Red athletic sneakers forced themselves to trudge on during this fiery day. Many would think that the brunette would be long since used to this type of weather, considering her travel in the Johto region, known for searing weather even during the "winter" time. Unova was surprisingly different, with what seemed to be absolutely no consistency in weather, buildings, or time; it was almost as if every area was ruled by it's own clouds with its own degree of sunlight. Kotone couldn't count how many times she had walked in a building on an impossibly sunny day such as this one only to find a thunderstorm brewing when she had made her way out. Needless to say, it made keeping up surprisingly different.
Kotone couldn't bring herself to take a break; she often found that swimming in her own troubles was not the solution. Besides, she was out of water and the meager amount of food that she carried with her. It seemed like a waste of money to spend any more money than completely necessary on herself; As long as her partners were completely healthy and happy, it was more than enough. The aspiring girl would not back down, but instead continue on the next leg of her journey. After all, Professor Elm was counting on her! Hoenn, down. Sinnoh, down. Soon the Unova region would be hers as well, and she would continue on her way to to Kalos; but for now, Pinwheel forest awaited. Heat waves surrounded the entrance, as well as clouds of smoke that would be apparent to those that were awake enough to notice. Kotone was obviously not one of those people; eyes the color of milk tea were clouded over and only say black spots. "I'm feeling a bit faint...I-I'll just rest on a tree stump or something until I feel better. Stupid..."
The forest seemed surprisingly tranquil; a lovely dark shade from what seemed like an infinity number of trees covered all that was under it, only interrupted by small spots of sunlight that complemented the coolness of the space. It was a different world than the space that she had left two minutes ago; for once, she agreed with Unova's chnges. The girl quickly encountered the perfect log to sit in as well! Kotone still didn't feel her best, but she doubted it was something that a few moments of rest and time with her pokemon couldn't fix. Kotone adjusted her walk; what was first a couple of dehydrated steps soon turned into a semi-healthy stride. Okay! Today's going to be a productive da--
Kotone found herself on the ground after a hard impact; whatever hit her couldn't be very heavy, but the force obviously had a great deal of momentum and speed behind it. Usually a healthy girl would have been able to shrug it off, but with her unusually small stature and worsening strength, the frail brunette found herself trying to hold on to any wisp of consciousness that she could find; as the adrenaline coursed through her body, she found that she couldn't move. She was pinned down?!! With no knowledge of what was going on around her, she figured that words would be her best option.
"W-who are you?! Please get off of me!"

‖❦‖▬ : Arms raised to shield the sun’s imperishable projectiles, allowing light to be poured between the trainer’s flexed digits, altering the silhouettes that decked her hands. Heat waves relentless as hostile assailants, they continue to deluge Castelia City and its commoners in a humid haze. Powerless to revise nature’s ever so unpredictable passages, Touko lounges along the buildings’ alleyways, in hopes of evading the hot weather. Fabric clung to her skin as the perspiration worsened, and the scenario of leaping over the metropolis’s railings to plunge into the seaside seemed more tempting by the second. At this degree, returning to the apartment was a huge no-no, all thanks given to the family’s busted air conditioner. An exaggerated exhale escapes her lungs once the clock tower chimed simultaneously with the strike of six, and she redirected her attention back to the roads leading home. Sweeping away plastered bangs, the girl sharply turned around the corner, reluctance trimming her motions as she stepped out into exposure. Flying would have far been a more preferable choice, but all of her partners rested safe with mother. Relying on her willpower and leg muscles, she’d have to bike the miles back to her hometown; and the thought of exerting effort beneath high temperature had her motivation popped open.
Maybe she should stay for a while longer…it certainly did sound better than being baked into a hot potato. Sturdy soles clicked along the concrete pavements, its taps following measured cadences of a musical piece as she weaved around the flow of citizens. Fighting against the upstream current of businessmen and women, she heaves herself amidst the overwhelming smell of mixed perfume and sweat.
Murmurs of disapproval swept through the crowd and eyes burnt viciously unto her back, resulting a tinge of pink coloring her cheeks. Shrugging it off, she continues her trek to the particular passageway lined with art galleries and food stalls. In the previous younger stages of her life, she would have meekly apologized and bow to no ends for forgiveness. Out in the open, her casual outfit passed off as a normal trainer, nothing less or more - she didn’t plan to catch anyone’s attention, anyways. It wasn’t a surprise that people lashed out biting remarks at one another; Touko had learned through experience that humans could be rather judgmental beings. Successes such as fame would earn you praises and ‘friends’, but the exact moment one falls short of expectations, they would lose all that sweetened glory in a jiffy. And by the end of the day, reputation was near impossible to retain a positive outlook, because the hellish media loved nosing their microphones into personal lives and completely warping it into a juicy ridicule of that victimized person! Oh, how that twisted perception were the best of friends with the brunette! Childish dreams, being renowned as a celebrity was like accepting candies from a stranger. She would chuckle at her naive past self, just at how eager she was to become a Champion. To be prominent, was a double-edged knife that hurt more than its actual use of production!— words are blades, and opinions are blissful confections until you reach the razor core.
‖❦‖▬ : Touko’s nose scrunches up in distaste as a tangy odor abruptly traced its way into her sense of smell, and recollected diadems then dismounts her thoughts. Caught up in her inner conversation, she had led herself astray on the outer skirts of town, locating near the terminal out to Pinwheel Forest. What was that—? Her brisk trot hinders into a casual gait, optics dilating in alarm as she scrolled through her memories to identify the source. Ears strained for aural clues, followed by faint crackling to answer her mental inquiry. Uneasiness loomed upon her as she surveyed the area, agitated steps taken carefully back as if the symptoms were a forewarning. No wind blew, yet the leaves were plucked off their branches, tumbling in the air though lacking their former dignity. Rubescent red reflecting off sapphire pupils, her vision locks upon the furious colors lacing the foliage’s singed edges, and she realizes: smoke. Smoke, she grasped the fleeting word, recognizing the doughy-sweet scent of fir and cedar leaves burning. Another groan resounded from the tree’s wooden innards, showering upon the trainer in a downpour of damaged twigs. Teeth clenched back a curse that threatened to roll off her tongue, and her fingertips brushed over to her belt to be grasp… emptiness. Again, appendages scrambled down from hips to waist in an effort to discover nonexistent capsules; and none came.
About to reel around in search for aid, the girl halts in her tracks as a figure emerges from the station’s entrance, unaware of the catastrophe that had befallen the clearings.
❝Stop, stop! Go back to where you came from—!❞ An ear-splitting creak overcame her ineffective voice, whisked amiss by the burning gales. Gaze jerking up at once, the brunette teetered over in loss of balance as a charred trunk gave a shudder, wavered side to side, and leaned towards the individual standing ahead. One, two - the earth convulsed in agony as the roots and tendrils of the trees ripped out in fierce snaps. Metallic tapping of a dozen clocks rang and clashed inside of Touko’s ears; she wasn’t able to perceive whether it was her imagination projecting the obnoxious harmonies. How many seconds did the ‘Life’ decided to give her in order to dive in and rescue this time? She knew she had been spared countless numbers of times when facing dangerous situations. Sometimes the trainer wouldn’t deem ‘death’ as ironic anymore. On an impulsive reaction, Touko staggered back unto her heels and sprinted to the stranger – and all she could see was the towering darkness and the deafening crash of nature as the pair flattened down against the slope.

A soft laugh as the violet-haired male approached the one before him, "Hey there! Heard you were after an egg. Keep it warm and take care of it, because soon it'll hatch into something fantastic for you!" he said with a jovial grin
{To the mod/mun please tag 'pokemonhatcheryroom' my companion and I would dearly love to see your muse's reaction to their egg}
Kotone was getting used to it now; she had made so many friends in such a short amount of time! This time, she was greeted by a purple haired man that seemed rather nice and knowledgable. Perhaps he was a breeder? In any case, it was another egg. The surprise was starting to wear off a bit, but another new companion was fine by her! While Bayleef was beyond caring, Dotty and Cottontail were slightly ecstatic. Taking the small egg into equally small yet strong arms, she smiled.
"Thank you! I'll take good care of it. We're all gonna get along great!"

Kotone couldn't begin to describe how awkward she felt around the older girl sometimes; The other was no doubt more successful than the brunette was, it was like she was on a completely different plane. True, Kotone had claimed the title of the champion, which in itself was quite the accomplishment; but Kris seemed so comfortable with where she currently stood. It made her hard to approach. Often times, when she felt uncomfortable with somebody, Kotone found that it was usually her low self-esteem. But there was just something so intentional about the way Kris looked at her. The ocean-like spheres which usually seemed so cool and calculating held obvious held jealousy and hate in regards to Kotone; it captivated her to the disturbing point where she felt like she had to know why.
"You're nowhere near decent at anything you do, and you're still just wasting time trying to 'find yourself'. Everybody you meet is quickly annoyed with you, and rightfully so. You're just a bother; the reason Kris dislikes you is written clear on her face." No. Maybe if she could somehow become closer to her, it would be clear in the end. She experienced changes for the better when she befriended Gold and Silver; she wasn't entirely broken anymore. But Kotone was still fragile enough to have every relationship change her, for better or worse. "M-maybe if I give it a shot, all that I've got, I can do something."
"Um, a-actually, you've been staring at me for quite a while! Not that it's a problem, or anything; If there's something you want to talk to me about, I'd love to help you, Kris. W-well, I'm not trying to imply that you have a problem or anything, just..."
Just Kris? Hopefully it would be okay to refer to her as that; she was nowhere near close to the aqua-haired girl, and it was all Kotone could do to hope that she wasn't imposing.
Overwhelming Jealousy || Crystal & Kotone
Brown pigtails, cute and fluffy hat, great personality. She was overall a likable and cute girl, who wouldn’t want to be friends with her?
Kris wouldn’t.
She was annoying, in the way of things, always bothering people, she was a nuisance to the researcher. Except, not really. Kris had to admit it, she was a sweet girl and obviously meant no harm to anybody. In fact, the researcher admired those traits about her, but somehow, she can’t help but feel this wave of hatred when she sees her pair of brown eyes and lips smiling gleefully. It made her want to snap her neck for some reason.
No. Not even that. She just wished to have Kotone disappear from the Earth.
Why such passionate hatred, you may ask? It was weird, really. Not even Kris understood at first. Kotone has done nothing to the Catcher, nor has she indirectly offended her in any way. Truthfully, words couldn’t describe how much the bluenette wanted Kotone out of her life, but in a way where it didn’t seem like hate. It was like… the brunette was in her way, an obstacle in her life. The way she would talk so comfortably with others, the way she smiled, the way people would adore her to bits. The way that Gold and Silver seem to love her more than Kris.
Honestly, who would have thought? That the successful and intelligent Kris would actually be jealous? And it had nothing to do with romance, believe me. But one of her fears was to be replaced, to be left alone. Just like how her father was separated from her life and probably made a new family with another woman, another daughter to replace her and put her in the shadows. Being left alone was the last thing Kris wanted. Be swallowed up in the cold and lonely realms of darkness, to just watch your closest friends slip out of your grip. It felt like Kotone was stealing Gold and Silver away from her, leaving her all by herself. All alone.
Realizing the brunette was in front of her, she snapped back out of her trance and spotted the other female friend smiling at her. How long has she been standing there? Was she talking to her while her thoughts were in a place where she didn’t want them to be? Well, whatever the case may be, Kris put up a fake polite smile at the other.
[♠]—; "Ah, hello Kotone-chan. You were saying something or…?"

The inventor blinked, looking around trying to find a certain brown-haired gravity deifying pigtailed girl. Soon enough he found her, running up to her he smiled, "Kotone! I know it's been a long time since we've seen each other, but I was hoping you could do me a favor." He handed her an Eevee, "Can you take care of'em for me for a while?"
➤Congratulations you have just received an Eevee.
Eevee Lv. 5
Gender: Male
Nature: Calm
➤Would you like to name it?
"Sure, Bill, I'd love to take care of him for you! I've been receiving a lot of pokemon lately; Dotty the Deerling here just hatched today! Bayleef hasn't been taking it too well, but I suppose some friendly competition will be helpful for both of them to mature."
She took the Eevee into her arms, an overpowering fluffiness cushioning her arms, all while making him all the more huggable. Eevee was a quiet one. His mewles were only occasional, but she could still see the spark in it's eyes; how would he deal with her proud Bayleef and energetic Deerling?
"Hmm, since you're so fluffy...how about something like 'Cottontail'?"
The brunette had to admit that it wasn't the best name, but it was cute. Eevee seemed content with it as well, although it was yawning a bit tiredly.
"Thanks Bill! I'll take good care of him; I'm sure the only thing on his mind right now is sleep, though."

you could see a few cracks being formed! After a few moments of cracking and strange sounds coming from the egg, a blinding, white light suddenly shined in the area, and when it disappeared, in its place appeared…
> Congratulations! A Deerling has hatched from the egg! Would you like to give it a nickname?
Kotone was in the middle of trying to coax some puffins into Bayleef; it looked like he wasn't in the mood to stop sulking any time soon. Frustrated, and about to give up, the girl felt something poking at her side, presumably from her sunshine-colored bag. Upon zipping it open for further inspection, she was greeted with a light, that was, well, certainly blinding. Was her egg hatching already? It had only been half a day!
Through the cracks, she could see green; perhaps a yellow bow? The light, however, did not last long; the champion soon found big, dark eyes staring into her own. It was a Deerling, no less! From the Unova region! She had never seen a pokemon hailing from Unova in the Johto region as of yet, only adding to her happiness. Surprisingly, she found even Bayleef turning his head; would he be okay competing with another Grass type for her attention? Perhaps they would even be able to get along.
"Hello there! I'll be your new trainer, Kotone. You seem like a girl, right? How about the name 'Dotty'?"
Dotty seemed very pleased with the nickname, as she sprung herself into Kotone's arms. They both smiled upon the contact; the young girl felt as if she was a mother!
"Just a second, girl. I think I have something that you would like!"
She dug a silver colored bell out of her tote; it was attached to a red ribbon, closely resembling the two on the trainer's hat. They truly looked like a matching pair.
"Welcome to the team!"
