SELF PORTRAIT
This is a self portrait I drew from an already existing image of myself. Taking inspiration from both Fauvism artists like Charis Tsevis. Tsevis is known for his digital portraits, which are made up of hundreds of images. So, this is my own interpretation of a digital collage. I enjoyed doing traditional collage, so I decided to embody that experience with my digital art. This piece took several hours to conseptualize, and I made sure that I had a lot of fun while making this as well.
I started off with the original image of myself, which I posterized and altered to fit a red color palette. I originally wanted this to be red black and white. I then took images of random things, like newspaper PNGs and images of cybergoths (they always pose around bricked walls and graffiti).
Similar to a color by number, I would fill in the highlights and the shadows with parts of the images that would match up with the colors. A piece of the brick wall on my face, velvet, leather and denim texture on my tee, along with cyber loc pieces to resemble the braids in my hair. That's when i begun to stray from matching the images color scheme.
I wanted the fragmented images that were added to look like ripped pieces of magazine. I even added paper textures to the background. Once I had finished adding my images, I drew over it with many brush strokes, textures, and lines to make the image pop. I also experimented with different blend modes, and their opacity.
Now it looked more like the mixed media collages that I was used to making. I used a smudge tool to push along the lines in the opposite direction from which they came. I added a fishnet png to resenble chicken wire, and bandana pieces to add more texture. Lastly, i fixed up the colors and liquified my face so that it was symmetrical on both sides.
I am very proud of the way this came out, especially since I had no idea what the outcome would be. I just kept working until I felt like it was finished.

Artist Creates Stunning Mosaic Portraits Inspired by Colorful Patterns From African Culture
Greek visual designer Charis Tsevis is well known for his intricate digital mosaics. Usually in the form of portraits, his mosaic artworks feature a wide range of subjects spanning from popular TV characters and musicians to U.S. presidents and international athletes. Tsevis finds inspiration for his pieces in almost everything, taking striking elements from a vast array of visual imagery and combining them into thematic portraits. One of his latest series, titled African Bricks, was inspired by his visits to the African continent and his study of its many cultures.

The Queen's Gambit από τον Χάρη Τσέβη
A series of mosaic portraits of Beth Harmon, aka Anya Taylor-Joy, made out of chess symbols. A self-initiated project honoring a good book, an interesting mini-series, and of course, a fantastic game.
It's mostly about my being a girl. — Beth Harmon
