The Wayhaven Chronicles— Update 22/Nov/2024 

My focus was on Chapter 6 this week. There’s a big opening scene that is a variant depending on who your BFF is, and there’s some real deeper information in these scenes about the BFF that they discuss with the MC.

I’ve been keen to write this for sooo long!

I put in the BFF routes for Wayhaven, and I do like them, but it feels like the MC hasn’t really had a chance to develop that friendship with their BFF except kind of ‘off screen’. I want more times so that true connection between the MC and their BFF can happen with the actual reader.

There’s also coming up a choice set for the reader to decide how their character is feeling about certain things, so I want to make sure there’s enough choices without being overwhelming!

Next week, I will be pushing on with Chapter 6, as it’s a bigger one to write with all the variations! But also I’ll be starting the Winter Scenario Specials and work out how I want those to look and go, because I was supposed to start that this week but was on such a roll with this chapter that I just kept writing, hehe! :D

Chapter One: The Beginning

This is Billy Batson.

Billy Batson has been kidnapped.

This is far from an uncommon occurrence for the boy, but he can’t help but be a bit concerned. After all, he is supposed to commentate at Mary’s spelling bee today, and he has no idea how long he’s been knocked out! He needs to find a clock immediately, and if it’s not too late, find a way to the spelling bee!

If only he had the ominous voices of various gods/previous champions/his own conscience to guide him…

Oh, wait… he does!

Please, voices, help him! What does he do now?

ngl though, elianna and ash having mc WAS irresponsible, completely agree with Tobias here, "shit" would have been my reaction too to eli's pregnancy news, considering mc gets kidnapped and goes through a very traumatic experience because of what they are.

as for which path to choose it's definitely save familiars for me. Plushie is, well, a toy, sirius has plot armor due to being ashlyen's daemon. Familiars though? Now they need help. Even if we don't look at this from the meta perspective and although the choice IS hard, since we get to bond a little with sirius, it's a choice between saving lots of familiars instead of saving just one for me, aka sirius, sorry big cat, love ya✌😭

"Shit," was Elianna's reaction too. Ashlyen opted for "Holy shit."

A pregnancy wasn't in the cards. In fact, it was inconceivable. Half-blood births are so rare and the percentage so low.

But it happened, and yes, Ashlyen and Elianna decided to be selfish and give themselves that right.

Like others before them and others after them.

The only difference is that Mc is half elf. A rarity given Amandil's stranglehold on her people.

As for the Familiars, Sirius in your place would have done the same. One life to save many. The choice is simple. It's a state of mind shared by Sirius and Ashlyen alike.

So perhaps you have more in common with your father than you might realize.

I've been very inspired from seeing Niko's stp au, and it makes me want to trying doing something like it as well. I've been thinking about a choose your own adventure story with some OCs of mine. It would still be heavily inspired by slay the princess, but I think I would change some things around. You would get to vote for each option like in Niko's au, and I'll draw that for the next comic page.

The Narrator:

You reach towards the Heroine to remove her bindings.

The Narrator:

She dons a look of intense distress, helplessly recoiling as much as she can.

The Narrator:

As your hand comes in contact with the glistening ropes, the secretion hisses and burns against your skin. You and the Heroine share a wince, in pain and sympathy. Once the initial burn passes, a stinging itch runs through your fingers and to your palms, wrist, until you can feel it up to your elbow. An aggrivatingly distracting itch that screams at you to pull away and scratch for the momentary relief.

Voice of the Cheated:

Agh! Ow, jeez! Ugh, come on! We're not gonna be deterred by an itch. We can help her out of this!

Voice of the Prince:

She's feeling the same thing but all over. That's awful.

Voice of the Opportunist:

She seems better at handling it, at least. Come on, keep moving.

The Narrator:

You take a firm hold of the vine holding her the firmest and, ignoring the searing itch and quickly forming rash, start to tear the binding off of her arm.

The Narrator:

Her look drops into something much more weary.

"How can I be shocked. You don't seem to want to listen."

Voice of the Cheated:

Come on, come on, onto the next one. We're alright.

The Narrator:

The Heroine now chooses to close her eyes in a very closed-off grimace, still holding her arms and rubbing at the marks that litter them. You tear another vine, and peel some of the others off of the raw skin.

Voice of the Prince:

And now...

The Narrator:

She... Ah. She opens her eyes again, and her self-soothing crossed arms fall.

Voice of the Prince:

Oh, heavens...

Voice of the Opportunist:

I have a couple of guesses as to what the "plant-like" vines were. No wonder it stung.

The Narrator:

The two ropes that had her most encaptured reveal their source; the low area of her chest. They seem to be... Innards.

Voice of the Cheated:

And we just ripped 'em open! Is she okay? She doesn't... Look mad? Or hurt, really...?

The Narrator:

As she kicks away the last of her oozing confinements, she looks up at you and scratches at some of the rashes. You find yourself subconsciously doing the same for your entire forearms.

Voice of the Prince:

Sorry, these things sting.

"Alright, your highness. I'm out. We did it."

Voice of the Cheated:

She is! Isn't that great!?

Voice of the Opportunist:

I wonder if she would agree.

Beggar's Luck - Information Post

Your father has always been regarded as the greatest pirate hunter to have ever sailed the waters of the tropical Byacona.

But now the unthinkable is happening: Your father is charged with piracy!

So it is up to you, his only child, to travel to the Byacona and help prove his innocence, or at least get him to reveal what happened.

Which is easier said than done, because whatever your father was doing seems connected to the sightings of a ship long thought sunk:

The Beggar's Luck, ship of the fabled Alistair Moray, King of Pirates.

Has Moray risen from the dead to seek revenge? And has your father something to do with it?

It's up to you to find out.

The world, Sildrys, the game is set on is home to various races besides human, allowing you to play as human or a mix of human and elves, dragons and other decently strange beings (as long as you can swim).

The age is set to 20.

Lieutenant Elliott Sewell (24, human, cis man): Elliot is a young Navy-Lieutenant working as Admiral Géroux’s secretary after a leg-injury send him into very early retirement. He’s as headstrong as he’s handsome.

He’s been a great admirer of the MC’s father, and seems dead-set on becoming a renown pirate hunter, filling the empty space the Commodore’s alleged treason left.

Midshipman Noah Paget (18, human(?), cis man): Mr Paget is commonly seen as a lost cause. Eager, ambitious and honest, but clumsy and scatterbrained. Has several rumours surrounding his heritage which weights down on him in addition. When push comes to shove he takes up the chance to prove himself to find the fable pirate port of Lobo Marino.

Lucy Kerrigan (19, human, cis woman): Lucy is regarded as the ‘soul of the Shredded Sail’ the scummiest tavern on all of Lobo Marino. She takes great pride in the fact that her missing father’s the new King of Pirates, even though no one else agrees with her on that.

She’s headstrong and boisterous, though no one can say what happens when her shell should be cracked one day. Great affinity for fire and explosives.

Florentina 'Shipwreck' Espinosa (26, Half-Elf/Half-human, trans woman): Regarded as the unluckiest captain to have ever sailed the waters of the Byacona, Florentina is good-natured but very sarcastic soul. And she has absolutely no patience for people betting behind her back how long her current ship, the Windmill will last.

Stevie is tall and skinny with light brown skin and extremely long, curly black hair which she always wears in a wet look. She has big, dark brown eyes and a soft face.

Paul/Paulette Zima, lead singer & saxophonist (f/m selectable, trans) — “Trying to figure out where you know me from?”

Your band’s brand-new, second lead singer. Your manager says they’re going to give your music the kick it needs, that they’re the one missing ingredient to your success. You’re not entirely sure if you agree. Worse yet, you happen to know this person, and your time together didn’t end on a favorable note. They’re part of a past you would much rather forget.

Paul is very tall, broad-backed and thickly muscled with light skin, shoulder-length slicked back brown hair and bottle green eyes.

Paulette is of average height with an hourglass/slim thick figure. She has dark brown hair with parted bangs and light blonde strands dyed into it. Her eyes are bottle green.

Angel Monsanto, guitarist (m) — “I was always going to make it big, with or without those guys. Only, I… I really wanted it to be with them.”

Your crazy but good-hearted guitarist. His passion for music borders on obsession, and he will stop at nothing to make a name for your band. Sadly, he’s very much of the conviction that all publicity is good publicity, which has encouraged him to pull some very questionable stunts in the past. 

Angel is of average height and build with a warm beige complexion and long black hair. He has a square jaw with an occasional five o’clock shadow and brown eyes. 

Lincoln Saunders, groupie?? (f/m selectable) — “What can I say, I loved them.”

Calling Lincoln a fan would be an understatement. Fanatic is more like it. You remember seeing them at your very first show, and you’ve continued to spot them at every venue you’ve played at since. You don’t know anything about them, and perhaps changing that would be a very bad idea. But maybe you still want to.

Lincoln (m) is short and lean, with an angular face and wavy blond hair. His eyes are cobalt blue. 

Lincoln (f) is petite and tan, with a youthful, round face and chin-length blond beach waves. Her eyes are cobalt blue.

Others:

Maddox Wells (m), drummer

Another one of your oldest friends. You don’t much like to talk about what happened with him.

Fatima Shah (f), drummer — “I’m pretty sure they used to try to make me disappear with their fog machine.”

After things didn’t work out with your original drummer, Fatima saved the day. She’s a sweetheart to you, but from what you’ve heard, she can be kind of a terrible person. Maybe it’s best to stay a little wary of her.

Kalena Graham (f), manager — “The first time I saw them… well, they kind of sucked. But I knew, I just knew, that they had what it takes to suck on an international level.”

Your band’s manager. You can’t believe how lucky you were to have caught her attention. She’s experienced, driven, well-regarded in the industry and… kind of mean, to be honest.

Simon Young (m), reporter — “Start at the beginning. And then, don’t stop.”

The guy conducting the interview for Groove Magazine. He’s nice enough, if a little starstruck. It seems he has been waiting a long time for this.

Element of Surprise

While shoving his face into a tray full of sharp objects doesn’t sound very appealing, he knows it’s the only choice he has to get this tape off his mouth within a reasonable time frame.

If he’s super careful, he can stealthily rub the tape against the scalpel to free his mouth, allowing him to say the magic word! He may get a few cuts, but it'll be worth it.

The spelling bee needs a commentator and if he can't get to the spelling bee in time, it will be cancelled. This is important to Mary and he refuses to abandon his twin.

Imagining someone with a giraffe, rhino, hippo, or another such creature as a familiar. No need for magic when u got straight hands

Haha yes indeed some Familiars by themselves can be quite a deterrent.

Especially since Familiars tend to be more massive than their lambda counterparts.

However, I'd like to point out that to accommodate their Familiars, Hearts often settle where their Souls is most at ease.

So you're not likely to come across a giraffe in Northview, for example. The only place where it's a bit of a menagerie is at the academy. There, the climate varies for all beings according to their preference.
