So I've made a concept art checklist BC I was thinking ab it and as a neurodivergent person, I really like checklists to help me remember how to do shit properly (at least to a standard I'd be happy with from myself) so here, its a breakdown of all the things you should be thinking about when creating a character from scratch. It should also help with the stress of making things perfect on the first try as you're only sketching to begin with.
1. Use a dynamic pose to show personality
2. What specific shapes are associated with characters personality or skills? Use those to build the body
3. Final sketch of JUST THE POSE (if you want to add a little bit of toning or tatas or whatever just to distinguish, feel free but this is a sketch)
4. Yes, you can check cartoons for facial expression references. (They're more enunciated than real people so can help with distinguishing what goes where.)
5. Choose specific dominant/pronounced features (big brow, large nose, sharp cheekbones, square jaw, whatever)
6. SKETCH ONLY head shape with prominent features highlighted.
7. Ctrl+C Ctrl+V or use tracing paper as many times as needed to account for different costumes and/or expressions
8. Colour palette time!! (Use a colour wheel to get complimentary and contrasting colours, skin tone and natural hair should always be complimentary while clothes and environment can be contrasting. REMEMBER washing your page with whatever the background colour will be can help make character decisions!!)
i. Colour palette checklist:
i1. Temperature
i2. Environment
i3. Season
i4. Personality/Skills
i5. General concept theme
9. Work on JUST clothing ideas (check Google and/or Pinterest for references)
10. Stick clothes onto sketches
11. Colour everything and check the palette works
12. Draw the final detailed "perfect" sketches
13. Colour and THEN render
14. Compile all the pieces together on one page
15. Profit.
Hope this helps someone. Feel free to reblog and I hope everyone has a good, creative spring/[current season]

Finally finishing a magazine I started in June, walking my dog on a different route in order to not feel so stagnant, making checklists so that I can better negotiate bad days, and of course a long hot bath to finish the day.

CAA's TV Diversity Study - A guide for "non-existent" DEI Checklists
CAA's TV Diversity Study is linked here: https://www.caa.com/tvdiversitystudy This document it positions itself as trying to improve representation of under "represented" or "marginalized" people which seems well intentioned and is the explanation we're typically given when studios are question on these clearly questionable behaviors. Some taking it as far as accusatorily reacting to any questioning or criticism as bigoted, racist, phobic, etc. However, the document itself is very telling that these practices encourage the exclusion of whites since they are not part of what is "diverse" per it's own definition on page 6,
but it also demonstrates that they are keenly aware of the exclusionary/racist nature of these practices and definitions by recommending avoiding using language that may make it evident on page 11.
Last but not least, the also suggest ignoring viewership as a success metric and reinforce that it is the impact of diverse representation that matters. Basically, non-white representation as defined by them on this very study and it's proposed guidance. Are studios taking this guide to heart? Who can say but the parallels of this study seem to explain quite a lot on why many keep emphasizing diversity. A specific example being Disney Star War's The Acolyte.
My personal takes:
Representation in and of itself is not bad in media, but the practice often falls very short of the ideal with purposeful exclusions and a seeming resentful approach to representing white males specifically, race/gender swaps, and the shoehorned inclusion of certain peoples that do not fit the time/setting, or lore (Example non-white Vikings).
Diversity quotas are simply racist and illegal in many countries including the US which is why companies are retreating and rebranding DEI to remove (at least the mention of) quotas and equity, while also including whites. Whether the actually practice is correctly, who can say?
Diversity can be organically integrated/nuanced without ruining stories. Unfortunately, many of the writers/consultants on productions have lacked the skills to accomplish this; often being activists hired for DEI purposes that seem solely focused hetero white male exclusion.
Meritocracy is key in an industry where excellence is needed. Anyone proposing that meritocracy results in exclusion or in an equal opportunity setting of certain people is simply demonstrating their bigoted views of assuming all people cannot achieve excellence unless afforded a guaranteed crutch. Does meritocracy settings are free of bias? No, but the answer is to call out the bias when possible not implement a counter guaranteed bias.
As always, don't take my word for anything. View and weigh the evidence for yourself and arrive at your own conclusions.

Unlocking Affiliate Success: The Hidden Power of Checklists
Unlocking Affiliate Success: The Hidden Power of Checklists
Waking up to National Checklist Day this morning sparked a realization—checklists aren’t just mundane to-do lists; they’re the backbone of progress, especially in affiliate marketing. Remember starting out with just one daunting goal: make money online? A broad, overwhelming thought that feels more like climbing Everest than a step forward. But when you break it down, step by step, you realize that transformation happens not in leaps but through simple, manageable actions.
Affiliate marketing taught one big lesson: success is about checking things off, one by one. Whether you're a newbie or seasoned in the field, you've probably felt the same—you have a goal but are unsure how to get there. You start by signing up for an affiliate program. Check. Select a product that resonates. Check. Write authentic, engaging content. Check. Each filled checkbox moves you forward, providing clarity and building momentum from the very first step.
This realization is encapsulated in a tool called MAP, the ultimate checklist tailored for affiliate marketers. It’s designed not just to lay out each necessary step but also to create a system that aids list building and commission earning simultaneously. Imagine having a blueprint that aligns perfectly with your business goals—a strategic map leading you through the clutter and complexity.
In the last six months alone, MAP has been a game changer, paying out over $512,000 in commissions. It's living proof that progress doesn’t stem from giant, intimidating objectives but from taking simple, logical steps toward a goal. Each of these steps propels you forward, similar to how every item ticked off on a personal checklist brings a sense of accomplishment and direction.
Currently, MAP is in Phase Two, offering a unique opportunity. If you’re ready to seize it, now’s your chance to get ground-floor access. Joining at this phase means lifetime access and a 75% commission—a tangible reward for those who dare to move forward. This is not just another checklist item, it's a milestone on your path to success. More than commissions, it’s about getting in early, referring others with ease, and watching your networks grow before Phase Three goes public. These are not just business moves; they are strategic checks that amplify your potential in the affiliate marketing sphere.
The beauty of checklists lies in their simplicity and effectiveness. They demystify the process and strip away the fear that often accompanies large tasks. By offering a clear, actionable path, they allow you to focus on execution rather than overplanning. Checklists transform vague ambitions into precise, doable tasks that make progress tangible and measurable.
Take a moment to consider your current goals. What outcome are you aiming for? Perhaps you’re striving for financial freedom through online entrepreneurship. The mechanics are complex, but when broken down into granular, actionable steps, progress becomes inevitable. Remember, each check off the list is a testament to your capability and commitment.
Join the MAP revolution, and embrace the simplicity of checklists that revolutionize productivity. Progress emerges from making headway, one small step at a time. Empower your affiliate marketing journey and build a landscape of consistency and achievement. Each check you make not only marks the completion of a task but also brings you exponentially closer to your big goals, reinforcing the journey and making the destination feel attainable.
Let’s start checking those boxes together, not just for the satisfaction of completion but for the promise of what lies ahead. Because each little check is a step towards unlocking the vast potential within your affiliate marketing adventure.
