Phool: Why aren't we girls given any oportunities, grandma? Why do they force us to be helpless? Grandma: Maybe out of fear. Women can farm and cook. We can give birth to children and raise them. If you think about it, women don't really need men at all. But if all women figured this out, men would be screwed, wouldn't they?

Istg this movie was such a well written and beautifully depicted art. The simplicity of the movie to make us feel connected to the characters was so beautiful. The idea of touch in everything someone faces in a life. Showing us every kind of person, from a home that's not supportive to a home that is supportive. To a man who's abusive to a man who did everything to search for his wife. To a woman who was fighting for her right to study to a woman who wanted to live her life with her husband. To a woman who was abused by her husband to the same woman standing up for herself. To a police officer being corrupt to him showing his stand for something that's right. To a family who forced you to marry to a strange family supporting your dreams. To the man who are ferocious and cruel to the man who are sweet and kind. To showing how religion fights other religions to how them noticing their own flaws. To a woman not believing in any happiness to the same woman finding happiness in someone. To a man who abuses her wife to a man who supports his wife. To a woman losing herself in the responsibility of this society to the same woman making friends with another woman to showcase her talent. To a man not trusting his wife's character to a man who was searching for her like a madman cause he trusted her. The way they showed feminism in such a beautiful way, that every woman has different rights and opinions about what she wants. It was worth watching 🩷

The thing I like about Laapaata Ladies is about the girl, Phool, yeah that even though Dadi said Phool that your husband will not come, he left you, he took all your money, your jewellery, why would he return to you? And, you know, seeing Dadi doing it for herself and her husband left her and she's doing it all alone, you know. But Phool always, even after she got that money from Dadi, she said that I will do something, unke kaam me hath bataungi she will help her husband. So, the thing is, that even when the surroundings were all negative about her husband returning, she hoped that he will return. She knew that he will return, that he's finding her, she believed him, she had trust in him. Like in arranged marriages, how?, you don't know right, that she is out there and he took all her jewellery and and it's an arranged marriage, typical arranged marriage in that setting. All these things used to happen in that time that the guy will leave her, but she had trust in him, all because he was actually finding her, he was actually praying for her return, he started loving her when he said, ki English, full English mein bol ke dikhau and he said, I love you. He actually meant it. He was praying for Phool's return. That's why the faith and trust in Phool for her husband never died. And I love this.

in the movie Laapata Ladies, there is a quote that really stayed with me,
"being happy on your own is the toughest thing Phool.. , but yes, once you master it, no one can bother you"..
it's all about how you love yourself.
of all the love your soul craves, it craves you the most.

Why I love Laapata Ladies SO MUCH
In today's world where modesty is looked down upon, the gunhghat ( veil ) is a symbol of oppression to "modern people"
However in this movie, sure the brides are lost, but in the end it saves them.
It teaches Phool to become independent and become more aware of the world and gives Jaya a new chance at life to follow her dreams.
And the love story ong, its so pure and innocent, especially when Deepak tells I love you to phool in English, that's literally the cutest.
I kid you not I started crying when they started running towards each other on the station with Sajni Re playing in the background.
Also someone give the police officer an award, he was so awesome and stole the show fr ( FUCK YOU PARDEEP I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL YOU BASTARD )
Overall 100 / 10, To anyone who hasn't watched the movie yet please do, it's a masterpiece in today's shitty porn Bollywood world. ( ngl I was on the fence about this too when my aunts were watching it but then mum made me watch it last week and I was sobbing because it was so good )
