there’s another tot vocal song called “where the heart belongs” but it’s not in belonging however released around the same time
ah noted i'll add that to the list, thanks!
edit: after investigating a bit (see tags), I think this might not have been released globally yet, or is a befall and co. situation. like I do see the PV for it exists but I'm not seeing evidence that it was released officially as a single if that makes sense. i'll probably still just rip directly from that PV for now although it looks like there's also an instrumental version that I might have to skip bc i can't find it
don't know if this single will release globally later, it was released before belonging on the chinese server but i see belonging has been out for a little over a week now. guess we'll just have to wait and see. sorry for the rambling regardless of all that shit I will be uploading it 🤣
edit 2: thanks all for the heads-up it might be released on the anniversary (29th)! in which case I might just wait a bit (probably upload belonging first) and see if this single gets released then

Do you think we're likely to be getting other collabs to the global sever ever? Besides any new ones. A lot of older ones that haven't shown up, but the newest Sanrio2 one did?
honestly i dont expect the old ones at all at this point, unless they do another collab with the same partner and decide to bring the old ones to global too? both sanrio collabs happened when global already existed so they could negotiate for it at the same time as the chinese servers but the rest that we haven't gotten yet predate global. i think if it was gonna happen it wouldve happened already tbh
oh i do think we could get the mr love one tho since its a collab with another paper game, its just not a priority since its free lol

Global Brands Snak Time Stack Pack Salted Crackers $1.2512 oz @ Dollar Tree
When I first saw these at my local Dollar Tree in El Sereno, I knew just by the look at the box that these have to be the knock-offs of the Ritz Crackers. Now, let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of the Ritz Crackers. While my family did used to buy them often, I was never really that into it quite like my family was into it. For one, I never really saw why they liked it so much.…

Enduring Legacy: Commemoration of Ancient Chinese Mathematical Master Liu Hui Marks His Timeless Influence on Mathematics and Civilization Exchanges
— By Huang Lanlan | September 25, 2024
Tumblr media
A view of the exhibition Liu Hui, a leading founder of classical Chinese mathematical theories at Réfectoire des Cordeliers in Paris
A year-long global commemoration of Liu Hui, a prominent figure in ancient Chinese mathematics, kicked off in Paris on Tuesday local time.
Co-hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), the commemoration celebrates Liu, whose works and theories not only have a profound impact on ancient Chinese mathematics, but also continue to provide a source of inspiration for scientific and technological progress and civilization exchanges in today's world.
In November 2023, UNESCO held the 42nd session of the General Conference and approved the proposal made by the CAST to celebrate the anniversary of Liu's birth. It was the first time China had successfully applied for a birthday anniversary event for a scientist at UNESCO, said the CAST.
"We hope that through such events, we can showcase to a global audience the remarkable scientific achievements, exceptional ideas, and significant contributions to human civilization made by ancient Chinese scholars like Liu Hui," said He Junke, executive president of the CAST, in a speech he delivered at the launch ceremony of the commemoration on Tuesday local time, at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.
An Ancient Chinese Mathematical Master
Tumblr media
Some visitors explore the exhibition Liu Hui, a leading founder of classical Chinese mathematical theories at Réfectoire des Cordeliers in Paris on September 24, 2024.
Liu, who lived in the 3rd century, was one of the founders of classical Chinese mathematical theory.
Liu had a profound influence on ancient Chinese mathematics and a direct influence on mathematics in the whole East Asia region, and he also indirectly influenced other regions in the world, said Zou Dahai, a research fellow at the Institute for History of Natural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Liu's commentary in China's mathematical classic Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art inspired numerous mathematicians and mathematical works in later generations.

"Emerging during the mid-1st century BC and having been passed down to present day, Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art contains numerous universal algorithms and corresponding mathematical problems," Zou, who attended the Tuesday commemoration events online as an expert representative, told the Global Times. "The book has extremely rich content, featuring many significant academic achievements. But it doesn't provide explanations of how the algorithms and formulas were derived."
Liu's commentary was then an essential complement to the book, giving a comprehensive demonstration of mathematical methods in it. "Also, he made original and significant achievements in various areas, such as the theory of lü (ratio), the method of infinite division, volume theory, indirect surveying, the ratio of circumference to diameter, and decimals," Zou said.
Mathematics plays a crucial role in the modern scientific framework, He said at the launch ceremony on Tuesday. In ancient China, mathematics was one of the most advanced disciplines, deeply embedded in everyday life, he said.
"The mathematical system outlined in 'The Nine Chapters' serves as a bridge connecting abstract mathematical theories with practical applications," noted He. "From land measurement to urban planning, from building houses to constructing levees, it not only introduces precise calculation methods but also provides rigorous mathematical proof."

A Light of Wisdom Spanning Two Millennia
Weeks ago, the International Astronomical Union Minor Planet Naming Committee officially named an asteroid discovered in China the "Liu Hui Star," paying tribute to this precious cultural heritage of all humanity, He mentioned at the launch ceremony of the commemoration.
Many Chinese and international scholars invited to the commemoration told the Global Times that Liu's thoughts and his contributions to mathematics not only have great historical value, but also a profound enlightenment in contemporary mathematical learning, scientific research, and youth science education.
"The achievements, thoughts, and methods of ancient Chinese mathematics have long been integrated into the mathematics that we study today, and Liu's contributions are also part of this integration, having both tangible and intangible effects on the development of Chinese mathematics," Zou said. He explained that many kinds of knowledge of proportions that (modern Chinese people) learn, including the idea of viewing fractions as the ratio of two numbers, were actually influenced by Liu.
"Apart from Liu's specific mathematical achievements, his scholarly attitude and scientific spirit are worth our study and promotion," added Zou.
Jeff Chen, a professor of mathematics at US St. Cloud State University who attended the commemoration in Paris on Tuesday, emphasized how Liu's work can inspire and benefit the science education of today's youth.
"Liu's works clearly demonstrated that he had a curious and logical mind," Chen told the Global Times via email. "Although the mathematical knowledge in the Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art may be considered elementary or even rudimentary, Liu's thinking and modes of reasoning are definitely not. They help us to make sense of the knowledge and lead us to utilize the tools at our disposal, applying them in ways beyond the conventions."
"In short, Liu's works really train students to think for themselves - the ultimate goal of education," Chen noted.

A Bridge Connecting Eastern and Western Civilizations
Following the launch ceremony, an international symposium on Liu's academic thought was also held at the headquarters of UNESCO on Tuesday afternoon, where global experts in the history of science and technology, and the history of mathematics, made multi-dimensional interpretations and held discussions on Liu's academic contributions and scientific heritage, as well as their modern value.
Furthermore, they delved into the global dissemination of Liu's mathematical ideas, and proposed suggestions to further promote China's classical mathematical heritage.
Earlier, as another highlight of this series of commemorative events, a themed exhibition featuring Liu's achievements in mathematics kicked off at the Réfectoire des Cordeliers in Paris on Monday, so as to showcase Liu's mathematical achievement, and to deepen the civilization exchanges and mutual understanding between China and the world, read the exhibition's foreword.
Zhou Xiaohan, an associate research fellow at the Institute for History of Natural Sciences, CAS, believes that the exhibition is an opportunity to show Liu's important contributions, as well as the efforts made by Chinese and foreign scholars to study ancient scientific thought in China and their in-depth cooperation over the last century.

"Liu's achievements are not only a treasure to China, but also a great legacy of human thought for the world," he told the Global Times.
"I wish there were exhibitions and presentations [in commemoration of Liu] in more major cities around the world," said Chen. "With the backing of UNESCO, such occasions will encourage more international interest in his works and attract students into the field of the history of mathematics in China. It will promote dialogue, discussions, and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world."
One of the themes of our time is exchange and mutual learning among different civilizations, Zou said in a speech he delivered at the launch ceremony. "Indeed, our commemoration of Liu Hui today, as well as the academic achievements supporting these activities are exactly the product of civilizational exchanges and mutual learning," he said.
The commemoration event in honor of Liu further conveys China's outstanding scientific achievements and scientific culture to the international community, which showcases both the characteristics and the universality of Chinese mathematics, Zou told the Global Times on Monday, ahead of the ceremony.
"This is a model case showing the diversity and accommodation of Eastern and Western cultures," Zou said.

"China’s carbon emissions have flatlined over the past six months and there’s now an opportunity for substantial declines over the next decade, analysts say.
The rapid growth in clean energy generation has been sufficient to offset a recent surge in power demand caused by higher air conditioning use amid late-summer heatwaves, and the government’s manufacturing push, according to an analysis by Lauri Myllyvirta of the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA).
China’s carbon emissions fell by 1% in the second quarter of 2024 and were flat in the third quarter, providing another indication that emissions may have already peaked.
This is largely because solar power output was up 44% in the three months to end-September, compared to a year before, while wind power generation grew 24%. In the first nine months of 2024, China installed 161GW of new solar capacity and 39GW of wind, per CREA data.
For emissions to post a decline in 2024 as a whole, there will need to be a 2% reduction in the fourth quarter, Myllyvirta’s calculations show. That’s probable if power demand growth cools as expected and hydro plants perform in line with historical averages, he wrote in a post on X, adding that over the entire summer period, clean energy expansion covered all electricity demand growth.
“If the current downturn in China’s emissions is sustained — with emissions falling in the second quarter and stable in the third quarter — that would open the door to the country beginning to reduce emissions much faster than its current commitments require.
“This would have enormous significance for the global effort to avoid catastrophic climate change, as China’s emissions growth has been the dominant factor pushing global emissions up for the past eight years since the signing of the Paris climate agreement.”
Based on current trends and targets, CREA expects China’s emissions will decline 30% by 2035. The International Energy Agency says emissions will fall 24% by then based only on stated policies, but that could be raised to 45% if the country follows a pathway that’s consistent with its long-term carbon neutrality target.
For the time being, Chinese policymakers are setting relatively unambitious targets, and “it’s vital that future targets reflect ongoing clean energy trends to avoid locking in lower ambitions,” Myllyvirta said."

Now seems like as good a time as any to tap the sign, since I've received a few asks lately that assume I'm a qualified hoyo spokesperson. I am not, I'm just some guy!
This also means that I have no control over character design decisions – in fact, I have as many complaints as you do. If you want to express your opinions in a way that's more likely to reach the company, I recommend using the current in-game survey and this petition that's been circulating in both the Chinese and global communities.

As China’s 'encirclement' of Taiwan continues, US warship sails through South China Sea

As China’s 'encirclement' of Taiwan continues, US warship sails through South China Sea
Tumblr media
Istanbul (The Times Groupe) – Beijing conducted joint flights of jets and naval frigates on Monday after a US warship sailed through the disputed South China Sea.
People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said it “organized naval and air forces to track and monitor” the US Navy destroyer USS Milius that “illegally trespassed into waters near China’s Meiji Reef in Nansha Islands in the South China Sea on Monday.”
Earlier on Monday, the 7th Fleet of the US military in Asia-Pacific deployed its Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) in the South China Sea.
On April 10, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) asserted navigational rights and freedoms in the South China Sea near the Spratly Islands, consistent with international law.

The fleet said it “asserted navigational rights and freedoms in the South China Sea near the Spratly Islands, consistent with international law.”
“ After completing the operation, USS Milius exited the excessive claim area and continued operations in the South China Sea.
Within 12 nautical miles of Mischief Reef, the United States conducted normal operations. Mischief Reef, which is submerged at high tide in its naturally formed state, is not entitled to a territorial sea under customary international law, according to the statement.
During the US warship’s voyage, China continued its three-day “military sword” exercises around Taiwan.
According to the Chinese daily Global Times, the PLA Navy Shandong aircraft carrier group was in waters east of Taiwan island where Chinese sorties, including those of J-15 carrier-borne fighter jets equipped with live missiles, took off and landed.
Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said its air defense units “remain on high alert for contingencies, steadfastly maintaining their posts 24/7, showing that we can and we will defend our skies.”
Taiwan detected 70 PLA aircraft and 11 PLA naval vessels around the island nation earlier today, 35 of which crossed the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s southwest and southeast air defense identification zones (ADIZ).
“And we will never give up our beliefs,” Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said on Twitter.
Neither the median line nor the ADIZ are recognized in Beijing.
In response to Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen’s 10-day trip to Central America last week, US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy hosted Tsai Ing-wen for a meeting in California.

Like, this may come as a shock to people like Tumblr liberals who are totally stuck in the Western anglophone neoliberal ideology echo-chamber but like, outside of the west, out there where the majority of the worlds people live, Kwame Nkrumah's thought is taken more seriously than Milton Friedman's. So why will left liberals engage with Friedman's thought, even if only to debunk it, but not engage at all with Nkrumah's writings on neocolonialism, and just write it off?
There's a common charge leveled by supposedly "open-minded" liberals toward anti-imperialists, that we just 'blindly' support any force that's contravailing US the US on a regional or global scale, but how am I supposed to take this seriously as anything but projection?
We anti-imperialists often make specific, verifiable claims about happenings in global geopol, such as that the so-called "Free Syrian Army" consisted mostly of salafi jihadists allowed into Syria through their northern border with Turkey, and that it doesn't make sense that a civil war could simply Materialize in a country like Syria which right before the war started had one of the lowest ratios of guns to people in the world, or that the Maidan coup regime that swept into power in Kiev in 2014 was heavily infiltrated with fascists, and would not have been able to consolidate power without the instrumentalisation of fascist gangs and paramilitary organizations.
The liberal response to these specific claims, then, is to point to reports from corporate media with every incentive to lie, themselves doing no independent investigation but instead parroting verbatim the word of the State Department as fact, and dismissing all independent media investigations out of hand with no further thought.
In a situation such as this, can that response really be considered "open-minded"? It seems that time and time again intellectual rigor is reserved for discussions of technocratic tinkering within the west's iron curtain, and not the lives of people outside of it.
There's plenty of brain-juice to be expended on justifying why the US economy is actually in good shape and the people saying they're struggling more than before are just stupid, but when it comes to considering why African heads of state choose the China Development Bank over the IMF as an economic partner or Russia over the NATO states as security partners, these leaders of millions are dismissively written off as histrionically anti-Western, paranoid, and too mentally weak to see through Russian and Chinese propaganda. Is it this really a 'rational' way to look at the world?
Personally, I think not.

Chinese Report On US Foreign Aid An Eye Opener
— Professor Anthony Moretti | April 21, 2024
Tumblr media
Illustration: Xia Qing/Global Times
The Chinese Foreign Ministry recently issued a report that everyone should read. Titled "The Hypocrisy and Facts of the United States Foreign Aid," the document states that US aid to other countries "ignores the practical interests and long-term development of recipient developing countries." Being selfish, arrogant, hypocritical and ugly, and wantonly interfering in other countries' internal affairs for its own benefits, US foreign aid brings about seriously negative impacts on world peace and development, it continues.
Those few words alone should draw anyone's attention, although it is doubtful that the report will be acknowledged by US political leaders or discussed by the mainstream media.
One of the report's primary themes is that US aid is designed to benefit the US, not the recipient country. The report argues the US deserves sharp criticism because its policies do not recognize "the vital interests and actual needs of developing countries." Its policies do, however, ignore "the cultural traditions and realistic conditions of other countries."
Sri Lanka is one example. The US suggested years ago it was prepared to offer Sri Lanka aid that would have, among other things, "reduced traffic congestion and air pollution in [the capital city of] Colombo and improved public transportation for millions of Sri Lankans who travel by bus." The view from Sri Lanka was different. There, concerns about national sovereignty and national security led the government to reject the support. The Colombo Telegraph outlined why Sri Lanka ought never to have been considered for the program while arguing that US military interests overrode the program's stated requirements. In effect, the Americans wanted to run roughshod over the country in order to strengthen US military presence in South Asia.
The US has a well-documented history of using nations around the world to enhance its military position. According to one estimate, the US has 750 installations in over 80 countries, with Japan and Germany being the top two locations. Residents of the Japanese city of Okinawa, where the US has had military bases since the end of World War II, overwhelmingly agree that the continued presence is "unfair" primarily because the military bases in the prefecture would be targets of an attack in an emergency.
The abandonment of humanitarian efforts is another theme. The report analyzes how, in 2018, the White House stopped supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). President Donald Trump said at the time, "We're not paying until you make a deal." Perhaps he was referring to the Palestinians' acquiescing to his ideas about Israel, Palestine and a two-state solution. However, as the Brookings Institution sagely noted, the decision made clear to the Palestinian refugees that he "callously disregards their most basic needs."
Fast forward to 2024, and Washington has once again cut off dollars for Palestinians. Washington, along with several allies, paused funding to the UNRWA again in January of this year.
How can the US start and then stop the distribution of a measly portion of the overall US budget benefitting Palestinians and still continue to speak often and loudly about its commitment to human rights and how it supports the most vulnerable of people in the world? Perhaps more importantly, how does this policy promote sound foreign aid aims?
A final theme worth noting is the US' linkage of foreign aid to private investment. The report reviews multiple instances during and after the Cold War in which the US required "recipient countries to use aid mainly for the development of private enterprises and not for public investment."
The debacle that now defines US-Russia relations can be partially explained by the "shock therapy" that the US and Russian leaders applied to the Russian economy in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Instead of opting to slowly roll out economic policies, major reforms, which Russia was not prepared for, were enacted. History tells us the rest of the story: The rich became obscenely rich; the poor became desperate. The report summarizes US history of attaching aid to private investment this way, with tens of millions of people falling into poverty, a widening gap between rich and poor, and economy collapsing.
If they were to read the full document, US political leaders ought to evaluate how - and why - it distributes aid around the world. If that were to happen, would examples of hypocrisy be noted and assurances given that they will not be repeated?
Sadly, the answer is almost certainly no. The US can act better, and it should be.
— The Author is an Associate Professor at the Department of Communication and Organizational Leadership at Robert Morris University.
