i want to tell the guy from work who nicknamed me “spirit” that it makes my day when he calls me that. i want to tell sam that i miss her and halley that i understand them. i want to tell carson that i see them a lot even though i know they aren’t here anymore. i want to tell my dad to listen to me and i want to tell my brother to be more careful with his heart. i want to tell my friends how much i love them and i want to tell arden thank you for asking me questions. i want to tell ral how far back we go but i know he knows more about all this than i do. i want to tell my coworker that he is kinder than he thinks and he doesn’t have to be something he isn’t. i want to tell my friend that it’s okay to cry and my nieces how special they are. i want to tell my friends on their journeys how much i help them behind the scenes but it’s kinda more fun to keep it a secret and to act surprised when the magic happens. i want to tell the drunk guy from the other day that i loved the stories about their grandma and that she is very proud of him now and beaming that down from wherever she is. i want to tell mike that i need him even though maybe i don’t and i want to tell sammy to come back even if there’s nothing important to tell me because i miss our nighttime visits in the diner. i want to tell rafael that it means a lot when he remembers details about me, like my food preferences and my birthday. i want tiff to know that it meant a lot to me when she felt comfortable crying in front of me and that she tells stories like the best character in a movie. i want to tell m that i think about her every day and i’m so happy that she chose to do what she loves over what she thinks is practical. i want to tell rachel that she touched parts of me that have never seen the light of day. i want to tell myself i’m gonna be okay :)

Rich & Carson Halley – The Wild (Pine Eagle)
As in any idiom, familial bonds in improvised music can serve as sources of singular and resilient creative capital. The phenomenon is particularly potent in the case of father and son collaborations. Ornette and Denardo Coleman, Joe and Mat Maneri, Von and Chico Freeman – these are just a few of the filial tandems whose work together continues to stand the test of time. While less famous that the aforementioned dyads, Rich and Carson Halley arguably belong among their esteemed number as well. The two have been playing together in both ensemble and duo contexts for nearly twenty years. The Wild is their first commercial foray in the latter format, but it represents countless encounters logged over that time period.
Both Halleys contribute brief explanatory essays to contextualize the proceedings. Carson explicates a short list of more felt than head influences that includes Rage Against the Machine, Elliot Smith and Hank Williams, Jr. Rich turns his attention to elucidating the intuitive and conversational dynamics he shares with his son. The music is entirely improvised and parsed into ten discrete pieces with titles affixed afterward. The elder Halley likens their interplay to spontaneous storytelling and the pair adopts a casual and causal approach to narrative building with diversity of sound and interaction taking on paramount importance.
“Wild Lands” burst forth as a frothing, fulminating invocation as Carson drops bombs around his father’s buffeting variations, a framework revisited in spirit on the fleet-paced “Cursorial”. “The Old Ways” weds wood flute to protean percussion in a manner that echoes Native American musical argot without being explicit. Across all three pieces the degree of deep listening between the players is almost audible as lines overlap and diverge with symmetry that suggests kin-derived intuition as much as it does the countless hours involved in translating the consanguinity into musical terms.
“Progenitor” finds Rich sounding uncannily like the loft-era firebrand Frank Lowe in its opening minutes, working over a bluesy progression as Carson bustles and bristles beside him. “Flat Plane of the Sky” mixes breathy, bottom-of-the-bell horn striations with supple and starkly-deployed brush play. “The Stroll” brings the funk as Carson leans heavy into a sauntering backbeat and Rich runs down a snaking, slippery lead that wouldn’t be entirely out of place in a hot afternoon Second Line street processional. Tenor and drums testing and teasing with swagger to spare.
Carson comes hard for “The Recon” while Rich eases back, blowing blowsy, rounded phrases that contrast with the sharply-delineated metrics coming from his son’s corner. In each setting the communication comes across as naturalistic and artifice-absent, credit to both the Halley’s familiarity and comfort in testing one another’s expertise. A third Halley, Betty, Rich’s spouse and Carson’s mother, receives a shout out on the album sleeve making what was already a family affair even more of a cottage engagement.

I like og Sentai Carranger over Turbo Power Ranger, Dapp rocks!
Plot: A new team of Teens race in when Automage Prandal charges his Zord models with pieces of the Zeo Crystals after virtually escaping Rygog’s Intergalactic Highway (IGH) in the ruins of Valan-8 with Billy and Alpha on COSMOBUG. Working in Tommy’s uncle’s garage, he—along with TJ, Carlos, Ashley and Cassie— buckle up and gear out as the Turbo Power Rangers!
Meanwhile Justin, bright and quick-footed freshman of Angel Grove, discovers his garage pals are Power Rangers, swearing secrecy by supporting the Rangers w/Billy, Alpha and Prandal, solving whatever chaos caused by Rygog’s Cosmic Duster gang they wreaked on Angel Grove.
Note: I’m sprinkling some plot points from the Turbo PR Movie n elements of Carranger into my origin story for the Turbo Power Rangers shud there b a future BOOM comic adaptation of this season
Expectations from BOOMs Turbo adaptation:
There will be hard subjects to tackle in the story, particularly Prandal’s Survivor Guilt
The OG MMPR/Zeo Teams are in college or proactive in other paths, but may b called in for Ranger duties at a pivotal point
Bulk and Skull got Stone back on the force, but now work the detective beats, but every crime scene they’re always bumping into the MOTD, Porto, Elgar, Piranhatrons and Octons*, even Rangers
Lookout for past foot soldiers/MOTDs frequenting Halley’s, IGHs space bar, along with club dancer Radiel, Rygog’s gf
Manic Mechanic’s hacking Alpha-5’s systems reprograms his speech to “gangsta talk” (yo-yo-yo!)

Weighing just 5 kilograms, the loaf-of-bread-sized spacecraft, known as a CubeSat, is scheduled to lift off on 22 June 2019 aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Once in space, LightSail 2 will deploy a boxing ring-sized solar sail and attempt to raise its orbit using the gentle push from solar photons.
It's the culmination of a 10-year project with an origin story linked to the 3 scientist-engineers who founded The Planetary Society in 1980.
"Forty years ago, my professor Carl Sagan shared his dream of using solar sail spacecraft to explore the cosmos. The Planetary Society is realizing the dream," said Planetary Society CEO Bill Nye. "Thousands of people from all over the world came together and supported this mission. We couldn't have done it without them. Carl Sagan, and his colleagues Bruce Murray and Louis Friedman, created our organization to empower people everywhere to advance space science and exploration. We are go for launch!"
If successful, LightSail 2 will become the first spacecraft to raise its orbit around the Earth using sunlight. While light has no mass, it has momentum that can be transferred to other objects. A solar sail harnesses this momentum for propulsion. LightSail 2 will demonstrate the application of solar sailing for CubeSats, small, standardized spacecraft that have made spaceflight more affordable for academics, government organizations, and private institutions.
LightSail 2 will ride to space aboard the Department of Defense's Space Test Program-2 (STP-2) mission scheduled for launch on 22 June 2019, which will send 24 spacecraft to 3 different orbits. LightSail 2 itself will be enclosed within Prox-1, a Georgia Tech-designed spacecraft originally built to demonstrate close-encounter operations with other spacecraft. Prox-1 will deploy LightSail 27 days after launch.
After a few days of health and status checks, LightSail 2's 4 dual-sided solar panels will swing open. Roughly a day later, 4 metallic booms will unfurl 4 triangular Mylar sails from storage. The sails, which have a combined area of 32 square meters, will turn towards the Sun for half of each orbit, giving the spacecraft a tiny push no stronger than the weight of a paperclip. For about a month after sail deployment, this continual thrust should raise LightSail 2's orbit by a measurable amount.
The Planetary Society launched a nearly identical spacecraft called LightSail 1 in 2015 that successfully tested the spacecraft's sail deployment system. LightSail 2 will fly to an orbit 720 kilometers high, where the acceleration from sunlight overcomes atmospheric drag. The spacecraft may be visible in the night sky for a year to observers within 42 degrees of the equator, which includes the U.S. as far north as Chicago and New York.
The Society launched a larger sail named Cosmos 1 in 2005 that did not reach orbit after a failure of the spacecraft's Russian-built rocket. Planetary Society co-founder Louis Friedman led a 1970s NASA solar sail study that would have sent a spacecraft to rendezvous with Halley's Comet. Fellow Society co-founder Carl Sagan showed off a model of the spacecraft on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1976.
Results from the LightSail 2 mission are already helping to inform future solar sail projects by other organizations. NASA’s NEA Scout spacecraft will launch to the Moon aboard the first Space Launch System flight and use a solar sail to visit a near-Earth asteroid. The Planetary Society shares LightSail project data with NASA through a Space Act Agreement.
The LightSail project started in 2009. The spacecraft was built by Stellar Exploration, Inc. The lead contractor for integration and testing is Ecliptic Enterprises Corporation, with testing, storage and ground support provided by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Planetary Society Chief Scientist Bruce Betts serves as the LightSail program manager. The project manager and mission manager is Purdue University's David Spencer.

Hey! I was wondering if their were any short-ish sciencey names that are gender neutral? thank ya!
Definitely! Try these:
Altair (one of the brightest stars)
Arbor
Azure
Bay
Bell (Alexander Graham Bell)
Blaise (Blaise Pascal)
Carson (Rachel Carson, sounds neutral to me but apparently it’s used very frequently for boys so take that in mind)
Cobalt
Comet
Eon
Faraday (Michael Faraday)
Forest
Francis (Francis Bacon)
Gale
Gray (a unit of radiation)
Halley
Isidore (patron saint of scientists)
Ion
Kepler (Johannes Kepler)
Kuiper
Logan (Myra Logan was the first woman to perform open heart surgery)
Lux / Lumen (means “light”)
Max (Max Planck)
Merle
Newton
Nikola (Nikola Tesla)

Vega (one of the brightest stars)
I tried to go with a mix of nature, space, and famous scientists or other science applications. You can also check out the nature tag and Wikipedia’s list of Nobel laureates for some other famous scientists.
I’m not sure if these are sciencey enough, so feel free to send in another ask if you’d like more names or if there’s a specific field or feel you are interested in!

Rich Halley 3 – The Literature (Pine Eagle)
Cover art to The Literature, Oregon-based tenorist Rich Halley’s latest recorded salvo and his twenty-first album by personal count, contains a big tell as to how the project breaks notably with its populous predecessors. Mouthpiece, neck, reeds and brushes rest atop a vinyl copy A-side of Bird Symbols released on Charlie Parker Records back in 1961. Halley’s ample discography is practically bursting with original compositions and settings for collective improvisation. Bird doesn’t show up directly in the program of twelve tunes recorded at Jackpot Studio in Portland last summer are all covers, and an eclectic array at that, chosen and sequenced to reflect and refract Halley’s diverse cosmology of influences as a player.
Son Carson is present on drums and confrere Clyde Reed handles bass, bringing a highly pleasing and rounded, booming sound with him. Both men have been a regular part of Halley’s musical adventures for years. Their relaxed rapport results in both the freedom and security of knowing that the technical side is reliably shored up and the focus can remain on placing creative spins on the songs. Bop vehicles like the brash, bumptious rendering of “Little Willie Leaps” and a pair of savvy, serpentine Monk borrowings (“Misterioso” and “Brilliant Corners”) register with delegates from the less-fettered end of the jazz spectrum. The urban swagger of Ornette’s “Broad Way Blues” and a soulful, set-capping “Law Years” bring the goods on the latter score along with a surprise sally through Sun Ra’s “Kingdom of Not” replete with rhythmic hand claps.
Country and Western music was a daily part of Halley’s listening intake decades ago when he worked on Pacific Northwest DNR crew and the abiding affection he holds for the genre echoes in the picks of Jimmy Rodgers’ “High Powered Mama” and the Roy Acuff original “Someday You’ll Call My Name.” Each translates to jazz instrumentation just fine as does the march-minded Carter Family interpretation of “Motherless Children.” The three musicians even find room for Ellington’s “Mood Indigo,” one of the few dialed down performances on the date and made all the better for it to hear Halley blow a breathy balladic blues. Listeners familiar with tenorist who have caught themselves pondering what the fiercely independent and original improviser might do with a songbook other than his own now have a proper, definitive answer and one than makes for an excellent aural read.

Halley x Jonah: CHILDREN
@stardustxsoul
Name: Isaac Jonah Gray Age: 17 Gender: Male General appearance: As a child anyone would have assumed Isaac would grow up to look just like hisf father but as he grew it quickly became apparent that he looked far more like his mother Halley. Isaac is tall, muscular from playing football for most of his life, with brown hair and brown eyes like his mother. Personality: Isaac may look like his mother but he is the spitting image of Jonah in personality. Always a different girl on his arm, Isaac has developed quite the reputation for being a player. He is competitive, hot headed and rarely ever thinks about the consequences of his action. Occupation: High school senior Face Claim: KJ Apa
Name: Carson Malcolm Grey Age: 15 Gender: Male General appearance: Unlike his older brother it was clear from day one that Carson was Jonah's son. Same eyes, same face, same manerisms. Williamstown, MA (July 23, 2018) – Williamstown Theatre Festival (Mandy Greenfield, Artistic Director) announces the second Main Stage production of the 2018 season, the world premiere musical Lempicka, which opened Saturday, July 21st and runs through Wednesday, August 1st.
Featuring Tony nominee Carmen Cusack and Eden Espinosa, this world premiere musical is directed by Tony nominee Rachel Chavkin, with book and lyrics by Carson Kreitzer and music by Matt Gould. Fleeing the Russian revolution and leaving behind a world of opulence and wealth, aristocrat Tamara de Lempicka (Espinosa) and her beloved husband Tadeusz (Andrew Samonsky) are forced to make a new life. In the rising tide of fascism, Tamara takes to painting to survive, and when she meets the free-spirited Rafaela (Cusack), a prostitute on the fringes of Parisian society, she’s torn between the life she cherishes with her husband and the passion, ambition, and possibility awoken in her by her new muse. Inspired by the life of the artist who transformed herself from penniless refugee to star of the art world when the world itself teetered on chaos, Lempicka looks at the beauty and danger of one painter pursuing it all.
