I just realised that when Finnegrin was going to feed Rayla to the Leviathan, half that fear was probably because of the water and the fact that she wouldn’t be able to swim

Callum without Rayla for two years gets obsessed with Aaravos' mirror. Could have ended up pretty badly.
Callum without Rayla for two days almost takes corrupted fruit from Aaravos in hobo disguise.
Proof that being physically apart from her will kill him.

In the first episode of Season Six, “Startouched”, a white-haired girl in her late teens has emerged from a body of water onto a beach lit by the sun, and seen her not-actually-dead father who she lost two years ago restored to complete life with a dark magic spell that demands blood be spilled. She’s distraught after the intense trauma of killing another member of her family. Her father made peace with passing on, but she selfishly couldn’t bear losing him and acted to keep his spirit tethered to the mortal world, hurting him in the process. She stands, then falls. Someone she loves dearly, the male former high mage of Katolis with brown hair who has repeatedly used dark magic but solemnly sworn off it, embraces her and she returns it. But then he abandons her. She is unbalanced, despairing, directionless and lost.
In the last episode of Season Six, “Stardust”, a white-haired girl in her late teens has emerged from a body of water onto a beach lit by the moon, and is about to see her not-actually-dead father who she lost two years ago restored to complete life with a primal magic spell that demands blood be spilled. She’s relieved after the intense catharsis of enabling other members of her family to die. They made peace with passing on, and she selflessly accepted losing both of them and acted to heal and free their tethered spirits. She falls, then stands. Someone she loves dearly, the male high mage of Katolis with brown hair who has repeatedly used dark magic but solemnly sworn off it, embraces her and she returns it. He will never abandon her. She is mature, hopeful, purposeful and found.

“Your fatal flaw may destroy us as well as yourself." “That’s not a flaw. Just because I want to help my friends—" “The most dangerous flaws are those which are good in moderation.”

On one hand its pretty understandable that Rayla is ghosted, even before she discovered Zym’s egg, she gave away the assassin’s presence by sparing Marcos. From this perspective she has committed a wrong by: revealing their presence (and guaranteeing their deaths), and fully showing her inability to take a life (literally her main job).
Tumblr media
This imagery is so strong and so sad because despite what they were going to do (you know …….killing a child) theres something to be said about your betrayal and reluctance ending in the deaths of four separate people in your village. Each of them with a family and possibly their own respective Ethari waiting for them at the Silvergrove. And to have them all placed before you staring at you silently in their absence?
If theres anything these past seasons have taught us, it’s that Moonshadow elves value duties, promises and oaths over anything….even their own children and soulmates, so it stands to reason that what Rayla has done is considered especially reprehensible.
Now on the other hand….Rayla’s actions have saved the Dragon Prince, which if we’re being honest would not have occurred if she gave the egg to Runaan, who was immediately captured after Harrow’s assassination and was barely able to shoot an arrow (let alone carrying the egg ALLLLLLL the way back to the Storm Spire). Because of her actions, she bridged the way for peace between the Human and Elven kingdoms by providing some kind of recompense for past misdeeds. This isn’t even getting into the fact Rayla was a literal child when her adoptive father decided to send her on a mission to murder a monarch and 10 year old when presumably there were more than 6 assassins in their entire village.
The trial to be unghosted however will likely hinge on how Moonshadow culture and ethics view Rayla’s actions. Will a society that values conformity, oaths and roles be willing to forgive someone who has forsaken all of this by forging her path (forsaking her oaths) and falling in love with a human?
And what is the secret the Keeper holds? Is it relevant to what happened that night at the castle?
(Basically I have a hard time thinking the Silvergrove will unghost Rayla but also its a kid’s show so will they really allow a protagonist to be socially exiled for the remainder of her life for saving a baby’s life…idk…)

Note
i can’t imagine a world where rayla was anything other than scottish
What if, after spending more and more time in Katolis post season 7, she actually develops something like her Human Rayla accent?
She's goes back to Xadia to visit Runaan and Ethari, and they're like, why are you talking like that?
Rayla: I can't stop 😭

So season 7? Rayllum? Angst like we’ve never seen before? I mean really the set up for the upcoming angst in season 7 is just too good:
They are happy, they are in love like never before, their love is more solid and grounded now, she is his truth, their love is essentially his guiding star out of the darkness. On the other hand they have both promised each other that they would put the greater good first, Callum by choosing the greater good and not saving her, Rayla by killing Callum if he ever was consumed by dark magic again, we also now know that if Callum was to use dark magic again he would be entirely consumed and Aaravos is now alive and freely walking the earth about to unleash havoc and chaos in his pursuit of revenge
Give me Callum and Rayla loving each other more than anything, being each other’s truth and yet being torn by the need to do the right thing and fight for the greater good
I will be on the floor this time next year, they’re going to kill me, I’ll have been killed by what started out as a show made for children 😁

Wait wait
If they do end up freeing Kpp’ar with the last quasar diamond, which is possible, I was wondering WHY and like
Wouldn’t he totally help in changing Claudia’s heart? Somehow? He knows Viren, he knows what Viren did— (Viren considered Kpp’ar his family, I’m sure of it) while Claudia doesn’t.
All this time, I think Claudia has only seen how Viren’s vile acts HELPED her family. She doesn’t exactly know that he’s the reason Lissa left (because he wanted to complete a dark spell) doesn’t know how Viren treated Soren all these years, how he blamed Soren for their family breaking apart. She denied that Viren would ask Soren to kill the princes (I think? At least at first) because to her, anything dangerous and horrible he did only had good endings even if it had to sacrifice an unknown creature’s life along the way.
Viren has done anything and everything for his family, but he’s also done so many evil things TO his family.
(He’s tried to have Harrow’s—someone he still considered his brother— children killed. The Lissa thing. Soren. And now Claudia too, for years.)
Claudia has to realize that the things she think were an act of love are also just— evil. Wrong. Unforgivable.
Kpp’ar could help her see that. About Aaravos too.
And then Claudia might finally realize her own truth.

"Keep my boyfriend out of your f***ing boat”
I'm pretty sure this mofo Finnegron (I'm not bothering remembering his name) is the one who kidnaps and beats Callum up so I hope Rayla whips his ass.
What if- WHAT IF. He asks her to fight in the arena again giving Callum in exchange for winning. She didn't win in the short story because she got discracted cuz Callum but maybe she will win now because he wants to save him! her weakness being her strenght now!
I doubt it will happen but It sounds angsty enough and I like it
Either way she gonna be insane trying to save him.
Edit: it ended up being the other way but I'm happy.

for Snake Boi Callum Week 2.0, day 3:
Could he really bring himself to go through with his plan? What if he didn’t succeed? What if he compromised his beliefs and it all ended up being for nothing? […] But her blade bounced off with a clang, sparks flying. She reeled back and tried again. Nothing happened. She was in trouble.

We now (probably) know how Rayla and Callum escape the magically rabid banthers :)
And it JUST occurred to me. Is the magically rabid banther thing the zombie thing going on at the sunfire Elf place? Or are the rabid banthers tied to Kim'dael? (Which I could see happening given the special moon arrow Rayla has when the banther is chasing them).
