COD Fic // Callsign: Sunshine // Chapter 8: Dancin' is a Dangerous Game
Tumblr media
^ that's me rn cuz I have so much planned for this fic muahahaaa my asks are OPEN rn and I'm workshopping a few more fic outlines so be prepared for a metric fuckton more of me
.............................................................. Callsign: Sunshine // Chapter 8: Dancin' is a Dangerous Game
Huzzahhh we made it to a time jump. hope you enjoy a lil bit of sunshine (or shall we say, ace???) and ghosty's growth.
.............................................................................. CWs: Explicit language, vague mentions of past trauma and recovery
Characters: Simon "Ghost" Riley, Reader (You)
Chapter Excerpt:
You spend the next several weeks in a rhythmic pattern of training, eating and sleeping, the gray mornings gradually giving way to sunnier and sunnier afternoons. The weather itself remains crisp. You're not sure that Scotland experiences true heat, though it's still not quite summer. Maybe you'll be proven wrong.
It takes time to come back to life. But the old you is in there somewhere, and little bit, by little bit, she resurfaces. After the first week, you'd regained a semi-normal amount of energy, able to push through a full day without too much difficulty. That had only improved with time, but you still fall into bed each night utterly exhausted. Your sleep remains dreamless and heavy and all-consuming.
You wake every morning with a roaring start, momentarily forgetting where you are. Hell, who you are, some days. But you're rested. You're groomed -- well enough, at least. You're fed. Though...
You're an awful cook. Ghost is somehow worse. The best the two of you together can scrounge up is a meager spaghetti dinner -- jarred sauce, of course. The cookies you'd made after that first day of sparring had turned out okay -- mostly edible, at least. Only a few bits too burnt to enjoy. But you found yourself eagerly awaiting Gaz's return, if only to eat something not made of years' old tomatoes.
Plus, you feel it might be nice to see a face besides your own. Ghost doesn't count. At a minimum, he's always got the balaclava pulled up past his nose, but most of the time, he's wearing the full get-up.
"Do you ever take it off?" you'd barked at him one day during a particularly grueling sparring session. He'd run you ragged that morning -- pushed you to finish a 5K without walking. You'd hissed and spat and growled at him the whole way, but you'd done it. Slowly. He'd celebrated your accomplishment by lording over you as you trembled through a couple dozen pushups, sit-ups, squats -- a whole menu of calisthenic torture techniques.
By the time you'd made it to spar, you were entirely fueled by contempt.
He hadn't answered you, of course. Merely looked down at you with his blackened eyes, arms crossed behind his back. Waiting for you to swing. You had -- too wild and wide -- and he'd put you on the ground with a solid whack to the armpit. You'd released a stream of more and more colorful swear words in retribution, but, as usual, they had bounced off him with no consequence.
And this was your pattern. Day after day after day.

November 28th babeyy
copy writing workshop yesterday, learnt about Word Tonic. Doing that i guess Novermeber 30th babeyyyy I think I def got the date wrong, or maybe that was on thursday. I'ts Saturday now though, 9:39 am. Woke up in a weird mood but then I find I always do when Iactually just need to poop bu the poop doesn't come until an hour or two after waking. To want something is to experience a desire for a specific joy. And when that joy is not fulfilled, as just in that moment it is the strongest, is frustrating feeling. That is why quitting smoking is a fucking bitch. But when you get so tired of experiencing that feeling (with smoking at least, I think this is how I got over it all: first of all, its not that hard if you just never smoke another cigarette... like thats what you sign up for when you decide to quit something. To never do it again. therefore, you are not a quitter if you do it even once again.) December 1st is tomorrow, I think its been a bit over a month and a half of no nicotine for me. SO much has happened. I can't process with my mom because I have to sensor myself in Russian with her, and also maybe I am disrespecting the language. I need Russian Adult fiction. I am now listening to Lolita.
Woke up at 7:45, made a smoothie, maybe I need to spend less time thinking and more time doing. What is the proper balance there though. I start to wonder what I do everyday and what my thoughts are bout.
It turns out when I feel like I want to get high, that I acctually just want to have some time to think and process. I think I used to do all of my processing in the running. Maybe I should go for another run. I am uncertain if I am about to slip into a whole other ED. cycle or if the behaviour of wanting to for a run rn despite the already incredible physical pressure I am putting my body under is normal. I have found myself asking a lot of questions about what is normal at the moment. I don't think anything is. You can really do anything and one side judges the other. I think the division in political opinions is stupid (2 party system? we can barely handle the mere notion of us all being in the spectrum. (mic drop?))
I also want to go for a run though because I love running. I do all my processing. I am debating what I'm going to do with the rest of my life (omigosh I am dreaming I guess) and this would be a nice life:
I am a copywriter, I take the course at my own time, do the little practice exercises, keep training to be a circus acrobat? Or at least a very strong yoga/calisthenics girl. I am actually in awe that I have gotten as far as I have. I am no where near the strong I need to be but I am so much more powerful than a past version of me.
My values:
lesniche -> a whole person!!! gift Ideas: High Peaks Adirondack sticker book -> I could DIY Algonquin and Anishnabe patches and one for wolf trail
I tend to remember my thoughts more when thought #2 is about #1. I try to plan the next couple thoughts I will express and don't therefore try to reprogram or explore thought #1 at all, and the more thoughts you can have in a row, the more of them you skip over and don't spend any time on. by the time you get to thought #7 you've glossed over a whole #6,#5,#4,#3,#2,#1.
I have been discovering new genres/new very specific niches. I think as music has evolved, we have gained more niches of music. Like it all started with drum circles and singing, maybe some stomping. and then that expanded to throat singing, and choirs and shit and people singing together. People plucking strings, earlier made out of animal sinew, now horsehair and shit.
And by the time you get to the orchestra, you've bent wood in ways it that send a shiver down my spine and a section of humanity is playing bethoven on some newfangled instruments. You can't have a violin without Anyone else feel like we haven't had any new instruments recently?
I want to learn about history by learning about when the different instruments came into play and how that correlated to emerging technologies at the time. And how that in turn had an effect on culture. Then I could use what little data analytics knowledge I have to run correlation vs causation on opinion stats regarding this??? IDK or somehow creat a weighting system. I am thinking like a data person but the correlation between technologies and instruments and culture might not make sense, culture is comprised of both art and technology. Art is going to be what keeps us as alive as it give you a reason to live. I iwant to paint, I want to create I want to build, I want to make beauty. I haven't stopped thinking about how much performance art is about conveying a feeling, telling a story. Art. Or making you feel stuff. I want to do everything in an artful way. Yoga is body being art.
Anyways back to classical music... as technology progresses, our capbilities for making different noises has expanded and thats how we now have EDM. But like you can't make EDM music with non edm equipment, and you can't have an EDM software without a computer, computers wouldn't have existed without the need for a more sophisticated calculator. and we needed math for doing fair trades and coexisting? We just keep extending, exploring, and acting on new facets of thoughts and fantasys (dreams?) towards every new facet of need we have that sparks innovation on how to connect the two. Innovation therefore comes out of a primal need to fulfill our needs. These are my raw thoughts. unfiltered. Is this waht everyone else thinks about.
efficiency. If I just think In the way I'd prefer to write, that makes this whole thing super easy. It's method acting.
I feel like I need to write otherwise my head will explode. I'm uncertain what is going on but I want to write. like have been dying to. I've signed up for a copywriters course. (And paid for a $275 course about it. but they offered 6 months free access to the discord thooo -> imagine running that, remote job, super fun I bet)
I think that the key to my personal humor is to understand the key to the way my brain works. And maybe people can just laugh at the situations my character ends up in.
I shouldn't be deciding how much time things take. I should just start doing them and then be ok with not finishing the task. Packing for Henry:
outfit for dinner
outfit for going outside
What will I wear to the parttyyy tnn
blacck underwear/ assless chaps
Lolita: rationalizing what you are feeling
from the r/Grimes surbrettig:
Sometimes I think Grimes is the girl they describe in the book of Revelation. There’s a section about a harlot and a dragon. The harlot pours out all the wickedness that was sewn unto her by evil men and it rots everything. :):):) https://www.reddit.com/r/Grimes/comments/1h2x3pz/am_i_crazy/

In the last few years, I've noticed an increasing number of people in my vigor getting into yoga. A good friend who used to play in in finance took it taking place and told me that he found it calmed him down and helped him focus. other friend told me not quite her yoga studio, which she has visited for years, and how she has gotten to know the additional people who go there. I used to pull off yoga. My wife and I were both play in it, hence it was something we could pull off together. Except I was terrible at it. I wasn't bad in a quirk that's simple to ignore. There are sure calisthenics where you have to put your hands in the let breathe and savings account on one foot and gaze intently at a spot on the wall and breathe in a special way, and if you're bad at that kind of thing you can just gaze ineffectively and breathe normally and people will probably take you're play in it right but have settled not to to make a fool of yourself. Despite the fact that I was probably the oldest person in each class by 15-20 years, everyone else seemed to be nimble to pull off all the poses without even trying. I've ended some additional exercise classes before, and this one is unconditionally alternative from anything I've tried. The class moves slowly and deliberately through various positions, afterward a lot of stretching and holding poses for extended periods of time. In the start of class, we are all lying on the floor and just animated for several minutes. I'm not sure what that's expected to accomplish, but it feels good.

Pulling The Limit: Introducing the Calisthenics Community of India
I’m going to be honest with you, up until last year I thought Calisthenics was just a bougie term for middle school P.E. class. As embarrassing as it may be to admit, the first image that popped into my head when I thought about Calisthenics was a jungle gym, kids being (annoying) kids and climbing up the domes or testing how long they can hang off of the tallest ladders. I say this as a former (annoying) kid - I even have a moderately gnarly scar on my right knee from falling off of the giant jungle gym at school. So, I guess I would consider myself a bit of a Calisthenics legend.
I only looked into Calisthenics in more detail after I got in touch with Anupama Shivacharya for a Näck Campaign. Anupama is the first certified female Calisthenics coach in India, and while I was reading up on her and her amazing journey I realised how incredibly wrong I had been about Calisthenics.
Sure, you may find some use out of a children’s playground or a jungle gym in your workout, but the world of Calisthenics is so far beyond just earning bragging rights for hanging on to the pole the longest out of your entire 6th grade class. The bragging rights are pretty cool, though.
If you’re like me, and you think back to your school playground or military training when you think of Calisthenics, let me give you a little breakdown. Welcome to Calisthenics 101.
At the foundational level, Calisthenics is resistance training using your own body weight - meaning you use little to no equipment. It uses functional movements to help strengthen your flexibility, agility, balance, and coordination.
According to Tee Major, author of Urban Calisthenics, “the fundamental goal of Calisthenics workouts should be mastering control over lifting and moving your body in space.” And if you’re thinking that’s the goal for a lot of the workouts you already do, you won’t be wrong. Squats, push-ups, lunges, crunches, dips, jumping jacks, broad jumps, handstands — all Calisthenics.
We rounded up some of the leading Calisthenics coaches and practitioners in India to learn a little bit more about the community and their journeys.
Anupama Shivacharya, India’s 1st Certified Female Calisthenics Coach
Anupama was first introduced to Calisthenics in 2018 while attending a parkour workshop. She caught a woman repping 15-20 pull-ups at one go, and she was hooked. She started heading down to her neighbourhood park and began practising with the local Calisthenics athletes. “The vibe was beautiful. We blazed rap and hip-hop songs on the stereo and practised every evening until dark and the park authorities threw us out. One pull-up led to two and then ten and soon I was participating in the National Calisthenics Championship - 2019. I placed Runner Up in the Endurance Athlete category.”
But, as with most other fitness communities, she found the Calisthenics scene to be largely dominated by men. Most women feared that the movements would make them bulk up or look muscular and stayed far away from the Calisthenics parks, leading Anupama to realise that just like her, other women need female role models as well. With this as her driving force, she set out to get certified as a Calisthenics coach and made history by being the first female Calisthenics coach in India! “The reception has been great and many of my female clients are outperforming their male friends, partners and counterparts. ”
A major part of her mission since being certified has been to break the notion that Calisthenics is a hardcore, intense form of fitness. “Even basic movements like plank, bodyweight squats and performing a push up on the kitchen-top or dining table are callisthenics. It can be especially helpful for folks who can't afford a gym, are shy to attend a group session or are afraid to lift free weights.”
In the coming years, Anupama hopes to see more people seek out their local Calisthenics parks, trainers, and communities to take better care of their health. “We already have world-class Calisthenics athletes in India and more will follow but the general public needs Calisthenics more than we know.”
Kirsten Varela, Calisthenics Coach And Founder, Elysium Calisthenics Park
Kirsten started his fitness journey at the age of 19 at a conventional brick and mortar gym, but soon found himself wanting to branch outside. The gym was much too monotonous and boring and Kirsten was seeking something more.
He was first exposed to the crazy world of Calisthenics by watching a YouTube video, and he was intrigued by the moves and tricks the athletes were performing.
“Calisthenics was exactly the opposite (of the gym vibe). I found it exciting, thrilling and enjoyed the encouraging and positive vibes of the Calisthenics community.”
He taught himself Calisthenics by watching tutorials on YouTube. Without proper guidance, it was difficult to grasp the correct techniques but he challenged himself by only working on the basics for the first 6 months. He soon moved to Australia to study and got involved with Calisthenics on a deeper level. But, once he returned he found that there were no specialised studios or parks for Calisthenics in India. Wanting to create a space for people to practise and build a community, he got together with some friends and set up Elysium Calisthenics Park in 2018 - the first official Calisthenics park in India. “In the beginning, it took time to grow. But after a year, there were times when I had over a 100 students per session!”
He has high hopes for the future of Calisthenics, not just in India but all over the world.
“People are missing out big time, if they don't indulge in this beautiful form of fitness!”
Geetika Tandon, Calisthenics Practitioner
Just like a lot of us, Geetika started taking control of her health and fitness on a more intense level after the first lockdown. “I got stronger and was looking for something challenging once things opened up. I had been following a few Calisthenic pages for a while and realised that it was something I wanted to try finally.”
After scrolling through a ton of Calisthenics videos, she decided to look for Calisthenics parks and classes around her, which proved to be a bit of a challenge since there weren’t too many to choose from, and the lot she had to pick from were going to be a quite a journey to get to. Fortunately, she found a couple of parks close to her after a bit of a wait, and she decided to finally give Calisthenics a go. “It’s definitely something you can start practising at home, and that’s the beauty of it. Although I can see why it would seem intimidating without a coach, so i think classes are the best way to start”
During her time practising, she has seen a sizeable growth in the Calisthenics community.
“Just the word Calisthenics was so Greek to everyone a few years ago, but now it's growing and fast! Even people in gyms are inclined towards Calisthenics. From people practising in small places, to moving into large parks, it's the next big thing in fitness.”
Geetika is looking forward to seeing more parks opening up across the country, and more people of all genders, and all ages trying their hand at this beautiful sport.
As someone who is not a fan of traditional gyms, and as a former Calisthenics legend (bragging rights don’t have expiry dates), I do find myself interested in trying out Calisthenics for myself, get reacquainted with the bars and climbing domes from my childhood, and of course feel like an absolute badass.
Calisthenics is by no means a small community - it’s growing everyday with more people seeking to challenge themselves, and there’s only bright things ahead for these wonderful athletes as they keep hanging, pushing, and pulling the limit!

Russia’s first patriotic youth festival was the Seliger Forum — a dignified name fronting what was really a glorified camping trip for hardy young enthusiasts who cared little for comfort. Since its salad days, however, Russia’s industry of youth conventions has developed into a whole network of state-funded “forums” (as they’re called in Russia), some with attached educational centers offering programs year-round. The youth conventions industry fosters a young pro-government generation that is gung-ho to do the ruling party’s bidding, and it costs the federal government a fortune. Eyeing these funds, bureaucrats eager for more public funding in their hands have proclaimed the industry to be “indispensable” for the nation.
Vladimir Putin’s domestic policy czar, Sergey Kiriyenko, oversees this niche, and it’s thanks to him that Russia now has specialized conventions for young IT workers, marketing and communications workers, Cossacks, and other groups. According to figures from the Federal Youth Agency Rosmolodezh, 50,000 young people attend these events yearly. Meduza political reporter Andrey Pertsev explains how Russia’s youth forum industry became a new frontier for ambitious government functionaries.
‘The voice of eternity’
Russia’s northwestern Pskov region is the home of a youth festival called Istoki, whose name translates as “Origins.” In his keynote speech at the annual festival in July this year, Kremlin Deputy Chief of Staff Sergey Kiriyenko praised “the hospitable Pskov region” as “the place of origin for many of the cultural and historical values that Russia can leverage as it advances confidently into the future, overcoming any challenge on its way.” “These traditions, these roots, are the source of our great power.”
A year earlier, Kiriyenko described Istoki as an incubator for “projects, principles, approaches, and educational programs that will later be scaled up for all the other youth conventions and educational organizations nationwide.” He also announced that a new educational center would soon be founded based on the Istoki youth convention to offer year-round programs for patriotic young historians.
The plan is to house the new Istoki center on the premises of the Pskov-Pechory Dormition Monastery, run by the pro-government Orthodox bishop Tikhon (secular name Georgy Shevkunov), Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhov. At the opening of the Istoki forum in 2022, Tikhon addressed the young people in the audience, inviting them to consider history from “the perspective of faith and theology,” to see it as “divine Providence,” and to “discern to the voice of eternity” in current events.
The early days
The prototype for Russia’s state-funded youth conventions was Seliger, a no-frills summer camp the Kremlin established jointly with Russia’s federal youth agency Rosmolodezh in 2005. This first mass festival for patriotic youth attracted mostly the members of Russia’s pro-Putin youth movement Nashi (“Ours”), whose patron at the time was Putin’s deputy chief of staff, Vladislav Surkov.
Both Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zhirinovsky (the leader of Russia’s far-right “Liberal-Democratic” Party) were known to meet with the young people attending Seliger. In 2012, the Russian Central Election Commissioner Vladimir Churov arrived at the convention by air balloon, in keeping with his “Magician” monicker, which he acquired from Dmitry Medvedev after voting irregularities in Russia’s 2011 parliamentary elections led to mass protests.
Apart from meeting with the country’s top leadership and attending workshops, participants engaged in fun activities like calisthenics, rock concerts featuring Russian (and sometimes Western) stars, and impaling plastic heads adorned with the portraits of prominent Kremlin critics displayed along an impromptu “alley of disgrace.”
The event’s Kremlin patron, Surkov, “thought he should work with activists who bridle to attend despite the inconveniences of outdoor living,” recalls a source who worked closely with the administration from around 2000–2011. Surkov was sure, he says, that tents would be perfectly adequate housing for attendees and generally considered Seliger more of a show than a genuine political event.
After Vyacheslav Volodin replaced Surkov in 2011, the convention was renamed from Seliger to The Space of Meaning. According to a Meduza source familiar with Volodin’s work, the rebranding changed little about how the convention operated. “It was the same body of loyal activists, now recruited through the Young Guard of United Russia organization and college administrations instead of the Nashi movement.” “The execution was a bit more serious, I guess,” the same source reflects. “They started inviting heads of State Duma factions and other officials. There was less entertainment.”
For a while, The Space of Meaning remained the only major platform for the Kremlin’s live meetings with young people. Russia’s different regions had their own regional youth conventions, but their scale wasn’t nearly the same. In the Stavropol region, for example, the “Mashuk” young educators’ festival was long considered little more than a summer camp sponsored by the regional government.
Then, in 2015, the “Tavrida” summer festival was inaugurated in the annexed Crimea to bring together young movers and shakers in the arts and culture. DJs, folk choreographers, urban designers, and young faculty members teaching in art programs were all invited to come to the festival.
“Of course, this was really all done for just one person, the president. There was no practical purpose to this convention whatsoever,” says a source who worked with Volodin’s Kremlin team at the time. He believes that Volodin wanted to show the president that he was busy cultivating a piece of turf that was so dear to Putin’s heart — namely, Russia’s youth.
The Kiriyenko era
In 2016, there was another staffing change in the Putin administration. Volodin’s successor Sergey Kiriyenko wasn’t satisfied with his predecessor’s lackluster approach to youth festivals. Kiriyenko (who had previously worked at the Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom) likes being systematic and consistent, a source familiar with the current administration explains. When organizing conventions for Rosatom, he developed a core group of regular participants who would come back again and again to Rosatom’s various recurrent events.
His reason for doing this was that a single regular convention is bound to have limited impact: either the same limited circle of regulars will convene every year, or participants must be rotated and will therefore quickly forget what they learned at the convention they attended once upon a time.
To address this problem, Kiriyenko increased the number of national conventions by extending federal support to a number of regional initiatives. He also established several education centers (four of them to date) where lectures and workshops can occur year-round.
As a result of Kiriyenko’s efforts, every federal district is now expected to host a youth convention of its own, a source close to the administration told Meduza. “An important region like Kaliningrad,” he says, must have “its own forum.” “Besides,” he goes on, “if a large region decides to start a convention, they can attract attention from the federal leadership, be in Kiriyenko’s sights, and show the president: Look, we’re educating our youth.”
If a region can’t allocate enough funding from its own budget, the federal youth agency Rosmolodezh and other sponsors — state and quasi-state corporations like Rosatom and Sberbank — will take care of it.
‘It’s all made of styrofoam’
Each of Russia’s state-sponsored youth festivals tries to reach a particular audience. The Ekosistema (“Ecosystem”) convention in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on Russia’s Far-Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, was organized especially for environmental scientists and activists. The Kaliningrad region is the home of Shum (“Noise”), a convention for young PR and marketing professionals.
While different on the surface, all the youth conventions follow the same template. A source whose work often involves organizing these events told Meduza about their phony foundation:
One of the convention spaces was designed to look as if lined with bookcases. You’d pick up a book from one of the shelves — and it would just be a styrofoam dummy. That’s what the conventions themselves are like. It’s as if it’s all made of styrofoam.
Participants typically start their day with physical exercise. Next, they go to lectures and workshops, and there’s invariably live music in the evening. Tavrida, Russia’s Crimea-based arts-and-culture festival, has the most live entertainment, though the performers are often a generation older than the audience. This year, for example, the pop singer Oleg Gazmanov, who made his name in the 1990s, performed for the guests, singing hit songs like “I Was Made in the USSR.”
This is not to say that Tavrida failed to invite a trendy singer: Not only did Shaman perform for the festival guests, but he did so in the title role of Prince Vladimir in a brand-new patriotic rock opera, which premiered at Tavrida. The plot, conceived by the music producer Igor Matviyenko (of the “Lyube” rock band fame), presents the Medieval Kyivan Prince Vladimir’s quest to subject all of Ancient Rus to compulsory Christian baptism. According to the libretto, Vladimir pursues this goal in the company of a “mysterious stranger who calls himself Gangrad but is, in reality, the Viking god Odin.”
Apart from specialized training and workshops, convention programs like Tavrida’s inevitably include propaganda lectures and meetings with “veterans” of Russia’s war in Ukraine. At the IT forum “Ficha” (whose name is simply a Russified version of the English word “Feature”), participants met with Daniil Kulikov, a serviceman from the annexed Luhansk “republic” who took part in Russian presidential grant programs after being discharged. At the Shum marketing convention in Kaliningrad, Kremlin PR manager Alexey Zharich taught young professionals “the mechanics of creating positive content” that “awakens pride, confidence, and hope” in audiences. Another speaker at the same convention — the polymath, patriot, and State Duma deputy from United Russia, Anatoly Vasserman — also talked about content creation and how it “shapes the values” of society.
Colonel Elena Vavilova, a retired foreign intelligence officer who drew parallels between leadership qualities and the traits of a successful spy, led a workshop on “interpersonal communication” at the Krasnoyarsk forum “Biryusa.”
Mashuk, a forum for young schoolteachers, managed to secure an appearance from Russian Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, whose arrest the International Criminal Court seeks along with Vladimir Putin’s.
Many of the conventions aren’t shy about advertising a political agenda. The Ficha IT conference, for instance, openly asked prospective attendees: “Do you love IT and Russia’s digital sovereignty?” The forum invited like-minded computer scientists to come together “for the sole purpose of creating new digital features that will strengthen the digital sovereignty of our country.”
The Russian youth convention industry has already spread to Ukraine’s occupied territories. In addition to the youth forum already conducted in occupied Melitopol, Kiriyenko has promised to establish an education center called “Mayak” in Berdyansk. Without going into the details of what kind of education it would offer, the Kremlin ideologue said that Mayak would be “a living entity,” and it’s therefore “best to build it in stages, depending on the demands of the time.”
‘Expensive, therefore essential’
Judging by the Kremlin’s budget allocations to youth conventions, the administration seems to consider them a promising new direction. Tavrida alone has cost the government around three billion rubles (roughly $31 million in today’s money) from 2020–2022. The Mashuk teachers’ forum had a far more modest budget of 120 million rubles (still over $1 million) in 2023.
This year, Russia’s youth agency assumed the expenses for hosting conventions like Ekosistema, the Astrakhan-based Cossack Youth Convention, and the Russian North convention in the Arctic Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Regional governments and a Kremlin-controlled nonprofit (whose long corporate name translates as “Russia, the Country of Possibilities”) fund similar events. In 2019, this nonprofit received lavish subsidies to sponsor The Space of Meaning convention, then anticipated to cost the government 360 million rubles in 2020–2021. (Public spending disclosures have since ceased.)
Channeling money through a nonprofit is the easiest way to fund conventions using the state budget without competitive bidding on government contracts and all the accompanying transparency requirements, explains a source close to the Putin administration. He adds that the Moscow Mayor’s office has long since adopted this model as the most convenient.
What justifies all the spending is that Putin “likes the idea”: “Mentorship. Instead of loafing around without supervision, the young are being educated. Instead of hanging about in the street, they’re going to forums,” says one of the sources who spoke to Meduza.
The “forums” themselves are run by the conformist children of Russia’s government functionaries. In 2023, Kiriyenko’s daughter Lyubov Kiriyenko, advisor to the dean of Russia’s Higher School of Economics, coordinated one of the Mashuk educators’ forum sections. Vladimir Vayno, the son of Kremlin Chief of Staff Anton Vayno, was on the competition jury of the Krasnoyarsk forum Biryusa.
Political consultants working with the Kremlin think of youth conventions as “the new oil” for the relevant part of the Putin administration’s bureaucracy, which views the new industry as a viable career path and a means of enrichment. “They’re simply pandering to Kiriyenko, who is a great fan of the old-school Komsomol practices, being an eternal Komsomolets himself, enamored with pompous gatherings and lectures,” says a source close to the United Russia leadership, without hiding his irony, referring to the USSR’s top political youth organization.
A source close to senior officials in the State Duma told Meduza that Kiriyenko’s love of forums doesn’t spring from a sentimental attachment to Komsomol alone. “SVK [Kiriyenko’s initials] understood early on,” he said, “that moving youth forums from campsites to brick-and-mortar buildings would be expensive, and therefore essential, and that it would be even better to conduct a great many of those forums all year long.” Why? Because it’s good business, the source explained:
And if you want your department to get a bigger budget next year, the thing to do is to spend all you can. […] It’s a never-ending race, just like with the cops’ system of fighting crime: each year, you have to solve more cases; otherwise, the higher-ups will think you’re slacking off. It’s the exact same thing here. They want more funding, so they have to build new platforms.
Networking around a greasy pole
A source who works in a grassroots organization and was obliged to take part in numerous youth conventions as a speaker or co-presenter describes these gatherings as “dreadful places” where “duped young people” gather to be bamboozled again. He says “regional officials and greasy pole climbers from youth organizations” all take advantage of the young:
[They] promise them hills of gold in return for simple actions, just like cult leaders. You have no education? No skills? No job? No vocation? No problem. Here’s our “youth-centric policy,” here are some lectures from today’s “thought leaders,” here’s Kiriyenko’s remote keynote speech, and here are some “creative workshops” on rural youth, cybernetics on Mars, and best fracking practices from Bangladesh.
A source close to the United Russia leadership who attended several conventions, some of them as a speaker, objects to this idea of victimization. “It’s not the innocents who go to those places,” he says. “They’re all hard-core opportunists.” And those who are not, he adds, are “just extras.”
A source close to the presidential office says youth conventions are a good place for career opportunists because high-ranking apparatchiks are actually scouting potential talent to recruit while supposedly giving talks and staging workshops. The ambitious youngsters, in turn, can “grasp the party line” from messaging delivered at the leadership’s talks and presentations.

A/B/O plus lots
There's a brief brief space of time between the Trials and when an Omega Witcher is fully sterile that omega Witchers can be bred. So, they get bred and knotted by every Alpha they can be. If they're lucky, they'll have a pup with a higher chance to survive the trials, or maybe even a full blooded Witcher pup.
Lucky for them, they're easy easy easy to trigger into heat and spend nearly the whole time in the throes of heat. Maybe up to two years, so two pups, if they're very very lucky
Alphas are always fertile, but only with their own "kind" which is omega Witchers but there's only that tiny gap to breed.
Ruts and heats still happen but they're not seeding fertile ground anymore.
Trial age is up to you, just wreck me some witcher boys. Breeding benches, Stuffed full, plugged up, fucked over and over and over. Screaming on massive cocks and knots and begging for more.
I tried to hit all the elements of the prompt Anon!! Plenty of A/B/O, breeding benches, and fucking 😉
You can find the full fic here on my AO3
Kaer Morhen's Puppy Mill
CW: Gangbang, Breeding, Overstimulation, Come Inflation, Boypussy, Alpha/Beta/Omega, Dubious Consent, Pregnancy Kink, Size Kink, Size Difference, Bondage, Hole/Pussy Spanking, Loss of Virginity, First Time, Knotting, Butt Plugs, Oral Sex, Frottage...like I fit the full kitchen sink in there. Marked as Underage, but no specific age is given. 🕊️💀 DeadDoveDoNotEat 💀🕊️
Let me know if you have a favorite line!!
Geralt came back to alertness when the knot locked behind the puffy lips of his tired cunt tried to pull free, still half full. His skinny thighs were shaking with the effort of holding himself up, even proped up as he was on the breeding bench. The Alpha just kept tugging free no matter how he whimpered around clentched teeth and asked for the other man to, "wait, please! Please!"
The knot pulled free with a sucking plop, the girthy cock slapping sloppily across pale pert cheeks, accompaning Geralt's keening wail.
There were similar noises from all around him as the few other Witcher initiates, young like him, omega like him, yet to face their first trials like him, were fucked and seeded.
None of them had taken a knot before, they'd been treated just the same as their Alpha and Beta fellow trainees until they had entered their breeding season.
Training and running and learning together, all things equal. He hadn't been concerned about things like kissing, or sex, or breeding.
That had changed when the Sorcerers came to prepare them for the season. Geralt and his fellow Omega's had been pulled from their regular lessons and made to sit through the most embarrassing workshops to get ready for their duty.
There were diagrams, playmating and the dissected reproductive system of what Geralt though must be a pig, but that Eskel had insisted was human.
It had taken almost a full fortnite for him to work up to wearing the medium sized plug. Eskel had been his heat week partner, both boys taking turns working through the stretches and calisthenics that were supposed to prepare them for their duty.
They'd shared sweet kisses as they frot against each other in their shared bunk, whispering about the Alaphs that had suddenly started trickling back in to Kaer Morhen early. Who they thought might sire a strong new brother for them. Who to avoid.
The potions they were injected with caused a fire to rise in their blood. They had to constantly help each other to alleviate the swelling. Horny pups, mouthing and licking, curled up together whenever they got the chance. Their bed sheets were starched stiff with their watery spend within the first few days.
The Sorcerers had staged a dress rehearsal for their breeding after they finished their special class. Calling it a dress rehearsal was generous since they'd all been naked for it. One by one with each Omega getting a turn they had been strapped bare onto a bench to get the fitting of their bindings correct, Eskel had held his hand the entire time. He hadn't pinched his butt, or rudely stuck a finger in him like some of the others had.
He could see across to where his brother Eskel was dwarfed by the largest man he'd ever seen, a Bear Witcher, visiting the keep for the two week peak each season that omega Witcherlings (that still might be able to fall pregnant) were benched, and fucked by any Witcher able to spare the time to properly bitch them.
The bear's knot must be absolutely huge, Geralt hoped if both he and Eskel did quicken with pups that they wouldn't have to carry such a large man's cub.
It would be a big cub as hairy as it's sire, more beast than man in size and bulk.
The potions they would take later in their training would render their wombs too toxic for a full breed Witcher pup to survive, for much of anything of humankind like themselves to survive gestation.
Other things would grow within his womb, but after his trials those things would only be the stuff of nightmares, a distant duty he wasn't prepared to think about yet.
He only had this small chance to fall pregnant with his own kind. To see them grow up alongside the other fosters and orphans of Kaer Morhen.
All be it with a better chance of survival.
Omega Witcherlings were rare, successful breedings of their young little wombs was rarer still, but the dwindling numbers in their ranks meant that the Brotherhood of Sorcerers needed to swell their pool of potential Witcher candidates any way they could.
Successful Witcher/Witcher full bred pups were, baring a physical injury, almost completely likely to survive their trials and transition into becoming a Witcher. Fewer changes were required of their bodies, immunity to the toxicity of the pure mutagens gifted to them by their Witcher bitch and sires.
He still had a full day and night left to get pupped with a new litter for his first cycle, and knew that even as full and tired and aching as his pussy and little omega cocklet were, there were still at least a dozen more knots in his immediate future.
Including the large bear Witcher.
Geralt hiccuped and tried to clench his tired muscles down, but both his holes quivered and stayed open.
His pussy was over full with the loads he had already taken.
His little ass didn't escape attention, fucked full with a regular deposit of nututrient rich magical slurries, pumped and plugged by those assisting in the breeding. Mostly that consisted of Omegas too far along in their training with wombs too poisonous to carry, or Betas curious or mean, intent on injecting themselves into helping out.
Every Alpha would have their turn to try. Their mutagen Alpha seed only able to catch in another Witcher, totally sterile in any other womb. The price they paid for their augmented mutant abilities.
He didn't like the potions.
They smelled earthy and dank, and no two large syringes of the stuff ever looked the same to him. His guts would cramp for an entire hour after each dose. But the mixture was a reliable way to hydrate the omegas, keep their bodies in a state of fertile heat, and it solved the problem of trying to feed their passed out bodies. They would stay bound to the breeding apparatus in the great hall untill they were pregnant, or the cycle ended.
The room felt like it was spinning, but the sudden clank and jolt was just the special hinge on the bench engaging, tilting the platform he was on forward and down. All he could see now was the floor immediately infront of him, and what little he could glimpse from his peripheral vision, bound tight as he was.
Mostly it was flashes of movement he caught, muscular buttocks flexing and thrusting against wailing writhing omegas, tender bellies being pet and coaxed to hold a little more. There were a few other omegas in the 'resting' position like him too, their little pussies and cocklets pulsing and quivering in the open air, Witcher seed drawn down into their heat ready fertile wombs.
Blood started rushing to his head as his weight was shifted against the straps holding him. Head shoulders and torso flipped forward nearly upside down. His hips and more importantly his womb would stay elevated to ensure the newest deposit of seed could have it's best chance of quickening in the depths of his womb. Gravity helping things along.
It was the only break he would get between knots. Once he was assessed by his current stud and his platform tilted back into the 'free use' position he would be back in service.
"Please, can I have a drink, please, just a small sip?” the boy whispered, voice breathy mouth dry after having spent the morning crying and moaning. The Witcher behind him, he didn't even know who had just come in him, fucked and knotted him, only seemed half interested in what he had to say.
"I-I just need water?" Geralt sounded scared and timid to his own ears, and he knew with their superior hearing that every Witcher in the room heard his childish pleading.
The hydrating suppository in his ass was no replacement for a cool sip of water on parched lips.
The last time he had made the request an older Omega had mounted his face, their cock had been like his own, small, only a mouthful, but it hasn't been what he needed. He had ended up with a cummy salty mouth and not the crisp refreshment he wanted.
He was ignored. The Alpha already surveying the other available omegas for his next fuck.
Geralt's red-rimmed puffy hole opened up a little bit, a small gurggling glug of white seed oozing out.
"Tighten up that loose hole, slut!” the man said spanking one of Geralt's quivering thighs with a sharp hit, eliciting a cry.
"Yes sir!" Geralt was mortified at his own squeak, but the sudden scare and flare of pain helped him tighten back up again, his head flopping back down against the platform, cheeks blotchy from the rebuke and the inversion.
Another quick series of spanks across his butt, caused him to tense up even more, his pert ass jiggling as each blow landed, pinking up his skin.
Geralt nodded quickly again, or at least tried to. “P-Please, I'll be good” he sniffled, knowing the faster there was another load in him, the faster this would be over. It’s not like he didn’t like being bred. But sometimes the men who fucked him were rough and Geralt so desperately wanted to be good. Well to be good, and to have something other than a cock in his mouth.
“Please Alpha, I feel so full...”
“Not nearly full enough little bitch,” a new voice growled, leaning down over him. He knew they could see everything with how he was bound, even his little belly, it's soft swelling a visual testament to how many loads had already been fucked into his pliant small body.
The new Alpha extended one finger, scooping up the wasted drop of cum that had slipped out of the little omega earlier and brought it back up to rub over the quivering muscle of his rim. Geralt yelled, pulling against his restraints with real desperation, “No! No, no, no! I can’t hold it in, please no!"
He thought the man would listen to him, would stop playing with his pussy, he was wrong. The rubbing became more insistent against the flushed oversensitive fluttering muscle.
Geralt wailed again, his lithe sweat slicked body wrecked with shivers, overstimulated, his little cocklet stiffening up against his will as he desperately tried to keep all of the virile seed inside.
He didn't want to be punished for losing any, not again.
Three broad fingers were plunged into his mouth, stretching his lips at the corners, stealing the moisture that was left, chaffing his tongue.
Three broad spit slick fingers thwapped down in quick heavy succession, three, four, then five times on Geralt's quivering hole.
The omega cried.
The Alpha Witcher smirked down at where fat tears were running down the pup's face.
"Don't you want to have your soft little belly full? Don't you want to be good for us, behave and you'll have a new little brother to play with."
"Yes, Alpha, please."
The boy's face was cherry red, all the blood having rushed to his head, out of sorts and overwhelmed from the heavy spanks to such a sensitive spot. The tears running down the pup’s face, were soaking his hairline, snot and tears and drool matting it, the poor little thing, but his little omega cocklet was still hard and he still wasn't trying to wriggle in his bondage.
"Such a sluty messy little puppy."
The Witcher considered playing with the boy there, tugging on his little cocklet and squeezing his balls until the boy begged for him to stop, or he got him to climax.
But that wasn't what this breeding was for.
Geralt hid his teary face down onto the platform as he felt it being tilted back and locked into position. He spread his knobby knees wider, light headed after having been upside down, ready to get filled again.
Wishing his rest had been longer between knots.
Still thirsty.
Across the way he could saw where Eskel was still knotted with the big Bear Witcher. From where he was Geralt could see where the other Witcher was punch fucking the full width of his still full knot into and out of Eskel's ruined pussy, all the packed up come being churned out of his belly, puddling on the floor beneath the bench.
Strong hands massaged his slick thighs evidence that Geralt hadn't been lucky earlier either in keeping all of the Witcher seed inside. "When I'm done, I'll fit you with a nice long plug pup, we'll make sure you don't spill a drop, does that sound good?"
The boy gave a wordless shrug of acceptance, what he wanted didn't really matter, but at least a plug would make keeping it all in easier for him.
Everything around him was heat and friction and fullness. He could hear the other omega's begging and moaning around him as his latest stud hilted deep into his over full pussy.
Was that Eskel moaning in pleasure?
This cock was maybe larger than the last, long enough that it was pummeling the walls of his insides. Occasionally it would hit his pleasure button inside and that was almost worse than the stretch of a knot pulled out too soon.
After a grueling series of rabbit fast thrusts, Geralt let out another yelp and tried to clentch down, tried to be tighter, to make the man come quicker so he could have a rest.
"Such a slut, that's right fuck your little cunt back onto my dick you greedy little thing."
Geral was rewarded eventually with a knot, and soft petting from the Witcher. Large hands moved down to cup his swollen abdomen, the skin heating up more, distending more from the newest load.
"Do you want to come bitchling? Should I rub your little cocklet for you?"
The omega shook his head, fingers clentching into fists where they were bound. "It hurts, I just want to rest, Alpha, Please, Alpha."
"You can rest once you catch. Do you think you are nice and pupped this time?'
"Yes Alpha"
"Good cub, the sorcerers will check you in an exam tonight, stretch your little pussy out with their magical tools and speculums and look up inside that cum dump of yours to see if you've been good."
The Witcher pushed down against the sloshing give of Geralt's belly, slipping a hand underneath where he rested against the bench to tweak a soft pink nipple.
"If you haven't caught, we'll just do this again and again, we'll keep you bound and stuffed here for the season, can't let your little womb lay fallow and empty pup!"
Geralt shook his head snuffling back new tears.
He could feel it all throughout his body when the large Witcher hummed, pleased, thrusting and tugging at Geralt's rim with his knot.
"Good bitch.”
