Surya Talon Abraxas
Lord Surya is the chief of the Navagraha, the nine Indian Classical planets and important elements of Hindu astrology. He is often depicted riding a chariot harnessed by seven horses which might represent the seven colors of the rainbow or the seven chakras in the human body. He is also the presiding deity of Sunday. Surya is regarded as the Supreme Deity by Saura sect and Smartas worship him as one of the five primary forms of God.
Surya or the sun, often identified with Aditya, Savitr and Pusan, is another important Vedic deity. He is compared to a bird that flies in the sky and is described as the jewel of the sky. He gives light, produces day and night, gives power and strength to the living beings, makes them active and destroys their laziness and disease.
Surya had three wives, namely, Sharanya (also called Saraniya, Saranyu, Sanjana or Sangya), Ragyi and Prabha. Saranyu was the mother of Vaivasvata Manu (the seventh, i.e., present Manu) and the twins Yama (the Lord of Death) and his sister Yami. She also bore him the twins known as the Ashvins, divine horsemen and physicians to the Devas. Saranyu, being unable to bear the extreme radiance of Surya, created a superficial entity from her shadow called Chhaya and instructed her to act as Surya’s wife in her absence. Chhaya mothered two sons Savarni Manu (the eighth, i.e., next Manu) and Shani (the planet Saturn), and two daughters, Tapti and Vishti. He has two more sons, Revanta or Raivata with Ragyi, and Prabhata with Prabha. Surya is the father of the famous tragic hero Karna, described in the Indian epic Mahabharata, by a human princess named Kunti.
Surya’s sons, Shani and Yama, are responsible for the judgment of human life. Shani provides the results of one’s deeds during one’s life through appropriate punishments and rewards while Yama grants the results of one’s deeds after death.
Karna from the Mahabharata is also believed to be a son of Lord Surya.
Different Names Of Lord Surya
Lord Surya is hailed by 108 names – Surya Ashtottara Shatnamavali. The commonest among them are Aditya, Adideva, Angaraka, Arka, Bhaga, Brahma, Dhanwantari, Dharmadhwaja, Dhatri, Dhumaketu, Indra, Jaya, Maitreya, Prabhakara, Ravi, Rudra, Savitri, Soma, Teja, Vaisravana, Vanhi, Varun and Vishnu.
Lord Surya in Hindu Scriptures
In the Ramayana, Surya is described as father of the King Sugriva, who helped Rama and Lakshmana in defeating the demon king Ravana. He also trains Hanuman. The Suryavanshi dynasty of kings, Rama being one of them, also claims descent from Surya.
In the Mahabharata, Princess Kunti receives instruction for a mantra from the sage Durvasa; by reciting which, she would be able to summon any god and bear a child by him. Incredulous of the power of this mantra, Kunti unwittingly tests it on Surya, but when Surya appears, she gets scared and requests him to go back. However, Surya has an obligation to fulfill the mantra before returning. Surya miraculously causes Kunti to bear the child immediately whilst retaining her virginity so that she, as an unmarried princess, need not face any embarrassment or be subjected to questions from society. Kunti feels compelled to abandon the child, Karna, who grows up to become one of the central characters in the great battle of Kurukshetra.
In astrology
In Vedic astrology Surya is considered a mild malefic on account of his hot, dry nature. Surya represents soul, will-power, fame, the eyes, general vitality, courage, kingship, father, highly placed persons and authority. He is exalted in the sign Mesha, is in mulatrikona in the sign Simha and is in debilitation in the sign Tula. Surya is lord of three nakshatras or lunar mansions: Krittika, Uttara Phalguni and Uttara Ashadha. Surya has the following associations: the colors – copper or red, the metals – gold or brass, the gemstone – ruby, the direction – east and the season of summer. The food grain associated with him is wheat.
Surya Mantra
Surya mantra in Vedic astrology is the ultimate mantra to please Surya Deva. It helps people get rid of all kinds of diseases and gain mental and physical strength along with happiness and well-being. Chanting Surya Mantra daily shall also help the people attain prosperity and abundance. Not only does it develop a sense of assurance in the people, but also, helps overcome self-doubts and other mental distress.
The Surya mantra is:
।। नमः सूर्याय शान्ताय सर्वरोग निवारिणे आयुररोग्य मैस्वैर्यं देहि देवः जगत्पते ।।
Namah Suryaya Shantaya Sarvaroga Nivaarine, Ayurarogya Maisvairyam Dehi Devah Jagatpate
Meaning- Surya Deva, ruler of the Universe, you are the remover of all diseases, the repository of peace. I bow to you, and please bless your devotees with long life, health, and wealth.

EmpowHER Junior 2023
By Namrata Khand
With the chirping of the birds my eyes opened, when I saw the watch it was 6 ‘o clock in the morning. I slowly got up and woke my friend as well. After our daily morning routine, we did the homework that was assigned to us the day prior. Today was the fourth Saturday of the month and it was a special day for me and my friends because it was the day for our fundraising event and an immersion visit. I was thrilled. Oh! As I was dwelling on various things it was already 8:30 a.m. so my friend and I ate some food and got ready. We reached the school premise and my group members also arrived. One of my group members had yet to arrive because she was responsible to cook and bring samosas. Then our group got divided into 3 subgroups. The first group went with Prachi ji, the second with Sadhana ji and the third group which I was a part of went with Aagya ji. Our group was meant to go to the Municipality office to meet Isha ji and ask a few questions we had. This is why we took our own notebook that contained our questions.
We reached the Municipality office to interact with the Deputy Mayor, Isha Rana and I got a little scared but discussion went smoothly. Our questions were related to her political journey and policies of the municipality. As we asked these questions, Isha ji easily answered them. After our conversation with Isha ji, we returned to the class and Aagya ji announced the buddies for the day were Ritu ji, Chhaya ji, and me and told us our roles and works. After that, we learned to make business cards as we didn’t know how to make them. Aagya ji, Sadhana ji and Prachi ji helped us make it. Since we did not have much time left, we quickly made it and went to eat our lunch. During lunch, we discussed the questions we asked in our respective immersion visit with our friends.
Then quickly went to the location for our fundraising. We were divided into 5 groups. Some of us brought Pakoda, Panipuri, Mohito, Chatpate and Samosa. Each group had 5 members where two members were the sellers, two were responsible to bring any ingredient that would fall short(runner) and one leader. All of the groups sold well, and our Samosas were also sold out! After everyone was done with their business we returned to the school. Then, Chhaya ji, Ritu ji and I went to the classroom and wrote all the things we learned that day on a chart paper. We gave the funds we collected to ma’am and presented the day’s learning with our friends. Then, ma’am asked us who the changemakers for the day were and they were: Apsara, Subina, Gunjan and Smriti. We did the highs and lows and returned home. I was very tired but I’m sure everyone else was also tired because fundraising turns out to be difficult but I learned a lot as well. Then I reached home at 5:45 p.m. and rested till 6 and prepared for the Pitching tomorrow. Finally, I went to the living room and watched T.V. till 11 p.m. and went to sleep.

SATURN - SHANI - GOD OF KARMA, JUSTICE AND RETRIBUTION
Saturdays always has me in the mood to be more serious about my devotions, my occult studies, after coming off an intense session and just contemplating about SHANI and SATURN, in Hindu and Astrological sense, I have some thoughts indeed.
SHANI
The personification and representation of the planet Saturn is ultimately considered to be one of the most feared God & Planet as Shani’s influence reaches to bounds that will restrict ANY planetary favours if he so wishes to create obstacles. The older brother of Yama, the God of Death, Dharma & the Underworld, it’s easy to see why Saturn can come with the association of fear. Shani is considered to be the son of Surya (Sun) and Chhaya (Shadow), the story of his birth itself marks the righteous nature of Saturn as he was the one who cursed his father to eclipse after Surya looked at him for the first time and was confused by the dark skin of the child, Chhaya’s unwillingness to move away from Surya’s heat during the pregnancy had burned Shani’s skin in the womb, and questioned whether he was his legitimate son.
ENEMIES - SATURN & SUN
In astrology, Saturn and Sun aren’t considered to be “friendly” or good for each other, despite both having malefic attributes to some extent. Sun is the soul, it seeks to only shine brightly and strive for the fruit of its purpose, while Saturn brings out the restrictions of Karma and the scales of Justice, something that even Sun has to face. Perhaps it can be related to the story of Shani’s birth, the immediate callous questioning of his title from his father because of just his skin colour made him cursed the Sun to face its own eclipses, to see how it is like to be in the same position as Shani was forced to be. This perhaps signifies a great deal of Saturn’s influence in vedic chart, as the God that also embodies spiritual asceticism and penance, Saturn’s ultimate goal is to TEACH, through karma that is returned divinely but orchestrated through mortal hands, and to come out as a person better, more spiritual, more intelligent and hardworking. Perhaps, this explains the traditional rulership of Aquarius and Capricorn, in Capricorn, Saturn acts like the eternal hardworker, forced to vicariously live out karma and pay it all back, in term teaching the ultimate lesson of discipline and fruits of labour - In Aquarius, the rebel, Saturn’s scale of justice turns towards the worlds and its offenders, even its own parents (Sun - the significator of the Father, is debilitated in Aquarius), and the self-concerned nature of reckless soul now turned against its makers, in equal vigour, as long as they remain unjust and unfair, they are never too far from Saturn’s cursed gaze full of righteous enforcement of justice. Exalted in Libra, Saturn shows that its lesson is a matter of give and take - tip the scales with good towards one’s self and others, then the weight of the bad lessens, tip the scales with selfishness and reckless harm, then the weight of the good lessens. Karma and Dharma are ultimately linked, only through the penance of Karma and the practice of Dharma, can one truly be free of the ties of this material realm. Shani says that your soul is ultimately going to stay bound in the material world of Maya, if you refuse to acknowledge that your soul purpose isn’t more important or a reason to disregard other’s, that ultimately you are born in this cycle with countless others who have the same hint of existence as you.
SYMBOLISM - CROWS
Shani is depicted riding a crow, thus crows itself eventually grew to be a prominent symbolism in Hindu association of Saturn. Crows are regarded as the messenger of death, their intensive and excessive cries around an area is often said to foretell the coming of Yama Dev, often more as warnings and omens. The behaviour and acknowledgement of the ways crows interact has gained attention in media as well, they are seen to be highly intelligent - flying in groups and conveying information in groups, remembering those that harmed them (Shani is also considered to be the God that never forgets deeds) or helped them, their relentless protection of the ones that have the privilege to be in their good graces. All of these can be attributed to the nature of Saturn as well, donned in black and often misrepresented as bad omens or misfortune, crows themselves know the concept of give and take - a murder of crows vengefully and gratefully remembering the deeds of rights and wrongs done to them is a small physical representation of the influence from the greater above.
IN THE HONOUR OF SHANI
As the champion of the people, Shani merely asks for good deeds with no strings attached, to help the poor and the underprivileged, to keep weighing the scales with good deeds so that the person can step into the path of spiritual ascension without the deeply debilitating ties of bad karma. Saturdays are named in the honour of Saturn (Shanibar), along with the colour black, sesame seeds & oil, a general rule of do no harm. You might not remember it but He will.

❝ A Woman is made by her beliefs, As she believes, so she is. ❞
ALL ABOUT CHHAYA
NAME: Chhaya Bhatt GENDER/PRONOUNS: Cis woman, she/her DATE OF BIRTH: December 1st, 1991 BIRTH PLACE: Mumbai, India CURRENT RESIDENCE: Downtown OCCUPATION: Escort and Cyber security expert FACE CLAIM: Sonam Kapoor
BIOGRAPHY
tw Abusive and manipulative family, Sex work, violence
Chhaya Hemani Bhatt was born the third daughter, and fifth child of seven, in Mumbai India. She was raised in an incredibly wealthy family, where image, empire, and legacy were everything. Growing up she was want for nothing, so long as it did not shame the family. Her mother and father made it clear to all the children that their studies and success were of paramount importance.
All the Bhatt children went to boarding schools and spent their holidays traveling around India, soaking up as much of their cultural history as possible. Chhaya was never particularly close with her sisters who were 8 and 11 years older respectively. While her sisters took school very seriously Chhaya was easily distracted and more interested in the creative aspects of her education. She always volunteered to be in school productions, and dances.
The daughters were expected to do more than just marry well and were held to an even higher standard than the boys which put an immense amount of pressure to succeed upon them. If Chhaya’s brothers messed up they would get scolded, but when Chhaya brought home an average grade at the end of a term all pleasure privileges were revoked and private tutors were hired to get her on track. Despite the fact that the children went to boarding school Chhaya’s parents always had a harsh eye on the children’s movements.
While her other siblings seemed to take well enough to this lifestyle Chhaya struggled. She wanted to dance, not study. She loved Bollywood, learning the dances and the music, but her parents thought it was perverse and inappropriate for a young woman of her social standing.
The Bhatt family were devout Hindu practitioners, and Chhaya was able to find immense joy in traditional Bharatnatyam dance. She danced at temple, religious ceremonies, and weddings. She truly loved to participate in this traditional dance. Painting her feet red with Atla dye and putting on her ankle bells never failed to brighten her day. But she often found herself getting into trouble when she would mix more modern dance moves into her practices. When her parents inevitably caught her doing this there was always harsh punishment. But she was always able to talk her way into going to temple where she could pray and dance.
When it came time to go to college Chhaya was able to find freedom by emigrating to the United States and going to MIT. At MIT she studied computer science, with a focus on Cyber Security and white hat hacking. She didn’t have a passion for Computer Science, but was good at it and her parents were insistent that she get this high level of education.
During her time at university, Chhaya fell in love with American culture, especially the high social side. Dancing in clubs, going out, and laughing as loud as she wanted, drinking and eating what she wanted. Not worrying about what others thought of her she loved every minute of her freedom. A friend at University introduced her to the sugar baby life and it was like a whole new avenue of life opened up before her. She quickly got the hang of things and found that she went to it like a duck into water. She could afford to be as picky and demanding as she wanted, and soon found herself a pretty jewel on the arm of many desperately wealthy men, and women, who had more money than they knew what to do with. In order to protect her privacy, and distance herself from her family Chhaya used the nickname Rani. In this way she was able to live a double life of sorts. Chhaya was the proper and dutiful daughter, but Rani got to spend the night out on the town, owning her sexuality and living for herself. And herself only.
After she graduated with her master’s degree Chhaya was offered an opportunity with a tech firm in Crystal City. She kept some of her old clients who were rich enough to fly her out to wherever they were, or fly to her when they wanted. But as she began to settle in and find new clients she found herself treading in very deep water, with no floatation device.
One fateful night she met with a new client at LUX nightclub. She liked the club, enjoyed the vibe, and felt it would be a good place to vet a new client in a discrete and yet still public place. This turned out to be for the best, because when Tanner Todd, her potential client, got too deep in his cups, and he turned mean. Rani had none of it. She tried to leave politely, without causing a scene. But like the drunken trash he was Tanner took a swing at her which was more than Rani could politely wave off. Throwing her drink in his face she grabbed two fingers on his right hand and bent them back ‘til she felt his tendons pop and he fell to his knees with a pathetic squeal of pain. The commotion did not go unnoticed and Mr. Todd was quickly, and roughly removed from the premises.
Embarrassed, and a little shaken, she slid back into the private booth she had reserved and attempted to hide as she calmed her nerves. And that is when the enigmatic Elias came into her life. After a bit of explaining on Chhaya’s part they came to an understanding. And thus a beautiful partnership was born. Chhaya was free to conduct her business as Rani, with the security of knowing that she had the protection of the Morgan family. And in return, she pays her dues into the family funds pot. Plus, it’s always handy to have someone on hand who can seduce a pesky politician or over-eager policymaker looking to clean up the mean streets of Crystal City.
Chhaya has been living in beautiful Crystal city for nearly three years now and is living her best life. She is fun, bubbly, and loves to make new friends. Chhaya is incredibly sex-positive and believes that everyone should own their sexuality and find comfort within themselves. She may be kind and charismatic but she is not afraid to utilize pain compliance to bring anyone to the floor if they think that consent is not imperative, or think bringing pain into a dynamic without pre-negotiation is acceptable. Chhaya’s profession and lifestyle has meant that relationships have not been a focus, but who knows, she just might fall in love.

Emergency Situations:
Caesarean deliveries may be performed in emergency situations, such as foetal distress, umbilical cord complications, or sudden changes in the mother's health, where a rapid delivery is critical to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.
Placenta Previa or Placental Abruption:
Conditions such as placenta previa (when the placenta covers the cervix) or placental abruption (when the placenta detaches from the uterus) may require a caesarean delivery to prevent complications and ensure a safe birth.
Breech Presentation:
If the baby is in a breech position (feet or buttocks first), a caesarean delivery is often recommended to reduce the risk of birth complications associated with a breech birth.

Yamunotri temple is located at Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state which is also called a Dev Bhoomi. Yamunotri Dham Temple is origination of the Holy river Yamuna, major pilgrim of hindu religion and one of the most imporatant stoppage of Uttarkhand Char Dham (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, & Yamunotri) and it is placed at 3235 meters above from sea level.
Yamunotri temple has an its own specialty in hindu shrine. Suryatanya literally means the daughter of Surya Devta means the Yamuna. In the Puranas, Yamuna is called the daughter of Suyra Devta. Yamuna, Yama, Shani Dev, and Vaivasvata Manu has born from the two wives of Surya Devta is called Chhaya and Sangya. Thus the Yamuna is the sister of Yamaraja and Shani Dev. There is a special significance on the Bhaiyaduj or Bhai Dooj to dive into the Yamuna River at Mathura. The Yamuna first came to the Kalind mountain in the form of a river, hence her name is also Kalindi. The Saptarishi Kund and the Sapt Sarovar are located atop of the Kalind mountain. It is mentioned in the Puranas that among the eight wives (पटरानियों) of Lord Krishna, there is also a beloved wife is Kalindi Yamuna. The oldest temple of Yamuna's brother Shani Dev is in Kharsali. It has been said - All those who come to Yamunottari Dham dives in the holy water of Yamunaji and visit holy Shani Dev temple in the Kharsali at Yamunotri, all their troubles are gone. At Yamunotri, by the touch of Suryakund, Divyashila, and Vishnukund, people are freed from all sins.
According to a mythological legend, it was the residence of Asit Muni. The present temple was built by Queen Guleria of Jaipur in the 19th century. It has once been destroyed by the earthquake, which was rebuilt. Yamunotri Tirtha is located at a height of 3185 meters in the Rajgadi (Barkot) Tehsil of Uttarkashi district, 251 km north-west from Rishikesh and 131 kilometers north-west of Uttarkashi. The amazing wonder of nature is the release of hot water streams from the rock with the sound like "Om". Between the two rocks in the foothills where there is a source of hot water, there is a shrine of Yamunaji in a narrow place. Actually temperate. “Seeing the critical condition the victim was in moved me. My first thought was disbelief. A lot of rapes happen, but the level of injuries was astonishing. I felt like I had to take this on.” - Deputy Commissioner of Police for South Delhi
On the evening of 16th December, Jyoti and a male friend named Awindra Pandey were returning from a night screening of Life of Pi at a local cinema. Whilst travelling home by bus, 6 fellow passengers ambushed and gang raped Jyoti before assaulting her with an iron bar. During this vile attack, her friend was held back and beaten, and afterwards they were both thrown from the moving vehicle and left to die in the road. Almost 2 weeks later, Jyoti sadly succumbed to her brutal injuries and passed away in hospital. When details of the brutality were publicised, women across India marched in the streets advocating for change, but police responded with physical force. As a result, anger at a societal level continued to rise and demand for change increased.
At the time, a woman named Chhaya Sharma had the role of Deputy Commissioner of Police for South Delhi, and she was completely horrified at what she witnessed after visiting Jyoti. She made it her mission to track the assailants and bring them to justice, despite being hindered by a lack of funding and resources. Over the next 3 days following the attack, Chhaya assembled a team who worked tirelessly to track down the specific bus where the attack took place. Starting with a list of 370 potential vehicles, it took just 5 days to work through a process of elimination and arrest all men involved.
Although solving this case proved to be a rapid process, the time spent bringing the attackers to justice was long and arduous. It took 6 years to reach a final verdict, a delay which further stimulated public unrest. One of the convicted males killed himself whilst in custody, and the remaining 5 received the sentence of death by hanging.
This very public yet violent crime against a young woman surpassed national boundaries and attracted attention from all over the world to improve women’s rights, ultimately triggering much needed changes in Indian legislation. In the aftermath of what happened, Jyoti became known as “Nirbhaya” in her local community, which translates to ‘the fearless one’.
