You know what? I think we need more Shepards who are victims of the military industrial complex

Like, my Shep is Earthborn; she grew up in extreme poverty and watched her mother fall into drug addiction and then die from it. Her first love died in a gang shooting, just because they were in the wrong place. She had zero options or opportunities to live a better life.

Except for joining the Systems Alliance.

So she does, and she excels because she has no other choice. She makes N7, survives Akuze and comes back for more because she can't go back to her old life, to the homelessness, poverty and crime.

By the time ME3 comes around, I feel so badly for her because she never really had a choice, at the end of the day. Which is why I decided to let her survive the war, she deserves that much.

Lord Hermes Deep dive

Lord Hermes is amazing, he is the darling of the gods and of our hearts, he is strong in gymnastics and in spirit, he is the last thing we see, and the lord of our words, and as a worshiper and as a researcher I believe he is amazing and wonderful, I absolutely adore him, so I should probably stop writing, or it'll become a love letter, but I've worshiped this god for around 2 years, maybe more, but I know well he is amazing and deserves respect.

Some summarized myths •

Birth- Hermes was born from his mother Maia, the goddess of the fields, and his Father Zeus, he hid in a cave with his mother in Mt. Cyllene in Arcadia, the same day he was born (or when he was a toddler), he ran away while his mother was out, he stole cattle and turned their feet backwards, to 'trick' Apollo, he went back to the cave and made a fire and sacrificed 2 cows to catch the gods attention and ate 1 and hid the rest, outside after he ate he saw a  tortoise feeding and cleaned it out and made strings together from a cow he ate, and made a lyre and a plectrum, and Apollo found him, furious he took him to his father and he denied everything and zeus found it hilarious, and he had to head back to the place where he hid the cattle, on the way he played the lyre, Apollo was enamored by it and asked for it and in return he would be his best friend and forgive him, and while helping Apollo tend to the cattle he made pan pipes, which Apollo made him a deal for his iconic golden snake staff and the skill of phropecy by using pebbles.

Killing Argos- Zeus had a lover Io, Who he was laying with in a field, Hera saw and strolled over, he struck in panic turned her into a cow, and Hera came over and demanded it as a gift, and zeus obliged, zeus in a panic asked Hermes to slay it, Hermes went to the cane where the all-seeing giant was, he lured him to sleep with a song, and when he was asleep, he slashed all his eyes and killed him, and took the cow, and in grief Hera turned the giant into a peacock to save the memory and to honor the giant. that's the myth where he gained the title 'Argos slayer'

I call to Hermes, god of the marketplace, god of the the deal, from whose hands fall shining coins. I call to Hestia, goddess of the home, goddess of good management, who knows the ways of thrift. May you lore dump about your ocs? 🥺 I checked out the posts about them and they look to be so cool and interesting! Especially since they're inspired by historical fiction and eldritch horror (two things I totally love!) How did you come up with your ocs? -🪽

Yes! Thank you so much for the ask! I love talking about my OCs!

I suppose I should start with the world building. My story takes place in a world where at the closure of WW2, instead of the nuclear bomb being the break out technological advancement, it was the discovery of eldritch outer realms. This brings the war to a quick close as world powers quickly harness the eldritch energy to make new weapons. My story takes place in the aftermath of this. Some societies knew about the outer realms for years but this was the first time humans themselves had access to such power.

The groups that knew about the outer realms were four sets of immortals, that had found their starts on earth via different methods throughout history. Some come from the stars, some from other dimensions and some split off from humans themselves. There are the werewolves, dragons, unicorns and vampires. They all disagree about how humans should be ‘shepherded’ and led into the new eldritch age, and wage war against one another because of it.

Some important OCs of mine are shown below. I will talk a little about them here, in order:

- Pyran: A member of the elusive Unicorn Nomads. He is unfathomably old, is generally kind but can also be arrogant. Believing he knows what is best for everyone due to his status as an old unicorn. He is the partner of Ziggy.

- Ziggy: A human man around 30. His family was involved in the discovery of the eldritch realms years ago and made a fortune from it, but he is a disappointment to them. He isn’t particularly hard working and found it hard to fit in before meeting Pyran and Elsbeth and embarking on a journey with them.

- Scarlett: A human woman who grew up obsessed with the stories of immortals and the discovery of the eldritch realms. She stumbles across Lutz, a werewolf, during her research and marries him.

- Lutz: A blind werewolf warrior from a small village in the middle of nowhere, increases hard to find for those who have not been told where it is. He uses his werewolf abilities to defend his people even though he is blind. He meets Scarlett when she is down on her luck and quickly falls in love with her. Eventually starting a family. Uses a halberd.

- Martin: A vampire who advocates for the spread of eldritch energy and weapons, he is a cruel man, taking pleasure in human suffering. His greatest enemy is Elsbeth as her sun/fire mastery is a threat to an undead like him.

- Joy: A cheerful dragon military leader from the hidden dragon isles, a place entirely inhabited by dragon women. Despite their past, the dragons have not gone to war in a long time and this shows in Joy’s soft, happy demeanour. People are put off by how kind and nice she is for a commander. Elsbeth used to occupy her position in centuries past where dragons were more ‘enthusiastic’ about war and conquest.

- Elsbeth: Possibly the most promising dragon warrior ever to have lived. She is centuries old and a master of flight and fire. She can have a bad temper and tends to hurt people on purpose to hide how much she cares deep down. She was exiled from the dragon isles long ago for bringing disgrace to dragon-kind. She has a rivalry with Joy at first but they quickly learn to love one another. Ziggy is her best friend but she does not approve of Pyran due to his arrogance and status as a unicorn as dragons have historically been at odds with them.

- Nimue: Essentially the antithesis to Elsbeth. A very old water dragon who is also an excellent warrior. They can’t live with one another and they can’t live without one another. She is cheerful and confident and can be a little promiscuous.

- Silas and Cassia: Siblings from the oldest and most respected family in the dragon isles. Cassia is the oldest of many immortal sisters and Silas is her new younger brother. Men do not inherit dragon powers or immortality, but sometimes present with the odd horn or two. Cassia babies him, knowing she will not get much time with him compared to her sisters.

And that’s the basics!! My blog is named after this story, ‘Call of Chimera’. It’s far from done and my dream is to one day make a webcomic about it. Generally the story has a very dieselpunk/fantasy vibe and is an amalgam of inspiration from many of the books, games, shows and legends I love.

Cassia banged on my door at an unholy hour and I really would rather have been sleeping. “What?” I groaned back loud enough to be heard through the door.

“Get up! Wishing hour,” she yelled through the door back at me.

That jolted me awake and I jumped out of bed. Wishing hour. We’d been waiting all spring for wishing hour. I yanked clothes on and joined Cassia in the living room. “Sorry sorry,” I said as I left my room.

“Save it,” and she handed me goggles and a mask to go over my mouth and nose. “It just started so we have time but it’d have been better if you weren’t asleep.”

“I didn’t mean to fall asleep its just ass in the morning,” I complained as I pulled on the goggles. Wish gathering was tricky business. Look at or breathe too much and it’d infect you and make you make a wish. A good wish could deplete an entire meadow and Cassia and I couldn’t afford that.

Cassia already had her fine mesh net and was waiting for me at the door. She opened it once I was fitted and stepped outside.

It was like the ground was a mirror reflecting the stars back up at themselves. That was what our dandelion crop looked like. The gentle fluffy halos of light swayed gently in the soft night wind. I closed the door and we were bathed in darkness except for the glowing dandelions and the stars. The moon was an empty orb in the sky that night but it appeared purple in the sky during the wishing hour.

Cassia handed me half of the net and we headed to opposite ends of the meadow and set them up on well used poles. I could barely see her or the net but she sent a glowing bit of light along the weave when her side was ready. My turn.

I pulled a whistle made of sepiolite from my pocket that had hanging from it several jade and turquoise beads and the feathers of three types of hummingbirds. I put it to my lips under my mask and almost swallowed it. When the sepiolite became warm from my mouth and formed against the shape of my jaw I blew a short note. The air around us stilled. Then using my tongue I chirped out a rising scale on the whistle and using the pressure in my cheeks and my tongue to shape the air I used the whistle to play a melody that sounded like the waving of tree branches in the wind, or the rippling sound of grass on a brisk day.

The wind came on strongly and nearly lifted me off my feet even as it shook loose all the dandelion seeds. The thousands of little lights lifted off the meadow like fireflies and were swirled into the air by a whirlwind creating a tornado of glowing dandelion seeds. I commanded the wind like a shepherd did his herding dog with my whistle and the seeds were blown towards us. Because of the size of the net we caught them all.

Across the meadow Cassia did her own magic and before any of the seeds could even start to fall the net rolled up like a window blind catching them securely. I took my part of the net off the pole and walked towards her. “That was a pretty good haul,” she said when she saw me. I just made a cheerful whistle sound that made her laugh. We carefully dumped the still glowing seeds into a container we’d placed there a few days ago and Cassia put the lid on. “That didn’t take too long, we got plenty more,” she said and indicated the rest of the plain where the dandelions were glowing softly like stars. I nodded with a raspy whistle, grabbed my side of the net and headed for the next pole.

The shadowed moon had turned black when we finished and had two crates of dandelion seeds. I carried one on my shoulder and the handle of another which Cassia helped me with. It wasn’t a far trek and we placed the crates in the living room with tired groans.

“Sooo, we doing luck bread this year?” Cassia asked me sarcastically. I rasped a whistly sound at her. “Oh! I forgot,” she said and came up to me. She pulled down my mask and said the magic word as I opened my mouth. The whistle made a horrible sucking sound as her magic hand pulled it from my jaw. My tongue was dry and cracked from use.

“Maybe a little,” I said with a lisp and kept swallowing and licking my lips. “We deserve some good luck.”

“Luck bread doesn’t sell as well,” she reminded me.

“Taste good,” I grumbled. She went and got me some tea that was cool from being brewed over an hour ago. “Hurty,” I complained but drank the tea. My tongue and jaw hurt so much from the wind herding

“I’ll make you a healing draught once we get this organized,” she said looking at our haul of faintly glowing seeds in the box.

I groaned. “Fine,” I said. Living with a witch was more trouble than it was worth. “Then you’re making me a draught, then we’re making bread, and then I’m spending the rest of the week on shimmer.”

“Yeah yeah okay ya addict,” she teased me. I finished my tea and and got the scales so we could start weighing and sorting our yearly harvest.

Papyrus owns a Saint Bernard named Puzzle! (Plus the annoying Dog.) Sans has a pet rock named, expertly, "Rocky".

Cardinal has a pitbull named Spike. Plus a pet mouse that he saved from the jaws of death from Goose (he named this mouse Pikachu). And a cat named Pepper. Captain has a cat named Goose.

Stretch decided to adopt a German Pinscher named Reaper. Blue has no pet at this current point in time.

Airen owns a ball python named Jade and a cat named Tom. Dolce, ironically, owns a mouse named Jerry.

Caramel has a spider named "Drake". His brother has no pets.

Hound has a possum (he caught in the garbage) and named her "Trash".

Chai is gonna own lots of chickens and his brother, Ceylon, is probably gonna adopt an Australian Cattle dog named Adalaide.

Cinnamon owns a siamese cat named Norris. Clove has no pets currently.

Cassia's Doomfanger (Goose), unfortunately, passed away during the famine. But he does have all of his Goose's litter. He named them Akira, Diva, Everest, Max, and Skadi. Chive decided to adopt a husky named Diesel.

Sienna has a wolf named Mishka while her sister has a wolf named Katniss.

Citron owns a wolf named Frostine. Vapor has a pet swan named Fenella.

Roscoe has a German Shepherd named Winona. Chief adopted a rescue Ragdoll cat named Peggy.

Prism has a cat named Leon. Piper has a mixed husky named Midnight. Ivy has two cats one named Autumn, the other named Izzy. Ivy also has a dog named Aspen.

Yuki owns a cat named "Snowball". Lucy has a goat named Buttons. Mavis has a rooster named Cloud and Markus has a hen named Sunny. Leo has a lion named Alex. Sakura and Kaede have twin cats one named Cherry, the other named Blossom.

Sparrow has a hawk named Hunk.

Ayla has a fox named Sun. Cyra has a wolf named Moon.

Hydrangea has two cats and a Great Dane. Her cats are named Oreo and Coco. Her Great Dane is named Stella.

I just finished watching the videos of the dates, and I have to say they’re the best I’ve read yet! 吹爆吹爆吹爆！ 👍🏻👍🏻

If not for the fact that I’m holding onto my gems for the possible HP collaboration and the eventual revival of this year’s CNY karmas, I’d definitely get these karmas, if only because of the dates.

Anyway, here are the introductions for each guy! Preserving these mainly for my personal records but it relates somewhat to this post.

Xu Mo = Baize（白泽）

There is a beast on Wang mountain named Baize. It knows about ghouls and deities and is familiar with the appearance of all things. 

When the sun and stars hide away their light, demons and beasts run wild.

However, once the Baize appears, all the demons stay out of its way.

Ling Xiao = Zheng

A beast is born in Zhange mountain; drinking the rains it travels the lush forests.

Using the clouds as its covers it rests on fragrant grass; raising its five tails its roar reverberates like gold hitting rock.

Defeating the candle dragon it rids the land of weeds; making clear distinctions between right and wrong it devours evil.

Shepherding the clouds and thunder it commands the cloud deity; searching for chaos it distinguishes between dark and light.

Passing the years alone it sits on a boat of cassia wood; gazing at the Girl asterism it sees a beautiful woman.

Zhou Qiluo = Three-legged crow （金乌）

The three-legged crow lives in the sun and has three feet.

At midnight, it rises from the bottom of the ocean; from one in the morning it gradually rises above the fusang tree; at dusk it returns to rest in the west.

Time flows on; again and again the cycle repeats.

One day, just as the storm ceases, the three-legged crow is walking along the stream when it hears someone crying in the middle of the woods. It follows the noise to its source.

After taking a few steps, it sees a woman taking shelter beneath a tree. Completely soaked through, she shivers uncontrollably.

Hearing the noise, the woman raises her head, surprised to see the three-legged crow.

For the rest of its life, the three-legged crow has gained a close partner, and it never has to endure such loneliness again.

A hundred years later, the black dragon descends on the East Ocean. Waves churn and clouds roil. It defeats the monsters and rids the world of evil. After months of storms, the dust finally starts to settle.

All living beings bow down to this king’s authority, in awe of its power, and clamour to pay their respects.

But there are some who set a barrier at the East Border, trapping the dragon and preventing it from returning to the sky. 

Unfortunately the brave have grown old, and the precious swords do not leave their sheathes. The barrier remains.

From here on a deity lives in this world.

Under the vastness of the sky, above the immensity of the earth, a deity lives in this space. Its appearance differs from that of humans.

In a bottomless abyss this deity settles, traversing across the ends and beginnings of all beings, experiencing the endless processes of time, guarding the boundless world humans live in.

Stars in the heavens transform; vast seas turn into farm land. Perhaps a stray traveller espies a corner of it, but in the mountains time flies, and all this becomes only legend.

There are believers who build temples and altars, praying day and night for a trace of proof of the deity’s existence. The prayer reads: Keep my family safe, let the days and months always be bright, let the four seasons turn like they always do, let the wind and rain be distributed evenly, and let the yearly crops be plentiful.

STORY

cassia was born in a tightly knit family of witches in baton rouge, louisiana.

as a child, she wasn’t as skilled a witch as her siblings which led her parents to believe she might be a siphoner. 

their fears were proven correct when cassie was around eight or nine and she accidentally siphoned magic from her eldest brother during a fight. 

there was a coven meeting shortly after during which pretty much everyone present, including cassia’s family, decided that the girl was a threat and needed to be dealt with. 

her paternal grandmother stepped in and decided to take responsibility for the siphoner, stating that she would make sure her granddaughter would never set foot in louisiana ever again. 

that’s how cassie ended up spending a significant portion of her late childhood and teenage years at the old woman’s residence in wildemount. 

the only person with whom she kept in contact with was her younger sister, hermione. 

the old woman’s interest in her granddaughter was purely scientifical. esther wanted to learn as much as possible about siphoners and whether or not they could be fixed. 

when her research didn’t come to the conclusion that she wanted, esther’s interest in cassia dwindled to the point where she no longer acknowledged her granddaughter’s presence around the house. 

cassie was pretty much left alone to do whatever she wanted. so, she decided to do more research on her ‘condition’ as well. the more she read the more unfair things looked and the more bitter she became about not being a full witch. the worst part: she didn’t get a familiar. 

sometime during her childhood cassia met matteo allen, a human, and he became one of her very few friends. 

since she pretty much raised herself, cass became a problematic child: she was always at parties, hanging out with the wrong people, doing all the wrong things. you name it, she’s done it. 

her favorite hobby was, and still is, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. the poor in this case being her and her friends. 

after graduating high school she went on the road for a while, travelled throughout the uk. she’s been living life pretty lowkey since, going back and forth between home base in wildemount and wherever in the world she wanted to visit. 

the one thing esther never kept from cassia was money. 

a couple years ago she had a fling with matteo which resulted in an unexpected pregnancy. 

cassia broke the promise her grandmother made to the coven when she heard news about her younger sister’s death. she packed up her things in a rush and went back to baton rouge to attend the funeral. she also left things uresolved with matteo. 

everyone in the coven looked down on her but she couldn’t care less. minnie was, as far as cass was concerned, her only family and someone had taken her away. 

at the memorial service, which was held at her aunt’s home, cassia had an argument with her father which led her to siphon enough magic from her surroundings to burn the house down. 

she’s never been able to do anything like it neither before nor after the incident (not for lack of trying). 

she left baton rouge soon after and spent a few months travelling around louisiana, searching for who killed her sister. she halted her search when she found out about the pregnancy, afraid of causing any harm to the baby. 

cass moved back to wildemount when jazz was one and has been lowkey hiding her ever since because she wasn’t sure whether or not to tell the father. she’s still deciding. 

before finding out she was pregnant, cass had been looking into ways of becoming either a full witch or, more likely, a heretic. 

ever since jazz came along, cassia became more responsible. she quit drinking, drugs, got a second job and gave up on the idea of becoming a heretic. she still has some nasty habits that she’s trying to shake but so far she’s happy with just hiding them from jazz. 

she still hopes to everything that he daughter won’t be a siphon as well. not that she would love her any less, or send her away, but she doesn’t want a stigma on her baby girl the same way she’s got it. 

she’s scared as hell of the veils and is standing as far away from them as possible. she even considered moving away from wildemount but hasn’t yet because of the whole matteo situation. 

MISCELLANEOUS 

she currently works as a waitress mondays to fridays and on the weekends she designs tattoos at the local parlor. 

loves drawing, painting and music. 

will randomly start singing or dancing no matter where she is. usually it’s lowkey but still. 

runs like hell from any romantic relationship. even if she lowkey wants one. 

since she’s so distant and guarded, she’s got very few friends. but the ones she has, she cherishes deeply because if they stuck around it means they accept her the way she is.

-Now that the baby demogorgons have gotten walking down, they learned how to run and run FAST. The two basset hound-like ones bore the names of Rook and Gambit (who so happened to be the one who annoyed Griffon), while the remaining three were Knight, Cavallo, and Cassia (the latter being the one adopted by a motherly Shadow).

And it was soon time to start allowing these little babies of his to hunt; now that they could run, it was time to teach them to use their abilities against suitable prey, as well as how to hunt in a pack… hopefully all those canine meals had also instilled the hunting instincts of a dog.

Stretch decided to adopt a German Pinscher named Reaper. Blue has no pet at this current point in time.
