it hurts my heart how non-recent anime that fill up my whole heart at a single thought just aren't on most new and/or young anime fans' radar

the feeling of comfort i get from remembering some older anime spreads from my heart all the way to my brain with a rush of "why hasn't everyone watched this"

Quick anime roundup thoughts:

Finally finished my rewatch of Higurashi Sotsu. It's solid for the most part, 3.5/5, I'll be writing a review for it and Gou and finally post my Higurashi full series review in coming days (something I meant to do last year).

I've largely been distracted from anime, trying to get through my backlog of media (it's huge) and choosing to focus on wrestling for a bit.

But, I watched The Detective is Already Dead, which was so painfully average. There was nothing about it that separated it from the genre at large. 2.5/5 at it's best, 2/5 at it's worst.

Also rewatched Cencoroll so I could watch Cencoroll 2 (Cencoroll Connect). They're both great for animation and an interesting idea about aliens. The first movie is too short to really do anything with the ideas though, and though the second one does expand, it adds a bunch of archetypical characters. 3/5 for both, which might be generous, but I like the premise, I just want them to do more with it.

I also started Uninhabited Planet Survive because a mutual recommended it. For being a family show it's better than I anticipated. But at 50+ episodes it's gonna take me a bit to finish I think.

Takeaway? Please watch Higurashi.

Watch List- Anime and Foreign Language Animation (Latest Update Nov. 6, 2024)

Non-English Animation watch list. I keep this one separate from general shows because I vary in whether i want to watch subs or dubs, not to mention the fact that some don't have a dub at all so I can't watch some of these as casually as I can a show in English.

Because of the sheer number of things I want to watch I’m separating my watch list posts into four categories. I keep them separate primarily for organization so I can decide what to watch based different variables (mood, time, language, etc)

Just for elaboration btw (this is without the addendum of Giga-P because I JUST realized he also worked on it)

Atsuya Uki worked on the character designs for Tri! His style especially comes through when you compare it to his other Vocaloid related projects such as Sekiranun Graffiti, and the cover arts for ODDs&ENDs, and Look this Way Baby!. He also did official promo art for the official Digimon x Hatsune Miku collab.

(His style is also pretty recognizable if you compare it to other anime he’s done work for such as Tsuritama, and Cencoroll.)

As for Reol, it’s not THAT unknown given her popularity among Vocaloid fans. I think the fact that Giga-P was on the same project might NOT be though? But for those who are not aware:

Q?, the second ending for the 2020 anime is sung by Reol while Giga-P produced the sound, both of them collaborating on the music. You can find full credits on the official music video.

Reol’s most notable in the Vocaloid community for being an utaite (see the streaming heart cover above). She used to be in a trio with Okiku and Giga-P (the latter of which she still collaborated with although not sure about Okiku). Outside of being an utaite she’s also worked on notable songs such as Hibikase and Drop Pop Candy, doing the lyrics for them just as she did the lyrics for Q?.

As for Giga-P, he’s a music producer who got his start doing Vocaloid ala Kenshi Yonezu. While he doesn’t tend to sing his own songs, he produces for other notable people i.e. vtubers, ado, etc. Other notable works of his include, Childish War (which also was a Reol collab), Ready Steady, and his Electric Angel remix.

Another addendum that I didn’t count because this was a merch collab, but MikitoP has also produced music for digimon, doing an official Miku cover of Butter-Fly.

MikitoP is a Vocaloid producer, and some of his most notable works include Roki, 1 2 Fanclub, and Kunoichi demo Koi ga Shitai!

Of course there’s the official digimon Miku collab of course, but I specifically wanted to focus on creators here. If I find out about any other neat facts about Vocaloid creators working on digimon I will be adding them to this post.

If I had a nickel for every time a Vocaloid adjacent person worked on digimon I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it’s happened twice
