One of my favourite things about Cha Dusik is how chill and kind he is. He isn't one of the many macho bastards with more pride than should be possible in the whole manhwa. Like this dude got his ass handed to him by a teenager, regretted his life for two seconds before he decided 'this kid is my favourite person now' and made sure to watch his back and protect the ppl Ijin cares about for no reason other than that he wanted to.

Plus, he's the last person you would expect to be this kind. Look at this shit!!

Idk it just warms my heart every time I see him and his buddy help out Grandpa Yu, it's so sweet I feel like teeth are rotting.

Also, the fact that he hasn't even tried to look into Ijin's background despite knowing he was lying about being a normal high schooler. He teases him about it, has pretty much given him his motorcycle, invites him out to eat kimbap and ramen randomly because he knows that's what he likes. Ijin is practically his little brother/nephew at this point and I just know that if Ijin ever calls him Hyung, he would be so fucking touched.

Dusik: *walks over to Ijin as he's having a stare down with some suspicious guy in hoodie* "Hey, Highschooler. Fancy seeing you here.."

Ijin had some nerves going on about wanting to find the meaning of family when he really spent 10 years out there, getting adopted by everyone and their mothers

Okay so I am two years too late. But I've watched Hometown Cha Cha Cha a million times and I rightfully have some thoughts.

Dusik is very masculine. But he's the soft kind of masculine. He subverts every trope of being a man without letting go of traditional masculinity, the kind we associate with those podcast men. And that's what is so beautiful about him. He's kind and understanding and doesn't shame or put down Hye Jin for Anything. Instead he sits and has a conversation with her and understands her viewpoint. And this especially comes through when Hye Jin is running and the grandmas are painting it as blasphemy. He talks to her like an adult capable of making her own choices instead of belittling her for wearing, what the grandmas thought of as "less clothes". Dusik shows that you can be traditionally masculine without being an asshole or embracing the more toxic parts of traditional masculinity. Like when he scolds the hardware store owner for not being there for HIS HEAVILY PREGNANT WIFE. And the fact that he is taking help for his mental health and IT IS SHOWN.

Now coming to Hye Jin. I absolutely loved her because she reminds me of myself. She's shy, a bit grumpy, introverted and is friendly... To her friends. She has trouble being with people and that shows in her actions and therefore she comes off as rude BUT THAT'S OKAY. She doesn't show her love through her words but through her actions and you can see that. And she's ambitious. She does what she needs to. She says only what she NEEDS to say and I need more female characters like that. She's not sunshine on a rainy day. And no one expects her to be and I doubt she will change and GOOD FOR HER. Her love and respect is earned. And you see that throughout the show. She slowly warms up to the people there. And she takes care of them in her own way. And even better? She does have an open mind. She's open to changes, she's open to listening and understanding. She's wise and she's kind (in her own way) and I love her for it.

Well, do you think in season 1, if the criminals came way earlier when the rest of Green Home residents haven't warmed up with Hyun-su yet and still viewed him as a monster, would he follow Wui-myeong? Would he side with him? Would Wui-myeong's ideal influence him? Would he abandon the Green Home residents?

I wonder if Dusik checked soccer updates from time to time

Like he obviously loves the sport still (idk if it ever goes away) and he always secretly checks on his fav team and all. One day seonghyeon catches him doing it and turns out that he loves soccer too and he just starts talking bout it.

Then he tells him about his grandfather and all and seonghyeon is like hyejin and scolds him for thinking like that and asks if he'd want to watch the game.

Hyejin is fully on board with the idea and watches it with them, even if she doesn't understand.

And that's how Dusik regains his love for soccer 🥹🥹🥹
