Nintendo Switch...Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly!
Coffee Talk has a sequel! With the ending of Coffee Talk, I am sure you are all as excited as I am to make some coffee again! Brew yourselves a cup and get comfy! Missed my review of the first one: https://www.tumblr.com/orphancookie69/712493326777073664/nintendo-switch-coffee-talk?source=share?
Tumblr media
In a time where people are isolated from each other, Coffee Talk is a place where we can reconnect over a cup of warm drink. It’s time to revisit your favorite late-night coffee shop and reconnect with your fantasy friends over a warm drink or two. You are a barista, and your customers aren't always humans, listen to their stories and influence their hearts with a warm cup of coffee or two. More info here: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/coffee-talk-episode-2-hibiscus-and-butterfly-switch/
My Thoughts On The Game:
The game should of just released, full price it is $15. While I do wish the games were longer in general, there is a lot of value even at $15. If it is anything like Coffee Talk, then to unlock all the accomplishments you need to replay it and change certain decisions you make, so short but replay value. It seems like you pick up with the same group of characters, so I am excited to see who got together and who is not!
Same game but continued! Love seeing people that met in the last game are still together in the sequel! Some new characters come in, and new gameplay aspects in having objects you give or pick up. The game recently got released and it set for future from now, ya know fall? And the references to the times they think we are going to be in, not unlike the past references in the other one, are funny for the most part.
At one point I had to use a guide to get one of the drinks, I really try not to use one of those and play games “honorably”. But I am a little thrown off by the addition of objects in game play being used to unlock achievements. Because of this, I would maybe find one before you play and use it as needed. I otherwise love this game and wish there was more like it, for now I will wait for more sequels. Have you finished the game yet?

Podcast of our life - Esteban Ocon x ChineseOlympicFootballer! Reader
Plot: You have won Olympic Medals, play Football in the Chinese Women’s Team but also are in the Premier League playing for Chelsea Football Club… you are a worldwide legend. So what’s the story of how you met your French F1 driving boyfriend!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Tonight we have a very special guest, one of the most iconic athletes of her time and known world wide it’s Y/N Y/L/N” the interviewer says as you come into the platform in a gorgeous blue dress, you look out into the crowd spying Esteban your boyfriend.
“Hello hello! 你好” you say politely bowing to the crowd with your hands together and then shaking hands with the interviewer.
“Woah you just look incredible tonight Y/N don’t you think so ladies and gentlemen?” She asks smiling into the crowd cheers and wolf whistles heard throughout the crowd making you smile and laugh happy to have fans in the building with you.
“So Y/N let’s first talk about just how incredible your achievements have been. You stared out as playing for a local team in China before ending up on their national team playing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup as one of their youngest players, coming third in your first year and winning the championship with your team in your second, before competing in the Olympics on that football team only 2 years later, and bringing home gold for you team. And now your in your second year of playing for Chelsea FC! How do you feel after all this?” She asks and you smile a little.
“Tired” you announce and a chorus of laughs are heard through the studio.
“Ah yes, i can imagine with all the travelling” she grins and you nod.
“No honestly I’m so thankful and grateful for everything that all of my friends family and fans have all helped me along in my career and how much I’ve achieved in such a short period of time. I want to continue improving and making everyone proud so it doesn’t just end here!” You grin, you were always so thankful for everyone around you that made your career what it was.
“Yeah I think most athletes we interview always talk about the incredible support system they have around them that gives them that mental drive and motivation to do better! What in your opinion gives you your biggest motivation before games and when things get that little bit more tough?” She asks and once again you smile.
“Yeah it’s a mix honestly as much as I love my family and friends they have their own lives and can’t always be there, some of my darkest caverns were ones that I pulled myself out of but mostly the fans and my family that help me when it comes to wanting to do my very best” you admit and the crowd awes at your reasoning.
“Ah yes, your very close with your dad specifically aren’t you. He’s the reason you got into football in the first place” she smiles.
“Yeah I mean he is my inspiration when it comes to football and how I do! He took me to my first game and taught me how to kick a ball! I just can’t imagine I’d be where I am without him helping me! But yeah, when he’s not around motivation is hard” you tell her.
“So other than motivation I can imagine it being a huge struggle like you said with handle closest to you not being there all the time. Especially your athlete boyfriend Esteban Ocon who folks is in the room with us today” she says and the camera breaks to pan over to him in the crowd. “Who travels around the world to 24 different global locations how - how does that even work with you both so busy?” She pries but you don’t mind as you and Esteban were genuinely quite open with your relationship.
“We make it work, any chance I can go to a race i go no matter how tired or jet lagged I am I still go and he will do as much as he can to come to my matches … you know that’s actually how we met at a football match” you grin reminiscing about the time you met him.
“Dad come on, we should get to the stadium!” You exclaimed exited to finally go to a PSG game while you guys were in Paris.
“Come on we’ve got loads of time, the game doesn’t start for an hour” he chuckles as you try pull on his hand, looking more like a toddler than a 21 year old.
“But the tour, I don’t want to miss it! Please can we get there now?” You ask with a face that you knew your father couldn’t say no too.
“Fine let’s go!” He sighs with a teasing smile, you guys walk towards the stadium, once you get there a few people who were football fans notice you and politely ask for signatures and pictures.
More and more people come over, questioning whether you’ll be going to the game. You are answering most questions until a new gaggle of people were ahead, and it looked like a similar situation people thrusting paper into a man’s hands who was wearing sunglasses despite the cloudy Parisian afternoon.
People who were talking to you took quick notice of the man ahead, and people with him started to take notice of you until the two groups sort of merged into one until you were back to back signing stuff with the random man.
Eventually security came and managed to get the two of you away from the crowds to keep everything moving on quickly.
“Hello!” You’d smiled at the man and he nodded and smiled back.
“You er ever had that before?” You ask and he pushed his sunglasses up finally to get a good look at you.
“Yeah, pretty often actually” he laughs.
“What, er what do you do?” You’d asked shyly not knowing who he was.
“I’m a formula one driver? And your that new hot shot footballer right?” He asked narrowing his eyes.
“And yeah, we watched the game together and the rest is history. He is without a doubt the love of my life!” You grinned looking out to him and his radiant smile.

do rhythm game devs conspire together to ensure certain songs have charts that are deceptively difficult
in-depth rhythm gamer rambling under the cut
MAIMAI
master chart umiyuri kaikeitan (tale of the deep-sea lily) is the epitome of deceptively annoying song charts for its chorus pattern, which was then spitefully dubbed the "umiyuri pattern" and has gone on to be the bane of maimai players worldwide, right next to batshit spin patterns and grossly delayed sliders. i believe the final chorus umiyuri patterns messed me up just enough that i got 99.99 on the song. utterly embarrassing re:master chart mousou kanshou daichou renmei (MKDR), aka delusion sentiment compensation federation (DSCF), is twice as annoying as umiyuri kaikeitan by combining both umiyuri pattern in its chorus AND using slow, delayed sliders from the moment the song begins up to its chorus. special shoutout to the last two stanzas of the first verse. you know what you are.
PROJECT SEKAI
i hate the big-note staircases in umiyuri kaikeitan's master chart. everything goes downhill from the chorus, employing numerous insidious tactics that are sure to mess up your AP attempt.
MKDR is my nemesis for being boringly easy... until the last chorus. those tiny hold notes are like a needle-thin balancing board but surprisingly they don't pose a problem most of the time. the real killer is the outro with its varied note size bullcrap that has consistently destroyed my combo and/or my AP.
so yeah these songs have been plaguing me and probably will continue to for decades to come

The western red cicada, Okanagana arctostaphylae, was thought to be extinct for 100 years until a picture of the rare bug was snapped by a citizen scientist. Photograph By Anton Sorokin
How An ‘Extinct’ Cicada Was Rediscovered 100 Years Later
Billions of Cicadas will Soon Flood the Eastern U.S. But their Western Counterparts are Relatively Lesser Known—with One Species Described as "The Holy Grail of Western Cicada Rediscoveries."
— By Anton Sorokin | March 04, 2024
When the striking crimson red cicada known scientifically as Okanagana arctostaphylae was last seen in 1915, World War One was entering its second year, and the House of Representatives just declined a proposal allowing women to vote.
It would be over a century later in 2020 when Lucinda Collings Parker happened across one in her garden in California’s Sierra Nevada foothills. Spotting a bug she didn’t recognize, she took a picture and uploaded it to the online citizen science forum iNaturalist.
In less time than it takes to cook and eat dinner, her observation had already been seen by Will Chatfield-Taylor, an entomologist who studied at the University of Kansas, who forwarded it to a cadre of cicada experts. Jeff Cole, research associate at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and Elliott Smeds, research associate at the California Academy of Sciences, all three agreed—Parker’s cicada was O. arctostaphylae, the holy grail of western cicada rediscoveries.
This spring, from Oklahoma to Virginia, billions of cicadas will disrupt baseball games and weddings, creating an incredible sight and overwhelming chorus. But for entomological mystery, some researchers turn their eyes to the West.
There are far more species of cicada west of the Rockies than east, and these western species are comparatively poorly known. Some species are being recorded for the first time in generations. The poster-bug of these rediscoveries is Okanagana arctostaphylae.
Searching For A Lost Species
In the days after Parker’s observation, Smeds drove for hours across the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains with his windows rolled down, listening for the cicadas' call. He had an idea of what they might sound like based on related species.
The strategy paid off, but the first time Smeds tracked them, he could only listen to the ‘zzzzzzzzZZZZzzzztttt’ of their song emanating from an inaccessible cliffside 20 feet overhead. The next day, he found them calling behind a locked gate. He was lucky and met the landowner, who, albeit slightly bemused, allowed Smeds to chase cicadas on his property.
It wasn’t long until Smeds saw them: 1.5-inch-long red insects, dramatic in coloration and appearance. They would stand out if they didn’t perch on the equally red stems of their host plants, Manzanita shrubs. Several weeks after their reappearance, the cicadas vanished again. But now scientists knew where and when to look; they were found again in 2023.
Diligent searching and several more lucky iNaturalist observations revealed the cicadas were found across a wider swathe of California's Western Sierra Foothills than expected. Now the expanse between the northernmost and southernmost observations spanned 130 miles, a distance surpassing the length of Delaware. They were able to evade detection for a century because they spend years underground. When adults emerge, it is in stifling heat and amid dense vegetation.
“Cicadas are basically overgrown aphids,” laughs Cole.
Like aphids and other ‘true bugs’ the cicadas have a ‘straw’ that they stab into plants to suck a liquid diet of sap. This has been a successful strategy for them; over 3000 cicada species are found worldwide.
They’re also characterized by a two-part life cycle. Cicadas spend the longest portion of their lives underground as nymphs, sucking juices from roots. After one to 17 years, depending on the species, they burst from the ground and molt, transforming from a brown bean-shaped subterranean creature to a winged adult—the world’s noisiest insects.
Unlike their eastern counterparts, whose emergence can be predicted decades in advance, the life cycles of western cicadas remain comparatively mysterious. What is their range? When will they emerge, and for how long? Many species have “protoperiodical” life cycles, which means that a few emerge every year, but there are much larger emergences some years, although smaller in contrast to the periodical cicadas of the east.
Figuring out exactly what triggers the emergence of protoperiodical cicadas in the West is still an unanswered question, but rain is a key part of the puzzle. Of studied species, large emergences of protoperiodical cicadas occurred only after a certain threshold of rain fell over several years.
Tumblr media
Science Done By The Citizens
Just in California, there are about 80 recognized cicada species, and yet there are just a handful of entomologists focusing on western cicadas. Cicadas have remained relatively poorly studied because their long lifecycles and sporadic emergences are difficult for academics to study. Rarely can scientists wait years for study subjects to pop up above ground, and they can’t be everywhere at once.
Community scientists on iNaturalist have emerged as a critical tool. iNaturalist users snap a photo of a plant or animal, and the photo is immediately visible to a community of naturalists and experts who can confirm or correct an identification.
“I’m guessing a similar situation has happened hundreds of times over the last century, that someone has found this cool red bug when they’re out there in the foothills, and thanks to iNaturalist, this is just the first time that anyone else has been able to hear about it,” suggests Smeds.
iNaturalist users generate tens of thousands of observations daily. Never before have researchers of rare creatures had so many eyes peeled—peering into crevices, scanning thickets, and uploading their finds in real-time. When it comes to cicadas, over 8,500 users made nearly 17,000 records in the western U.S. as of February 2024. Suddenly, the handful of cicada scientists have eyes everywhere.
This is a game changer for cicada research. “Before iNaturalist, there was no way to know where and when they’re coming out. You needed to have a big tank of gas and some luck” recalls Cole.
Chatfield-Taylor sometimes messages users who have logged rare cicadas, asking them to collect and send him a specimen, which allows him to analyze how closely they’re related to other, nearby species and just how many might live out West.
Despite all the new records, some species continue to evade detection.
Chatfield-Taylor wistfully talks of a cicada from Yakima Valley in Washington that hasn’t been seen since its description in the 1930s.
“Maybe it's extinct” he says, or maybe it will turn up on iNaturalist this year.
Already, crowdsourcing information and specimens from iNaturalist, the cicada researchers have gotten their hands on more species faster than they would have believed possible.
These records aren’t only good for species rediscoveries. As a result of iNaturalist and specimens that they were able to obtain, Cole, Chatfield-Taylor, and Smeds determined that several species of western cicada weren’t species at all; they were geographic variants of other more widespread species.
Chatfield-Taylor wants to remind community scientists, “When it comes to western cicadas keep your eyes peeled; you might find something that surprises you.” And for that matter, your find might surprise the entomologists too.

Exploring the majesty of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
Depiction.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" is a musical masterpiece that defies categorization. Performed by the famous British band Queen and written by the legendary Freddie Mercury, this iconic song takes listeners on a sonic journey through various genres, including rock, opera, and ballad. Its unique structure and unconventional composition have made it one of the most distinctive and beloved songs in the history of music.
Release Date.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" was released as a single on October 31, 1975, and later included in Queen's fourth studio album, "A Night at the Opera." Despite its initial mixed reception, the song quickly gained popularity and became a chart-topping success around the world. Its enduring appeal continues to captivate audiences to this day.
Sample of the song lyrics.
[…] Too late, my time has come ¶ Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time ¶ Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go ¶ Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth ¶ Mama, ooh (any way the wind blows) ¶ I don't wanna die ¶ I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all […]
Interesting Anecdotes.
Recording extravaganza: The recording process for "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a labor of passion, spanning weeks and utilizing innovative techniques. The band layered over 180 vocal overdubs to create the rich harmonies that define the song's chorus.
Hidden meanings: The lyrics of "Bohemian Rhapsody" have sparked numerous interpretations over the years. While Freddie Mercury never explicitly explained the song's meaning, he hinted at it being a reflection of his personal struggles and experiences.
Game-changing music video: The accompanying music video, released in 1975, was ahead of its time. Its surreal visuals and groundbreaking techniques, including the use of special effects and multi-layered shots, set a new standard for music videos.
First time I've heard it.
I can't remember the first time I heard it on the radio anymore, but I do remember the first time I saw it on TV: it was in the official music video that was broadcast by a local music channel in my country of birth Peru, sometime around 1995.
youtube
My Personal Score.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars)
My personal mood for "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen is: ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ. The song's bold experimentation, powerful vocals, and timeless appeal make it an undeniable masterpiece that stands the test of time. Its ability to evoke a range of emotions and its sheer musical brilliance continue to inspire generations of fans worldwide.
–––
Remember, music is subjective, and everyone's experience with a song may differ. Enjoy the enchanting journey that "Bohemian Rhapsody" offers and let the music take you on a magical ride!
