— If you create us a kingdom, we will write the book of our future. The future of the Church, of the world we live in will be ours, yours, and your children's. You say nothing? Why do you think we wished you a cardinal? So you would be Pope one day. Carve us out a kingdom, Cesare, and be both king and pope. I am stunned into silence.

Voiceplay Visuals: Seven Nation Army
This video debuted on the 13th of May, 2023, and is the second feature of Anthony Gargiula, who first collaborated with Voiceplay just a couple months prior for Golden Hour. Not much to say in my little intro here, let's just jump straight in!
Tumblr media
No clue where this was filmed (the description doesn't say), I'm guessing an old abandoned shopping mall or something?
Tumblr media
The necklace on full display once more!
Tumblr media
One thing I do know about the filming of this is that Voiceplay had to use duct tape to cover up/censor some of the graffiti, such as on the column/post on the left of the shot here 😅 (vibes and aesthetic are great, but gotta keep it PG!)
Tumblr media
This ain't the Eli from the Moana Medley and Daddy Sang Bass and Get Back Up Again and all that, this is a dude who I wouldn't wanna meet in a dark alley, and certainly wouldn't wanna pick a fight with!
(This Eli could definitely haul those hay bales no problem, I bet 😉😆)
Tumblr media
Would've loved to have seen Geoff actually swinging that bat at something in this video, for uh, Reasons 👀 👉👈
Tumblr media
(Pretty Boy)
Tumblr media
Group shot!
I saw a comment somewhere that referred to Cesar as "looking like the centrefold model in Zombie Apocalypse Monthly" or something along those lines and it was brilliant and hilarious. Cesar never fails to be iconic!
And yes, Geoff is once more the only one with bare shoulders in a video! Good For Him! (kinda wish he was wearing fingerless gloves like Anthony and Eli though, but only a little tiny bit)
Tumblr media
"c'mon" (in case you didn't know, this was Geoff's arrangement 😁😉)
Tumblr media
"make the sweat-" *bloop* "-out of every pore!"
(Layne was freaking nuts during this cover, but when is he not honestly?)
Tumblr media
GO OFF, ELI!! 🙌✊
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note to self: don't mess with Layne either! (actually don't mess with any of Voiceplay - be friends with them instead! (man I wish))
Tumblr media
Blink and you miss it! (Though you hopefully don't miss the sound effects that go with it!)
Tumblr media
Absolutely badass 👌
Shoutout to Geoff for the arrangement and video, and shoutout to all five of these dudes for being incredibly cool, and giving such an amazing performance! This song cover is one I have the lyrics memorised for, but not most of the arrangement, because this is a pretty dang complex one and there is so much going on! Very fun reactor material though (but really, so was practically everything else Voiceplay released in 2023!)
I have 4 more videos left to do from 2023, plus the two newest videos from this year, and then I'll be moving on to some of Geoff's stuff! So stay tuned!

Gandia character study fic? 👀 Please say more about it!
Happy to!
The one-shot chronicles most of his life, from early childhood to his death in the bank. The first half of the story is mainly chronicled through the summers he spent during his childhood in their vacation home in the Canary Islands and particularly through his relationship with a very close friend on the island. Their relationship is one of the most interesting parts of the story to me. But his father and mother, the complex relationship Gandia had with both, and their group of friends also play a big enough role.
Essentially, it starts with him as a relatively normal child (relatively) absorbing the horrible fascist culture around him and his military-man father growing up. And how he started becoming an active participant in it, growing more violent the more he's rewarded for his violence.
I really hope to return to it soon.

A Tale Of Two Kingdoms (movie mashup AU)
After the war and the great plague, the land was divided. The woodland belongs to the apes and the old settlements belong to the humans now. As long they respect the other's territory, peace maintains, but new conflicts between both species seem inevitable.
Knowing coexistence is only possible if both species start to understand each other better, Ceasar, the leader of the Eagle Clan, sets out on a diplomatic mission to meet with one of the humans' spokeperson named Malcolm. Noa, Ceasar's son who has yet to live up to his father's expectations as the future leader of the clan, accompanies his father's delegation to the human colony where he meets Malcolm's rebellious daughter Mae, who likes to sneak out of the colony to explore the old city ruins.
While Ceasar and Malcolm work together to establish long-term peace between the two species, Noa and Mae grow closer on their secret adventures and fall in love against the odds. But dark forces on both sides rise to prohibit the alliance between apes and humans.
Coba, Cesar's oldest friend and Noa's godfather who despises humans, betrays the Eagle Clan by turning to Proximus, the leader of a rival clan who seeks dominion over both apes and humans. Coba and Proximus attempt to assassinate Ceasar, leaving him severly injured while they take charge of the apes and attack the colony.
Meanwhile Malcolm's political rival Korina contacts Colonel McCullough, the ruthless leader of a mercenary army, to help the colony get rid of their ape problem. When the soldiers attack the apes and start to threaten the colonists as well, Koba sacrifices himself to save Noa and make up for his betrayal. Stepping into his father's footsteps Noa confronts Proximus and defeats him while Mae saves the colony by blowing up the Colonel's base.
After defeating their common enemies, apes and humans forge a new alliance with Noa and Mae's love as a beacon of hope for a better future and peaceful coexistence between apes and humans. edit

Ladislao Reti, an eminent Leonardo scholar, acknowledged that historians of the past have struggled with how to reconcile their exalted reputation of Leonardo and the fact he worked for Cesare Borgia. This is true for both past and contemporary writers. Paolo Giovio (1483-1552), bishop of Nocera, wrote Life of Leonardo da Vinci and intentionally excluded Cesare entirely from the work, to rid Leonardo of an association that Giovio saw as a tamish on the artist's reputation. Vasari also redacts any mention of Cesare Borgia from his Vita di Leonardo. The writings on Leonardo's life by Gian Paolo Lomazzo, a friend of Francesco Melzi who was Leonardo's student and the individual to whom he bequeathed his notebooks, also offer no reference to the artist's time with Borgia. Even Martin Kemp and Kenneth Clark, both well respected leading minds in the circle of Leonardo studies, minimize the association, customarily dedicating only a surface analysis to the intensive, complicated, and formative period in Leonardo's life. The perpetual disassociation is a disservice to both the artist and his patron-the historical importance of each individual only heightens the value in understanding their relationship and its outcomes. Leonardo and Cesare probably met for the first time when Borgia entered Milan with the French army in 1499. Leonardo arrived in Milan around 1482 and quickly began his association with the court of Ludovico Sforza and in 1489-90 he began earning an official salary. Leonardo's employment in the court of Milan was very different from the time he spent with Cesare. It would be narrow to assume that Leonardo never executed for Cesare the duties traditionally held by court artists like the entertainments staged in Milan. It will in fact be argued that he did, but Cesare's treatment and utilization of Leonardo was different from Ludovico's. The Borgia ruler valued Leonardo for divergent reasons and gave him extraordinary latitude in his work. Cesare treated him as an equal, not as a possession but an asset to honor, as someone from whom he had great respect, and as a familiar. With Cesare Leonardo was given freedom, and although he was given projects, they were self-propelled and stimulating to his curiosity which had struggled to thrive in Milan. He was given the title of military or ducal engineer, one of the most sought after court positions for which an artist could earn a salary. We know from his letter of introduction to Ludovico Sforza in 1489-90 that Leonardo wanted this position. [...]With Borgia he finally held the position that he desired.
At the Court of the Prince: The Patronage and Art Historical Legacy of Cesare Borgia, 1492-1503. Elizabeth H. Bemis

uhhhh random bigtop burger hcs lets go boys
- Billie doesn’t dye her hair, she just has a history of premature greying in her family
AND ON THE TOPIC OF HAIR, doctor is a natural dirty blonde (more dirty blonde when he was younger)/Hazel and Conrad has naturally brown hair.
- Cesare has a habit of just wide-eye staring at people. he doesn’t even mean to, he just does it sometimes.
-Conrad has a little rat dog at home and he loves her very much.
-AUTISTIC PENNY 💪💪‼️‼️
-I also think Cesare is Autistic but yknow. doesn’t know it.
I think it’s one of the reasons he talks so loud, besides the fact hes just naturally dramatic, I think he just doesn’t recognize his volume a lot of the time.
- Steve has like a little army of stray cats he likes to feed. he has names for all of them too.
- Doctor and Frances definitely smoke before they clock in for the day. like just a little bit. its the only way they can get through it.
I think thats all I can think of rn

"It’s interesting that Juan’s attempt at relieving pain is through closeness and hugging and love. When he forgives Cesare at the end saying how they’re brothers and wants to be together, I think that’s genuine. That’s the first time you realize what he’s always wanted." (x)

I was just thinking of the fact that in past centuries, puberty tended to come later than it does today, due to differences in nutrition.
I've read many times that until the 20th century, girls typically got their first period around age 16.
Just now it dawned on me: did this difference also affect how late a boy's voice usually changed?
I was just thinking of certain teenage boy characters in opera, who are "pants roles" or "trouser roles" (sung by women) despite presumably being old enough to have changed voices.
For example, the role of Sesto in Handel's Giulio Cesare, who was historically 19 when the events of the opera take place.
Or Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, who presumably has an unchanged voice in-universe since the other characters repeatedly disguise him as a girl, yet who is old enough to be sent into the army and to be suspected of sleeping with the Countess.
Or Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, who is explicitly 17, yet masquerades as a girl even more successfully than Cherubino.
As characters who either were written in the 18th century or live in the 18th century, might these boys all have unchanged voices in-universe, at later ages than they would if they lived today?

I saw one post on Reddit saying that Giovanni Auditore was a bad dad. Like dude William Miles is a bad dad but Giovanni? I don’t think so.
... I didn't see the post nor do I have any plans to search Reddit for it XD
Our standards for being a good dad is pretty low in AC though, considering... William Miles is, like, right there making it easy to set a bar for bad dads in AC. (There are worse dads in AC though, it's just that Bill is more or less the sorta standard for bad dads in this fandom XD)
I personally don't think Giovanni is a bad dad. I do believe things would have turned out differently if Giovanni had told his children about the Brotherhood and the secret war with the Templars but I can also understand why he didn't do it.
If anything, there's more of an argument to be made that Giovanni is a bad Assassin than a bad dad, mainly because of his close connection to Lorenzo and how that brought House Auditore in the spotlight. He certainly made it a 'bit' easy for the Templars to realize that he was an Assassin and that put a huge target on his and his family's back.
To be fair, Monteggrioni didn't really shy away from showing House Auditore's Assassin roots... and that is the reason why Cesare was able to destroy it with the Papacy Army.
I got sidetracked.
tl;dr: Is Giovanni a bad dad? Don't think so. Bad Assassin? An argument could be made and how his actions led to the death of his two sons together with him.

[Do you think Juan is jealous of Lucrezia’s and Cesare’s relationship?] […] I don’t think he’s jealous of them being together. I think he’s jealous of not being a part of it as well. When he forgives Cesare at the end saying how they’re brothers and wants to be together, I think that’s genuine. That’s the first time you realize what he’s always wanted. He just wants to be a part of the family and at every turn they’ve not allowed him. They’ve always pushed him away which is a great a shame..
— DAVID OAKES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, the irony that is Cesare asking "Will love make him [Juan] a better man?" and being so certain that no, it will not. Yet, in reality if him and Lucrezia would've only shown Juan half the love they showed each other, it probably would've made Juan a better man. Because all he ever wanted was your affection, Cesare. That's it. He never really cared if he had the papal armies or not, he just wanted your respect. Your love. (And Lucrezia's.) But you were so busy vying for your father's affection/respect/trust and being in love with Lucrezia you didn't even care enough to notice the needs of your own brother.
#yeah i mean juan also used the fact he was tasked as the leader of the papal army leader just to get cesare's attention and wind him up#he knows cesare is hypercompetent unlike him but he didn't care it was negatively it was his way to express his affection#and only when he was absolutely and utterly shattered did he finally have the clarity to ask for love with sincerity#it was too late#also it all comes down to cesare and lucrezia excluding juan from everything! about paolo for example#lucrezia only told cesare of course therefore paolo was a threat to his sister and her reputation#if juan knew that paolo was a solace to lucrezia back at pesaro he wouldn't have killed him#that being said#it wasn't just his siblings who didn't care about him...his parents as well#it's really shocking how nobody cares about why he is behaving rabidly. or how they might help him. he's obvs suffering from deceases#and zero consideration that he has suicidal tendencies ofc#like physical and emotional pain and opium and getting high on opium was his only escapism from the suffering#and juan being self-awared knowing how hypocritical they all look and sound#it's alos very interesting to me how he's desperate and touch-starved @ his family#that hug before cesare stabbed him... it was probably the warmest and safest he had felt in ages like he was teary eyed and smiling#he didn't care that cesare betrayed him at forli and tried to kill him twice. he still wanted to give their brotherhood a chance#because he desperately needs it and that vision he saw when he was high made him so relieved#“he's killed me just like you both wanted”#“i should have never loved you” what alfonso said those words it kinda sums up everything tbh#if you are not cesare and lucrezia...do NOT love cesare and lucrezia#the borgias meta#juan and cesare#text post

sorry but i literally CANNOT believe cesare gets everything he wants: his fathers trust, his fathers love, his fathers legacy, his fathers forgiveness and absolution of his sins, catherina sforza’s defeat and humiliation, the love of his men, juan’s position as head of the army, the death of his sister’s husband take two AND solid proof that lucrezia is just like him AND her love AND an empire at his feet and it’s somehow still a tragedy like that’s television baby!!
