what if because dust and horror wouldn't wanna be called anything aside from sans in a multiverse context and they were both good buddies they both just start calling eachother sans. i'm sans (dust) and i'm sans (horror) ahh duo
becaaause horror in his eye(s) still sees himself as sans!! he's sans!! who else is he SUPPOSED to be god đđ stop attatching this stupid fake name onto him that just points out all his shortcomings in his au and also just dehumanizes him (because i get that aus are named after a key trait of something but COME ON the guy's name is HORROR it's like naming a poor person "brokie" or something,,,). horror is PROUDLY sans smh
and dust ALSO sees himself as sans!!! like,,, granted he's definitely not a better sans than he was before considering everything he did (but he still doesn't like his past self's inaction) but he's STILL SANS. nothing about him changed (really?) enough to warrant the whole identity shift. like dude dont discredit him DONT DENY HIS WHOLE LIFE!!! he IS sans no matter what,,, dust doesnt wanna think about what he became if he's not sans now anyways lul :3
now could they fight over the right to the identity of sans??? possibly,,, but also consider this: there are literally infinite numbers of sanses in the multiverse. at some point the shiny title of Sans would be something horror and dust are used to around the multiverse!!! so why fight over the name (that so many others share already so its not exactly exclusive) when they can just decide to make each other feel better!!! be delusional TOGETHER đ¤
#because a certain mutual of mine's post reminded me that this draft of mine existed#ironic how this whole post is about dust and horror wanted to be called sans. and i call them dust and horror the entire time#killer would be having the WORST DAY OF HIS LIFE being around them#SANS THIS SANS THAT HOW ABOUT YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! YOURE HORROR YOURE DUST AND NEITHER OF YOU ARE SANS!!! NONE OF US ARE#ohhh my god this gave me ANOTHER idea.... horror and dust's pride in being sans bothering killer..... hahahshehahageh i like that idea#what's with me and horrordust but theyre using eachother to cope with the fact that they hate their current lives so they pretend to go bac#let's see if untitled29876011111 will approve of this mtt take after they wake up....... :3#this must be like the 7th hc ive made about dust and horror trying to remain as sans together#i think its really an interesting thing to me how they both are the furthest thing from sand undertale but they still believe it so firmly#its kinda like the opposite of killer and his want to be seperate from sans#because (and dont shoot me if im wrong) killer doesnt wanna be sans because he doesnt wanna believe he could've possibly made the decision#to do whatever the hell it is for chara as who he used to think he was. doesnt wanna believe that he's still the same guy when he's been#changed against his will SO much that even he cant recognize himself. and then for dust and horror#they still wanna be sans because for the opposite but same reason???? like#dont wanna accept they they've changed that much so they cling onto the old identity. i love trio parallels#i love continuation group i'm SO glad theyre continuation group. there are other continuations but THEY are continuation group#every single little detail about them can be connected to each other...... and they barely even know each other in canon â¨â¨â¨â¨#the characters are SO perfect together even though theyre not even from the same character or have interactions#how is it possible that 3 characters from 3 seperate creators with none/barely any canon interactions w eachother#just manage to work SO WELL TOGETHER!!!! THEY HAVE SO MSNY CONNECTIONS AND GREAT DYNAMICS AND PARALLRLS OAUGHHHH I LOVE THE MTT!!!! MY TRIO#i wasn't totally inspired by the silly sans 1 and sans 2 thing i put into my fic noooo. ok maybe i was :3#this is 500% gonna be a flop post but whatever i post for myself and the 1 person i know will 1000% see it now â¨â¨â¨ freedom â¨â¨â¨â¨â¨#tricule hc#killer sans#killer's not here in post but he's mentioned in tags. for today this is okay#dust sans#horror sans#murder time trio#utmv#sans au

tua4 spoilers as i rant about it like everyone else bc wtf was that
its like the writers got knocked in the head and forgor everything that had to do with the comics and former seasons and instead of trying to relearn it all they just looked at a picture of the characters and a vague description of their powers and wrote a script around it held together by a used bandage and a dried out elmers glue stick
dude i havent even finished watching it yet but no fucking way they all die at the end (if i read that correctly)
ur telling me after fighting to save the world on 3 separate occasions they dont even get a happy ending ?? what
not even mentioning the whole victim blaming line of "your trauma is your own fault because you shouldve never existed in the first place" aYO?????? wHAT ?!? that makes me so mad like highkey what
i havent gotten to it yet but i know theres a whole thing with lila and five now too which fucking sucks because ew? huh
they literally ruined everyones relationship because why did ray walk out on allison and claire?? the fuck ? ray from s2 would punch side mention s4 ray in the dick
jennifer was a stupid plot point okay why the fuck was she in a squid howd she get there whered it come from and why does she have such a visceral reaction to it years later
as an AVID no1 klaus lover they really nerfed the best character in the show he literally only got shot so allison could get peer pressured into resuscitating a dnr patient basically bc they couldnt find another way to write in how he got his powers back,, and they completely threw away the part from last season that he can choose to stay in purgatory(?) if he wanted to so thats that i guess :/
also lila w laser eyes? lmao girl where did that come from (NOT how her powers work)
and last thing everyones already saying this i was so happy luther finally got his normal human body back (i cannot stand looking at that ape body ive hated it since s1 lmao) and he gets his SUPER STRENGTH back and suddenly hes hairy again ?? WHYYYY??? THATS NOT HOW HIS POWERS WORK
i will admit tho that one scene with diego flipping into gunfire and redirecting the bullets back at them was sick as fuck i smiled hard at that
anyway i wasnt expecting viktor to be my fave character this season but elliot page was like so good this season (also his voice is so yummy) i mean he was great in every other season but he stuck out to me the most this time lol. i like that he has more teasing and jokes and hes a lot more confident,, not that it matters now but whatever it was nice while it lasted
#steve blackman when i get u... when i get you steve-#genuinely im so confused how you can make the masterpiece that was s1-2 n then flop SO HARD on 3-4#also does steve hate parents whyd he nerf everyone who had kids and made them like mega losers who hate their lifeđ§đťââď¸ââĄď¸#the umbrella academy#umbrella acedmy#tua#like i said before i'll probably live in ignorant bliss and not finish the season HAHA

The problem with starting to think about the Pack more is the fact that now I want to grab Skalamander the same way I grabbed Bobo like. My house now. I want to use your character potential.
#Generator rex#genrex#Just. Ough. OUGH.#Bobo was just a bad use of his potential but Skalamander is just a nothing use of his potential. Very little character there.#But looking at his design I just. Cannot get the question out of my head of 'Is it painful?'#Is he an EVO who lives in constant pain? We see that he can't stop drooling and is blind on one 'side' of his head.#And his tongue flops around when he has his mouth open. His skin stretches and sags in awkward places#It makes me think that he probably lives a pain-filled life and has probably got a wrecked mind bc of it. And then follows VK#Someone who looks at him and says You are not broken. I have use of you. I have salvation.#And with the disability symbolism with Genrex Skalamander also looks the most chronic pain having#Though granted most EVOs with significant body changes probably have chronic pain#I just. Head in hands. Fucked up lizard. How much of his mind is actually still there.#Do you think he has good days and bad days. Bad days where he can't move or days where his mind is more of a mess than usual.#He definitely has to struggle to eat and drink. With no other mouth.#Thinking also in context of Rex Pack AU of like. Skalamander having his bad days and having people who actually care about him#Doing the best they can to help. Bringing him food and water with specially designed straws and utensils#Sitting and talking to him on days his mind isn't fully there so at least he's not alone. Giving him space if he needs it#But making sure to keep a close eye on absolutely anything he needs.#Bc they're one big disabled family and they take care of each other

the gas station attendant social link alternate universe is about the past and the future. it is about accepting you who you were and who you are and who you'll be. accepting every aspect of yourself, intangible and tangible. that maybe you are fractured, broken, fragmented, empty, torn apart, or one thousand different things. but you are there for yourself, whoever that may be. whoever they may be. it is about love and betreyal and kindness and malice and caring and hate. deliberate or accidental. it is about learning and realizing and doing something about it and doing nothing about it. it is about the constant pursuit of knowledge no matter how fun it is no matter how terrifying it is. no matter if it's a genuine drive or something forced unto the self as one is pushed to the ledge. it is about life and death and what is real and what is not. it is about accepting what is there and making the effort to make it different. it is about stagnancy and improvement. it is about being the same and about change. it is about friendships about family about relationships about the inherent love present in all of it. it is about finding yourself in someone and the choice to help the other to help the self. to fill each other's half empty cups and overflow with gratitude or spill out and become an emptiness so unbearable that the irony of a rush of tears come flooding out somehow. it is about potential and the need to pursue it and find it and accomplish it and grow and grow and grow and learn and learn and learn and live and live and live no matter what anyone says. no matter what you say. it is about god. it is about human. it is about the bond with the one god once called its puppet but lives in the role itself no longer can be called an actor. because of love. because of love.
#kommento#sulululat#gsa sl au#// it was my love btw#// thinking that this silly thing is too 'far gone' but it's a fruit tree of so many personal spiels that maybe deep down I brought this#// to the table because I wanted to have people learn about myself? through something we can both love#// but that's just the thing it's become too personal that no one can relate to it and if anyone does it wrong I bite their face off#// I don't know. regressing back into my little bubble and thinking of other problems. being here is a journey and it's still going#// that there's still so much I can do but I'm reaching a tipping point and I can do everything now or drop it all#// like game dev crunch time. spend four years on it and a 1 and a half year chunk to prep for the live demo at the press conference#// and if you flop or show up with nothing the whole project would just be dropped. and there is nothing left#// all that passion and love and effort is washed away#// I don't even know what I'm aiming for. I just wanted a community. and I do have one but am I not satisfied?#// is there a certain sense of community itself that I want? now I'm selfish and picky? I am not sure#// I should make a relationship chart actually. with bubbles and lines and captions and labels or something. peek into my brain diagrams#// three year anniversary coming up soon... but who knows if I'll still be kicking in six more months. it's a surprise đ#// gsaslau is about god who is not human and a human who does not believe he is human. and somehow they make each other more human#// it is about a child meant to be the avatar of hope falling to his knees having to accept the truth about the people he trusts#// it is about a girl desperately wanting to save everyone and would offer her life to do so. but she wants to live with everyone else#// without another giving up their own life instead#// it is about a man who rises from despair and becomes the beacon of hope he never thought he could be#// it is about a man who wouldnt believe the emptiness in his heart stings. that he could never lose somethng because he never had anything#// it is about someone who relearns who they were and creates who they're going to be. fighting all the urges to destroy such a creation

met a 31 year old woman last night at a friend's wedding who took me under her wing when i told her i was 24 (much younger than most people there) and she basically told me i am normal and i will be okay and that i reminded her of kat dennings and now we follow each other on instagram. everytime i meet a nice girl like that i am forever affected and want to do my best just for them.
#its like every few weeks i have an encounter like that and i make a new friend and it always gives me an extra skip in my step#she was so cool she's lived a life and done so much and omg she was sooo pretty i was obsessed with her dress#and i kept telling her repeatedly once i started drinking#i was going up to all the women like you are SO beautiful you are loved i love you and they reciprocated#i have such bad experiences with girls in these contexts but they were all sooo sweet and not trying to be better than anyone#maybe its because they're all older ??#like they didn't seem deeply insecure trying to cover it up by overcompensating they all seemed so okay and aware and i admire that#i want to achieve that as i get to my late twenties/thirties#idk i just didn't feel like i was the weird one out or unable to blend in and it feels so good when i actually can fit in with everyone#I've been in a flop era for some time with my self esteem so this really helped me#and idk i just had such a good time and i did not anticipate that

Tomatoes, as a form of audience protest, started making appearances in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, mostly in theaters. This practice began in Europe and the United States, where disgruntled theatergoers would toss overripe tomatoesâand sometimes eggsâat performers who failed to impress them.
The tradition of "fruit-throwing" at bad performances actually predates tomatoes, though. In medieval England, for instance, people would throw things like vegetables, eggs, or even stones at poor performers as a form of heckling. But tomatoes became the perfect ammunition once they became widely available and cheap, since they were messy and just the right consistency for a splat without causing too much harm. Itâs a tradition that thankfully faded, although the image of the âtomato tossâ lives on as a symbol of the ultimate flop! đ
Letâs explore the dynamic between the audience and the artistâletâs dive into it with a BTS twist and have some fun!

Do not insult my intelligence
Zionists will try to pretend americans can't possibly understand what is going on in Palestine. That WE are the ones projecting. Fools, we see right through yalls bullshit because it's the same bullshit our ancestors pulled you fuckin numbskulls. Israel is just trying to do what settlers in "america" did to native americans. Only they are flopping so hard because they are trying to do what was done in the 18th century in the 21st century. It wasn't right then, it's not right now.
There is no justification for genocide. You cannot target civilians. You cannot target schools, hospitals, humanitarian aid. You cannot restrict humanitarian aid. You cannot deny people living on the land for thousands of years their homes. You cannot remove them from their homes. You cannot arrest them indefinitely without justification. You cannot greenwash Palestine. You cannot pinkwash genocide. You cannot hide your bloody hands by spewing lies. I can see and hear at the same time and I am no fool to your denials.
Israel must topple and Palestine will be free to self-determination and those who are capable of living alongside those with a different life can continue to do so in peace with equal rights for all. There is enough pie to go around. Palestinian freedom is not jewish expulsion. it is not antisemetic to criticize israel. it is not antisemetic to say free palestine. stop conflating things.
Some things you can do:

Valid points, all of it. I'm not anti china for any of the above reasons.
I'm just not over the laundry detergent advertisement.
Like I haven't forgiven the US for shit like that and I live here. Great post, but China can fuck right off until 2050 imo.
Just try looking for a positive story on China any day of the week in any of the leading global media outlets. Apart from reports in January about the Lunar New Year, there will hardly be any, and these too are likely to have a negative spin. It would appear there is a confidential memo circulating within Western media groups that guides reporters and editors to ensure there cannot be any positive news arising from a country with 1.3 billion people.
Typically, the negative stories adhere to three core ideas, which inform the unspoken guidelines within these press rooms when it comes to reporting on China.
First is the belief that China is a threat to the world and that this belief must be relentlessly reinforced at every available opportunity. How and why China is a threat is never explored; such is the deep-rooted and almost religious nature of the belief. Sound arguments do not matter. The basic tenets of good journalism are ignored when it comes to a China story. There is no need to explain or give evidence of why China is a global threat.
Left ignored is the plentiful evidence that shows China is not a global threat â even if one can point to mistakes and overreach in certain areas. China has not invaded any country in decades, or imposed sanctions that have devasted the lives of millions in poor countries, unlike the West, led by the United States.
Second is that China must be linked to every possible global event that affects the West. This provides an opportunity for the West to bash China while simultaneously burnishing its own credentials as the supposed arbiters of what is right and wrong in international relations. From the pandemic to the Russia-Ukraine war to carbon emissions; from rising sea levels to the scramble for rare earths; from the building of infrastructure in Africa to the production of vaccines â there must be an angle to demonize the country and instill fear in Western nations (and beyond).
Indeed, media outlets are reverting to the âyellow perilâ of the late 1800s. There is no subtle and nuanced approach to instilling fear like this. It is full-on and very often blatantly racist â but it is now acceptable for one to be racist about the Chinese in Western media, despite the fact that Black-White relations are very carefully described.
The third part of this phenomenon, which is surprisingly not challenged by liberal readers of mainstream media, is the sentiment that everything must be done â even illegal and unfair methods â to arrest the rise of China. Never mind the rights of hundreds of millions of Chinese to have a better life after a century of poverty and deprivation.
#Objectively speaking#china has too many fucking issues to deserve any good press#US doesn't deserve it either but the state buys out the media so what can you do#In the past few years there have been a good amount of pro-china articles#much to my personal annoyance#mainly about its megacities or great investment potential#and then it turned out nobody actually lived in the megacity and it was built out of paper-mache and dreams#and then the big real-estate business fucking flopped and tons of ppl were suddenly fucked out of their life savings#Don't even get me started on the social credit thing.#Like shit man china has some cool things going for it#It's a very culturally rich and linguistically-diverse nation with amazing history and has served as a beacon of the arts for centuries.#but like any other blooming world power#its more fucked than it has any business being for how it tries to posture#which is a recurring theme on the world stage.#I'd rather remain in my horrible frying pan than hop into that dumpster fire#you know#at least until the planet becomes uninhabitable.

Steve wins the bat plush at a fair when he's seven. He doesn't care about bats, but it's the prize for making all five baskets in the basketball game, so he gets the little bat. Its eyes are a little crooked and one wing is slightly smaller than the other, but it being lopsided sort of makes it cuter.
He and his dad, they're supposed to be going on rides now, but his dad's pager keeps going off. He puts Steve next to a funnel cake stand, tells him not to move, and goes in search of a pay phone. Fifteen minutes pass, and Steve is bored under the flashing lights and tinkling music. He wants to play not sit and wait.
Eventually, he drifts back towards the midway, watches the people rushing by, searches for a sign of his dad's return. His attention is caught by another boy at the basketball booth. He has to be about Steve's age, with a mop of dark curls on top of his head and a jean jacket that's slightly too big, sleeves flopping over his hands as he lines up his shots.
This boy, he's terrible at basketball. Every shot is too high or too short or goes wide, but he's trying. Even from this distance, Steve can see how hard he's trying. He uses up his five balls, fishes into his jacket pocket for more money, and gets five more.
He misses every shot. This time, when he goes back for more money, he comes up empty. Steve thinks he sees his lip shaking.
A man, one in a leather jacket and boots that Steve thinks look mean, comes up to the boy, drops a heavy hand on his shoulder. He's too far away to hear the conversation, assumes the boy asks to play again and the man's response is a shaken head and a tight smile. They walk away from the games, right towards Steve, who slinks back to the side of the midway, not wanting to be caught staring.
"What was it you wanted? That stupid bat? Just another piece of trash you wanna bring in my house." Steve hears as they pass.
The boy nods, but keeps his eyes down and to the side.
He feels bad then. Felt bad before, but now he looks at his own bat, at its funny eyes and poorly attached wings, and wishes he could hand it over to the boy who really wants it. Steve almost does, then, makes to go after them, but his dad appears, dropping a hand to Steve's shoulder and saying, "ready to hit those rides?" And he knows the opportunity is gone, knows his dad will say it's too soft, not what men do.
Steve manages to lose himself for a while in the swirling lights and funhouse music and carnival rides, forget about the little bat in his back pocket and the boy who wanted one so desperately. But then his dad's pager goes off some more, he goes back to the pay phone, and Steve ducks into the low brick building that houses the bathrooms.
His eyes immediately land on the same boy from the basketball game. His eyes are red, face damp, obviously from tears, and Steve just--
"Here." He shoves the bat into the boy's chest.
For a second, the brownest eyes Steve's ever seen widen at him, before narrowing in a harsh glare, the boy's teeth barred.
"Why?" He snarls.
Steve thinks he may regret every choice that led him to this but he says, he says, "Because I want you to have it."
The boy blinks a few times, hand reaching out to gently pinch the bat's smallest wing. "You sure?"
Steve nods and the bat is slowly withdrawn from his grasp.
"No takesies-backsies?"
"It's yours."
The boy looks at the bat in awe, and Steve says, "see? It already looks happier with you."
The boy's beaming smile is cut-off by a voice calling from the door, "you in there,? I ain't got time to be waiting for your boohooing."
"Coming!" The boy carefully tucks the bat into an inner pocket of his jacket. "Thank you," he whispers, eyes big and glistening and happy, before he disappears out the door.
---
13 years later, give or take a few months, and Steve stands in the cracked shell of a bisected trailer, rummaging through what remains of a life well-lived, searching for anything whole. He's already found a few undamaged mugs and clean hats, but this room--it took a lot of damage. The brunt of it, really. Some sick sort of joke, after everything.
It's mostly rubble in here, scraps of fabric; slivers of notebook paper, magazine, poster; crumbled shards of vinyl and cassette plastic. A few times he comes across the disembodied limb of one of those dnd figures, and something weird happens to his throat.
In the far corner there's half of a dresser collapsed into itself, and he shuffles through the debris to see what he can find. There's something, soft and black, just the edge of it, peaking out from under half of a drawer face. He pulls it out, careful as can be and it's--it's a plush bat. It's a little dirty, but unharmed, though its eyes are a little wonky, and one wing is smaller than the other.
He holds it and he stares and he has to brace himself against the wall. It can't be--it's not the same one--but he remembers those big brown eyes and the curls and--
"Harrington," a warm, rich voice calls from what's left of the hallway. "You get lost in there?"
Eddie shuffles in, slow, careful with his crutches. And it--it took so long, months and months of convalesce and physical therapy, still physical therapy, but he's here. He's alive. He's perfect. And the something blooming between them, it's not spoken yet, but it's there, growing, and now, now--
"Oh my god, you found Lilith! I thought she was toast."
"Lilith?" He's still cradling the little lopsided bat in his hands, but moves closer to hand it over to Eddie.
"Yes, Lilith." Eddie takes the bat, presses it to his chest. "The first boy I ever loved gave her to me."
His heart turns over in his chest and when he swallows his throat clicks. Eddie doesn't notice, he's smiling softly at the bat, at Lilith, but then, "why are you looking at me like that?"
"First boy you ever loved?" He says. He thinks he sounds normal.
Somehow, Eddie's smile grows even softer. "Yeah. Roan County Fair, years ago. Tried to win her, but--" he clicks his tongue--"never had great hand-eye coordination. And then this kid just gave her to me out of nowhere. I used to think I was going to marry him."
"And now?"
Eddie laughs. "I grew up, Steve."
And for a second, he doesn't know what to say, but then, "I was right then, huh? That she'd be happier with you."
He stares at Steve, those same big brown eyes, wide and glistening. "Steve that was--Steve?" Eddie presses a hand over his mouth, overcome, before launching himself into Steve's arms. The crutches clatter to the floor, but Steve has him, will always have him, no matter what.
"I can't believe you kept her," Steve whispers.
"God, I carry her everywhere. She's Corroded Coffin's mascot, and you--Steve, I can't believe that was you."
"Surprise," he bumps Eddie's forehead with his.
They hold each other in the center of the destruction, but none of that matters right now, not when it feels like every moment since they very first met as children was leading them to this.
From the other half of the trailer, they hear footsteps, chattering, Wayne and Robin and Dustin, but Steve wants this to last a little longer.
"So, marriage...that still off the table?"
Eddie laughs softly, nuzzles his face against Steve's neck. "Are you kidding, sweetheart? No way I'm letting you go."

corroded coffin does one of those interviews with puppies and before eddie leaves, steve warns him that he better not come home with one of them. eddie promises him he won't.
he wasn't expecting the littlest basset hound puppy he's ever seen to curl up and fall asleep between his crossed legs at the beginning of the interview. he wasn't expecting to fall in love a second time in his life.
and the rest of the guys already decided they were going to adopt one of the many puppies they played with, so what's the harm in eddie doing the same?
the distance between their home and the studio is only an hour car ride, so when eddie gets home that evening, he quietly closes the front door and finds steve in the living room, sprawled out on the couch and watching tv.
as gently as he can, eddie places the puppy (galadriel, he named her on the ride home) onto steve's chest. he doesn't startle too bad, thankfully, but he does stare at her in bewilderment.
"hello...?" he says to her, confused. "where did you come from?"
eddie clears his throat and he gives a little steve-like finger wave when steve snaps his head up and their eyes meet.
steve lets out a sigh, deep enough to send galadriel rising and falling, and flops his head back on the couch cushion. "i knew this would happen."
"i really did try, stevie," eddie tries to plead his case, leaning against the back of the couch and reaching to scratch at galadriel's little noggin. "i held out for as long as i could, but she caught me in a moment of weakness."
galadriel's mouth falls open in a yawn, her tongue lolling out, and then shuffles further up steve's chest to curl into a ball in the space between his neck and shoulder
eddie's bottom lip juts out and his eyes go wide.
steve feels his heart melt and he brings a hand up to cradle her little butt. she's so warm, how are puppies always walking space heaters?
he looks back at eddie, finally breaking. "puppy pads are in the hall closet. i've already made a rotating schedule for potty walks and baths."
eddie makes a giddy sound and leans forward to peck steve's lips, careful not to wake the sleeping pup.
after the interview comes out, eddie tweets a photo of galadriel (who has quickly chosen steve as her favorite) wearing a puppy battle vest and a colts hat.

"Oh, goddamn it."
Here you are, standing outside Buck's loft door at 10:00 at night with a six-pack of beer in hand as you contemplate your life choices.
Your latest date had been a complete and total disaster.
The man was loud, obnoxious, and a bit too handsy for your taste. So, you left the date early feeling frustrated and angry. All you want to do is relax and complain to your best friend.
Reaching into your pocket, you pull out your key to Buck's place. Letting yourself in, you sigh quietly as you slip your jacket off. The loft is empty and quiet.
"Buck?" You call out, setting the beer in the fridge.
Maybe heâs in the shower? Or asleep? You donât get a response, so you head into the living room, flopping down onto Buckâs new couch with a huff.
You lean your head back against the couch, your eyes fluttering shut as you sigh heavily. As you sit there mentally cursing out your dumb date, the sound of footsteps causes you to open your exhausted (e/c) eyes, looking over at the source of the noise; itâs Buck, walking out of his steaming bathroom.
Completely naked.
You immediately turned red, quickly looking away and sitting up. "Jesus Christ," you blurt out, feeling your heart pound in your chest. "Buck, for god's sake, a towel please." You keep your eyes trained on the wall in front of you, refusing to look at your equally embarrassed friend.
"Ohâoh god, I didnât know you came in!â Buck mumbles, grabbing a discarded towel from the bathroom floor and wrapping it around his waist.
Well, now you understand how he got the nickname Firehose.
"How long have you been here?"
"Not long." You mutter, still refusing to look at him. The image of his bare chest is burned into your brain. What you wouldnât give to rake your fingers over his toned musclesâ
Nope. Stop. No, nope. Bad thoughts.
âIâm just uh, gonna go grab some clothes.â Buck practically scurries away, disappearing up the stairs to his bedroom. You exhale, letting out a deep breath you didnât even know you were holding.
Finally looking away from the wall, you bury your face in your hands.
This is bad. You and Buck are just friends. Nothing more, nothing less. You need to get these feelings under control, but itâs so, so hard.
Buck emerges a moment later, thankfully with underwear and sweatpants on, although his chest is still bare. You try not to stare at his toned upper body as he shuffles back over to the couch, plopping himself down next to you; leaving little to no space. You desperately try not to think about it.
"S-so, how was your date?" He asks, his voice is casual but a tinge of tension in his words.
You try not to grimace as you remember the disaster that had been your evening. âUgh, it was terrible. He was so loud and obnoxious, it was awful.â You sigh heavily, shaking your head. âI donât know why I keep going on these stupid dates, honestly.â
Buck shifts next to you, his shoulder brushing against your arm, sending a shiver down your spine. Heâs so close, that you can practically feel the warmth radiating off of his body. Itâs driving you crazy.
You suddenly jerk forward, rubbing your sweaty palms on your dress as you stand, âI uh, I got us beerâto drink. Do you want one?â
Smooth, real smooth (y/n).
Buck nods, his eyes following you as you walk away, his gaze trailing down your body hungrily. He canât help it, the sight of your curves in that tight (f/c) dress is so damn distracting. He swallows hard, tearing his eyes away from you as you disappear into the kitchen.
You open the fridge door, the cool air hitting your flushed face. You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself. You need to stop reacting this way to him, you and Buck are just friends. No matter what your stupid heart may think.
You grab a couple of beers, opening one for Buck and one for yourself. Heading back into the living room, you desperately try to get your thoughts under control.
Buckâs in the same spot as before when you come back, his arm stretched out along the back of the couch. You hand him the beer and sit back down on the couch, putting a little distance between you this time.
As you get comfortable, you take a long swig of your drink. Buck does the same, his eyes flicking over to you as he does.
The tension in the room feels thick as if you could slice through it with a knife. You take another sip of beer, glancing over at Buck. Heâs still looking at you, his eyes roaming over your face. Itâs making you nervous.
âWhat?â You ask, lifting an eyebrow at him.
"Hm?" Buck seems to snap out of his thoughts, blinking at you. "Oh, uh, nothingâJust thinking." He replies, looking away quickly and taking another drink of beer.
You along nod awkwardly, taking another sip of your beer as you try to ignore the way Buckâs eyes still glance at you,âDonât strain yourself too hard.â
Buck snorts, rolling his eyes at your sarcastic comment. The corner of his lips twitch upwards, a small smirk growing on his face. But the smirk fades quickly, a flicker of something you canât quite place flashing across his eyes.
"Youâre just hilarious, y'know that?â He teases, but thereâs an undertone to it that you canât quite put your finger on.
You roll your eyes at him, though your heart skips a beat at his smirk. Youâre suddenly very aware of how close you two have gotten again, the heat from his body practically seeping through his clothes onto your own skin.
âDamn right, I am.â You snark back at him, taking another drink of beer as you try to ignore the way your heart is pounding in your chest.
Buck lets out a soft laugh, his eyes locking on yours again. The smirk on his face fades as he takes a deep breath, seeming to come to some kind of decision. He shifts closer, his body leaning slightly into yours.
"Can I ask you something?"
You involuntarily tense up, your heart slamming in your chest. His sudden shift in demeanor canât help but make you nervous, you take a deep breath to steady yourself.
âSure, yeah.â You say, trying to keep your voice even. You turn towards him, meeting his gaze with your own. âWhatâs up?â
Buck hesitates for a moment, his tongue darting out as he wets his lips. Heâs so close to you now, his face only a few inches away from yours. When he speaks, his voice is quieter than before, barely above a whisper.
"Why do you keep going on these dates?"
His question catches you off guard, making your stomach twist into knots. You certainly hadnât been expecting him to ask that. You take a deep breath, trying to keep your composure. You can feel your heart racing, the sound of it drumming in your ears.
"I, uh, I donât know. Does-Does it really matter?" You reply, trying to keep your voice casual. But you can feel yourself start to fidget with your fingers nervously.
Buck watches you for a moment, his eyes scanning over your face. His hand moves, reaching up to brush a strand of hair from your face. The touch is gentle, his fingers tracing lightly along your cheek.
"Yeah, it matters." He says, his voice soft. "It matters because all these dates are doing is making you miserable. I hate seeing you like this."
Your breath catches in your chest as his fingers lightly trail along your skin, sending a shiver down your spine. You can feel your self-control slipping, your heart and mind warring with each other. You want to lean into his touch, but at the same time, you know you need to keep your distance.
"Itâs fine, Buck. I promise." You manage to say, but the shakiness in your voice betrays your words.
Buckâs hand moves to cup your cheek, his thumb tracing over your skin. His eyes are still fixed on yours, his gaze intense and unwavering.
"No, it's not." He says firmly. "You're not fine. Youâre miserable. I mean, you're going on these dates like some kind of punishment, like you think you need to suffer through it for some reason."
He moves even closer to you, so close that you can just barely feel his breath fan against your skin.
His words strike a nerve in you, because you know heâs right. Youâve been using these dates to try and punish yourself, to try and ignore your feelings for Buck. Now heâs calling you out on it, and itâs making it hard for you to think straight.
You lean into his touch, your eyes fluttering shut for a moment. Youâre so weak for him, itâs pathetic.
Buckâs hand moves from your cheek to your chin, tilting your head up slightly, making you look at him. Your eyes lock with his, your heart racing at his proximity. His gaze is intense like heâs searching for something in your eyes.
"I donât understand why you keep doing this to yourself." He murmurs, his thumb brushing over your jawline. "You deserve better than these idiots you keep going on dates with. You deserve someone who actually cares about you."
Your breath catches in your chest as he speaks, your heart clenching at his words. You know he's right, but you canât bring yourself to admit it. You try to deflect, trying to keep the conversation light.
"Yeah? And who do you have in mind for me then?" You half-joke, quirking an eyebrow at him.
Buckâs thumb stops moving, his gaze steady and unwavering. His other hand moves to your hip, his fingers gripping you gently through the fabric of your dress
"Me." He says, his voice barely above a whisper. His eyes flick down to your lips, then back up to your eyes.
Your eyes widen in shock at his words, your mind reeling. Youâre speechless, unable to believe what heâs saying. Is he being serious?
You take a shaky breath, trying to form a response but struggle to find the words. Buckâs hand on your hip tightens slightly, pulling you closer to him.
âYouâŚyou do?â You ask, your voice a little breathless.
Buck nods, and his grip on your hip tightens even more, pulling you flush against his body. You can feel his heart beating fast, mirroring your own. Heâs so close to you that you can see the tiniest flecks of green in his blue eyes; you canât help but feel compelled to touch his birthmark.
"Yeah.â He says firmly, his voice rough and low. âI do. I want you so bad itâs been driving me insane.â
Your mind is swirling, your body reacting to his every touch and word. You should be pushing him away, shoving him back, and telling him to snap out of it. This is a terrible idea, bound to end in disaster. You could lose your friendship, and your job if things go bad. But you canât bring yourself to care.
"God Buck, me too.â You murmur, your hand moving to clutch at his waist, your fingers gripping the soft fabric of his sweatpants.
Buck lets out a low groan at your words. Your confession is like a spark, igniting a fire within him. He leans even closer until thereâs barely an inch of space left between your bodies.
"You have no idea how bad I want you.â He says, his voice practically growling. âI want to kiss every inch of you, make you forget your own name.â
âThen do it.â You whisper, your voice is a little shaky but so filled with desire itâs undeniable. You want this, you want him.
You. Need. Buck.
Buck doesnât hesitate, his lips crashing down against yours in a heated kiss. His hand in your hair tightens, angling your head back to give him better access to your mouth. His other hand slides from your hip to the small of your back, pulling you into him.
The kiss is intense, desperate, like heâs trying to devour you whole.
You let out a muffled moan, your hand moving to grasp his neck; clinging to him like a lifeline. Your body feels like itâs been set on fire, every inch of you burning with need and desire for him. You canât get enough, you donât think youâll ever get enough.
You open your mouth to him, letting his tongue slide into your mouth, your own tongue meeting his in a frenzied dance. You can feel yourself falling apart, losing yourself in the intensity of his touch, of his kiss.
Buckâs hands move to your thighs, gripping them tightly as he lifts you up, easily settling you on his lap so youre straddling him. You move your hips, grinding yourself down onto him, his body reacting involuntarily to the pressure. You can feel his hardness press against your core, it sends a throb of need throughout your entire body.
Gasping, Buck breaks the kiss before moving his lips to your neck; his mouth hot and demanding against your skin.
âYouâŚdrive meâŚcrazy.â He mutters between kisses, his lips trailing down your neck and across your collarbone. Hishands slide under the lacy hem of your dress, his fingers burning hot against your skin as they trace patterns along your sides. You arch into his touch.
âYouâre all I can think about. Every day.â He continues, his voice gravelly with lust. âGod, even when weâre at work.â
You let out a gasp as his tongue swirls over your skin, your fingers tangling in his curly, blonde hair. His words make your heart pound even faster.
You press yourself against Buck, your hips rolling involuntarily against his, seeking more of that delicious friction. You can feel him growing harder underneath you, only making you ache for more.
âYou have no idea how many times Iâve had to go to the bathroom to get myself under control,â Buck admits, his voice rumbles against your skin. He moves his hands lower, cupping your ass and grinding you down onto him. His mouth moves lower, his teeth grazing over a particularly sensitive spot on your collarbone, his thumb moving over your hip bone, tracing the outline of your underwear.
You let out a soft moan, your head falling back as he works his mouth down your neck and across your chest. His touch is like gasoline on an already out-of-control fire, and you can feel yourself losing more and more control.
âBuckâŚâ You breathe out, his name a plea and a prayer all in one.
Buck moans at the sound, his hands moving to your hips again, holding you still against him. His mouth moves back up to your neck, his teeth and lips roaming over your skin.
âFuck, Iâve wanted you so long.â He mutters, his voice rough and strained. âYou keep coming to me after those stupid dates, all dressed up in these pretty dresses. Do you have any idea what it does to me?â
The mental image of him watching you from across the station, seeing you all dolled up for these dates and not being able to do anything about it, watching as you leave with another man, it makes your stomach clench. You wonder how many times he's sat there, fighting the urge to pull you into his lap, to kiss you senselessly and show everyone that youâre his.
You let out a pathetic whine, the thought making you throb with need.
Buck leans back slightly, his eyes raking over your disheveled form. Youâre panting heavily, your (e/c) eyes dark with desire, lips swollen from his kisses. Youâre a mess, and it makes him feel a sense of satisfaction that heâs the one whoâs made you this way.
âGod, look at you.â He murmurs, his hands pushing up your dress, his fingers tracing over your bare thighs. âYouâre so goddamn beautiful.â
You shiver as his hands move higher, brushing over the sensitive skin of your inner thighs. You can feel your own arousal pooling between your legs, your underwear getting more and more damp at his touch. You want him, you need him so badly that itâs starting to become painful.
âBuck please,â You pant out, your voice pleading. âI need youâŚI need you so bad.â
Buckâs breath hitches at your words, his grip on your thighs faltering momentarily. He can see the desperation in your eyes, the need written all over your face.
âYouâve got me.â He says, his voice a low rumble. âYouâve always had meâŚjust didnât know it.â
Your heart clenches at his words, your mind warring with your body. Everything about this is a bad idea, youâre playing with fire here. But at this moment, with his hands on you, his body under yours, you canât bring yourself to care.
âProve it. Show me Iâm yours, Buck.â
Buckâs eyes flash at your challenge, a wolfish smile spreading across his face. He moves without warning, standing up and easily lifting you with him. Your legs automatically wrap around his waist, and your arms cling to his shoulders. Spinning around, he starts the ascent to his loft bedroom.
You cling to him as he moves through the apartment, his hands holding you tightly, supporting your weight without any effort. You bury your face in his neck, leaving teasing kisses along his skin, your tongue and teeth nipping at his pulse point. You can feel every muscle in his body as he moves, your hands roaming across his back and shoulders, your fingernails scraping gently over his skin.
As you reach the top of the stairs, he walks you over to the edge of the bed and sets you down on the soft comforter.
â(y/n)âŚâ He mutters, his eyes roaming over your body, taking in every inch of you. Your hair is tangled and messy, your chest heaving as you breathe heavily, your dress pooled up around your thighs, exposing your (s/c) skin. âYouâre going to be the death of me, you know that?â
You smirk up at him, a feeling of power rushing through you at the way heâs looking at you. You lay back slowly, arching your back and letting the skirt of your dress ride up higher. You run your tongue over your bottom lip, knowing exactly what youâre doing to him.
âPretty good way to go though, huh?â You tease lightly.
You donât know how, but Buckâs eyes darken even more, the sight of you on his bedâpractically inviting him to take youâpushes him over the edge.
âYouâre such a tease.â He mutters, moving closer to you as his hands go to the waistband of his sweats.
You let out a small gasp as he starts to lower his sweatpants, the sight of him in nothing but low-hanging boxer briefs makes your mouth water. You can see the desire and hunger in his eyes, the fact that he wants you so badly sending a thrill of pleasure through you.
âOnly for you, Buckley.â
Buck moves onto the bed, caging you in with his body, his hands on either side of your head.
âBetter be.â He grins, leaning down to trail kisses along your jaw to your ear. His teeth nip at your earlobe, sending a shiver down your spine.
He moves lower, his lips finding your neck again, sucking lightly on the sensitive skin there, leaving a mark you know youâll struggle to hide the next day.
You can feel your hands starting to shake as the ache between your legs grows and your mind gets fuzzy. You arch up into him, your body seeking more of his touch, more of his attention.
âBuckâneed you to touch me.â You pant, your voice needy and desperate
Buck groans at your words, his hands sliding lower down your body, gliding over your stomach and then lower until theyâre at the edge of your dress.
âLift your hips.â He instructs, his voice commanding, leaving no room for argument. You instantly comply, lifting your hips off the bed, allowing him to slide your dress higher up your body.
With a quick tug, Buck pulls the dress up over your body and tosses it to the side. He takes a moment to admire you, trailing his eyes over every inch of you.
Youâre laying there in just your (f/c) bra and panties, your legs slightly parted, your chest rising and falling quickly as you breathe through the need coursing through your body.
He leans back down over you, his hands and mouth immediately going to work. His mouth trails wet kisses down your torso and across your stomach, his fingers tracing lightly over your skin. You canât help but whimper as he moves, your body responding to every touch, every graze of his lips against your skin.
His moves lower, just barely brushing the edge of your panties. You let out a gasp, your hands gripping the sheets tightly as your body arches into his touch.
You feel Buckâs smile against your skin, his hands gripping your hips tightly to keep you still. He loves seeing you like this, lost in pleasure and need, your body responding to his every move. He moves his mouth lower, his tongue tracing over the thin, damp fabric of your panties.
âB-Buck!â Your voice cracks
âYouâre so damn sensitive,â Buck mutters, his fingers slowly tugging at the edge of your panties before pulling them down your legs and tossing them off to the side.
You clasp a hand over your mouth as you hold back a whine as you feel his hot breath fan against your soaked center.
Buck gently nips at the inside of your thigh, leaving small marks on your sensitive skin. He moves one of his hands to rest on your knee, keeping you spread open.
âItâs okay, (y/n).â Buck says, his voice full of desire. âLet me hear you, let me hear what I do to you.â
Before you can respond, his mouth is pressed against your soaking folds.
You let out a high-pitched moan, your hands automatically digging into his scalp, your fingers gripping his curly blonde locks. His tongue is skilled, his movements sending shockwaves of pleasure through your body.
âF-fuckinâ dick!â You manage to gasp out, your words quickly turning into broken moans and gasps as he continues his assault
Buck doesnât stop, his tongue working you over, his lips and teeth nipping and sucking at you in all the right places. He loves the way you taste, and the sound of your moans. But heâs greedy, and he wants more.
He slides his hand from your knee to your core, one of his calloused fingers gently teasing at your entrance.
Your body is buzzing with pleasure and your mind is fogged with need. The feeling of his finger at your entrance, teasing and tantalizing is almost too much.
âO-Oh god, BuckâŚpleaseâŚdonât stop!â You desperately gasp out, feeling the coil inside you building.
Buck groans against you, sending vibrations straight to your core, âYouâre so damn wet.â
âAll for youâFuck!â
Buck practically groans with need at your words. He gently pushes one of his fingers into you, the slide easy due to your arousal. You throw your head back from the pleasure.
âYouâre like heaven, baby.â Buck mumbles, his voice filled with awe as his finger continues to move, gently stretching you in preparation for more. âLike an angelâŚMy pretty, perfect angel.â
You canât respond, your words are caught in your throat, replaced by gasps and moans as Buck continues to work you. He adds another finger, scissoring them gently, the sensation making your eyes flutter shut.
âLook at me.â Buck commands, âOpen your eyes, (y/n). Let me see you.â
With a great amount of effort, you force your eyes open, to meet his gaze. The sight before you is one thatâll be engraved into your memory forever.
Buckâs hair is a mess from your fingers running through it, his cheeks flushed, his lips and chin glistening with your arousal, eyes dark with lust and possessiveness that makes your skin flush with goosebumps. He looks wild, untamed, and yet heâs completely focused on you, on giving you pleasure.
âIâm gonna make you feel so good.â He whispers, his fingers curving slightly, the way that makes you see stars. âIâm gonna make you cum so hard that you forget your own name, how about that?â
âYes, please!â You gasp, your words coming out needy and desperate. âPlease, Buck, please. I need you-need you so bad.â
Reluctantly, Buck pulls his fingers from you, your walls fluttering around nothing. He doesnât leave you waiting for long, shifting to kneel on the bed, his hands go to the edge of his underwear.
You watch, breathless and eager, as he slowly pushes down his boxer briefs, freeing his aching cock. The tip is red and dripping; you swear that you feel your mouth water.
âYou see what you do to me? See what you caused?â Buckâs voice is rough, his breath coming out in heavy pants.
You run your eyes up and down his body, taking in the sight in front of you, the way his body is practically trembling, desperate for you. You lick your lips, your thoughts swarming with things that would make a sailor blush with shame.
âPlease, Buck.â
He looks down at you, his eyes raking over your body, as he takes in the sight. You sound so needy, so desperate. He leans over you, his hands on either side of your head.
âPlease, what, sweetheart?â He asks, his voice a low, teasing whisper.
You wrap your legs around his waist, your hands gripping his shoulders.
âFuck. Me.â
Buck lets a curse slip from his lips as he captures yours in a hungry, rough kiss. One hand grasps your hip, while the other hand drifts to your thigh, gripping it firmly as he lines himself up at your entrance. Breaking the kiss, he lets his forehead rest against yours.
His eyes lock with yours, a silent question in his gaze. You nod, your hands running down his arms.
âDo it, Buck.â You say, your voice is desperate and whiny. âPlease.â
Buck lets out a low moan at your voice, his body trembling from the effort of holding himself back. He canât take it anymore, he needs you, needs to feel you around him, needs to taste you.
He slowly pushes into you, going as slowly as he can manage, relishing in the way your walls flutter against his member.
You let out a gasp, your hands tightening around his wrists, your eyes fluttering shut as you feel him fill you, stretch you in the best way possible. Thereâs a slight burn, but you welcome it as you shakily exhale.
âA-Ah...â Buck moans, his voice strained as his hands grip you tighter, burying himself fully inside you. His head drops to rest in the crease of your neck. âYou feel⌠you feel so goodâgod, so warm.â
You let out a moan as he bottoms out, your mind lost in the pleasure of him filling you so perfectly. You want to tell him how good it feels, but words are lost amongst the fog in your mind.
Buck presses a kiss to your shoulder, his lips feeling like fire against your skin. His hand leaves your hip and moves to grip yours, his fingers carefully intertwining with yours. Using his other hand he gently cups your face, forcing you to look at him
âLook at me, baby.â He mutters against your skin, âI wanna see your face. I wanna see how good I make you feel. Can you do that for me?â
You force your eyes open, meeting his gaze. The way heâs looking at you makes your heart swell; his eyes are filled with such adoration, such love.
Buck lets out a pleased noise, âThatâs it, so good for me. Look so pretty when youâre like thisâŚall flushed and trembling, just from my touch.â
He gives a shallow, experimental thrust, eliciting a sharp gasp from you as an electric feeling shoots through your body.
He moans against your skin, the sound making the hairs on your neck stand up. He moves again, this time pulling out slightly before slowly pushing back into you. You gasp again, your hands grab at his shoulder; your nails breaking the skin.
He sets up a steady pace, pulling out and then pushing back in with slow, steady movements.
Each moan and gasp, each twitch of your brow or hitch in your breath, he takes it in, and stores it away. He shifts his hips slightly, changing the angle, and a guttural, desperate moan tumbles from your lips.
Buck lets out a taunting chuckle, âDid I find a sensitive spot, baby?â He asks, his voice teasing and gruff against your ear.
You canât find it in you to respond, completely blissed out from the pleasure Buck is giving you. Your words catch in your throat, replaced by a series of âuh-uh-uhsâ as he continuously slams into you.
His pace quickens as his breath comes out in short pants, his hand gripping yours just a little bit tighter.
âF-FuckâŚWho do you want?â
âYou. Only you, Buck.â
Buckâs eyes close for a moment, a shudder raking through his body at your words. He lets out another moan, his head falling forward to rest his forehead against your shoulder as he untangles his hand from yours. Hastily he brings it down, harshly rubbing it against your sensitive bud.
The sudden change in stimuli makes your eyes roll back, the pleasure and heat reaching a breaking point.
âB-Buck, Iâm not gonnaââ
âI know, baby, I know.â He whines, his own voice wavering. âI want to feel you cum around me. Câmon, cum for me.â
Thatâs all it takes, the feeling of him inside you, the sound of his voice, the sensation of his hands on you against youâyour orgasm crashes over you like a wave. Your entire body tenses, a broken moan falling from your lips as your back arches against Buckâs sweaty figure.
Buck groans as he feels you cum, your walls clenching around him tightly. His hips stutter, losing their steady rhythm as he pulls out and starts pumping himself over your stomach.
âNghâshit!â Buck gasps suddenly as he feels your fingers wrap around his weeping cock, taking over for him.
â(y-y/n), you donât have to do that.â
âI want to.â You look up at him with a small, exhausted smile on your lips as you continue to leisurely pump him at your own pace.
Buck lets out a high-pitched whine, his hands gripping onto you tighter, âM-mmâ so close.â
âThen come for me, Evan.â
Buck lets out a desperate noise, the sound of his real name falling from your lips being his final breaking point.
â(y-y/n)ââ
You keep stroking him through his orgasm, watching as his body shivers from the overstimulation. Slowly, Buckâs flushed face lifts from your shoulder, his breaths leaving his lips in heavy pants, the corners of his mouth turned up into a small smile. His blue eyes meet your gaze, theyâre hazy and unfocused.
âGod, I love you.â He mutters, his voice a little hoarse, but still filled with an amount of tenderness that makes your heart skip a beat.
You bring your clean hand up to his face, running it through his messy, tangled hair, your fingernails gently massaging his scalp âI love you too.â
Buck lets out a content hum, pressing a few soft kisses to your forehead, your cheeks, your noseâAnywhere he can reach without having to pull his body away from you.
You laugh softly at his affection, your chest filled with a warm, fuzzy feeling, a smile resting on your lips. You feelâŚat ease.
Happy.
Safe.
Buck slowly pulls away, just enough to move off your body and lay next to you. He instantly pulls you against his chest, one arm around your shoulders, cradling you against him. He sighs contentedly, burying his face in your hair, inhaling your scent.
You rest your head against his chest, the steady thump of his heartbeat under your ear grounding and soothing. Your eyes slowly close, your exhaustion finally catching up to you. You snuggle closer to Buck, a soft yawn escaping your lips.
Buck chuckles as he hears you yawn. He presses a kiss to the top of your head, his hand rubbing soothing circles on your back.
âSleep, sweetheart. Iâve got you.â
You give a tiny hum, the sound of his voice and the feeling of his hand on your back making your eyelids grow heavier and heavier. Sleep starts to overtake you, but not before you mutter out one final sentence.
âI love you, Buck.â
Buckâs heart warms at your words. He pulls you even closer to him, relishing the feeling of having you this close. He presses a kiss to the top of your head again, his voice soft and gentle as he speaks.
âI love you too, (y/n). More than anything.â

a/n: this is my entry in @the-slumberparty's Sundae Bar Challenge, and i've been working on it since june so i'm very excited to post it!!! i wanted to make a sundae i'd actually eat so i used the prompts Butterscotch (childhood friends) and Caramel (drunk/delirious/not in their right mind). it also might be a bit literal to have Steve working at an ice cream shop but whatever!!
i mentioned when i teased this fic that i'd thought about turning it into a much longer story/potentially saving it for a novel, but honestly i just don't know when or if i'll ever have time to do that. but these scenes don't necessarily follow right after each other, so if they feel disconnected, that's why. they're just the ones i wanted to write đ
The sidewalk of Brambleberry Cove was warm from a full day under the August sun, the concrete gritty with sand beneath your bare feet as you walked the rest of the short distance to Seaside Scoops from your rental house a few blocks away.Â
The sun dipped low on the western horizon, casting long shadows over the coastal town like stretching fingers reaching for the Atlantic Ocean. You could hear the steady sound of the crashing waves over the near distant sand dunes, their rhythm a background to your walk.Â
It couldâve been a peaceful momentâyou were back in your home town, surrounded by familiar sights and sounds and smells. But you were in a wretched mood, and all you could focus on was everything wrong with the world and your current place in it.
There was, of course, the throbbing pain in your big toe from when youâd stubbed it moments ago on the cursed, charming sidewalk, as well as the slight sting on the sides of your foot where your flip flop straps had torn. Your ruined shoes dangled from your fingers because Brambleberry Cove didnât have a trash can on every street corner like the city you were accustomed to living in.Â
In addition to those grievances, the straps of your bathing suitâwhich you hadnât worn in far too long and hadnât realized had become too smallâwere digging into your shoulders and hips uncomfortably. And, though youâd only been walking for five minutes from the little bungalow you were renting, your thighs were already beginning to chafe beneath the simple dress youâd thrown on.Â
All told, you were not in the mood to appreciate the simple beauty of Brambleberry Cove. Instead of admiring the sun-bleached cottages that gave way to the small coastal shops lining main street, and letting yourself sink into the comfort of being back in your tiny beachside home town, you were fixated on everything wrong in your lifeâboth in that moment and the larger scheme of things.
In your defense, though, there was a lot wrong in your life. Thereâd had to be to get you back to your home town after so long away.Â
There was the dream job youâd lost, the ex whoâd left you for someone else, and the friends whoâd all promised to be there for you, but then vanished when you actually needed help. The only people whoâd come through for you were your parents, whoâd had a friend willing to rent a little Brambleberry Cove bungalow to you for a fraction of its normal summer price since it was already August and they werenât going to make much more money anyway.Â
Youâd had to pack up and leave the city where youâd built your life for 15 years, and move back to your home town, which you hadnât seen in nearly that long since your parents had moved out west shortly after youâd graduated high school. Being back home made you feel like you werenât only taking a single step backward, but moving leaps and bounds in the wrong direction. It made you feel like a failure.Â
But you tried not to think about all that on your short walk to Seaside Scoops, instead focusing on the pain in your toe and the digging ache of your bathing suit.Â
By the time you saw the familiar neon sign for the ice cream shop, it felt like finding an oasis in the desert. You picked up your pace, ignoring the way your body protested, the soles of your feet no longer used to walking on the sandy sidewalk like youâd done countless times growing up in Brambleberry Cove.Â
You could see through the window that there was a short line in Seaside Scoops, and you hurriedly pushed through the door of the shop. Once inside, you breathed in the familiar scent of sugar and hot fudge and reveled in the feel of the air conditioner ghosting over your sun-warmed shoulders.Â
Surreptitiously, you shoved your ruined flip flops into the garbage just inside the door and got in line behind the couple with their two small children. You glanced around the shop, not really taking it in, and hoped whoever was working behind the counter was still lax on the âno shirt, no shoes, no serviceâ rule that had theoretically been in place since before you were bornâbut had never been enforced in practice.Â
Finally looking to the counter, wondering idly if youâd recognize who was working or if itâd be some local teen that had been a baby the last time youâd been to Brambleberry Cove, you were shocked to see who was working at Seaside Scoops. Your belly swooped like you were standing on a boat on the choppy sea, your heart racing when you recognized the man behind the counter. At one time, heâd been the boy youâd shared so much of your childhood with, so many of your summers with.Â
When you got a good look at him, you were almost surprised you recognized him so fast. He was no longer the scrawny teenager youâd left behind when youâd gone off to college and never looked back. He looked so different from the boy youâd known well enough you could recall his face in perfect detail, but, in so many ways, exactly the same.
On the whole, it was a shock to see the man Steve Rogers had become.Â
Sandy brown hair fell on either side of his handsome, suntanned face, swept back like he had a habit of running his hands through it countless times a day. A short, well-kept beard decorated his strong jaw, bracketing a set of soft pink lips that were curved in a devastating grin. His bright blue eyes sparkled beneath the fluorescent lights of the shop, and when he spoke to the family in front of you in line, his voice rumbled like the distant roar of the ocean.
Seeing Steve Rogers for the first time in over 15 years made something loosen in your chest, anxiety uncoiling from around your heart and shaking free for the first time in a long time. A sense of safety and comfort washed over you, and you had the sudden thought that this was how you were supposed to feel about coming home.Â
But you shoved that thought aside and continued your perusal of your childhood best friend, making note of all the ways heâd changed from the boy youâd known.
Thick, golden biceps were bare and bulging beneath the edge of his white t-shirt, and dense, brown hair covered corded forearms as Steve folded his arms on top of the ice cream case. He was tallâtall enough to lean over the case to talk to the kids with the couple in front of you, asking them about their favorite ice cream flavors and if theyâd like to try anything new.
The kids, a boy and a girl, both stared up at him with wide eyes, shyness and wonder clear in their twin expressions. They looked to their parents for permission before shyly revealing what flavors theyâd like to try. Steve gave a deep, hearty chuckle at their timidness, and complimented them on their choices, which seemed to make them both loosen up a bit.
Inexplicable heat flushed through your body at the sound of Steveâs deep laughter, and the easiness with which he interacted with the kids. Youâd never been particularly good with children, mainly because youâd never had much of a chance to interact with any, and youâd never felt any particular desire to be around them. But seeing Steve looking like he did talking to those kids made your belly swoop again and something inside you pulse with a need you didnât want to fully unpack.
Shoving those thoughts into a box in the back corner of your mind, you forced yourself to look away from your childhood friend and up at the menu that listed all the ice cream flavors. Youâd been to Seaside Scoops hundreds of times in your life, if not thousands, and, at one time, youâd had the list memorized.Â
Hopefully you still had that knowledge tucked away somewhere in your brain, because you werenât taking in anything you were reading as you not-so-patiently waited for Steve to finish up with the customers in front of you.
It felt like forever, and by the time the family took their cups and cones of ice cream toward the side door that opened up into an outdoor seating area, youâd already cycled through three rounds of the same argument with yourself about why you should leave Seaside Scoops without talking to Steve. You couldnât imagine your first conversation in 15 years going well.
But you couldnât leave without talking to him. Not when he was right there and it had been so long and you were dying to know everything that heâd done in the last 15 years since you saw him last.Â
Still, it took you a few extra seconds to gather the courage to lower your eyes from the menu board and finally look at your childhood friend. When you did, your gaze caught immediately on Steveâs, and your heart gave a little flip at the devastatingly charming smile on his impossibly handsome face.
âHey there, buttercup,â Steve rumbled, his tone as friendly and familiar as it had always been. All of a sudden, it felt like no time had passed at all.Â
âHi, Steve,â you said, trying for the same casualness heâd achieved, but your voice sounded faint and faraway in your ears. The corners of your mouth flickered in a tremulous smile.
You couldnât understand the surge of emotion filling your chest and rising in your throat, pricking at the backs of your eyes like you wanted to throw yourself into your oldest friendâs arms and sob about everything wrong in your life.Â
The same deluge of emotion had hit you when youâd stubbed your toe on your walk to Seaside Scoops and youâd had to stand there by yourself, sucking in deep breaths of salty Brambleberry Cove air, nails biting into the flesh of your palms to keep yourself from breaking down.Â
Just as youâd done then, you beat back the emotion, blinking your eyes rapidly to rid them of tears. Still, a thought needled you as you stood across the counter from Steveâthe knowledge that if you did let yourself break down and cry, he wouldnât hesitate to fold you into that broad chest of his, wrapping you up in his thick arms and holding you so securely, the world might not seem so grim anymore.Â
You chalked it up to nostalgia and the rough time you were having, forcing yourself to take a deep breath and paste on a bright smile. Casting your eyes around Seaside Scoops, you pretended to give the place a real look, though you didnât really notice much as you continued to blink back tears.Â
âYou work here now?â you asked lightly, looking at the new standee in the corner.
It was a cartoon shark holding up a sign advertising Seaside Scoops and their many ice cream flavors. But what caught your eye was that it looked a bit like the shark Steve had drawn for you when youâd gotten a bad grade sophomore year and wanted to cheer you up. It even had the same little sailor hat sitting perched on top of his headâwhich only made sense because sharks didnât have blowholes, heâd told you at the time.
Youâd smiled then, and you smiled again remembering it.
âUhh,â Steve started, and you turned tear-free eyes back on your old friend, your gaze drawn to the way his bicep bulged against the sleeve of his t-shirt as he scuffed the back of his neck. There was a little bit of a sheepish tinge to his smile. âI actually own Scoops now,â he said in a rush, like he was confessing to something, though you couldnât imagine what. âI bought it when Mr. Wallace retired down to Florida.â
âOh,â was all you could think to say, glancing around the ice cream shop with a keener eye.
The shark standee wasnât the only new thing in the place. Everything, from the tables and chairs to the menu board and counter, looked slightly newer than you remembered. Nothing was wildly different, which was why you hadnât noticed it when you first looked around. Everything just looked better than it should if it had aged a decade since youâd last stepped into the shop.
Something about it made you think Seaside Scoops looked exactly like your memory of itâbut the polished, perfect version in your head, instead of the place as it had been. Yellowed with age and a lack of upkeep. It was genuinely astounding what Steve had done with the place and it took you a few moments to find the right words, though they still felt pale in comparison to the bittersweet nostalgia in your heart.
âThe place looks great,â you said with a half smile as you turned back to Steve. A small thread of pride wormed through your heart at seeing what your oldest friend had accomplished and your smile widened when he brightened under your praise. âI like the shark,â you said, hooking a thumb over your shoulder at the standee.Â
A bit of pink tinted Steveâs cheeks above his beard, and he cleared his throat.Â
âIs a dipped twist still your favorite?â he asked, clearly trying to change the subject and your smile dimmed just a little. The Steve youâd known had been shy about showing his art to anyone but you, and it seemed that youâd been gone long enough to be lumped in with everyone else.Â
You swallowed back a lump in your throat and nodded. âYeah, thatâs still my favorite,â you answered, more than a little surprised Steve remembered your order.
Sure, youâd gone to Seaside Scoops together countless times as kids. It had been your hangout spot for most of your childhood, and even into your teen years. Youâd study together over a cup of cookie dough with sprinkles for Steve and a cone of vanilla and chocolate softserve dipped in chocolate sauce for you. But that was more than a decade ago.
Your heart gave a heavy squeeze when you remembered the night before youâd left Brambleberry Cove, the way Steve reminded you of the promise youâd made as childrenâthat youâd always be friends. Your stomach twisted into knots as you were confronted with the reality that you hadnât kept up your end of the deal. Youâd left, and youâd allowed your oldest friend to become a stranger.Â
You wondered if Steve remembered the promise youâd made, the reminder heâd given you as a parting gift, or if heâd forgotten. You wondered if heâd ever want to be friends again.
Steveâs back was to you, his wrist flicking expertly beneath the softserve machine as he filled up a sugar cone with the twist of chocolate and vanilla. You forced yourself to push aside the memories of the past, blinking back more tears before Steve could catch them in your eyes.Â
You and Steve werenât friends anymore, and you needed to accept that. It was unreasonable to hold him to a promise heâd made more than two decades ago, especially when you were the one whoâd left and had barely tried to stay in touch between college classes and exploring your new city.
With a great amount of effort, you kept your mind blissfully blank as you let your gaze trail idly over Steveâs broad back, unable to stop yourself from noticing just how wide his shoulders were, or the way they moved beneath the soft, worn cotton of his t-shirt. He really did fill out the shirt well, his sides tapering down to a thin waist. And his ass looked particularly good in the curve-hugging denim of his jeans.Â
As Steve turned around, you raised your eyes quickly and arranged your expression into one of innocence. Steve paused, giving you a shrewd look like he wouldâve done when you were teenagers and you were hiding something from him, but then he just shook his head and laughed under his breath, turning to the chocolate sauce where heâd dip your ice cream cone.Â
âSo, what brings you back to Brambleberry Cove, buttercup?â Steve asked, his gaze focusing on dipping your ice cream just right, a look of determination on his face that was endlessly endearing.Â
You grimaced at the exact moment he glanced up at you, and he chuckled at the face you made. The sound was smooth as warm caramel and sent a new wave of heat rolling down your spine.Â
âThat bad, huh?â he asked, genuine interest in his tone.
Although there was a point in your life when you couldâve told Steve anything, and the urge to do so still lingered deep in your bones, you knew your relationship was different. You couldnât dump all your problems on your childhood friend after not talking to him for 15 years. You didnât even know if you were still friends anymore.Â
Plus, there was a small crowd gathering behind you as the late dinner rush started to filter into Seaside Scoops. Even if youâd wanted to tell Steve everything that had happened to you in the 15 years since youâd last seen him, it wasnât the time.Â
So you just gave him a sad smile and accepted the ice cream cone from Steveâs hand, ignoring the butterflies and ticklish warmth that fluttered through your body at his touch. You gripped the sugar cone tightâbut not too tightâso you didnât fumble it.Â
âYeah,â you whispered in answer to his question, leaving it at that. There was an awkward beat, and your eyes dropped to the ice cream that was already beginning to melt despite the air conditioning in the shop. Thankfully, you had an easy way to move past Steveâs questions.Â
You pulled some cash from the wristlet where youâd also stashed your phone and I.D., asking, âWhat do I owe you?â because you figured it mustâve been more expensive than what you remembered. And you didnât want to risk looking up at the menu and catching Steveâs eye, not wanting any of the emotions or heat that seemed to flood you whenever you looked at him.
But a large, warm, golden hand closed over your fumbling fingers, startling you enough to look up into the sky blue eyes of your childhood friend. Your lips fell open in surprise as tingling warmth worked its way up your arm from your hand, wrapping around your heart and making it beat harder.Â
For a long moment, you simply stared at each other. Steve really had grown up and changed so much, the evidence in the weathered grooves of his forehead and the lines between his brows, but his eyes still looked the sameâsoft as clouds, warm as the summer sun.Â
âItâs on the house,â he murmured, his voice low and earnest, the thrum of some emotion you couldnât identify laced through his words. âIt was nice to see an old friend,â he said, giving your hand a squeeze before he pulled his away.
It wasnât until Steve straightened up to his full height that you realized heâd been leaning over the counter, and your faces had been very close together. Heat crept into your cheeks at the realization that Steve had been in your personal space, and all youâd thought about was his eyes.Â
Shoving all the money in your hand into the tip jar, you muttered, âThanks, Steve.â As you zipped up your wristlet, you noticed that some of your ice cream was in danger of dripping onto your hand.
Without thinking, you licked quickly around the edge of the sugar cone, a soft moan slipping free when the cool sweetness of the ice cream hit your brain.
Steve made a strangled sound that dragged your attention away from your treat, finding your childhood best friend looking away and coughing into his fist, a deeper pink flushing his cheeks. You quirked your eyebrow in confusion when he looked back at you, but his expression gave nothing away and you had to wonder if youâd imagined the noise. It had almost soundedâŚaroused.
Shaking that thought clear from your mind, you gave Steve a smile and began to step away from the counter so he could help the next customer.
Steveâs eyes lingered on you, and he offered you one last charming, friendly smile, raising his hand in a wave. âDonât be a stranger, buttercup,â he rumbled, his low words managing to reach your ears over the chatter in the shop. He gave you a long look, emotion swirling in those familiar eyes of his, and your breath caught in your throat.
The intensity of his gaze and the warmth in his parting words hit you straight in the gut, and you stood stunned in front of the register while Steve turned and walked to the other end of the ice cream case to help the next people in line.Â
For a long moment, you couldnât get over the way Steve had been able to read your mind, to pluck the thought that you were strangers to each other out of your brain and then tell you he didnât want that to be the case. Your mind raced with questions. Did he still think of you as friends? Did he remember the promise youâd made all those years ago to always be friends? How did he know the exact right thing to say?Â
But then the rational side of your brain resurfaced from wherever your heart had momentarily buried it, and you remembered his farewell was a normal thing for people to say to each other. Especially people who hadnât seen each other in a while and likely would again because they both lived in a very small town. Thatâs all it was, just a normal goodbye.Â
Not Steve Rogers somehow reading your mind because he knew you so well.Â
With those rationalities ringing in your head, you dashed out of Seaside Scoops and it wasnât until your feet had carried you to the next block that you remembered your broken shoes and stubbed toe and chafed thighs.Â
But those problems didnât seem quite so bad anymore. Not with the delicious ice cream cone in your hand, and the sunset casting Brambleberry Cove in gorgeous, golden lightâand especially not with Steveâs warm, honeyed voice ringing in your head, calling you buttercup.Â
It had felt so normal to hear the nickname roll off Steveâs tongue that you hadnât even thought about it, hadnât realized how long it had been since youâd last heard it. But, just as it had when you were younger, it filled your chest with a bright, golden warmth. You grinned to yourself as you strolled back to your little bungalow, licking up the melting ice cream as fast as you could.
Your mood was decidedly better, and you enjoyed the walk home, refusing to think too much about why exactly you felt lighter and happier and less miserable about being home in Brambleberry Cove than you had before going to Seaside Scoops. It was just the ice cream, obviously. There was no other reason.
âYouâre staring.â Steveâs voice was low, the undercurrent of laughter in it almost mixing with the sounds of the distant waves. You could hear them through the open windows of his truck as he eased the vehicle down the winding road leading away from the docks on the north side of Brambleberry Cove.Â
His comment dragged you out of your drunken haze, and you took a deep breath to get your bearings. Your lungs filled with the salty nighttime air of the sea and the earthy leather interior of your childhood best friendâs truck, a small smile curling the corners of your lips and your eyes sliding closed. When you forced them back open, you realized he was right.
Huh, you really were staring at Steve.Â
Your head was swiveled to the side, your cheek pressed to the brown leather of the seat back, your eyes fixed on the profile of his face that was highlighted in the glossy silver of the moon and warmed by the golden light of the townâs street lamps.Â
You couldnât find it in yourself to feel embarrassed or ashamed for staring at Steve, though. And it was at that moment you realized you were drunk.Â
It didnât surprise you. After all, you were the one whoâd thrown on some jean shorts and a cute top and then took yourself to Shantyâs, the only place in Brambleberry Cove to go if you were a local looking to avoid tourists.Â
Youâd been happy to see Bucky Barnes, your other oldest friend after Steve, manning the bar. But youâd been much less happy with him when heâd insisted on calling Steve to take you home after youâd downed more than your fair share of liquor.Â
It was probably for the best, though. You were drunk and horny and if you werenât careful, you wouldâve gone home with Brock Rumlow. Just thinking about it made you grimace at yourself and your poor almost-decisions.Â
Focusing back on Steve, you couldnât fault Bucky too much for calling your old friend to pick you upânot when it had ended with you able to watch his side profile while he kept his eyes on the road. It felt practically shameful to indulge yourself so much. That is, if youâd had any shame left, but youâd drowned it all in alcohol.
âYouâre still staring, buttercup,â Steve rumbled, the humor clearer in his tone. The edges of his mouth were flickering beneath the silvery golden light of Brambleberry Cove at night and you knew he was trying to suppress a smile. It was fascinating to watch, but then Steve rubbed his hand across his mouth, scrubbing through his beard, and it broke you free of your drunken trance.
âI just canât get over how different you look,â you huffed, raising your arms and flopping them back against the seat in your best approximation of a shrug. âAnd how exactly the same.âÂ
Steve barked a laugh, the sharp sound bringing a smile instantly to your face. Youâd never heard him laugh like that, and you couldnât help but love that you were still discovering new things about him, even after knowing him all your life.Â
He glanced over at you, his expression bemused like he was sure you were drunker than heâd thought. You probably were, but that didnât stop you from being right, and you tried to convey that in the brief moment he looked at you.Â
Steveâs gaze slid quickly down your body, not like he was checking you outâmore like he was checking to make sure your seatbelt was still buckled and you werenât in danger of doing anything ridiculous. You were only in danger of saying ridiculous things, at least, according to him apparently. He shook his head after heâd turned back to watching the road.
âYouâre gonna have to explain that one to me, buttercup,â Steve said, a little bit of gruffness in his tone. He cleared his throat before he went on. âUsually when someone we went to high school with comes back, they tell me they never woulda recognized me.âÂ
You gave an unladylike snort, drawing another surprised laugh out of Steve before he bit off the sound to let you speak.
âWell those people should have their eyes checked,â you muttered scornfully, pushing yourself up from where youâd been slumped against the warm leather seat. You twisted your body in your seat so you were facing Steve, your eyes tracing the lines of his face from across the cab. âYou still have the same eyes,â you pointed out vehemently, as if Steve was arguing with you, even though he wasnât. âAnd your nose still has that little bump in it, and your lips are still so soft and fullâŚâ
You trailed off, realizing far too late that you were saying your inside thoughts out loud. Sinking your teeth into your bottom lip, you watched Steve as he processed what youâd saidâthe way his fingers scratched a little nervously at his beard, those twin lines forming between his brows. Your gazed traced every curve and line and divot in his face, examining his expression, wanting to memorize it and save it for the rest of your life.Â
âI donât think any of those people noticed those things,â Steve murmured, his voice so quiet you almost didnât hear it over the slight breeze drifting through the windows while he drove through town.Â
Your heart lurched at the implication of Steveâs words, but you couldnât bring yourself to take them back, even if they were dangerously close to revealing something you hadnât even had the courage to admit to yourself yet.Â
Instead, you focused on your anger at the hypothetical people who werenât recognizing Steve just because heâd grown up, gotten tall, gotten buff, grown out his hair and his beard and looked altogether very different to the skinny teenager heâd been.
âIf they didnât see those things, they didnât really see you,â you muttered to yourself, indignant on Steveâs behalf, but trying to keep it to yourself. Apparently, you werenât good at moderating the volume of your voice, because Steve snorted at your remark.Â
âNo, no one ever saw me as well as you did, buttercup,â Steve said, his voice low and warm, and your heart promptly rioted in your chest.Â
There was something so dizzyingly wonderful about hearing Steve say such intimate words to you in that deep, caramel voice of his, genuine affection shining through his tone. It took your breath away for a moment, and your brain short-circuited.Â
It was on the tip of your tongue to tell himâŚsomething. The thing you hadnât admitted to yourself yet. But you were still you, and your brain tripped at the last moment, and instead you blurted, âDo you ever think about our first time?â
Steve choked on a snort, his eyes darting to you with honest surprise. You couldnât blame him. Youâd had no idea those words were gonna spill from your mouth until they were out, but you supposed they werenât as bad as what youâd almost confessed, so you didnât try to take them back or change the topic of conversation. You waited with bated breath for Steveâs response, and whether he remembered your night together when you were both 18.
When he saw you were anticipating his answer, he spluttered, âYou mean when I came three seconds after getting inside you?âÂ
You began to smile, because he remembered, but then Steve continued talking.
âYâknow, I told Bucky about that once,â he said, his eyes fixed so fully on the road that you got the impression he didnât want to meet your gaze and your stomach plummeted. âI was drunk, and didnât know if it really counted as sex. Bucky was no help, of courseâhe said he didnât know either since it was so quick.âÂ
Something new was swirling in your gut, and for long moments you could only sit there on the warm leather of the truck and stew in that hot, feral feeling. It mustâve showed on your face because, when Steve finally looked over at you after youâd been quiet for so long, the truck lurched forward, his foot pressing too hard to the gas.
âDonât worry,â he rushed to say, guessing at what was upsetting you and guessing wrong. âI didnât tell him it was with you.â
âDonât you dare,â you snarled, the words bursting out of you with a ferocity youâd never used in your life, let alone when talking to Steve. But you were furious all of a sudden, and it wasnât until the words were spilling from your mouth that you understood why you were so angry. âDonât you dare try to take this away from me, Steven Grant Rogers.â Your voice was seething and barely recognizable, but you couldnât stop. âYou were my first, and it was perfectâbecause it was you.âÂ
Steve glanced over at you, something like shock written across his face, but when he looked back at the road, his brows settled low over his eyes. The muscle in his jaw popped and you knew he was grinding his teeth together, taking his time to gather his thoughts before he spoke. It took him a long moment to respond.
âYou deserved better.â
The noise of your scoff was loud, even to your ears, and you strained against the seatbelt still buckling you into the passenger seat as you leaned toward your childhood friend.
âYou ate me out until I came three times, Steve!â you cried, holding up three fingers as if the adult man your friend had grown into somehow didnât know how many three was. âNo man has ever made me come so many times in one night as you did then.âÂ
When Steve still didnât look at you, just kept driving with his hands gripping the wheel and the muscle in his jaw popping, you huffed an exasperated sound and flopped back into your seat. Your back was to the leather as you crossed your arms over your chest and stared out at Brambleberry Cove through the open passenger side window.Â
The silence grew until it was suffocating, and you needed to break it. So you said the first thing that came to mind. Again.
âYouâre who I think about when I touch myself, Steve.â Your words drifted from your side of the truck to the other, carried on the light breeze floating through the cab. âI think about you and that night, and it gets me off every single time.â
Steve made a strangled kind of sound, like a growl that was torn free from his throat against his will. Then he was quiet, and he was quiet for so long, you thought that was the only reaction youâd get to admitting the truth. UntilâŚ
âI think about you, too, buttercup.â
The confession hung in the air between you, settling heavily onto the leather bench seat in Steveâs truck, the air rushing in through the open windows buffetting around it.Â
You didnât feel Steveâs admission sink into you. There was simply a before and an after. And in the after, you were moving. You were unbuckling your seatbelt and scooting across the seat toward Steve until your bare knee brushed against the denim of his jeans.Â
He shot a startled look in your directionâwhich, in a distant part of your brain, you registered as completely adorableâbefore quickly pulling over to the side of the road. He was just throwing the truck into park when you slid into his lap, straddling his thighs and pressing your chest to his.Â
âWe should do it again,â you purred, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and leaning close. When Steve didnât respond right away, just kept giving you that surprised look, you thought he might not have understood you, so you explained, âHave sex.â
Steve closed his eyes and a light tremor shuddered through his body as his hands settled respectfully on your waist, a few of his fingers brushing the skin where the edge of your tank top didnât quite meet the waist of your shorts. Then, it was your turn to shudder, the feeling of his warm, calloused hands against your bare skin making heat flood between your thighs, your core warming and your body melting into your old friendâs hands.
âPlease, Steve,â you whispered, tipping your head forward until your lips were a hairsbreadth from his, so close you could taste mint chocolate chip ice cream on his tongue and it took everything in you not to lick into his mouth desperately. Your voice was practically a whine as you went on, âLetâs see if we can do better this time.âÂ
Steveâs hands shifted to your hips, his fingers digging into your soft flesh hard enough to almost hurt, and you thought he was going to give in. But then he swallowed audibly, his adamâs apple bobbing in his throat, and he pushed you gently away, his head tilting back against the leather seat so your lips no longer teased him with an almost-kiss.
âYouâre drunk, buttercup.â
Steveâs voice was a delicious rasp, and you couldnât help but shiver at the sound of it even as the meaning of his words settled into your drunken mind. You pouted at your childhood friend, hoping the fact that he hadnât pushed you off his lap entirely meant he wasnât saying no.
âAnd horny,â you said, the words slipping from your lips on another whine. Of their own volition, your hips squirmed on your oldest friendâs lap, trying to get closer, trying to find some kind of friction to work against the aching heat pulsing between your thighs. But Steveâs firm grip held you in place. âStevie.â His name was nothing but a pathetic whimper.Â
A low growl rumbled in Steveâs chest, and then one of his hands was abandoning your hip to cup your face, tilting it up so he could loom over you. The lines of his face were hard, stubborn, and the look in his eyes left no room for argument.Â
âYou know I wonât touch you when youâre drunk,â he bit out, his voice soft, but as firm as his hold on your body.
A memory slammed into youâyou and Steve planning your first time together. Youâd made a deal at the start of high school that if neither of you lost your virginity through all four years, then before going off to college, youâd lose it together.Â
When the time came, youâd been a little nervous, even though it was Steve, and youâd joked that you could take some wine coolers to the beach and get it over with, just like all the other kids in your school. Even then, Steve had looked at you stubbornly, and said, without a shred of willingness to waver, that he wouldnât touch you if you were drunk.
Back then, it had sent a shiver down your spine, and it had much the same effect more than a decade later in his truck. Your body trembled with arousal, and you pushed feebly against Steveâs holdânot really trying to break it, just enjoying the feeling that came from realizing how strong he was. Those biceps and corded forearms of his werenât just for show.
âWhat about just the tip?â you murmured, the words tumbling past your lips before you could think better of them, knowing there was no use trying to argue with Steve when heâd made a decision. But you were clearly thinking with something other than your brain, because the words kept coming. âThatâs not sex, just the tipâplease, Steve.â You were begging shamelessly, but your shame and embarrassment were still nowhere to be found since you were still definitely drunk.
Steveâs jaw ticked so hard, you couldâve sworn you heard the muscle pop in the quiet of his truck as he ground his teeth together.Â
âButtercup,â he growled, a warning in his tone. âThatâs not happening.â
Your fists gathered in the front of Steveâs t-shirt and you yanked on it restlessly, not trying to do anything more than annoy him. âWhyyy,â you whined, drawing out the word until it was nearly a wail. Unslaked heat burned in your blood and, while you knew why he was refusing to have sex with you, in the moment, you couldnât understand why your oldest friend was torturing you.
Steveâs hand slid down from your cheek to wrap around the front of your throat, and you stilled immediately, something about the possessive, dominant gesture making you calm. That was new, Steve hadnât done anything like that when youâd first been together, but you liked it more than you wouldâve expected. Your lips were still parted, your panting breaths gusting out of them, your heart racing, and you were finally calm and quiet.
Your oldest friendâs eyes roamed over you, taking in your reaction. At first he seemed surprised, but then a glint of something youâd never seen before sparked to life in the depths of his blue eyes. You watched his gaze drop to your mouth, and nearly whimpered at the way the corner of his lips flickered in the ghost of a smirk. But then he fixed his gaze back on yours, pinning you in place with that stubborn look in his eye, though it was slightly dimmed in favor of that new, hungry glimmer.Â
âI wonât fuck you only to wake up tomorrow and find out you regret it,â Steve said, enunciating all his words clearly despite the fact that his teeth were grinding together âThat you only wanted it because you needed to scratch an itch.âÂ
Your lungs dragged in a soundless gasp and you finally understood his reticence, even if you couldnât imagine ever regretting doing anything with Steve. But when you opened your mouth to protest, Steveâs fingers squeezed the sides of your throat.Â
Your words died on your tongue, and your mouth went slack, your eyes going hazy with pleasure. You couldnât have been more obvious that you liked the way Steve choked you if you tried. And he read your enjoyment easily from the expression on your face, that look of hunger sparking brighter in Steveâs eyes before he went on.
âWhen I fuck you again,â he growled, his words a promise. âI donât want you drunk on anything but my cock.â
âStevie,â you whined his nickname again, the name only you were allowed to call him, your lips forming into a pout. It hadnât escaped your notice that heâd said âwhenâ, and not âifâ, about having sex with you again, but you didnât want to push your luck. And besides, unslaked need was still burning brightly through your body, consuming most of your focus. âI needâŚsomething, please.â You let out a little whimper and squirmed in his lap again, unable to stop yourself.
Steve huffed a laugh, his thumb stroking down the side of your neck, over your thrumming pulsepoint, while the fingers of his other hand slipped half an inch into the waist of your shorts, only far enough to dig harder into your soft curves. Â
âIâm not going to touch you more than this, buttercup,â Steve began, his voice a low, delicious rumble that you swore you could feel in the clenching of your core. âBut I didnât say anything about stopping you from touching yourself.â
Your eyes widened in excitement, and you wasted no time in acting on the implication in Steveâs words. Holding his gaze, one of your hands slipped free from his shirt and trailed down your body. When you reached between your thighs, the backs of your fingers brushed against a thick bulge in the front of Steveâs jeans.Â
It twitched against your soft touch, and you gasped in delight, loving the proof that Steveâs body recognized you just as much as his mind.
But when you twisted your hand, intent on giving Steveâs bulge a friendly squeeze, his hand darted down from your hips to your wrist, his fingers circling around you and stilling your hand. âButtercup,â he rumbled, another warning.Â
A shiver raced down your spine and you reveled in the way it made you feel to hear Steve say your nickname like that. It occurred to you that it was newâyouâd never heard him say it quite like that before, with frustration and arousal flooding his tone.Â
You wanted to hear every flavor of your nickname on Steveâs tongue. You wanted to hear him whisper it like a prayer, and groan it into your lips while he kissed you. You wanted to hear Steve shout your nickname while he came with you.Â
But the look in Steveâs eyes was stubborn again, and you knew youâd have to wait to hear all the ways he could say your nickname.Â
âOK, Steve, âm sorry,â you mumbled, twisting your hand in his hold and pressing the tips of your fingers to the seam of your shorts, your hips jerking forward to seek more of the friction you offered yourself.Â
Steveâs hold loosened, but he didnât let go of you entirely, like he didnât trust you just yet. But you didnât care, your fingers were pressing into your clit through the thin denim of your shorts, and you were rocking your hips to grind against them, your wetness soaking through your panties almost immediately.
The moment when your fingers found just the right spot, you sucked in a sharp breath, your spine arching and your hips pressing down hard against your hand. Your head tipped back, your eyes narrowing into slits as you held Steveâs gaze. You moaned while you rubbed tight circles against your clit through your shorts.
âIâm going to come embarrassingly fast,â you huffed in warning, your chest heaving already with labored breaths.Â
But Steve only smirked, a touch of smugness in the curve of his lips.
âDonât worry, buttercup, I remember exactly how sensitive your sweet little clit is,â he rumbled, and you moaned loudly. His fingers flexed against your throat, digging in enough to quiet your sounds and making your eyes widen as your hips lurched in their rhythm. He chuckled at your reaction before continuing on.
âI remember sucking on your puffy little pearl, your thighs squeezing my head, my fingers buried deep in your tight, warm hole,â Steve purred, seemingly knowing exactly what to say to drive your pleasure higher. âI remember the exact way your pussy gripped my fingers when you came, like you wanted me deeperâdeep enough that you could feel me in your belly.âÂ
âGod, Steve,â you groaned, your head falling back listlessly on your shoulders, too heavy to keep it up. But Steveâs fingers dug into the back of your neck, and you understood the wordless command immediately. You lifted your head and caught your oldest friendâs eye while you kept rubbing your clit, pushing yourself closer to coming apart in his lap.Â
âI remember how big your cock felt inside me,â you confessed, spurred on by Steveâs own filthy words. âI remember how long it took for you to sink your thick, fat cock into my tight pussy.â You paused only to take a quick, hitching breath. âI was already so close when you came, and I remember, I thought, maybe if you hadnât been wearing a condom, maybe I wouldâve come, too.âÂ
The lines of Steveâs face shifted, hardening, his jaw ticking wildly and his eyes going molten fierce, like the blue at the center a campfire that burns too hot to sit near.Â
âDonât fucking say that, buttercup,â Steve growled, his voice gravelly like he was chewing on seashells. âIf I hadnât been wearing a condom, I wouldâve come so much fasterâI never woulda made it all the way inside you. Woulda been coming with just my tip inside your warm, wet pussy, babyâwoulda been too risky, buttercup.âÂ
Your eyes wanted to fall closed as you moaned, but you didnât let them. You couldnât tear your gaze away from Steve, not with that furious and ferocious hunger in his eyes, his desire for you etched into every single line and curve of his face.Â
You were so close. You just needed a little more to push you over the edge.
âFuck, Steve, I know I shouldnât, but I love the thought of you coming inside me, filling me up, making me yours,â you confessed, the words bubbling up from the very depths of your soul. It was on the tip of your tongue again, that thing you hadnât admitted to yourself. Instead of letting it free, you moaned, long and loud, your fingers rubbing faster against your clit and your hips grinding against your hand.Â
âChrist, baby,â Steve gritted through tightly clenched teeth. His fingers were digging into your hip again, diving further beneath the waist of your shorts, nearly skimming the edge of your panties. His other hand tightened around your throat and dragged you into him, until your face was right in front of his and he could watch every twitch and change in your expression as you pleasured yourself.Â
âCome on, baby,â he said, his voice urgent with need. âCome before I do something weâll both regret.âÂ
The hand that wasnât wedged between your thighs pressed to the center of Steveâs chest, just above his heart, and a moment later, you felt his warm palm cover it. He was still holding your throat, his fingers digging into the sides hard enough that you knew he could feel your fluttering pulse beneath his touch. And you could feel his heart pounding beneath your palm, the rapid pace nearly matching the frantic one in your chest.
âCome, buttercup, come for me,â Steve commanded, his eyes holding yours. For a moment, it felt like he could see straight into your soul. It was a scorching intimacy you hadnât felt since that night youâd first been with Steve, and you were helpless to it.
âStevie,â you cried his name as your pleasure rose up and consumed you, sending you over the edge into a earth-quaking orgasm. Your body writhed in Steveâs lap, your hips grinding gracelessly against your hand as you collapsed forward, leaning into the grip of his hand around your throat. You sobbed your pleasure, the waves of your release wracking your body for long moments.
Eventually, the final swell ebbed and the last of your energy receded with it. Your damp forehead fell against Steveâs cool, dry one and you struggled to catch your breath. His hand slipped from the front of your throat around to the back of your neck and he smoothed it down your spine.Â
He held you close, whispering in your ear, âSuch a good girl, buttercup, you did so good.â
Once you finally settled, Steve shifted, his beard grazing your lips as he pressed a kiss to your cheek.Â
âCan I take you home now?â he asked.
You huffed a laugh and slumped against his chest, laying your head sleepily on his shoulder. âI donât think I can move yet,â you said, slurring your words with tiredness. And drunkenness.
Steve chuckled, but made no attempt to move you. You only felt him lifting his arms around you, though his hands didnât settle on your body.Â
âIf you see Sam while youâre back in town, donât tell him I did this,â Steve murmured in your ear. Then you felt the truck rumbling to life and getting back onto the road and you realized where your oldest friendâs hands were. He was driving you home, with you still sitting boneless in his lap.
When Steve arrived at your rental house, not too long after, he helped you down from his truck and looped an arm around your waist, getting you into the bungalow. Thankfully, you were sated from your release in his truck so you didnât try to proposition him again, just dutifully did as he said, changing into your pajamas in your bedroom while he waited outside the closed door.Â
Then he let you lean against his broad chest while you brushed your teeth and washed your face, before guiding you back to your room and tucking you into bed. Last, he pressed a sweet kiss to your forehead that was so comforting, and made you feel so safe, your eyes fluttered closed and a soft smile curled your lips.
Before he could leave, your hand darted out and grabbed Steveâs wrist with surprising precision given your state and the fact that your eyes were closed. You dragged them open again, blinking away the bleariness until your childhood friendâs face came into focus.Â
âI donât regret anything weâve done together, Stevie,â you mumbled, the side of your mouth hitching up in a lopsided smile. âIâm glad you were my first.â You lost the battle with your eyes and they fell closed. You also, apparently, lost the fight against biting back your feelings, murmuring sleepily, âI want you to be my last.â Â
For a long moment, Steve was quiet. He seemed to wait until you were just on the edge of sleep before responding to your drunken confession.Â
âTell me that again when youâre not drunk, and Iâll believe you, buttercup,â Steve murmured, ducking down to press a kiss to your hand, still wrapped loosely around his wrist, before carefully extricating himself.Â
You were snoring before Steve closed and locked the front door of your bungalow behind him. He walked down the short path to his truck, which sat at the curb, a subtle smile on his lips and a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
