This fantastic ‘virgin’ pool was discovered in a New Mexico cave. It has never before been seen by human eyes.
A pristine, untouched pool has been discovered 700 feet (213 meters) below ground in Lechuguilla Cave, New Mexico, one of the world’s largest and most famous caves.
This uncontaminated site holds immense scientific value in a world where most natural environments are tainted by human pollution. Such a rare and untouched sample of nature provides a unique opportunity for scientific study and insight.

page 564 panel a - I sound so lame! The ideas are valid but my writing is so BORING.
I miss the good old days when I would write is that a bat? under an array of data lines that may or may not have looked like a bat. And maybe I would say something about the Lapp School of Economics use of the bat in their divination rituals, more animist than economist.

Hello, Carlsbad Caverns National Park! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Natural Entrance Trail-13 A view looking down and to the east while walking the path on the Natural Entrance Trail in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. My thinking in composing this image was to capture the look of the man-made walking path as it led into the depths of the cavern. All around would be the cliff wall and areas caught in reflected sunlight, but there would be that one “hole” leading into the darkness below.

Most of Carlsbad Caverns' speleothems (cave deposits such as these stalagmites) consist of the mineral calcite (CaCO3) that precipitates from groundwater that enters a cavern. Some speleothems are also composed of aragonite and gypsum. (USGS)
