Open your eyes.
I gripped the both sides of the sink, my knuckles turning white.
She can't be dead. She isn't.
The ceremony starts in five minutes. People are already gathering in.
And here I am in the backstage bathroom throwing up my guts.
I stare at the mirror, slowly tilting my head up.
There, a sick looking man just stares back. The rings under his eyes striking out on dull white skin and bleak looking freckles. There's a bruise right in the middle of the bridge of his nose, black, red and purple. His hair is dishevelled as well as darker than he remembers. His tux clinging to his frame, the tie slanted and the buttons loose. Red smeared across his lips.
That man is me.
I turn on the faucet, watching the crimson mixing with clear water as it spirals down the drain.
I cupped up some water and splashed it on my face, cold drenching my skin while it trickled down. I dry my face off with my suit's sleeve, erasing the blood and matting off the water.
I glanced back at myself, my eyes narrowing.
"I hate you," I hissed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People are beginning to take their seats now. I recognize a few people in the front row.
Cassidy, wearing a black gown and a tinted veil over her face. Her sea green eyes looking weary and bleak while her husband, Robert, whispered words of comfort and put his arm over her shoulder.
Like that's gonna bring her sister back, jackass.
Clifford, a sort of friend of mine, came as well. He's sitting next to Robert. His suit is a dark grey, looking well cleaned up, considering this guy couldn't give a damn about his appearance most of the time.
Florence also came. Her face looked upset and overwhelmed by sadness. She's wearing a black dress, white gloves and a black rose in her brown hair.
Weird. How do you grieve for a person you've never met?
Charlie's parents are here, sitting on the second bleacher in the front row. Their faces weathered from time, but now chiselled from grief. Her mother won't stop crying.
As people settle down, their voices hushed, the pastor began to speak. Something about her resting in peace and God is watching over her.
Behind the curtain, I visibly scowl.
He's lying. She isn't resting in peace. She isn't watched over by God. If God really was watching, he wouldn't have let this happen.
She was too young. Too smart. And yet too naive at the same time.
"Stop it, stop it, just stop it..!" I whispered under my breath as he continued.
"-may we all grieve for the loss of Charlie Forester. A good friend. A precious daughter-"
"No...no...stop it. You didn't even know her..!" I hissed quietly from behind the blue curtain. I can feel my nails digging into the palms of my hands.
"-and a wonderful sister," the man said, his voice steady as his words echoed through the church.
I froze, feeling like I've been hit in the stomach. My eyes are stinging. My heart is heavy and my chest is way too tight.
I can't breathe and I can't cry.
I can't cry.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He finished his speech with a few prayers. His prayers are interrupted by quiet sniffles and a few whimpers from Charlie's mother. Does he stops and assures them? As a man of God, surely he cares for his people?
Nope. Just keeps on going with his worthless prayers.
Some prayers bring comfort to folks.
I don't judge. But to folks like me? They never really did.
He's finally done and motions me onto the stage.
I take a deep breath and walk slowly to the front of the stage, replacing the pastor. My figure was bathing in the light above while all eyes were now turned to me.
I can hear a few whispers.
"-he isn't suppose to be up there-"
"-not even related to the family."
"-looks a little young-"
I tense, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone. My heart is now rattling against my rib cage.
I cleared my throat, my voice a little rough, "Charlie Forester was someone very dear to me. We weren't siblings by blood, but by a deep bond. And it brings me great...pain..to.." I trailed off.
What's happening?
Sweat beads down my forehead and my knees feel weak.
Stop it.
I continue on, "To have her gone. To have her ripped away from the people she loved and treasured. Even if...even if some of those people didn't deserve her love and time." My tone is still rough, but now it's unsteady.
My vision is blurred at the ends, fogging up almost like glass. The tips of my hands feel numb.
Stop it. Please.
My heart wants out. It's gripping my rib cage like prison bars and won't stop tugging on them, tearing at them. My lungs are getting too clustered and my face feels flushed.
I can't breathe. I can't cry. I can't feel my legs.
I watch as Cassidy looks at me with concern in her puffy eyes beneath the veil.
Clifford's mouthing something at me. Reassurance, maybe? I can't tell.
It's not that I haven't practice this speech. I practiced all the damn time before this day. Even in front of Jack.
I wish Jack was here. Here so he could tell me everything was alright. Here so that he could hug me and comfort me. "It's alright to cry, Hudson," he'd say.
But he isn't here to say that.
The pastor is whispering something to me. I think.
He places a hand on my shoulder.
Don't touch me.
"Are you alright, my son?" He asked.
Do I look alright?
"She's in god's realm. Resting peacefully," he assured me, his hand still resting calmly on my shoulder.
God's realm, my ass.
"Would you like to say a prayer for her now?"
I clenched my fists.
No.
...
I swung my fist, my vision still blurred.
Thud. Gasps. Yells. Heavy breathing.
Two men drag me away from my arms before I can finish the job.
Cassidy's telling me to stop.
Clifford looks horrified.
Florence is sympathetic.
And Jack would probably be disappointed.
They're yelling at me. The men behind me. Their grip forceful as they drag me off stage. Away from the pastor, who's also being dragged away. Not for the reason you might think.
I try and shrug their hands off my shoulders, thrashing as something streams down my face.
I'm crying. Yelling. Screaming.
She didn't deserve to die. She couldn't be dead.
My lungs are begging for air and my heart is still enraged.
My throat burns.
. . .

Noboa has continued to weather controversy about the limits of his authority through the end of his latest campaign. Ecuador’s constitution requires that public officials take a leave of absence to run for re-election. But Noboa instead signed two executive decrees to avoid transferring power to his vice president, Veronica Abad, with whom he is feuding. Just this week, the Constitutional Court of Ecuador declared both unconstitutional. After the ruling, the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), a powerful Indigenous rights coalition, blasted Noboa for treating the presidency like “a private hacienda”. “No authoritarian manoeuvre can hide the truth: Noboa's government is riddled with irregularities, abuses and contempt for democracy,” CONAIE wrote in a statement. “We have never trusted this government,” the acting president of CONAIE, Zenaida Yasacama, told Al Jazeera. “As a woman, his treatment of his vice president has hurt me.” Zenaida Yasacama, the acting president of CONAIE, an Indigenous organisation, expressed concern about Daniel Noboa's government [Mie Hoejris Dahl/Al Jazeera] Still, Noboa has campaigned for a second, full term on the basis that he will declare war against “the old politics” of Ecuador. On advertisements, Noboa stands in a white T-shirt against a purple background, next to slogans for “one single round” — an appeal to voters to make Sunday’s victory so massive, no run-off election is needed. It’s a pointedly informal look, one designed to appeal to Ecuador’s younger generations. Garcia Nice explained that young voters are particularly fond of Noboa. Some even carry cardboard cut-outs of the leader. In a country where the average voting age is 28 and 16-year-old teenagers are eligible to vote, that demographic could provide a significant advantage at the polls. Yet, Noboa’s charisma as a young leader will only take him so far, Hurtado warned. If he succeeds in winning a full four-year term this year, he will no longer enjoy the benefit of the doubt that comes with being a relative newcomer to politics. “If he doesn’t resolve the country’s big challenges, his popularity will decline,” Hurtado said. atOptions = 'key' : '6c396458fda3ada2fbfcbb375349ce34', 'format' : 'iframe', 'height' : 60, 'width' : 468, 'params' : ;

'well' honey🍯 yah know what 'they' say:
⛈️"when it rains, it pours" 🌊👹-
13NOV24👺 'Amid Power Outage, Conaie Announces Marches in Its Territories Starting Friday November 15-
💪🏼
On November 13, 2024, the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie) announced the beginning of a mobilization process leading to a major popular uprising against the government of Daniel Noboa.
As previously announced, on November 13, the Conaie gathered in Quito and declared plans to mobilize on the streets to protest against the Noboa government. However, these marches will first take place within their own territories rather than at a national level.
The Indigenous movement met with representatives of the so-called People's Assembly, a coalition of various social organizations.
After over an hour of discussion, it was agreed that starting November 15, several protests would be held in different provinces.
“It cannot be that, right in front of the Armed Forces and state institutions, a dictatorship is being established in this country,” stated Conaie President Leonidas Iza, shortly before the room went dark due to a scheduled power outage in that area of the capital.
Furthermore, it was announced that Conaie would begin a process of building and organizing for a major popular uprising against the government.
The leaders gathered in Quito opted not to specify an exact date for the protests, aiming to preserve the "element of surprise," as they argued.
They claimed that there are calls from various sectors of the public for the Indigenous movement to take to the streets against Noboa's administration, in response to several issues, including Ecuador’s ongoing electricity crisis.
One day before Conaie’s announcement, the United Workers’ Front (FUT) had also called for national protests across Ecuador, scheduled for November 21.
Conaie’s Demands
The Conaie meeting in Quito will continue on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 13, behind closed doors. However, some resolutions and demands have already been discussed and will be presented to the government, such as:
- Requiring the government to cancel a $5 million advertising contract and allocate those funds to pay outstanding debts to dialysis clinics.
- Initiating immediate actions to collect outstanding amounts from the five main debtors to the Internal Revenue Service, totaling $264 million.
- Ensuring transparency in all ongoing electrical contracting processes.
- Taking immediate action to eradicate illegal mining, as a real measure to protect the environment and water sources.
- Urging the Armed Forces to uphold an unwavering commitment to the Constitution.
- Guaranteeing job stability.
- Maintaining a fair price for milk across the country.
- Immediate withdrawal of the Comprehensive Agrarian Code.
On the FUT
Iza, who is also a presidential candidate for Pachakutik, acknowledged conceptual differences with the United Workers' Front and its allied organizations, such as the Popular Front.
However, he emphasized that they align on the fundamental issue of popular struggle, which paves the way for unity and national solidarity.
Iza did not confirm or deny the Indigenous movement’s participation in the national march called by the FUT for November 21. However, he encouraged Conaie’s provincial bases to join the sit-ins and demonstrations that unions will hold on November 15 to commemorate Ecuador’s first national workers' strike.
Tension
The event took place in a hostile atmosphere, with some attendees hurling insults at the press.
“Corrupt press,” “liars,” “paid off,” “thieves,” “get out of here,” were among the shouts from individuals blending into the crowd.
Iza had to step in to stop the hostility. “I ask for respect. We will not attack the media. Any interpretation is possible. I ask for calm in the assembly of the people,” said the leader." -

The global demand for Argan Oil was valued at USD 87815.2 Million in 2023 and is expected to reach USD 470384.6 Million in 2032, growing at a CAGR of 20.50% between 2024 and 2032.
The argan oil market is a specialized and rapidly growing segment within the broader natural oils industry, driven by the increasing global demand for natural and organic products. Argan oil, derived from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa), is highly valued for its unique composition of fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins, making it a sought-after ingredient in both the cosmetic and food industries. The market is particularly prominent in regions such as North America, Europe, and the Middle East, where consumers are increasingly inclined towards natural and sustainably sourced products.

Environmental information on packaging labels continues to grow
The fourth IdentiPack report from the Conai and Gs1 Italy observatory has been published.
In Italy, information on the type of packaging and correct disposal in separate waste collection is already present on 50% of products on the shelves, while more than 44% of grocery products contain the identification coding of the composition material. According to the fourth report by IdentiPack,[1] the national observatory on environmental labelling, in the last year on the national market, the products that carry environmental information relating to packaging are constantly increasing.
Encouraging data, especially regarding the environmental information mandatory from January 2023. From the analysis of over 136,000 consumer products, indications on the type of packaging and correct disposal in separate waste collection appear for 50% of those on the shelf with an increase by +3.2% compared to the previous year and for 74.4% of those actually sold (+2.6%). “It is proof that companies have responded effectively in adapting to the new legislation”, comments Ignazio Capuano, president of Conai, “the gradual increase in packaging that communicates environmental information on the label represents a great change, it is not just a question of complying with an obligation, but also of having understood how important it is to communicate environmentally also through packaging".[2]
The result of the collaboration between Conai (National Packaging Consortium) [3] and Gs1 Italy[4], one of the Gs1 non-profit organizations that promote the use of the most used standards in the world for communication between companies, the Observatory monitors the presence of environmental information on packaging labels released for consumption in Italy. In this fourth half-yearly report, the situation relating to the packs available on the shelf and then purchased by the consumer is photographed, segmenting them based on the departments they belong to, with the contribution of market data from NielsenIQ[5].
The survey revealed 60,246 products that present packaging with the identification coding of the material, pursuant to Decision 129/97/EC. A quantity that corresponds to 44.1% of the total references on the grocery shelf (which grew by 5.3% in the last year) and 68.5% of the total packages sold (+3.8% compared to the previous year). previous). In addition to the information required by law, the IdentiPack report also shows that as many as 10,399 references (7.6% of the total products on the shelves in large-scale distribution and approximately 11% of the packages sold) contain voluntary environmental brands and information. Among the product sectors analysed, the cold sector confirms its leadership in the communication of mandatory environmental information on packaging, with ice cream and frozen foods standing out due to the incidence of products bearing the identification coding of the material on the label, in addition to indications on the type of packaging. and on the correct disposal in separate waste collection. Meats take second place for the presence of information on the identification coding of the material. Good performance for fresh products that took third place for the communication of information on the identification coding of the material and second in the field of information on the correct transfer of packaging to separate waste collection.
“In the era of sustainability”, underlines Bruno Aceto, CEO of Gs1 Italy, “IdentiPack represents an irreplaceable tool for following how the communication of this topic evolves on the labels of consumer products sold in Italy. Its value and uniqueness are also based on its broad and representative statistical base: that of the Imagine Observatory, made up of over 136 thousand products digitized by the Imagine service of Gs1 Italy Servizi, which detects all the indications and claims present on the label , creating and keeping updated a unique database in Italy to monitor the consumer shopping cart and understand its trends and evolutions".
