There is a fall breeze flowing through your small, studio apartment that you’re renting in your childhood small-town. Soft music from the local Halloween festival following in through the windows along with it. And then there’s your lover. Drinking warm tea with sweet honey, in a “fall-themed” mug, and sitting in a cozy sweater under a blanket of warmth from your small but alive fireplace. And you, sitting in soft to the touch leg-warmers under a fuzzy blanket, drinking your own hot cocoa with marshmallows. Love fills the small room, distracting both you and your sweet love from the fall chill and festivities happening throughout the small town. The soft glow from the candles sitting around the both of you illuminates your warm shadows sitting close to each other. Talk of what Halloween themed movie will be on tonight hangs in the air surrounding the apartment. The soft and sweet smiles shared between the both of you sinks into the walls. The laughs made by each other inks into the wooden floor, silently creating a permanent presence inside of the apartment. Soon, a bottle of cheap red-wine is opened and a soft jazz record starts being played at low volume. Drunken kisses, smoky joints, soothing records. This is all you’ve wanted. This exact thing. Being in the hazy studio apartment, in your own world with your sweet lover who loves you softly and gently. You soon realize as the soft morning sun starts to shine through the cracks in the dark curtains, that this truly was your favorite season out of them all. Fall breezes always brought something else into the picture. So, as you smile softly down at your lover as they sleep gently beside you on the makeshift bed that lays your living room floor, you vow that each fall to come, you’ll love on them even harder than you do the rest of the year. For they made you love a time of year that once so broke you into a million different pieces. You vow to love them for every fall after this one. Every fall. The beautiful season you are.
