I caught up to TCF!!! (My translation at least)

Wow. This has been a long journey for me. I read TCF over a year and a half whenever I didn’t have WiFi or was bored. And then, recently, I got SO invested and speed ran the from chapter 750(ish)-the current end.

This book has been so important to me and I’m happy that I can now follow along as it updates.

Having said this….

FAVORITE PT 2 CALE MOMENT FEOM EACH WORLD!!!

(MAJOR SPOILERS FOR PT 2 OF TCF)

Xiaolen - when Cale had left and the people of Xiaolen were like “can we keep him? Please? Just for a year or two. Mom said it’s my turn to have Cale”

I really loved that part because yeah. I’d want to keep Cale too.

Central Plains - right after Cale stopped the tsunami and was struggling to stand. Specifically because everyone was looking at him with awe and wonder. Also because the heavenly demon pulled an Eruhaben with a “you nearly exploded”

I really love scenes where Cale is admired the most. I know he hates it but he deserves it.

Aipotu - When Cale was fighting to stay awake after using instant because he KNEW if he closed his eyes it would be the last time he does. He was fully numb, can’t see or hear, just holding on.

I want him to be happy but moments like this are SO good.

When Cale was in Aipotu and the red dragon was looking at him, licking his lips. And then, Cale immediately snitches to Eruhaben. “DAD!! That guy wants to eat me!!!”

Random Cale observations while I read the Webtoon

Reading the Webtoon rn and I wanted to list down the little things I've noticed. (Note: not super far rn, will RB when I read further) - When caught off guard he makes little flinches, probably not noticeable to most ppl. (only those like Ron would see them) He mostly has it in his hands or upper torso, like his shoulders and biceps. - Quick to praise others when they do a good job or just in general. (He's being genuine here, this isn't his Alberu complements lol) - Fucking changes outfits every few hours??? Idk if this is just a noble thing or maybe it was just an excuse to draw him in other outfits, but my man changes clothes every few chapters or so lmao - Respects those who are straight forward and don't beat around the bush. - Perches on furniture (arms of chairs or tables edges) when talking to others. - Constantly has his top buttons undone when he's at home/indoors. (not just a thing he does when he get's hot, think it's a comfort thing?) - If he's isn't in a defensive position, he tends to talk with his hands a decent amount. Especially when he's swindling someone and in deep thought. (I.E: lifting his hands under his chin & wrapping arms around himself. I can totally picture him rubbing his fingers together as well) - When confused his face either freezes or he makes a "wtf" expression. - Encourages other's to speak their mind no matter who they are.

(Okay this isn't an observation, but why isn't the fact Cale made a Vow of Death with Choi han brought up more?? Like I knew about the story b4 I started to properly read the Webtoon, but I swear there's no videos about this!)

(Deep sigh) you fucking fool. You just went through a giant emotional shock. That shit tends to take it outta you. Someone PLEASE explain how emotions work to this man!!!

I think my least favorite thing ever of all time is when I’m reading a fanfic and Basen and Lily are villains like NO my children would NEVER

It’s usually the case in OG Cale fanfic, now don’t get me wrong I love the guy but also his family was not all horrible, and Basen and Lily were NEVERRRR at fault. Lily is literally like, seven years old and Basen is fifteen neither of them hate their brother either. Any child wouldn’t know how to approach their older brother who doesn’t talk to them and is distant(+ is known for having a bad personality) like that isn’t their fault 😭😭

OG Cale distanced himself from his siblings to protect them, there’s no one to fault in this situation for things turning out this way because it happened due to so many combining circumstances. Like IDK! I just don’t like it when Lily and Basen are treated like bad people cause I just find it a bit ridiculous.

Basen and Lily could’ve tried talking to OG Cale, but the real question is if he would let them talk to him ykwim, his act was perfect with literally no flaws. The reason it worked so well was because no one KNEW him and he probably knew that part too. The sadness to their situation is that they all had their reasons and cared for eachother but there wasn’t really any communication

Tbh it should have been Deruth’s job to ask Cale what was wrong, he’s not like the worst father ever okay but he also has extreme communication issues! The Henituse’s middle name is practically ‘communication issues’ like none of them are very good at it I fear. Deruth clearly cares for his son a lot, but he doesn’t know how to approach Cale possibly out of guilt/fear he’ll hurt his son even more. Which is why he just let’s Cale do what he wants

I think it’s important to note that the family did have faith in Cale, they all knew he wasn’t a bad person but they were all just so distant from eachother. I don’t think Deruth would have offered KRS!Cale to go to the capital after like a weeks worth of changed behavior unless he knew that there was more to his son than what the public thought. Again I think the big issue with the Henituse family is their communication

The characters all have complicated dynamics and personalities and it’s just something I don’t like when everything is treated very one dimensional

Yknow what will always endear a character to me? Failure.

I'm so sorry, but if a character doesn't at least have one thing that they are horrible at in the sea of all their expertise, I don't want them. They can be competent, don't get me wrong, honestly I encourage them to be competent in their field all or most of the time. I just also want these characters to be boy/girl/etc failures. I wanna see these characters stumble, fumble so hard it's like watching a kitten losing a play fight and crying pathetically, I want them to be so confused about where to start that their face is a loading screen.

I don't care how strong this character is, its honestly better if they are strong or one of the best in their field. BUT show me them being horrible at crafts because they can't fold paper correctly and always make it uneven. Show me them not being able to swim even though they live near a bidy of water. Show me them being terrible at talking to people because they're too blunt or don't know how to comfort someone. Show me them failing at something all their peers see as common knowledge!!!

The caveat is that the character still has to try at these things though, I just want to see them stumble through something so simple you wonder what had to happen in their life that made them not know or know how to do a simple task.

I think, somewhere deep in my soul, I need a reaction fic that isn’t Cales coolest moments or his most traumatic backstory but just where his family sees him. They just see what he used to do in his daily life.

I need them to see how he was casually treated, how he treated the people around him. Who he was close to. Who he wasn’t.

Or I need his family to see his mistakes, big and small, and how he overcame them so they can know how he comes to the conclusions he does.

I want his family to see the life he lived before they met him so that Cale can really be SEEN.

Because we know from the POV’s we’ve gotten from other characters that Cale is seen as this incredible person, this pillar of unwavering support, but I need them to see Cale when he wasn’t.

When he needed that pillar of support that he became for his family.

I loved the vibe mikko brought specifically bc he's such a good player but the first thing people always mention about him is that he's nice. he's a hard worker, he's talented, but above all, he's friendly. He's kind. in the rise of mikko rantanen video Keefer talks about how Mikko is a star player but more than that his personality is great, he's fun. The journalists that work with the team gave him a homemade aware for putting up with them, and he immediately smiled and said, "No bitching, eh?" the videos where he gives that little kid a puck and then when she comes back to another game he gives her a stick... and the one where he trades a stick for finish candy and the more recent one where he signs a stick for a kid saying his new year resolution was to get a stick from mikko (spelled mico I love kids omg 😭😭 so cute) And I might have hallucinated this one but I swear there was a video where Cale got asked to describe Mikko in one word and his first answer was "nice". Almost every avs beat reporter and commentator made a post explaining how great of a guy he was, and how said they were to see him go. Even Cmac when explaining why they willingly gave up on him and traded him away stressed that Mikko was a wonderful person. Former teammates have come out to talk about how amazing he is, EJ reached out to people at the Canes to talk about how phenomenal he is as a player and a teammate. like. he's a huge sweetheart. i love him. Literally a once in a lifetime kind of player.

The funniest thing about cale going "i should have just let choi han beat me up" is that he could've just,,,, not said anything to choi han and let him bury the bodies and sent him on his way. It's a novel, the hero always ends up saving the world anyway, right?

That's the thing tho, the only reason tcf ended up going the route it did was because of Cale henituse as a person, this is his life and not just a narrative (if that makes any sense 😭). Sometimes characters get botched because of plot in other stories, but tcfs plot happens because of the characterization and that's beautiful

Tcf is a guidebook like TBOAH was

But it's not to save the world or something crazy like that

It's a guidebook to living and growing as a person

The characters learn to forgive themselves but take responsibility for what they've done

They experience loss and realize the importance of connection

Their ideals are different but they're still able to come together for an overarching goal

They respect who deserves to be respected, and return disrespect in kind

The characters value being alive, nobody wants to die unless they're in a situation like DBH where he thinks he don't deserve to be alive anymore

And even then DBH is given the right to live because his past doesn't have to dictate what he does for the rest of your life, he can change but he cannot erase his past.

Secondary characters need more love! o(>< )o (Part 3: Olienne)

Olienne is a character we all know but only because he was important to one of the protagonists.

Although their relationship is not delved into, the mere fact that Eruhaben was detained and had a time of mourning after discovering his death says it all (ಡ‸ಡ)

For a dragon that has lived 1000 years he should be used to death, but Olienne was different.

I like the idea that the two of them were close friends, not enough for it to be a Queerplatonic relationship but enough for them to leave traces on each other (*^^*)♡

(In fact, that's because I saw an interpretation like that in a fanfic and I loved it! Him being an otaku is an idea I had never seen before and I loved it.)

We don't know much about him in canon, but what we do know is that he was cheeky, he liked sculptures (he probably made them himself) and long baths, it took him fifteen years to be born and his attribute is wood, and it can be assumed that He was good at creating barriers.

I feel like he could have been used in a better way, his character is incredible and needs more depth but he could have complemented the family very well °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Perhaps over time he and Eruhaben could have improved their relationship, becoming a romantic or queerplatonic couple who would adopt Cale and Rosalyn as his children (o´∀`o)

Why Rosalyn? Because I feel that if Olienne is as shameless as Eruhaben says, seeing that he took Rosa as her apprentice, he could contribute and over time they would develop a fairly healthy father-daughter relationship ♡＼(￣▽￣)／♡

Besides, during the battle of the jungle vs the empire he could have helped Cale make the trees collect the dead mana or even shoot down the airship.

And without mentioning Apitoyu, I haven't read beyond chapter 1042 at the time of writing this post but Olienne's participation in the war against the purple blood dragons and the church of the holy empire already has me salivating with anticipation ☆ｏ(＞＜；)○
