I love this picture because you can see the silhouette of Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout from behind Carthay Circle. I took this on a very foggy morning. Disney IG: kadieinwonderland ∞

Charlie and Paulette attend Hollywood premiere of “Gone With The Wind” Fox’s Carthay Circle Theater December 28th 1939.
Paulette Goddard screen tested as did practically every actress in Hollywood for the coveted role of Scarlet.
Charlie was in the middle of production of “The Great Dictator” hence the dark hair.

the papas and the ghoulettes/ghouls at disneyland
nihil - grumpy old shit that his sons deposit on a bench on main street and abandon for the day. complains loudly to no one how he wishes seestor was there (she refused to come). somehow manages to end up with an enormous waffle cone and makes a kid cry.
primo - loves, loves, loves the people watching. is content to sit on a bench of his own (far, far away from nihil) soaking in the vibes. spends the rest of the day ambling around the park appreciating the variety of plants that are on display. loves the fantasyland dark rides.
secondo - loves the thrill rides in both parks but is especially fond of space mountain. wears a simple pair of black mickey ears all day and commands quite a presence at the carthay circle bar in california adventure (he loves good liquor and a good meal). has several tourists coming up to him for pictures because they mistake him for pitbull.
terzo - adores the energy of the place and like primo, loves to people watch. charms his way into club 33 and texts ridiculous and smug pictures of himself hanging out there to an outraged secondo all day. flirts heavily with the princesses in the most over the top romantic displays. can frequently be found vibing in the enchanted tiki room.
copia - this man is riding haunted mansion on repeat and loving every second of it. loves a good dole whip or a churro (anything sweet really) and will always laugh outrageously at all the skipper’s jokes on jungle cruise. manages to make multiple babies smile and laugh throughout the day, to the utter delight of their families. cries at the fireworks, always.
cumulus - she loves fantasyland - the dark rides, the music, the fairy tale vibes. can commonly be found riding the carousel looking stunning and singing along with the songs. cries openly at it’s a small world while dew and sunshine laugh affectionately. like copia, has a sweet tooth and will never say no to cotton candy. insists on the pack staying to watch the fireworks every night.
cirrus - easily the coolest person in the park, always at cumulus’ side. loves tomorrowland and galaxy’s edge - anything with a space theme really makes her smile. compiles a professional team to conquer smuggler’s run made up of mountain, rain, sunshine, and herself. will sip happily on a blue milk and definitely ends up buying a lightsaber.
sunshine - this girl is a toontown girl!! she loves the fun architecture and delights in meeting the characters (collects autographs too). she and swiss could ride runaway railway all day and the two of them love to annoy their fellow pack members by singing the song from the ride on repeat. will fucking demolish several tigger tails and spends the rest of the evening complaining about her upset tummy.
aurora - the pack princess? you know she’s hunting down her fellow princesses throughout the park - when she finds the other princess aurora she’s beside herself with glee and insists swiss and aether act as her personal photographers. her favorite ride is soarin’ and will absolutely be the kind of person to swing her legs while she’s flying through the air.
swiss - this ghoul insists on the pack all getting classic mickey ears with their names stitched on them and makes mountain take several group selfies with them all wearing them. incredibly competitive (and good) at the carnival games on pixar pier and passes out his stuffed animal trophies to the crowd of kids that comes to watch him.
dewdrop - like copia is a huge fan of the haunted mansion. will ride with a different pack member every time and point out different goofy ghosts while telling them “that’s you”. he learns how to play grim grinning ghosts on his guitar when they get home which delights phantom to no end. loves a good candy apple. will spin the teacup so hard on mad tea party with sunshine they makes phantom puke.
rain - he loves pirates of the caribbean, loves the damp air and the darkness and will happily ride it all afternoon. most likely to make friends with random cast members throughout the park which baffles mountain who asks “how do they all know you?” is a fun little beverage connoisseur but his favorite is the non alcoholic mint juleps they serve in new orleans square.
mountain - wears the oswald ears to make himself look even taller and can frequently be found looming over children and smiling benevolently at them. is the first to offer aurora a piggy back ride when her cute impractical shoes hurt her. loves grizzly river run and the entire grizzly peak area of california adventure (redwoods enjoy redwoods, naturally). his favorite ride is guardians of the galaxy: mission breakout.
aether - the organizer of the pack he has absolutely considered getting those leash backpacks for several of them. big man loves indiana jones and the temple of the forbidden eye and definitely ends up buying an indiana jones fedora. his favorite ride though is big thunder mountain and will always insist on sitting in the back (the best seats, naturally).
phantom - yet another haunted mansion super fan and gleefully drags aurora and dew into the shops to buy all the merch. loves his jack skellington mickey ears and the little magnetic zero he got to sit on his shoulder at all times. like sunshine, collects character autographs in a book and his favorites are dr. facilier and cinderella. gets really into pin collecting and trading.

What do you specifically usually do at disneyland, like do you go for the same rides or switch it up or just go for the shops/atmosphere? I am so curious what people with passes do each time haha
Oh Anon. ANON. I don’t think you understand JUST how much you’ve delighted me with this ask. This will be long, but you asked and I must answer thoroughly lol!
OKAY. SO. I am a not a big shop person when I get to Disneyland/DCA (Disney’s California Adventure) bc time is of the essence there. If something catches my eye or I just need something for the trip, then sure. But mostly I’m there for the attractions and the food. Maybe the food more at this point and using walking to the attractions as justification for all the food bc all of the calories I burn 😂 I mostly try to hit my favorite attractions but depending on how busy it is, I may do more, I may do less. I may throw in some things I don’t usually do if it’s slow enough just to be a completionist, lol. Food is where I TRY to switch it up just bc there are so many great options, but even that’s hard bc some places are just TOO good and menus change regularly so there’s always something new to try even at places you’ve been before.
Attractions:
In all seriousness, I really am constantly delighted by the attractions. Ive seen some of them a million times but it’s genuinely equally delightful to me every time. It’s a mix of nostalgia and awe for me bc Disneyland really does create a fully immersive experience in their rides but also in each land (especially Galaxy’s Edge; legit feels like being in a Star Wars film). So I love seeing those things over and over again bc there is always something new to notice. They update things pretty regularly so while it’s the same it doesn’t stay exactly the same forever. Plus they’re in the midst of rebuilding some stuff right now. They just opened the remodeled toon town with new rides and some refurbished ones and it looks great. Next year Tiana is getting her own area where splash mountain used to be which I am THRILLED for. So yeah. PLUS depending on time of year, rides change slightly (like haunted mansion during Halloween time turns to Nightmare Before Christmas), so that’s always fun.
A trip to Disney for me is not complete without having gotten on the following:
Disney side:
Indiana Jones
Pirates
Space Mountain
Haunted Mansion
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Rise of the Resistance
Star Tours
Honorable mention to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Roger Rabbit, Big Thunder Mountain, and Peter Pan.
DCA Side:
Radiator Springs
Monster’s Inc
Soarin’
Webslingers
Little Mermaid
Honorable mention to Toy Story. I actually love that ride but that wait is always crazy long and there’s not single rider option (great tip if you wanna get on things fast, even with a group; some rides are worth riding together and some are worth just having the experience, so just hop in the single rider line and be done in 20-30 or less instead of 45+)
Now for food. That is the even bigger delight of Disneyland, and honestly, it’s DCA with the best food. They also serve alcohol on that side and are not shy with it, lol. But there is INCREDIBLE culinary throughout both parks, but DCA? Outstanding. And not just “good for theme park food,” just straight up amazing food period. The quick service food places are fine, but the restaurants are where you get the real amazing dining experiences. Carthay Circle is by far the best food I’ve had, there’s also a winery that’s very good, and pass holders get access to a terrace restaurant that is amazing. Lamplight lounge and Boardwalk Bar are also very delicious.
On the Disney side, Carnation Cafe and Cafe Orleans are incredible. Absolutely incredible. There’s pretty good food elsewhere but a lot of it is quick service, so you won’t get too much that is just mind blowing. You can also dine at the hotel restaurants which are also pretty amazing from what I hear.
Lastly, there are some cool parades and shows that I don’t mind seeing, especially if it’s one I haven’t seen before. Fantasmic is always great and it’s cool to see how it’s updated over the years. They also do shows at night in front of the castle which is always very pretty. DCA has world of color which is gorgeous, and they JUST started doing a full Rogers: The Musical show which I haven’t seen but am dying too bc I heard it’s hilarious but also kinda great?
DCA’s also good for different events like the food and wine festival or Lunar New Year. They decorate the park, they have food vendors specific to the event, and offer special food items at their food locations around the park based on the event, and even have parades or celebrations around them. This year was my first time experiencing lunar new year there and I was blown away. They also do something called Disney after dark where they’ll shut down the park early and have events for those who bought tickets to it. I’m going to one of the most popular ones this year called Oogie boogie bash. VERY excited to see what that’s all about, and special food or merch they’ll have, etc.
So yeah. There really is soooo much to explore at both parks and having a pass allows that. Bc you can’t do it on one trip. And with how much tickets for a day cost, a pass actually starts to pay for itself after the 2nd or 3rd trip. Plus discounts and parking perks.
I know that was a lot LOL! And that’s not even including all the things you can do and eat at Downtown Disney, lol! But again, a ton to do, so having a pass gives you time to do as much of it as you can without having to pay so much every time. If you go and ever need suggestions, hit me up! 😊

Carthay Circle
At 59 bucks a pop, sitting in the illustrious dining room of Carthay Circle seems like a Disney dream. To be served a 2 course meal is always a treat, especially when it’s shared with family, but that sweet can turn sour in a matter of seconds after putting a bite of their main course in your mouth. I went to enjoy the tasty treats of Carthay Circle’s lunch menu during Disney’s Holiday of Food Festival with my family as a birthday celebration, something I had been looking forward to in the months before. I sat with my mother, ogling at the combinations of flavors one only sees at a fine establishment, such as blue cheese and pecans (the most regal of flavor profiles), salivating over promises of dates and tangerine vinaigrettes but when the time came for the restaurant to provide I was left
 dissatisfied.
Let’s start with the positives, shall we? For the appetizer I shared the Fresh Green Falafel Fritters, knowing I would enjoy them given I had tried them on a previous visit to their lounge, and the Harvest Squash Bisque. Both were perfectly delicious. The falafel was savory and almost tart in the spicy roasted pepper-lemon yogurt and the bisque had a wonderful sweetness to it due to the dried cranberries and maple cream. The falafel didn’t hinder my appetite for the main course despite my worries that it might be too substantial and the bisque had a nice harmony of sweet and savory with the addition of the rice. They both were fine ways to start a meal and kept my hopes as high as they had been. Then came lunch.
Never in my life have I been impressed by a shrimp and that day did not change matters. They were overcooked and under seasoned in the Pan Roasted Shrimp basted with Calabrian Chili dish. Never once did chili ever even cross my mind as I took my reluctant bites off my mothers plate. The shrimp is paired with a cauliflower couscous that is completely overrun by what are apparently almonds. Cauliflower couscous is certainly not a robust enough side to have when dealing with the supposedly strong flavors of a tangerine vinaigrette and a chili baste. Every bite I took felt like mush, the cauliflower having no push back when pressed against your tongue, only if mush was also jam packed with all the almonds you could eat in the span of a year.
My own order was the Angus Beef Tri-tip marinated with Ginger and Soy Glazed. It tasted similar to what I imagine a small child would create when given the chance to work in the kitchen. Sweet in an incomprehensible way, cheap, and strangely bland. They had no faith in their glaze and drowned the meat in a sweet and tangy sauce that completely ruined the beauty of their perfectly cooked tri-tip. On the side was a salad-like mess of soba noodles mixed with out of season tangerine and surprisingly crisp bits of arugula. It was cold, as was promised, but after eating the sad excuse of Angus tri-tip it just felt like an icy punch to the palate. I left the restaurant feeling not only under-fed but under-whelmed and frankly upset with the experience I had been given.
The service on the other hand was simply wonderful. Unfortunately I forgot to catch the waitresses name but she was kind enough to bring that Disney magic to the table. She asked where everyone was from, happily answered all of our questions, and even laughed at a few terrible Christmas jokes we were throwing around. Why doesn’t Santa go to the hospital? He has private elf-care. All credit goes to my aunt who found that gem. The two times I’ve gone to Carthay Circle I have felt like I was a welcome guest and certainly would encourage people to go to the lounge if only for the hospitality and the appetizers. ⅖ Stars.
