The funny thing about the PJO cabin system is that everyone's always all 'oh the twelve' this and 'the twelve' that but that's absolutely not even remotely accurate. To start, right off the bat it's thirteen, not twelve, because they don't count Hades. But not really because before Percy, there were no big three kids, so we're down to ten active cabins already but it's actually eight because Artemis and Hera don't make demigods.
And of those eight, Mr. D is stuck at camp (thus not really making new demigods all that often) and his only two kids don't even sleep in a cabin, they sleep in the Big House with him.
So, pre-Percy, there are seven active cabins at Camp Half-Blood:
Glee club, the Jocks, the Nerds, the Geeks, the Farmers, the 'Sketchy Kids' and the Popular Kids.
Or, in other words, the Apollo, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, Demeter, Hermes (and the unclaimed kids) and Aphrodite cabins.
What's cool is that you can already see the cabin dynamics in the show. For example, the Athena cabin allies with the Hermes cabin for the numbers. The Hermes kids plus all the unclaimed kids? It's the biggest cabin in the camp by far. It's a battle strategy. Luke and Annabeth's close relationship is just the cherry on top for Annabeth. It'll be really cool to see how the show develops the differences in the cabins during the series.

i just have beef with tales of the hidden city cause it's like ... would you rather have Second Hand Embarrassment The Episode, the episode that's about fucking Racial Profiling towards an already heavily adultified black-coded character, nuclear family propaganda that comes down to "well he made us so we should be GRATEFUL to him" (seriously what the hell even was that), or leo vibing for 11 minutes 😭😭😭😭

that was such a good episode. i missed this low-stakes fun and shenanigans. beau and yasha coming into this with a degree of emotional separation and then getting hit with the raw honesty and weirdness of teenagers. veth trying to micromanage her life and barely making it through (again. character of all time, thank you sam). luc being earnest and supportive and a whole ass teenager, unrequited crush included.
and the campers were so good. i will defend these children with my life if i have to.

just screamed and fell to the floor when my brain decided to remind me that jango forced the clones into a position where they were young father’s.
how is a child supposed to cradle another child? how do you care for an infant when you yourself are a child?
how do you help them when you cant help yourself??

Very important announcement, Please listen up.
There's a new bill that's trying to get passed and it's called House Bill 743, what does it do? It “enhances” House Bill 3. It basically takes away your privacy by disabling end-to-end encryption. Your parents, guardians, and the government can look at your messages whenever they want. So in other words, they're making it extremely difficult for minors in abusive situations to escape or come out of the closet. It's every controlling parent's dream.
Here's the article I got this information from btw:
What Can You Do?
Flood your representatives' phones. Tell them you don't want this bill, this shit is dangerous for minors' privacy. HB3 is dangerous enough. Blow their shit UP
Here's the names and numbers of our representatives: (the list is LONG)

Finished Dorothy Canfield Fisher's The Home-maker. I can't believe this book is from the 1920s. I'm used to feminist books from this period, from earlier periods, and even today, pushing "women should be allowed to work outside the home", but this might be the first time I've seen it accompanied by "men should be able to work inside the home".
And arguing that work inside the home is the higher calling! Saying that caring for children requires patience, intelligence, compassion, understanding, love. That home-making can allow time to feed the human soul. That people look down on it because it tears down the system of greed and materialism that keeps the business world running. But also saying that not every woman has the personality to be a good stay-at-home parent, just as every man may not have the right personality to be a success in the corporate world. It's a clear-eyed take on the issue that we still haven't gotten right. How is this book a hundred years old?

Don't get too attached
#Brakul did a lot of the parenting for Erubi (the first of the Janeys-Brakul-Hibrides throuple bastard children) in infancy especially due#to Hibrides going through absolutely horrific post-partum depression (and not wanting to be a parent to begin with. Like she#had accepted it as an inevitability and a duty but when it actually happened it was just like Oh God. I am in hell)#Brakul is the only one of the three that actually Wants to be a parent and the fact that he can't behave as such in order to avoid#suspicion that he's the father is kind of a living nightmare for him a little.#Not like he isn't involved in his ''''nieces''' lives given he lives in the same household but he has to keep a bit of distance.#Janeys and especially Hibrides are pretty unsympathetic about this. For Hibrides it's like she has had to go through so much shit#to maintain this situation she never asked to be a part of and when he has to go through a fraction of that he breaks the fuck down.#He only wants the benefits of the whole situation and isn't willing to deal with the consequences.#This is also one of the very few things she's sympathetic with Janeys about like she respects that he's at least willing to play#his part and be miserable without bitching to her about it. Like she fucking hates him but respects the commitment to the bit.#Janeys is more just like 'Just go make more kids if you want your own so damn bad. Get a wife or something. That's what I#had to do and look at me I'm doing great I'm so normal'#The two kids aren't present on the pilgrimage (back home under the care of a hired tutor) but the Janeys-Brakul-Hibrides#Feeling Triangle are in a fucking tailspin over her being pregnant again like goddddd not this shit again#brakul red dog
