Recently watching Chinese dramas have been my priority! While I come across many dramas that I love everytime I start I feel I am gonna relieve those youth days and romances through the beautiful storytelling. No matter how many people feel different about it, I have always loved the essence behind these dramas there may be similarities and cliches, but every drama has an emotion to tell behind it there are so many lessons on daily life I feel so fulfilled every time I complete one. Recently I started watching 'Memory Of Encaustic Tale' , i thought it to be a cute -happy drama that's also confined in a small neighborhood with extremely cosy and warm relations which is gonna teach me a new lesson on friendship and love. But I never imagined it is gonna make me weep cry and mad with emotions? I am just so heart broken to even move through episodes of 15 onwards ! We humans are so fragile isn't it - we are so used to people and habits - we probably find the real meaning of emotions when they are taken away from us. It made me cry buckets and I still don't have the guts to move forward with the episodes although I will ! I had no expectations when I started it and now it has already left a void in my heart I had to write this to let off those heavy feelings from me , even though I would recommend it to everyone. Will love to analyse it only if I have the guts to . I am impressed!!

My review of Unchained Love / 浮图缘

Xiao Duo (played by Dylan Wang) is a fake eunuch who enters the palace to avenge the death of a loved one. Bu Yinlou (played by Chen Yuqi) is a woman of the emperor's household who is condemned to death. Xiao Duo rescues Bu Yinlou at the request of a prince (played by Peter Ho), but Bu Yinlou's fight for survival has only just begun.

This is definitely the best acting that I've seen from both Dylan Wang and Chen Yuqi so far!

It also showed a very different side of Peter Ho, one that was both horrible and pitiful. Tbh idk if I can look at him the same way again after this :')

Xiao Duo is a complex and layered character. On the surface, he's stoic and methodical, with a fearless and vindictive streak that makes him quite terrifying. But his desires are simple, and he has a loving, playful, and smug side.

Bu Yinlou is one of the funniest female lead characters I've ever seen! Although she's super goofy, she's also clever and perceptive. She knows how to protect herself, mess with her foes, and make the most of any situation. Deep down, what she yearns for most is freedom and agency.

I enjoyed the aesthetics of this drama, and some of the scenery and locations were lovely. I adore the cottage that they stayed in when they travelled to Xishu.

Dylan mentioned one of his favourite scenes being a scene at the cottage with no lines, just Xiao Duo watching Bu Yinglou and Bu Yinglou watching the horizon. When I got to that scene, I definitely understood what he meant. It's a simple but beautiful scene. In hindsight, the Xishu story arc almost feels unreal.

I vibed with the values of this drama a lot. The protagonists know what truly matters to them, when to fight, and when to let go. When Bu Yinlou finds a man that she likes, she bravely takes her chances. When the emperor asks her if she would really go so far out of love for Xiao Duo, she tells him what she really craves is not love, but freedom and choice. When the emperor is convinced by his advisors to believe in his own power and divinity, they lose control of him and suffer the consequences. When Bu Yinlou faces a father who doesn't love her, she has no illusions about what they owe each other. Although they are helpless against the power of the emperor, they insist on control over their own lives.

Unfortunately, many of the intimate scenes were deleted, so there are some continuity errors and gaps that you have to fill in yourself. But personally, it didn't affect how much I enjoyed the story. (And if you still want to see those scenes, some were released in bts clips or leaks.)

I really recommend giving this drama a try! It has quite a unique tone and it's very funny, even in some very serious moments.
