"Ev." Blakely felt a jab at his shoulder, and turned to see Douglass looking grim. "The bombsight."

Blakely swore softly. "You seriously want to go back in for it? We're already lucky the plane didn't blow, Doug!"

"Something we can help you with, gentleman?" The sergeant was staring again, tall and serene against the backdrop of the trees, her rifle easy in her arms, cheeks rosy in the cold. "We need to get moving here."

"We need - there's a piece of equipment Major Douglass needs to take out of the plane, if we're going to leave her," Blakely said with caution. "Otherwise we're ordered to set fire to her."

"I'm not letting you light my forest on fire," the blonde said flatly. "It's bad enough out here where we still have cover. Go get your Norden." She snorted at Douglas' scandalized expression. "We're not all complete yokels in the infantry, Major. We do still get the papers out here." She looked around at the crew, thinking about something. "Flying Fortress carries fifty cal Brownings, doesn't it? You got any spare ammo for those, you can bring that out, too." She looked at the assembled faces behind her. "Heffron, O'Connell. Go help the major."

Bears Dominate #1 Navy On Homecoming

Cal Handles Midshipmen 47-24 In 2023 National Title Rematch

BERKELEY – Less than a week after beating Utah on the road and clinching another PAC title, California rugby put up a dominant 47-24 win over top ranked Navy, handing the Midshipmen their first loss of the season. The Golden Bears scored seven tries and two penalty kicks whilst holding Navy to only three tries and one penalty kick.   "We appreciate the Navy team, they have been on a significant run of well-earned victories and success. They are a well put together team," Cal head coach Jack Clark said. "I loved how determined our boys were today. We took our share of the lumps, but we fronted the challenge."     The Bears and the Mids traded possession over the first 10 minutes with neither team lighting up the scoreboard. Cal was on the attack and worked its way to five meters out from the goal-line. The forwards grinded out a couple of attacking phases before scrumhalf Solomon Williams swung it out to Joe Kirsten on the right wing who shot right into the tryzone with a score for the Bears. Kealan O'Connell converted to make it 7-0 and give Cal a lead it would never relinquish.     Williams added his name to the scoresheet just five minutes later when he stepped his way past a few Navy defenders for the Bears' second try of the day, and O'Connell added the extras. A few minutes later, the Bears then were awarded a penalty and opted for points off a penalty kick conversion to make it 17-0 in favor of Cal.

Eight minutes passed before the next scoring phase when Bears won an attacking lineout and Williams received the ball from Cal's jumper. He spotted a small gap between the Navy defense and took off running for Mids territory. He made it well past the 22-meter mark and offloaded to a supporting Hugo Schreuder who carried it in for a try, which O'Connell converted.   Navy was on the attack after the restart and worked its way to the goal-line, but Cal's stout defense held the Mids up to deny them a try. The two teams traded possession for the rest of the half, before Navy dotted down its first score of the day, and converted successfully to make it 24-7 at the intermission.   After the break, Navy made its way into scoring position and tried to pick-and-jam its way in for another score, but Cal's defense remained solid and denied the Mids another try at the goal-line. A few minutes later, Navy was back in the Bears' territory and scored a converted try to begin closing the gap.   After the restart, Cal was awarded another penalty and took points off O'Connell's boot. He sent the ball sailing between the posts to extend the Bears' lead. Navy put up a converted penalty kick a few minutes later, but the Bears answered quickly with Mack Fell finding the tryzone and dotting down another Cal score.   The Bears then scored two tries within two minutes, first sending the ball into the tryzone in the arms of Evan Weigold on the left wing. After the restart, the Bears recovered the ball and swung it out to Kirsten on the right side. He turned on the jets and outran the Navy defenders to carry in his second try of the day.   Navy managed to collect one more converted try at the 76 minute mark, but Cal had the last word with Oliver Newall finding space and outrunning all of Navy's defenders to carry in one more try for the Bears. With its win today, Cal improves to 10-2 on the season.

the man hollywood now knows as callum jack was born actually born as jackson o'conner, england, 1935.

for most of his childhood, jackson was the youngest brother. when he was twelve, his younger sister was born. his eldest brother was already out of the house and the other was freshly eighteen, so for the next several years it was just he and his younger sister.

their father was an impossible drunk. he had been drinking long before they ever knew about it, having fallen off the wagon sometime after his last child was born. he'd lost his job and their mother got a job as a makeup counter girl, which caused tension because his father felt embarrassed that he 'couldn't provide' for his family despite having two boys out of the house and less mouths to feed.

the abuse wasn't frequent, but there were several instances of "callum" getting into fist fights with his father as a teenager. he got into a trouble a lot at school because he'd always been kind of a little stinker, and his rebellion only grew as he did. he began to resent his father immensely and wanted to figure out a way that he could get both his mother and his sister away from him.

so basically YEAH he did it, but at a great personal cost. he started selling drugs at just 15 years old and began saving up money. little did he know that a local kingpin would take interest in him, becoming the father figure he never had.

over the next several years callum (still known as jack at that time) raised in the ranks until he was one of the most prominent drug lords in london. he made several hidden accounts where he stored millions of dollars, completely paying for his mother to have her own home. as far as his family knew, he had interned with a booming tech company and became a developer for expensive technology.

once he had enough authority and people underneath him, callum sent a group of his underlings to rough up his dad a bit. he wasn't too happy about his twenty year old paying for his divorce and rehousing his wife and his other child right underneath his nose and needed some encouragement to walk away from the situation.

around that same time callum met a girl. i'll go into more detail about this later but she was basically soft and troubled and too good for him but saw the best in him. you can probably already see where i'm going with this huh? so they were together for several years and he wanted to marry her, but when she found out about what he really did for a living she flipped out. if he wanted to be with her, he had to get out of the drug game for good. truthfully he had enough money stored in so many swiss accounts and in secured assets that it wasn't even a hard decision. he was ready to leave it all behind.

the girl, cecilia, was originally from ireland and they were going to go there together and live under the radar. callum knew too much, and he knew for him to get out of the game he was going to have to completely disappear.

tragedy struck when an 'anonymous tip' (his dad lol still bitter and abusive) came in on him the day before he was set to leave. the feds raided his house and there was a gun fight as the couple tried to flee. a bullet meant for callum flew right past him and into the back of the woman he loved, just as she was getting into their car. he managed to lift her into the car and drive away with her. they lost the police, but by the time he got to a hospital she was already gone.

because of all of the wealth he had hidden, he still remains fairly wealthy.

he got into the business of being an agent by chance after befriending an up and coming starlet that reminded him of his late fiance. he wanted to protect her from hollywood, maybe subconsciously trying to make up for having not protected cecilia.

other celebrities took notice of what a good agent he was to her, and the rest was history. 

over the last few years his reputation within the industry has grown astronomically. however, careful not to gain too much recognition from the public due to fear that he will be ID'ed, callum is very exclusive with his clientele. he picks them by hand and doesn't allow anyone to refer him by name to new clients.

people in the industry simply know him as 'the brit'; it's well known that pretty much anyone the brit represents is guaranteed success, but next to no one outside of his clients knows who exactly 'the brit' is -- and callum intends to keep it that way

Cal Scores Nine Tries In Road Win Over UCLA

LOS ANGELES – California rugby claimed a road win over UCLA to continue their perfect February with the Golden Bears routing the Bruins 66-12 at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. Cal now improves to 6-0 on the season.   The Golden Bears struck first in the contest when senior Pat Deely pick-and-jammed his way past the goal line to give the Bears an advantage they would never relinquish. Junior Kealan O'Connell added the extras, his first successful conversion en route to a perfect day of kicking.   On the Bears' next scoring possession, senior co-captain Will Shankland timed an offload to a supporting sophomore Max Threlkeld who carried the ball into the tryzone. After the restart, Cal was pushed back into its own territory, but went to work down the field and eventually put the ball in sophomore Rand Santos's hands, who beat a couple defenders before touching down a score.     Cal was quick to score again after the restart when senior Caleb Tomasin caught the kickoff and immediately went on the attack. Shankland got possession and spotted a gap in the Bruins' defense before taking off with a breakaway run from the 40-meter line all the way into the tryzone.   Cal dominated the scrum all afternoon and was awarded a penalty that allowed O'Connell to add a penalty kick to the scoresheet. O'Connell also went 4-for-4 on conversions in the first half to make it 31-0 in favor of the Bears at the intermission.   The Bears only needed 30 seconds after the start of the second half to light up the scoreboard again when Shankland found a gap and ran it down the field before offloading to senior Evan Weigold who carried the ball in. Four minutes later, Brett Dowgiewicz caught the ball at the back of a UCLA attacking lineout and took it straight to the tryzone for another Bear try.   The baby bears of UCLA managed to put a converted try on the scoresheet next, but Cal answered shortly after, swinging the ball out to Weigold on the left wing for a score. The Bruins won the next restart and snuck their way in the far corner for their second and final try of the day, but failed to convert the score.

Three minutes later, Cal was back on the attack and moved the ball through several sets of hands with precision passing before sending it across in the arms of sophomore Solomon Williams. Junior Joe Kirsten came off the bench and, on his first touch, made an impact, chipping the ball forward and beating the UCLA defenders to recover it and run it in for a try. O'Connell added the extras on all of Cal's scores to go 8-for-8 on conversion kicks.   "We appreciate UCLA rugby and the match they gave us," Cal head coach Jack Clark said. "They're a tough bunch."   In the reserve-grade match that followed, Cal beat UCLA 53-12.   Cal now returns home for its next contest, with the Bears set to take on BYU at Witter Rugby Field on Feb. 10.
