A: Visit to the Filming Set (2023)
"I visited the set of Playful Woman. I visited with the production company CEO and greeted the director and actors.
Because the weather was hot, we also sent a coffee truck to cheer them on. I went with Jun-soo and only Jun-soo took a certification photo…lol
The production company's PDs kindly guided me around the set so I was able to tour it all.
I didn't take any pictures because I was worried that someone might appear for an unreleased drama, but I looked around Ji-hwan's house, Go Yang-hee's office, Mi-ho's house, etc, and it was all so interesting.
I used to watch a lot of outdoor filming when I was a drama fan, but this is my first time on a set….
Ji-hwan's office and home really smell like a Romance male lead. Meow’s office was luxurious. Actually, seeing the appreciation plaque with Go Yang-hee's name on it was kind of amazing hahaha
(I will delete spoilers from below on haha)
On this day, Ji-hwan, Eun-ha, Dong-hee, and Il-young were on set.
Unfortunately, I guess Mi-ho and Hyun-woo actors didn't have any filming that day, and I was curious about Yena too...And the actor who played Miho's father is someone I like, so I was sad that I couldn't see him ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
First, I greeted the actors, watched them film, and got their autographs during the intermission after the scene ended.
First of all, our Eun-ha, Han Seon-hwa.
We happened to be filming a scene where Eunha was just throwing her heart out to Jihwan, and she was really pretty and good at it! He said it was amazing seeing the original author for the first time haha.
Before I met Uhm Tae-goo, I knew from entertainment shows that he was very shy, so I tried not to talk to him lol, but contrary to my expectations(?), he welcomed me very warmly.
When he signed it, he said, “I’m a lot smaller than you thought in the original…” (ㅠ_ㅠ) “No, you’re so cool!” I said that and I meant it lol.
He looks great on screen, but he's really cool in person.
I didn't get to tell you, but at the beginning of this year, I was actually wishing for Taegu Eom to have a huge success…
By the way, TMI but my husband's name is Uhm Tae-*, so Mr. Uhm Tae-goo is like no one else lol.
The next autograph is actor Yang Hyun-min, who plays the role of Jae-soo among the group.
Actually, the names and lineup of the characters are different from the original, lol. At first, I didn't know what their roles were. Sorry.
"But this author is a washout huh? I asked, and he was surprised and said, "The author is the best... How could I possibly say the author is a washout..."ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
I also got the autograph of DKZ Jaechan, who plays Donghee.
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Among the writers I'm close with, there's someone who enjoyed Jae-chan's dramas, so I had to brag about it, so I looked for Jae-chan's autograph diligently, and he was resting on a chair that looked like a male protagonist (you'll know him if you watch it on TV). Actually, before this Junsu came back from the bathroom and said, "There are two really handsome guys in the bathroom." I found out that one of them was Jaechan. As expected of a professional idol, he was really pretty and handsome.
The last one is Il-young, actor Kim Hyun-jin, who I loved the most in the original work.
He's really handsome, of course, and his tall height and his face is… small. Lol.
Since there is a tall person in my family, most people don't think as tall, but found out that I am really tall… and later I looked up his profile and found out that I am 189cm tall.
Anyway, our Il-young is cool from the visual standpoint. He said he hasn't signed much yet and was wondering what to write as a comment, so I just said, "I love you", and he really did lol. Now that look, he even drew a heart.
Il-young should've just been mine… I made him get with Mi-ho for nothing (groaning)
I greeted you warmly and finished my visit to the filming set.
The production company gave me the script for episode 12 as a gift. My name is also printed beautifully on the cover :) I originally thought it was going to be 12 episodes, but they said it was going to be 16 episodes.
I hope the remaining filming goes well, and I also want to see you on TV soon."
.
B. Watching Episode 2 Live (2024)
"While Jun-soo and I were watching the 2nd episode, the food poisoning milk episode came up.
I had a feeling from the moment Eunha ran into the hospital- "Now the mothers will throw milk at Eun-ha and Ji-hwan will block it with his body XD"
"Of course Mom would know because Mom wrote it."
"No, no that's not something I wrote. It's an episode created by a drama writer."
"But how do you know?"
"Mom has a knack for romance lol"
But I wonder what happens when I close my eyes and count to ten. Will he handle the parents while counting to ten...
I'm curious so I'll watch next week too.
Let’s all watch together hehe"

Korean drama recommendation!
Television series Extraordinary Attorney Woo written by Moon Ji-Won, directed by Yoo In-Sik
Type: Series
Episodes: 16
Duration per episode: Average of 1 hour and 17 minutes
Aired: June 29th, 2022
Network: ENA
Theme: Legal/Law
Genre: Legal, Romance, Drama, Mystery, Politics, Life
Synopsis:
Woo Young-woo, a lawyer with autism who is raised by her single father, grrows up with one friend at school, Dong Geu-ra-mi, an oddball girl who protects her from school bullies. She graduates at the top of her law school class at Seoul National University. Because she's autistic, no one will hire her. However, through a connection of her father's, she obtains her first job at Hanbada, a large Seoul law firm. Attorney Woo's intelligence and photographic memory help her to become an excellent lawyer, as she is able to recall laws and everything she reads, sees, or hears perfectly. Being different from neurotypical peers, her manner of communication is initially seen as odd and awkward, and her strong emotional intelligence remains unrecognized. But as the series progresses, many of the people she meets, such as her supervising lawyer, Jung Myung-seok, her law school classmate and peer, Choi Su-yeon, and legal support staffer Lee Jun-ho adjust to her as she learns her craft as a rookie attorney. But she also encounters people who are prejudiced against her and others with disabilities. Many of the legal cases in the series involve finely balanced legal issues and sometimes difficult ethical questions. Attorney Woo's approach is often unique and helps resolve cases in unexpected ways. One storyline about Young-woo's parents runs through the series and involves the rivalry between two major law firms, both chaired by female attorneys, Han Seon-young, CEO of Hanbada, and Tae Soo-mi, CEO of Taesan. Another theme that runs through the series is Young-woo's strong interest in whales and other marine mammals. Her tendency to analogize situations she faces in her professional and private life with the lives and characteristics of whales and dolphins often surprises and confounds the people who surround her. Her eureka moments often coincide with fantasizing about these creatures.
For me, Extraordinary Attorney Woo was an adventure. It's funny because I was so hesitant about it at first, but it had truly become a safe space; There wasn't a second where I felt uncomfortable. I loved the representation—it did not just focus on the neurodivergent society—it wasn't just about how the main character Young-woo was autistic, but it also showed all these other people with each their atypical personalities. The show had introduced this another autistic character, who's not as gifted like Young-Woo, and it really felt right because I've had people ask autistic people: "You're autistic? But you don't think like Einstein, how's that?" So yeah, that's one of my favourite highlights. It really showed the meaning of spectrum. And OUR spectrum, all of us' spectrum. It showed diversity. It was fun. I feel like this is the only ever show that managed to represent a LOT of communities in one plot. And sitting through every episode definitely made me understand the world more, and you know, maybe it made me a bit better as a person too?

Extraordinary Attorney Woo: Thoughts on episodes 15-16 (spoilers!)
All good things must come to an end. Now that the dust has settled in my brain after my third watch (lol), let's unpack this week's two-part season finale (spoiler alert!)
First of all, writer Moon Ji-won and her team sure know how to weave metaphors and imagery like it's nothing I've ever seen in a K-drama. Definitely her strong suit. Some are blatant while others are so subtle most people miss it without a rewatch. Seriously, I could name several off the top of my head and I've probably missed twice as much. But let's focus on those present in eps 15-16.
I want to start with the introduction and characterization of Young-woo's half-brother Choi Sang-hyeon. Love her or hate her, I can't wait to see how brilliant Tae Su-mi actually is considering she's 2 for 2 in giving birth to geniuses. In his first scene in ep 15 alone, we are told that Sang-hyeon and Young-woo are alike yet different.
Throughout the show, circles have been associated with Young-woo. The title credits, the little details Young-woo's room, her headphones, the revolving door, Young-woo's name in hangul (우영우), even Dong Geurami (whose name means 'circle')! But what about Sang-hyeon?
It's all squares with this kid, who mirrors the opening credits in ep 16. And they both love gimbap! Perhaps even for the same reason that they like to see every detail of the thing they're dealing with (Young-woo with the law and whales, Sang-hyeon with computers). Better yet, they share a tendency to lean towards what's morally right, socially just and transparent, despite being in fields that are known to exploit people who aren't well-versed in their complexities.
I definitely like how he didn't take his frustrations out on Young-woo, instead assumed that she would understand him better than their mother, and he was right. I wonder what he sees during his Eureka moments, but we'll have to wait for season 2 to hopefully find out.
====
Now let's talk about this case. I can't tell you how much I LOVE that ep 15 started with spear phishing. It brought me back to this moment from ep 6 so fast I could almost feel the wind coming and hear the whales jumping. (Sorry for the noob gif quality)
Once we learn who the baby whale in question is, we're compelled to ask if Tae Su-mi is willing to make the same decision twice. And while she was ready to bury it to save her candidacy, she ultimately lets Sang-hyeon out himself as the hacker and participate in the trial, putting her political ambitions at an end - or more likely on hold.
The hunter/ress throwing the harpoon in this case, you guessed it, is Han Seon-yeong. Throughout the show, CEO Han seemed to be playing a game with CEO Tae, though the latter didn't seem to acknowledge the game at all. Where CEO Han spends most of her jealousy-driven time thinking of how to take her rival down, CEO Tae doesn't pay her as much attention, instead preferring to use her energy on her next professional conquest. Sound familiar?
The result for CEO Han is lukewarm. Tae Su-mi isn't outed (yet) for having a child out of wedlock and manages a relatively graceful exit from her nomination, Young-woo gets to keep her peace, Sang-hyeon is publicly disgraced but keeps his dignity and honor. So far, Han's bark has been louder than her bite. She's never made any significant contribution to the cases she injected herself into. Whereas CEO Tae would have won the Seodok-dong case if it weren't for Young-woo's genius. Maybe she held back because of her humanity towards the innocent parties. On the other hand, she could also be waiting for a bigger scandal to take her rival down for good. In that case, we have reason to expect her to be the antagonist in Season 2, though I would have liked to see more hints scattered prior to ep 16 apart from the deleted scene in ep 8.
With Sang-hyeon now in her orbit, I'm looking forward to more brother-sister interactions in Season 2. Choi Hyun-jin did a great job with his portrayal (am I the only one who likes his eyes?). There was some tightrope walking between sinister and brilliant going on there, his introduction felt like a scene from "Juvenile Justice". Bravo.
====
Last week, I told you (!) that Young-woo and Jun-ho would be endgame. All because it was hinted by the case, the monk, and the dialogue during the breakup, among others, that they were both capable of looking beyond the surface of their problems.
I also said that Young-woo shouldn't be so criticized for letting go of him without a proper explanation at the time because she was trying to be selfless (for a change, or so she thought). So this week, we got another metaphor from Jun-ho this time about unrequited love for a cat, but that it's okay because the owner is happy with the cat just being there no matter how selfish the cat can be sometimes. Message received, and our whale couple is back together.
While I'm very happy that we were not given the 2521 treatment, the execution of this storyline leaves a bit to be desired. It's the same issue I've had with it since ep 11, in that they've been cutting the scenes so abruptly, especially those filmed near Young-woo's house. The scene where Young-woo finally tells Jun-ho her reason for the breakup and then it just holds the pause after she bows then that's it. I know they probably didn't want to cram more progress into ep 15 and focus more on the trial scenes but it resulted in some uneven storytelling.
Btw, I adore that scene where he gets all defensive when the Taesan messenger startles Young-woo but he doesn't pry. Kang Tae-oh was just majestic. Though this was something that Young-woo's dad could have seen so he'd give her a nudge to say Jun-ho may be right for her after all. Another could be the hospital fiasco, where instead of driving off with douchebag Attorney Jang, Jun-ho could have been caught on camera shielding Young-woo from the press, leading her dad to the same conclusion. Although driving off was one way to show that he can also make poor snap judgments and that's ok. I know I'm getting nitpicky but I just wish there was something so their makeup on the way to the trial could have a little more meat. But all is well since we got the result we wanted.
====
Should I even write about (still trash, now compostable) Kwon Min-woo and my girl Choi Su-yeon at this point? They really went the route of "let's introduce a worse character so the guy you hate doesn't look half bad". I mean Attorney Jang is where Min-woo would be if left unchecked after about 15+ years. I'm okay with redemption arcs, I really am. I just hate when they happen overnight or when they're being given out like candy.
And while I don't underestimate nor belittle the things love can make you do, I can't get on the "I can change him" trope. It's so beneath the Su-yeon that we know. And it taints the sincerity of Min-woo's 'change' in that every good deed he does from here on is based on pleasing her and not because it's the right thing to do. He's lucky she has a great moral compass. The attempt at fistbumping Young-woo was just cringe. Would he have done that if Su-yeon hadn't been there? Exactly.
If the writer's intention was to keep his suspiciousness, then mission accomplished. I won't be surprised if they break up and he regresses to his old ways, or he regresses then they break up. If the goal was to transform him into a loveable character, then I just hope he's given a chance in season 2 to make morally sound decisions (at his expense) while he and Su-yeon are apart. It's the only way to get him back on track. I've been very critical, but seeing how things turned out, I'm optimistic we the audience will get the storyline we deserve next season.
====
Lastly, I like how Jung Myeong-seok's reconciliation with his ex-wife was left open-ended and dependent on how ready he would be to leave Hanbada for good. But even if he left the firm, old habits die hard. He may choose to represent less affluent clients like the temple, but his devotion to his work could make him relapse (in more ways than one). It would be interesting to see him slowly shift into someone a little more like Attorney Ryu from ep 12 and even work with her for a change. Better yet, start a firm with his babies and take on social justice cases going head to head with Taesan and Hanbada like David v. Goliath. It's another way to see what both CEOs are really made of once Young-woo takes off with her real family.
And that's where the season ends. Where the first episode only had one floating whale during Young-woo's commute, the conclusion showed several as she no longer feels alone.
Overall, I still think the two-part season finale was more than satisfactory with enough room to elaborate in season 2. I'm excited to see what's in store for Young-woo and co. now that the writer and producers have at least 2 years to figure out the best way to continue this extraordinary saga. Until the next Whoa Whoa Wednesday!
Check out my midseason (episodes 1-8) review, thoughts on episodes 11-12 and 13-14.

I'm so glad about the message this show imparts about it's two powerful women.
Hanbada CEO Han Seon Young and Taesan CEO Tae Su Mi.
The world (including us viewers) expected the absolute worse from them both.
For Han Seon Young to reveal Tae Sumi's secret about Young Woo and subsequently ruin both their lives. And for Tae Sumi to throw our Young Woo under the bus when the spotlight hits her past.
But.... They didn't. Neither of them did that.
Now I realise that Han Seon Young did have the intention and she basically extorted Young Woo's dad but when push came to shove she did give Tae Sumi and her son a chance inadvertently giving Young Woo a chance to mend her somewhat fragile relationship with her mom while helping her brother as well.
Tae Sumi too stepped up (ironic) by stepping down from her position and doing tbe right thing for her son and daughter both. Yes I realise that she was persuaded by Young Woo and her confrontation to be a good mom to her brother but Tae Su mi actually did it.
Neither of them are the best people / characters in the show and I acknowledge that.
But, I respect that they both took the widely less messed up path and did the morally okayish thing.

Before I dive into fan opinion on the ending, I want to write my own thoughts. First, I loved being surprised that they did a total fake out and turned the expected bad outcome completely on its head. A loud part of my brain kept going, “the bad tropey ending seems so obvious right now, they absolutely cannot go with that because they know we’re dreading it… right? Right?” I love having nearly all my fears being unfounded. I love that this ending was so full of hope and open possibilities. And while there are some writing decisions I don’t agree with (mainly how Suyeon and Minwoo were written—not their outcome but how they got there) I still enjoy how the show left us with optimistic endings for everyone (except Tae Su Mi and her rival CEO Han Seon Young of course—they’re gonna be back in season 2 for sure). There’s so much yet to explore in season 2, and I’m optimistic, as long as Kang Tae Oh comes back, that it’ll be a good second season. I also really hope Youngwoo’s half-brother, Choi Sang Hyeon, comes back for season 2! There’s so much left to explore with that dynamic!
And I hope Myung Seok really takes his ex-wife’s advice and just starts his own firm! That they even planted that idea in the script makes me so excited that it might actually happen! Episode 12 really gave so many of us hope that Youngwoo would go to a smaller firm like Ryu Jae Sook’s, and then episode 14 showed how Myung Seok chose to care about people and justice rather than just defending whatever client for the biggest profit—and he passed that on as a mentor to Suyeon, Minwoo, and Youngwoo (which happened because Youngwoo cared so much about finding those meat noodles her mentor loved!) The show slowly got its characters on a path to a better way than only caring about winning/working under a big company that only cares about profit, and that was so beautiful to me. All these little seeds of growth are there, and I hope season 2 carries them out. Really the show set itself up beautifully for a second season, I’m so happily surprised.
As for Junho and Youngwoo, there’s definitely so much material left for a season 2. His family’s reaction to Youngwoo is definitely going to be in there. I’ve never watched a season 2 of any kdrama, so I’m not sure what anyone is expecting, but I hope the second season allows their love to grow even stronger (and they get way more scenes together!) and that we get Youngwoo in a wedding dress that’s actually hers before the season ends (one that doesn’t feel like it’s covered in labels—maybe she doesn’t wear a traditional dress at all! I can definitely see Youngwoo as not going for a traditional wedding). This first season was all about them discovering their feelings for each other and getting over the initial hurdles—I really want Junho to step up and be the defense against all the ableist bullshit that Youngwoo needs. The conflict brought up with the sister (and by extension Junho’s parents) was never really finished, and so that seems the natural continuation of their storyline for season 2.
Oh but please let there be so many moments of them discovering things as a couple! Exploring Junho’s interests together as well as Youngwoo’s! Youngwoo going to Junho’s apartment! Them discussing their future as a couple! Junho learning who her half-brother is and them meeting! Guerami teasing Junho mercilessly! Minwoo being genuinely supportive of his roomie’s relationship and saying more than two nice words to Youngwoo! I’m not asking for much, season 2 please give it to me!

The Co-Founder and CEO of Ajaib Group Anderson Sumarli explained that Ajaib chose Kim Seon-Ho alias Han Jipyeong as a Brand Ambassador because his character in Start Up was able to inspire millennials in Indonesia to start investing.
The reason is, the character Han Jipyeong is described as a successful young person even though he comes from an orphanage, and he achieved success with hard work and started investing from school. He said the character Han Jipyeong was the right person to represent that success and financial independence can be achieved at a young age by starting to invest, regardless of background or social status.

A first love that was never meant to be the last
Start-Up (episodes 1 - 16)
One’s first love is always perfect until one meets one’s second love.
As I started Start-Up, I couldn’t help but notice how much hate was thrown at the first male lead in my social media and the overwhelming preference over the second male lead and I was very curious as to why. Unlike my other posts which focused on one or two episodes (or aspects) of the show, I started writing this post in my head with the intent to finish the entire show before fully making up my mind about the characters.
The first episode could not have set out a better story of first love between the young and lonely Seo Dal-mi (Heo Jung-eun, later portrayed by Bae Suzy) and the young and broken Han Ji-pyeong (Nam Da-reum, later portrayed by Kim Seon-ho). Except, Seo Dal-mi was unaware of the fact that her first love is an orphan and was made to think it was an intelligent boy, living a perfect life, named Nam Do-san. From the very first episode, you can see how the writers have tried to make the audience fall in love with Han Ji-pyeong, a sensitive, “good boy” who was alone in life.
But every episode afterward made me fall in love with the real Nam Do-san (Nam Joo-hyuk). While young Han Ji-pyeong caught my attention in the first episode, it was Nam Do-san who held it for the rest of the show.
Do-san had lived the fear that most, if not all, young people feel (most certainly, what I feel). Do-san constantly faced the fear and the anxiety of being a disappointment to his family. He felt as if he had reached his peak as a young student when he became the youngest winner of the math olympiad. But with that achievement came the overwhelming feeling of not having deserved the title and not being able to achieve anything greater afterwards. Do-san’s fear of failure extends to his company and his friends, as he feels like the reason why their company could not succeed and that he has failed his friends who worked alongside him for the past 3 years. Do-san’s tears and emotions throughout the start of the show were easy to empathise with, if not to relate with.
On the other hand, Ji-pyeong who was lost and had come from nothing as an orphan met his fortune when he realised his potential as an investor. However, Ji-pyeong’s talents would have come to nothing if halmoni Choi Won-deok (played by everybodys halmoni, Kim Hae-sook) had not extended kindness and trust towards him. After reaching success, with an expensive car and an apartment overlooking the Han River, Ji-pyeong had forgotten where he had come from. Upon meeting Do-san and the rest of Samsan Tech in their dark, rundown rooftop office, Ji-pyeong looked down at Do-san and Samsan Tech. He belittled Do-san’s dreams and tries to pay Do-san off with money in exchange for a favour. Ji-pyeong, rather than paying the kindness he received forward onto a set of young entrepreneurs trying to find their way, pushes them further down with his harsh words.
Ji-pyeong showed a tendency of looking down on those he thought were beneath him. Taking the lesson from halmoni for granted, Ji-pyeong only spoke dismissive words to his subordinate, Park Dong-chun, and belittling words to Do-san, Chul-san and Yong-san of Samsan Tech. A great contrast to his way of speaking towards those he looked up to or halmoni who he owed a great favour to or Dal-mi who he had feelings for. His disregard of Samsan Tech is even more obvious when he deems Do-san as not good enough. Ji-pyeong had extended the lie by dressing Do-san in a suit, having him drive a convertible car and lending him an apartment with the view of the Han River. Perhaps Ji-pyeong had perceived Dal-mi as simple and needed Do-san to be rich and successful to be worthy of Dal-mi. But Dal-mi never asked for Do-san to be a hotshot CEO, all she had wanted was for him to be real and to find him.
And while Ji-pyeong was stuck in his standard of success, Dal-mi and Do-san were changing and learning from each other. Dal-mi had inspired Do-san to become more ambitious and even if it was a lie (to an extent), it was Do-san who had inspired Dal-mi to leave her comfort zone and reach for the “top floor”. They became tougher and more carefree (or in Dal-mi’s case, more careful) together.
As Do-san’s feelings for Dal-mi grew, the feeling of guilt over lying to her was slowly growing inside of him. The insecurity within him that Dal-mi liked only the version of him in the letters rather than the real him was becoming overwhelming. His mother’s words that the most hurtful thing was not knowing about him rather than what he did burned in his mind as Do-san resolved to tell Dal-mi the truth.
While Do-san felt inferior to Ji-pyeong, the feeling was mutual as Ji-pyeong felt inferior to Do-san. While coming to the decision to tell Dal-mi the truth, Ji-pyeong’s memories flashed with his jealousy over Do-san. It was the memories of the first time Do-san walked into Dal-mi’s life at the party, Do-san and Dal-mi laughing together at the rooftop, Do-san walking in as Dal-mi questioned Ji-pyeong and Do-san going on a trip with Dal-mi and halmoni that triggered Ji-pyeong’s realisation of his feelings and the burning desire to tell Dal-mi the truth.
Do-san looked for Dal-mi after reading her letter. Do-san fell in love with the Dal-mi that was in front of him. But for 15 years while holding onto her letters, Ji-pyeong never looked for Dal-mi. And I question whether he would have realised or acted on his feelings for Dal-mi if the real Do-san never came into the scene.
Ji-pyeong was the perfect first love for Dal-mi. But after 15 years (and then 3 more years), Dal-mi and Ji-pyeong were not the same people who had written letters to each other through the birdhouse. The young kids from the letters no longer existed and for that, Dal-mi and Ji-pyeong’s first loves were not meant to be their last love.

9 K-DRAMAS THAT’LL MOTIVATE YOU TO PURSUE YOUR DREAMS
You can do it!
Sometimes it’s difficult to find motivation to complete goals whether they are small or big. It’s easier to accept defeat or try to procrastinate. However, there’s nothing more satisfying than fulfilling your objectives and dreams. Be inspired and gain motivation from these characters who pursue their dreams despite various obstacles.
Start-Up
Start-Up features four, very driven, characters interested in start-ups and technology. Seo Dal-mi (Bae Suzy) and Won In-jae (Kang Han-na) are sisters who were separated after their parents’ divorce and develop a rivalry. Nam Do-san (Nam Joo-hyuk) was a math prodigy as a child, but hasn’t had much luck with his company Samsan Tech yet. Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho) was a disadvantaged orphan, but transformed his life with the help of Dal-mi’s grandmother. The foursome learn and grow as they pursue their tech dreams.
Record of Youth
Record of Youth also centers on young people chasing after their dreams, but in the entertainment industry. Sa Hye-jun (Park Bo-gum) and Won Hae-hyo (Byeon Woo-seok) are both model-turned actors hoping to make it big. An Jeong-ha (Park So-dam) quits a secure office job at a conglomerate in order to take on her dream job of being a makeup artist. As they go after their dreams, there are people who block their paths. However, they strive to overcome setbacks as they further their careers.
Itaewon Class
Itaewon Class showcases the battle between Park Saeroyi (Park Seo-jun) and food conglomerate Jangga Group. Saeroyi gets expelled from school, loses his father, and becomes a convict because of Jangga Group’s CEO and his son. These unfair events are enough to anger anyone, but Saeroyi overcomes his anger and channels it into creating a bar-restaurant. The callous and intelligent Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi) decides to help grow Saeroyi’s business. Along with the other DanBam crew, the pair fight back against Jangga Group.
Doctors
Doctors proves that anyone can turn their life around with determination and hard work. Yoo Hye-jeong (Park Shin-hye) had a tough childhood, and is a headstrong delinquent in high school. Due to her unruly behavior and her financial situation, Hye-jeong’s future does not look particularly promising. However, she is changed after meeting compassionate teacher Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae-won) who inspires her to change her path and become a doctor. 13 years later, they reunite after Hye-jeong has become a neurosurgeon.
Fight for My Way
Fight for My Way shows four friends whose lives don’t go as they had initially planned. In particular, Ko Dong-man (Park Seo-jun), Choi Ae-ra (Kim Ji-won), and Baek Sul-hee (Song Ha-yoon) are not satisfied with their current job situations. Ae-ra hasn’t given up on her dream though, and pursues a new opportunity. This inspires Dong-man to find a career that makes him happy as well. Facing difficult people and circumstances, the four friends grow as they pursue their dreams and change their lives. You might be stuck in a situation, but you can still go after your goals.
The Producers
The Producers takes a look at four people behind the scenes of the broadcasting world. Baek Seung-chan (Kim Soo-hyun) becomes a rookie producer in order to work closely with his crush. However, he ends up joining Ra Joon-mo (Cha Tae-hyun)’s show instead. Joon-mo struggles to revive ratings for his show and seeks help from his friend and fellow producer Tak Ye-jin (Kong Hyo-jin). Lastly, Cindy (IU) is a famous singer who debuted at a young age. This drama shows how things won’t always be smooth sailing even when you get the job you aimed for. However, the characters work hard and with passion in order to protect their dreams.
Welcome to Waikiki
Welcome to Waikiki gathers three young men and women who run a guesthouse together while pursuing their dreams. At first, the guesthouse is managed by the three guys who individually aspire to be a successful director, actor, and screenwriter. The three girls who join them also have different career goals: pastry chef, journalist, and model. Many humorous, embarrassing situations befall the six characters as they are sometimes forced to do things they don’t want to do while they pursue better opportunities.
Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung
Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung centers around free-spirited Goo Hae-ryung who focuses on studying instead of romance unlike most of her peers. She works hard to become a historian while fighting gender stereotypes. Despite being looked down upon due to being a woman, Hae-ryung doesn’t hesitate to voice her opinions and defend people who have been wronged. She’s an admirable character who stands up for what she believes in even if it means going up against the king. Be motivated by her bravery to pursue your dreams as well!
Oh My Ghost
Oh My Ghost’s heroine, Na Bong-sun (Park Bo-young), is a timid assistant chef with low self-esteem. She’s not confident enough in her cooking skills and has a secret crush on her boss Kang Sun-woo (Cho Jung-seok). After getting possessed by the ghost of a lustful virgin Shin Soon-ae (Kim Seul-gi), she changes completely and catches the attention of Sun-woo. With Soon-ae’s help, Bong-sun gains the confidence to show her culinary skills and go after the man she’s interested in. Sometimes it’s hard to believe in yourself and external help can make all the difference. An encouraging friend can help you realize the potential you had inside of you all along.

Review: Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022)
🐋🐋🐋🐋 whale nation 4 life 🐋🐋🐋🐋
Synopsis
When rookie attorney Woo Young Woo (spelled the same front and back: racecar, noon, rotator, Woo Young Woo) starts working at one of the best law firms in South Korea, you would think that a summa cum laude graduate of SNU Law School would be the star rookie attorney. And you would be right! However, Young Woo faces prejudice from her co-workers because she is autistic, which means she has a non-traditional approach to law and life. This show follows her as she navigates life as an autistic person in a cut-throat profession, complete with romance, intrigue, and whale facts!
MZ Overall: 10/10, I’m going to be watching this again!
I watched this show at the prodding of one of my friends, and I do not regret it at all. I will admit I had my concerns about this show, because of the ways that disabled people are usually portrayed in media. I thought this might end up being one of those that makes the “autistic character” some kind of cautionary tale, or rob her of any complexity of emotion, social life, etc. I’m glad to say that I was wrong about that, and Young Woo’s character was as rich, complex, and funny as any other main lead (and knows more whale facts!). Her office romance with Lee Jun Ho was not only swoon-worthy, but explored how autistic people are often seen in Korean society (and I would say there is a lot of the same stigma in the U.S., where I live). I would have given this show an even higher rating if it weren’t for the last two episodes. If you like a slow-build, quirky romance, and/or a law drama, you should watch!
MZ Review: You’re not (necessarily) there for the whale facts, but you will listen intently anyway
From the very first episode, you are brought into the world Woo Young Woo and her dad, former law student turned gimbap restraunt owner Woo Gwang Ho, inhabit as a father-daughter duo. Gwang Ho, who left school and the profession of law to raise Young Woo, cares deeply for his daughter yet is flawed in the ways he tries to shield her from the world. Though he supports her career in law, there are secrets and underhanded tactics that shroud Young Woo as she begins at Hanbada as a rookie attorney, later than the other rookie attorneys. This fact does not go unnoticed by her peers, leading “tactician” Attorney Kwon Min Woo to make things as hard as possible for her as she finds her footing. Even Senior Attorney Jung Myung Seok has his initial reservations about her, given her autism and late start at the firm. However, Young Woo soon proves that she is a valuable lawyer to have, and he quickly changes his mind about her. The same cannot be said for Attorney Kwon, who is only angered more by the senior attorney’s approval of Young Woo.
Given this set up, I was thinking that Attorney Kwon would be the main bad guy for the series, yet the secrets that Gwang Ho and the CEO of Hanbada, Han Seon Yeong, hold prove to be an even bigger threat to Young Woo, though she doesn’t know it at first. Attorney Kwon turns out to be at worst annoying, which was a bit of a disappointment. Not even to mention how he has that quasi-romance with the other rookie attorney, Choi Su Yeon, who I think had one of the best character growth arcs in the whole show. She, like most of Young Woo’s colleagues, started off not liking Young Woo, especially so because they had graduated from the same law school where Young Woo’s reputation was that she would always be first place in anything. However, her resentment changes throughout, eventually growing into an uneasy friendship. Not that Young Woo was short on friends: her best friend from high school, Dong Geum Rami, a thick-skinned rebel who eventually forms a partnership with Young Woo, consistently delivers laughs when she is in a scene. Partnered with the bar owner Kim Min Shik, when the three of them are sitting in a bar eating gimbap you are guaranteed a laugh.
Undoubtedly, the best relationship in this show is between Lee Jun Ho, a member of the litigation team at Hanbada, and Young Woo. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when Lee Jun Ho started having a crush on her, though I would argue it was from the very first moment he helps her dance her way through the rotating doors that serve as the entrance to the law firm. From the beginning he is on her side, thought their romance develops slowly. It is not helped along by Jun Ho’s friends and family, who view Young Woo not as someone he could be romantically involved with but as someone he would have to take care of. Despite all of this, Jun Ho always makes time to listen to Young Woo talk about whales, and sees the things that make her different as strengths. He’s no prince charming, but he is a genuine person who just wants to date Young Woo. I am now a Young Woo - Jun Ho shipper!!
Each episode you watch, up to the last two, are so interesting and heart felt. The ending honestly felt like a big let down, because it loses so much of what we had come to love about the dynamics of the group. I felt that there was too much to wrap up at the end, leaving all of the characters and their relationships on the backburner when those were what were drove the whole thing (for me). So while I would definitely recommend this to someone else, I have to warn you to be prepared for the ending.

The chemistry that shined from the script reading
The scene of the script reading where Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong's chemistry shined was released.
SBS's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Meet the Guys' (directed by Park Seon-ho / Scriptwriter Han Seol-hee / Hong Dong-hee / Produced by Kakao Entertainment / Produced by Cross Pictures), which will be aired for the first time in February, is based on a web novel and webtoon of the same name serialized on Kakao Page, and is based on a face genius, talented CEO. It depicts an office romance full of thrills of an employee who deceived a woman who deceived her and her identity. Expectations are also being raised by the exciting meeting of Ahn Hyo-seop from ‘Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 2’ and ‘Hong Cheon-gi’ and Kim Se-jeong from ‘Wonderful Rumors’, the popular actors through their previous works.
In the midst of this, major actors such as Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Se-jeong, Kim Min-gyu, Seol In-ah, Lee Deok-hwa, Kim Kwang-gyu, Jung Young-joo, Kim Hyun-sook, Song Won-seok, and Choi Byung-chan (Victon) attended the script reading for ‘Meet the Guy’ last summer. In addition, director Park Seon-ho, who directed 'Suspicious Partner' and 'Greasy Melo', and writers Han Seol-hee and Hong Hong-hee of the 'Rude Miss Young-ae' series collaborated to create a drama that is enjoyable and enjoyable to watch.
As the full-scale script reading began, the actors instantly immersed themselves in their respective roles, radiating enthusiasm reminiscent of a real film set. Above all, the chemistry of Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong, who met for the first time through 'Meet the Man', attracted attention. Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong amplified the excitement by delightfully portraying the relationship between the male and female protagonists, who met through an unexpected confrontation.
First, Ahn Hyo-seop decomposed into the face genius CEO Kang Tae-mu, and reserved the seat of 'Loco Namsin' that will brighten up 2022. Hyo-seop Ahn showed off his cold-looking side with a harsh atmosphere, but gave a heart-thump with an unexpected twist. Kim Se-jeong perfectly portrayed Shin Ha-ri, who has been transformed into a deadly opponent, a 'buccaneer' by hiding the 'real character' of an ordinary office worker. It made people look forward to the performance of Kim Se-jeong, a new 'roco fairy'. Kang Tae-mu, who goes straight without knowing the identity of the woman he is facing, and Shin Ha-ri, who has to hide his identity. A comical in-house episode from their relationship made the scene burst into laughter. Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong boasted fantastic chemistry even though it was their first time working together.
In addition, Kim Min-gyu and Seol In-ah also predicted an unusual relationship. Kim Min-kyu is Cha Seong-hoon, who grew up like a brother with Ahn Hyo-seop in the play, and Seol In-ah is Kim Se-jeong's best friend and the only daughter of a chaebol family, Jin Young-seo. Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong, another tiki-taka romance line, energized the play.
The feast of characters full of personality that will fill the 'man-to-man match' was also outstanding. In the play, Lee Deok-hwa plays the role of Kang Da-goo, Ahn Hyo-seop's grandfather and K-FRESH president, foreshadowing his active role as a solemn yet affectionate character. At K-FRESH, a food company that will be the main space for ‘meeting within the company,’ various office workers characters will deliver laughter and empathy. Kim Hyun-sook transformed into Kim Se-jeong's boss, Yeo Eui-ju, and showed off a powerful office character with a different color from 'Mr. In the play, Kim Kwang-gyu as Kim Se-jeong's father Shin Jung-hae, Jung Young-joo as her mother Han Mi-mo, and Choi Byung-chan as her younger brother Shin Ha-min, raised expectations for a warm chemistry. In addition, Song Won-seok was disassembled as Lee Min-woo, a handsome chef, and predicted to appear as Kim Se-jeong's boyfriend in the play.
The production team of 'Meet the Guy' said, "It was a script reading that confirmed each other's breathing and synergy. All the actors showed off their charm and presence in the right place, heating up the atmosphere of the scene. ‘Meet the Guy’ is an office romantic comedy that you can watch comfortably and happily. I will come back with a drama that can give viewers a pleasant energy, so please show a lot of interest and anticipation.”
Meanwhile, SBS' new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Meet the Guy' is based on a web novel of the same name serialized on Kakao Page. The original web novels and webtoons gained explosive popularity, reaching 320 million domestic and international readings, raising expectations for their dramatization. ‘Meet the Guy’ will be broadcasted for the first time in February.
