someday there might be a production of trovatore that gets the camp scene right. by which i mean a production with a director that puts together di luna's lack of interest in the backstory, ferrando apparently having FOUND the backstory, and azucena being the reason that the backstory happened. and consequently allows the camp scene (from when azucena shows up and ferrando starts getting Suspicions to the end) to basically be Ferrando Is Now Running The Show And He Is Terrifyingly Nasty About It.

and that's not even getting into the ramifications the concept of soulmates actually having verifiable evidence would have on society as a whole. what does being a soulmate even mean? have scientists looked into what causes the marks, ramifications of removing/covering them, the actual difference in relationship success between soulmates and non-soulmates? does society treat soulmate couples as more legitimate than non-soulmates? is this treated as superstition or an accepted force of nature by most people? do apps like tinder exist where people advertise their marks and how they introduce themselves in the hopes of finding the person who matches their call/response? would someone who uses ASL still create a mark on their soulmate and what would that look like? does it count if someone says it over the phone, text, internet? how is the entire romance genre affected by the existence of soulmate marks- do NON soulmate AUs exist in that world where people romanticise the idea of being free to discover your love without the pressure of fate?

Hear me out, Qcell is a unicorn that uses dark magic like trixie did once, except he's fucked up in the head and does not get as affected/corrupted as sane pony's do. Mickey James III probably tried lots of hobbies when he was a kid but not for fun. He tried them because he thought maybe if he was good at a lot of things other than hockey maybe his dad will come visit sooner. He tried countless hobbies that helped with things that in his mind translated to hockey as well. He only really ever stuck with painting once he finally gave up because he realized his dad wasn't coming back for him. The Vinters however kept all those paintings and have his favorites hung up in their house. And whenever people ask about the paintings they always say "yeah our son painted them ." Because even though he may not be blood to them he's still family.
