Oneshot inspired by a song and my late Grandpa
youtube
The cold stopped biting into my hands as I shoved them in my weathered coat pockets. It was twilight and the snow was just settling from the previous hours of flurries. Bootsteps sloshed through all the muck as some tiresome do-good citizens stood at corners selling flowers. They were a pitiful attempt at hiding the paralyzing smell of death. It rode the wind and lingered on every breath, latching onto any semblance of life. The war had moved on to other lands that had yet to be molested. And it left us. The innocent, the wounded, those viciously blessed with dumb luck that were still alive. Children scattered around stealing and scavenging; no one seemed to mind. The food purposely left out on driveways and windowsills proved so. Most public spaces and some houses were commandeered and transformed into makeshift hospitals. Little good it did, there were more soldiers wasted on the side of the road than wounded on a gurney. No one can blame them though, heaven only knows what hell they witnessed. Some figures were sat near a thrown-together shelter, huddled by the fire. Looks like they’re playing some card game, the kind that has more rules with each new round and it gets even better when drunk. Their voices grew rampant as the game came to an end; one of them winning and the rest frustrated. I moved on. As I walked, a soft strumming sound danced towards my way and it steadily grew louder. There was a low smooth voice calling out a rhythmic story - sung . She lay, propped against the cold snow and crumbling brick, battered hat covering her eyes, and fingers lazily brushing the taught strings of a dented guitar.
“It was a cold and cruel evenin’
Sneaking up on Speedy Creek.
I found myself sleepin’ in the snow
For one or two odd reasons I ain’t too proud to repeat.
For now we’ll say I had no place to go.”
She seemed to drift between playing and sleeping. She had dog tags and a bandaged leg that ended at her knee. An empty six pack was littered at her side and a mound of cigarette butts chronicled her days. Her accent made it clear that she was American and I instantly knew why she wasn’t given proper care.
“I drew myself up from my icy bed.
Painted on that shiny car
The letters R.C.M and P.
I could feel a little achin’ in my head.”
While the laymen didn’t fully understand the complexities of their situation, we all knew that the U.S. soldiers that were sent to assist us, are now caught in a legality of citizenship, lost rights, and an inability to travel home. They were stragglers, often thought to be dead. Withering away on the battlefield, unknown prisoners; walking miracles, they were. Only to be treated like vagrants with no provisions. Empty cities like us were typically run by whatever law enforcement was left and a culmination of elder power hungry citizens. The soldiers then, were constantly and unjustly rounded up for loitering. So my surprise was unwarranted when two police officers arrived at our sides.
“And then out jumps this ol’ boy
About twice the size as me.
He asked me for my name and where I dwelt.
I just looked him in the eye and sang, ‘
Blue yodel number nine’.
He didn’t catch the reference I could tell
And then the old familiar click
And the handcuffs bindin’ grip.
He should have left me in the snow where I lay.”

Hiii!!! If your requests are open could you do an injury fic with Luke and a Persephone reader? Where she gets hurt during capture the flag or smth like that and this man starts stressing even if he’s on the opposite team and didn’t know what was going on when she got hurt?
luke castellan x daughter of persephone!reader summary: you get hurt during capture the flag and luke gets worried wc: 885
Luke Castellan is very particular about his capture the flag team, and everyone at camp knew that, which is why it came as a surprise when you and him were on separate teams.
When asked, he would just say that the two of you had decided to have a competition on who could create the better capture the flag strategy, but it was deeper than that. The two of you had a small fight because you felt that he never let you help with the strategy enough, and you felt like he never really let you in on the combat. It was almost like he thought of you as a delicate flower, and when you brought it up, he got irritated, telling you that he wasn't trying to control you, he just didn't want you to get hurt.
You'd gotten mad and stormed out, and now neither of you knew where you stood, and preparing for capture the flag against him wasn't helping at all. The few days leading up to capture the flag were some of the most hostile days each month, and this time was no exception. It may just be a camp war game to some campers, but to others, especially your teammate Clarisse, this was a big deal. Clarisse was always rude and quite hostile towards your boyfriend, but it was worse than ever now.
You and Clarisse were an unexpected duo, but you two had a special connection, considering each other your best friend, so when you told her what happened between you and Luke, she was pissed off, to say the least.
"Thanks for telling me that, I'm gonna hand his ass to him on Friday," she said, running her hand along your arm, trying to comfort you to her best ability.
"Thanks, Clarisse, I can always count on you if I want someone to get beat up," you joked, making her laugh.
The next few days went by quickly, you and Clarisse rigorously training with each other and going over your plan as co-captains. You'd always loved being on the same team as Clarisse before you started dating Luke, and now you finally got to be again.
On the day of capture the flag, you and all the campers headed into the forest, getting into your positions. The game began, and you and Clarisse charged into the other team's territory.
As a daughter of Persephone, you had the ability to manipulate certain plants, which was helpful, especially at camp, because you could control almost all of the plants that were there. Unfortunately, with great power comes a great ego boost, which you fell victim to.
You and Clarisse were basically wiping the floor with your opponents, when you got caught up in your head, confidence overflowing, and tried to create a longer vine, accidentally tripped over it, and fell right into the sword of the camper you were fighting. Luckily, you had managed to move your body so that you didn't get stabbed anywhere fatal, but you did get an incredibly deep cut right under your ribcage, which caught the attention of Clarisse. Seeing you injured fueled Clarisse's rage, and she quickly finished the fight.
Immediately, she picked you up bridal style, rushing you through the woods to the infirmary. She passed by Luke, and at first he ignored it, but then he did a double take after realizing it was Clarisse, and saw you in her arms, blood soaking through your orange Camp Half-Blood shirt. Even though he was in the middle of a fight, he booked it in the direction the two of you were heading, now full of worry.
He finally caught up to the two of you, surprised at how quick Clarisse was. When Clarisse caught sight of him, she cracked her knuckles and gave him the dirtiest look you had even seen in your life. You bit back a laugh.
Luke rushed up to where you were sitting on the bed.
"Baby, are you okay? Please tell me you're okay," he said, voice filled with desperation.
You gave him a pained look, gesturing to the large blood-soaked bandage covering the left side of your abdomen. "Well, I have a near fatal hole going through my side, but other than that, I'm great," you say dryly.
"C'mon, don't be that way. I'm sorry for what happened last week, okay? But see, this is why I'm so protective. I can't let anything happen to you, I don't want to lose anyone else," he whispers, eyes glazed over.
At this point, Clarisse is long gone. Knowing her, she probably left because she couldn't stand to see you and Luke being all 'lovey dovey,' as she calls it.
"Well... yeah. I guess I see your point. But I still think that you should let me help more, please."
"Okay, you're right. I know you're perfectly capable, I'm just scared. I've lost too many people and losing you would be too much to handle, so please be more careful, okay?" He eyes your bandage, giving you a grimace.
You respond by pulling him down to your face by his shirt, and give him a sweet kiss, which he reciprocates almost immediately. It almost made you laugh how quickly he kisses you back, even though it happens every time.

Who falls in love in November?
part 2 of this, also known as the happy ending everyone wanted :)
Alexia had three days remaining of her time in Menorca after you left. Never in her life had a vacation been so miserable.
Even without you there, her head was constantly on a swivel when she was out, hoping she’d turn a corner and you were there waiting for her. She was withdrawn from social occasions with friends, stuck in her head thinking about how much she wished you were by her side.
But it wasn’t going to happen. It didn’t happen.
And to top it all off, she had no evidence you even existed aside from the book you gifted her, as if you were merely a figure of her imagination. A daydream she didn’t want to come out of. It was simultaneously the best and worst summer of her life, because she had you, and then she didn’t. You slipped out of her grasp before she could do anything about it, and that fact was eating her up inside.
To be honest, as she boarded her plane home, she had never been so grateful for a vacation to end. She slumped into her seat after storing away her suitcase and sighed heavily, looking out of the window of the place that she currently held mixed feelings about. The whole island was tainted by you and the memories that remained. At the thought, she slammed the window cover shut. It was a pitiful attempt to shove you out of her mind; to be fair to her, it worked for a few seconds. Except, when she reached into her backpack by her feet, her hand grabbed something and pulled it out.
Your book. The only thing that remained of your relationship.
Relationship? Could it be classed as that? Probably not. But what else could she call it? The greatest mistake of her life?
Since she opened the first page the night you gave it to her, she had probably read the note there a hundred times. And so what if she had traced the curvature of your handwriting with her finger as her eyes burned with tears that night? You weren’t there to see it, that’s the only thing that mattered to her.
This book means a lot to me, and from all the wonderful things I know about you so far, I think you’ll like it too. We haven’t known each other for very long but I hope that changes because you’ve already had a better effect on me than anyone I have ever met, and for that I am so grateful. Let me know when you finish it.
That last sentence, as well as the accompanying smiley face that was exactly the same as the one you had drawn on another note to her a few days prior, mocked her. She couldn’t reach you if she tried. She only had your first name and the city you lived in, there was nothing to go off of if she attempted to find you. The worst part of it all is that you could be her neighbour for all she knows, but the only thing she could do was hope that your worlds aligned sooner rather than later. You could live in the apartment right beside hers, or above it, or below. The possibilities were endless and it killed her.
Maybe it was sad and pathetic, but she couldn’t bring herself to read the story. There had been one attempt so far, and it only resulted in a throbbing headache, puffy red eyes, and a damp pillow. Another sigh left her lips as she dropped it back into her bag and zipped it up with more aggression than necessary, earning a strange glance from the flight attendant that walked past her just as she did so.
A little while passed before the plane got ready for take-off, and ever the rule-stickler, Alexia took one of her earphones out as the safety video played out. At that point, she realised just how screwed she was, because she couldn’t even look at a life vest on a fucking plane without thinking back to that day with you on the boat.
“Qué coño estoy haciendo?” She grumbled under her breath, slipping her earphone back in and resting her head back against the seat, eyes closed.
Unfortunately, that was a question she would repeat to herself a hell of a lot the following months. Because, really, not a day passed by without her thoughts being infiltrated by those days with you. The second she closed her eyes at night, she saw your face. When she woke up in the morning, she wished you were beside her, even despite the fact she had never once shared a bed with you.
At one point, sometime in September, she even found herself going along to one of Mapi’s dinners in Barcelona that she always planned. Alexia had been invited to every single one in the past few years since the defender had started organising them with her closest friends, but the blonde had only attended a handful in that time. Her attendance for this one was solely for the purpose of seeing you.
However, you didn’t show up.
There was one chair at the end of the table empty, and though no one ever took it, Alexia couldn’t tear her eyes away. She had a vacant expression on her face throughout the whole duration of the evening, forcing a smile when she had to and keeping her responses short. The people there that didn’t know her too well were probably a little weirded out, but Mapi could see heartbreak in her eyes and the realisation of what likely happened brought a frown to her face. She didn’t want to intrude on a situation she knew Alexia would prefer to keep private, but it hurt to see her friend so down like she was.
Only one conversation topic truly piqued her interest that evening. Near the end of the night, someone asked why you weren’t there. The single mention of your name had her heart racing.
“-has gone to England to see her family for a while.”
The person talking, who Alexia assumed was your friend, went on a bit more about your whereabouts, but the blonde had tuned out of it as soon as she heard that you weren’t even in the country, nevermind the city.
She had the urge to just get up and walk out of the restaurant there and then at the news, but she was here, at a restaurant with alcohol available to her, and instead she decided to throw her personal laws out the window for the night and have a few drinks. They didn’t numb the pain, in fact they probably made it more prominent. Alarm bells were ringing in Mapi’s head at the sight of her friend with an alcoholic drink in her hand, especially since the new season had just started, and she waited until everyone was leaving to bring it up.
“Ale, Ale, espera.” The shorter woman lightly grabbed her friend by the arm just as she started the walk back to her apartment. “Qué passa?”
“No, Mapi.” Alexia mumbled, shaking her head and continuing to walk. Mapi kept up the pace beside her, allowing the silence to sit for a bit, before the older woman sniffled a little.
“Oye. Habla, ahora.” Mapi demanded, halting their movements on the sidewalk as Alexia kept her head down.
“No es importante.” Alexia shrugged dismissively, opting out of looking at Mapi and instead observing the streets she had walked all of her life. Ones that you have probably walked too.
“Es importante!” Mapi argued, before she pushed down her frustration and addressed her captain much more calmly. “Si estás así de triste, es muy importante, Alexia.”
“Stop, Mapi! Leave it, it has nothing to do with you.” Alexia snapped, before turning away and heading back in the direction of her flat.
The fact she slipped into English, now of all times, told Mapi everything she needed to know. Things hadn’t gone smoothly between you and Alexia. Whatever happened, Mapi would stay out of it until she was needed. That didn’t mean she was any less disappointed at it though. Not at you, or Alexia, because regardless of what had or hadn’t gone on, she didn’t blame you and she knows neither of you would have blamed each other too. Whatever had occurred was left in the hands of the world to sort it out.
Though, if she had known it was just a miscommunication that could have been easily solved, she would have grabbed you both by the ears and lectured you to no end.
The truth is, if Alexia wasn’t so stuck in her misery and just read the book given to her, all of her problems would have been solved. In her opinion, if she did read it, it would just mean finding out more about you that she couldn’t have. But, as a matter of fact, getting to the end of the story would give her the one thing she wanted all along.
By the time November rolled around, Alexia and the rest of the Barcelona team were well into the season in most competitions already. The league was going well, they had won the two Champion’s League games so far, and they had just beaten Real Madrid in the first game of the fifth, albeit unofficial, infamous competition of the season- El Clásico.
A win like that always had to be celebrated, and none of the blaugrana players were going to pass up a night of partying in Barcelona afterwards.
There was just one small thing Mapi failed to tell Alexia before they arrived at the club, however.
—
Your life after that vacation didn’t really change. The only noticeable difference was the heartache and the anguish you felt after arriving home that no one would understand. In secret you met, in silence you have to grieve.
Except, your pain wasn’t quite the same as Alexia’s. Hers surely had an expiration date, she would get over you at some point. Yours would only get stronger the longer you spent apart from her, the anxiety turning the scenario you were in from a nightmare into a reality.
You had no doubts that Alexia was a busy person, so for a few weeks, you gave her the benefit of the doubt when it came to reading. But a few weeks turned into a month, then one turned into two, and before you knew it, it was November. Maybe she didn’t want to see you again after all, maybe those few days were enough for her.
That summer felt like a lifetime ago, an out of this world experience that was nothing more than a dream. But it was real, you know it was, because you still feel the phantom touch of her lips on your shoulder and the comfortable warmth of her hand in yours. You still remember every detail about her, like the moles on her face and the depth to her hazel eyes, or the tattoos on her back and the strength of her arms when she embraced you. Not even your wildest dreams could have created such a person like Alexia. She was more than anything you could have wished for.
Perhaps you could have searched her up online, the blonde was apparently a prominent public figure after all, so it probably wasn’t that hard to find out more about her. You didn’t want to do that though, in the weirdest way, it would feel like invading her privacy. What could be found online was most likely not a true representation of her. Though she wasn’t yours anymore, and she never really was in the first place, you knew the media’s perception of her would be so different to who she actually was, and indulging in that would be a disservice to the woman you had the honour to love, even if that was for just a week.
In your time since Menorca, you had gone back to your normal life like nothing had happened. As if nothing had changed outwardly, when internally, everything had changed. You had been introduced to the true beauty of life, what it means to feel seen, only to have it ripped away from you. And maybe it was your fault that it wasn’t yours to experience anymore. If you could go back in time to that final moment in the bar, you would have done everything differently, especially if you had known it would end like this.
At some point in September, the city you loved became nothing but a mental challenge. Alexia could be anywhere, yet in your opinion, there was no morally correct way to try and find her. It all got too much, and you had to escape. Going back to England seemed like a good idea at first, however in hindsight, it just made things worse. Somehow it made the pain, regret, sorrow, it made all of it reach new heights. During the taxi ride back to your apartment in Barcelona afterwards, there were tears in your eyes that hardly left for the next two months. No matter what you tried, you couldn’t get her out of your mind, even though you were probably long gone from hers.
A night out in the city sounded perfect suddenly, in November. One mention of it from a friend of a friend, and you were in. There was some special occasion apparently, according to María, but you didn’t care that much to pay attention. All you knew was that the club was booked for you all, there was a ticket with your name on it, and alcohol waiting for you.
Only, you didn’t expect to meet a familiar pair of eyes at the bar a few hours into the night.
“Ale?” You whispered under your breath at the sight of the woman a few metres to your right, leaning against the bar with a near empty beer bottle in her hand.
With the music thumping throughout the club, there was no way she heard you. But her eyes averted to her left anyway, and they landed straight on you. Her entire body froze, eyes wide whilst the rest of her face seemed void of emotion. It was hard to get a read on her and considering there was a fair amount of alcohol in your system by this point, it wasn’t surprising when the anxiety took over and made you doubt everything.
Did she still feel the same way about you? Was there already somebody else for her? Maybe you didn’t mean as much to her as she did to you. There were probably thousands of other people she could have, when you took her supposed stardom into account. The scale of her fame was still a mystery to you, but at that moment it was too overwhelming to think about. What business did she have falling in love with someone who was nothing more than a fly on the wall?
Nobody ever noticed you, you were just there. Alexia was… Alexia. There weren’t enough words in any and all languages to describe what a person she was.
Unbeknownst to you, Alexia was freaking out too. Not in the way one would initially expect, though; there was one overwhelming feeling for her that wasn’t fear or anxiety, it was relief. Complete, utter, all-consuming relief, because you were right in front of her. Within arms reach, basically. Despite all the possibilities that could occur from here on out, she was just happy to see you.
However, her face hadn’t changed in the time the pair of you had been staring at each other agasp for the past however long, and it didn’t change as she cautiously took a few steps closer to you. With each step she took, your anxiety grew. It grew and grew, until she was about a metre away, and it reached its peak.
In true anxiety fashion, the fight or flight kicked in.
A proper glance at her face and you were breathless, and not in the swooning, romantic way, but instead out of pure panic. The club was too loud, too restricting and suffocating, and the only option that seemed plausible was getting the hell out. You didn’t care about the people you bumped into, or the voice shouting after you. The situation that confronted you back at the bar was more than you could handle and it seemed to be an insurmountable challenge that you weren’t quite prepared for.
In your mind, Alexia was done with you. The heartbreak was tearing through you already and had been for months now, you didn’t need a run in with her to increase that, and you definitely didn’t want closure. Too long had passed, you had grown content with the realisation that she had moved on seamlessly.
It took a matter of seconds for Alexia to lose sight of you in the crowded room, and what didn’t help was the sudden barrage of teammates that seemed determined to drag her to the dancefloor. They were buzzing off their copious amounts of alcohol compared to her one bottle of beer, completely unaware of the turmoil she was going through due to the winning high they were still riding. She saw the disappointed look on their faces as she brushed them off and it hurt for a moment, before she remembered the situation she was in, and then the celebrations were forgotten entirely.
The moment she exited the club, she spotted you outside the next building over, a restaurant with outdoor seating that was closed due to the late hour. You were sat in one of the chairs there, head in your hands with a leg bouncing out of intense anxiety. Alexia knew she was the reason for your current state, it didn’t take a genius to figure that out, but she also didn’t want to leave you alone when you were so clearly worked up. If you pushed her away, fine, she’d leave. She just wanted to try first.
As she prudently walked over to you with a few gentle calls of your name, like she were approaching a skittish animal, you glanced through your fingers to find the one person at the centre of your anxiety approaching you. Rather than tell her to leave, or get everything off your chest in a ‘screw you’ way, or simply pretend she didn’t exist, you removed your hands and sat up like you weren’t just having an anxiety attack. Your people-pleasing habit had no boundaries.
“Are… are you okay?” Alexia asked softly, standing a few feet in front of you with her hands, that itched to reach out and comfort you, holding onto the chair behind her which she leaned on just as an excuse to nervously fidget with something not too obvious.
“I will be.” You gave her a tight-lipped smile that you paired with a quick sniffle and a brush away of the tears on your cheeks.
To anyone else, this whole situation probably seemed ridiculous and unnecessary. Why not just exchange details in the first place? Why not ask Mapi, a mutual friend, for the other person’s details? There were so many seemingly obvious solutions and ways this could have been prevented.
But love isn’t so simple. It’s a risk to take, a fact that often goes unacknowledged and underappreciated. Especially when your heart has already been broken and stuck back together so many times, it’s hard to hand it over again. It is a delicate organ, the only one other than the brain that has the ability to feel, to hold sentiment and adoration.
There’s no rhyme or reason as to why people decide to harm it, but Alexia isn’t one of those people. She’d take your damaged goods and glue them back together with gold if she could, and you’d do the same for her. When all is said and done, there is no blame or resentment present, just guilt and regret. Your souls are too pure for hatred, they’re professionals at harbouring love for those around no matter what, and it’s evident with the way you both treat each other, despite all the unspoken sorrow and devastation individually experienced during all these months.
A week of pure, whole-hearted, unconditional love was worth all the months of anguish. That was an easy conclusion both of you had come to somewhere along the way.
“I…” There was so much that Alexia wanted to say, but she had no idea how to verbalise any of it or where to even start. She believed that nothing she could say would live up to the moment.
“We don’t have to do this, Ale.” You decided for her. Your words exuded a confidence that wasn’t there at all, and you figured that it was probably evident in your anxiety-filled appearance, but what’s the harm in trying.
“Do what?” Alexia replied with her face scrunched in fearful confusion. Ale. She had missed you saying that.
“Do the awkward back and forth whilst ignoring the fact we fell in love four months ago.”
It hurt to admit it out loud.
For months, this pain had been nothing but an internal one, hidden in the background of your thoughts at all points of the day whilst the world around you was none the wiser. The only external signs of such an event were the mascara stains on your pillow after a night of crying and the tear tracks engraved onto your cheeks when walking into work the next day.
You fell in love four months ago. And the person you were still in love with stood before you. But time had passed, and perhaps that love had to be left behind.
“Maybe I don’t want to ignore that.” Alexia’s shoulders were up in a shrug for a few moments, her heart beating away so fast in her chest that a pit of nausea had formed at the sentence she had just uttered. You looked up at her through tears that glistened in the street lamps, a glint of hope in your eyes that you loathed. In just one statement, you were wrapped around her finger again.
“What do you mean?” You questioned firmly, voice distant despite the crack in the middle of it.
“Maybe… I am still in love with you.”
Laughter wasn’t quite the response Alexia was expecting, especially spiteful laughter. Disapproving laughter with anger so clear in its undertones.
“How can you say that after you’ve obviously moved on? After I’ve heard nothing from you all these months?” You scoffed. Your pent-up exasperation wasn’t even at Alexia, she just so happened to be there and saying all the wrong things to act as the catalyst for the eruption.
No, the anger was entirely at yourself. You opened up your heart to someone you knew you couldn’t have, and still had the audacity to be so hurt by the anticipated turn of events. Alexia was never to blame, it was you.
“What? I don't understand.” Alexia retorted, and it’s unexplainably hard to continue your onslaught of misdirected blame when there’s so much pain in her voice.
“You had so much time to contact me, and yet you didn’t. I can read the room, Ale, I can tell when I’m not wanted, and I get it.” The fight left you then, your body deflating of all its tension as you curled back into yourself.
“I had no way to get to you! I don’t get it, cariño, I really don’t, because I have loved you still all these months and I missed you, and if I did have a way to get to you, I would have taken it because I have lost myself after losing you!”
“Oh, so I just gave you my favourite book with my number in the back of it for no reason then?” You scoffed once more, shaking your head as you willed the tears away once more.
Just a few feet in front of you, Alexia was going through about a million different emotions, thoughts, feelings, all that good stuff, at once. Her head was spinning, dizzy at the gravity of what you just said.
“I didn’t read your book.” Alexia whispered, her voice quiet and dripping with awe, still stuck in regretful astonishment at the fact the solution to everything had been under her hands all this time.
Your number, in the back of the book that was right beside her bed. She had you right under her fingertips and she didn’t even know it.
“What do you mean?” You asked in the same tone.
“I could not bring myself to read it because I missed you too much. Your number is really in the back? You are not doing some… some cruel joke?”
As if you’d ever.
“No! I swear, I wrote it in there that night in the bar when I gave it to you. I thought you saw me write in it!” You exclaimed, overcome with all sorts of emotions at the new revelation.
It had been a stupid mishap, nothing more. No malicious intent on either side, no animosity (aside from the last few minutes), and most of all, throughout this whole thing, there had been no love lost. It was just a mutual misunderstanding. That label felt too simple for all the turmoil that had occurred, yet at the same time, an exhilarating amount of relief came with it which soon overrode the seething irritation that flashed by. The possibility of exploring a relationship with Alexia was so much more thrilling to focus on than all that could be different.
There was no use in dwelling on what could have been if this mistake hadn’t happened. Far too often have you done that in the past, and it’s never gotten you anywhere. Alexia had done the same during those lonesome nights after hours spent in the presence of thousands of people in stadiums across the world - going from being surrounded by countless adoring fans to nothing but overwhelming silence was something she had struggled with. It opened up a world of vulnerabilities for her, as she thought and thought and thought until the mental exertion exhausted her and she finally fell asleep.
Something that came with her ACL injury was the introduction of a psychologist, and it had forced her to change so many aspects of her life for the better. Like in this scenario now, where just like you, she wanted to disregard what hasn’t happened, and instead focus on the moment, and all the amazing things that could happen. Because, really, what was standing in her way apart from the threat of a road not taken? And the best thing of all, is that with one look in your eye, she knew you felt the same.
She knew you wanted the simplicity, rather than making it more difficult for yourselves which had happened already since that last goodbye in the bar. Once the realisation settled, the only thing left to do was acknowledge that fact.
“I didn’t. I didn’t see you write in the back, only the front.” Alexia murmured, pausing for a few seconds as the pair of you fell silent.
The pulse of the music could be faintly heard, as could the distant chatter of people passing by, but none of that mattered when the prospect of the future hung within reach between you both. It was that that had Alexia turning the chair she held onto around and slumping down into it out of shock. The adrenaline had run its course, and now it left a tranquil euphoria, a brewing excitement that took its time to build.
“So… you haven’t moved on.” You said about a minute later, holding back a smile that broke out anyway when Alexia laughed at it all.
“No. Not at all.”
Words seemed a little useless from then on. There were coy smiles on each of your faces afterwards, when everything had been hashed out and made clear despite it being slightly overdue. The only thing you could do was stand from your chair, walk the short distance that separated you both, and gaze down expectantly at Alexia. She stood too, the tables turning so that she was the one looking down now, but that didn’t matter for long, because before you knew it, her arms were back around you and embracing you so tightly that your feet lifted off the ground. You laughed into her neck, which in turn made her laugh too, and then the pair of you were just a mess in each other's arms.
It felt like someone had come along and stoked the fire in your heart again. The coldness that had settled in your bones at some point during the last months was gone, instead it had been replaced with the love you’d lacked for too long. This time, it didn’t have a time limit, you were free to relish in the fact that from this day on, there was always going to be someone on your side, a person there just for you. And there was a certain level of pride that came in knowing you were going to be that for Alexia too, because the way she held you so close to her heart, metaphorically and in this moment literally too, told you enough about how she felt.
When you leaned back and looked up at her, you saw the future in her eyes, one that didn’t seem so dauntingly alone and gloomy. There were also tears there too, to your surprise, and it only amplified what you knew about her already; she was made for you. She loved you.
“Please tell me I will not lose you for a second time. I cannot do that again.” She admitted the secret quietly, and before you had even found the words to answer her, the admission was stored away safely in your soul.
“No, you won’t. I… I think I need you, Ale.” You told her, closing your eyes as you rested your forehead against hers. You sensed the relieving sigh that Alexia let out and shared how she felt; at peace.
“I need you too.” Alexia mumbled in reply, her voice cracking with emotion that for once isn’t drowning her, instead, she feels more alive right now than she had since summer. “Te extrañé mucho. Mucho.”
You smiled. A genuine one, with no layers or falsity to it. You smiled because you could, because Alexia and all she was in that moment allowed you to feel worth your weight in gold, something that hardly ever came naturally to you. But with the blonde woman holding you so tentatively, firm in her love despite her fears, you owed it to her to provide the reaction her character brought out.
“I missed you a lot too.” You breathed out, years worth of inadequacy and shame leaving you as you did so. “I’m sorry for causing all this. And for-”
“Why are you apologising?” Alexia cut you off, pulling back from the embrace as her hands gently landed on your shoulders and the frown you had strangely missed came out in full force.
“Because I just made all this so difficult and caused you so much pain for no reason, I should have thought it through more and n-”
“No, don’t.” She shook her head and tugged you back in, her arms around your shoulders and a hand on the back of your head with her thumb stroking up and down comfortingly. “Don’t take yourself down that road. Do not place blame on yourself when there is none there. Please don’t. It is not your fault.”
All you could do at that was nod into her chest. Alexia’s advice hadn’t failed you thus far, so why stop listening to it now.
“I’m so glad I found you again. In a club of all places.” You said, giggling into her shoulder as she chuckled.
“I didn’t know you would be here.” Alexia stated, keeping her hands on your waist as her eyes were wide and adoring as they moved all over your face, almost as if she was in disbelief that she was really with you.
“María invited me, I don’t normally come to these things, but… I guess it’s a good job I did.” You replied bashfully, Alexia nodding immediately and making you laugh once more. “She said it was a big occasion or something? I don’t know, but it must be pretty big if the whole club is booked out.”
“It is a big thing. For us, anyway. I…” She glanced up at the building she was in earlier and her smile faltered a little. She was caught in two minds; she wanted to spend time with you, now that you were in her arms she didn’t want to let you out of her sight, but she also had made commitments to be here with her team tonight. It was an abnormality for her to agree to a night like this, but the excitement and the pleading from her teammates made her give in, and their joy at her attendance made it worth it. “The team won a big game earlier, so they wanted to celebrate. I don’t go to these things too. They begged me, so I should probably go back to them.”
“Okay.” You said, trying to disguise the dejection burning through you. Her hands gripped your sides a little tighter, like she knew what her words had done anyway.
“Will you come back in? With me?” She asked hopefully.
“I don’t know, I don’t want to intrude on your time with your team, especially if it’s a big celebra-”
You were interrupted once more, but there wasn’t exactly any complaining from your side. Alexia’s palms were cradling your cheeks, fingertips light and warm on your soft skin, and in much the same way as she did after that first date, she kissed you. Firmly and fervently, months worth of longing reaching its peak and crumbling with each movement of your lips. It was just as mind-numbing as you remembered- you’d thought a lot about those few kisses in Menorca and how you hadn’t had enough. There was no way you could ever wait that long for one again.
“You will not ‘intrude’ on us, I promise. If I could, I would take you on a date right now, but they will be angry if I do. When you are around, there’s no one else I want to spend time with.” Her eyes bored into yours as she held your face securely in her hands, ensuring you couldn’t look anywhere but at her and take in the honesty of her words. “I want you there. You.”
“I’ll go with you.” You responded like you were in a trance. You basically were: entranced by the affirmation that she wants you and you only. The blonde grinned and ducked down again to kiss you, more than content to revel in your touch now that she has you again.
After that, Alexia took your hand tight in hers and led you back into the club. You trailed behind her, happy to follow her lead, blushing each time she looked back at you with her charming smile that overflowed with utter joy, until you found yourselves back in the main area of the club. Understandably, the vast group of people you didn’t recognise, probably Alexia’s teammates, were partying hard together. There were people on each others’ shoulders, drinks being spilt, some rather abysmal and slurred singing, and a number of new faces that lit up when they saw Alexia again.
“Some of them are a bit loco. You will get used to them.” Alexia said into your ear, and when she moved back to gauge your reaction, she instantly recognised the uncertainty in your expression. Her arm curled around your waist, her lips pressed a kiss to your shoulder, and she gave a reassuring smile. “I will be with you, I’m not going anywhere.”
Like always, she stuck to her promise. Not for a second did she leave your side as she celebrated, introduced you to her teammates, and hardly took her eyes off you. Some part of her was always touching you, whether that be her arm around your shoulders, her hand brushing against hers as a finger linked with yours, a palm resting on your lower back as she guided you through the bustling room. And though it took some time to settle into the crowdedness, you eventually found yourself joining in with her teammates as they danced and took you in like one of their own.
Throughout the night, the blonde midfielder couldn’t hold back the smile on her face. Watching you fit right in with the people she considered family, whilst knowing to some degree how much you struggled with these things, flooded her with so much admiration and appreciation for you. It reached a new level, and though it was something she didn’t understand, each second she spent with you she felt herself falling more and more in love. Even if you did say ridiculous things like…
“You know what my favourite thing is about football? When you guys sit there at the side with your little blankets like the grandparents from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
She might have rolled her eyes at the declaration, but somehow she adored you impossibly more after it. Especially when the group of her teammates you were with burst out laughing at it, some firing off into teasing arguments at it as you turned to Alexia and gave her a beaming smile at the reaction. Before any of the others could wrap you up in a conversation again, she simply took your hand like she did earlier and walked you both over to the bar. Mapi, who had been part of that group and had almost passed out from pure elation when she saw the pair of you walk in together at the start of the night, watched you leave and nudged Ingrid vigorously. The poor Norwegian had been subject to all of the defender’s speculation and conspiracies of what had transpired between her two friends, and the dark-haired woman wasn’t sure if it was that or the current overwhelming excitement of her girlfriend that was worse.
Alexia ordered new drinks for you both at the bar, before turning to where you stood beside her and smiling softly down at you. You entertained her gaze, mirroring her smile as you waited for her to speak. But instead of doing so, she moved to stand behind you and tugged you back against her while her arms enveloped you completely. Her chin found home on your shoulder, her heart bursting at the seams when she heard you let out a content sigh. She turned her face into your neck then, discreetly scattering kisses up and down the skin there.
“Ale, what are you doing? All your teammates are here.” You told her quietly, leaning back into her and covering her arms with yours.
“Me da igual. Tendrás que perdonarme por ser tan pegajosa, pero no puedo apartar los ojos ni las manos de ti.” Alexia murmured, reaching around to grab her glass and take a sip from it, before focusing her attention back to you by kissing you. Her lips were cold from the ice of her drink, but they quickly warmed up against yours as she indulged in the kiss without a care for her surroundings. It was only when your drink was placed on the wood of the bar that she broke it off, smirking down at you and the blush to your cheeks.
If this was how she was going to act, you didn’t want the night to end.
Fortunately for you, it didn’t. Something you had learnt over the years was that the Spanish knew how to have a good night, and this was no different. The music kept coming, the euphoria kept running, and the dancing didn’t stop for a second. As the hours went on, Alexia came more and more out of her shell, and you saw a new side of her that made you weak at the knees.
Her actions got bolder as her inhibitions left her, and if she was clingy before, that only increased. Even when she substituted her alcohol for water, as did you, her affection continued to pour out. You were more than happy to revel in all she had to give. This was what you had longed for since the summer, and it still felt surreal that you were here right now.
Seeing Alexia so carefree and happy sparked the same feelings in you, it willed you to be just as open and unabashed in your joy, and it was fastly turning into one of the best times of your life because of it. But there were other feelings too, ones that were becoming quite unavoidable as they built up throughout the evening. And when the celebrations somehow amped up, there was a certain level of acknowledgement between you and Alexia. Your eyes communicated that to each other, coy smiles shared between you both in anticipation.
The pair of you continued to dance together, none the wiser to the partying around you anymore. You were more than content to stay in your own little bubble, allowing the tense thrill to grow whilst waiting for the other to make the first move. Unsurprisingly, it was Alexia who cracked, her next actions conveying the desperation that fizzed between the two of you.
“I think I said I had to make it up to you after our first date, no?” She hummed from behind you, one arm around your stomach as the other brushed your hair from your neck so that she could attach her lips to your pulse as she awaited your answer.
“Yes. Please.” The second word slipped out unknowingly, only realising what you had said after Alexia smirked into your skin. Her confidence radiated from her, and you took it and ran with it. “Don’t act like you don’t need it too, la reina.”
“Don’t call me that.” She grumbled and you turned in her hold with a raised eyebrow, your arms linking around her neck.
“What would you like instead?” You challenged, feeling her hands tighten their grasp just slightly.
“You know. Ale. Alexia.” You hummed and nodded, leaning a little closer and kissing her jaw on your way to placing your lips beside her ear.
“And where would you prefer me to call you that? Here, in this club where you can hardly hear me with your friends all around? Or in your apartment, in your bed?”
It was that final question from you that had her breathing in sharply and leading you out of the club for the final time that night. Earlier, when you left in a rush, you were wracked with anxiety and self-doubt. Now, you laughed with the woman you loved as she flagged down a taxi and clambered in behind you. She listed off her address as you gazed meekly at her from your seat, heart eyes so glaringly obvious despite the dim light of the car. Granted, she could probably feel your stare more than she could see it, though there wasn’t much else that the midfielder wanted to focus her attention on.
She smirked and shook her head when she noticed, her hand travelling across the middle seat and reaching its destination on your thigh. You placed your own over it, squeezing it once and averting your eyes to the city’s scenery that passed by, unable to maintain your infatuated look due to the overloading feeling of ardour that reinforced itself every time the footballer was in your vicinity.
Throughout the car ride to Alexia’s apartment, it was majoritively silent, bar the deafening beating of your heart in your ears that grew in its volume the closer you got. The driver’s GPS sounded out as he parked outside the building, and Alexia rushed to pay him before getting out and offering her hand to you. You took it with a shy grin, swinging it between you both as you made your way inside.
Back at the club, the tension was palpable and unmistakably charged. However, it had taken a turn during the short journey. Now it was teeming with nerves, both aware of what faces you when you step foot in that apartment. There’s exhilaration and simmering desire too due to how much you want it, it was something that had been thought about individually late at night. Ultimately, this would add a whole new layer to the growing relationship, and neither of you wanted to wait a second longer to be able to savour the aftermath and the moment.
And in the end, it was inexplicably better than you could have imagined. Once the initial awkwardness wore off, the desperation took over and gave the night a tale to tell. You hadn’t experienced anything like it– it was tentative and ineffably intimate and something you wouldn’t forget. It was perfect.
Most importantly, it didn’t leave you in a pit of anxiety afterwards. Being able to freely relish in the moment when it was over in the comforting hold of the figure you loved so wholly was something you appreciated greatly. Words wouldn’t do it justice, what it meant to you. All you could do was return the benevolence handed to you on a silver platter and hope that Alexia understood the gravity behind your actions.
The sheets covered your sated bodies, you with your head on her chest as her arms held you securely and sincerely, and they rustled when she reached over into her bedside table for something. You leaned up a little in confusion, watching her curiously as she searched around the drawer, only to pull out the bane of your existence.
“What are you doing with that?” You asked humorously, nestling back down into the warm, sturdy body beneath you.
She had gotten out your book. With a hum, she opened it and flicked to the back page. There she found your number, written clearly just as you had told her.
“I don’t believe it.” Alexia mumbled, one of her fingers tracing the ink there. “It really was there.”
Quietly, without disrupting the serenity of the room that had settled, you took it from her hands and dropped it onto the table on your side. Then you turned back to her, brushing some strands of hair from her face as you rested upon your elbows and cupped her face. You looked at her with a pointed gaze, leaning down to place a slow, meaningful kiss to her lips, before pulling back.
“Forget about that. We’re here now.” You whispered, thumbs stroking softly over her cheekbones as she accepted your words, willing herself out of that regretful mindset. Because she had you, right where she wanted you.
“We’re here now.” She repeated with a loving smile, one you instantly reciprocated as you nodded at her response.
On a night like this, there wasn’t much else that needed to be said. So you laid back down then, on your side as Alexia copied your position with the covers pulled up to your shoulders, face to face and barely able to make out each other’s features in the dark room.
That book, the one you nervously handed over to Alexia back in Menorca, was possibly one of the most revealing things you had done. It didn’t quite go the way you expected it to go, but it didn’t matter in the end. You got the result you wanted and it was so much better than you anticipated. There was still a lot to learn, about each other and the lives you led, though nothing felt unaccomplishable now that you had Alexia on your team.
Alexia didn’t quite know when your book had moved from the top of the table into the drawer, but it probably had something to do with how much it hurt to look at. It still didn’t fill her with the best thoughts whenever she saw it. She had no doubts that you being with her now would change that. She could see herself reading it in the near future, with you on the opposite end of the sofa, your feet in her lap as she got a glimpse into your soul. New memories could be made with it, and even right now, despite the grievances she had with it, it was still something she treasured deeply and she knew that would only become more true as time went on.
In your current position, you could just make out how deeply she was looking at you. There were a lot of things swirling around those favourite eyes of yours, but it was the insecurities there that you hadn’t noticed previously which caught your attention. Wordlessly, you willed her to voice them, and she did.
“Things might get difficult sometimes.” She began, and you acknowledged it with a gentle nod and a kiss to the corner of her mouth. “There is… a lot that comes with my job that I do not enjoy. I am afraid it will come between us.”
You could only guess what she meant. Finding out exactly what that was, was a task for another day. Right now, she needed your belief and your assurances, you knew that.
“I don’t care about that. As long as you promise that I’ll have you, then I don’t care about anything else. I only need you, that’s all. The rest is just background noise.” You told her, pleased to see those doubts dissipate before you, her whole body language changing as it did.
“You do. You do have me. I promise.” Alexia stated firmly, quietly sighing out of relief and exhaustion.
The day was beginning to take its toll on her. It had been pretty packed, with a full game of fiercely competitive football, partying, a whole load of emotions, and the events afterwards that had gotten her to this point. Sleep didn’t come so easily to you, even after all that had happened. You gladly took the extra time to rake your eyes over Alexia’s face, who seemed so at peace as she began to drift off. There was a brief moment where you envied that fact, but you shoved that thought away as quick as it came, because that was the old you. There was a new version of you now, and it was one that did have the capability to experience that very same tranquillity that Alexia was in the midst of. And it was all down to her, the woman resting in your arms.
There was just one more thing you needed clarity about, and it unfortunately meant disturbing the blonde’s bliss, but it couldn’t wait.
“Ale, will you go on a date with me?” You asked shyly, waiting for her reaction with a grimace, for what reason you weren’t sure of. She chuckled under her breath and subtly shook her head, which was indeed not what you were looking for, until she spoke before you could panic.
“You really just asked that after we spent the evening together and had sex?”
Your hand covered her mouth immediately, though the damage was already done and she laughed at that fact.
“It was a simple question that needed a simple yes or no.” You attempted to come across as serious, but there was a smile already there as Alexia pulled your hand away and nodded.
Her lips found yours in what you thought could be deemed as the softest kiss in mankind, before she leans back just enough to be able to murmur her answer against your lips.
“You don’t have to ask.”

Shinchiro x Reader
Part (2/2)
After u told him u were pregnant Shin immediately goes into Dad Mode, hes also very protective of you and watches every step that u do around the house….both of u can’t wait to meet ur baby
Tw:Child birth,Complications,Angst,Many Pregnancy and Medical Terms,Birth,Shinchiro beeing a Dad😭🥹
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
U heard Shins car pulling into the driveway of ur home as u were sitting on the couch reading a Parenting Book that he had bought a couple of weeks ago.It was so sweet watching him go into Dad Mode,he not only buys parenting books,he also read that if u hold up the Belly of a pregnant person that it reliefs their back cause Babys can get heavy. He did that ever time u cooked or bushed ur teeth cause then he could feel ur tense and exhausted body relaxing against his own.
4 Months have passed since u told him and ur belly grew bigger and heavier by the day,u also had less energy and swollen feet that hurt and cramped a lot so on some days u could barely get up from ur shared bed or the Couch. And unfortunately today was one of these Days.
The Door unlocked and u heard Shins voice in the Hall shouting ur Name and that he was home.He expected u to run into his arms but as u didn’t he was concerned,he finished putting of his shoes and getting into his comfy house slippers. He then rushed into the Living Room where u were.
“Hey Honey how was work?” u asked and sat up a bit straighter, only to be met with not only back pain but also a cramp in your leg which made u hiss in pain.
“Is everything alright?” he asks concerned and sits at the end of the couch.
“My feet are killing me and my back to…” u whine and u lay ur head down on the arm rest.Beeing Pregnant was not easy you knew that but being that exhausted and in pain all the time was blowing ur expectations.
“Can i help i any way Love” your Husband asks and leans forward to put a hand on your Belly.
“No but thanks,i did not make dinner today or i couldn’t make any cause i am trapped on this couch” Shin could hear the disappointment in ur Voice,he knew that u thought it was ur duty to clean and cook and do house work cause he was Working his ass of to pay the bills.Never in a million years would he expect anything from you he lived alone before and hey he was still living and thriving he knew how to handle a household on his own.
“Honey i will make us dinner, and please dont feel guilty for not doing anything cause u are already doing so much for me”he says and presses a kiss against ur forehead.
“What am i doing for your right now?” u ask him cause the only thing u did today or since u were on maternity leave was getting dressed, making breakfast when u could and sitting around till ur pain was better and that was never ur were always in pain the last two months.
“U are growing a Human from scratch that is what ur doing Love,u don’t need to do anything around here i will do it okay.U should rest and relax”he says with a serious look on his face.
“But i am your wife i should help my husband out,i mean u pay for everything”you say and look at him with a sad and disappointed expression.
“U are my Wife. Not my mum.My mom cooked for me washed my clothes and stuff okay. And u are my Wife u are the love of my life for gods sake u should not feel forced to do stuff like that i can do it myself,if u want to do these things fine but never do it cause u should as a Wife” this man will be the death of u he was so understanding and sweet all the time that you would marry him again any day.
U gave him a thankful look and he was off to change before he cooked both of u dinner.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
U tought the Days were the worst part and that everything will be better at night u were so wrong. Not only did ur body hurt like shit ur Baby also kicked u every chance he or she got.It hurt but it was also a sign that there was a life growing inside of you but this life could also be a little bit gentle with the person that was living on the outside you tought.
And so u were awake at 3 in the Morning kicking the cover off of u cause u were too hot and the other moment to cold. And to not wake up Shin who had to get up earlier than he usually does cause Mikeys Racing Team needed new bikes and stuff u wandered off into the nursery.
It was painted in neutral colours cause u did not know the gender yet the crib was built and the Chainging table and a Rocking Chair.U smiled at the thought of Ur Husband brining home this Chair u had voiced to him that u wanted a rocking Chair in the Nursery to read Books to ur baby and he got u a beautiful one with a pattern that matches the colours.
In the next weeks both of u would find out the gender of the Baby both of u did bot care about the gender of the baby “at least our Baby is healthy and happy” Shin always said when u asked him if he wanted a Girl or a Boy.But u knew that Shinchiro wanted a Girl just like Draken and Emma.
Emma had told u that she thinks that its a Girl cause “girls steal away their mother beauty” .Which u could not believe cause Emma was Glowing her entire pregnancy and she gave birth to a Girl. But u lost ur glow the past few months which made u a bit self conscious and sad.But ur Sister in Law always reminded u that u were Beautiful and Perfect and that there was a Baby growing under ur heart and that ur Body was working overtime. She also said that the “Pregnancy Glow” faded away after the 4th Month and that some Women just not have it or they experience it at the end of their Journey.
“Just imagine Me ur Dad and you sitting here playing something with you or reading…” u whisper to ur belly and the baby kicked u as if it could understand you.
“I see you agree my little one..” u say and put a hand on your belly and u felt another kick. The kicks always reminded u of the Moment when ur Husband felt the first kick of ur child.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
The Evening was hot and it started to rain when u and ur lover sat down at the couch he was sitting behind u and held ur belly gently. The feeling of his body against urs was a familiar one and one that made ur soul feel at home.
U both just sat there in peace the only sound was ur synchrone Breathing and the Rain from outside. But then u felt a sudden kick it was a light one but u felt it.
« Did u feel that too » he whispers from behind you.
« Yes our baby kicked me »u whisper back.
« Wow….nature is truly a miracle hmm » he humms and kisses ur hairline.
« Thank you Love » he whispers after a bit of silence.
« For what » u ask.
« For giving me the Chance to be a father and have a family,i am so grateful for you i love u »he says and pulls u closer against his chest.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
This was one of the best moments in ur pregnancy so far,u smile to yourself and rub ur belly gently.
„Is the little one keeping u up?“ a deep and sleepy voice asked u and u turned around.
The darkness of ur home revealed ur lover who looked so done with life and sleepy.
„Yes she keeps kicking me“u say.
„She?…do you know something i dont know“he asks with his arms crossed.
„No but i think its a girl…..something in me says its a girl“u say and get closer to him.
„I mean i have nothing against that if its a boy i wouldn’t be disappointed the only thing that matters is that they are healthy“ he pulls u closer to him and kisses ur lips gently.
„Lets get u back to bed okay?“he says sleepily and u agree.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
Back in bed the kicking started again and u were awake another time.
„Hey my little one in there“ Shin whisper to your belly as he notices ur discomfort.
„Ur mom out here is trying her best to grow you, could you please let her sleep“ he continues, and to ur surprise the kicking stops.U moth to him „it works keep going“ and so he does.
„So when u are older one day,Daddy will take u for a ride on his bike and ohh…one day u will have a bike of ur own i have a good one in mind but u can of course choose one yourself love.“a kiss was pressed against ur belly and with Shinchiros voice and the relief ur body experienced now u fell asleep quickly.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
Those five months passed quickly, and things got better ur backpain was not that strong and ur feet were quiet normal. And to ur and Shins luck both of u found out that u are having a little baby girl.
As both of u found out Shin cried happy tears and u did too.And after that nothing could bring the smile from shins face his wife was having a little girl and he will be a girl dad soon.
Both of u decorated the Nursery in different shades of pink to make it look girly, and everything seemed perfect but that exact evening u noticed that ur Backpain was worsening and that u had several abodem pain……
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
It was normal ur midwife had told u ur Body was prepping for Birth and u had something called Braxton Hicks which were false contractions that prepped ur body for the extreme pain of labour. But as the days go by ur false contractions seemed to get worse. They came in 1 to 2 hours and they were so painful that u either need to grab on the nearest thing for support or sit down.
„Love,i know its just these false contractions but please lets go to the gynaecologist and let him check if everythings okay“ ur Husband suggested as u were holding onto him for support as u breathed trough a contraction.
„Okay but he will tell u the same thing as the midwife“u tought.
But ur doctor told u that u were indeed in real labour and that u had to be rushed to the hospital.
It was a shock for both of u cause the baby then would be one and a half weeks early which was not good cause the babys development was not fully completed before the 40th week of pregnancy.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
The Sky was foggy and a Storm was building up outside of the Hospital windows.
U were placed in the maternity ward and the doctors did their best to delay the birth cause the risk of ur baby having complications or u having complications while birth were a bit too high to risk.
U felt like u were going insane in this room u hated hospitals, the smell and the vibe were uncomfortable to you.
But ur Room was a bit more colourful and it had a light that was not too bright and the light color was warmer but it still felt like a hospital.
U were placed on an IC with Tocolytics this medication could delay birth and it seemed to be working well.Cause ur abodem pain reduced a bit.And ur Baby girl she was still kicking u but u could not complain cause u were afraid if she did not she may be dead.It hurt but u at least had a sign that she was okay and alive.
And ur Husband he was glued to you he stayed at the hospital with you he was with u the whole two days u were now here,u begged him to go home to shower and get a bit of comfortable sleep but he refused. In the end both of u agreed that one night but only one night he will sleep at home but in that time Emma and Draken will stay with u for a bit so u agreed.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
As she saw you Emma was in tears u looked stressed and tired ur hair was greasy and a mess and the Robe they gave u was very uncomfortable.
So she proposed the idea that she will wash ur hair and help you get dressed while Draken was bringing theier Child to Mikey and his Girlfriend.
And after a proper hairwash and after u changed into leggins and a Shirt from ur Husband u felt a bit more human and a bit more like yourself.
Emma tried to get u away from ur worries.
„Her Birthday was really nice but her amazing aunt was missing“she told u about ur Nieces Birthday, that u sadly missed cause u were already a day in the hospital and u could not leave.
„I am so sorry Emma“ u whisper.
„Heyy no need to be sorry we are talking about ur Babys and ur Life and Health here she will always be your niece and you will always be her aunt“she coos and lays her hand over yours.
„Shin visited us in the late afternoon,he told us about u and that he needed to go back to you before you wake up.“ she tells u.
„He really Loves u dear,i have never seen my half brother so happy“ her smile was soft and her hand was now holding yours.
„Emma i am scared shitless“ u confess and Emma gave u a small laugh.
„No need to be,u will get trough this and ur baby will too you know why?“ u chook ur head in response.
„Cause u are her mother and u are a strong woman“ she answeres you and u give her a exhausted smile.
And with that u drift of into a well needed slumber.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
Ur Baby was not breathing as they handed her over to you.Her face was pale and her Body lacked any kind of heat,ur world crashed in that moment.U screamed out of pain, pain cause u lost the one thing u loved as much as ur Husband. It was all too much for ur body and everything around u went dark.
A Hand was placed on your Arm and two familiar eyes looked into yours.
„Are you okay Love“ ur Husband asks as u wake up from ur Nightmare. It was a Nightmare was it if not u would loose ur mind.
„Am i still pregnant,is she still alive….Shin tell me“ u say as u panicked.
„Hey…u had a bad dream yes,and u are still pregnant and our baby is doing well“ he assures you and he shifts from his Chair at ur bedside to the mattress u were laying on.He took ur hand in his and pressed a kiss to every finger of ur Hand.
„We will get trough this baby“he says in a calm tone. And leans against ur frame,u craved his presence so much right now u just wanted him closer to you to just hold you close and kiss u.But the IV made that Impossible.
„Shin please hold me“u say and u were close to tear,u shifted a bit to the right for him to lay beside you.And like that u drifted off into a peaceful slumber. While he was beside you.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
The Birth was now only two days away from ur calculated day and the risk was lower that something happens to you and the baby so they got u off of the medication and now u needed to wait.Till u were ready to finally give birth. And as the Doctors finally confirmed that it was time u were a bit relieved that ur pregnancy will be over and also a bit sad.
The Birth was going without any complications and Shin was there every second he held ur hand and u almost broke it by squeezing it so hard, and even if u did he couldn’t care less.Shin knew that labour was painful and exhausting and he tought he could handle it well. But hearing u scream for ur life did things to his heart that almost broke it into pieces. But as u pushed a final Time and u heard a loud cry. Both of u we’re relieved she was here ur Baby Girl was finally here.U looked up at Shin and you could see the tears in his eyes.
Ur newborn was placed on your bare chest moments after, she was perfect she has black hair like Shin and beautiful eyes like you she was the perfect mix of both of u.
« I am so proud of u,i am so proud of u of both of u,had to go tough so much »Shin says in a quiet tone to not upset the newborn who was slowly drifting into sleep. He strokes over her head gently and kisses the top of urs.
« Shes perfect Shin » u say exhausted.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
Both of u were glad to be home after such nerv wrecking Days.
And Shin was the best dad ever,he fed the baby when you couldn’t,he changed her diapers, rocked and read her to sleep and what u found the cutest were the talks he had with her before bed.
U were fresh out of the Shower when u got down and u saw ur husband standing in ur living room the front to ceiling windows open so the coolness of the rain could go into your too warm home.He stood there and rocked her too sleep.
“Daddy will always protect u,and ur daddy will always be there when u need him and so will ur mommy”he coos to her and gives her a kiss on the forehead.
“And when ur older u can play with ur Cousins, they are very exited too meet u next week”he continues to whisper to the sleeping newborn in his toned arms.
“U have a very loving Family and they all love u very much but ur Mom and i love u way more than them”and with that he notices u standing behind him.U get closer to him and lean ur head against his shoulder and look down at the Human both of u made out of love for each other.
“Thank you” he says quietly and u lean up to kiss him.The sound of the rain calmed all of u down which was all needed.Ur Future was bright with a Family like that and u could not wait for more moments like this to come.
❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁•❁
Thank your for reading this fic.And i think my Browser now thinks i am pregnant 😀😭

No Nut November!!
»»----------► GN!Reader
Read about the Losers here
Satan finds you in the school library, searching for a book to write your report on. He passes Levi and Mammon bickering in hushed tones nearby, and grabs a tome that you were struggling to reach.
"Pardon me," he says as his hand rests on your lower back, "I leave you alone for two minutes and the wolves descend."
"I can't believe you're quoting Twilight at me." You snort, snatching the book from his hands and tucking it under your arm. It had been a joke when you suggested he read it, but he had enthusiastic about the idea, and now he uses it to tease you any chance he gets. You don't want to admit how well his voice suits the role, but still, you let him press your bodies together.
"Can I ask you a question?" Satan asks after he's also done chuckling.
"Always," you say.
"What's no nut november?"
"WHO TAUGHT YOU THAT PHRASE?"
The library-goers reprimand you with a resounding chorus of disturbed whispers and angry shushing.
WINNERS:
It would not be the first time Lucifer would go without sexual activity due to the immense workload from Diavolo. When you're practically as old as time, a month is nothing. Though he considers the challenge to be rather childish, as are most of the shenanigans his brothers get up to, his pride refuses to back down from the fight.
What he carelessly forgot to consider was you. Ever the troublemaker yourself, he expected you to tease him for agreeing to the silly game, but he never foresaw sabotage.
There were multiple nights where you'd slink quietly into his bed, waking the demon up with your mouth around his cock, suckling the precum from the head. When you would see his eyes flutter open, you'd take him whole, swallowing him down until your nose brushed against his pelvis. Thankfully, he'd wake up before you could cost him his victory, playfully swatting you off while you'd laugh and laugh.
You never escaped unscathed, as Lucifer would grab you as soon as you tried to flee and make you ride him until you were shaking. The feel of your body trembling above him is enough to send him over the edge, and he'd squeeze the base of his cock, desperately trying to keep his orgasm at bay.
Despite your efforts, he managed to finish the month without incident, though he paid you back in kind as soon as December rolled around.
Beel wins because he is easily distracted by his busy game schedule and, of course, food.
Instead of sabotaging, you support Beel through his efforts by constantly carrying snacks. You can grow closer to him now that the others aren't competing for your attention (They heard of your efforts for sabotage and have been avoiding you). Afternoons are spent as an unofficial cheerleader during his Fangol practice, while evenings are spent experimenting with different recipes, Beel serving as your personal taste tester.
Mornings are the roughest, as you can't distract Beel within his dreams. You've woken up to his large hands roaming your body, soft groans rumbling in his throat, and drool slipping from the corner of his lips. His whispered mumblings would be so cute if it weren't for the lewd position he's trapped you in, leg slung around his waist and face buried between his ample pecs. He holds you still against him, hips grinding his cock between your legs, leaving no room to wonder what exactly he's dreaming of.
It's a fight to escape his arms as you attempt to reach for the cookies left on the bedside table. The struggle wakes the demon, who smiles sheepishly at you once he realizes what is happening. Unfortunately, you have to leave him alone after these incidents, lest you become the tempestuous snack of the day.
Like his brother, Belphegor can easily distract himself from his urges with the thought of sleep. He spends most of November holed up in the attic or his bedroom, cuddling his cow print pillow and softly snoring away the challenge. You tried a few times to tempt the demon but were unsuccessful because you couldn't manage to wake him up from his slumber.
He still finds time to be a brat, though. Nap time quickly turns into his play time, as he uses his powers to influence your dreams, turning whatever surreal scene that plays into a den of debauchery. The magical connection is permanently severed before either of you can finish; however, each night, you wake sweating and alone in the comfort of your bed, with a new memory of how Belphie used your body for his own pleasure. Your core clenches around nothing, aching to be filled in a way that the dreams could never satisfy.
You can hear his smug tone when he texts you after. It's a mere reminder that you should be sleeping, especially if you're to have energy for the next night. With a groan, you contemplate exposing his cheating to his brothers and having him disqualified. You decide against it but set a reminder to ask Solomon about dream magic when you see him next.
This man barely has alone time as it is. Luke keeps him busy throughout the day, and Simeon is too tired when night rolls around. Still, the angel had agreed to play, while you're mortified to learn one stupid conversation with Levi had spread to Purgatory Hall. You don't risk tempting him; you don't know if you could forgive yourself if you were to ruin his heavenly status.
That doesn't stop Simeon from interrupting while you set the table, plates in hand, as he presses you against the solid wood. It's a test of multiple limits; The brothers are in the kitchen; one could walk out any moment and catch the angel trying not to cum as he grinds against your backside. His gloved hands dig into your sides, holding you close as Simeon teases himself against your body, whispering praises in your ear and making heat pool in your core.
He's done as quickly as he started, cock throbbing in his pants as he excuses himself to the bathroom, murmuring about a cold water remedy. You don't have an excuse at the ready when Lucifer glares at you, finding the table halfway set as the brothers file out from the kitchen.
Like Simeon, Barbatos doesn't have the time; truthfully, he'd rather be baking anyway. He agrees to play simply because he knows how easily he'll win. The demon doesn't worry about your interference either, finding it much more enjoyable to serve your whims. After all, the game says nothing about helping others find pleasure in his touch.
That's how you find yourself bent over the kitchen counter, two of his lithe fingers thrusting inside of you. He urges you to be quiet, saying your moans will wake the castle before mirthfully chastising you for the "mess" you're creating. The pleasure is so overwhelming that you can't manage a response, which only makes the demon butler delightfully smile.
Barbatos is always thorough; when you finally reach your release, he drops to his knees and cleans the slick that coats your thighs. He's not afraid to be obscene, lewdly and loudly sucking on your skin, leaving behind minor purple marks, his own reward for resisting the temptation.

SSR Rollo Flamme - Student Council President Robes Vignette
"...How carefree."
[Noble Bell College – Bell Tower Interior]
Rollo: Sigh… There is a slight chill. In addition, the sun is rising later as each day passes.
Rollo: Heh… This is a wonderful season. The time I must spend exchanging idle prattle with my idiotic classmates grows shorter.
Rollo: Now, before everyone awakens, I will do what I can to fulfill my duties.
Rollo: …And it would be a nuisance if I were to be spotted by those irritating bunch, as well.
[Noble Bell College – Bell Tower Upstairs]
[gargoyles clanking around]
Rollo: AUGH, SILENCE! You blasted gargoyles.
Rollo: All your merry romping is completely undignified. Can you not settle down for even a single moment?
[gargoyles happily clanking around]
Rollo: Ugh, yes, I will be sure to tend to you all next weekend. After all, I cannot tolerate abandoning a task that I have taken on.
Rollo: If you understand, then leave me be. I have more important matters to attend to.
[gargoyles clank away]
Rollo: …Finally, they've left. Good grief, they are indeed a troublesome group.
Rollo: It is repulsive enough that they operate on magic, but they are much worse in conjunction with all that atrocious noise...
Rollo: If their whole purpose of existence were not to protect the bell tower, I would have long ignored those hunks of stone.
Rollo: …Would you not agree, dear Bell of Salvation?
Rollo: Heheh. You are as beautiful as ever today.
Rollo: How wonderful it would be if everyone were just like you.
Rollo: You ring when you should ring and are silent when you should be silent. Nothing could be more appropriate and certain.
Rollo: …Ah. The sun will rise soon.
Rollo: I should finish cleaning before the bell ringers arrive.
Rollo: Please bestow upon us your beautiful resounding tones again today, dear Bell of Salvation.
[Noble Bell College – Courtyard]
Rollo: It's finally time for lunch.
Rollo: This should be a good distance away so I would not have to suffer the prattling of those unpleasant mages. I shall rest here…
???: Oh, President, here you are!
Rollo: Hm?
Vice President: I was searching for you, Rollo-kaichō. Why are you eating your lunch all the way out here?
Rollo: Oh, it's you…
Vice President: I see you're having bread for lunch. I never see you in the cafeteria, so I had no idea.
Rollo: That's right.
Rollo: 2 croissants and 16 singular grapes, as well as one cup of café au lait.
Rollo: That's all. That is my lunch every single day, 365 days a year.
Vice President: Eh, every day? YOU HAVE THE SAME THING FOR LUNCH EVERY DAY!?
Rollo: With a strict routine, I am able to forgo any unnecessary desires. It is rather refreshing. I wholeheartedly recommend you try it as well.
Vice President: I-I don't think I could do it. I'd probably get tired of the same stuff quickly.
Rollo: …How unfortunate that you are not a kindred spirit. More importantly, you had some business of me?
Vice President: Ah, right. Your professor was searching for you just a moment ago.
Vice President: It sounds like they wanted your permission to publish in a newspaper the essay you wrote on your impressions of that one book.
Rollo: A newspaper? …You wouldn't happen to be referring to the "Shaftlands News," that I read for my morning paper, would you?
Vice President: That's right. It's absolutely amazing that you'll be featured in such a big newspaper! That's Rollo-kaichō for you!
Vice President: I also heard that you were the only one who received a perfect score on the Potionology test in today's class.
Rollo: Hmph. It's nothing of import.
Vice President: No need to be so humble! Why, just the other day, you even brought to bloom a water blossom that is said to be very difficult to cultivate. The professors were very impressed.
Vice President: I truly hold you in high regard. There is no other mage at this school that has as much exceptional expertise as you!
Rollo: Is that so? …How ironic.
Vice President: Is something the matter?
Rollo: Nothing of concern. Rather, thank you for your message. Sorry to have caused you trouble.
Vice President: Not at all! But since I'm here, could I take lunch with you?
Rollo: …Well, I am just about done eating. I will be heading right to the professor's office now.
Rollo: Forgive me, but I must head out. We can partake in lunch together some other time.
Vice President: Alright. Then, we'll do it some other time!
[Noble Bell College – Lecture Hall]
Rollo: …How carefree. Why would he speak to me so familiarly, when he cannot even understand my thoughts…?
Rollo: Ah, but there is no time to dwell on that. I must head towards the staff room.
[City of Flowers]
[enters store]
Rollo: Hello.
Rollo: …Yes, that's correct. I would like to order the usual letterhead and envelope. Yes, one of the white ones.
Rollo: …Heh, I agree. Even if it may be considered an anachronism, I believe letters are wonderful tools.
Rollo: It may not be as convenient as sending an e-mail or making a phone call, but with more care and thought placed into each word, one can avoid any careless language.
Rollo: Hm? There is a cheaper stationary set similar to this one, from a different maker? …No, I am perfectly content with my usual fare.
Rollo: I could not bring myself to change the physical appearance of the letter after writing them for so long. I prefer to keep my things consistent and orderly, after all.
Rollo: …Yes, indeed. Thank you for everything, as always. Goodbye.
[leaves store]
Rollo: …A superb shopkeeper. As one would expect from a resident of the city that the Righteous Judge loved so.
Rollo: As a student of Noble Bell College, I must strive to be just as noble.
Rollo: …This city is a pleasant place to reside. The people are amiable, and the scenery is fantastic.
Rollo: However, all these beautiful flowers were originally cultivated with magic…
Rollo: Flowers… Magic…
Rollo: Mheh… Hehehe… Hehehehe…
Goat: Baa, baa.
Rollo: Hm, a goat, is it? What do you hope to gain from nestling up against me?
Rollo: Perhaps you are hungry. Unfortunately, I don't have anything that you could eat.
Rollo: If you are hoping for me to feed you, you would be better off finding someone else…
Goat: Baaa~
Rollo: What? …Are you attempting to snatch my stationary!?
Rollo: How vile… No, you cannot have it. I am very partial to this specific stationary.
Rollo: Moreover, eating paper will cause you digestive issues. I shan't think any less of you. You should give u… Hey, let go this instance!
Goat: Baaa~~
Rollo: You wretched goat! If you do not release my papers, I will have to just…!
Rollo: Ah. No, there are too many people who may see…
Rollo: If you weren't a creature cherished by this city, I wouldn't hesitate to send you flying.
Rollo: Consider this a narrow escape.
Goat: BAAA!
Rollo: Don't you dare gnaw on my robe! I may find the City of Flowers to be spectacular in and of itself, however I cannot approve of these unsanitary conditions.
[Noble Bell College – Student Board Room]
Rollo: "In conclusion, I am doing as well as ever. My best wishes to you both, as well." …
Rollo: …Perhaps that is a tad too formal.
Rollo: No matter. It is enough for my parents to hear that I am doing well here.
Rollo: They have always been worrisome…
Rollo: Much too worrisome… Ever since…
Rollo: …
Rollo: The fire…
Rollo: …
Rollo: …Well. I suppose I could provide additional updates in the letter.
Rollo: I'm certain I will be unable to fall asleep sufficiently tonight, at any rate. I'll continue revising it as much as possible.
Rollo: I have nothing but time, after all…

Hello can you write about getting into a relationship with volturi guard? How is that process would be like? Thank you💗
Getting into a relationship with them (HC)
A/N: Sorry it took a while to get out 😅. Hope you like it 💙 (I noticed a certain familiar name for the GIF of Alec😁)
Felix:
You know that phrase “Right time, right place”?
Well you were in the middle of your Junior abroad trip in Barcelona, when you decided instead of going to the beach like your peers were you headed to the library called “Biblioteca Publica Arus”
You were skimming through the bookcases not really paying attention to anything but the books when you bumped into something, well more like someone
About to apologize you were caught off guard by how tall he was, mouth was hanging slightly open and eyes widen kind of deal
How the fuck can he be so tall….and so handsome!? Wait? Red Eyes???
“Ay perdón, no estaba prestando atención a lo que me rodeaba.” (Omg sorry, I was not paying attention to my surroundings)
Not expecting him to have such an irresistible deep voice with an accent that left you feeling weak in the knees he answer “No te preocupes hermosa, debería ser yo quien te diga lo siento, claramente estás en tu área de interés y te interrumpí.” (“Don't worry beautiful, I should be the one saying sorry to you, your clearly in your area of interest and I disrupted you”) and he finished that off with a wink
That wink had your mind going in an overload of emotions
You guys introduce yourselves and he took you out for Crema Catalana
He didn't eat any which you found odd but none of that mattered when you were with him
There was just something about him that made you feel so attracted to him, it's an indescribable feeling but all you knew is you wanted to be with him forever
He was absolutely a sweetheart with you, held the doors open for you, would listen to you when you would ramble about your studies and your hometown, he also shared about his life and said he was just passing through
It was like that for a couple of week when you have time off from your studies until you had to go back to your university, you feel for him hard
He offered you to come with him back to Italy and you could go to a school that is nearby, all expenses paid and you would get to live with him
You would be crazy not to take the offer so you did
Now skip to a year, obviously you know about him being a Vampire and have meet the other guards, but you have never felt so happy
He told you about the mate bond (which made so much sense now), and your changed date was set after you graduate
If you never went to that library who knew if you would of ever meet your hunk of a mate
Demetri:
It was feeding time for the Volturi, and you happened to be one of the unfortunate souls so be part of the group
You can't be blamed with this, you got convinced to take this tour by a beautiful goddess who could probably convince you to do anything if she wanted
So here you were admiring the interior design on this ancient castle, you were a sucker for this type of architecture
The tour ‘ended’ in a throne-like room, it was gorgeous in there, but wait…is that a drain? Or two? Why are we surrounded by what you can describe as beautiful beings who are too beautiful to be humans?
Oh shit! Am I going to die? This is what I get for following my love for women and exquisite architecture mindlessly
As if on cue the beautiful beings around the room come at the group and you witness so much blood and screams
Vampires!? Soon after that realization you spot one stalking towards you like a predator does to a prey, he’s beautiful with his brown locks and burgundy eyes maintaining his eyes on you
Before he even gets to you, you feel someone grab you and pull against their chest with covering your mouth, you try to fight but you hear a husky seductive voice whisper into your ear “Relax gorgeous face, i'm not going to let you get hurt, trust me”
He took you to a room and said he will be back later
He came back and oh dear gosh he is beautiful
He revealed his identity and why he saved you
From that day your destiny was to live with Demetri and one day become a Vampire like him
Of course it took you a while to get used to be with everyone else but with time you grew close to them
You later found out the one who was about to drain you dry that fateful day was Alec (he of course apologize, but you always kept an eye on him)
With Demetri it took you a solid 2 weeks when you gave him a kiss, he was patient with you and he wanted you to make the moves or waited for you to give him permission to do other things
He was easy to be around, you guys would talk about anything, and he would take you out to the most romantic or cutest dates, there was no inbetween
The relationship just happened to become so natural, almost like you knew each other since forever
Alec:
Boy oh boy are you for a ride
You happen to meet to be a witness for the Cullens for the whole ‘immortal child’ fiasco, you knew Carlisle since he was turned so you were really good friends
When the Volturi arrived, you got a weird feeling, your initial thought was a bit of fear and panic when you saw the whole coven but then it quickly turned to “Mate!?”
You looked at each member trying to identify who it was until you saw him
Oh gosh, of course it had to be one of the infamous intimidating twins
He is breathtaking, and those eyes, they were your favorite color, burgundy
Just the thought makes you want to run your hands through his dark locks, wtf are these thoughts, well you did just find your mate so it's not your fault
As if he knew someone was looking at him, his gaze snapped to you
The eye contact was filled with tension and what you can tell as yearning
He quickly looked away and you also
When the whole drama was finished and Marcus confirmed the bond, you ended up going with the Volturi back to Italy
But this is the interesting part, he avoided you for a while
Like you tried to approach him but he would vanish, Jane would just give you the death glare, and frankly you do not want to feel her wrath
Marcus was the one who basically ‘locked’ you guys in a room and that is where hell broke loose
Harsh words were said, venom in eyes, but then he said “I do not mind you, I think I can get used to having you as a mate, but friends first “ which you agreed with
And soon a beautiful friendship was created
Took almost a year of building up his trust and Jane’s
He was the who showed affection first, he held your hand one time in a meeting with the kings
And then you guys had your first kiss on your first date in the gardens
Then the rest is history
Jane:
She’s a tough cookie
She meet you when you were brought in by Felix and Demetri to the Kings
You were brought in for the reason of your ability, you were able use an invisible hand that can hold your victim in place, you could even crush them if you wanted to (You could imagine the excitement in Aro’s eyes when he heard about your ability)
A bit like the Alec’s encounter, you two made eye contact and the intensity was so strong
But even if Marcus confirmed your mate bond, she wanted no sort of relationship with you, heck the looks she would give you left you scared for your life
Obviously you do not fear her, but what she can do left you always on high alert
You gave her space, not wanting to force this bond, and not wanting to anger her either
She didn't speak a word to you for 5 months, when she did it was simply “I was reading that book” (it was about flowers)
You responded with a simple “oh i'm sorry my little death flower”
The look she gave you was unexpected, her eyes widened slightly and her mouth opened slightly basically this was her reaction: 👁️👄👁️
Same with Alec, it took a year from that day for her to be with you
You were the one to make a move, when you were both reading her hand was in reach and you held it, her head snap to you but you focused on the book, you only squeezed her hand but she did not pull away or anything on the contrary she scooted slightly closer to you
There was another time she laid her head on your shoulder suddenly but you didn't say anything
Until when you asked her out to a date and well that was the best decision you ever made
You took her out on ‘picnic date’, which only involved blood with wine
The sun was already setting and you both turned to each other and leaned in and shared a kiss, the bond from there only got stronger since then

“Yes!!! I win! Read 'em and weep!” you throw down your assist cards allowing you to drop two number cards, claiming the last two cups and getting ten more points than the man in front of you. You NEVER win when you play kitty cards so this victory will go down in the history books. Sylus just rolls his eyes at your victory dance, partially annoyed the other half finding the way you bask in your victory adorable.
“How does it feel to lose, ya big loser?” you sit back in your seat arms crossed with the smuggest look on your face.
“It's a rare occasion, it won't happen again” he shrugs, reaches over, and flicks your forehead, enjoying the pout he gets in return. Now it's your turn to roll your eyes.
“Sounds like the talk of a sore loser. Now a deals a deal.” you huff triumphantly. Before you started this round after back-to-back losses, to raise your spirits, HE suggested that if you won this one you could make a request of any kind and he would fulfill it. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on what you requested from him…) it worked a little too well, and you played harder than you ever have, earning your victory, and now it's time for your reward.
“Oh, I haven't forgotten, Sweetie. If anything I've been dreading what's swirling around in that head of yours.” all you do is smile and jab a finger into his chest, reminding him that he “promised”.

The two of you are back in the N109 zone at his place, freshly showered and in pajamas.
“Remember Sy…you promised. Say it again” you say extremely skeptical that he will play along in your little game. He only ever lets you go so far when you take the lead. Always a cheater.
“Yes, yes. You have my word, Kitten” he meant it this time. He’ll let you use him, and besides, Sylus would be wrong if he wasn't intrigued by what you have in mind based on how confident you are at the moment. You look into his eyes skeptically one more time before deciding he’s genuine. And now it's time for you to have fun. Sylus sees the change in your demeanor. “Oh, the cat’s ready to play no-” he gets cut off with the way you tug on his collar, bringing him down to be eye level with you. You stare deep into his crimson eyes, already lidded with lust. You feel it as well, the idea of having him underneath you completely at your disposal. You want payback for all the nights of teasing and edging you've been victim to, now it's his turn. “Well, what are yo-” For the second time he's been cut off by you, but this time by your mouth on his. The kiss very quickly turns into a clash of tongue and teeth. You feel sylus already fighting for dominance with the way his tongue forces its way into your mouth, licking at your teeth and inner cheek. Sylus’s hands come up to bring you closer, but that's not part of your plan, no. Pulling away you glare up at him and he lets go understanding he already broke the promise already. You walk over to the bed and point at it, signaling him to lie down. Once he does you crawl to sit beside him, carefully cuffing his wrists to the iron bars of his bedframe, he could get out easily if he wanted to, but he enjoyed the look you had. And he promised, it's definitely not because he's internally shaking with anticipation. It's definitely not because he craved for you to take the lead and control him, of course not…
“Mmm there, you look good like that, baby” you sigh into his ear, nibbling slightly on his lobe pulling it gently as you pull away. Straddling his waist you run your hands down the exposed skin of his chest. He lets out a soft sigh at the way your fingers leave blazing trails down his skin.
“Oh confident are we, sweetie?” he gives that signature smirk of his earning an eye roll from you. Ignoring all his snarky remarks you slide your fingertips up, ghosting against his skin and gently rub against his already hard nipples. Sylus grunted, his chest was always so sensitive. He sighs as you roll and pinch both of them between your fingers.
“And where did yours go, sweetie?” you chime back. He huffs out a laugh, head thrown back as the stimulation on his hardened buds and the way your voice is deep and sultry makes his cock twitch underneath his robe. Sylus loves to play tough, but once he really lets go he easily submits to you, yes it’s rare, but not impossible. You lean down and take his mouth into yours again. He lets out a deep groan as you tweak and pull on his nipples, making you break away and smirk down at him. You felt lightheaded with the way he looked, a light blush spread across his face and down to his chest, lips already swollen, brows knitted together. After being satisfied with his chest you trail your hands down his abs, making his robe fall open completely. Sylus’s breath hitches as the cold air hits his already leaky cock. Your fingers trace the tip of his bulbous head, running your fingers across his slit before pulling away. He groans in protest glaring down at you.
“You didn't think I’d waste this opportunity and give you want you want so easily, did you?” you give him the same smug look he gives you.
“Call it wistful thinking” he grunts, bucking his hips subconsciously into your hand, earning a tsk
from you.
“Let me have my fun, Sy” You leave his angry cock drippy and needy, returning to your original spot seated on his abdomen. “Fuck you look so good, sy” The way you drag out and purr your words makes a chill run down his spine. He watches with hooded eyes as you drag one of your hands up your thighs and disappear into your panties. “Mmm ~” your moans and hums go straight to his dick, a wet spot grows on the small of your back from where his cockhead sits, raised with arousal. Sylus watches as your fingers draw slow circles around your clit. He wishes you would take those damned panties off but he knew how much of a tease you were.
“Little minx..”
“Play nice or I won't give you anything, Sy” you huffed out as you sped up your fingers. Leaning back you slipped in two fingers trying to emulate the stretch of his. Sylus isn't one to beg, he gets what he wants whenever he wants it, but he wants you to make him. He wants to be at your mercy. The way that you pleasure yourself right on top of him is driving sylus mad. You moan his name and he lets one out in response as he sees the dampness grow on the gusset of your underwear, he moans again to the squelch of your pussy as your finger yourself. He's seen your cunt so many times he could visualize it, but it's not enough.
“Ah..fuck..” his brows knit even more when his cock brushes against the silk material of your tank, hips chasing the small amount of friction. You tsk at him again, reminding him to sit still.
“If you want something Sylus all you gotta do is ask, baby” you coo leaning down to kiss the tip of his nose. He looks at you for a long while, clearly fighting the snarky comment bubbling up, but when he glances down to see you play with yourself behind your panties he gives in.
“Let me see you, Sweetie” You ignore him waiting for the magic word you've craved to hear from him in this type of situation.
“Come on kitten..” again he’s ignored.
“...please, please let me see you. I wanna see that pretty pussy” his voice was laced with desperation, desperation only you would be able to detect
“See and was that so hard?” giggles slip from your lips as you sit up to pull off what's been shielding you away from Sylus’s hungry eyes and when he finally gets to see your glistening folds he sighs, licking his lips. When you sit back on his lower stomach he feels your slick drip down onto his abs and it makes him ache even more. “Fuck, You know what I've always wanted to do?” you don’t keep him guessing for very long because before he could even question what you drag your pussy up his abs and back down. “You work out so much. I've always w-wanted to just drag myself across your- mm.” he huffs out a laugh at your confession
“Should have done it sooner. You look so pretty dragging your cunt on me like a needy little whore” his brattiness came back, but not for long because the words died on his tongue when you lean back and squeeze the head of his cock. “Augh- fuck!” he strains against the cuffs. The circle of your palm over his head drives him mad. The way you edge him is pushing him closer and closer to insanity, the pain and throb of his angry cock grows by the minute. You stifle more giggles as you watch sylus throw his head back and stiffen all over.
“You aren't playing nice, sy” A faux pout adorns on your lips. Pulling your hand away from him you begin to rock yourself on his abdomen again. The way your clit catches so deliciously on the dips and ridges of his abs. Warmth spreads through your entire body as you bring yourself closer and closer to the edge and the way you feel Sylus’s eyes on you makes it all the more better. Sylus on the other hand was not feeling the same bliss you were. He burned with the need to feel you, with the need to fuck you, touch you, taste you. He craved to feel the way you stretched and clenched and creamed on his cock. Sylus knew what he had to do – he did, but the chase was thrilling. He wanted you to break him. The rock of your hips speeds up as he flexes underneath you. Bringing a hand up you pinch and pull at your nipples the same way he does, moaning his name as you finish off on him. You lean back and smile down at him. Sylus watches as your cum leaks out your twitching pussy, tongue darting across his lips again.
“Wanna taste?” he nods his head. “Use your words like a good boy” Ah there it is, his core aches even more at the familiar name
“Please. Mmph-” his eyes roll to the back of his head at the taste of you when you shove your fingers in his mouth. He savors the taste of you as his tongue swirls around your digits, sucking and slurping on them, taking everything you give him.
“I think I wanna taste you now, sy” To be honest you wanted to take him into your mouth the second his robe slipped off, but you needed him to suffer a little first. He sighs around your fingers at the thought of finally getting touched by you the way he needed. With batted breath, he watched as you slid down, dragging his cock through your folds before you straddle his legs. A moan escaped his lips as he felt the warmth and wetness of your pussy, but it went as soon as it came. “Fuck you’re so hard sy. Looks painful I’m soooo sorry baby” Again you fake a pout as you take him into your hands and press your cheek against the length of him. Just the softness and warmth of your skin was enough to pull more globs of pre from his tip.
“So pretty like that, sweetie. I've played nice yeah? Played along with your game long enough” his desperation grows by the minute, but you're having too much fun. As if deep in thought you tap his cock against your cheek brows knitted as you contemplated. His breath hitches at the sight, you've always known how to make the big boss of Onychinus lose his cool.
“Well, I suppose you deserve some sort of reward…” you pretended to think long and hard, and after what felt like an eternity you finally licked a long fat stripe from his balls all the way to the tip, swirling your tongue on the slit. His musk filled all your senses. The weight of him finally in your mouth mixed with the taste of him made your pussy ache even after just cumming on him minutes prior. Sylus wishes he could tangle his fingers in your hair but he knows he needs to stay put, so instead he just watches as you take more and more of his cock, bobbing down down down till the white patch of hair tickles your nose.
“Sh-shit. You always take my cock so well, Sweetie. So gorgeous when you take me.” he starts to babble more once you massage his fat balls in your hands. They ache to release for you. You push him as far as you could down your throat, the way you constrict around him is sending him towards the edge, all he needs is one final push, but again, why waste such an opportunity such as this? The twitch of his cock lets you know he’s so deliciously close to cumming, signaling it's time for you to pull away. A hiss leaves his lips once the cool air of the room hits his spit-covered shaft. A glare is thrown your way but all you do is smile coyly back, bringing your hand down to pump at his length. Ignoring his curses you lean back down and do it again, bringing him so close just to rip his orgasm away right when he could taste it.
“Fuck, kitten. There is only so much I can take”
“You know what I want. Beg” You lean back over him, nose brushing against his looking deeply into those crimson eyes. The stare-down lasts for a couple of seconds but his face softens into a desperate one with your next words. “Come on baby, don't you wanna be a good boy f’me? Just beg a little. Humor me sylus, then I’ll uncuff you. It's okay to let go hmm? Till then I won't do anything” and if you weren't paying attention, you would have missed the softest of whimpers escaping his lips. Between the aura you projected and the grind of your bare crotch against his, the last strand of sanity snapped.
“Please, love. I'll be good yeah? I've been good. Let me feel you let me cum-” For the nth time tonight he’s been cut off by you crawling back down and taking him into your mouth once more, doing everything you could to bring him to the edge and push him off. With how long he's been edged by you this orgasm shoots throughout his entire body, pulling at the cuffs and muscles flexing and unflexing as the knot finally snaps, but that doesn't stop you. You continue to slurp him down and push him to his next climax. Moans and grunts leave him as he bucks wildly chasing his next release. This time you don't stop the movement of his hips, letting him thrust wildly into your throat until he cums again. After coming down from his second high he watches you lick his release that leaked from the corners of your mouth. “Fuck… (y/n)” his body tremors slightly as you kiss up his body till you capture his lips in a passionate kiss. Not the same heated blur of passion as before, but one where Sylus’s vulnerability shows more than it ever has, so you take the utmost care to handle him gently.
“I'm gonna put it in now Sy” Grabbing his length and dragging him through your folds moans leave the both of you once you finally line him up with your entrance and slide down his cock, slowly taking him inch by inch. No matter how many times the two of you had sex the stretch still took you by surprise. You felt every vein as you slid him in till it felt like he pressed against your cervix. “Sofull.” slurring already drunk on the feeling of his cock as you bring your hips back up and slam them back down. The room was filled with the sound of skin slapping and both of your moans blurring together. Your orgasm already started to creep up on you with the way sylus moaned into your ear, more vocal than he's ever been, and the clench of your pussy let sylus know you were close.
“Cum f’me, please? Let me feel that pretty pussy cream on my cock, sweetie. I wanna-wanna” Now sylus wasn't one to stutter, but you have him feeling more sensitive than usual. The warmth and wetness of your cunt brought him just as close to his climax.
“Fuck me sy. Need you to, need you to ah-” The man in question wasted no time. He planted his feet and fucked up into you speeding up the way you bounced on him. Within a couple of thrusts, the two of you came at the same time, but just like how you didn't stop sucking him off after he came earlier, he didn't wanna stop either, fucking you both into overstimulation. “Shit sy w-wait I- waaiit” he ignored you, not letting up oh his bruising pace
“Feel so good, always take me so wellll, sweetie. One more yeah? Can you give me one more, please” he babbles on and on about cumming one more time, needing to feel you squeeze around him and needing to fill you up one more time. You find it in you to slam your hips down on his and you cum on him for the third time tonight pulling him over the edge with you. A mixture of your release leaked out of you and down his balls. A comfortable silence replaces the sinful noises from before are you bask in each other's warmth. You break the silence first
“See it wasn’t so bad. You should let me tie you up without having to win a bet” you giggle as you snuggle into his chest. Your eyes snap open at the sound of a *click* and in a flash of black and red you switch places with sylus. “Hey wait!”
“I suppose, but I much rather have it like this no? Time for my payback, kitten”

Arranged Marriage - Part Two
(felt like the gif was really fitting for the ending scene of this) - Pairing: Loki x Reader Notes: Here it is! The significantly better, longer, second part of my arranged marriage story :) this one capped at 4k+ words and it's lowk one of my best works to date imo <3
=
Never in your life did you ever think you’d be excited at the prospect of marriage, especially one you never chose to have in the first place.
But now, here you were, waiting in the gardens for your betrothed, the second son of the king of Asgard, Loki Odinson.
In the couple of weeks you had known Loki, you felt yourself growing more and more attached to his person. There was always this lightness in your body whenever the two of you were together, like he was lifting your heart, even with just his smile.
Everything about him was amazing. His kindness, the way he carried himself, the occasional mischievous glint in his eye whenever he’d get ready to do something silly and send you both into laughing fits afterwards. Just his overall company made you happy.
You couldn’t help but notice a tight feeling in your chest whenever you were with him, like a feeling being caged inside, yet trying to make its way into the light. It reminded you of the stories your mother used to tell you about her and your father before he passed, how it was a sign that she was in love with him.
But it was too early to be in love with Loki, wasn’t it?
“There you are.”
You pushed the thought aside as you heard that familiar voice, turning around to see the same man you were just pondering over.
“I was wondering if you’d ever show up,” you said with a teasing smile. “Apologies, darling,” he said with a small laugh. “I lost track of time in the library.”
“I thought you said you’ve read every book in there?”
“Oh, I have! But you haven’t.” After he says those words, you watch as he pulls out a couple different books from behind his back and presents them to him. “I…figured maybe I could read my favorites to you.”
You tilted your head to the side, your lips curling upwards even further as you felt your heart fluttering.
“Really? That sounds fun.”
Loki seemed to share the same excited manner as you did, eagerly taking the seat beside you on the bench when you patted it.
He let you pick the first choice, to which you chose one with a dull blue cover, the two of you sitting together peacefully as the sun gleamed down on your bodies.
Loki’s voice was gentle yet accentuated as he read to you, and you conclude in your head that you could fall asleep every night just by listening to the soothing sound of his voice.
Norns, you really were bad for this man, weren’t you?
Unfortunately, your peaceful little bubble was broken when a guard came rushing forward, bowing his head as he approached your view.
“My lady, I’m very sorry, but your mother has urgently requested your presence.”
You sighed inwardly at the news, feeling your muscles tense in preparation for the encounter you knew was coming. If she was urgently searching for you, it couldn’t have been anything good.
“Of course,” you sighed, standing up from the bench and giving Loki an apologetic look. “Will you wait for me?” “Or, better yet, I could accompany you.”
You let out a sigh of relief, grabbing his hand. “Oh, you’re a lifesaver, let’s go.”
=
“Mother?” you called, pushing open the large golden doors. “You’re looking for me?”
“(Y/n), there you are,” she said. “I know this is very last minute, but we must travel back home, we have some things to discuss with the royal advisory before we finish planning your wedding.”
The words made your shoulders slump in disappointment. “But do I have to go? You handle all of the advisory meetings by yourself, anyways.”
“Yes, but dear, those things were never about your wedding,” she stresses, giving you a look that told you there is no way to get out of this. “The sooner we leave, the sooner we come back, yes?”
You give her a reluctant nod. “Right.” You then turn to look at Loki. “I'm sorry…for cutting our day together short.”
“There's no need to worry,” he said with an understanding smile, taking one of your hands in his. “Here.”
His free hand lifted up slightly, and a green light began to emit from his palm until it materialized the book he was reading to you earlier.
“You can write to me while you're away. Tell me what you think when you've finished.”
You felt your face getting warmer, but you hoped at least it wasn't showing.
“I will,” you told him, nodding your head in confirmation. The two of you just stood like that in silence for a while, like both of you wanted to do something, but at the same time, wanted to see if the other would jump at it instead. The staring went on for so long that your mother had to clear her throat to break up the eye contact.
“Right,” you murmured, blinking and looking away. “I'll see you again soon?”
“Very soon, darling,” he promised.
And so you traveled back home with your mother, anticipating the moment you would see your betrothed again.
Being in your home realm took longer than you thought.
You never realized how much planning actually goes into a wedding, not to mention that because both families involved in the marriage party are of importance, and for the future alliance of kingdoms, for some reason, everything had to be incredibly extravagant.
By the end of every night, you were wiped out. Even so, you made an effort to read at least half of a chapter of Loki’s book every single night, and write notes about different parts of it to share with him in a letter.
The letter writing exchange helps you feel closer to Loki without actually being close. Although it takes time for the both of you to receive, read, write, and send back another letter in reply, it was nice to still get to talk to him despite the distance.
You talked about nearly everything occurring in your life and realm. Like how a noble had invented something called “Pigeon Gossip” where one person writes in a scroll about the latest drama, mass produces it, and sends it on dozens of pigeons for all to know. That was his favorite one, and you promised him that you’d try to get Pigeon Gossip more known in Asgard.
Eventually, though, as the writing progressed, you'd found out through one of his letters that Loki had been struggling mentally. You worried, of course, and would always try to send him a positive message back, especially since you couldn't be there to help. He never mentioned what exactly it was that he was struggling with, and you never tried to push for answers, just tried to help him through it.
And then he was better, which you were thrilled to hear. The letters continued on as normal, and the two of you continued your usual conversations.
But then they stopped.
When your letter went unanswered for more than a week it gave you concerns, and when it went on to a month you decided to write again.
And again.
And again.
You couldn't figure out an answer as to why the letters stopped so abruptly. And, to add to your 'luck,’ you still weren't able to leave your home realm to investigate. Even still, you wanted to know that he was okay.
So you wrote one last letter.
And to your delight, it was answered, but it was short lived.
Reading over the words, your mind went blank and you could feel your heart shatter. Tears came to your eyes as you reread it twice.
Three times.
Four.
And every time, it was the same writing.
The letter came, not from Loki, but from his parents, the king and queen of Asgard, to inform you that Loki had passed weeks ago. They expressed their sadness and condolences to you, and unsurprisingly, a tear or two fell onto the paper as your eyes skimmed over the words for a final time.
As you felt the burn of repressed sobs in your throat, you finally let it go. Hot tears came streaming down your face as realization fully hit you, and you moved the parchment away from you to keep it out of the line of fire - or rather, water.
Too wrapped up in the sudden news, you failed to hear your mother enter your room until her voice was more audible.
“(Y/n), we've been looking for you, we need to discuss-”
She cuts her statement short when she notices your tear stained face, and the way your eyes are blank, as if you're trying to inwardly suppress something, but the evidence is still clear as day.
Her tone of voice is gentle as she walks towards you, kneeling down beside you.
“Sweetheart, what's wrong?” she asks.
For the first time since she's been inside the room, you finally look her in the eyes.
Your voice was strained as you spoke and more tears escaped your eyes. Clearing your throat, which did next to nothing, you choked out, “He’s gone.”
There was a long air of silence between the two of you, like she was looking for the words to say. Eventually, she just puts a gentle hand on your back and sighs, “I’m sorry, sweetie.”
You let out more shaky breaths then furrowed your brows at her, “You…You already knew, didn’t you?”
Her silence answered for her.
You got up angrily, sliding the wooden chair across the floor with a harsh noise, “I cannot believe you right now.”
“Y/N I can explain-”
“NO. YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME THIS WEEKS AGO. BUT YOU DIDN’T.”
She walked up to you cautiously with her hands raised in front of her, “I didn’t know you just now got the news, Y/N, I promise you. I hadn’t said anything about it because I wanted to give you time to grieve.”
Scoffing, you turned back to her, “You thought I was sending letters to a ghost as a coping mechanism or something? Who thinks that?”
“Listen, some people find different ways to grieve over someone they cared about,” she reasons. “I just…you seemed like everything was normal, I thought maybe you were just trying to forget about it or something. It should've been obvious that you didn't know, and I'm sorry, but… there's not much else for me to say.”
There was too much overwhelming information going on for you to fully process at one time, so your mother, after another soft spoken apology, left you with your thoughts and feelings.
Unfortunately, it didn't last long.
With about maybe 3 days to cope, your mother came with some news that you were less than happy to hear.
As your door creaked open you pushed down your quilt to see who came in, rolling your eyes at who you saw. “Have you come with more news that’s a month late? You’re slower than most Pigeon Gossip.”
As she stayed silent, you sat up, your hair an unruly mess but you couldn’t care less, “What is it now?”
She cleared her throat and slowly looked at you, “I’m afraid that, even though Loki is gone, the treaty between our realm and Asgard must go on.”
Your eyes widened as you realized what she meant and you rapidly shook your head negatively. “No, no. You are not having me marry Thor!”
“There is no other way, young lady! You will marry the prince of Asgard and that is that!” She yelled, stomping out of your room and closing the door with a loud slam.
You felt like your life was slowly falling apart as the hours went by.
You thought nothing bad of Thor, truly, he was as kind as they come, but he wasn't the one you wanted to marry. And although you tried explaining that to your mother at a later time, she ignored your pleas for the simple excuse that your realm needed this alliance, and that it was your duty to see it through.
It felt like when you first found out the news of an arranged marriage all over again.
Even worse, when the two of you returned to Asgard, you and the eldest son of Odin– per your mother's request– found yourselves on a date to “get better acquainted with one another.”
You were less than thrilled.
The afternoon spent together was filled with awkward silence and weird glances, and when one of you decided to occasionally bite the bullet and ask a question, it was short worded replies before the silence continued.
Eventually, though, Thor brought up the cause of the barrier of silence in the first place.
“...I wanted to express my condolences on behalf of my brother,” he said. “I could tell you care for him, despite the circumstances and the…short amount of time you spent together.”
You didn't verbally reply, instead offering him a faint nod of appreciation. The whole situation hurt, but even still, there was one question lingering in the back of your mind.
“...How did he die?”
Thor's gaze casts downwards at the memories of the events leading up to the death of his late brother.
“There were a few secrets…family issues that caused a rift between our family,” he began to explain. “Loki took it hard. He struggled with the discoveries. And then our home was invaded by frost giants. We tried to fight them off, but Loki wasn't entirely focused, and…”
He didn't want to say the rest, knowing it was self explanatory regardless. You didn't have a good reply to offer, so you just remained silent, allowing that information to sink in.
It's only more uncomfortable after that.
Conversations form between the two of you every now and then, but it's nothing more than the basic, bland topics. Even so, only two or three sentences between each of you pass before that thick silence takes its place again.
You didn't want to seem rude, but you weren't up for this. You were still emotionally coping, not to mention the overwhelming prospect of being forced to marry the brother of your late betrothed.
Eventually, the two of you stop to sit in the middle of the flower field, just taking in the atmosphere. It relaxes you a little, seeing as your shoulders are no longer as tight and drawn in.
After a while of quiet, Thor pipes up.
“My lady, I think you and I can both agree that this arrangement is rather…”
“Disappointing? Absurd? Soon?” You listed off multiple possibilities to complete his sentence.
“Something along those lines, yes,” he chuckles a little, which lightens the mood. “I declined, out of respect for both you and my brother, but… our kingdoms must unite.”
“So you mean there's nothing we can do?” You didn’t even need him to answer that, not with the way his face effortlessly did so on its own.
Shoulders slumping, defeat slowly washes over you in agonizing waves. You felt just like you had when this arrangement was first conceived — once again unwilling, and yet, without choice.
Despite knowing the odds were not in your favor, you fought hard, in any way you could. You attempted to convince them to delay the wedding for a while longer, but the All-Father and his queen could tell there was more to your continuous requests, and that, below the surface, you truly had no desire to be wed to their eldest son.
In light of this, Odin summons both you and your mother to the throne room one afternoon. The date of this marriage was inching closer with every passing moment, which meant that the outcome of this meeting would determine your permanent fate.
When you heard the king tell you that you had the power to call off the wedding if you so desired (considering the circumstances), you were absolutely thrilled.
But, as it turns out, you were the only one who was.
Your mother was downright hysterical at the idea of ending the whole arrangement when the date was so close in timing. Before you could even get the words out of your mouth to reply, she cuts in and does it for you.
“No! The arrangement shall go on, like it was meant to. She’ll do it.”
Face falling at her declaration, your feet are quick to assume their place beside her.
“What? But, Mother, no…-”
“She’ll do it,” her voice is firm, like she’s establishing that you have no say in the matter, leaving you powerless to her once more. “Because she knows how important this is. How beneficial this will be for all of us once the wedding is seen through.”
As if to add salt to the wound, she turns her head, expectant gaze boring holes into you.
“Isn’t that right, dear?”
Eyes trained on the floorboards below, you sigh, biting your tongue to avoid saying anything more that wasn’t what she wanted to hear.
“...I’ll do it.”
The royals seated on their thrones take a look at both you and your mother, as if they’re hesitant to make a decision, but soon enough, the All-Father speaks.
“Very well. The arrangement will be seen through, and the wedding will go on.”
And there it was. Your one chance.
Now it’s gone.
=
The day of the wedding soon arrived, faster than you would’ve liked.
You had the commotion of the guests of both your home and of Asgard, the chatter amongst each other surrounding the occasion they were attending.
You sat in one of the rooms close to the ballroom, being fussed over by the female servants as they went around, fixing your dress, adding flowers to your hair, and overall ensuring you looked your best for what was to be the most important day of your life.
Maybe it would’ve had more meaning if Loki was still here.
After what felt like forever, the ladies were finally done, and your mother entered the room, stopping to look at you.
“Look at you!” she says, her voice overly cheery, which you hate to admit sent a hint of irritation through you. “You look absolutely gorgeous, sweetheart.”
“Thank you, Mother,” you replied politely, offering her a tight lipped smile. She comes to stand beside you, looking through the tall mirror you stood in front of.
“I know this isn’t very…conventional for you, my dear. But…don’t disappoint me.”
As if there wasn’t enough pressure on you now as it is. It wasn’t about just disappointing her, either. You knew that if you did anything now to cancel this marriage, you’d be looked down on by both your mother and the people of your kingdom. Perhaps even the people of Asgard.
“Of course not.” The words tasted bitter in your mouth, even more so as you gave yourself a critical glance in the mirror.
Satisfied with your answer, your mother guides the servants out the door with her, giving you a few moments to yourself before the ceremony begins.
Looking out the large window, you felt that ache in your chest again. It was just like the one you felt before you left Asgard, left Loki.
But this time, there was something more to it. Something like…longing?
You longed for him to return to you. You wished it to every bright star in the night sky as you counted down the days before this had to happen.
And still, your desires were unmet, leaving you with a hole in your heart.
That’s when you knew you loved Loki. And your only regret about it was that you couldn’t come to terms with that feeling until after he died.
A knock on the door pulls you from your storm of thoughts, and you quickly wipe away the tears that strayed down your cheeks before calling the person it.
It was one of the other servants, alerting you that it was finally time. You followed her out of the room and into the hall, where you had to stand until your name was announced.
Once you actually started coming down the aisle, it felt like you were being held together by a thin cord. Your legs wobbled with every step, although going unnoticed to the guests thanks to the lower layers of your dress.
But this place, this room in particular, it reminded you of meeting Loki, dancing with him on the night of your betrothal, the soft smiles and lingering looks the two of you shared—everything was overwhelming your senses all at once, leaving your stomach feeling queasy.
Finally meeting Thor and standing beside him, you both offered each other smiles; yours was forced, while his was meant to offer you some form of comfort.
Your head was barely there as you listened to the All-Father’s speech, eyes darting around subtly, glancing at all the people behind you who were watching intently.
And…maybe your mind was playing tricks on you, but you were almost certain you saw a shimmer of green just outside the window.
Heart skipping a beat, you let your eyes linger on the view outside for a moment longer, but the longer you watched, the more you told yourself to snap out of it, that nothing was ever there in the first place.
You force yourself to focus in just in time, because now the king is addressing you.
“And do you, Lady (Y/n), take Thor Odinson of Asgard, to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
You freeze up, mouth open as if to say something, but the words seem to fail to materialize in your brain so that they can come out.
“Um, I…”
Just as you get ready to force out your answer, the large golden doors to the ballroom open up with a heavy thud, along with a pair of footsteps rushing to meet the altar.
“Wait!!”
Your stomach both flips and drops at the familiar voice, and as he gets closer, you see his face for what felt like the first time in forever.
He’s alive. Loki is alive.
“Loki…?” You have to say his name out loud, to hear him respond, to make sure this isn’t all some cruel trick you’ve conceived for yourself to get through this dreadful event. Emerald green eyes meet yours, filled with both relief and happiness as he starts to smile.
The guests gasp and murmur amongst themselves, but all either of you can focus on is each other. Loki continues hurrying over to get to you, and you grab the large skirts of your dress to meet him halfway, colliding with him in a rushed embrace.
He picks you up, arms tight around your waist as he spins you in a circle.
You say his name again, your voice trembling as it comes out in a mixture of a laugh and a sob, your tear-glazed gaze looking over him while your hands hold his face in a delicate manner. His hands release your waist, setting you back down on your feet, letting his touch trail up to your upper arms.
“You’re… you’re alive,” comes your quiet observation, watery smile forming on your lips.
“I’m alive,” he responds, ducking down to rest his forehead against yours. “I’m here, darling.”
“But how? They said-… You’re supposed to be-”
However, he’s a lot more interested in you than in answering your blossoming inquiries, which you soon realize when he gently cradles the back of your head, pulling you ever closer until he’s within range to kiss you, his soft lips aligning perfectly with yours.
Every circuit in your body completely shorts out for a second, as you finally experienced what you’ve only dreamed of for the longest time. You start coming to, melting into the sensation of your lips brushing together, before you pull apart, and inevitably return for more, unable to untangle yourselves from the other.
It takes the approach of footsteps behind you for the both of you to separate, turning around to face your lover’s family, who look just as surprised as you feel.
“…Loki?” His brother is the first to say something. “How is this possible? I…I watched you die. You fell off into space.”
The raven-haired man gives the blond a small smile, reaching a hand on to grip his brother’s shoulder, giving it a squeeze.
“Come on,” he drawls. “What did you expect?”
You watch as Thor’s bewildered face shifts into one of amusement, letting out a hearty chuckle as he pats Loki on the back before they too embrace each other.
Queen Frigga approaches her youngest son, taking his hands into her own and smiling warmly.
“Welcome back,” she says.
“Thank you, Mother.”
“Well, then,” Thor begins, turning to you. “Sister, would you give me the honor of handing you off to my brother in marriage?”
You blink a couple times, surprised by the sudden change of subject. “Wait, what? Now?”
“Yes! There’s no better time than now!”
“He’s right, my dear,” his mother agrees, nodding her head. “The ceremony has already started. So then, if you’re still willing to marry our son…”
Locking eyes with Loki again, he carries the same expression that you do. But soon, that look fades, forming into something much softer, a sparkle coming to life. It makes you smile, feeling like you’re on the same page with one another.
You’d love nothing more than to marry him right now.

The Student and the Teacher - Newt Scamander
TW: female!reader
Y/N, a young New York witch who has always been passionate about magical creatures, heard about a magical zoologist who lives in London. So she went looking for him in the hope that he would teach her his trade.
She walks the streets on the lookout for the slightest clue that could help her find this famous Newt Scamander. When suddenly, while passing in front of an antique jewelry store, she saw something moving inside. She stopped her steps and returned to the window and was not surprised to see a Niffler filling the pocket of her belly with necklaces, earrings and other sparkling objects. Without being able to hold it back, the young girl burst into crystal-clear laughter and drew her magic wand to try to recover the little thief creature.
But before she could do anything a young man with curly hair arrived followed by another man with a mustache. He broke the window with an unspoken spell and rushed into the window to try to recover the Niffler. Unfortunately, the beast jumped out of the store, slithering across the road. Y/N then rushed towards the poor creature who was unable to escape from her. The young man got out of the trashed window and shook his wand to put everything back in order. With a disappointed look, the wizard collected his suitcase and began to walk away. But before he could left with his friend the young girl ran to him, handing him her Niffler. The man's gaze moved from the girl to the creature and so on.
- I managed to catch your Nifleur before he escaped Sir, she said, smiling.
The young brunette then gave him a frank smile and took the creature in his arms before putting it back in his suitcase.
- Thank you so much...
She told him his name and shook his hand honestly.
- You are Newt Scamander, aren't you?
- Um yes yes, it's me. He smiled shyly
- I was just looking for you, Mister Scamander... He cut him off.
- Please call me Newt.
- Of course! Well, Newt, I was looking for you.
- Looking for me? He frowned.
- Yes ! I was told you were the only one magiczoologist that exists. And being passionate about magical creatures I I was wondering if you could teach me your trade... maybe?
She finished her sentence in a whisper, not sure of his reaction. Norbert raised his eyebrows, surprised. Then he gave a small smile.
- Well, you can to come to my reserve and I'll see what you're capable of... Other than catching Nifflers I mean, which is very useful you can believe me.
She laughed softly and followed him, happier than ever. They apparated together and arrived at Newt's house, in his reserve. The young girl was finally able to put into practice everything she had studied for so long. And it must be admitted that Norber was rather enthusiastic at the idea of having him as an apprentice.
- Where did you learn all that? He asked curiously.
- Well, thanks to your book Newt. She replied, laughing.
He turned red and laughed heartily with her. The evening continued like this. And after two hours of visit and treatment they went back upstairs. There, Newt returned to Y/N and him while holding out his hand.
- Y/N, you are officially my apprentice. He smiled. She returned his handshake almost jumping because she was so happy.
- Oh thank you Newt, you won't regret it not, I promise you!
- Oh but I'm sure of it. He smiles crookedly looking at her with piercing eyes without realizing it.
The young girl could not keep from turning scarlet. After that they all went to eat and Y/N was able to meet Newt's friend, Jacob Kowalski. A very nice boy who's very in love with a certain Queeny Goldstein. He told you she was the sister of Tina Goldstein, the girl with whom Norbert would be in love said Jacob
- No Jacob, I already told you, Tina and I it's over. He said shaking his head.
- Oh, did you argue? Asked carefully Y/N.
-Ah no, not at all. We left by mutual agreement. We were better friends after all. And that's what we are now. He gave his friend a pointed look which made the young girl laugh.
The end of the meal was in a good mood. Jacob leaves right after and the two found themselves alone. They were chatting on the sofa in a quiet atmosphere
- By the way Y/N what were you doing back in America? he asked, facing the young girl, her head resting on her hand and her elbow propped on the back of the sofa.
- Well I was studying. I just finished a few weeks ago. After that I came directly to pick you up. She replied, sitting cross-legged facing the brunette.
- Oh but then, how old are you? He said, getting up and going to get the kettle which was starting to whistle.
- I'm 22 years old.
They talked for another hour, while drinking tea before going to bed.
- Well, good night Newt. See you tomorrow !She said as she got ready to go through the door. entry.
- Wait, where are you going to sleep? he worried.
- Oh I think I would find one hostel or hotel for the night.
- It's already past midnight Y/N, you won't find anything tonight.
- But yes, don't worry. I'll manage. She smiles at him.
- And for tomorrow and the other days eh? No, out of question. I can't let a young girl wander the streets of London alone in the middle of the night. You can take the guest room! He said it all in one go and she smiled softly.
- All right. She said simply.
- Really ? Awesome ! So come, follow me.
He took her to a nice little room where she opened her suitcase and settled down to sleep. The next morning she got up first, being used to being woken up very early by her family. So she set about preparing breakfast to thank her host. She was making the omelette when the latter arrived in the small kitchen, shirtless.
Seeing the young girl, the frying pan in her hand, her mouth open and her red cheeks staring at him, he realized that he was not alone, jumped up and stammered apologies before going to put on a black tank top. He wore loose beige fabric pants and was barefoot.
Y/N, on the other hand, was wearing a large shirt and pajama pants too. Newt was scarlet red while the young girl couldn't help but laugh at the scene that had unfolded before her eyes a few minutes before.
- I'm sorry Y/N, I forgot that I was no longer alone. He admitted embarrassed.
- Oh no, it's nothing Newt. This isn't the first torso I've seen, you kn-
But she didn't finish her sentence when she realized what she was saying, she in turn turned purple. This time it was the magiczoologist who burst into hearty laughter.
- No, well what I mean is that I grew up with three brothers so I often saw them shirtless. Saw you? She said stuttering.
- I see yeah... He replied simply, a smile on his face as he scrutinized the young girl in front of him. It’s true that now that you mention it, you haven’t yet told me about your family.
- Oh there is nothing interesting to say really. To be honest, I've never had a very good relationship with them. She said as she served him the omelette.
- Thanks, that looks delicious! Exclaimed the wizard, throwing himself at the food. Is that why you came to London? To escape them?
- Run away from them no, just take a step back.. But beyond everything it was to find you Sir. She gave him an amused look as her cheeks took on a rosy tint.
- Well, I'm delighted to have served as an alibi for you to escape from the United States. He laughs.
- We can hardly make a better alibi must be said! She laughed in turn.
Once breakfast was finished, Newt took his assistant to his basement. They spent the day talking to each other, inadvertently touching their hands and so on.
The days passed and it was almost two months since Y/N worked alongside Scamander and obviously the contact between the two individuals became more familiar. They had become very accomplices. It was obvious that Norbert liked the young girl, he even felt more fascination for her than for Tina before. And conversely, Y/N was very attracted to the magiczoologist but convinced that he could never love her. And then she was too young for him and not beautiful enough.
Well, that's what she thought until the day when Newt - under Jacob's advice of course - decided to surprise him. The first night they met, after dinner once Jacob had left, she told him that she had always dreamed of having her own Niffler. But she never could because her parents hated animals and now she can't because she doesn't have enough money. However, it turns out that Newt's Nifflers have just had a litter of baby Nifleurs. So he said it would be nice to have one for her. And then he also planned to confess his feelings to her this evening. That evening Y/N was returning from a visit to Queeny - with whom she had become very friend - and had just put her coat on the rack when she felt a presence at her back. She turned around to face Newt with a big smile, her cheeks rosy.
- Y/N.
- Newt, what’s wrong? she asked puzzled by his intense gaze.
Without answering he slipped his arm around her waist and guided her to the sofa where she sat. The magical zoologist stood before her and him in front of a small wooden box with a hole in it. Inside, the girl saw something moving.
- It's for you. The wizard said softly to him. I hope you like it. He concluded with a cute little smile when she carefully took the box from his hands.
She opened the lid of the box and examined the contents. Suddenly her eyes lit up, she carefully placed the box on the coffee table and jumped on top of the man to give him a hug. The person in question returned her embrace by wrapping his arms around her and holding her close to him as if he no longer wanted her to leave. He breathed in the perfume that emanated from her hair, she smelled good of lavender. He loves lavender.
She broke away from him and kissed him on the plays while whispering a little: “thank you infinitely Norbert, I don't know how thank you". Then she turned around to look at the box when a hand clung to her wrist. He turned her towards him and with a quick step approached her, placed his hand on her cheek and placed her lips on his.
After few seconds of surprise she young girl responded to his kiss by slipping her hands into the sorcerer's hair. He then placed his other hand on her hips. The kiss lasted for several more seconds and the two lovers had to separate because of the lack of oxygen.
- Y/N I like you... I really do. He whispered to him gently.
- Oh if you knew how I waited moment. Obviously I love you Norbert.
And she kissed him again. And that's it, lrt's leave the two lovers the privacy they need. In any case, what is certain is that it was a shock for Jacob to show up at his friend's house and surprise him in bed with the young girl. But strangely, Queeny wasn't surprised at all...

Creepypasta x Fem!Proxy
I got a notification via E-Mail that someone left kudos on a fanfiction I forgot about on AO3.I deleted it and decided to rewrite it here. It's not my best work.
Their chatter and the crunching of leaves around the fresh murder in front of you didn't hold the resonating sound of the pen scribbling on your notebook to not fully grasp your attention.
Each word is perfectly put in its right place and with each glance at either the mutilated corpse not too far from you or on the policemen's observations you get closer to the calligraphic and professional sentence you always end every report. Thinking that's enough for today, you placed the notebook back in the backpack you firmly held on your shoulder, the right strap being loose to the mid of your back.
You fade away in their chatter, adding to the crunching of the leaves back in the direction you came from-the woods. You weren't in a particular hurry as today's 'true work' only beggings after two more hours when the manor will 'welcome' a new resident in. The Master dutied you to "welcome them in" as you do to every unfortunate newcomer.
Passing the same route you memorized as the back of your palm, you place your hand on a few oak trees as you pass them, some having so vaguely craved his symbol on them. The oak trees remind you of him as well, his tall and demanding figure only adding to his ghostly white, eerie presence. You were in no place to doubt his wishes, and neither were any of your colleagues-but out of his reach, if that's even possible, you can be curious about his ways of resolve.
The mere thought of a new resident sends shivers down your spine and a pounding headache. To have to deal with another mentally unstable rapist or murderer only adds to the stress of living in his manor.
The crunching on the leaves stops as you grab your bag one more time, ruffling a bit inside of it before pulling your mask out and adjusting it on your face. Not wasting any time you get the notebook out and enter the end point of your destination-an old-fashioned manor that was housing about 15 people. A single push of the enormous marble doors gets them opened, letting the remaining light of the day shine on the dark red material. Closing them back makes you think they're heavier, a deep thud resonating through the silence of the manor before it was accompanied by a pair of footsteps that faded as quickly as they came.
You decided to pay them no mind and to finish your task before the sun could set, ignoring the pair of glowing green eyes that thought they could stalk you from the darkest corner of the room.
"Home so early?" BEN asked with a grin on his face.
The manor has three main floors and many other pairs of stairs, each leading to different parts of the building, but now you were heading to the very last floor, on the very top of it where a room stood out in particular from the others. The last floor was made of a set of 10 inhabitable rooms, in the center of them being one room made out of various shades of red that gave an expensive yet eerie feeling around it. As soon as someone enters the last step and makes their way on the floor, low static begins as the walls start to become suffocating. Each window is shut and hasn't been opened since the day you came here. As you approach the habitated room, the 11th one, the static only grows, but you learned how to combat it, even if the air becomes thicker with each passing secound.
There you stood,in front of The Master of this manor, your rescuer and provider, even with closed doors you felt his gaze piercing your soul, shattering it apart. A different static sound could be heard-the signal that you were free to enter. The room looked as clean as ever, the window behind the tall figure holding no dust particle despite not anyone cleaning it,not even the books on either side of the room had any sign of age on them.
Taking your mask off you reglated your voice and started your statement."I've bought the very few details of Jeffrey's victims."
Silence. Placing the open notebook on the counter you waited for his response, but he didn't even looked at it. Even if his face held no expression, you could feel the tension that beared it.
He finally gave attention to the notebook in front of him for a bare second before returning his head to the clipboard in front of him. A few moments had passed, yet the only thing that was heard was your thumping heart inside your chest.
"Dissmised." you gently bowed your head before you took your notebook back and walked straight out of his office. The familliar creature in front of you turned into something darker as time progressed.
The silence of the manor was disturbed by the chatter of two masculine voices. "Piece of shit Rogers.." a faint click was heard accompanied by some heavy coughs. The man's comment was responded with a few shakes of a pill bottle.
"You still had some?" you could recognize this raspy voice in any nightmare,Masky's or Tim's bickering being present even in your sleep. Most residents prefer to not use their real name if they can avoid it,mostly to show the lack of empathy and to amplify the need to show that we're strangers to each other.
"I gotta look out for myself." his partner and friend that lead him to this manor 3 years ago stated. "We're murderers,Brian." Masky replied, half annoyed that his friend isn't understanding of his stress regarding his 'work'. You decided to ignore your partners, making yourself as small and as silent as possible to ride up the stairs to the silence of your room, appealing to your proxy skills, but to not much succes.
"Where you've been, bitch?" the white masked man barked. "Ditching work for a few notes isn't some lead shit, isn't it?" he continued as he dragged a long puff from his cigar. "Respond motherfucker." he flicked the cigarette down and as he was about to make his way to you Hoodie shaked again his bottle of pills. "You're tired. Get some rest." Masky snatched the pill bottle and walked the other way, adjusting his mask back on.
Should you thank Hoodie? No,what he did wasn't for your sake, but for this manor's moments of silence before the storm. There were a set of unspoken rules, each one of us knowing them the moment we set foot inside this haunting place. Fights were not allowed inside public rooms, all conflict is either in one's intimacy or outside the manor's quarters. Masky's temper almost made this rule impossible to follow but Hoodie's calm demeanor complimented his fiery personality perfectly. Maybe that's why they came together here in the first place.. "How long now?" Hoodie's voice snapped you out of your thoughts. "One month until the police said they will have a lead." after a few moments of silence his silvery voice responded "Son of a bitch." he got up and walked after his partner,no other word being exchanged in return.
We were in a sticky situation at the moment, you were only the voice mail of it. Every now and then you are tasked to go out in town to find out if there is any evidence that could lead to the murderous activity of this manor. Every source of evidence is destroyed by any means, the digital evidence is handled by BEN and the human one is handled by the occupats of this manor. Proxies, such as you and the other three men are put to tougher missions, including getting rid of the bodies from the other's killings.
Recently, Jeff was tasked to get rid of papers in a detective's house but his careless attitude didn't calculate that his wife was home, resulting in his need to get rid of her.
She managed to run but not too far off as she was killed in the place you just attended. Since his job wasn't to get rid of the body,he called in a proxy, not even bothering to hide the evidence. From what you managed to hear,Toby was the only proxy available at the moment and his arrival was late because of the encounter of a creature on his way out the woods, resulting in others finding the body. You only massaged your temples to the tought of him anxiously walking around his room, waiting for The Master's punishment.
A few knocks got your attention, making you open the doors in an instant after giving your clipboard one more look. It held the information of the new resident of this manor, its name being on the very top in bold letters, your thumb holding the clipboard on 'Cody's' family name.

Merman!Draken x fem!reader xMermaid!Emma
Bi reader and emma because I said so
Tw: Yandere!
TIME SKIP EMMA AND DRAKEN FROM THE FINAL ARC!!
-
Yandere Draken and Emma who were enjoying a nice date together before being rudely interrupted by fishing nets being thrown at them by a boat that the both didn’t know was even there.
Yandere Draken and Emma who then were held captive and soon later thrown into a large tank big enough for them both to swim around and hide when the strange humans with white cloaks and a clipboard would come by and stare at them before quickly writing down something on their clipboard.
Yandere Draken and Emma who hated how the humans would treat them. Taking either one away from each other to run tests or experiments whenever they felt like it. How some humans didn’t even bother to be gentle with them when handling them. They hated every single second with these weird humans.
Yandere Draken who would comfort yandere Emma who would cry and whine about how much she misses her home. Her friends and family. How these mean humans scare her and that she wants to leave. All Draken could do is stroke his fingers through her hair and whisper sweet nothings into her ear.
Yandere Draken who would protect Emma from the humans when they would try to take her away from him. He would hiss and show his razor sharp teeth to try to scare those humans away. His arm wrapped tightly around her waist as he drags her down to there little home that they made.
Yandere Draken and Emma who soon later got use to their new life. They now know when they were going to be fed, when they are going to be taken away for test, experiments, etc. They also now know some of the humans names. They don’t really like the man with blonde hair and glasses. He’s super harsh towards them, especially towards Emma.
Yandere Draken and Emma who were doing what they usually do on a boring day. Play around. The two chased each other around in their large tank, not paying any mind to anyone outside. As the both of them messed around, you watched with a small smile at the two merfolk who seemed to be having a fun time with each other. Your boss assigned you to the both of them. Claiming that you we’re finally ready to work and be assigned to merfolk’s.
You of course, was thrilled to work with these two merfolk. You heard a lot about them by some of the workers here. How close and protective they are of each other. How strong and fast they are. And not to mention how good looking the two of them are.
When the two finally decided to take rest after hours of playing around, they finally notice you sitting down on a chair with a book in hand. Emma was the first one to swim a bit closer to you, trying to see what you look like since she’s never seen you before.
The moment you finally decided to look up, you were met with honey eyes looking straight at you. You flinched a bit before breaking out into a smile and waving at the mermaid. She backs up quickly. Not expecting you to wave let alone smile at her! It took her a minute, before waving back timidly. Draken swims up to the two of you. Growing curious about the new human.
“Draken! Look isn’t she pretty!” Emma excitedly tells him. He looks at Emma before looking at you and nodding.
“She is”
“She waved at me! Waved! And also smiled! No one has ever been that nice when they first encounter us!” Draken smiles as he listens to Emma ramble about how you were about to become her favorite new human already.
Your face grew confused as the two talk. Not being able to understand because of the thick glass.
Once she finished talking to the merman, she turns around to face you and has her hands pressed up against the glass before excitedly talking to you.
Unfortunately you weren’t able to hear anything because of the glass. You could see that the merman also knew that as he chuckles at the rambling mermaid.
-
A month has passed since the three of you met. And I got to say, the two merfolks really like you a lot. They like how kind and gentle you are. How you glare or snap at your coworkers who make fun of or treat them like shit.
Emma liked how you gave her extra food than she needed when no one was looking. She liked how you would softly brush her hair and braid it with some nice pearls and shells that you would bring.
She felt like she was back home every time you would bring back something from the beach.
You would also reassure draken that emma would be okay when they would take her away. Telling him that you wouldn’t let any of them hurt her in any way. And he was grateful for that. Even though there was a language barrier between you three, he still understood the gestures and the tone of your voice when reassuring him.
You would make sure that he was alright and that he felt well. You would always make sure that their water was good and clean because some of your coworkers could care less about their living environment.
You always took such great care of them.
Which lead the both of them start growing some very questionable feelings for you.
It started off slow. Emma being a little more clingy then usual. Her trying to get you to stay with them a little more longer when you had mountains of work to do. Her pouting and glaring at anyone who would get to close to you for her liking.
And then there’s Draken. He started being a little more protective of you. Making sure that you have eaten and that no one was hurting or bothering you. He would sometimes hiss and show off his razor sharp teeth at anyone who he thinks is a threat when they would get close to you.
You at first didn’t really mind until their behavior towards you and your coworkers started growing a little more concerning.
It then started getting worse. They would both claw and bite at anyone who would even be close or even TOUCH you. You could be sitting near the tank, hand in the water trying to make sure it’s the right temperature for them and a coworker or friend of yours could come by and check up on you to see if everything is going alright and even pat you on the shoulder before Draken immediately comes up from the water and scratches off that person’s hand off you.
Or you could be braiding emma’s hair like usual during your lunch break and as she lets out soft sighs as she enjoys the feeling of your hands running through her hair before immediately glaring and hissing at your poor friend who just wanted to ask what you wanted for lunch.
You started growing concern.
So you decided to distance yourself a bit from them for the time being. Maybe they’ll go back to normal after not seeing or interacting with you for a few days. Right?
Wrong
Absolutely wrong
The moment you didn’t show up to work the next day, all hell broke lose.
The both of them would absolutely REFUSE to let anyone other than you near them. They would claw, bite and scratch anyone who dares to touch either one of them. Refusing to do anything unless YOU are the one to do it.
The workers can see through the glass tank and cameras how the two merfolks desperately look around for you. They can hear them let out loud clicks and chirps of desperation and distress as they look everywhere for you.
And if their ears weren’t failing them. They swear they hear the words “mate”coming from the two merfolks.
They seemed to turn more aggressive the longer you were gone. It gotten so bad to the point that your boss calls you and pleads you to come back. That they have gotten very out of control and that your the only one who can help and calm them down.
You got so many calls that you decided that it was time to go back after a VERY short break.
You came back the next day. The sounds of your heels clicking through the halls was enough to let everyone let out a sigh of relief. Happy that your back to take care of your “mates”.
You raised a brow when someone told you that. Confused, because what do they mean by “mates”?
You walk up to your boss who looks rather relieved that your back.
He quickly tells you that he’s happy to have you back before rushing you to emma and draken.
“T-they seem to not be doing so well! Please just go in and calm down your pets”
“They’re not pets!-“ And he shoves you into the room. You huff before walking near the railing where it’s close to the top of the tank. You walk down the little stairs before kneeling down and calling out their names.
“Emma? Draken? I’m here! I heard that you guys miss me!” But nothing. You stayed there for a few minutes before getting up and preparing to leave. But before you could walk away up the stairs, you felt a hand grab your ankle and pull you into the water. You let out a yelp before being met with the cold water.
You thrash around trying to get back up to the surface to breathe but the strong arms around your waist prevented you from doing so. You then felt a delicate pair of hands cup your cheeks before you felt someone’s lips touch your own. After they pulled away, you were able to breathe.
You gasp when you noticed that it was Emma. She looked delighted to see you again. You could hear her let out some clicks and chirps.
She was talking to you
Unfortunately, you couldn’t understand. The male behind you who you now know was Draken told her something before she looks at you sheepishly.
She then proceeds to say a word that made your eyes almost pop out of your sockets.
“You are mate”
What the fuck?!
-
Uhh I started writing this after remembering about a dream I had a few months ago about being taken and captured by mermaid emma and merman Draken🌝 THEY DID NOT LET ME GO😭

Special to you
Idol heeseung x f reader
[chapter 1]
Summary: you were working at one of enhypen concerts as a security guard. You didn’t really know enhypen and you only got the job because your friend had worked there the year prior. You never would’ve imagined you’d become someone special
Fluff, series
———————————————————————————
It was just another day for me. Get up, got to work, come home and rot in bed. Unfortunately it wasn’t the rot in my bed hour instead, I have to get up and get ready for work. I enjoyed being a security guard. I don’t know how I got the job, I have the build of a lasagna noodle but hey it’s money.
I got up and got ready in my usual outfit, long black pants, my black shirt with my name embroidered in it and my belt that holds all my necessities. I slicked back my hair in a bun before brushing my teeth. Today a band called enhypen are playing, I hope they’re good. The last concert I was a security guard for was honestly not my cup of tea.
Once I finished getting ready I grabbed my bag and keys and headed out the door. I got in my car and started making my way to the stadium.
“God the traffic is horrendous” I spoke to myself. I hadn’t even gotten half way down the road from my house and there is already a long line of cars.
……………………………………………………………………………………
I waited in traffic for half an hour before arriving to the stadium. I parked my car and booked it to the front door. I can’t risk being late.
I got inside quickly and made my way to the lounge room for employees. I hung my bag up and quickly clocked in. This band must be huge, the amount of people here was more than I’ve ever seen in my 3 months on the job.
I quickly equip all my necesites like my walkie talkie and water and I head out to the floor. Today I was positioned directly in front of the stage. I settled in and observed as fans begin to spill in. These fans must be here for VIP exclusive since the concert didn’t start for another hour.
Once all the fans had made their way to their designated areas, a voice came over the speakers.
“Hello engene! Are you guys ready for soundcheck?” A voice that sounded distinctly Australian spoke. All the fans screamed. Honestly I don’t know how I am going to survive the screams when all the fans are in here.
Enhypen and fans talked a little before starting sound check. Let me tell you when these guys started singing I felt like I could fly. Their voices were breath taking, it took everything in me not to turn around and watch myself.
That’s one of the worst parts about being a security guard, we have to keep our eyes on the crowd at all times.
Some time had passed and it was now time for the actual concert. A part of me was excited for it after listening to their soundcheck.
The lights turned off and the stage lights came on as fans screams shook the stadium. The energy in here was amazing. I could tell everyone was very excited.
“HELLO EVERYBODY!!!” A voice high pitched yet super smooth voice announced. I heard this voice a lot during their sound check. I assume he’s one of the lead singers and his adlibs were to die for.
Fans yelled back hello in response to his. I thought it was cute. I hadn’t attended a concert as a fan in a while so seeing others do it warms my heart in a sense.
Everyone went quiet before the song came over the speakers. Once the music hit their ears everyone went crazy. I watched in amazement. Fans jumping up and down, smiles painting their faces. The pure joy shown around the stadium was beautiful.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I was standing there watching them before the girls in front of me started going ballistic. They looked at me then behind me. I was really confused until I felt a breath brush against my ear as the person sang into their microphone.
I wanted to turn around so bad. I had to fight the itching urge at the back of my head.
“You can bite me, you complete me” he sung the words so smoothly next to me. I felt my body almost give away. I understood now why these fans go crazy over these men when they give them fan service like this.
I resisted the urge and he went back to performing I assume because I no longer felt his presence behind me.
More time had passed and the members were now walking off the stage to give high fives to fans as they sung their final song of the night.
Fans screamed and reached their arms out in hopes to be one of the lucky ones. It’s was such an adorable moment, and it was also a moment to finally see what they look like.
I analyzed all of them. They were all so tall and slender, perfect representation of vampires. None of their faces disappointed either. Their beauty deserves to be framed, maybe even sculpted and placed in a museum.
As I was analyzing them, one made eye contact with me. He was tall, with a cold yet warm demeanor. He had the prettiest doe eyes a girl has seen and his cheeks reminded me of a hamster.
I quickly looked away, I’d rather not become the center of attention. My luck seemed to fail though as he began walking in my direction. I acted professional none the less.
He looked at me one last time before climbing onto the barricade. I mentally cursed myself before going and grabbing his waist lightly feeling weird about it. It was apart of my job, to make sure none of them got hurt but something about grabbing and attractive man by the waist felt dirty.
He eventually stepped back down and looked at me once more. He smiled and bowed ever so slightly.
“Thank you beautiful” he said before walking away. I contained myself and went back to my spot. I couldn’t lie though, that one sentence did things to me. It was like my heart became liquid.
They all bid their goodbyes and reassuring fans that they’ll see them for their second concert here tomorrow. Then I realized, I will be working AGAIN tomorrow. I don’t think I can’t handle another day.
As my coworkers helped fans out of the stadium I went back stage to throw away trash left behind. As I was heading to the trash I bumped into someone.
I quickly apologized before realizing it was the same guy. I gave him a sheepish smile in hopes he won’t try to get me fired to this inconvenience.
“So we meet again?” The man said with a playful smile.
“I guess so I respond anxiously” I was not one to talk to men. I get flustered way too easily.
“My names heeseung..”

𝖯𝗋𝗈𝗅𝗈𝗀𝗎𝖾, 𝙰𝚌𝚝 𝙸𝙸: Honorary Knights

Authors note: Sup, how's everyone's day? Amazing as usual I presume? Anywho- I've been trying out this new style of drawing as mine solidifies. Also, I've realized that if I make less drawings with colors these chapters go a lot faster because I can't continue writing if I have an idea for a scene. I NEED to finish the drawing then go back to writing (It's rare if I continue writing after an idea).
A week has passed since I discovered I was in a game.
Sirius helped clear the final temple, returning Mondstadt's elemental flow back to normal after a week straight of work. Paimon and he were on their way to Acting Grand Master Jean to report the good news.
Unfortunately for me, I happen to be walking in the same direction to renew the book I borrowed from librarian Lisa, lest she comes looking for me if I don’t inform her I need more time with it.
Talk about bad luck.
“So, [Name], what’s new? Do you have something interesting to tell us?” Paimon questioned me.
“Nope. Got nothing new,” I did not look at her when I said that.
She stumps her little foot in the air. “What? What about that book you’ve been reading?! Have you not learned anything new after a week of reading it!?”
“Well, it’s nothing new for you. But it’s new for me. Lost memories, remember?”
“...What is the book about anyway?” She asked instead of responding to me.
“Teyvat’s history. I finished reading it, and I’m getting another one. This one was a very old edition.”
“Is Teyvat’s history that interesting to you?”
“Yes, very,” I nod. “What about you two? Anything else besides reporting back to Master Jean?”
“I wanted to ask them about the teardrop we found in the forest,” Aether responded. “It was left behind by Stormterror, so maybe they know what it is.”
“Good thinking! It could also help us deal with stormterror easier.”
Reaching the Knight's Headquarters, we saw Master Jean who appeared to be talking with someone.
“Look, it’s Jean!” Paimon pointed at her. “Who is she talking to?”
She seems to be talking to a woman. She had a black outfit with purple here and there; her hair a burned-blonde, bangs that rested right above her eyebrows; her face hidden behind a gray mask.
She spelled trouble through-and-through.
“Don’t know. But I have a gut feeling that she’s no good,” I said, eyeing her with distrust.
“Let’s wait for her to finish,” Sirius said. “We can wait on the side over here. I don’t want to be in the middle of the street.”
As we waited, we saw the frustration from both ends of the party. Jean looked adamant about her position, while the masked woman seemed to be irritated; she looked like she was trying hard to convince Jean to whatever she wanted from her.
I remember this part of the story. Jean gets pressured by a Fatui agent –a Snezhnayan diplomat– Anastasia, to kill Dvalin. Amalia warned me about them:
“Never. Ever. Trust the Fatui.”
The scary part about that was how she looked dead serious. Before then, I had never seen that side of her. The fact she changed so quickly too… I got nightmares for a month straight; Amalia would come in and tell me how I was a bad friend.
Ahg, I get shivers just thinking about it… I looked back at two political figures. I’ll trust Amalia and my gut feeling about the Fatui. Note to self: “Don’t talk to the Fatui.”
“Looks like she’s done talking to that person!” Paimon announced. “Let’s go talk to her.”
Jean’s gaze followed the masked woman, face laced with worry. Her eyes then darted towards us as we got in her peripheral view.
“Oh, Traveler, you're back,” she noticed I was with him, “and company… Is she the one you and Amber were talking about?”
“Yup!” Paimon confirmed. “This is [Name], our traveler buddy and official cook!” Her eyes sparkled at the mention of cooking.
I sighed, turning my attention to Jean. I smiled, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Master Jean.”
“Likewise,” she reciprocated the smile.
“Now that everyone is acquainted, Paimon has to ask. Who was that just now?”
“First, I would like to thank you,” she looked at Sirius, “Lisa informed me that the elemental flow is finally stable because of your help, and skill. For that, you have Mondstadt’s gratitude.”
Sirius scratched the back of his neck, embarrassed for getting compliments.
“Is someone getting shy now?~” Paimon teased.
“Leave him alone Paimon. He actually did something, unlike someone.”
“I told you, Paimon is moral support, moral support!”
“Anyway–” Jean intervened before she had to break up a fight, “the aftermath of Stormterror’s last attack is finally settled for the moment. But not the pressure from the delegation, in fact, it has become too big to ignore.”
“Delegation? From Liyue, or Inazuma City?” Paimon asked.
“Snezhnaya,” she paused and then continued, “they choose to follow the god of Cryo. Their envoys go by a particular name: The Fatiu. Heard of them?”
“Are you kidding? They are famous! Wait, infamous is more of the word.”
“Let me guess, the Fatui wants to take Stormterror down, right?” I said fully knowing the answer to the question.
“Correct. I don’t think killing Stormterro will do anyone any good, nor do I think it’s the right action to take. The Cryo god’s Fatui have always coveted the Anemo god’s power.” She had the same worried face I saw when the Fatui woman left, “I don’t believe they have Mondstatd’s best interest at heart.” I nod in agreement.
“Speaking of power…” Sirius began.
“What is it?”
“I have something I need to show the Knights,” he finished.
“Oh? Then let us go inside the Headquarter. We shouldn't discuss important matters…” she looked around, “out in the open.”
Jean led us inside. Before I stepped foot inside her office I stopped. Jean noticed and turned to see if everything was fine.
“Sorry guys, I need to return this book to Lisa,” I said from just outside the office.
“I see,” she understood and said nothing else about it, she knew how Lisa could be when a book was missing. “Before you go, could you do me a favor?”
“Yes. What is the favor?”
“Once you’re done, tell Lisa to come to my office please. We might need her.”
“Okay, I’ll tell her,” Jean closed the door dismissing me. I skipped a few steps to reach the other side of the building faster.
I opened the door to the library and went in. I looked at the front desk only to find it empty.
Lisa’s not there… Maybe she’s over here. I walked through the first floor, but no Lisa in sight.
Not here either… Going downstairs, I ran through the whole floor as there wasn’t anyone in the room, yet she wasn’t there either.
Where is she!? I yelled internally. So, she can miss a day, but we can’t? Talk about unfairness.
“Hi, darling.”
“AHHHHH!” I turned around but managed to slip due to a paper on the floor. “Ouf–! Awo! That hurt…!” rubbing my butt, the voice reached out their hand to help me up. I looked up and saw, the one-and-only, Lisa!
“Oh, dear, are you alright?” I took her hand and responded.
“Yeah, I’m fine…” I lied. My butt still hurts.
“You keep on getting scared whenever I greet you. I’m not that scary to you, am I?” She sounded hurt asking that.
I rolled my eyes. You look harmless, but you’re a rose with pesky thorns… That’s what Amalia has said anyway.
“Of course not, miss Lisa,” I dismissed her. I faked an innocent smile and said, “You look average to me.”
It looked like an arrow had hit her bullseye in the heart. She was mumbling how cruel youngsters are nowadays, and how, begin quote, ‘her beauty is fading because of her age,’ end quote.
I didn’t mean my comment obviously. I only said that to get back at her for the two times she’s given me a heart attack. She looks young for her age, that’s for sure.
“What are you back here for, returning the book I presume?” She asked me, leaving behind the commentary I made like I never said it in the first place.
“Yes, you see, the one I have is outdated–a century outdated to be precise–of the history of Teyvat,” I explained.
She hummed, “yes, I remember. I found it quite odd that you wanted to read such an old book. Now I know why.” She turned and waved her hand in a follow-me motion, “Come, I know exactly where the newer version is.”
We moved to the section that Amber showed me when I came here last time. Looking at it now, the history section was much bigger than I remembered.
“Here it is!” Lisa handed me a book. “This is the newest version, it came out a year ago.”
“Thank you again, miss Lisa,” I thanked her as I eyed the book.
I wonder what they added.
“Please, this is nothing compared to the work I had to do the past week,” she rubbed her shoulders. “Taking care of the Temples of the Four Winds was more of a hassle than I had imagined.”
We walked up the stairs and stood by the front desk.
“You’re being too modest. Thanks to you and the others, Mondsatdt has one less thing to worry about.”
“Thank you again, sweet-pie,” she smiled. “I checked out the book already, so you’re as free as a bird.”
“Thank you,” I lightly vowed and walked toward the door.
!
I almost forgot!
“Oh! Miss Lisa?”
“Yes?”
“Master Jean asked for you, she is in her office.”
“Ah, thank you for informing me. Now shoo, off you go,” she pushed me out of the library as she herself went out, locking it with a key after she made sure there was no one else inside.
“[Name], if you ever find yourself unable to find a quiet place to read, go to windrise. It was nice weather, and if you’re lucky, you’ll hear the soft strumming of a lyre.”
“Thank you for the advice,” I thanked her for the third time today. I walked out of the Headquarters and made my way to find a place to sit and read.
I can go to Windrise like Lisa suggested, I looked up to the blue, and the sky is clear. Oh! There is a Statue of the Seven there! I can try and obtain powers similar to how the MC did in the game— well, better said how Sirius did. Plus, there is a big space to test out the System.
The air near the sea is the best… I breached in the air.
I basked in the atmosphere underneath the massive oak tree, the symbol of Mondstadt’s hero – Vannessa.
The trail from Mondstadt City to Windrise was perfect. Not a single monster interfered, with a few slimes that minded their own business when I passed by. It was a bit strange, since I remembered they attacked on sight. But, this is the world of Genshin, some things are bound to change.
“All right, time to get to work. System!”
“I’m sorry, I can’t make a proper analysis at the moment,” Lisa said.
“Huh? But Paimon thought you were able to see some impurities.”
“Correct. But it’s not enough for me to come to a conclusion,” she turned to Jean and Sirius, “give me some time. I’ll take a look through the library's restricted section.”
Jean nods. “I’ll leave all the research to you then, Lisa,” she looks at the outlanders.
“I’ll notify you all if I make any progress,” she went closer to the crystal, “thought I wouldn’t go getting your hopes up. They are incredibly ancient texts, not to mention—Ouch!” Lisa retracted her hand from the object as the force of the impurities hurt her. “Gosh, that hurt!”
“Are you okay?” Jean worriedly asked, checking her friend from any injuries. The other two were just as concerned.
“Now, now, you three are looking at me like I’m half-dead. I’m fine. The impurities in the crystal…” she looked at it before continuing, “it hurts when I get close…” She hummed in thought. “It appears to react to Visions, repealing it even.”
“What? How can that happen?” Paimon asked.
“I’m not going over the details, if not we'll be here for days-on-end. All you need to know is that the impurities and the elemental energy we embody repel each other.”
“Really?” She looked at Sirius, “then why is he able to hold it?”
“That is a good question, and a question I don’t have the answer to, unfortunately.”
“...” Sirius stayed silent through the whole interaction. What could be in his mind?
“Anyway, the crystal would be better left in the hands of my cutie,” Sirius places the crystal back in his bag. “It will be a pain if left with – both literally and metaphorically.”
“Okay. I will keep it.”
“Fascinating… Do you know anything about what makes you special?” Jean asks Sirius in wonder. He nods in solidarity.
“Well, that's the end of that,” Paimon said.
“Traveler…” Jean called, “the knights of Favonius have another favor to ask of you. Please accept the title of honorary Knight and the gratitude of the Acting grand Master.”
“Honorary Knight…of Favonius?!” Paimon gave Sirius a smirk, “look at you go. You just arrived in Mondstadt and already have a super cool title! Paimon is impressed.” Sirius puffed his chest with pride.
“We gotta tell [Name] once we see her. Oouu, she’s going to make that angry face again, Paimon can just tell!” she says excitedly with a small fire in her eyes when she thinks of your face.
“Then this is a meeting concluded,” Jean dismissed then. “We’ll meet back here if you find anything.”
“Okey-Dokey! Let’s go!” Paimon and Sirius walk out of the office leaving Lisa and Master Jean alone.
“What peculiar little creatures they all are…”
“What are you mumbling about?” Jean inquired after hearing Lisa mumble.
“Oh, nothing. Just complaining about how I haven’t had a proper nap since the incident with stormterror started,” she lied.
“Don’t worry. Soon, we can all rest properly,” Jean reassured.
A little far from the Knight’s Headquarter…
“Okay, we’re far from the knights to hear us,” Paimon stands–floats–in front of Sirius, making him stop. “There’s something you didn't tell them. The boy. The one that communicated with the dragon, kinda hard to miss.”
“I know, Paimon. But I’d like to investigate on my own first,” Sirius explained to her. “And I don’t think he’s a bad guy.”
“So you do remember him,” a boy in green caught her eyes, “he looked just like the guy down there!” Sirius looked at the guy Paimon pointed at.
“The exact same shade of green, what a coincidence. Seems like green is a popular color.”
“See? See? Wait… Hold on a minute… that… that's the same guy!”
“Hmm… looks like him,” he said nonchalantly.
“Stop joking around and let’s go after him!”

After running through the rain for a few miles we finally made it far enough to be safe from patrol. We were in what looked like what used to be a barber shop or something. Regardless of what it used to be, now it was our shelter for the night.
“You should get some rest, Ellie. We aren’t making it to the State House tonight.” I said to the young girl.
She eyed Tess and Joel, clearly unsure if she’d be safe lowing her guard after finding out she had been bitten.
“You’ll be safe, I promise.” I tried to reassure her.
She slowly nodded and found herself a dry spot to curl up for the night. Tess and Joel stood on the opposite side of the building. I walked over to them so we could discuss our game plan.
“So, it’s,” I checked my watch, “just passed 2:30 am, sun will be up by around 7:00 ish, we got at least 4 hours for watch. We can each take an hour and 20 minutes.” I suggested.
“I ain’t sleepin’.” Tessl said matter of factly.
“Yeah, me neither. Someone needs to watch the door and someone needs to keep an eye on that kid.” Joel said.
“One: door’s barricaded, ain’t nothing getting in through there. Two: she said that bite is 2 weeks old. She hasn’t gone all crazy yet, she won’t overnight. It’ll be fine.” I tried to argue.
“I don’t trust it. That doesn’t happen, Yn. But I mean if you want to risk yourself and-” I knew he was about to mention the baby but I gave him a pointed look warning him not to, “and sleep,” he corrected himself, “then be my fucking guest.”
I sighed, “Well I am tiered Joel so yeah I think I’ll take the so-called risk.”
I walked away and dropped my bag down to use as a pillow and used Joel’s jacket I took from the apartment to cover my upper body up. Every time I’ve ever slept outside the walls it had always been either with, or at the very least beside Joel as he took his watch shift. So being away from him right now felt strange, even though he was only a few yards away from me. Luckily though I was still tired enough to fall asleep fairly quickly.
Unfortunately, I had only managed to sleep a little over an hour. I tried going back to sleep but it was no use. So, instead, I got up and walked over to Joel and Tess.
“You can go back to sleep.” Joel said quietly.
“I’m fine. If one of you wants to rest for a bit I can take over for one of you.” I offered.
“We’re good.” Tess said, not taking her eyes off the girl.
“Fine.” I sighed and grabbed Joel’s bag.
He never checks the small, inner pocket of his bag and I had gotten into a habit of tucking a small book in there when I could, even if I wasn’t going with them I would still do it. I wasn’t sure if he ever finished reading them or not but he would always return it to me when he got back and had something to say about it.
“What are you doing?” Joel asked.
“Looking for something.”
I didn’t remember him returning the last one I gave him, so I wanted to see if it was still in there. And lucky for me it was. I pulled out an old, slightly faded copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Joel gave me a weird look.
“I mean, if you don’t need me to watch anything and I’m not falling back asleep, might as well pass the time some way.”
I took it over to the wall and sat down. Luckily the rain had stopped, giving way to the light of the moon. This gave me just enough light to read in. Despite my efforts, I fell asleep about 30 minutes later and didn’t wake back up until the sun had risen. Sitting against the hard wall like that made my back hurt as I stood up and walked over to put my book back in Joel’s bag.
“Ellie awake yet?” I asked.
“Nope.”
“Okay well, I’m going to go find somewhere to pee.” I said before walking off.
When I got back Ellie was now awake and Joel had the rifle he had stolen from the guard pointed at her.
“Show us your arm.” He said.
She sighed before rolling up the sleeve of her jacket, showing the scar from where she had been bitten.
“Yeah, it’s not getting any worse is it?” She sassed.
I walked over and squatted down beside her.
“Can I see it?” I asked.
I didn’t get a good look at it in the chaos last night and wanted to see it for myself. She nodded and held it over to me so I could see it better.
“If we’re in the open city why aren’t we getting swarmed?” She asked, I turned to Joel for him to answer her.
“Don’t worry about it.” He said causing me to roll my eyes.
“Well, I’m gonna.” She sassed.
“We’ll be fine.” I said quietly before letting go of her arm and standing up.
“What was Marlene doing with an infected kid?” Tess asked.
“I’m not infected.” Ellied argued.
I walked over to sit with Joel and Tess, “I mean she’s right. She was bitten but not infected. I know that doesn’t happen but it did… But why were you with Marlene then?”
“She found me after I was bitten.” She explained.
“And she didn’t shoot you?” Joel asked harshly.
“Clearly not.” Ellie snapped back, causing me to fight the urge to snicker at her response before she explained a little more, “She locked me up and her guys test me every day to make sure I wasn’t infected.”
“How did they test you?” I asked before I could process what I was saying.
“They’d make me count to ten then hold my hand out and keep it steady. But you know what I think really impressed them was the fact that I didn’t turn into a fucking monster.”
I nodded, “Fair enough.”
“I gotta pee.” She said going to stand up, but Joel did the same and his grip on the rifle tightened.
“Joel. Let her go. She’s not going anywhere. You heard her, she’s worried about what’s out there.” I said quietly to Joel before turning to her, “Go back there, just find a spot. And here, use this. It’s the best we got. Just tear out a few pages.” I said tossing an old magazine to her.
She caught it and disappeared into one of the small side rooms.
“Nothing’s gonna kill me in here, right?” She called out.
“No, you’re fine. I just went too.” I yelled back.
As Joel sat down, I noticed his right hand was shaking and still bloody from last night.
“Broken?” Tess asked having seen the same thing as me.
“Maye a hairline, it’ll heal fast.” He replied.
“Can I see it?” I asked gently.
“It’s fine.” He said coldly.
“Joel, let me see your fucking hand.” I said, holding mine out for him to put his in.
He sighed but did as I told him. I looked it over, it was defiantly swollen. Luckily it wasn’t too nasty, the rain helped clean it out pretty well last night.
“It’s fairly clean. I’m gonna wrap it for you.” I told him rather than asking already standing to grab my bag.
“Joel she made it through the fucking night.” Tess said as I walked back over, bag in hand.
“Doesn’t matter.” Joel bit back.
I took my seat on the ground beside Joel and began to bandage up his hand.
“It’s gonna happen sooner or later.” He tried to reason, “We’re still close to the wall, we sneak her back into the QZ, and we find a different way to get the battery.”
“This is our best shot,” Tess argued, “If we take her back there, someone is gonna notice her arm, they’ll scan her and kill her.”
“Well better them than us.” He shot back.
“May I give my two cents here?” I asked finishing up Joel's bandages.
Tess nodded for me to go on.
“I can’t believe I’m sayin’ it but I agree with Tess. We can’t bring her back… and we can’t kill her. It ain’t fair to her. Bringing her to the State House is our best option here, rather than bringing her back to the QZ where we know she will get killed, or killing her ourselves. At least that way we won’t have to live knowing we lead her to slaughter.” I said.
“You two both need to quit talking about her like she actually has a life ahead of her.” Joel said.
“Maybe she does.” I argued just as we heard footsteps coming back.
“Whatever, let’s just eat something before we have to head out again.” Joel said digging into his bag.
“You hungry? We can share some of ours.” Tess offered as Ellied sat back down.
“Marlene sent me with my own.” She said before digging into her bag and pulling something out of it.
Joel passed out a couple of pieces of dried jerky to both me and Tess. I broke off a piece of mine but as I brought it up to my mouth and caught a whiff of it, it made me feel nauseous. I sat up a bit more and brought it away from my face to take a few deep breaths before handing the pieces back to Joel.
“Here. I’m not hungry.” I said.
“You need to eat.” Joel said, not taking them.
“Joel, take them.” I snapped a little.
“You okay kid? You look really pale.” Tess said, taking the jerky from my hand.
“I’m not a kid. And I’m fine.” I lied.
I could tell she wasn’t convinced but I am glad she didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, she put the jerky away and dug in her bag for something.
“Here, eat these, I’ve been secretly growing them at my place. You need to eat something. And drink some water.” She said handing me a small bag of berries.
I nodded in thanks and slowly ate them. I was so caught up in trying not to puke that I had completely tuned out the conversation Ellie and Tess were having until Tess stood up from her stool and walked closer to the young girl. Joel tried to stop her, but I grabbed his arm to keep him from doing so.
“Why are you so special to Marlene? And don’t lie or we’ll take you back.” She threatened.
“You take me back, you don’t get your battery.” Ellie popped off to her.
Tess scoffed, “You heard that huh? Well, then you must’ve also heard that he wants to shoot you.”
Ellie eyed Joel nervously before replying, “Yeah, but she said you shouldn’t, at least not yourself. And something tells me she won’t let him do it.” She said referring to me.
Joel rolled his eyes at her remark.
“Look, I’m gonna talk to you like you’re an adult,” Tess began as she knelt down in front of Ellie, “We’re not good people, we’re doing this for us. Because apparently, you’re worth something. But we don’t know what you’re worth if we don’t know what we have. So, answer my question.”
I could tell Ellie thought about what she was about to do, she seemed apprehensive.
“She told me not to tell anyone and now I’m telling the first people that I-” She hesitated.
“Hey, it’s okay we won’t tell anyone.” I finally spoke up, trying to reassure her.
She took a deep breath before continuing, “There’s a Firefly base camp somewhere out west… with doctors. They’re working on finding a cure.”
“We’ve heard this all before.” Joel sighed, annoyed that we were even considering giving her the time of day to explain herself.
“And whatever happened to me…”
“-Is the key to the vaccine.” Joel said with her, knowing what she was about to say.
“That’s what this is? We’ve heard this a million times before. Vaccines, miracle cures. None of it works. Ever.” He argued.
“Fuck you, man. I didn’t ask for this.” Ellied snapped at him standing up.
“You and me both. Tess, Yn, this isn’t gonna end well. We need to go back.” He urged.
I stood up as Tess did the same.
“Let’s just finish it.” Tess said, “It doesn’t matter if she is or isn’t what the Fireflies say. If they believe that she is then… we get what we want.”
“I mean, best-case scenario she is, we hand her over, they find a cure, we get the truck and find Tommy. Worst-case scenario is she isn’t and this was a waste of time.” I said.
“No, Yn, worst-case is we all end up dead.” Joel said harshly.
“Can you two get over your lover's quarrel, are we going or not?” Tess asked.
Joel sighed and grabbed his bag, “If she so much as twitches.” He warned.
Ellied began to snarl and make choking sounds as she pretend to twitch around causing me to bite back a snicker. Joel didn’t find it amusing.
“Don’t.” Tess reprimanded her and she stopped immediately.
We all collected our stuff and as Joel picked up his newly acquired rifle Ellie eyed it up and said, “Can I have a gun.”
“Absolutely not.”
“No.”
“Hell no.” Joel, Tess, and I all said respectively.
“Okay, Jesus. Fine. I’ll have to just throw a fucking sandwich at them.” She said as she picked up what was left over and put it in her bag.
Joel moved the barricade from the door and then opened it to make sure the coast was clear. When he confirmed that it was, we followed him out.
When we walked out, the sun was shining and you could see the city around us. Or what used to be a city that was now falling apart and overrun but nature. Ellie was ahead of me and watched her with a small smile as she took in the sight before her.
“Whoa.” She sighed.
“I know, I had the same reaction my first time seeing it.” I said, nudging her slightly with my arm.
“We should get movin’.” Joel said.
And with that, we began walking. We passed some of the craters left from the bombings. Just like me, Ellie was oddly fascinated with everything we passed.
“It’s like a fucked up moon. Are these from the bombings?” She asked.
“Yeah, Joel or Tess can tell you more about it. I don’t really remember it.” I admitted.
“They bombed most of the bigger cities like this, “ Tess explained, “They had to slow the spread somehow. It worked here, but it didn’t in most places.”
We walked a little further before we got to a road that was impassable due to a collapsed building. It was really in the most inconvenient spot. If it wasn’t blocked, then the State House would have been a straight shot taking ten to fifteen minutes tops to get there. But since that was not an option we had to choose one of the alternate routes.
“Long way or short way?” Joel asked.
“Well, I mean it’s the long way or the ‘we’re fuckin dead’ way.” Tess said.
“Well, I vote long way, just based on that limited information.”
Joel nodded, knowing it was the safer route, “We have to check it from the hotel first.”
We nodded and began walking that way. It was still eerie walking past all the abandoned cars. I didn’t dare to look in them. I made that mistake once. Most of them were empty, but not all of them. You had a chance of finding an infected or perhaps worst severely decomposing person in them.
As we walked, Joel hung back in the back of the group, Tess lead the way while Ellie and I walked together.
“Where the fuck are they all?” She asked.
I just shook my head, “You’ll know it when they’re close. Don’t ask about them though, you’ll jinx us.” I warned.
“I didn’t know last time.” She said.
“Was that when you got bit?” I asked.
She nodded, “It was in the old mall in the QZ.”
Tess turned around at that and waited for us to catch up.
“You got bit in the sealed-off mall that no one is supposed to go in. Ever.”
“Whatever. I snuck in. I wanted to see what it was like. Didn’t think there was gonna be anything in there and then one just came at me outta nowhere. I thought I got away, but.”
“So, it was just you in there, alone?” Tess asked.
“Yeah.” Ellie said.
“How old are you?” Tess asked another question.
“14.”
“Wow. I mean, you got some balls on you, sister.”
“Thanks.” Ellie said, smiling to herself causing me to smile a little too.
We continued our trek down the old highway, occasionally climbing over cars that had been wrecked and flipped over. Joel was staying silent which wasn’t unusual for him. Not that I wanted to speak to him right now.
“So Ellie,” I began, “No one’s going to come looking for you, right?”
“Yeah, like mom, or dad or boyfriend?” Tess added.
“Well, I’m an orphan, and ah no…” She said, “Everyone always said the outer city was crazy,” She said, changing the subject, “like there were hoards of infected running wild.”
“Not exactly like that.” Joel’s voice startled me a bit.
“People like to tell stories.” Tess added.
“So, there aren’t Super-Infected that explode fungus spores on you?” Ellie asked.
“Shit, I hope not.” Tess joked.
“Just thinking about that makes my skin crawl.” I said with a small shutter as the thought of what facing one of those would be like.
“Or what about ones with split open heads that can see in the dark like bats?” Ellied asked causing me to freeze.
I had come to learn that when I had been attacked trying to get to the Boston QZ, all those years ago with my brother and Pa that it had been a Clicker. They were the final stage of being infected. It was when you became more fungus than human. The fungus grows out of your skull, cracking it open and allowing it to grow bigger.
I took a deep breath and went to continue walking but just as I went to take a step we all froze and looked off to our left where we could hear a loud, distant howling yell of an infected.
“What was that?” Ellie asked.
“I told you, you would know when they got close.” I reminded her.
“Let’s keep movin’.” Joel said, gripping his rifle a little tighter.
We eventually made it to the hotel. When we pushed open the door the smell of murky water hit me causing me to sigh. I was not going to be able to catch a break today from horrible smells. It also looked like the rain we had just gotten had made the water in there rise a lot more.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me! You guys ever stay in a place like this?” Ellie asked.
“Uh no, a little out of our league.” Tess joked.
“How do you even know what this is?” Joel asked.
“Have you ever heard of books?” She sassed causing him to roll his eyes before he descended the few stairs down into the water.
“Wait a minute we're going in there?”
“Unfortunately.” I said to her as I tightened the straps on my backpack.
“We gotta get to the stairwell on the other side.” Tess said, nodding across the way at it.
“Well, I- I um don’t know how to swim.” She tried to argue.
“Seriously?” Joel asked.
“Do you think we have pools in the QZ?” She shot back at him.
“No, smartass. I mean,” He finished his sentence by jumping off the last step and showing the water, despite being higher than usual, only came up to right around his knees.
“I don’t know how I was supposed to know that.” Ellie said as she walked down the stairs.
I went to walk down the too but Tess stopped me.
“Careful, kid, they’re slick.” She warned with a knowing look.
Fuck. She knew.
“Thanks.” I nodded before carefully walking down with her following behind me.
The floor was covered in slippery algae so I took my time walking across it with Tess as Joel and Ellie were ahead of us.
“Does he know?” She asked.
I looked at her but didn’t answer.
“I’m not trying to pry. Just wondering if that’s got him so bent out of shape.” She explained.
“No, me being pregnant is what’s gotten him so bent out of shape. He doesn’t want it. He said the last time he held a baby was before I was even born…” I explained.
“That’s what happens when you get with a much older man,” She teased only partly joking, “But I guess the question is, do you want it?”
I nodded, “Yeah.”
“He loves you, Yn, he’ll come around.” She tried to reassure me.
I shrugged, “I just think he has too much going on right now, and worrying about me even more than he usually has to just sent him over the edge. Like he made it very clear that he doesn’t want the baby, but wants to make decisions on what is best for me now. He doesn’t need to do that. He doesn’t want it, so let me worry about it. You know?”
She nodded as we both stopped to look over at Ellie as she messed around with the old luggage cart. Then, when she jumped back, clearly startled by something, Tess and I were both pulling out our guns as Joel rushed over to help her. Joel helped her up after seeing that there was no immediate danger. She made her way over to us and we both made sure she was okay. Once we made it across the water, we had to climb up ten flights of stairs to get high enough. Joel led the way with his rifle, making sure the coast was clear for us.
When we got to the top Joel checked down the hall to make sure we were safe then walked out. When Tess and I made it there we both paused for a second to catch our breaths.
“Come on, it wasn’t that bad.” Ellie teased.
“You try climbing ten fuckin’ flights with our knees. See how you feel.” Tess shot back in defense.
“Okay, but what about her? She like in her twenties, why are you winded?” Ellied asked nodding to me.
“I have my reasons.” I said.
“That’s convincing.” She said before following Joel.
We rounded a corner and saw that part of the building had collapsed.
“Well, when the fuck did that happen?” Tess asked.
We tried to open a few of the doors but none of them would budge. I walked closer to the rubble. There was an opening I could fit through.
“Hey, what if I climb through? I can work my way around and open it from the inside maybe?” I suggested.
“Worth a shot.” Tess agreed.
“No.” Joel was quick to shut that down.
“I can go. I am the smallest.” Ellie offered up.
“No, if you die, we get nothing.” Tess said. “Let Tess go.” Joel suggested.
“Why can’t I do it?” I questioned, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Because you might get hurt.” He argued.
“And if she does, Joel, it’ll be on here. She’s a big girl she can go. Come on let's get her up there.” Tess said, ending our little argument.
They helped me up through the opening then I began climbing over hunks of cement and barbs.
“You good up there?” Joel called out to me.
“I’m fine. Just trying to map out a course. It’s a fucking a mess up here. Give me a few minutes.”
I finally mapped out my route to get over the piles of concrete without getting impaled by a metal barb. Once I made it through I took a glance around me, to the street below. Fuck. There were infected down there a lot of them. We wouldn’t be able to go that way anymore. I sighed, turning around to go let the others in.
“Joel, put your fucking gun down, if you shoot me, I’ll shoot back.” I warned as I began to move pieces of furniture out of the way.
I got to the door and opened it, my face must have said it all.
“What’s wrong?” Tess asked.
“Come see for yourself.” I said, turning around and leading them to see what I saw down in the street.
When we got over to the balcony, Ellie stepped up onto the bottom molding to get a better view. “Be careful.” I said, coming to stand beside her as she leaned over a bit more.
“There’s so many.” She said in awe.
I saw Tess nod from the corner of my eye, “Yeah, last time we came through here, they were still deep inside the buildings. But I guess enough people came through looking for the QZ, they went inside seeking shelter and that’s how they get more and more of the city bit by bit, year after year.”
We watched them as they all seemed to move together.
“They’re connected.” Ellie commented.
“More than you know.” Tess began, “The fungus also grows underground. Long fibers like wires, some of them stretching over a mile. Now, you step on a patch of cordyceps in one place, and you can wake a dozen Infected from somewhere else.”
“Really?”
Tess nodded once again, “Then they know where you are and they’re coming for you. You’re not immune from being ripped apart. You understand?”
“Tess, chill you’re scaring her.” I said.
“I’m just being honest with her. This is important for her to know. I’m trying to keep her alive.” She said defensively.
Ellie hopped down from where she was standing with a small sigh.
“So, guess we’re not going that way.”
“Nope.” I confirmed.
“So, what do we do then?” She asked, looking between the three of us.
I looked at Joel and waited for him to confirm what I already knew he was going to say.
“Museum.” He said and I immediately shook my head. “No. There’s other ways, we can take one of those.” I said.
“We don’t have a secure way to check those routes. And we’re running out of time. It’s the only option now. You knew we might go that way if you’re so terrified of it, then maybe yo-”
“Joel, I swear, if you say that I should’ve stayed back one more time I’ll push your fucking ass off this building and let the Infected have their way with you.” I said.
He was way out of line. He knew what happened last time. He knew why I was terrified to go back there.
It happened about 8 months ago. We were going out to trade with Frank and Bill. I decided to tag along, I hadn’t seen them since we met something always came up but always sent my best wishes when Joel and Tess went. But this time I was able to go.
We made it out of the QZ without any issues. I couldn’t remember why but we decided to take the route through the museum. They hadn’t taken me that way last time so I was excited to see a different part of the city. We made it in without any issues. It was when we got to the second floor. Joel had told me to have my gun ready, just in case there were any infected hiding out in there.
Tess was behind me and Joel was leading us. He had his flashlight out lighting the way. I saw it before he did. I man ran out from the shadows straight at him. He had a knife in his hand, ready to attack. Joel’s head was down, trying to get his light readjusted in his grip.
“Joel!” I yelled, getting his attention.
He sidestepped the attack just narrowly missing getting slashed. Now the man was running straight at me. I wasn’t sure what happened, but next thing I knew my ears were ringing, the man had fallen with a thud, and my hands were shaking as they gripped my now-raised gun.
What had I done?
I killed him. I killed someone. They weren’t even infected from what I could tell. Then I heard it. The howling of a dying man. I hadn’t killed him.
“You son of a bitch! You shot me!” He yelled, trying and failing to stop the blood that was coming from his stomach.
I hadn’t really aimed and he was so close that the bullet ripped him up pretty good.
It got worse though. The man had clearly gone insane because next thing I knew, as I stood there in shock, the man took his rusted knife and made a cut at the bullet wound. It wasn’t a huge one, but it was enough that he could stick his own hand into it. And that is what he did. At this point, Tess had grabbed me and was pulling me backward from the way we came and Joel was walking toward us to try and block out the man. He managed to, but not before I saw him pulling out his own intestines as he continued to bellow in pain. The last thing I saw was him finally go limp on the ground.
Once we got out, Jole made sure I was okay. I was still in shock and couldn’t find the strength to speak. So I just let him hold me for a few minutes before he began walking us back toward the QZ.
As we walked to the museum, the scene replayed over and over again in my head. It had traumatized me. Not only was that my first time killing someone, but what he did after being shot scared me. I can still hear his screams in my sleep sometimes.
“Earth to Yn?” Tess’s voice brought me out of my trance.
“Sorry, what?”
“Take this flashlight.” She held it out to me and I took it into my shaking hands.
“Okay, more ground rules,” she said, turning to Ellie, I didn’t listen to them as my eyes met Joel’s.
“You’ve been quiet.” He commented.
“Yeah, just reliving some trauma… you think he’s still in there?” I asked, referring to his dead body.
“Well, I doubt he had some kin to come collect his body.” Joel sassed.
“Joel quit being an ass. You know that scared the fuck out of me. I couldn’t sleep for a month without seeing him.” I said, tears welling up at the thought of it again.
“Hey, I’ll go ahead of you, if he’s there, close your eyes and I’ll guide you past it. Okay?” Tess offered.
I nodded, “Thank you.”
It was so weird that Tess was now being nicer to me since she figured out that I was pregnant. At least someone was, it’s not like Joel has been.
Joel went in first. He poked his head in and made sure the coast was clear once he was sure it was he went in and nodded for us to follow. I was still shaking as I followed him in, followed by Ellie, then Tess. I was zoned out to everything around me. I had one goal and one goal only: get in and get out of here. I vaguely processed Joel and Tess talking about something Ellie found but couldn’t focus enough to catch what was being said.
“Yn, you got that?” Joel asked, stepping in front of me.
“Hm?”
“Silent. Completely silent from now on.” He said and all I could do was nod.
Any other time I would’ve processed why we were being silent, but I just couldn’t right now, but I still went along with it. We made our way up the stairs, my little “friend” was on the second landing. I hesitated as we got closer. I was shocked when Joel stopped and nodded for Tess and Ellie to go passed. He stepped down closer to me and nodded, telling me the body was still there.
“Close your eyes.” He mouthed.
I nodded and did so. Then he grabbed my hand and carefully led me passed him. Joel tapped my arm and my eyes opened, we had made it past.
“Don’t look.” He mouthed before nodding me to go forward.
I went to take a step but something caught my attention. Up at the top of the stairwell, I swore I heard something. I shrugged it off as paranoia and continued to follow Tess up. Once we made it all the way up, Joel took over leading us. I was feeling a bit better having passed the body now, but something felt off.
We made it into an exhibit hall. Joel had once again made sure the coast was clear before we entered. We were back to our original lineup with Joel leading, then me, then Ellie and Tess in the back. I had made it through the doorway and was waiting for Tess and Ellie when I heard a rumbling sound. Just as they were crossing the threshold, the ceiling out in the hallway collapsed sending both of them to the floor. Joel and I were quick to help them up.
Then we heard it. Screeching and then… clicking. There was a Clicker in here with us.
Without saying a word, Ellie stayed behind me as Tess and Joel stayed ahead of me and we all moved together, slowly backing away from where we had heard the noises. I was shaking and had to bite my lip to keep from crying. Why did it have to be a damn Clicker? I would’ve much rather preferred to have another crazed man attack us than have to deal with one of them. It rounded the corner and I looked away, I didn’t even want to look at it.
As we continued to back away, I heard more clicking coming from another hall. When I turned to look, another was stumbling out. Our backs were against a display case as it stumbled around it. I watched in silent horror as it rounded the case and began to walk behind Joel. I was holding my breath to not make any sounds. Then, it all happened so fast. Someone exhaled just loud enough for it to hear. The Clicker turned and screeched at us.
Then, Joel was taking his gun and shooting at it. “Run!” He yelled at us as he tried to fight it off.
I was in complete defense mode and took off running. Tess and Ellie went one way and I split off the other way. I realized it was a stupid idea seeing as I had no idea how the fuck to get out of here and the way we had come in was now blocked off by the collapsed ceiling. It didn’t matter all that did was getting away. I heard thuds and more gunshots as I turned into another part of the exhibit. There were footsteps behind me and turned just in time to see Joel running and pointing for me to go in there. He followed in behind me, bringing the Clicker that was chasing him along with him. He pushed over one of the busts and it hit a glass display case, shattering it and distracting the Clicker. We hid behind a taller one and Joel very quietly reloaded his gun. Once he was done he glanced around us.
Then, he pointed to something past me. I turned and saw Ellie crouching behind a display by herself. I turned back to Joel and nodded before carefully making my way over to her. We got there and got her to follow us. We were inching our way to the other side when the sound of glass crunching under a boot made my heart drop. I barely had time to glance up and see the Clicker jump onto Ellie.
It had her pinned and she was doing her best to keep it away from her. I didn’t hesitate to aim my gun at it. I shot it once, twice before it stumbled off of her. Joel got her up and began rushing away with her. The Clicker stumbled for a moment before running at us once again. I fired at it again and again until it fell to the ground and I emptied two more rounds into its head.
I thought we were clear. I couldn’t hear the other but as I glanced around me I realized that Tess was nowhere to be seen. Then I heard it, the other Clicker. It was running at us before Tess got to it. She hit it with a hatchet which stopped its advances on us as it turned toward her. Joel quickly grabbed his rifle and aimed at it. Within two shots to its head, it too went down.
“Is everyone okay?” Joel asked.
“Twisted ankle, but… yeah.” Tess spoke up first before turning to Ellie, “You alright?”
“Well, I didn’t shit my pants, so…” She said but then rolled up her sleeve, “Well if it was gonna happen to one of us.”
“Hey,” Tess spoke up once again, “Let's get the fuck out of here.”
She began walking towards the window to lead us out and Ellie followed. Joel hung back for a moment.
“Are you okay?”
I nodded knowing he meant if I was physically hurt, which I wasn’t. Tears began to well up in my eyes, quickly wiped them, and just turned to follow the other two out of here. Once we got out, Joel helped Tess wrap her ankle while I helped Ellie cover the wound on her arm. As I tied off the bandage I could feel nausea creeping up my throat. I quickly but carefully hurried across the wooden planks to the other building where it was a bit more flat. I managed to get out of where they would be walking before dropping to my knees and hurling.
Once I was done, I sat back, catching my breath. I felt something tap my shoulder and opened my eyes to see Joel offering me his water canteen. I took it with a small nod.
“This is why you shouldn’t have come out here. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better. It’s still not too late to head back. You know the way back to the QZ from here.” He said gently, clearly trying to comfort me with his tone but his words did the complete opposite.
I spit out the water I was using to get the nasty taste out of my mouth before turning to him.
“You must be out of your damn mind if you think I am going back through there alone. I’ve never been out here by myself before. There ain’t no way in hell I am turning around and heading back by myself. I don’t care if you think it’ll get worse. You made it very clear this is my issue to deal with. If you’ve suddenly had a change of heart we can discuss it when we get back. We won’t be out here forever. We’ll get Ellie to the State House, get a truck, and then go to the radio tower to find Tommy. We’ll be gone a month, two months tops. I’m roughly 7-9 weeks is what the midwife said. So we will have plenty of time to discuss it then. Let’s just take care of this.” I said standing up and handing him back his canteen.
“Wait, you’re pregnant?” Ellie asked from where she stood near Tess.
“Yeah.” I sighed.
“And you came out here?” She was clearly surprised by my choice.
“Yup. Come let’s get moving.” I said, wanting the attention off of me.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Tess said nodding and leading the way.
We made our way to the edge of the building and from there you could see the golden top of the State House.
“Is it everything you’d hope it’d be?” Joel asked her.
“Jury’s still out. But, man, you can’t deny that view.” She said in awe.
“No, no you can’t.” I agreed, stepping up beside her.
“Come on, let’s try to get there before it gets dark.” Tess said before swinging herself around the edge of the rusty old fire escape ladder.
I went to go next.
“Should someone help her?” Ellie asked Joel.
“I got it.” I reassured her.
At least she genuinely cared. She followed behind me, and then Joel. We were pretty high up so it took a little while to climb all the way down.
Tess kept leading the way to the State House. I couldn’t help but feel like she was walking a lot faster than we were earlier. She was also seemingly trying to keep her distance from us. Anytime we tried to catch up too much, she speed up a little more. I wasn’t sure why she was in such a rush all of a sudden. Yes, we were trying to get there before it got dark but we were making good time.
When we finally made it, it was quiet. Too quiet.
“Where the fuck are they?” Tess asked the question that we were all thinking.
It was evident they had been here at some point seeing as there was one of their trucks parked out front still. They should be here. Joel went to check the cab of the truck. With his rifle in hand, he opened the passenger door and threw it open. Empty. However, I could see from where Tess, Ellie, and I were standing that there was blood splattered in the cab. Something had happened to them. Both Tess and I had our guns drawn ready to help Joel should he need it. He disappeared around the other side and when he didn’t signal us to follow or show up again we grew impatient and went to see what he had found.
“What the fuck is going on?” Tess asked.
“I don’t know.” He replied, staring at the empty truck.
“They went inside.”
We all turned to see what Ellie was talking about and sure enough there was a trail of blood leading up the steps. Then, without warning, Tess pushed pasted both Joel and me and grabbed Ellie by the arm, and began forcefully leading her up the stairs.
“Come on!” She said to the girl.
I turned to Joel to see if he had any clues about what just happened but he looked just as confused as I did. We both then followed after them. We were all shocked by what we found when we got inside. Everyone was dead. Tess looked panicked.
“I mean there’s gotta be like a fuckin’ radio or somethin’, right?” She asked as she began to frantically look around.
“Who killed them, FEDRA?” Ellie asked.
“No,” Joel began as he rolled the body closet to him over with his foot, “One of them got bitten. The healthy ones fought the sick ones. Everyone lost.”
I turned to see Tess still frantically looking around for something. “Tess, what’s going on?” “Where did Marlene say she was taking you?” She asked, ignoring my question and quickly approaching Ellie.
“I- I don’t know. Just west.”
“Just west.” She repeated to herself, “Fuck. Okay. Well, I mean, one of them’s gotta have a map on them right?”
Joel and I continued to watch her.
“Can you two help?” She snapped at us.
“No! Tess… it’s over.” Joel said.
“They wouldn’t risk having a map, Tess… I’m sorry.”
“Come on. We’re going home.” Joel said.
“That’s not my fucking home!” She yelled before taking a deep breath and standing back up, “I’m staying,” she said, much calmer, “I mean… our luck had to run out sooner or later.”
“Shit.” I whispered under my breath knowing what she meant.
“She infected.” Ellie said.
I watched Joel, wait to see how he would react.
“Show me.”
“Joel.” She went to take a step towards him only for him to take one back, away from her.
With a sigh, she grabbed the collar of her shirt and jacket and pulled it down revealing the infection at the junctor of her neck and collarbone. I covered my mouth and tried to breathe slowly as I felt a wave of emotions hit me. We may not have always gotten along the greatest but I’ve been around her for so long now that seeing her infected still made me sad knowing this would be the last time we saw her.
“Ellie take off your bandage.” She said.
The girl did as she was told and to my surprise, her bite was already almost completely healed. Tess walked over to Ellie and grabbed her arm to show Joel.
“This is real, Joel. She is real,” She then turned to me, “Promise you’ll get her to Bill and Franks.”
“I don’t know the way.” I said shaking my head.
“He’ll go with you. He would never let you go by yourself. He won’t have a choice but to go. So, please, promise me you’ll get her there. They’ll take her off your hands. They’ll handle it from there.”
I was nodding gas Joel kept saying “no” and arguing that they wouldn’t take her, but Tess was adamant that they would.
“Joel, this is your chance to set it all right. All the shit we did. Please say yes, Joel.” Tess pleaded.
I was watching with teary eyes, not crying yet, waiting for him to agree. But before he got the chance to say anything an infected screeched. I immediately pulled Ellie to stand behind me and brought my gun out and shot it. Joel still hadn’t answered. Instead, he ran towards the door. I was about to ask him what the hell he was doing but as soon as he opened it I heard the snarls of a hoard of infected coming our way. When I shot that one it must have woken all the others nearby.
“How many?” Tess asked.
“All of them.” “How long?” I asked.
“Maybe a minute.”
My heart dropped.
Everyone stood trying to think of something to do, knowing it was practically hopeless. Then, suddenly, Tess grabbed the rifle and walked over to one of the barrels. He knocked its cap off them and dumped its contents onto the floor. She did the same to two more. Then grabbed a basket of grenades and threw them down too.
“What are you doing?” Ellie asked.
“Making sure they don’t follow you.” Tess replied.
When I realized what she was going to do, my heart broke a little.
“Tess.” I began.
“Don’t. Don’t cry me. We never really got along anyways.” SHe joked half heartedly.
I laughed sadly and nodded.
“Hey, take care of them and save who you can save.” She said.
I nodded one last time before turning around.
“Hurry, let's go.” I said, grabbing Ellie’s arm.
“We can’t leave her!” She yelled.
“We have to!” I yelled back, following Joel out of the building.
We had made it less than a hundred yards when the explosion happened. We dropped to our knees for a brief second before standing back up and turning to face the building again. Joel and pulled out our guns, ready to shoot any infected that came our way. I could see them stumbling out of the building, on fire, but none came our way. When we decided we were as safe as we could be, we lowered our guns. I turned to Joel only to find him already staring back at me. Neither of us said a thing. There was nothing to be said. We just turned around and began walking away from the raging fire behind us.

2024 wrap-up, part 1
part two | part three | part four
[ABBA voice] here we go again, my my—
anyway, now that I've put that song in your head, let's look back at my year
writing
book stuff
as you may know, my second book, The Keeper of Lonely Spirits, releases in March 2025! so I spent much of this year editing, then editing some more, then line editing, then copy editing, then going over pass pages, then over more pass pages... the process never ends (until it's too late to make changes)
(artist: Xuan Loc Xuan)
if you find any typos in the final book come March, instead of being annoyed about them, you should recognize their determination and give them an award for MVT (most valuable typo) and a kiss on their lil typewritten forehead. because they made it not only through my own fifty six thousand rereads, but also through my agent, my editor, my copy editor, and my proofreader, and I think almost every single one of those people went through the book at least twice
anyway, The Keeper of Lonely Spirits is a cozy fantasy about an old man cursed with immortality who hunts ghosts rather than making mortal friends who will die one day. when the residents of an Ohio town beset by a vengeful spirit adopt him as their own, he must decide: leave to protect his heart, or stay to save their lives?

I also received my first ever trade reviews, one of which was a starred review from Library Journal! trade reviews can convince booksellers and libraries to purchase the book, especially if positive, especially if starred. they look good on a book's resume

short stories
because I was so busy with novel stuff, I only wrote one short story this year. part of one short story. back at the start of January.
you know what happened? I let it sit for a few days for reasons I no longer remember, and when I came back I couldn't remember quite where I was going with it a l a s
anyway it's a queer Cinderella-inspired short, and I'd love to magically figure out a direction for it afresh so I can finish it in 2025
in-progress stuff
...we still won't talk about how revising last year's cozy mystery is going, but in my defense (a) I've been on deadline for other things and (b) just nine chapters in I had already strayed so far from my scene list that I had to rethink the whole book, whoops
mostly, I've been working on the second book that this publisher bought, which has resulted in a very terrible first draft full of so many footnotes and brackets that I would almost call it a zero draft, except I can't bring myself to use that term*
(*for myself. y'all use it as much as you like, if you like it)
literally it was 79,000 words, 6,000 words of which were footnotes-to-self so as not to ruin my fancy WIP aesthetic (Blackadder and Perpetua ftw) with comments
anyway, then there was a marginally less terrible second draft, which is what my editor got (a respectable 98,000 words with zero footnotes and almost zero brackets)
THEN I was supposed to take a break and not think about the book again until my editor read it and got back to me...but instead I immediately wrote a brand new synopsis, sent it to her like "seriously you don't even have to read the version I already sent you bc it's gonna look so different," and then a couple weeks later whoops turned around started rewriting the whole story
which isn't going great bc I really DO need a break, I can TELL I need a break, but unfortunately when it comes to writing my brain is like "NO BREAK. ONLY WRITE >:[" which is Not Good. but I am trying to let myself casually poke at it instead of going hard and getting it done fast enough to send to my editor before she can even read the version she has lolol, so that's something
no-context spoilers for this WIP:
(tried finding the original post but could not, so screenshot from the internet it is)
that's it for part one! part two to follow is here! link to part two
