EDGAR ALLEN POE IS ACTUALLY GOD IN BUNGO STRAY DOGS

Ok ok absolute crack of a theory while I’m still madly rambling but I hate how well this works out

Considering this is a story largely focused on detectives which implies a mystery element and considering the fact there’s been several murder mysteries within the storyline, what if the entirety of BSD exists within one of Poe’s novels and they have yet to solve the biggest mystery- the mystery of the book itself.

Poe is already known to make larger worlds out of his simpler mysteries, like when he challenged Ranpo in his introduction episode. He designed a complex Sci-fi world that would not be seen by any ordinary person. It would just seem like a simple locked room mystery

He wants to create a mystery no one can solve, that much is proved by his six years of trying to come up with a novel that could outwit Ranpo. What if, in his quest to write this ultimate mystery, he wrote Bungo Stray Dogs and created this entire universe. Perhaps he brought in people from around him or perhaps he just entered himself to see if writing a character to be the ‘ultimate detective’ would give someone the ability to truly defeat him.

This would track with the existing lore of the book as well. From what we’ve seen, Poe’s novels, as long as they can be read, can be entered. So what if the novel’s plot itself was altered with people still inside? It wouldn’t matter if a page of the original book is missing as long as the entire book still reads like a story.

Perhaps Poe wrote the book into the world to exist as a failsafe in case he ever wants to leave. Or perhaps he wanted to see what would happen if he gave others access to the power to write their own stories

This entire story is just one big experiment to see what happens if you don’t bother solving the mystery yourself and let the characters figure it out themselves

This would also explain his fascination with Ranpo outside of the fact he’s the guy who solves mysteries really fast. Poe literally writing Ranpo into existence to be the anti-Poe would help explain why he’s such a fanboy for his greatest rival. It’s really the feeling of ‘oh my god look at my OC go, he’s doing things! He’s fighting me!!’

That also works surprisingly well considering irl Ranpo chose that pen name based on Edgar Allan Poe

This all being said, I highly doubt this crack theory is true. I just find it so suspicious that there is a man with the ability to write worlds into existence through his books when the entire reason this story exists is because of a book that you can use to write things into existence

Redemption

Part 1 (out of 3)

A story where it is shown that Misako has always only had an eye for Garmadon.

"Garmadon?" Misako asked when she woke up.

Sensei Garmadon was once again not in bed, and it was the middle of the night.

Misako already knew what was coming, so she got up to look for him. She found him sitting at a table in one of the various rooms of the monastery.

He was in his pajamas, and as always, he had his head in his hands.

"Garmadon?" Misako softly asked. He had already had moments like this; thankfully, they had happened less often as time passed.

"Garmadon, let's go to bed," Misako gently spoke, wrapping her arms around Sensei Garmadon's shoulders.

"You should go without me," Sensei Garmadon said tiredly. His eyes were very red, as if he had been crying.

"What’s wrong, sweetheart?" Misako gently asked, trying to touch his face, but he gently pushed her hand away.

"You shouldn't." Sensei Garmadon said sadly. "Not after everything..."

"Garmadon." Misako sighed and sat beside him. "If you could influence what happened, I would be the first one to kill you."

"That doesn't change the fact that I have hurt you all so many times..." Sensei Garmadon sighed.

"You didn’t mean to..." Misako began, but Sensei Garmadon interrupted her.

"There's a chance that you could be happy without me... Wu would definitely be a better father and husband than me..."

"Garmadon, stop talking nonsense!" Misako interrupted him. "Maybe, but certainly not to me and Lloyd."

"You know Wu loves you..."

"When we were younger, yes."

"Do you know that he still loves you?" Sensei Garmadon asked, and silence fell. Misako was taken aback.

"How... How do you know?"

"I see it..." Sensei Garmadon said hesitantly. "He loves you as I do, but he is not cruel..."

"You know that I love only you." Misako said, placing her hand on his shoulder.

"If I didn’t, I would have never come back or married you. I know I must be confusing, but I truly love only you."

"I'm just curious.. " Garmadon asked and put a hand on Misako’s hann on his shoulder. "Did you ever love him?"

"I told you that you are the only one I have ever loved," Misako said somewhat angrily.

What else did she have to do or say to that man for him to know he deserved to be loved?

"Were you interested in him, like back in the past?" Sensei Garmadon quietly asked, and silence fell again.

Misako remembered...

~~~Before Serpentine war~~~

"And where are you going?" Maya asked Misako.

"To the monastery, yes..." Misako began, but Maya interrupted her.

"Don’t you go to the monastery a little too often?"

"Um, I... um..." Misako thought about what to say.

"Oh come on, just say it, is it Wu or Garmadon?" Maya playfully asked. "Or maybe both?"

"Oh, come on!" Misako angrily pushed Maya away. "It’s not Wu. You know he’s my friend, and I would never be with him. What about him? He’s not my type at all!"

"But you didn’t say no to Garmadon?" Maya raised an eyebrow. "He’s a bit too much your type."

"Okay, okay!" Misako flushed and closed the door behind her. "Let me in, and I’ll tell you everything..."

~~~Stone Army episode~~~

'I should have chosen you.'

Those were the words that still echoed in Misako’s head. Where was her mind? Who knows what Wu will think of her now...

What will Lloyd think? The son she had just seen after so many years... He barely accepted her.

"Pull yourself together." Misako ordered herself. "I have to admit everything."

"Admit what?" Wu entered the room and looked at Misako.

Why was he looking at her so strangely? Was it possible that he still loved her?

No, that was something from their youth...

"Wu, I need to tell you something." Misako said, taking a deep breath.

"Are you alright, Misako?" Wu asked her and tried to take her hand, but she pulled away.

"You know what I told you earlier? That I should have chosen you..."

Wu's jaw clenched.He nodded.

Of course, he remembered that well...

"I didn’t mean it that way." Misako blurted out. "I really didn’t..."

"Please..." Wu momentarily looked at her disappointedly, but then he returned to normal.

"Are you okay?" He asked her again. And Misako felt that this time it was as a friend.

"I was mad at Garmadon..." Misako sighed. "So I said that even though I didn’t mean it. I love Garmadon... I love you too, but in a different way. I love you as a friend, a brother, Wu..."

Wu was silent for a moment and then took her hand. "I understand." He smiled. "I’ll help you get your family back... with Lloyd, especially.

Although you know my feelings for you do not change. Although maybe it's better if you don’t feel the same..."

Misako looked up to meet his gaze... For a moment, she wanted to love him truly; things would have been different... But she couldn’t.

For better or worse, her heart and her happiness belonged to Garmadon forever. And Lloyd...

"Thank you, Wu." Misako said and smiled at him. "For everything. For taking care of Lloyd... You’re a wonderful friend."

"We are family." Wu reminded her. "Aren’t we, sister-in-law?"

~~~Back in present~~~

"No!" Misako replied firmly. "Even though I said some things that I shouldn’t have..."

"Like what?" Sensei Garmadon gently asked. Misako lowered her head and averted her gaze.

"You can tell me anything, Misako." Sensei Garmadon said and gently held her chin.

"You know you can tell me everything, Koko, I won’t be angry."

Misako lifted her gaze.

He smiled at her.

"Then when I met Wu, Lloyd, and the ninjas at the museum... that day I told him I should have chosen him." Misako remorsefully said.

Now that she said this in front of Garmadon, it sounded so silly that she wanted to cry.

"I understand." Sensei Garmadon gently said and took her hand. "After everything... I would probably say something similar to someone."

"You know I didn’t mean it." Misako said, feeling guilty. "Never. I have always had eyes only for you..."

"I know." Sensei Garmadon told her softly and kissed her hand.

"I missed you." Misako said after a long pause. "So much..."

"I know." Sensei Garmadon said and pulled her to sit on his lap. "I missed you too... every day." "

Don't do that to us anymore, okay?" Misako smiled at him and touched his face.

"What if I promise that from now on we’ll be together forever? And that I will never stop loving you?"

"Do you promise?"

"No, I swear on my life." Misako smiled wider at this.

"Then I promise you that I will never love anyone else as I have loved you." Saying this, she pressed her lips against his.

~~~After S4~~~

"Misako?" Wu asked confusedly when he saw Misako standing in Garmadon’s monastery. "Are you alright?"

"I just came to get some things." Misako said and sighed.

Two months passed since Garmadon sacrificed himself to save Ninjago.

A month had passed since she and Lloyd moved to live with the ninjas and Wu. It made no sense to be here without Garmadon.

"In the last few days, you often come here and leave empty-handed." Wu said worriedly, looking at a picture on the shelf.

"I miss him," Misako said and sat down. "Too much. I thought it would be easier this time because he had gone before... But it’s just harder..."

She felt tears sliding down her cheeks. Wu knelt beside her and gently wiped her tears.

Just like Garmadon used to.

"About that letter..."

"Oh come on, Wu, stop!" Misako shouted and pushed him away from her. "We haven’t even stopped wearing black because of Garmadon’s death! You know I never loved you and I won’t."

Wu stepped back and bit his lip.

She felt bad about it. But Wu could always apologize. He was alive, unlike her husband.

"I just wanted to apologize to you for acting so childishly. When I couldn’t to my brother..." Wu said cautiously.

"Forgive me..." Misako said and burst into another wave of tears.

Wu embraced her and let her bury her head into his chest.

"I was angry too... Just because it’s a disgusting act. I hate myself for letting him die thinking that I would love him less if he had shown me that he didn’t write it..."

Misako said and sobbed.

"You’ve held things inside for too long." Wu gently told her. "You can tell me everything. I have always been your friend. And I’m sure Garmadon would be happy that I’m watching over you."

"I know it’s selfish, but I should have thrown him off the ship the moment he mentioned sacrificing. And he promised me we would be together forever."

Misako said as she calmed down a bit. "I’d rather live with him in some foreign land than without him in free Ninjago."

"He saved many people." Wu said. "He died like a hero."

"I know.I always knew that he is nobel and brave." Misako said and looked off into the distance thoughtfully.

"If only I could have told him that I love him forever, before... before."

"He knew that." Wu assured her. "In the end, I saw it in his eyes."

Wu wanted to kiss her on the lips so badly that he could hardly contain himself even though he shouldn’t.

But instead, he settled for a brotherly kiss on her forehead.

"Maybe I don’t love you romantically. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love you." Misako smiled at him.

"You have always been my dearest friend. After Garmadon and Lloyd, you’re closest to my heart."

"We will both get through this together, sister-in-law." Wu said and took her hand. "We were the best friends, and we will remain so. We both grieve for the same person..."
