CN Rail’s entire Indigenous advisory board handed in its resignation Monday saying continuing the work would “mislead Indigenous Peoples as to CN’s sincerity and authenticity to reconcile.”
The statement, penned by the council’s co-chairs Murray Sinclair, former senator and commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and Roberta Jamieson, the first female First Nations lawyer in Canada urged the organization to make fundamental changes to the way it does business.
In an interview with Global News, Sinclair said the intent of the council was to assist them to develop their reconciliation action plan as a meaningful way forward, but after that was done, the company failed to use the council’s input.

CN's ferry Huron (of Sarnia) crosses the Detroit River with another load of cars, including what looks to be a Massey Fergusen combine, in August of 1964. Numerous rail ferries crossed the river at this time. The Huron was built for the GT in 1875, eventually being absorbed by the CN in later years. The ferry was still in use by the Detroit-Windsor Barge Line when it sank at its' dock in Windsor in December of 1981. The ferry was refloated and towed across the river to a slip in River Rouge where it sank again. It remains there today, with only the stacks still visible above the water. Jerry Pinkepank Kodachrome

Another Christmas Cab Unit by Will Rasmussen Via Flickr: Trainboy made a quick run down to Springfield in order to nail the NS Santa Train running out of Decatur with me. His truck came in handy to navigate the 5+ inches of snow that fell during the overnight and morning hours. Another nice series of runbys were performed by the fine equipment of the Monticello Railway Museum with Wabash F7A 1189 leading the way at Righter (Harristown, IL).

Ah the reason is that those are the fire tubes which carry hot gases from the Firebox through the boiler also they stick the Superheater tubes inside them, and since the Smokebox of a steam Locomotive has a giant Venturi pump inside powered by exhaust steam that sucks air into the Locomotive through the Fire allowing them to reach incredible Temperatures and helping them reach 200 or even 300 PSI which is used to produce insane amounts of Torque

thinking abt how fucked up steam engine boiler explosions can look. theyre just pipes under there
Tumblr media Tumblr media
gives me the idea of a ghost/monster engine that looks normal, albeit a bit battered, only to swing their smokebox door open and a myriad of pipes come bursting out like fucked up tentacles

Busy Sunday afternoon at Spadina, Entertainment provided the S-13's, a plenty... CN 8518 pushing a string of blue coaches through the wash and another S-13 has a Tempo generator – baggage in tow... and 8515 is working the AMTRAK F40PHR #280 with the Maple Leaf consist CN Spadina coach yard, September 30, 1984 Kodachrome by S.Danko Noteworthy: from the right, in the coach yard, two more S-13's, LRC cars, Tempo cars, in the distance Budd Cars, what appears to be a Track Inspection Car or Rail Grinder, a regular tail end feature of the seventies Super Continental: CN 'car-go-rail' enclosed auto carrier, and the nearly new rail grade separation line.
