The Adventure Zone is so funny with regard to the boys’ interactions with Clint because sometimes they’re like “what do you think Daddy?” or “whoa Daddy that was so cool!” and other times it’s “I’ve told you this so many times old man you have a microphone, if you yell again I’m evicting you”
I’m really enjoying the new series of The Adventure Zone it’s 100% my shit as I love dracula and the mcelroys! I particularly love Lady Godwin because let’s be honest i love a barbarian. Justin’s lady Godwin voice is also just so funny to me! It’s honestly such a fun show and the mad character concepts really pushed my character designs to be more silly and expressive!
Made some slight edits to brother phileaux from my wip because I thought it’d be cute if he was wearing his cowl in his puppet form.
TAZ vs. Dracula is great because it opens with a horse-drawn carriage chase. In a later episode someone is chastised for double parking their Hyundai Elantra. There are magic light sources and the DJ at the Werehouse is surrounded by electronic music equipment. Everybody thinks the Invisible Man is an asshole. Justin tried to take body shots off of another horse in order to bite it and no longer be a werehorse. Clint basically murdered his character only a couple episodes in despite being told not to do what would kill him. Scenes of light body horror inclination are set to baroque music. Travis finally has a dog
you know it’s a classic clint move when it makes griffin go “OKAY MAN SURE MAN YEAH MAN YEAH BUD FOR SURE NO PROBLEM DEFINITELY PLANNED ON THAT YESSIR!”
this is gonna make me a bit genuinely sad to say, but i haven't listened to the adventure zone balance since maybe 2020. episodes here and there, yes, but not listening to it. it's my heart, it introduced me to dnd, my first girlfriend, and those goddamn brothers. i have a point with this post, i swear.
i listen/watch a lot of dnd now and play it with my closest friends. ive watched 17 seasons of dimension 20, not another d&d podcast genuinely changed my life in a way im not even gonna get into, last summer i survived a remote island with my family through dungeons and daddies, i even got into dungeons and dragons and social distancing from watcher for a while. i play d&d with my closest friends, i kept in contact with one of my only high school friends through d&d, and i met my best friend in the entire world through a game. the adventure zone means the world to me. i haven't listened to it since 2020
all this to say—every wednesday i tune in to dropout and every week i turn on my naddpod playlist and i hear someone say, i cast... and then think about what they're gonna cast. and every single time (not voluntarily mind you, not like an inside joke with myself, just on pure instinct, an echo in my mind) i hear him...
honestly all of the mcelroy fam podcasts are comfort podcasts here's why:
-sawbones feels like you're on a long car ride with justin and syd and you asked a question about something and now syd's on a tangent about medical history and you're fuckin fascinated
-wonderful feels like you woke up early on family vacation and griffin and rachel asked you to hang out with them because the three of you are the only ones up and so now you're sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee and thinking up reasons to live
-taz feels like listening to your brothers and dad play dnd while you sit on the couch and play animal crossing
