Alice inviting Sam and Celia to the show seems less like trying to fuck w Sam or his relationship (or even flirting w then both) and more like she's fucking lonely. she might have genuinely wanted them there, cuz, y'know, hanging out w people is how you make and keep friends generally. like,,,, before Celia it sounded like Sam and Alice were chillin' at work and had regular banter but since Celia showed up Sam's attention is all on her and hes started treating every interaction with Alice as an annoyance (and just generally being grumpy, if you consider his interaction w Gwen that one time). plus it's not like Gwen has time for Alice to even mess w her anymore. everything is changing and I don't think Alice is taking it well

Any ideas of how the btd/tpof characters would act if they found out they are in a game and are not real? Also how would they interact with the player (or if they would even try)

I combined these two since they’re basically the same question.

Strade- He would be confused and lost at first, but he might actually take it as encouragement to hurt more people, because that means fewer consequences if they aren’t ‘real’.

Ren- Would be very unnerved, but he’d make a connection with shows he’s watched/games he’s played, and that familiarity would give him a bit of comfort. He’d definitely try and talk to you about it to understand. He might develop some kind of separation anxiety when you aren’t playing, because you’re his only connection to the real world. It panics him when you’re gone, because this is all so new and hard to comprehend.

Lawrence- Lawrence would panic at first, because that situation is unfamiliar. However, he’d eventually conclude that it doesn’t matter if he’s in a game— this world is fake regardless. The River is all that’s real. (He doesn’t consider that fact that the River is also part of the game),

Sano and Akira- since they live together, they’d talk to each other and try to figure out their point of view on this. They’d likely try and communicate with you to get more information. Sano would want to try and access the game files for info, but he doesn’t know how. Akira would rather talk to the player directly.

Vincent- he’d be lost for a while, he doesn’t know what to think. That means he’s not real, his life isn’t real.. but also, all the people he’s hurt or killed aren’t real either. So does that mean he isn’t at fault? He might have some mental crisis along those lines, but he’ll be alright,

Farz- He might actually freak out a little. Not anything crazy, but that’s something that can seriously catch him off guard.

Cain- he might try to talk with the player, but first he may try to talk with people he knows. Other fallen angels, relatives he hasn’t tried to kill, that sort of thing. He might be skeptical of you at first and want another opinion. I think he’d be very confused and even concerned if you managed to prove yourself.

Rire- He wouldn’t believe you at first. It would take a lot of convincing (maybe killing the MC repeatedly, only for them to come back and say the same thing). He’d be badly thrown off, and for once he’s worried about lack of power in the situation.

Derek- He’d flat out say you’re wrong, at first. You’d have to convince him. It gets to the point where he’s just lying to himself by saying that you’re wrong— it’s undeniable. He’d probably be nervous, but he can’t show that. His whole family still doesn’t know. How’s he supposed to live with that? He too, like Strade, might take the opportunity to hurt you more, though. Especially with his frustration at the discovery.

Celia- would try to communicate with you somehow to get some answers. Maybe she’d try and get on your good side, so you can sway things in her life. Like, if she’s in a video game, maybe you can adjust the code to make things better for her? (She doesn’t know yet that MC is not the creator)

Mason- He probably wouldn’t be able to grasp the concept. Even if you explained it well, he might not understand. If you gave him proof (something only he could know, like his backstory for example) he might assume you’re some sort of inhuman creature, because no regular person could know that. He’d hunt you regardless.

Sam has been passed over several times in his life. he wasn't chosen by The Magnus Institute, he didn't get accepted to Oxford, perhaps other things (COUGH COUGH maybe Alice pushed him aside during their relationship but she Definitely dipped out after her parents deaths as mentioned COUGH COUGH) and also "i dont have time for this" "no one ever does". Hello.

I feel like he's just waiting for Celia to push him aside too. Maybe he's half expecting her not showing up to their date to become a regular thing, maybe she secretly intended to stand him up, maybe she just doesn't know how to break it to him that she doesn't want-

"I want to."

But she does. She does want him. For now, at least, she wants him. And maybe he's a little excited about that.

Dyhard is a really fun relationship to play around with because they're such inverses. Like, Gwen is constantly emphasizing how she's trying to focus on her work while Alice is willfully uninterested in her job, and both try to get the rest of the Office to follow their lead in that regard. But Gwen seems to constantly be swamped with backlog, despite her ambitious attitude, whereas Alice is always on top of her caseload, despite having absolutely no interest in promotion

And when it comes to relationships with the rest of the Office, Gwen so desperately wants to be taken seriously and respected, but nobody gives her that. Meanwhile, Alice "you make it so hard to be friends with you" Dyer is one of the few people Colin humors, is staying in touch with Teddy even after he's left, is one of the people Sam most trusts, and is even trying to be on better terms with Celia despite the awkwardness between them. And for all her jabs at Gwen, she does still show regular concern for her (so long as that concern doesn't interfere with her cardinal rule of not getting too involved in spooky stuff). Their relationship with Lena is also black-and-white: Gwen actively tries to get her attention (and gets negative attention as a result), while Alice has nearly no interaction with her (something which Lena mentions is a compliment). These different approaches to relationships are also seen in how they react to the existence of the supernatural wrt the Office -- Gwen invites an External in, possibly putting everyone at risk, while Alice actively tries to discourage the others from getting involved with the incident reports because "curiosity killed the cat"

Even the way they handled their encounters with the supernatural was opposite! Gwen kept everything to herself and refused to admit how much it messed her up, despite her appearance showing it; Alice told the others right away and openly admitted that it seriously messed her up, even though her appearance doesn't show it. Alice received immediate support from Celia and Sam about the validity of her experience; Gwen was laughed out of the room

But they're both at such extreme ends of their scales that they're in danger of falling off the edge: Gwen is trying to know too much and Alice is trying to avoid too much. In their line of work, those opposite ends are equally dangerous. At the moment, they're so different that they keep bouncing off of each other -- conversations don't last and feelings remain static because they're just too different to find common ground. But they've been having more and more experiences that could be common ground, and they're both what the other person needs. Gwen's strengths are Alice's weaknesses and vice versa. And I think that dynamic is really fun to think about (platonically or romantically)
