Ninety-six minutes of that beautiful, talented man talking about his career is just such a joy (especially when I, too, am “a fuckin’ nerd” for this stuff).

Just watched the entire thing, some initial and random observations:

his incredible memory for productions that could be 25 or more years ago, and not just ones he was in, either.

his emphasis on the idea of always “starting from zero” with a role, which he frames a lot in educational and training terms - the idea of a lifelong learning process inherent in the craft.

the humbleness and respect for his peers and for the massive shows he had one-off gigs on

his repeated references to being in unions (yes I know he was talking to SAG but like, after all the shit we saw during the strike from some quarters?? Union man, baby ✊🏻)

his thoughtfulness and consideration in responding to the questions (which were great - such a gorgeous, warm conversation)

the interest in going back to directing (!!) but also the anxiety that comes with the responsibility

“Gimme a comedy” YES GOOD YES AGREED

the general sense of something that I love to see in people regardless of their job or profession: they take the work seriously, but they don’t take themselves too seriously.

I just love that man. Shocking news, I know. But I do.

(PS I’m going to need someone to gif that “I’m a fuckin’ nerd” line as a matter of urgency because I NEED THAT IT ME I AM A NERD I AM HE AS HE IS ME ETC)

Can you give more context on the technoblade Mr beast thing?

Okay I tried to find my old posts for you but I'm on mobile and it feels weirdly high effort for me to get out of bed to make this post but basically dream thought it would boost engagement in summer 2020 to talk about how he thought he was better than techno at pvp, so before anything happened tensions were already pretty high. Dream Loved technoblade content and he thought techno would be super down but he was a Fake Fan because any real technoblade fan knows that technoblade would do Anything to avoid conflict pre duel proof of his conflict avoidant ass->(x) techno has a video that's him v skeppy (he was way better than skeppy at pvp it wasn't close) where he "settles" who is better by challenging him to Grinch simulator and they only fight at the end bc skeppy wants to. Anyway so technoblade hated the idea bc he wanted the fans to get along and he hated being put under pressure like that.

One day Mr. Beast who is oblivious as all hell tweets at technoblade and puts him on the spot offering 100k to whoever wins a duel. Everyone thinks it's a terrible idea but techno feels cornered so he agrees. Even the dream fans are rooting for technoblade. (x) It's bad. A bunch of people hated on Mr beast for putting techno in that position, tensions were already super high and techno was already wildly uncomfortable, but then to get put on the spot? By Mr beast? Over an amount of money that is literally life changing? Techno kinda killed himself training and he destroyed btw but it was super unhealthy 0/10 hated the experience. I've never been so relieved in my life than I was that techno won and the whole pvp community was also so relieved. He literally was so stressed he didn't eat and then couldn't eat afterwards bc his stomach shrank -> (x)

Sometimes though, it's like this: Jamie with something far too heavy sitting on his shoulders, threatening to crush him; him needing to offset the weight onto someone who won't mind lending a hand while he figures out how to bear it himself.

with all the recent news surrounding checo's performance clause with rbr, it got me wondering about Daniel's deal with McLaren. Did he also receive a similar contract clause from that team? like Ik that he was dropped without his prior knowledge but was he given options beforehand??

Daniel in fact had no such performance clause in his McLaren contract. He had an option to extend for 2023 that only he could trigger, which meant McLaren couldn't unilaterally decide to not extend him for 2023.

This was why Zak Brown went on his media tour criticising him and playing musical chair with his seat until he signed Piastri behind Daniel's back. They wanted Daniel to trigger that exit clause on his own so they wouldn't have to pay him out. In the end, Daniel left $18mil richer

gotta say it is fascinating to me that the phandom is so largely built on archives and memories and retrospective and yet i'm seeing so many people be SHOCKED to learn of dan's (in particular) past racist remarks/actions. we have the deleted videos. there are links to them. they are found in the same place as the 2009 timeline. people (mostly poc!!! wonder why!!!) have been discussing it. so why is it that there is broad phandom memory for tweets from 15 years ago but a more recent history of racist actions is seemingly only remembered by fans of colour? interesting. lol.
