I Take Pictures Of Birds So That People Can See Them Like Never Before
I photograph birds in a studio, which is set up in nature. My own photographic methods are at the center of my work. A key point when photographing birds is the proximity. I work together with scientists, who study birds and capture them with mist nets. My studio is close to the mist nets out in nature. After the photo shoot, I can easily release the birds simply by opening the studio netting that connects the studio to the camera.

BOTD: Green Kingfisher
Photo: Lucio Bernardes
"This little kingfisher seems oddly proportioned, rather like a sparrow with the bill of a heron. Living along streams and rivers near the Mexican border, it is often overlooked, because it tends to perch low among vegetation near the water; its sharp ticking callnotes may give it away. When moving up or downstream, the Green Kingfisher flies fast, with quick wingbeats, very low over the water."

Bosterito – Setophaga pitiayumi
Calandria grande – Mimus saturninus
Carancho – Caracara plancus
Carau – Aramus guarana
Carpintero real – Colaptes melanochloros
Chiflón – Sygrima sibilatrix
Cigüeña americana – Ciconia maguari
Cisnes cuello negro – Cygnus melancoryphus
Curutié colorado – Certhiaxis cinnamomeus
Espátula rosada – Platalea ajaja
Gallareta escudete rojo – Fulica rufifrons
Garcita azulada (juvenil) – Butorides striata
Garcita blanca – Egretta thula
Gavilán mixto – Parabuteo unincinctus
Hocó colorado (adulto) – Tigrisoma lineatum
Ipacaá – Aramides ypecaha
Jacana – Jacana jacana
Macá chico – Rollandia rolland
Martín pescador chico – Chloroceryle americana
Pato cutirí – Amazonetta brasiliensis
Pepitero gris – Saltator coerulescens
Pico de plata – Hymenops perspicillatus
Pirincho – Guira guira
