National Wig Out Day
People are encouraged to wear whatever type of hair they'd like today. Different styles and different colors—it's all possible by picking out the right wig. National Wig Out Day was created in 2006 by sisters Kate and Alice Clark, who convinced residents in their city of Bellingham, Washington, to wear wigs to their jobs on the day of the inaugural celebration. At the end of the day, wig-wearing celebrants gathered downtown for a party. The day caught on and National Wig Out Day spread across the country.
Wigs are made of human hair, animal hair, or synthetic fiber. Some people wear them on a regular basis because of their convenience, since they can be styled ahead of time. They are also worn by those who have hair loss, including those who have lost hair on account of medical issues, such as cancer patients who are going through chemotherapy. Celebrities have been known to wear wigs and popularize them. Wigs are worn at costume or fancy dress parties and are common during Halloween. Some judges, barristers, and other civic or municipal officials in some parts of the world wear wigs. Actors in theater, film, and television also regularly wear wigs.
Wigs date back to ancient Egypt, where they were worn by people who had cut their hair short. Kept in place with beeswax and resin, the wigs protected their wearers from the sun. Egyptians weren't the only ancient peoples to wear wigs; so did Phoenicians, Assyrians, Romans, Greeks, and Jews in ancient Israel. Sometime later they were worn in China, Japan, and Korea.
After the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the fourth and fifth centuries, wigs weren't used in the West until the sixteenth century. At that time, they were used much as they are today: to improve appearance or cover up hair loss. They also helped to prevent head lice. English royals began wearing wigs in the early seventeenth century. Later in the century, perukes or periwigs—wigs that were at least shoulder-length—came in vogue. These tended to be expensive and elaborate and were worn by those of higher social rank.
In the eighteenth century, men's wigs were powdered so they looked white or off-white, and were worn for important social occasions. Women tended to not wear wigs. Wigs became smaller, and some became associated with certain professions, being worn by judges and bishops. By the end of the century, wigs were largely only common with older, conservative men, and with ladies presented at court.
Early in the nineteenth century, following the emergence of the United States and a new France, the wearing of wigs as a symbol or social status was largely jettisoned. In general, wigs were not prominent or fashionable in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The development of affordable, synthetic wigs made of modacrylic fiber in the 1960s paved the way for a resurgence of wigs, and ultimately, for a holiday like National Wig Out Day to come about.
How to Observe National Wig Out Day
Celebrate by wearing a wig! Any style or color will do! If you have to go to work today, make sure to wear it there. Afterward, gather with your friends and have a party. Perhaps you could party downtown, just like the organizers of the first National Wig Out Day did.

When I set out to create this Performance I did not think about Emma Sulkowicz, the Columbia University student who carried a mattress around campus to protest her rape in 2012.
Nor did I consider the stories experienced by a friend who worked for a Publisher who was seduced by a woman she called mattress for all of the hijinks gotten into.
However, as happens, an idea can align, and this one has done so - and it resonates deeply.
MAKE YUH BED is literal, figurative and symbolic all at once. So you make your bed, so you shall lie...The Baby Doll (Babi Doll) struts up and down with her child in hand. She is asking for maintenance.
I confront Babi Doll's antics head on with this Performance.
Your bed is a major emotional space. A huge portion of your life is had there.
Babi Doll males 'her' bed. She lies on her mattress. It is a canvas for her sexuality - it begins in innocence...you are blanketted, cuddled....you may have had many accidents in it. Urine, blood, tears and sweat.
It is a place for sensual exploration and intercourse. It is your sleep, your health and eventually your death.
Make Yuh Bed discusses the relationship of Babi Doll with her sexuality. She puts her sheet on, she struggles, she embraces it. She lies upon it. It may bring a moment of solice. It may be a reminder to constant pain and regret.
The pain. pleasure principle.
MAKE YUH BED.

Basically a rest day for me though because there's just no way I could write everything in one shot. (/@ ~@)/~* I've tried and it ends with me updating around 3AM or sum.
Follower Fridays: Requests from followers are posted. If you have a story request or anything you want to ask go ahead and do so on this day. Just make sure you send them in early so I can get to it in time. If you send something the day of I might be able to make it happen.
Sexy Saturdays: Send me your best Saturday night requests: ie dancing, funny adventures, or crazy antis with the one-piece crew or another fandom. I'm very familiar with Naruto and MHA (and any other anime honestly I doubt there's anything you could request that I don't know.)

As always your requests are welcomed and comments are very much appreciated. Sorry again for being gone for so long. I want to pick up my serious especially and make the chapters juicy again.
I also have a spring tee shop for merch related to all the stories!!

Tags: Alternate Universe - No Upside Down (Stranger Things), Carnival, Rodeo Competitions, Fake/Pretend Relationship, Period-Typical Homophobia
Summary:
This is Eddie's summer. He's got his own booth. Wayne's letting him run a real booth. Not filling in, not picking up the shitty shifts for this jointy or that, not running a kiddy ride. An actual, factual, single-front midway amusement, and it’s all his. Well, on paper it’s still Wayne’s. But this time, she’s in Eddie’s hands. And it’s— his booth! His!— even actually a pretty good one. To the unenlightened townie, balloon darts may seem like a simple, even a childish pursuit, but Eddie maintains that there is an art to even the most straightforward pleasures. There's a science to it. Physics. Like every game, it can be rigged, but even played straight, it's an earner. He's going to finish out the summer with more money than he started with, for once. Especially if everyone in Nowheresville, Indiana is as juicy a mark as the handsome, fancy-haired guy who's bellied up to his counter.

Summary:
Clearly he has some sort of secret admirer, and it feels like high school, when girls would slip unsigned notes into his locker but inevitably reveal themselves when they ran out of patience or realized he wasn’t actively looking for whoever left the note. But this person, they’ve waited a month—and they still give no indication as to who they are. It makes Steve want to know.
Thanks for the rec!

event: Emergency Services Carnival
location: Town Hall & Cityview Park
date & time: June 29 - July 6, 2024
ooc duration: same dates!
Once a year, we throw a carnival in town to raise money for our emergency services, so the next time that you dial 911 due to a medical emergency or a fire breaking out, or a cat stuck in a tree (it happens, we know), the best of the best has the resources that they need to get out and help you to the best of their ability.
Located downtown, in the vicinity of the Cityview Park and Town Hall, a main stretch of road has been closed and the street cleared so that tents and trucks can set up for the week, happy to provide you with eats and treats! You can spend time enjoying the park, or go 'touch a truck' and meet the ambulance workers and firefighters of Merrock as they show off their stations, as well.
For food, you can expect all of the carnival staples: pizza, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, fresh cut French fries, a number of hot sandwiches, homemade soups, hot pretzels, nachos and cheese and so much more! If you want something dessert-y, reach for cotton candy, sno*cones, homemade ice cream and milkshakes, funnel cakes, churros and lots of candy sweets.
All of your favorite games are ready to go! There's the ring toss, where you can win a glass bottle of soda, the duck pond, balloon pop, frog pond, ball toss, lucky wheel and more! Great opportunity to win that special someone a prize. There are also a few rides set up for you to enjoy: the carousel, tilt-a-whirl and ferris wheel and mini-train are at your service! And before you head home, don't forget to pay to toss a few balls at the dunk tank, see if you can knock your favorite firefighter or EMT or other prominent town figure off their mark.
Performances for the week include: local band on Saturday, 80s cover band on Sunday, Unknown Destination on Monday, country band on Tuesday, classic rock band on Wednesday, local band on Thursday, Chetan Gupta on Friday, 90s and 00s cover band on Saturday.
On July 4th, at dusk, we will be having fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July!

As January comes to a close, I wanted to start sharing my NU: Carnival calendars... beginning with Blade! I plan to make one for each month of the year, themed around the corresponding birthday boy (with 2 options for November, since Garu/Karu and Aster are both in there).
I'm compiling them all on the Notion page linked below, which will include the following for each month:
A 2024 calendar (+ 2025 for January, once I get to it)
A blank calendar to write in the month/year/dates yourself
Both of the above, with the option to start your week on Sunday or Monday
A Canva template you can edit yourself, including ‘stickers’ to place on whatever dates you’d like
NU: Carnival Calendars
#nu carnival#nu: carnival#eiden is also in there right now because he was a fandomtrees gift aksjdkfj#but his is set for june bc birthday

Back in 2006, long before Australia fell in love with the Matildas, Lydia Williams was in mad rush to finish an evening team meeting in Canberra. She wolfed down dinner and then her and her teammates bolted out the door as quickly as possible.
The reason? To catch a Pink concert at the AIS Arena.
Almost two decades later, they’re both still going strong – and on Saturday night, Williams got to meet one of her musical idols backstage before her show in Melbourne, presenting her with a little piece of history.
Relenting to intense public pressure after Mackenzie Arnold’s shootout heroics at the Women’s World Cup, Nike is now selling Matildas’ goalkeeper jerseys – something it has never done before for an Australian team, male or female. Pink and her daughter, Willow, were the first in the world to get their hands on the retail version, which goes on sale on Tuesday.
“She grabbed it right away. She was like, ‘These are sick’,” Williams said.
There aren’t many more famous people in Australia at the moment than the Matildas – aside, of course, from touring musicians Taylor Swift and Pink. The former’s tour wraps up on Monday night, but the latter is still going strong; so strong that Pink is basically an honorary Australian, given how often she seems to be performing here. She has sold more than three million career tickets here and in New Zealand, and her current show – the Summer Carnival tour, which runs through to the end of March – will be seen by more than 900,000 people.
“She loves Australia, and she loves Australians,” Williams, 35, said. And supporting women’s sport, she’s a huge advocate. When she realised it was about the World Cup and the first release of the jerseys, her excitement and genuine curiosity ... she’s smiling big in the photo, so she’s definitely pumped about it.
“She’s like the Taylor Swift of our generation. If Pink had that level of social media back then she would be the equivalent to that.”
Nike is only selling the purple version of the jersey – not the black shirt Arnold actually wore during Australia’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over France in the quarter-final – but it’s a start.
England’s Mary Earps first put the issue on the table last year, saying it was “very hurtful” and an “injustice” that the apparel company didn’t produce goalkeeper jerseys for fans to buy, which she said stopped young people from aspiring to play in that position.
Williams, who was part of Australia’s World Cup squad as a back-up to Arnold, concurs.
“The amount of people who wanted to get a jersey was massive,” she said. “It’s so important for the visibility of females in sport and female goalkeepers. ‘Macca’ obviously had an amazing performance at the World Cup, and now for people who have her and myself and Teagan [Micah] and Jada [Whyman] as their heroes, it’s really exciting that they can have that opportunity.”
Williams will watch her teammates play the second leg of their Olympic qualifier against Uzbekistan on Wednesday night from the stands at Marvel Stadium, having recently undergone ankle surgery to give her a chance of making it to Paris 2024.
“Timing-wise, it wasn’t ideal, but if I had it later, it was even less ideal,” she said. “When you get over 30, it’s slow and steady wins the race. Hopefully, I’m not too far off now being able to join the team a little bit and be around the girls instead of being locked away in a pool or spa, in recovery mode.”

I used AI to cut together highlights from the various videos and IG Stories I was tagged in over the last week or so… 🤖
It’s been just about two weeks now since I sang on a truck on the road as part of iconic Soca Music Producer & Bandleader Carl “Beaver” Henderson’s all star Soca band, and as you’ll see from this Highlight Reel, a time was had! 🚙🔊🎭
Shout out to all the musicians in the band, technical crew on the truck, Kinetic Mas camp crew and of course the masqueraders who jumped and wined and danced and kept us feeling the love all day (and night) long on Carnival Monday & Tuesday. 🙏🏾
Fun fact: the mas band (Kinetic Mas) that we played on the road for wound up winning the title of Band Of The Year - Medium for 2024! 🏆
These two days of street partying were win/win for us all around. 🥇
