hi lovely, could I request something? If yes then could you write something about Arthur proposing? ‘Cause I feel like he’d probably cry more than us hahaha he’s just so ahhh ❤️🥹
oh lordddddy.
arthur is a huge romantic.
so when the time comes for him to propose and take the next step in their relationship by asking her to be his forever, i can see him taking her away on one of the most beautiful and most romantic holidays where it's just the two of them and the culture around them. with no social media notifications, no work calls to take, no youtube videos to upload and film and no tiktoks to post for promotional ads or gifted reasons. a complete and total relaxing break from their work schedules.
somewhere with beautiful scenery.
somewhere with gorgeous culture.
somewhere that was unforgettable.
he kept their destination a secret until the day they flew from gatwick airport because he figured it would be difficult enough to hide where they were going when it was on screens all around them. he told her to pack appropriately, of course; he wouldn't leave her in the dark and let her pack a piece for every weather possible... he told her that she needed the kind of clothes that she would usually pack if they were going somewhere hot, somewhere where they could lounge by a pool all day, somewhere that didn't require a lot of walking but she'd need comfortable shoes.
everything was planned.
even though he wanted to ask her as soon as they'd stepped foot in their villa - a villa that was so beautiful on the outside with it's white-washed walls and bright blue roof and the most delicate of flowers creating arches and paved their pathways, tucked away neatly from the main roads but overlooking a stretch of sea, in the backyard, that was decorated with yachts and boats travelling on the waters surface - he didn't want to ruin the evening he had set to ask her. but all he could think about was the ring box, that was wrapped up tight in a pair of beige chino shorts so she couldn't see it if she peeked inside his case, and how all he wanted was to ask her so he wasn't a bundle of nerves for the entire week.
"why have you booked us into a three bedroom villa?" was the first thing she asks him once she'd finished taking in their home for the week, "not that i don't appreciate all the planning you've done for this week. just... there's only two of us."
"i wanted to book the best one," he admits and she can't help but grin at him with a stupid open-mouthed smile, "what?"
"nothing," she walks across the open-plan living space and wraps her arms around his neck, bringing his head closer to hers so she could slap a kiss on his lips, "i love you so much. this is going to be the most loveliest week."
"whatever you want to do, we'll do it," he says, pressing one last kiss to her cheek before pulling away from her, reaching for the handles of their suitcases so he could lift them up the stairs and leave them in their bedroom, "shall we unpack and then head out for a walk? look at the area? get some food?"
"i was thinking something a bit more... active."
"a swim in the pool?" arthur questions and she's glad he has his back turned to her because he couldn't see the devilish smirk that curved a corner of her lips upwards, "i actually think this place has a hot tub we could try out. maybe we could get some greek wine, sit in the tub, watch the sun go down."
"so many places try out," she cries out excitedly with a clap of her hands and he looks at her from over his shoulder with a confused look pinching his features up, "oh, come on, you're such an innocent sweetheart."
he feels her hand stroke the curve of his bum before she squeezes at the clothes flesh and, oh...
... how naive he was...
... there were so many places to christen that week.
"anywhere we want. however loud we want to be," she's close behind him on the stairs and it took his entire willpower to not drop the cases and have his way with her on the stairs with the way she was hinting, "anytime of the day. no one to walk in. no one to hear us."
oh, boy.
it was only day one and he didn't want to leave, ever.
and, despite the bundle of nerves that sat low in the pit of his belly for the time they were there, the whole week was peaceful.
the kind of peaceful that they usually always took for granted.
because, back home, peaceful had a whole different meaning.
peaceful, back home, meant no unexpected visits from their friends because they were bored and wanted to go and do something; a trip to the pub or a cycle around london until they found something to do. it meant no videos to film for their channel's or for anyone else's, and it meant no livestreams to stream. it meant lounging in bed or on the sofa, all day and with no need to get up for any reason, with disney+ nature documentaries half started because they were far too cosy and comfortable and kept falling asleep.
peaceful, in a hot country, meant time to themselves with only each other to talk to. it meant intellectual conversations and compliments to the surrounding area as they took slow walks into the town centre for dinners. it meant laying in the sun, whether it be on the beach or by their private pool, with no silliness around to disturb the quiet and no one to take their attention away from the other.
-
"i figured, since tomorrow is our last night here, maybe we could go out for one last meal at our favourite place? get that dessert we keep eyeing up," yn suggests to him, wearing nothing but one of his tees which hung low enough to show her naked flesh, dried bikini still on her body from spending the afternoon in the pool, "i really need one final gyros so i can go home happily fed."
"yeah," he nods softly, looking up from his phone and over to where she was sitting crossed-legged on a sun lounger, skin beautifully sun-kissed and tanned but a little burnt around her shoulders. the sun setting in the distance, painting the sky with the most gorgeous mix of oranges and yellows, creating a beautifully bright reflection on the surface of the sea in the horizon that even his sunglasses couldn't protect his eyes from, "that sounds good. fancy going out tonight or shall we cook here?"
"may as well eat the last of the food here, no? do another barbecue or something," she suggests, rolling her head back as she basked in the last minute sunshine before it disappeared behind the walls of their villa, "maybe we could give the hot tub another go, as well."
"i'm gonna miss that thing," arthur laughs softly, "maybe even more of a reason to move out together and get a house."
"you wanna live with me?" yn asks sweetly, uncrossing her legs and placing her feet on the tiled floor beneath her, still warm from where the sun had been bathing it all day, "you really wanna live with me?"
he watches her as she stands to her feet, arms stretched out and her fingers wiggling in his direction, hopeful that he'd take hold of her hands and stand to his own feet... which he did. guiding his arms to her waist before wrapping her own arms around his neck, forearms on his shoulders, fingers stroking the damp hairs at the nape of his neck.
"i think i love that idea, mister television," she grins up at him and he gives her a squeeze, tightening his arms around her waist and lifting her off the ground, "maybe we could look into that when we get back home? not right away but-"
"no, right away," he smiles, her legs wrapping around his waist and her ankles hooking at the base of his back, "i want to spend every single day of my life with you. i want to wake up next to you, i want to go to sleep next to you, i want to cook you breakfast and cook you dinner every day. having you be a part of my daily routine."
"this sounds like a marriage proposal," she says it in a joking manner and raises her eyebrows, but all he can muster is a roll of his eyes - he really couldn't give himself away. he'd managed to wait all week, with perfect opportunities coming up, but he wanted to do it right. a way she would remember and gush about everytime someone asked. "i want all of that, too,"
"good," he presses a kiss to her forehead and sets her back down on the ground, "go get in the shower. i'll get dinner started then i'll come and join you."
"or we could just," she drags her hands around his upper body before settling just above the waistband of his swimming trunks, "we could just have a late dinner tonight? you can come join me, right now, then i can help with the food prep, yeah? i can make the salad?"
"are we really gonna talk about food right now?"
she teasingly tucks her fingers into the waistband beneath her tips and she can see the blush covering his cheeks.
"you really can't turn me down, can you, arthur?"
she retracts her hands and moves away from him, starting her walk back into the villa, hearing his shuffling footsteps behind her... of course he couldn't resist her.
-
if there was one thing yn hated about a holiday, it was the last day.
how she had to pack away her belongings and fold all of her clothes up neatly, how she had to have one final shower under a shower head with the most perfect water pressure that never amounted to her own shower back home, how she had to figure out what outfit she wanted to wear during their plane journey back to gatwick because the london weather was so unpredictable - she wanted to show off her tan but she wanted to be warm, knowing the temperate was never going to reach the temperature they'd become used to over the last week or so.
the dreaded final night's sleep where the strong desire in not wanting to go home sat low in her stomach and played on her mind, wanting to stay in the sunshine for more than just their holiday.
she wasn't quiet in letting him know her desire to stay for another week, too... in every moment of silence, she broke it with her want to spend every day of her life there. and as tempting as it was to book them into another hotel on another island, arthur thought that it felt too late.
but he made it clear that they would be back. without a doubt. and she was okay with that.
with their suitcases almost packed and their dressing tables looking bare from their belongings and their bedside tables looking sparse from their gadgets and chargers, the room felt boring and empty as the two of them left for their final night in the greek town they'd been calling home for the week. one more night with yn dressed in one of her summer dresses and one more night with arthur dressed in a pair of shorts and a loose shirt that complimented the tan he had picked up from the days spent in the sunshine.
except, this time, his pocket felt a little heavier.
all day, his stomach was in knots; his mind fearing for the worst. because, regardless of how well the week had gone, she could still say no... and, really, he had no idea what he was going to do it she said no to his marriage proposal. and that's why he wanted it - no, it's why he needed it to be almost perfect.
their favourite restaurant had been one by the sea, under a fabric cabana, located just a steps distance away from the sandy beach. the atmosphere of traditional greek music, the gentle lighting and the laughter bringing them back almost every night of their holiday and it was one place they were going to miss.
a table laid out in its usual format; a vase with some fresh flowers poking out the top, a citronella candle lit to keep the bugs away, big wine glasses ready to fill with their choice of red or white and place mats that matched the vibe of the entire restaurant. the smell of fresh seafood filling the air and
and it was the one place that arthur felt was just right.
with their bellies full of chicken gyros and tzatziki and chips, having demolished the food that came out on their plates, he needed just a moment before he popped the question.
"i really am going to miss the greek food," yn frowns down at the empty plate in front of her before she looks up to meet his eyes, "no matter how many times we try to perfect it at home, it just never hits the same."
"i don't know, i think you nailed it the first time you tried it," he smiles, his hand laid upon the table and holding her hand tightly, his thumb brushing over her knuckles softly, "george still goes on about it, to this day."
"i was terrified i gave him food poisoning that night," yn cackles out loud and arthur just rolls his eyes, "seriously! it was the first time i cooked it properly and i was so nervous for everyone to try it."
"but it was delicious," arthur admits and yn grins widely, "like a taste of home away from home."
the two of them fall silent and it's just the remaining customers in the restaurant who are filling the silence between them, mixed with the crashing of the waves just a few feet away from where they were sat, and he can feel the ring burning a hole in the pocket of his chino shorts.
it was now or never.
"have you had a good time this week?" arthur asks her and she nods with a smile on her lips; the kind of smile that could have split her face in two, with crinkles forming at the corner of her eyes and her teeth on show, "it was all about you, this week. you've been working so hard and you deserved a break."
"not as hard as you," she claims and he shakes his head, "seriously, arthur, you paid for all of this as a surprise for me. i know you've been working your arse off these last few months to make this happen, it was clear as day once i figured what was happening. and i don't know how to thank you for all of this."
"you don't need to thank me," he says, "just you being here, spending time with me, coming away with me. that's all i can ask for."
"i'm so lucky to have you," she squeezes his hand and he can feel his eyes beginning to sting with rampant tears that he was trying to hold back, "seriously. i love you so much and you've excelled yourself this week."
"well, i'm just as lucky to have you in my life," and this was it... the moment the whole week had been leading up to; he had no words, no script, no notes to go off of. everything he was about to say, it was on the spot and from the heart and he hoped, to god, that he didn't miss anything he wanted to say, "and i am. i really am the luckiest guy in the world to get to call you my girlfriend. we've done a lot together in the last few years and i can't wait for many more trips here or any country in the world."
he stands up from his chair and, for a moment, he can see the sudden realisation in her eyes as she clocks on to what was about to happen. her hands clasping over her mouth is shock. and as he dug his hand into his pocket, he grips onto the box for dear life... scared to lose it, to drop it, because that would be the perfect start to their next step.
"i love you, i'm always going to love you, and it would be an honour to get to love you, and only you, for the rest of our lives," he bends down on one knee beside her sitting stance and opens the box, "will you marry me and make me the happiest man in the world?"
he watches as her eyes swell with tears and he can feel his own begin to dribble down his cheek, his big brown eyes looking softer than ever, and she can't hold back the emotions that were bubbling to escape.
"of course i will," she grins widely and he slides the ring onto her ring finger, shining under the lights above them, and as they stand to their feet in front of each other, her arms wrap around his neck, "god, this whole week, you had me fooled. i didn't think this was how we were spending out last night."
"i'm just full of surprises," he squeezes her to his front and he never wanted to let her go, "i love you so much."
"i love you too," she whispers into his ear, pressing a kiss to his cheek before she pulled away, "fiancé." xx

Spoilers for ch 22 of "The Circular Conundrum"...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Excerpt from chapter 22 of “The Circular Conundrum” by @soontobecyborg!! I adore this series and you should, too.
(ID in alt and under cut)
ID: 1a. Close up of the Guide’s gloved hands holding a plain shoebox with a silver-gold bow on top. She says, “Now there is one more gift…” 1b. Wide shot of the Guide standing in her usual black hat, blouse, and long skirt, holding the box and saying “It’s just a little something Tessa and Quinn snuck through airport security.” She smirks at the box and playfully spins it and throws it up in the air a few times. Behind her, Tessa, dressed in a leather jacket and skirt, plays at a sappy smile, one hand pressed to her chest. Quinn, dressed in a long black tee shirt dress, has an arm around Tessa and smirks at the scene. In the foreground, Guillermo looks up and over his shoulder at them in curiosity, the top of child Colin’s head visible at his side. The Guide continues, “You probably don’t even want it after all the amazing gifts you’ve just gotten.” 1c. Close up of the box in the Guide’s hands again as she concludes, “Maybe I’ll throw it in the fire…” The box immediately shakes and screeches in complaint. 1d. Zoom out as Guillermo, wearing a striped shirt with rolled sleeves, suspenders, green chinos, and his new Rolex rainbow Daytona watch, stands up and snatches the box from the Guide’s hands, clutching it close and staring down at it in shock. He asks urgently, “How long has he been in there?!” The Guide cackles and replies, “A few hours.” 1e. Bust shot of Guillermo as he lifts the lid of the box, snapping his head up as what was inside zooms out with an audible flap of wings.
2a. The motion lines from the box lead to a poof of smoke as Nandor appears back in human form, wearing the brown kaftan and diamonds patterned overcoat from season 4 episode 1. He spreads his arms out wide and grins, announcing, “Surprise!” 2b. Repeat. Guillermo launches into frame and onto Nandor, arms thrown around his neck and legs kicked up in the air, sending Nandor stumbling back in surprise. 2c. Zoom in to their embrace, Guillermo’s back to the viewer with his arms and legs locked around Nandor. Nandor brings his arms tightly around Guillermo to press him even closer, eyes closed in bliss and nose buried behind his ear. The background erupts into happy yellow bubbles. 2d. Close up of Guillermo’s face buried in Nandor’s hair, trembling with emotion, eyes tightly shut and glasses knocked askew. 2e. Close up of Nandor’s face buried in Guillermo’s shoulder, looking like he has exhaled for the first time in months.
3a. Wide reaction shot of the rest of the room. In the foreground, Laszlo is sitting on a loveseat in a dark red suit jacket with a red pussybow and red and black striped pants, hands laced together in his lap and smirking. Child Colin sits leaning against him in a green tee shirt, idly humming and not paying attention. Nadja stands behind them in her red and black striped dress from season 4 episode 1, one hand on her hip and the other raised to her mouth in a fist as she pointedly and loudly fake-coughs into it. Derek stands in the background in a leather jacket and dark gray button up with a chain necklace, awkwardly smiling with his arms held straight down at his sides. The Guide is leaning casually against his shoulder with a smile, arms crossed, as she watches the embrace with as much interest as Laszlo. 3b. Close up of Nandor and Guillermo in profile as they break apart, gazes locked. Nandor has one hand pressed to Guillermo's arm and the other cradling his cheek, smiling down at him with aching softness and love as he says, "Happy birthday, Guillermo." Guillermo looks up at him in wonder, smiling like he can't believe it, hands sliding down from Nandor's shoulders. He breathes out, "You came." 3c. Close up of Nandor as he straightens with a silly grin, waving his hand around nonchalantly. He replies, " Of course! You did promise to do something on your next birthday where I could attend also." 3d. Close up of both in profile as Nandor grins down at Guillermo teasingly, continuing, "So here I am. Attending." He boops Guillermo's nose with one finger. Guillermo, hands pressed to Nandor's chest, just gazes up at him happily. 3e. Repeat. Guillermo surges up on his tiptoes and presses his mouth joyously to Nandor's, one hand clutching at the back of his neck and the other reaching around his shoulder to press him closer. Nandor's eyes fly open in brief shock.
4a. Repeat. Nandor gets with the program quickly, closing his eyes and pressing his hand to the dip in Guillermo's waist as he returns the kiss with something like relief. Guillermo laces his fingers together at the back of Nandor's neck. 4b. Repeat. They turn slightly, deepening the kiss as one of Guillermo's hands slides down to cup Nandor's cheek and the other makes a fist in his hair. Both of Nandor's large hands slide up Guillermo's back, desperate to touch anything he can. 4c. Extreme closeup on Nandor's face as Guillermo licks into his mouth, Nandor's eyes flying wide open and bulging in shock. 4d. Zoom out to full body as Nandor suddenly grips Guillermo's arms in both hands and pushes him back to break the kiss, much to the latter's shock. Nandor throws his head back, eyes watering profusely, tongue out and fully on fire, screaming "Owowow ow ow!!" 4e. Repeat. Nandor runs off frantically, arms straight out in front of him, trailing smoke and licks of flame. Guillermo stands frozen in place, an anxious sweat forming on his brow as he brings one hand to his mouth in shock. He mumbles to himself, "Oh no, the holy water." Nandor shouts back, "Mmmm-mmm-mmm!" /end ID

Casual Friday
Henry’s luggage is somewhere over the pacific going in the complete wrong direction.
He fantasizes that this would never happen to someone with a private jet.
The heat of LA is overwhelming in his trousers and sweater. His carry-on is a Burberry weekender that has his meds, toiletries and a few books. He’s going to have a buy a whole weeks worth of clothes.
He’s being picked up from airport by his new publisher. He’s on the curb and realizes that he didn’t pass the typical dark suited person holding a sign with his name. He’s looking around and opens his rapidly dying phone to call his contact, Zahra. Before he can type out the message, a red open jeep screeches to a halt in front him. After the dust settles, Henry sees brown curls, a sharp jaw cresting into a chin dimple, a perfect nose holding up aviator sunglasses that reflect Henry’s hapless expression. The curls are cut short but he’s imagining them longer and draped over his shoulder as… wait - is the most attractive man he’s ever seen walking towards him?
“Fox?” The southern drawl that comes out is honey smooth and adorable. He nods and this seems to amuse the gorgeous human who smirks and takes off his aviators. When he pulls the sunglasses off his face Henry notices his sinfully long fingers that he wants to suck into his mouth.
“Is that all you brought?” Adonis asks Henry who still hasn’t said a word. He shakes his head, “The airline lost my luggage.”
“So you need to go shopping?” Eros asks Henry who barely trusts himself to speak so he just nods. The brown eyes of Adonis sparkle and Henry isn’t sure why.
“Well then, Sweetheart. I’ve got just the place. Hop in. Oh! I’m Alex!” Henry’s fucked. “Hi, I’m Henry.”
“Oh I know, let’s get a move on.” Alex winks and takes Henry’s bag from his shoulder and stores it in the jeep.
A short drive full of getting to know you things later…
“Here we are!” Alex pulls in a gravel parking area with an old wooden A-frame store front with gold letters reading Vintage.
“I was expecting…” Henry starts.
“Rodeo drive, your majesty?” Alex smiles wide.
“Not exactly… but maybe one of those malls you’re all so proud of.” Henry looks over the well kept building.
“C’mon, give it a shot.” Alex claps him on the shoulder and walks him into the shop.
A bells rings when they enter, Alex leads Henry to a section of the store.
“Ok, there’s chinos and button ups but there’s some great denim for your readings and these amazing vintage t-shirts.” Alex is pointing in various directions and Henry cannot keep up.
“Sorry, too much?” Alex asks, wincing a little.
“No, I’m not a great shopper. I tend to get anxious.” Henry’s admits as he looks around at the decor on the walls. It’s got rich colors and accents that could border on over stuffed but isn’t.
“Can I pull a few things for you?” Alex asks.
“Yes… I think that’s would be helpful.” Henry is nervous that he’ll just buy whatever Alex picks out for him.
“Stellar!” Alex is off to the races, “oh! Sizes?” Henry tells him and turns to a rack of khakis. He finds a few trousers in his size, a few button up shirts that are neutral colors. He takes his finds to the dressing room where Alex has set up a dressing room full of selections.
“Jesus, we have got to work on your wardrobe.”
“My look is… classic.” Henry’s sticks out his chin.
“Absolutely! But also boring as fuck.” Alex gives him a cheeky smile.
“What’s your plan then?” Henry looks around his selections.
“Picture it! Color… on… your clothes!” Alex does silly magician flourishes and Henry honest to god giggles.
“I am in LA for professional reasons.” Henry’s reminds him.
“And I pulled several business casual options but! You could dress more your age, relate more to your audience, maybe even… gasp… show some personality.” Alex teases.
“Why would my readers care about my personality?” Henry’s quirks and eyebrow.
“They are obsessed enough to come to a reading, they are interested in you. Authenticity, well it’s something that not everyone can give but I see you can. I think showing more of yourself will resonate with your readers. They might even feel seen.” The sincerity on Alex’s face when he says to Henry makes his inside molten with feelings.
“That’s… exactly how I wanted people to feel with my first book. I… Pez, he’s the only one who sees me.” Henry shares.
“He’s a very lucky human.” Alex says low and a little… Henry can’t place it.
“He is, we became best mates at Eton and it was like he saw straight through the uniform and confident facade and saw me. It meant everything to me and I wouldn’t be who I am today without him.” Henry smiles nostalgically.
“I’m so glad you’ve got him in your corner.” Alex says and Henry can’t believe he’s real.
“Alright, Foxy, let’s try so stuff on!” Alex turns and Henry would swear he wipes his eyes before picking up a few hangers. “Here ya go! Shopping montage!” Alex sits in an overstuffed purple chair and Henry closes the curtain.
Henry tries the trousers first and two of them fit fine, third are too long.
“Hurry up! I wanna see something! Also, I’m almost done with the pick up order for essentials. Any special requests?”
“See something? I’m trying on trousers, I don’t think I need assistance in deciding if they fit or not, Mum!” Henry’s being cheeky.
“I’ll be the judge of that!” Alex calls back. Henry smiles and rolls his eyes. Henry puts on the bright blue button up and navy trousers and opens the curtain.
Alex looks up from his phone and his smile makes Henry’s brain fuzzy.

Summary: Ever wonder how more about our leading lady and how Valentina ‘Val’ Toretto, met two members of the Fast Family? Take a look.
—-
It was midway through the day, the streets were roughly empty expect for a few cars. It was Friday, so people were out at work. That resulted in children playing the streets with their mother’s watching them, some people on motorcycles, and the sound of music being played all across town. It was a somewhat cloudy day, so it wasn’t too bad but the weather was high and very humid.
Santos was chatting around town, greeting everyone taking his sweet time reaching the market. Val was waiting for him, since she went to shop for food as he left to buy beer. Finally he arrived with a sly smile.
“Sorry. The line was long?” Santos apologies taking her hand walking down the street with her.
“Line? Que line? No—you were talking.” Val remarked chuckling holding the bags of green plantains.
“If Tia is mad, I’m blaming you.”
“Alright, vamos! Hablas demasiado.”
Val gasp laughing slapping him his shoulder as Santos laughed. Soon enough they arrived at the house, they handed the food and beer over to Tia, Issy and Jessica.
Meanwhile at the airport, Han walked out holding his girlfriend, Sofi, hand looking around the the place. The two chatted gazing the place until someone called out their names, a escort for them, welcoming them to Dominican Republic as Anthony Santos played inside the car.
—-
When they arrived, Dom was fixing a car with two kids nearby him, grounded again. Han decided to take a complain about the heat in which Dom scoffed at how he’s already complaining. Even said why couldn’t they stay at a hotel. Sofi was waving a hand in front of herself feeling the heat calm down on her as well. Of course it’s hot here with no air conditioning around to cool them off, only the richer ones ordered one. So suck it up Han.
Val was outside hand washing some clothes with Issy talking. Santos left to find Dom at that point, pointing out the two newbies who have arrived. But like anything, the word got around as the kids whispered about newbies catching Issy’s attention.
Issy nudged with a smirk, “¿De qué están hablando estos niños? ¿Hay dos chinos aquí?”
“Son algunos amigos que Dom invitó.” Val repiled shrugging with a simple smile.
Issy leaned back eyeing the short hair girl turning back to her friend, “La chica, sin embargo, es flaca.”
Val cringe for a second before looking at the girl for herself and hissed, “No te preocupes. Un poco de moro de habichuelas, carne de cerdo y plátanos arreglará eso.”
Issy chuckling nodding in a agreement, “Pero ella es bonita!”
“Muy bonita!” Val repiled nodding with a smile, but before she can say anything else she caught one of the kids before running into the kitchen, “Hey! No, sal de ahí!”
She picked up the kid, Antonio, holding his hand walking him over to where the others were. She sighs, “I swear theses kids never learn..go play or something.”
Sofi was walking around carrying her bad over her shoulder stumbling into the path and asked, “Um eh-crap. Hola? Sorry Spanish, isn’t my first language..”
Val was waving off Antonio to go play and turned to face girl with a chuckle, “Uh hey. Is there anything i can do for you?”
“Oh thank god you speak English…your English is not bad.”
“Uh thanks? Born in a America, the states, but some spend time here.”
“Oh that’s cool! So um you know Dom then?”
“I know him. He’s my brother. Hi, Val Toretto.”
She hold out a hand and the other girl shaked it.
Sofi stood there awkwardly for a moment and half smiled softly, “Hm Soffi Sasaki, nice to meet you. One question..”
“Shoot.” Val replied walking back over to the yard, motioning for her to obviously follow her, stopping herself from rolling her eyes.
“Why is it so hot here? Couldn’t we uh..stay at a hotel or something?”
“Hotel?! I-muchacha you’re kidding right?”
“What? Did i say something wrong?”
“It’s hot here, embrace it! Dominican Republic is hot almost every day.”
“Um okay, I’ll try. Um w-what did you call me earlier ‘much..cha’?”
“Oh, muchacha! It means women, girl, lady. All the stuff.”
“Isn’t it señora..?”
“Well yeah we use that too, but different country equals different slang.”
“H-how long have you lived here?”
“Uh 7 years or so? Maybe less..”
“Oh um..wow. You know the land then?”
“Yeah sorta. My brother is the one who moves around more than i do.”
“You’re Spanish is good..”
“You can thank my friends for that one.”
The girls kept talking as they entered the kitchen, Valentina automatically started to put Soffi to work, Tia’s orders to at least do something. They asked if they had guys in their lives, work, stuff they liked to do, clothes, daily lives and etc. Val even teases Soffi calling Han, who she met earlier from Dom introducing him to the group, girlfriend and boyfriend. Soffi blushes brightly and asked if she was dating anyone to get a rise from her, Val shake her head ‘no’.
Thankfully food was served, everyone sat down a table chatting and smiling, cracking a few jokes. Antonio’s older brother Micheal took a bite, in which Jessica slapped his hand and reminded him of Dom’s rule. First bite, you gotta say grace. Later on, Dom explained the plan to them, break out an old friend from jail.
————
It took some work and breaking a few bylaws to do, especially from Val opening a gate with pliers to do so. Once it was done, Leo was out of prison as they all scurried into a old school bar for a quick refresher and to grab Letty. Han was being flirted with by a short, curvy woman with wide freeing curly hair, named Cara.
Val was drinking a Mamajuana as she noticed the conversation and then tossed Soffi a presidente, who catch it quickly examining the alcohol in her hand.
She hesitated to drink and glanced at the girl, “Um, i don’t know..”
“It’s fine, just one bottle. I’m usually not a huge drinker but weeks like this and a simple prison break, you deserve it.” Val explained.
“Um, okay i’ll drink to that. You seem rather confident Valentina.”
“Just Val, please.”
“Okay Val. How did you end up here?”
“What do you mean?”
“Living like this. I’m just from Tokyo and a simple street racer. How did you end up like this?”
Val hesitated for a second, that was a first time Soffi saw her that way. From the moment she was introduced to her, 49 hours ago, she saw a confident and cool young women. Since Val greeted Soffi, all she did was eye her and asked her some questions every once in a while. Cracking a joke or sipping her drink, meeting people and watching everyone who walked by.
But hesitation was a bit of a surprise. Soffi thought she overstepped saying that, rarely knowing anything about this girl and asking that question made her go quiet for a second. But before she can say anything Val distracted her and said, “Oh hey isn’t that Han with Cara?”
“Huh? Who?” Soffi asked, looking over her shoulder noticing the sight herself, “Ohh…that’s okay.”
“Isn’t he your boyfriend? Go dance with him or Cara might.”
“It’s fine. Han won’t do that.”
“Soffi. It’s a party, everyone is a little tipsy and having fun, go for it.”
The short haired girl knew that something was happening that she switched the conversation on her, since Val practically pushed her into Han’s direction. Soffi stumbled over to Han holding her beer bottle with a smile, looking over to see Val was already gone leading two guys across the bar.
She sighed, soon changing gears asking Han to dance with her, he happily walked over to the floor, leaving Cara to chat with the bartender instead. On the other side of the bar, Val was chatting with the two guys with a smile siping her beer as she noticed Dom was having his own fun on the couch.
That was until Letty showed up with a smirk, winking at Val.
She gave her a smile hug smirking and asked, “Where is he?”
“Where do you think?” Val replied motions her over to the girls on the couch with Dom, smirking back.
“Incredible. All I had to do is follow the smell of Skanks.”
“Ain’t that hard to track him down.”
“Or you! Took me hours to track your ass down to this side of the D.R.”
“Hey, i just follow his lead. And the food is always good.”
“Yeah, whatever. Meet you outside in 10?”
“You know it.”
Letty kisses her cheek, waving goodbye not before glaring at the guys who Val was talking to a minute again. As she was off to grab Dom away from the party, holding a duffel bag with a smirk hiding behind a simple glare. Soffi was dancing with Han noticing Dom and Letty walking out confused as to who she was, but didn’t bother to ask since Han was twirling her around in glee. Her laughter could be heard, as Han smiled brightly.
———
The next day, Val woke up in a small hotel room nearby the building that held last nights party, looking over the nightstand to see a note from Dom saying ‘Gone out with Letty to the beach. Enjoy yourself. Love, Dom’. She rolled her eyes chuckling, not surprised he went out to take his women on a daytime trip to the lower countryside. That left Val to have a day all to herself.
So she headed out to do her usual routine. After breakfast she would make her way downtown to the market, greeting people, looking at the price tags to motorcycles as she catching a ride on the back of a pickup truck with a bunch of other people and so much more. Stop and stare at the plenty of music being played from across the streets, as some guys would catcall her out loud or even make kissy faces, Val would just roll her eyes groaning in disbelief. Sometimes she will laugh at them though.
Usually Val tends to do things with others of the family and friends she was happily provided with. But over the last few years, she didn’t get to see much of them. With her sister living in the states, the death of a friend while the others just drifted away with time, Dom finding himself with jobs to do, Letty always heading out and the list goes on. Yeah sure, she’s open to plenty of stuff to do, but sometimes she can get a bit lonely and decided that, it isn’t so bad to be by herself. It hurts sometimes, however sometimes she rather just get herself into trouble on her own.
Come lunchtime, she would head over Tia’s place for some food. But today, she decided to treat herself to a simple restaurant for some salami, queso frito, arroz blanco with eggs and tostones. Sound like a lot of food but she’s hungry and it’a delicious according to the waitress who served her, when she asked for a mixture of recommendations. So Val decided to mix it up and eat that whole plate. Of course she had a soda and water to go with it.
She snapped out of her thoughts realizing the time, rushing out of the restaurant thanking the waitress for the delicious meal and drinks, heading over to Tia’s to help out with anything and just chat with Issy. That same afternoon, around 5:00pm, Val found herself walking along the sidewalk landing towards the beaches of the Dominican Republic.
It’s one of the many things she adored about the country. The sun hits just right in the afternoon, the waves are calm on most days, the water was so fresh and cold that it can practically heal your skin’s texture to becoming softer, people always come with their partners and family and or something they come alone to relax. Not just that, nearby the beach there were places to sit, eat and drink if you like. Music would play as the corners of the beach, it felt like Paradise to her.
Today she brought a chair, her bag and ordered a coconut to be sliced open as she drank it without a straw. She removed her t-shit to reveal a deep red bikini top, rising back her black $1 dollar sunglasses she stole got from a random store 5 years ago with a smile, only to drop downs the sunglasses as she heard voices.
“Co—” Val stopped herself from saying that bad word out loud knowing there are children, seeing the people who spoke, “-i mean. Hi.”
It was Soffi again wearing a blue dress, it appears like Han left to grab extra chairs or something. “Hey!” She replied with a smile, “I um didn’t think to see you here.”
“Nope. Me either. Why?”
“Cara and Leo recommended this beach and we decided why not.”
“Of course they did..”
“You don’t seem too excited to see us?”
Val eyes widen sheepishly putting her coconut onto her lap and exclaimed, “Oh no—i mean i am. I just wanted some time to myself i guess?”
“You sure? Um-uh we can leave if you like. I’m getting the feeling this isn’t about right now.” Soffi replied taking a seat next to her, pushing back her bangs.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, are you okay? I must’ve said something wrong last night or whatever to pull you away..If i did, I’m so sorry.”
“Mm hm, okay. Look Soffi, I’m fine. And uh, about what you said last night. I don’t remember.”
“Lies..”
“What?”
“You’re lying. You pushed me towards my boyfriend last night instead of answering my questions.”
“Because Cara was flirting and questioning Han. If i had a boyfriend, i would’ve examine that situation!”
“He’s my boyfriend, i can handle it.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
Soffi got annoyed and Val got defensive. She walked away, over to the bar to get another coconut as Han returned eating nuts, asking if she was okay. She lied, saying to go check on his girlfriend. Han stopped her, saying that whatever happened last night to try and let it out or talk about with somebody.
Val just scoffed walking away, looking at the bartender to another coconut and rolled her eyes at the man who eyeing her. She rather not have any of that today, not in the mood.
She wouldn’t mind meeting somebody on the beach and start a romantic getaway with them for a weekend, hang out with family and friends like she used to and stop the running across the country. But it’s not possible. At least, not yet.
Originally it was supposed to be a less than few weeks in the Dominican Republic to spend time with Dom and return home to be around Mia. However after returning every once in a while to the country, theses weeks turned into months. Now it resulted in 7 years of living conditions and travels, being underground without being seen from anyone that worked in the U.S. or return to the states for long. Don’t get Valentina wrong, she loves it here.
But sometimes get it’s a little lonely and harder with the heist they have to pull off soon. And she can’t imagine going back to the states either. Her life was there, a lost time to make up for, but a life. Sometimes she feels like it was her fault, but she can’t just blame herself or trade it for the world. Her family choose this life or the life choose her and the issues that followed behind it. But still it stinks a bit sometimes.
Somebody tapped her shoulder, Val hissed yelling, “Han i said i was fine! Or if that guys from the bar—” she pauses seeing it was Soffi again sighing, “—yes?”
“You don’t have to give me attitude you know?” Soffi barked at her the girl and rubbed her face from the heat, “I just wanted to know if you’re okay.”
“Why? We barley know each other. We just met yesterday.”
“You are mad, i see that. But Val, look I overstepped last night or something. I’m sorry. If that, you were asking me questions i just wanted to ask you some.”
“Gotcha.”
“It’s only fair.”
“Look Sof, i don’t make friends as easily as possible. And I’m sorry i was rude. But I’m not in the mood to talk about my feelings right now.”
“…okay. What do you want to talk about?”
“Uh, I don’t know. What do you got?”
“Well, I don’t know actually.”
“Oh god..”
Val can already tell this girl was a piece of work, getting on her nerves and giving rising her temper a bit. But a part of her kinda liked that, somebody who can annoyed the shit out of her and push her buttons a bit, even if it makes her wanna punch a wall. She reminded her Vince, with being able to annoy her sometimes.
“You wanna something about me huh?” Val said with her arms across.
“Y-yeah? I guess, tell me anything.” Soffi replied with a smile.
“I hate a huge ass pushover, someone who doesn’t always think for themselves. They need a little confidence.”
“W-what if they don’t have a confidence? You hate them then?”
“Not exactly. Because eventually when you roll with Dom’s crew you grow to have some confidence and speak up when you like. Get your point across.”
“Okay um..sounds like you speak from experience? Were you—are you a pushover?”
“I can be a bit of a pushover depending on the person calling the shots but usually, i try to say something if I’m feeling pissed off.”
“Note to self, don’t piss you off?”
“Like i said, depends on the person. Another thing, I’m human, so i get sensitive about certain topics.”
“Me too. I mean, everyone can get sensitive right?”
“Yeah, what do you want to know about me?”
—-
Soffi wanted to ask the question from last night, ‘How did you end up like this?’ Or ‘How did you end up here?’ But she guessed that it might accidentally scare her off or something again.
So Soffi decided on another question and asked, “So, do you have a boyfriend or uh, girlfriend?”
“Um no boyfriend. And I don’t swing that other way either.” She replied sipping her coconut.
“Oh um okay. Sorry I didn’t know. Why though? You are smart, way more confident than i am and very pretty—”
“I’mma stop you right there, girl. Thanks for the compliment but you’re pushing it. No offense.”
“Sorry, but it’s true.”
“Uh, sweetheart, who’s the one with the boyfriend here? Me or you?”
“Me?”
“Exactly.”
“So? I’m just saying—”
“I know but you’re making yourself sound smaller when you clearly don’t need to be. You’re pretty and you’re pushing the line here.”
“But why don’t have a boyfriend?”
“Just haven’t found the right one yet. I mean, i went on date or two before but..”
“But what?”
“But they weren’t just right.”
“So you never had a boyfriend before?”
“Oh i did, his name was Leon. First relationship I ever had and Dom approved of him thankfully.”
“What happened?”
“We moved on. It was short lived relationship, but stayed friends. How about you and Han?”
“It was love at first sight.”
The girls smiled.
Val joked with a laugh, “Oh nahhh! Of course it was. Booo.”
“What?” Soffi said with a smile, “It’s true! We saw each other at a race and I fell for him.”
“Of course. Ain’t surprised.”
“Don’t believe in love?”
“Ah well, I know it exist due to my brother and you being in love. But I don’t think it’s for everyone.”
“Alright fair.”
Val smirked, “Alright, five bucks. If my next relationship turns out well, you get five dollars.”
“But it has to actually be love.” Soffi said with a hint of a smirk on her face, “Then I get the five dollars.”
“Hmm, you ain’t never getting those dollars then.”
“We’ll see about that.”
The girls smiled, returning back to the beach to find Han eating his fruits waiting for them with a smile. To day Valentina Toretto met two friends that week an understatement, they would become part of the huge team they would create soon. A family.
Also, little did she know in a few long years Soffi will be getting a solid five dollars, after years of trying to find Valentina a boyfriend.

Comments still not on. I made a post and posted it (look under #Joe Alwyn)with the following information and a photo of Joe arriving at the airport dressed and carrying Bottega Veneta bag followed by a link to the article.. I did not say that he has an on-going representation with either Bottega Veneta or Piaget because I do know know if he does.
My posted message: Joe is carrying a $5120.45 Bottega Veneta bag and is wearing a Bottega Veneta “printed leather chino jacket, a cotton rib tank top, medium washed straight denim, acetate panthos sunglasses, and haddock boat shoes” totaling well over $11,000. He wore two Piaget watches in Cannes: one $31,900, one about $15,000. He wore two Celine Suits.
Just saying for anyone who believes that Joe Alwyn is jobless. . .
Just reblogged thank you so much 😊

s3 ryan atwood
i, along with many other people (i assume), was not too happy about the characterization of ryan in s3 but after starting to rewatch the season i noticed that... it's completely realistic?
we've got to consider this.
ryan used to live in chino, where he thought there was no hope for him, for his future. and then, trey stole a car and he had to get in, so that he didn't get caught. he met sandy, and his whole life changed. he finally had a family he could always rely on, friends who always had his back. but he was always scared of messing things up. anyway, after the events of s1, he felt okay. he wasn't dating marissa anymore but he met lindsay. and she made him extremely happy. then she left, and he was sad again, but him and marissa reconnected shortly after. and then... his brother is back from prison and the boy (understandably) is reluctant to trust him at first and trey makes him feel like a bad person for not trusting him. the whole thing with the 'risky business' egg happens and he's tired. he's so, so tired and dissapointed. didn't he get out of chino? didn't he get away from basically having to parent his mom and his brother? he goes to miami. and when gets back, things are strange. he thinks marissa cheated on him. theresa convinces him, 'no, that can't be.'. and then he finds out. trey sa'd marissa. how could he? how could he just hurt marissa like that? he goes to fight him - but this is something he doesn't do anymore. he almost dies. then marissa comes - the only thing she can do is take the gun and shoot trey. ryan is torn up. he's so, so angry at trey for what he did. he feels guilty for attacking him. and he feels conflicted about what marissa did. what trey did was horrible but... he was some of the only family ryan had left at the time.
well, s3 rolls around and now ryan is being accused of having shot trey. but marissa doesn't back down, she stays on his side - his own brother accuses ryan after being blackmailed by julie cooper (being framed for attempted manslaughter by julie cooper - just an ordinary day for ryan) but then, the truth comes out. oh, and his adoptive mother, who gave him stability compared to his mother who was an alcoholic is in rehab... because she is too.
the season already starts out rough for him, it won't possibly get worse... right? wrong.
expelled from school, let back in, punches the dean, expelled again. marissa gets suspiciously close with a guy at her new school who has feelings for her, a situation all too familiar to ryan. he has to help the guy several times - oh, and volchok's there now too, a guy who doesn't like ryan, but he keeps his cool. he's changed, he doesn't attack, he doesn't fight. then, johnny dies. this happens right after ryan gave marissa an ultimatum, and he was there, he didn't catch him fast enough. and marissa accuses him of being happy that johnny is dead. they break up, he starts dating sadie - he's happy with her, he gets into berkeley. him and sadie break up, he goes to meet his mom. she's doing well, she'll come to his graduation, then he visits berkeley. there are so many opportunities, everything makes sense now. theresa had a baby and it might be his - and his happiness is destroyed. the baby isn't his, now he's back in touch with theresa, they go to prom together. everything's good in his life. he's friends with marissa again. volchok steals the money. he fights him. back to his old ways. he has to steal a car with him. but this time... this time he doesn't get in. he doesn't steal it. he truly has changed. graduation! his mom is there, marissa's leaving, he gets a car. his mom leaves, he drives marissa to the airport. she dies. in his arms. everything that happened until this moment was for nothing.
okay, i'm not sure what this post has turned into but anyway, like, if we look at all this... of course he was the way he was in s3. who wouldn't?

when life felt good
..and then suddenly you're back in your bright pink crocs and chino shorts, standing on the porch of the resort your parents took you to for summer. You can hear the crickets in the dark lawns singing. You can see the soft glow of the lamps onto garden path. The air has cooled down and you can here the horn of the train blare from a distance. These were the few days you could genuinely enjoy without watching any TV, something that would have been quite an achievement for an 8 year old like you. You don't remember the trip way too vividly but you could see the lamps at the hotel restaurant, the cabbage field trip and ziplining at another. You could hear insects you could have never seen back at home. Fireflies glow against your window at night, as you try to catch them in the jar, only to be leaving them a couple minutes later because you wouldn't want to be treated that way. You knew that there was going to be a magic show in the hotel lawn at 7 pm, but what you didn't know was that it was arranged for by your parents. You remember the trip you took with your father down the market lane to look for the perfect gift for your sibling. You remember the ballpark and chasing the rabbits and the costume you begged to put on for a few pictures. You remember the barbie you cried for, and the kid who pushed you off the baby slide at the airport. You remember counting the trains visible from your hotel room for hours on end. You didn't have any homework to worry about, or counting the percentage you'll require to pass the grade. You remember the late night disney movies your parents wouldn't approve of. You remember having mangoes out of the crate when you'd cover every inch of your ancient home to have the Air condition on. You remember everything that's when life treated you fair, when life treated you well.

For the tmg album asks: The Life of the World To Come?
thank you so, so much for this ask - the life of the world to come was my first mountain goats album and remains the most important to me to this day <3
the best song on the album: matthew 25:21 speaks to grief in a way that is genuinely incomparable in my experience. i think it'd be a crime to suggest any other song off this album for best song.
my favorite song on the album: extremely difficult to answer. genesis 3:23 like. changed my life. i'd heard a few tmg songs before my best friend played me genesis 3:23 but wasn't Into The Goats. and since then i've been like. guy who almost exclusively listens to the mountain goats. it also had an insane impact on my original story. but if we're permitting bonus tracks too, the itunes bonus track, enoch 18:14, is like. one of the best songs in tmg's discography to me and i love it in a place beyond words.
youtube
my least favorite song on the album: my least favorite song on this album is ezekiel 7 and the permanent efficacy of grace, but like. it's still a song with complex layers of meaning and personal emotional connection for me, i very much so love and have cried to this song, the others just all outrank it.
the most overrated song on the album: psalms 40:2. people aren't wrong to love it as much as they do, but it's the song i see recognized the most off of this album and it's far from the best song on the album as a whole! no hate to psalms 40:2, just a wish that the rest of the album got More recognition.
most underrated: 1 samuel 15:23? i don't actually know the definitive lowest rated song on this album, but i also don't think i've ever seen any love for this track. it's not My Favorite of all the songs on this album? it's not top 3 for me? but it is like really important to me. it stands at the threshold to this album and stands by your side as you enter the emotional space the album occupies. it's a guardian of sorts to me, and i treasure it, and it brings me to some crystal clear memories of a beloved friend's home. the only other transitional guardian like it i can name in the discography is going to chino, which i love just as earnestly.
the banger of all bangers: i'd be lying if i didn't say psalms 40:2, straight up. to avoid repeat answers though i'm gonna shout out romans 10:9 which was my alarm clock when i worked at an airport starbucks for the 3:30 am shift and was getting at most 3 hours of sleep at a time but frequently less.
rate from 0-10: ten. i love you the life of the world to come.

How to Style a Smart Casual Jacket for Every Occasion
Tumblr media
When it comes to versatile clothing, a smart casual jacket is a key player in any wardrobe. It effortlessly bridges the gap between formal and informal, allowing you to look sharp without being overdressed. Whether you're heading to a dinner party, a business meeting, or a weekend outing with friends, the right smart casual jacket can be styled for every occasion with ease.
The trick to making a smart casual jacket work for various events lies in how you combine it with other pieces. From tailored trousers to sleek jeans, from statement accessories to understated classics, this guide will help you understand how to dress up or down in a way that suits the occasion. Styling a jacket to match the vibe can make all the difference and ensure you're comfortable, confident, and ready for anything.
A smart casual jacket isn't just a piece of clothing; it's a tool that allows you to play with your look and adapt to your surroundings. The secret to making the most of your smart casual jacket is versatility—it can be paired with many different styles, giving you options no matter where you're headed. Whether you're attending an outdoor event, a relaxed office setting, or an upscale dinner, a well-fitted smart casual jacket can make a bold statement without trying too hard.
1. Weekend Brunch
When dressing for a weekend brunch, your goal is to keep things relaxed but presentable. A smart casual jacket paired with a classic t-shirt and jeans can strike the right balance. The jacket adds an element of sophistication while keeping the overall vibe laid-back. To make it more interesting, opt for lighter colors such as beige or navy, which bring an air of relaxation and comfort. Combine this with loafers or casual sneakers, and you’re set for a stylish but easygoing brunch.
2. Office Ready
If your office embraces a relaxed dress code, a smart casual jacket can be the perfect solution for looking polished without being too formal. Pair your jacket with tailored chinos and a button-down shirt. For added elegance, you can include a pocket square or a watch to elevate the look further. Neutral colors like charcoal or navy can work wonders in this scenario, offering a professional yet comfortable aesthetic that’s suitable for most work environments.
3. Date Night
Date night is all about making a great impression while staying true to your style. A smart casual jacket can help you strike that balance effortlessly. Pair your jacket with a well-fitted shirt—you can experiment with patterns, such as subtle stripes or a gingham print—and finish with dark-wash jeans. Adding a pair of dress shoes or Chelsea boots can pull the outfit together. This look is both charming and stylish, which can boost your confidence for a great evening.
4. Outdoor Event
For an outdoor event, like a garden party or a casual wedding, your smart casual jacket should be lightweight and breathable. Linen or cotton-blend jackets are ideal choices for warmer days, as they allow you to stay comfortable while still looking put-together. You can pair the jacket with a light-colored shirt and well-fitted chinos, adding a pair of loafers to complete the look. Accessories like a simple leather belt or a classic watch can give the final touch to an effortlessly chic outdoor ensemble.
5. Meeting Friends for Coffee
When you're catching up with friends over a cup of coffee, comfort is key, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing style. A smart casual jacket over a relaxed hoodie or sweater can create a cozy yet polished look. This pairing is particularly good during the cooler months when layers add both warmth and style. Match the jacket and hoodie with slim-fit jeans and comfortable sneakers to keep the outfit on point for a casual yet stylish outing.
6. Travel in Style
Traveling often demands comfort and style in equal measure. When you're at the airport or on a train, a smart casual jacket can make you look effortlessly stylish while adding practicality. Go for a jacket with pockets to keep your essentials close. Pair it with a comfortable t-shirt, stretchable chinos, and slip-on shoes, making it easier to pass through security while staying comfortable during your journey. Darker colors can help hide any potential stains or wrinkles that may happen during travel.
7. Casual Fridays at Work
Casual Fridays are a fantastic opportunity to be comfortable without compromising your professional look. A smart casual jacket over a crisp polo shirt, paired with chinos or dark jeans, can create the perfect balance. You get the comfort of casual wear, but the jacket ensures you still appear work-ready. Opt for classic colors like navy, grey, or brown to keep it simple yet sophisticated, and round off the look with leather loafers or oxfords.
8. Family Gatherings
Family gatherings can vary in formality, but one thing that’s always appropriate is looking presentable. A smart casual jacket can be paired with a collared shirt and relaxed trousers, creating a comfortable and approachable outfit. Adding a pop of color through a shirt or a subtle pattern can make the outfit more festive. Leather sneakers or casual shoes will add to the relaxed yet put-together feel, keeping you comfortable while ensuring you look your best for any family occasion.
9. Upscale Dinner
If you’re attending an upscale dinner, a smart casual jacket can offer the right amount of refinement without going full-on formal. Opt for a dark-colored jacket, such as black or deep navy, and pair it with a crisp white shirt and tailored trousers. To give the look a more formal touch, add leather dress shoes and consider accessories like a watch or a sleek belt. The simplicity of the pieces will elevate the jacket, making it suitable for a more upscale environment.

10. Networking Events
Networking events are all about making connections and leaving an impression. A smart casual jacket can help you look confident and approachable. For these types of events, consider pairing the jacket with a collared shirt and chinos or slim-fit trousers. A pocket square can add a dash of personality to your outfit without being overwhelming. Choose colors that reflect your personality, but keep them professional. This will help you stand out while still keeping it subtle.
11. Smart Casual for the Seasons
The versatility of a smart casual jacket extends to its adaptability across seasons. During spring, lighter fabrics and brighter colors are excellent choices, while during the fall and winter, a tweed or wool-blend jacket can keep you warm and stylish. Layering is also an effective way to add style during colder months—a jacket over a knitted sweater creates depth and keeps you cozy. For summer, linen jackets provide a breathable option that looks great with casual shirts or t-shirts.
12. Accessorizing Your Smart Casual Jacket
Accessories play a significant role in how a smart casual jacket is perceived. For a more laid-back vibe, a simple wristwatch or leather bracelet works well. For a more polished look, consider a pocket square, classic watch, or belt that matches your shoes. Footwear also dramatically affects the look—from sneakers to loafers to dress shoes, the choice of shoes can transform your jacket into something fit for a variety of occasions.
13. Understanding Fit
The fit of your smart casual jacket is crucial. It should neither be too tight nor too loose—it should fit comfortably around your shoulders with enough room to layer. The sleeves should end right at your wrist bone, and the length should cover your waistband. A well-fitting jacket will make all the difference in pulling off a smart casual look effortlessly. If you’re unsure, consider getting it tailored to ensure it works perfectly with your body type.
14. Experiment with Colors and Patterns
While neutral colors are often the go-to for smart casual jackets, experimenting with colors and patterns can be a fun way to add personality to your outfit. Earthy tones like olive, brown, and burgundy can make a subtle yet stylish statement. If you want to add a bit more flair, consider checks or plaids—these patterns can add depth to your look without overpowering it. Just make sure to keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple to balance the overall look.
15. The Importance of Material
The fabric of your smart casual jacket plays a big role in determining its versatility. For example, a wool-blend jacket might be great for cooler weather, while a linen jacket is ideal for summer. Cotton jackets offer year-round wearability and are a good middle ground between warmth and breathability. Choosing the right material will not only help you stay comfortable but also make sure the jacket fits the occasion appropriately.
16. The Perfect Smart Casual Jacket for Your Body Type
The cut of the jacket can make a significant difference, depending on your body type. If you have broader shoulders, opt for a single-breasted jacket to avoid adding bulk. If you're on the slimmer side, a jacket with a slightly structured shoulder can add dimension. Understanding your body type and selecting a jacket that flatters your shape is key to pulling off any smart casual look confidently.
17. Balancing Formal and Casual Elements
The smart casual look is all about balancing formal and casual elements. Your jacket is the anchor that helps mix these two styles seamlessly. If the jacket leans more formal, like a blazer, pairing it with jeans or a t-shirt helps tone it down. Conversely, if the jacket is more relaxed, adding a crisp button-down shirt or formal trousers can elevate the look. It’s all about finding the right mix that works for both the occasion and your personal comfort.
18. Dressing for the Weather
Smart casual jackets come in various weights and materials, making them suitable for all types of weather. During colder months, opt for a heavier wool jacket or one with a lining to keep you warm. During warmer months, a light cotton or linen jacket will keep you cool while maintaining a stylish edge. The versatility of a smart casual jacket means you can easily adjust your outfit to suit the climate while always looking your best.
19. Confidence is Key
No matter how you style your smart casual jacket, the most important element is your confidence. Wearing your jacket in a way that makes you feel comfortable and authentic will always make the best impression. Personal style is all about expression, and a smart casual jacket is a versatile canvas that allows you to showcase who you are. The right outfit can make you feel more confident, and that confidence will radiate in any setting.
