- Mikey definitely introduces you to Draken as his big sister. And Draken probably sees you as his big sister too, you guys probably do have cute moments.

Short Summary: Where Takemichi learns how intertwined the strings of fate can be and how easily they can be severed.

As Takemichi worked his way through each timeline, he knew two things to be true. Somehow, someway, someone was always fucking things up prompting him to continue leaping until he was able to fix everything. And two, despite never interacting with them, whispers of a certain girl were always present.

 For his first few leaps into both the past and future, he had only ever heard your name in passing conversations and seen you in photographs. His curiosity concerning you had begun while looking around the Sano house. Waiting for Mikey, Takemichi busied himself by creeping around his house. On the wall, framed photos lined the hallway, with smaller frames surrounding the late Shinchiro. Walking around, he took in each photo and found himself studying a warped photo slid into the front crack of a photo of Shinchiro. A girl in her late teens stood behind a younger Shinchiro, fingers pulling his forced grimace to a haphazard smile. She beamed at the camera, as the blushing and unconvincing Sano crossed his arms. Pulling it out to better study it, he found smudged ink on the back. Running his finger over the dried pink ink he read the message, wondering where you were and hoping you had had a better fate than Shinchiro. 

“Free auto body work for life” <3 (name)

Having all but forgotten you, he had heard your name again and felt compelled to know more. Emma had mentioned one night to Mikey about having seen you while out shopping. Despite trying his best to listen to the conversation between Yuzuha and Hina, his eyes shifted to the floor, while he strained to listen for any important information concerning you. Having no luck other than learning you were shopping for clothes and had asked Emma about their grandfather, he inched himself closer to Mikey. While uncomfortable for intruding, Takemichi abruptly inserted himself between Emma and Mikey prompting a look of confusion from both. “(Name)? Whose that?” Irritated, Emma crossed her arms staring at him while Mikey smiled and gave him perhaps the vaguest answer possible, likely, trying to shut down his prying. “Just an old family friend.”

Afraid of upsetting Emma any further he returned back to listen to Hina poking fun at Yuzuha. Smiling and agreeing to whatever Hina wanted him to agree to, Takemichi organized everything he knew about you in his head, which was nothing. He was curious, just who were you and where you perhaps a key in fixing this shitty timeline.

Naoto’s information surrounding you was bare and further digging suggested you lived a mundane life separate, unrelated to Toman. Still, who were you and why were people still discussing you?

 Setting you aside, he focused on learning more about the black dragons. Among the older delinquents, you were also intertwined in their story having grown up with them. If he were to learn more about you, it would be through them. 

While started by Shinchiro and having been disbanded for years, several members of the first generation of Black Dragons were still involved in gang related activities. Eager to prepare himself, he focused his time on learning more about the first generation members and their possible involvement in Mikey’s outcomes. Wakasa Imaushi stood out as he was not only one of the strongest delinquents of his time, but also the late Sano’s best friend. From Draken, he learned this and that he was still involved in the delinquent world.

 With nothing else of note, Takemichi began to investigate around him and found himself at a gym he supposedly ran with another past Black Dragon. The slamming of plates and grunts filled the room. As he entered, he found everyone occupied with their workouts while a group stood watching a pair of boxers sparring off to the side. He found himself breathing easier knowing that no one would likely pay him any attention. Not wanting to find himself face to face with any rival gang members, or worse, Wakasa himself, he kept himself busy mimicking others working out. As he worked, he scanned the room for any of the older delinquents. Damn no familiar faces. No one of note is here right now. Braver now and in need of water, he moved towards the locker room entrance and water fountain. As he neared the fountain, he spotted a hallway that hopefully held an office. Wiping his mouth, he inched towards one of the doors ajar. Peering in he felt his face flush.

 Engrossed in one another, he found Wakasa standing between the legs of a woman sitting upon his desk. He stood dumbfounded watching as she ran her hands through his hair as the two passionately kissed. Running his hands on the top of her thighs under her skirt, Wakasa turned his attention to her neck causing her to moan against his ear. Eager to get away, Takemichi took a step back kicking one of the delivery boxes lined against the wall behind him. Alarmed, the woman turned her attention to the door causing him to find himself face to face with her before running as fast as he could out of the gym. Out of fear of being stopped, he found himself running several blocks collapsing against a corner store wall. As he struggled to catch his breath, he rubbed his calves. Not only had he found Wakasa, but he had also found you. 

Not only were you a childhood friend of Shinchiro, but you were also with Wakasa who now stood with Mikey in the Kantou Manji gang. Through this, he found that while a consistent piece of the story, your involvement had no effect on Mikey. Rather from his time leaping back and forth, you were always alongside Wakasa. Sometimes as his girlfriend and in others as his wife. In one timeline, he had even watched from a distance as the two of you together swung a white haired toddler as you walked to the station unaware of his prying eyes. 

Takemichi felt stumped as he rattled his exhausted brain for an answer to his never ending torment. He needed to ensure that he could find a future where not only Hina was safe, but one where Mikey never succumbs to his darkness. He had hoped that you would be some sort of key and make his life easier, but no. You were just a girl Shinchiro knew and the girl that Wakasa would be with in every timeline. Standing up from the bench he sighed, stuffing his pockets into his hands. He would need to try again.

He had finally done it. Seated next to Hina at their wedding party, Takemichi found himself overcome with happiness. Not only had he managed to keep everyone safe, but he had been able to marry the love of his life. Watching his friends make fools of themselves on the dance floor he held Hina’s hand rubbing his finger over her wedding band. He was finally done. Fixing everything was more difficult than he had anticipated, but had eventually revealed itself to be saving Shinichiro. His death had started this nightmare but also was the way out of this time loop. Shinchiro sat at a table with both you, Emma, and Wakasa. On your lap was a miniature carbon copy of you in the form of a little flower girl. He watched as you took your daughter out to dance with Emma. Laughing at your cute display, Hina smiled. 

“It’s amazing how much she resembles her aunty Emma.”

Feeling his blood run cold, Takemichi swirled his head to Hina.

“What do you mean, her aunty Emma?”

A bit taken aback, Hina slapped her hand onto his forehead, feeling his temperature.

“Are you okay right now, or is it just everything from the wedding?” Hina laughed as she brought her hand down to wipe frosting off the corner of his mouth. 

“ That’s Shinchiro and (name)’s daughter. Emma is his sister, so she’s her aunt.” She stated confused handing him a bottle of water. 

Opening it and taking a long drink, he used his suit sleeve to wipe off some of the droplets running down his chin. 

“What about Wakasa?”

“Wakasa? Why are you so worried about him? He's over there talking with Shinchiro.” 

“No. No. I thought he was with (name).” Takemichi felt his head pound from both the alcohol he had overconsumed and this new revelation.

“No you got it all wrong. She has been with Shin forever.” Hina huffed dabbing his wet face with a clean cloth. He sat still watching as Shinchiro cut between you and Emma to dance with his daughter.

“Emma told us a while ago that she remembers feeling that maybe just maybe Wakasa was in love with (name) when they were younger but that’s it. Just a little childhood crush. From what I hear now, he is happy, he’s still single, and dating around.” Standing up Hina brushed her dress. “Worry not, I have plenty of single cousins here who would love to dance with him.”

“Make sure you drink your water and grab something to eat, okay? I have to go touch up before any more photos.”

Now alone Takemichi watched as you and Shinchiro danced with your little girl. Long gone was your and Wakasa’s little boy. The little boy the two of you oh so loved but would never meet. The countless lives, hours, minutes, and love you shared with Wakasa were nonexistent. A hole carved itself into Takemichi’s stomach as he came to terms with the life you had with Wakasa being a casualty in his attempt to fix the timeline. He could never have imagined Shinchiro’s presence altering something he knew to be true in every other reality. 

 Inseparable in every other timeline, he found it strange to watch you apart from Wakasa. Perhaps the only thing linking the two of you was the grief of losing Shinchiro. It would all be okay. If anything, the two of you wouldn’t miss one another or the time you spent together. How could you if finding comfort in one another was the only reason you clung to each other so tightly again and again. 

However, as he turned towards the man at the lonely table, he couldn’t help but feel horrible. The sight of the love stricken man was one he knew all too well. Wakasa sat right at the spot you had left him watching you sway with your daughter standing on your feet. Nursing a beer, he sat still watching you with a stoic expression betraying what his eyes were screaming. Feeling his gaze, Takemichi watched you look up at him laughing and smiling. Wakasa’s cold demeanor instantly melted as he chuckled and sent you two a wave which your toothy carbon copy returned with enthusiasm and both hands. Two arms then wrapped around you and your daughter pulling you into an embrace. Wakasa stared at the three of you longingly before dropping his gaze to the dirty table cloth. Finishing his drink, he opened another beer and left the table. From the corner of his eye, Takemichi felt you glance back a little disappointed at the empty spot where the panther had sat. He had hoped that maybe the only factor in the two of you being together was grief. But as he watched the defeated man trudge outside alone he prayed for forgiveness.

Having been the cause of his unhappiness, he couldn’t help but feel bad. He had fixed everything at the cost of Wakasa’s life with you. Was this selfish of him? How could he have know that the one timeline where both brothers lived could have such an effect?  However, when he felt Hina grab his hand and pull him towards the dance floor, he felt his worries melt away. As he slow danced with Hina, he hoped that maybe, just maybe. Wakasa having you in every other life would somehow make up for losing you in this one.

Meddling Friends (Kids) (Flufftober 2023 Day 7)

Summary: shinichiro is lonely so emma, mikey, and izana take matters into their own hands

Note: idk how dating apps work but this idea was just too cute to pass up

“How tall is he?” Emma asked as she, Mikey, and Izana stared at the bio page of the dating app they downloaded on their older brother Shinichiro’s phone. They were currently huddled on the couch as they discussed it seriously.

“Like, six feet,” Mikey responded.

Emma hummed thoughtfully before typing, “I’ll put six foot two.”

“But that’s lying,” Izana argued.

“It’s for Shin’s sake,” Emma defended, “Now I need some interests, uh…”

“Motorcycles,” The three teenagers said at the same time and Emma diligently typed it out. Then she sat back thoughtfully, “Is that really all he has going for him?”

“Pretty much,” Mikey shrugged.

Emma shook her head, “We’ve gotta come up with something else… How about ‘I like to take long walks in the park and enjoy nature’ or something like that?”

“But that’d be even more lying,” Izana sighed.

“Do you want him to get a girlfriend or not?” Emma snapped, “This is Shin’s only hope, so we have to make him look good.”

“Put ‘loves kids’, some ladies like that stuff,” Mikey added, “And it’s true.”

Emma agreed and put it down, “Now all we need are some pictures.”

She went through his selfies and found the best photos of their older brother and added them to the profile. Then she smiled in satisfaction as she hit the finish button.

“Alright, it’s done!”

“What’s done?” Shinichiro’s voice sounded from the doorway causing the three siblings to jump in fright.

Emma was the first to recover as she proudly held out the phone, “Your dating profile!”

“I’ve been looking everywhere for this thing,” Shinichiro said as he took the phone back, then his sister’s words registered, “Wait, what dating profile?”

He looked down and his eyes widened at the sight of the dating app that hadn’t been there before.

“We took the liberty of making you one,” Izana explained, “You’re welcome.”

“Well I’m deleting it,” Shinichiro replied.

“No!” Emma tried to take the cell back, but he held it high in the air out of her reach. Mikey had the perfect solution and jumped on his older brother’s back, wrestling him to the floor as it became an all-out brawl for the phone. Just then his cell dinged with a notification, causing everyone to perk up.

Emma gasped excitedly, “Someone’s interested!”

“Really?” Shinichiro couldn’t keep the delight out of his tone as he sat up and looked back down at the device. He clicked on the notification and the dating app showed your bright smiling face. He made a noise, sounding impressed.

“She’s cute,” Mikey commented, peeking over his shoulder to see your picture.

Emma quickly scanned your bio and gasped again, “She sounds perfect for you!”

“You think?” Shinichiro found himself asking as he also looked over your information. “Well what do I do?”

“I think you swipe to match,” Izana explained, taking the phone and doing just that. Then he handed it back and continued, “Then you just message her.”

“Message her?” Shinichiro repeated in surprise, “What would I even say?”

“Well most people start with a hello,” Izana said like it was obvious.

“No! Do a joke! Show her you’re funny!” Emma advised.

“Is he though?” Mikey questioned blankly.

“I can be funny,” Shinichiro argued, furrowing his brows.

Before he could think of something to say, you sent the first message. 

“Is that her? What’d she say?” Emma asked.

“She said ‘hey’ with a smiley face,” Shinichiro answered, “Quick what do I say?”

“Just say it back,” Mikey shrugged, “Come on, you’ve held a conversation before.”

Ignoring that last part, Shinichiro did just that and soon you were replying.

That was the start of many messages shared between you and Shin. You two seemed to hit it off really well and had quite a bit in common. He found your mannerisms endearing and just genuinely enjoyed talking to you.

However, after about a month, Shinichiro still had yet to ask you on a date, the whole reason why the younger Sano siblings downloaded the app in the first place. Which is exactly what led them to take matters into their own hands once more.

“Have you guys seen my phone?” Shinichiro asked one day as he walked into the living room only to see Emma, Mikey, and Izana huddled around it again. “What are you doing?”

“Talking to (Y/n),” Emma replied nonchalantly, being the one actually holding the device.

“What?! With my phone? Did you at least tell her it was you?”

“No,” Mikey answered bluntly, and before Shinichiro could get his phone back, the phone dinged with a message.

Emma read it first and squealed excitedly, “She said yes!”

Shinichiro was lost, “Yes? Yes to what?”

Emma simply handed his phone over to her older brother with a smug smile on her face. “You have a date tomorrow!”

“You didn’t,” Shinichiro sounded breathless as he snatched the phone out of her hands. His heart was pounding in his chest as he looked over the messages of them asking you out by pretending to be him and you enthusiastically agreeing.

“It’s at the zoo at ten o’clock tomorrow morning,” Izana explained.

“You’re welcome,” Mikey added.

Shinichiro didn’t know what to do or say. It’s not like he could cancel the date because he didn’t want to seem like he wasn’t interested- he was very interested. He was just surprised you said yes.

So Shinichiro sucked it up and decided that he would make it the best date ever.

The next morning you both met up at the train station and made your way to the zoo. You were wearing a cute outfit and Shinichiro just put on a pair of nice jeans with a crisp white shirt that Emma insisted he ironed.

The date was going a lot smoother than Shinichiro thought it would go, much to his relief. You both laughed and joked as you went around to see the animals. There was even a point where you took the initiative and started holding his hand.

Finally, you suggested stopping somewhere for lunch which he agreed. You found a nice little restaurant and were currently waiting for your food.

“So is there a reason we’re being tailed by three kids wearing sunglasses, all pretending to read a newspaper?” You asked lowly out of nowhere, startling him.

Shinichiro furrowed his brows and you subtly nodded your head to the side, gesturing to a table not too far away. And sure enough, when he looked over he saw Mikey, Emma, and Izana sitting at the table, peeking over a big newspaper while wearing sunglasses. When they noticed they had been caught, they quickly ducked their heads behind the paper.

“They stick out like a sore thumb,” Shinichiro felt a wave of irritation as his eye twitched. They really don’t trust him to do anything, huh?

“I take it you know them?” You asked as you took a sip of your drink.

“Those are my siblings I was telling you about,” He replied with a huff.

“The ones that made your profile?” You tipped your lips up into a teasing smile, “And asked me out for you?”

Shinichiro buried his face in his hands and groaned, “Yes.”

You started giggling despite his distress.

“It’s not funny,” He whined, peeking at you through his fingers which made you laugh harder.

“It’s hilarious,” You responded, then when you gained some semblance of control, you grinned at him, “And actually really sweet. It just shows that they care about you.”

At this, Shinichiro lowered his hands, “You’re not weirded out?”

“Nah,” You shook your head, then you shrugged, “Do you wanna invite them to join us?”

“But what about our date?” He questioned.

“Do you want to spend the rest of our date being watched like zoo animals?” You countered, “Come on, it’ll be a nice bonding experience.”

Shinichiro felt a soft smile grow on his face, “You’re so cool.”

“I know,” You said sweetly.

And so you and Shinichiro invited the three teens to join you. They didn’t seem the slightest bit guilty for crashing your date as they immediately started asking you all sorts of questions to get to know you better. Shinichiro watched in fascination and adoration as you clicked with his siblings without hesitation.

They suggested going to the aquarium which was nearby and you walked with Shinichiro, holding his hand and laughing as Emma, Mikey, and Izana started pointing out fishes that they claimed looked like their older brother. Despite all the teasing, Shinichiro felt so grateful towards his younger siblings for meddling in his love life and leading him right to you.

peace and calm

felt like writing for shinichiro again

It was one of those late October days when the colours flare up once more before they finally fade away - one of those days when you think you can feel a last memory of summer, even though sweaters and corduroy pants have long since populated the streets.

Far from all turbulences of the city, at the shore, the wind was rougher. Invisible fingers pulling at the strands of your hair, ruining every attempt to keep your [frisur] in check. In a calm rhythm wave clashed against land, always taking something with them into the broad sea. Occasionally a car passed by, but none of them would ever stop in a secluded place like this. The idyllic peace was never interrupted so you were alone with the rush of the sea in your ears, the prickled of the last sunrays of the day on your skin and your thoughts in your mind.    

You were used to this, willingly allowed you to be surrounded by peacefulness and nothing alike. What you were not used to was the faint smell of cigarettes which tickled your nose, a sensation unfitting for this setting. Drawn by curiosity your head turned to the side, away from the scenery towards a young boy. Not much further away leaned his frame against his bike. Contrary to the never resting waves and the moving leaves he stood tall and proud, his eyes closed.

Another lone soul seeking for a moment of quiet peace, you figured. This place was your favorite spot but not once did you spot other people. What brought him here? You wondered.

Suddenly he opened his eyes and his black orbs met yours. Abashed your head whipped to the side too fast. Your gaze starred holes into the ocean in a weakly attempt to hide that you had been starring a bit too long.  

“It’s nice here, right?”, a deep voice startled you and made you jump. You heard him chuckle and a breathy “sorry” was heard as he sat down next to you. A polite distance between you. His cigarette fell to the ground and with enough pressure from his foot the little glimmer died. When did he went over to you?

When he opened his mouth to speak you were about to interrupt him, tried to keep the silence for a moment longer but with his first words his voice lured you away from your thoughts and put you on a journey to the unknown.

At the start your mind didn't register his words, instead fell your gaze onto his features. Brighter than the sun was his sheepish smile, his eyes were darker than the night, but it wasn’t uncomfortable or scary. With the sun going down he talked you through the night into a world lit up by moon and stars and for the first time, you thought, you understood what the words peace and calm truly meant.
