seeing devs new article about how MAYBE they've left all the "plot holes" here for a reason to explain them in DE2 and my brain hurts from thinking that I have to not hope too much that this might also be about pricefield (esp since they mention chloe directly in that interview)

This thought just suddenly came to me - “Big” Jack Horner from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is essentially the Chloe Bourgeois that Thomas Astruc intended to write in Miraculous Ladybug from the get-go and has since desperately been writing even when his prior failure contradicted it: a spoiled, privileged, entitled, petty, sadistic, and humorously self-aware and over-the-top sociopath who loves no-one but themselves and can never ever be redeemed.

This was the intended audience reaction to Chloe:

Unfortunately for Astruc, for some reason or other he bungled this completely in Seasons 1-3 of the show, portraying a Chloe that had significantly more nuance than that, which means now he’s stuck jamming a square peg into a round hole and insisting viewers go along with it.

Imagine if in “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” Jack Horner despite being an irredeemable monster was redeemed while Goldie despite having a sympathetic backstory wasn’t.

It’s basically what happened with Gabriel and Chloe in Season 5.

Broadly, yeah.

At least Goldie had a family who loved her.

But yeah Jack is exactly what TA *thought* he was doing with Chloe. Jack has everything, he's wildly successful. It just isn't enough for him to have a lot, other people must have *nothing*.

Chloe has never been that way. She might gloat about being rich, but that's about it. She was fine being a part of a team. She was fine with Ladybug being in charge. And unlike Goldie and Jack, Chloe is a child who has nothing that is *hers* it all belongs to her parents.

She would need a rewrite from the ground up to be what TA wanted, and she will never be that way now, no matter how hard he tries. We got to see her as she was before, so any change for the worse is a tragedy, not a 'truth'.
