01/06/2022 Click here for Spotify or Apple Music. This is my 28th official release. “Gold Shaw Farm” is a country rap track I wrote about the farm on YouTube by the same name. I don’t know Morgan, I just love his channel and farm. I like how Morgan narrates his videos. I feel like the song is me rapping his narrative, in a way. Everything I know I got from him and his channel.  He also has different cameras that do videos spending the night in the hoop coop with night vision or from the cats perspective for example. I’ve probably been watching consistently for a year now along with a lot of his catalog. I got the idea because I wanted to show a sample of making a song about a subject, and I chose one that I genuinely enjoy, the farm , and it basically turned out to be a theme song.
youtube
I started writing the song on September 5th. The beat is from Ryini beats. The cover art was made by ArtworkGang from Fiverr. The track was professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sam Peters at LA Luna Recording Studio in Kalamazoo Michigan. You can stream or download the track wherever music is sold. Thank you for your support. Be sure to follow because new music is released every first, third and if there is a fifth Friday of every month.
Lyrics:
Come on cows, let’s go, fresh grass  Come on cows, let’s go, fresh grass  Come on cows, let’s go, fresh grass
Welcome y’all to Gold Shaw farm Just watch, you’ll see Toby dog is the star We got Abby, Ginny, and Molly murder mittens On a goose farm of ducks and weird chickens  Our hill farm in Vermont Is a cozy little spot  Of moseying bird flocks And a mossy center earth rock We get it up, get it cracking Eggs for breakfast and it smacks’n We go out to back and  Then release the quackin
Don’t visit, just watch on YouTube Where you can see the animals playing like Sudoku  Family friendly we care and review When the last time you amused those that disagree with you? We got a mobile hen house Where the chicken get down Pick all the little bugs out The stuff cows poop out Got ducks with bumble foot  And geese with angle wing But we still love them just as much as anything
Welcome y’all to Gold Shaw farm Just watch, you’ll see Toby dog is the star We got Abby, Ginny, and Molly murder mittens On a goose farm of ducks and weird chickens  Our hill farm in Vermont Is a cozy little spot  Of moseying bird flocks And a mossy center earth rock We get it up, get it cracking Eggs for breakfast and it smacks’n We go out to back and  Then release the quacking
We give em a good life At gold Shaw farm alright Their future and past in the fields are bright We plant trees like chestnuts Have a patch for lettuce Make bear cheese And get shipped seeds through FedEx You can buy your own goose And make um into soup Eat it with couscous Or canned bamboo shoots I thank the lord everyday she gives the strength to stay On the path and sway To videos that say
I feel like Allison and Morgan Taken whatever comes toward me Optimistic cuz and the lord can And I’ll tell you as a poor man I do my chores everyday And put it in a portrait So my family gets paid And on YouTube I say
Come on cows, let’s go, fresh grass x4

DNP Rewatch: Buying Weird Stuff On Fiverr!
Tumblr media
Date video was published: 02/07/2019 (X)
DNP Main Channel Rewatch: 387
Phil loves to buy random things.
0:00 - well that’s a creepy start. I love the jurassic park torn-up hoodie so much and I’m sad we didn’t see more of it
Tumblr media
0:11 - that was a mistake; now he had to deal with repositioning the plant, lol...it still ends up poking his shoulder the whole video
0:30 - for some reason I always forget that he had done this before. there are still a lot of casual Dan mentions at the start of 2019
0:40 - what a selection on that scroll through
0:48 - I think there is a general uptick in Phil even just saying “gay” on his channel in early 2019. his way of starting to prepare his audience for coming-out. also, he’s now scooted over to get away from the plant, lol
0:54 - “propose to your soulmate” jesus christ I didn’t remember Phil saying that phrase out loud
1:24 - that picture just makes that one extremely creepy
1:34 - the palm-reading scared him...but the face reading is good. sure
Tumblr media
1:41 - why is his phone called Brian, hahaha
1:49 - I don’t know about Phil’s ‘neutral’ face there
2:04 - I really wonder how many times they’ve almost accidentally posted something
2:08 - a distracted Phil 😂
2:20 - okay...a general uptick in more than just saying “gay.” although this was about par-for-the-course after 2018
2:30 - it was just his birthday! he went up to Isle of Man (1, 2, 3, 4). they didn’t post anything about if Dan went too; Dan did tweet a happy birthday
2:51 - lol at him using a sound panel as a surface to write on
2:53 - his handwriting is not great but Dan’s is much much worse
Tumblr media
3:10 - sticking with the jurassic park shirt theme
3:26 - he’s so disappointed by that...still amused though
4:06 - jesus, I wouldn’t be sure I would want to read the rest!
4:26 - I guess we’ll find out if that eye is lucky for Phil now that he is 35, lol
4:36 - I’m with Phil here...what.
4:46 - yeah, Phil finishes things for sure. it seems like he will work as hard as he has to to do that
5:09 - hahaha, just thinking of his “yeahs” as Dan rambles
5:14 - cackling, mostly at Phil’s reaction to that
Tumblr media
5:50 - I wonder if that made the radio show stressful
5:59 - “hope they’re talking about my face cheeks” Phil... 😳
6:06 - gonna go with no
6:38 - Phil’s shocked face and the record scratch noise is hilarious
7:01 - I don’t know if I think that’s cute
7:15 - ...yeah, creepy
7:27 - he looks so happy about the compliment!
7:38 - I also love handwriting man
Tumblr media
7:53 - Phil’s like...maybe not
7:55 - lol at the balloon picture
8:08 - Phil’s eyes went so wide at “libido”
8:13 - the editing from Phil here 😂
8:32 - honest Phil
8:56 - that was a very loud honk
9:00 - wtf is that eyebrow wiggle...help
9:04 - this is definitely a pep talk
9:16 - god I love Phil
This is a cute Phil video, and one of the ones I like best from early 2019.

saw a post recommending people go look on fiverr to buy presents for people and whatever and while I make just about all of my income off of that site, i need yall to know that while the site takes a fee from you when you order something, it ALSO takes 20% of the artists earnings. it takes 20% off of tips you give them too
this is all to say like, yeah use fiverr if you want to because it’s very good for finding weird and cool stuff, but if you can, please try to find the artist off-site and work with them by another means or at least give them a very good tip because that site screws artists over bigtime

☕️ Favorite Phil videos from last year?
i decided to just rank them all bc why not do the most ?? alskfksk in all fairness to the list, you’ll see it skews heavily in favor of recent vids so maybe if i’d given some on the bottom a more recent rewatch i’d rank it differently — this isn’t definitive or anything, i have No sense of object permanence, but here’s what i drummed up 🥰✌️

The original title of Phil's video was 'I paid a psychic to judge my face' or something really similar to that. He quickly changed it to 'Buying weird stuff on Fiverr'.

March 4, 2022
So I was M.I.A for a couple of days. Big deal. No, I’m actually a tad upset about it really. I’m aiming for consistency, but I’m just not a terribly consistent person. Commitment issues and dissatisfaction abound in this cosmically tiny package that is me.
The thing is, not much happens in a single day. Well, most days. Some days are monumental. Some days are weird. But the past couple of days have been quiet, simple, mundane. I finished another segment of the poet story commission, and of course that relieved a bit of pressure. It introduces a whole new pressure, though; up until this point I’ve been rewriting and revising content that was already there. Now I’ll have to come up with content from scratch. Now the game really begins. It’ll be fine. It’ll just be arduous, as usual.
Other than that, I’ve started reading a book called Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder. It was an accident, for the most part. I just stumbled on it upon opening my library app. Apparently I put a hold on it a while ago, and it was finally my turn to read one of the copies available. So I snagged the opportunity. It’s charming so far, in a bitterly hilarious sort of way. Motherhood is stifling, and women can laugh at their bitchiness until it’s time to scream. I enjoy it. I’ve shared some quotes on tumblr, because I like to do that. I like to look back on the quotes and have tiny nostalgic episodes, like, “Ah, I remember that part. That was great.” Once I finish the book, I may refer to those quotes to help me write my review of it. I’m very interested to see how it ends.
I’m drawing again, and I’ve reverted to a style that I always fall back on, which is this sketchy miniature portrait style. The drawings aren’t that bad, it’s just that there isn’t a whole lot of variety in subject matter and execution, and that drives me nuts. Plus, people must get bored of seeing the same thing again and again. Nevertheless, I’m back on Instagram and doing my thing, just posting these little pieces that I’ve taken to drawing on sticky-notes. It’s alright. It’s low pressure. Meditative almost. And in the end it’s pretty and I can admire my work with only slight fuss here and there.
I may say farewell to YouTube. I don’t know. I’m on the fence about it. I want to consolidate, use as few social media platforms as I can get away with. I want to keep things simple, make my life easier to manage. I won’t leave Tumblr, or Ko-fi. I may part with Quotev and just stick with Wattpad. I may use Instagram as a substitute for YouTube, because now you can post long reels and that could work for what I’m doing. It’s just a matter of deciding. Isn’t everything?
My Fiverr is dead, and that gives me awful anxiety. I relied on those commissions a lot. It would be a dream if I could start building my freelance business here on Ko-fi (fewer fees, more flexibility, and it keeps everything in one place). But I need to be able to direct people here, and my social profiles aren’t seeing enough traffic and interaction yet. Things take time. I have to be patient and responsible. Eventually, stuff will change for better or worse. We shall see.
I may change the goal on my Ko-fi page; I’m desperate for a printer, a really good printer that I can use to make art prints and to finally, finally start making chapbooks like I’ve wanted to do for months. It’s an investment, and I just don’t have it to spend right now. It would seriously broaden my opportunities though. I need to make it happen. Anyway.
A message to all of you hyperventilating out there because you feel like you didn’t get enough accomplished today: Breathe easy. Tomorrow’s right around the corner. You can try again. That’s what I’ll be doing. ;)
Buy me a coffee on Ko-fi~ <3 (and possibly help me save up for a printer)

Heritage affiliates.
I’ve been thinking a lot about referral programs lately. Or, I guess the more accurate place to start would be: I’ve been thinking a lot about income lately. Especially passive income. It’s tax season, after all, and I’ve just tossed my Fiverr account into the trash.
I don’t have any source of passive income right now other than sales on the stock photography I’ve uploaded to 500px. I’ve experimented with a lot of online services in the past, including my fundraising shop, which seems to have done okay with only a few people occasionally promoting it. I’ve let it fall rusty for the past year as I’ve gotten too busy with other things, but I want to resurrect it with a new selection of images when I get a chance. The need for diverse archivists never stops.
(And in fact that fundraising shop makes extra cash through its own affiliate program, so if I promote other people's shops or people eventually buy other things after following my links, the Mosaic scholarship still benefits. Convenient!)
I was mulling over the idea of signing up to be an Amazon affiliate. I do a yearly roundup of books I’ve read, and since I genuinely do love recommending books to people, that wouldn’t be such a bad way to make some cash while supporting the authors I appreciate. That said, I’m a librarian first and foremost, and feel pretty strongly about people trying books before buying them - by borrowing them for free and checking them out. I buy only the books I think I’ll want to read again, which is a very small subset of the books I love. I also buy vinyl copies of albums I have never stopped listening to, which is a very small subset of the music I love. This might just be a holdover of a transient renter who’s lived in 13 different apartments in the last ten years (and the ratio gets worse the farther back you go) but I really don’t need that much physical stuff. Digital possessions supplemented by library collections are how I have always rolled.
So, why can’t I make passive income referring people to books I love - but to library catalogues instead of Amazon? What if library OPACs built in affiliate programs that helped people work off their library fines by referring new readers? Or build up money on their printing accounts? I love the idea of fine-amnesty (and outright abolition) but for libraries that aren’t ready to go that far, it would be lovely to offer other ways to pay down debt.
know what would be REALLY COOL is if libraries created an anti-amazon-affiliate program that worked off library fees / banked printing $$ through linking people to library catalogues
— ҩȴȴҩηҩ (@allanaaaaaaa)
March 3, 2018
There’s a middle-ground for this: refer people to Amazon, but also suggest they install the Library extension for their browser, to see what their library holds. I’ll make less money but perhaps inspire more reading by including more options for access.
What would a referral program for archives look like? You could ask people to link to cool digitized shit in your online collections, and build up credit for reproduction costs. Or count it towards the equivalent in donations and then thank them as a sponsor in your annual report or newsletter.
I like this idea because I think that hard dollar donations come from a specific segment of the population that is likely pretty far away from your biggest fans on social media, or the people who are out there evangelizing about the importance of your services. Yet we acknowledge people with cash on hand far more often than we acknowledge our super-users and our street teams.
It’s hard to “extend credit” in a system that already offers so much for free (access to online materials; reference and research support; reading room time; access to on-site materials; patience and goodwill when explaining shit to you that you should’ve already read on the damn website). But it could be fun to think about how to do it properly, and as an alternative to all the other weird shit we do like digital badges and gamification and crowdsourced metadata.
Anyway, this is all just to say that I am curious about affiliate earnings and whether they are remotely worth the energy, and whether that system can help my industry. Since I can’t bring myself to sign up for Amazon just yet, I signed up for Dreamhost’s referral program, because they host my site and are great. They automatically renew my LetsEncrypt certificates and don’t mind that I’m an Old who still likes to use FTP when I’m working on design stuff. So, you know, if you need a website or a domain, you should use them - and use my link to get to them, because that’s how this works.
It looks like my first hurdle is going to be figuring out how to shill for corporations I like without being super weird about it. If you are also curious about this (and similar systems like Patreon and etc.) feel free to get in touch; it might be nice to have someone to talk this stuff over with.
