SEVENTEEN reaction to their S/O being embarrassed over a compliment
S.Coups 🍒
"You look really cute today." S.Coups watches you immediately blush and start fidgeting with your hands, clearly flustered. He smiles softly, enjoying the sight. "Aww, why are you getting shy? It's true!" He leans in, brushing your hair out of your face, and teasingly adds, "You're always cute, though."
Jeonghan 😇
When you get all bashful after his compliment, Jeonghan can't help but chuckle. "You're too cute when you're shy." He reaches over to gently ruffle your hair, then gives you a playful wink. "Don't hide your face. You know I think you're gorgeous, right?" He loves teasing you a little, but you can tell there's affection behind his words.
Joshua 🐰
Joshua is quick to notice you looking down after his compliment. e lightly nudges you and says, "You're so cute when you blush." His voice is soft, making you know he's sincere. He takes your hand in his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. He gives you an encouraging smile, hoping to make you feel more comfortable.
Jun đŸ±
Jun sees you flustered and instantly brusts into a playful laugh. "Are you seriously blushing? I can't believe I'm making you so shy!" He teases you, but it's all in good fun. "You should get used to compliments, you're going to hear a lot more from me!" He leans in close and embrace you into a hug.
Hoshi 🐯
Hoshi absolutely LOVES seeing you flustered. He can't stop smiling as he watches you turn a deep shade of red. "You're so adorable!" He jokes, "I think I need to compliment you more often just to see that face!" He then dramatically places his hand over his heart like he's in a movie. "But seriously, I can't stop telling you how beautiful you are!" He might even take a little victory dance after seeing you so embarrassed.
Wonwoo 🩊
Wonwoo notices immediately when you start blushing after his compliment, and he gives you this soft, knowing smile. He's not one to express his feelings loudly, but when he sees you shy away, he gets a little more affectionate. "You're cute when you get all flustered," he says, his voice low and calming. He reaches over to gently tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, his fingers grazing your skin softly. "You know I mean it, right? You're always beautiful." He might not show it much, but he’s always sincere, and the way his eyes look at you when he says it makes your heart skip a beat.
Woozi 🍚
Woozi isn't the type to make a huge deal out of compliments, but seeing you blush is enough to make him smile a little more than usual. "Why are you getting all shy?" he asks, his tone soft but teasing. He pulls you closer, his hand resting gently on your shoulder. "You know I mean it, right? You look great." He doesn't usually show it, but he's definitely a little proud of himself for making you flustered.
DK 🍕
DK just can't stop laughing when he sees you blush. He's so charming, his smile is contagious, and the more embarrassed you get, the more he wants to shower you with compliments. "I didn't know I had this effect on you!" He says with a wink. "But you’re beautiful. I’ll never stop saying it." You can’t help but laugh at how energetic he gets, and his genuine affection for you is impossible to deny.
Mingyu đŸ¶
Mingyu might act all smooth at first with his compliment, but when he sees you start blushing, he instantly gets more playful. "I can’t believe I made you shy like that. I thought you'd be used to it by now." He teases, nudging you in the side with his elbow. Then, he gets all serious, looking at you with soft eyes. "You're beautiful. Always." He leans in to give you a quick kiss on the cheek, and his smile is more genuine than ever.
The8 🐾
Minghao notices the way you shy away from his compliment, and he immediately finds it adorable. "You're so cute when you're embarrassed," he says with a gentle laugh. He takes your hand, his thumb rubbing over your skin as he looks at you lovingly. "You deserve all the compliments in the world. Don’t hide from them." He adds, a soft smile on his face as he leans in for a quick kiss.
Seungkwan 🍊
Seungkwan is in full 'protective friend' mode as soon as he sees you getting embarrassed. "Why are you blushing? You should be used to these compliments by now!" He gently teases you. "I'm not just saying it because I’m nice, you really do look amazing." He adds, making sure you feel reassured. He even says, "Next time, just smile and say 'thank you,' okay?"
Vernon 🐱
Vernon tries to stay cool and casual with his compliments, but when he sees you turning red, he can't hold back a teasing grin. "You look adorable right now." He chuckles. "I thought I was the shy one, but look at you!" He leans in to whisper in your ear, "It's okay, you don't have to be embarrassed. You're perfect."
Dino 🩖
Dino is all giggles when you start blushing. He's all sweet and innocent, not realizing how much he's affecting you with his compliments. "Why are you acting shy? I'm just telling the truth!" He laughs and nudges you, then gives you a big, cheesy grin. "You should hear it more often. You’re so pretty." And he's not even joking—he thinks you’re perfect, and he loves to make you smile.

Ahhh so many thoughts so I'm gonna utilize the read more function
“Oh, absolutely,” Bradley replied, his voice laced with mock encouragement. “She’s single. And you’re you, right? What could possibly go wrong?” He tipped his glass, hiding the grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. Jake chuckled, straightening his shoulders and adjusting his stance like he was walking into battle. “You’re not wrong, Rooster. I’m irresistible.” He set his beer on the counter and took a deep breath, the picture of confidence. “Wish me luck.” Bradley raised his glass in a silent toast. “Oh, you’re gonna need it,” he muttered under his breath, watching as Jake strode across the bar like a man on a mission.
Ahahah not Bradley trying to get Jake into hot water on purpose 😅
Maverick smirked, clearly enjoying the show, but didn’t say a word. Penny raised an eyebrow at Maverick, who simply shrugged, leaving you to handle the situation.
Everyone is just enjoying the show đŸ€
Before Jake could respond, Maverick spoke up, his voice casual but carrying just enough weight to make Jake pause. “Hangman, you do know who her father is, right?” Jake’s grin didn’t falter—much. “No,” he said confidently. “Should I?”
If Maverick ask like that, you probably should 😅
“Dead serious.” Jake started toward you again, then stopped to look back at Bradley, his smirk now full-blown. Bradley shook his head, half in disbelief and half in amusement. “This is going to end so badly, and I can’t wait to see it.”
Bradley is ready to get the popcorn 😂
“Not even a little,” you shot back, though the corner of your mouth twitched like you were fighting a smile. Jake chuckled, undeterred. “Good. Wouldn’t be worth it if it were easy.”
He likes a challenge
You finally looked at him, your eyes narrowing. “If you already knew that, why are you still here?” Jake shrugged, his gaze unwavering. “Because you’re gorgeous, and I don’t scare off that easily. Besides,” he added with a wink, “I like a good challenge.”
Called it đŸ€
Jake picked up his beer, taking a long sip. “She’s just playing hard to get.” Bradley snorted. “She’s not playing, man. She’s actually hard to get.”
Haha Bradley (trying) to get Jake back on the ground is just hilarious 😂
Jake glanced over his shoulder at you, catching the way you smiled at something Maverick said. A genuine, soft smile, not the guarded one you’d given him. His smirk softened just a fraction as he turned back to Bradley.
👀
You tilted your head, studying him. “Distract me, huh? And what makes you think you’re qualified for the job?” Jake smirked, leaning forward slightly. “Because, darlin’, distraction is what I do best."
I love their bickering đŸ€
“My name’s not sweetheart. And why should I?” you shot back, arching an eyebrow. “You seem to like the chase.” Jake chuckled, holding your gaze. “Maybe I do. But it’s not just the chase that’s got me sticking around.” You blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in his tone. For a moment, you didn’t know how to respond.
Their back and forth is just such a good match, that either of them being caught off guard is even more confusing đŸ€
You sighed, glancing down at your drink. “He’s
persistent.” “That he is,” Penny agreed, leaning against the bar. “But he’s also not as one-dimensional as he might seem.” You raised an eyebrow. “Meaning what? That he’s not just some cocky pilot who thinks he’s God’s gift to women? Cause that’s what everyone around here is saying.” Penny chuckled. “Oh, he’s definitely cocky. But there’s more to him. He’s loyal, sharp as a tack, and surprisingly thoughtful when he wants to be.”
Penny being an advocate for Jake? I didn't see that coming
You couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped you. “Okay, Jake. You’ve got my attention. Now what?” His grin softened into something more genuine. “Now I get to know you.”
Why is that so cute?! đŸ„°
He paused for a moment, as if considering his options. Then he asked, “What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t gotten the chance to yet?” The question caught you off guard. It wasn’t what you’d expected—not some flirty remark or shallow small talk, but an actual question. Thoughtful. Genuine.
Me, taking notes for my next date 📝
You rolled your eyes, but there was no real heat behind it. “You were doing so well. Why ruin it?” He laughed, leaning back in his chair. “Just being honest.”
Urgh who knew Jake had it in him đŸ„°
I absolutely loved this! đŸ‘đŸ»đŸ˜ Please tag me, if you ever decide to write a part 2 đŸ«¶đŸ»

Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x AFAB Reader
Summary: At The Hard Deck Jake Seresin spots a stunning woman who he has no business getting involved with. But he doesn’t know that yet. When he figures out her father is an admiral, his interest only deepens. But she’s not as easily impressed as Jake may have hoped. Will he win her over? Or will the chase be more than he bargained for?
Warnings: I don't think there are any :)

Also tagging @djs8891 @khouse712 @withahappyrefrain @86laura11 because it seemed like you may have been interested based on the Ask on McKenzie's page! (If you'd like to not be tagged just let me know!)
The Hard Deck was filled with its usual noise, a mix of laughter, clinking glasses, and the soft background music coming from the jukebox. Jake Seresin leaned against the far back wall, beer in hand, casually scanning the room figuring out who he wanted to spend his evening talking to.
His gaze stopped when he caught sight of a woman talking to Maverick and Penny near the corner of the bar. She was laughing, her smile lighting up the space, and Jake’s interest was instantly piqued.
“Hey, Bradshaw,” Jake nudged Bradley. “Who’s that?” He tilted his head toward the girl.
Bradley glanced over his shoulder, following Jake’s line of sight. When he spotted you, a knowing grin spread across his face. “Oh, her?” he said, his voice carefully casual.
“Yeah, her.” Jake’s tone was dripping with curiosity—and something more. “She’s gorgeous. You know her?”
Bradley turned fully toward Jake now, feigning thoughtfulness. “Actually, I do. She’s real sweet.” He paused for effect, letting the words sink in before adding with just enough sincerity to be dangerous, “I think you should go talk to her.”
Jake raised an eyebrow, clearly weighing the risks. “You serious?”
“Wish me luck.”
Bradley raised his glass in a silent toast. “Oh, you’re gonna need it,” he muttered under his breath, watching as Jake strode across the bar like a man on a mission.
As Jake approached, you looked up and met his eyes, your smile widening slightly. Maverick and Penny exchanged a glance, their conversation stalling as they noticed the incoming pilot.
“Hey,” Jake started, his southern drawl turned up to full charm mode. “I don’t mean to interrupt, but I couldn’t help noticing you from across the room. I’m Jake.”
Maverick smirked, clearly enjoying the show, but didn’t say a word. Penny raised an eyebrow at Maverick, who simply shrugged, leaving you to handle the situation.
“Nice to meet you, Jake,” you replied, your tone friendly but guarded.
Before Jake could respond, Maverick spoke up, his voice casual but carrying just enough weight to make Jake pause. “Hangman, you do know who her father is, right?”
Jake’s grin didn’t falter—much. “No,” he said confidently. “Should I?”
“Probably,” Maverick replied, leaning back with a smirk, “he’s sitting over there.”
Jake’s head snapped to the other side of the bar, where Cyclone was seated, his gaze locked on Jake like a hawk sizing up prey.
Jake turned back to you, his confidence shaken but not broken. “You know,” he said with a sheepish laugh, “I think I might’ve left my beer at the pool table. Don’t go anywhere, though.”
Back at the pool table, Bradley was doubled over, laughing so hard he could barely breathe. Jake smacked him on the shoulder, muttering, “You’re a real piece of work, Rooster.”
“Worth it,” Bradley managed between laughs. "You retreating already, Bagman?” Bradley teased, his grin wide and smug.
Jake grabbed his beer and took a long sip before setting it down with exaggerated nonchalance. He leaned casually against the pool table, a smirk playing at his lips.
“Retreat?” Jake scoffed, turning his head to glance back in your direction. “Nah, Rooster. I’m just regrouping.”
Bradley’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh yeah? And what exactly is the plan now?”
Jake’s smirk widened into something almost wicked as he turned back towards the bar, fixing his collar and brushing his fingers through his hair. “Simple,” he said, his drawl thick and smooth. “I’m going to get her number.”
Bradley barked out a laugh, nearly spilling his drink. “You’re serious?”
“Dead serious.” Jake started toward you again, then stopped to look back at Bradley, his smirk now full-blown.
Bradley shook his head, half in disbelief and half in amusement. “This is going to end so badly, and I can’t wait to see it.”
You noticed Jake approaching again and sighed inwardly, though a small smirk tugged at your lips. He was persistent, you’d give him that. You had half expected him to give up once he realized who your dad was. You thought the line about forgetting his drink was him tucking his tail between his legs.
You glanced over at your dad who was still seated on the other side of the bar, his gaze heavy as he followed Jake’s movements back towards you.
“Back already?” you asked, raising an eyebrow as he stopped in front of you.
Jake leaned casually on the bar, his smirk as charming as ever. “Couldn’t stay away,” he said smoothly. “Hard to ignore someone as beautiful as you.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t entirely suppress the faint blush that you knew was on your cheeks. “Is this your usual routine? Flash a smile, throw out some compliments, and hope for the best?”
“Depends,” Jake said, his grin widening. “Is it working?”
“Not even a little,” you shot back, though the corner of your mouth twitched like you were fighting a smile.
Jake chuckled, undeterred. “Good. Wouldn’t be worth it if it were easy.”
You turned your head back toward Maverick and Penny, clearly dismissing him. If he was just looking for a quick lay for the night he could find it with someone else.
But instead of walking away, Jake stayed put, leaning against the bar like he had all the time in the world.
“Still here? Let me guess,” you said without looking at him. “You’re one of those pilots, aren’t you?”
Jake’s grin only grew. “Guilty as charged. And you? Let me guess
Cyclone’s daughter?”
You finally looked at him, your eyes narrowing. “If you already knew that, why are you still here?”
Jake shrugged, his gaze unwavering. “Because you’re gorgeous, and I don’t scare off that easily. Besides,” he added with a wink, “I like a good challenge.”
“Good luck with that,” you said, turning your back on him completely.
Jake laughed softly to himself, taking the hint—for now. He walked back to the back of the bar where the pool tables were and stopped beside Bradley, who was watching the whole exchange with poorly hidden amusement.
“She shut you down, didn’t she?” Bradley asked, grinning.
Jake picked up his beer, taking a long sip. “She’s just playing hard to get.”
Bradley snorted. “She’s not playing, man. She’s actually hard to get.”
Jake glanced over his shoulder at you, catching the way you smiled at something Maverick said. A genuine, soft smile, not the guarded one you’d given him. His smirk softened just a fraction as he turned back to Bradley.
“Even better,” Jake said, leaning against the bar. “That just means she’s worth it.”
Bradley raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sincerity in Jake’s tone. “You’re really not giving up, huh?”
Jake’s smirk returned, but there was a glint of something more genuine in his eyes. “Not a chance.”
A few weeks later The Hard Deck was once again buzzing. It was Friday night, and the sound of voices and clinking glasses filled the air. Jake was nursing a beer at the bar, laughing at one of Coyote’s bad jokes, when his eyes landed on you.
You were seated at a small table outside near the edge of the patio, absently twirling a straw in your drink as you stared out at the ocean. This time, you weren’t surrounded by Maverick, Penny
or your father thankfully.
“Hangman,” Coyote said, nudging him. “You listening?”
Jake didn’t even glance his way. “Yeah, yeah,” he muttered, already rising to his feet.
Coyote followed his line of sight and smirked. “Oh, this should be good. You really going to try this again? You know who her dad is right?”
Jake didn’t respond, just shot him a wink before making his way toward you.
You noticed him approaching out of the corner of your eye and sighed. Of course, he was coming over. It wasn’t like you hadn’t expected it, but you’d hoped he might take the hint after the last time that you weren’t interested.
“Evening,” Jake said smoothly, sliding into the seat across from you without waiting for an invitation.
You raised an eyebrow, leaning back in your chair. “What are you doing?”
“Just keeping you company,” he said, flashing that infuriatingly perfect grin.
You gave him a flat look. “Who said I wanted company?”
“Call it a hunch,” Jake replied, unfazed. “You looked like you could use someone to talk to. Or, you know, someone to distract you.”
You tilted your head, studying him. “Distract me, huh? And what makes you think you’re qualified for the job?”
Jake smirked, leaning forward slightly. “Because, darlin’, distraction is what I do best.”
You rolled your eyes, though you couldn’t entirely hide the amusement that flickered across your face. “You’re persistent, I’ll give you that.”
“Gotta be with someone like you,” Jake said, his tone softer now. “You’re not exactly making it easy for me sweetheart, are you?”
“My name’s not sweetheart. And why should I?” you shot back, arching an eyebrow. “You seem to like the chase.”
Jake chuckled, holding your gaze. “Maybe I do. But it’s not just the chase that’s got me sticking around.”
You blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in his tone. For a moment, you didn’t know how to respond.
“Well,” you said finally, reaching for your drink, “if you’re expecting someone to go home with you, I’m not her. There’s a cute blonde at the bar in the pink dress that might be interested though.”
Jake grinned, leaning back in his chair. “Who said I was looking for someone to go home with me?”
He stood, giving you a quick two-finger salute before heading back to the bar. You watched him go, shaking your head.
For the first time, you found yourself wondering if maybe—just maybe—there was more to Jake Seresin than his charm and good looks.
The ocean breeze lost its appeal as the night wore on, and you found yourself wandering back inside The Hard Deck, craving the warmth and the noise of the bar. You sidled up to the counter, setting your empty glass down with a soft clink.
Penny caught your eye from behind the bar and made her way over with her usual easy smile. “Refill?”
You nodded. “Just a soda, thanks.”
She grabbed the glass and began filling it, her movements practiced and smooth. As you waited, your gaze drifted across the room—right to Jake Seresin, who was leaning casually against the far end of the bar, laughing at something Coyote had said.
You quickly looked away, but not before Penny caught the direction of your stare.
“So,” she began, sliding the refilled glass back to you, “what do you think of him?”
You blinked, playing innocent. “Of who?”
Penny’s lips curved into a knowing smile as she wiped down the counter. “Jake’s been orbiting you all night.”
You sighed, glancing down at your drink. “He’s
persistent.”
“That he is,” Penny agreed, leaning against the bar. “But he’s also not as one-dimensional as he might seem.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Meaning what? That he’s not just some cocky pilot who thinks he’s God’s gift to women? Cause that’s what everyone around here is saying.”
Penny chuckled. “Oh, he’s definitely cocky. But there’s more to him. He’s loyal, sharp as a tack, and surprisingly thoughtful when he wants to be.”
You scoffed lightly, though the words lingered in your mind. “Thoughtful, huh? Doesn’t seem like the type.”
Penny tilted her head, studying you with an amused glint in her eyes. “Maybe you haven’t given him the chance to show you that side of him.”
You sighed again, fiddling with your straw. “To answer your question, he’s
fine, I guess.”
“Just fine?” Penny teased, arching an eyebrow. “You were staring pretty hard for ‘just fine.’”
Your cheeks flushed, and you quickly took a sip of your soda to hide your embarrassment. “I wasn’t staring.”
“Of course not,” Penny said, her tone light and teasing. “But if you were, I’d say maybe it’s worth it to give him a chance.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t suppress the small smile tugging at your lips. “We’ll see.”
Penny winked at you before moving on to another customer, leaving you to your thoughts.
From the corner of your eye, you caught Jake glancing in your direction, his grin widening when your eyes met. You quickly looked away, cursing the heat rising to your cheeks.
As much as you hated to admit it, Penny’s words stuck with you. Maybe there was more to Jake Seresin.
Or maybe you just weren’t ready to find out yet.
You were halfway through your soda when you glanced over again, catching Jake in the middle of another laugh with Coyote. He leaned back against the bar, looking so relaxed and self-assured that it almost annoyed you. Almost.
When his gaze shifted, locking onto yours, your stomach flipped. His grin stretched wider as if he could see right through you. You quickly looked down, pretending to focus on the melting ice in your glass.
Moments later, you caught movement out of the corner of your eye.
“Need a refill?” Jake’s voice drawled, smooth as ever.
You looked up to find him standing beside you, one hand resting casually on the bar. His emerald-green eyes sparkled with mischief, but there was something else there too—something that wasn’t as easy to dismiss.
Your first instinct was to brush him off again, but Penny’s earlier words echoed in your mind. Maybe you hadn’t given him a chance. Maybe you should.
“Sure,” you said finally, surprising even yourself. You pushed the empty glass toward him. “Knock yourself out.”
Jake blinked, momentarily caught off guard by your agreement. Then his grin returned, slow and satisfied, like he’d just won a small victory.
“Coming right up,” he said, grabbing your glass and heading back to the bar.
When he returned, he set the drink in front of you with a little flourish. “One soda. Extra ice, just how you like it.”
You raised an eyebrow. “And how would you know how I like it?”
He shrugged, leaning against the edge of the table. “Lucky guess
or I may have had some help from Penny.”
You couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped you. “Okay, Jake. You’ve got my attention. Now what?”
His grin softened into something more genuine. “Now I get to know you.”
You tilted your head, intrigued despite yourself. “And how do you plan to do that?”
Jake pulled out the chair across from you and sat down, his movements unhurried. “By asking you questions,” he said simply. “And, if I’m lucky, you might actually answer them.”
You sipped your drink, studying him. “Fine. Go ahead. Ask away.”
He paused for a moment, as if considering his options. Then he asked, “What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t gotten the chance to yet?”
The question caught you off guard. It wasn’t what you’d expected—not some flirty remark or shallow small talk, but an actual question. Thoughtful. Genuine.
You hesitated, then shrugged. “I don’t know. Travel, I guess. There’s a lot of the world I haven’t seen yet.”
Jake nodded, his gaze never leaving yours. “Any place in particular?”
“Greece,” you said, the word slipping out before you could stop it. “I’ve always wanted to see the islands. The history, the views
It just seems like it’d be beautiful.”
“It is,” Jake said, surprising you again.
“You’ve been?”
“Once,” he admitted. “A couple of years ago. Only for a few days, but it was incredible. The water’s so blue it doesn’t even seem real.”
For the first time, you found yourself genuinely curious about him. “What were you doing there?”
“Just passing through on leave,” he said with a shrug. “But I’d go back in a heartbeat. Maybe next time I’ll stay longer.”
You cleared your throat, glancing down at your drink. “Okay, your turn. What’s something you haven’t done yet?”
Jake smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling. “Convince you to let me take you on a date.”
You rolled your eyes, but there was no real heat behind it. “You were doing so well. Why ruin it?”
He laughed, leaning back in his chair. “Just being honest.”
For the first time, you found yourself smiling back. Maybe Penny had been right. Maybe there was more to Jake Seresin than you’d thought.
Note: This is my first time writing any fanfiction that's more than a paragraph or two. And is also my first time sharing or posting what I wrote so I would love to know what you guys think!
I am also considering maybe writing a second part of this that shows you finally giving Jake a chance if there's interest??

Characters: Gyeong seok, Jung bae, Jun ho, The Salesman, Sae byeok-

Gyeong seok-
Since moving in with Gyeong seok life has gotten a bit tougher for you; having way more responsibilities than what you’re used to, especially now since you have a cute step daughter who you love with all your heart, but it was something completely new and you thought you were doing a bad job. So to relieve some of the worries you began to sh. The pain washed the worries away. Then one day when you were playing with Na-Yeon your sleeves went up a bit and she had notices come red marks on your skin.
“Mama what’s that?” she said pointing at your arms.
You put your hands behind your back
“It's nothing sweetheart I just got a little boo boo just dont tell daddy ok?”
She just nodded and continued to play with her toys.
The next day it was Gyeong seok’s turn to take Na-Yeon to school.
While he was in a small conversation with her a cat appeared in front of her and she began to pet it and said.
“Papa, Mama said to keep this a secret but imma tell you. She had red marks on her arms. It looked like a kitty gave her a boo boo.
After hearing those words Gyeong seok knew that something was wrong. After dropping his daughter off he ran home to see if what he thought was true.
You were cooking dinner and suddenly someone barged into the front door.
“Let me see your arms”
“Why do you need to see my arms”
“Just show them to me.” He said in a stern voice.
You had no other choice but to show him
“Why are you doing this!?”
“Well I thought you might not want to be with me anymore if I was a bad mother so to cope I began to do this” You said almost whispering
“Why would I ever leave you for that reason? I married you for a reason because you're perfect in my eyes. I'm also learning to be a father and loving husband everyday so don't think you're going through all of this alone.” He said as he held you in a long embrace.
You were in his arms crying like a baby
“I love you” He whispered in your ear
“I love you too”
Jung bae-
Although he’s always bubbly there's a serious side that would show at times and that time was now. He accidentally came into to the room as you were getting dressed and saw your bruised body
“Y/N! WHO HIT YOU”
You looked at him standing at the door and realized that you forgot to lock it. He came in and sat next to you as he asked to see the bruises on your body.
“I did this to myself” you looked down feeling ashamed of saying it out loud.
He looked at you the brave person he had met was now a shell of their former self
“I want to help you so please don't do this to yourself because when you hurt yourself you hurt me as well.
He then helped you finish getting dressed and soon made you dinner before you both cuddled to sleep.
Jun ho-
He knew something was wrong (he’s literally a cop) so when you started to wear long baggy shirts he had to find out what was going on.
So he asked you one day out of nowhere if you wanted to go on a vacation. He never told you where but he did say it would be a surprise. So after the long car ride you woke to the smell of the ocean and the sun beaming on you. You used to love the beach but now It was your worst fear.
He led you to the beach house that his family owned and after bringing all the louage in it was finally time to head to the beach. As he was waiting for you to come out of the bathroom he wondered if he was maybe overthinking things. When he heard the door creak you still had a baggy shirt over your bathing suit.
“Aren't you going to go into the water?”
“Well um maybe not this time.” you said
“But you love going into the beach just take you have your bathing suit under right so just take it off”
As he was playfully lifting up your shirt he saw multiple cuts on from your stomach to your chest. You quickly pulled it down and just looked down.
“Is that the reason why you didn't want to go in
Babe, why didn't you tell me sooner.”
“Well
. because you have work and you seem to be busy”
“But I always have time for you. You mean everything to me and I want you to rely on me.”
“How about we get those bandaged up and later we can go out and have a dinner date near the beach.” He said wanting to make it up to you.
“I’d love that” You said giving him a kiss”
The Salesman-
He loves to see the blood of his enemies fall, but not you he cares so much for you. He noticed that there would be blood drops on the bathroom floor which made him install hidden cameras in the house. When he would go back to check them he would see you enter the bathroom and come out after a few minutes with bandages all over your legs and arms.
So on the day’s that you're not home he looks all over the house finding all the hidden blades and would slowly start removing them one by one until there was none. He even removed anything else that could be used. He even came home sooner so he could keep you company in the evening.
“What are you doing so early here”
“I just wanted to spend more time with you honey~”
Without you realizing it you had stopped and it was now a thing of the past.
Sae byeok-
She took it the hardest. Having someone that she loved dearly being in pain hurt her so much.
When she first saw the cuts and scars on your body she was mad, not at you but at herself for not knowing sooner.
“I’m so sorry babe, how can I even call myself your girlfriend if I can't even protect you”
She kept apologizing non stop. You didn't want to see her like this. She was such a fearless woman and she was blaming herself for something that you did to yourself, it felt like a dagger to the heart.
You kneeled down and cupped her face with your hands
“Hey! Please don't blame yourself for this.”
After saying that you got up and went to your shared bedroom and grabbed all the blades and brought them to where she is and you just threw them straight into the trash can. I don't want you to suffer for something that I did so please stop apologizing.”
You then went down and kissed her forehead. “I promise I'll stop this
for you.”

what do you think 141 men's sun signs would be? (phillip graves and keegan included, if you headcanon them as well)
what do you think?
okay, i don't know HOW you knew i'm an astrology nerd, but i am. i won't go too in depth about their entire charts, but i can definitely figure out some sun signs based on who they are on a surface level!!
Tumblr media
➝➝ john
a bonafide taurus, through and through (twinsies!!!). dependable, grounded, and a natural leader. he’s EXTREMELY protective over his men, stubborn to a fault, and always (tries to) keep a level head. he enjoys life’s finer things (like a good cigar and whiskey), but he’s also pragmatic and values stability. definitely the type to be patient, but once he’s pushed too far? unmovable.
➝➝ simon
a scorpio. intense, mysterious, and deeply private, embodies everything about this water sign. he keeps his emotions locked away, but when he loves, he does it with his whole soul (johnny). he’s the type to hold a grudge for life and operates in extremes, either you have his loyalty, or you don’t. his sense of humor is dark and dry, plus he thrives in the shadows.
➝➝ johnny
he's a tough one to call!! but i've settled on saggitarius. he's all firecracker energy, optimistic, adventurous, and constantly trying to beat someone up, shoot someone, or blow something up. he's a fucking dems expert. sagittarius fits him like a glove. PLUS, he’s got that infectious, chaotic charm and can talk his way out of (or into) anything. he doesn’t like being tied down, but when he’s dedicated to something, he gives it his all. the kind of guy who jokes to lighten the mood even in the worst situations, i mean come on. did you see him in las almas?
➝➝ kyle
LIBRA LIBRA LIBRA LIBRA. i have a libra rising so i feel so in touch with his sense of justice. for me personally, nothing enrages me more than seeing something just blatantly wrong. i mean think about the first modern warfare. man wanted to get his hands DIRTY for the greater good, or whatever. he felt it necessary in order to balance the scales, and libra's allllll about scales. he's also the mediator of the group, quick-witted, and socially adaptable. he knows how to navigate tense situations and keeps a cool head. libras are also deeply loyal to their people, and gaz would go to hell and back for his team. also he's fucking HOT, libra's ruled by venus.
➝➝ graves
a textbook leo and i'm not hearing anything else. charismatic, confident, and so good at making people believe in him. he carries himself like he’s the main character and knows how to command attention. but there’s that classic leo downside too, pride. his downfall is his ego, his need to be in control. he thrives in leadership positions and loves to be admired, but when his authority is challenged? that’s when the claws come out (e. g. "you've got about five seconds before i show you the difference between military, and me.")
➝➝ keegan
SUCH a capricorn and you cannot tell me otherwise. hes that no-nonsense, disciplined, get-shit-done type, which screams capricorn. he’s serious, hardworking, and has that quiet intensity that makes people take him seriously. capricorns are known for their sarcasm and dry humor, and keegan definitely embodies that. he’s also fiercely loyal. once you earn his trust, he’ll go to war for you.
➝➝ könig
a fun one to pin down. i’m torn between virgo and cancer, but i’m leaning more toward virgo.
he’s meticulous, observant, and highly analytical, classic virgo traits. virgos are often perfectionists, which fits with könig’s overthinking and anxiety. he strategizes everything, calculates risks, and probably notices details no one else does. he’s reserved but has a deeply anxious side, especially in social situations, which aligns with the more introverted nature of virgos. my sister's a virgo and has some ocd problems, but by god, there's a method to her madness and when she gets shit done, it's done well. virgos are also dangerous when they’ve had enough. they hold in a lot, but when they snap? it’s brutal.

skills showcase - auston matthews
Tumblr media
reader gets invited to go with auston to the nhl all star skills showcase with some other wags to show off their own skills. how does it end?
-
i walk into the locker room, skates in hand and a few of the wags by my side. i think we're all a little nervous for the upcoming showcase but i think it'll be a fun, once in a lifetime opportunity.
when i got the message a few weeks ago asking if i'd be willing to be a part of it, i almost told them no. if auston hadn't have talked me into it, i'd be sitting in my seat on the front row, watching my fiancé show off his own talents alongside more nhl stars.
i tie up my skates, tucking in the extra lace string and putting the bottom of my pants over it. i stand, a little wobbly since auston had just started teaching me how to skate the week before last and i'm still not very good at it. i slowly make my way to the hallway, waiting for my turn to go onto the ice when the announcer calls my name and introduces me.
once i hear them say my name, i carefully make my way out onto the ice, stick in hand, and over to auston, he grabs my hands once i make it to him to help me stop. "nice jersey." he laughs, pointing at his blue jersey that i stole from him to wear tonight.
"thanks, it's my fiancés." i joke and laugh, moving to stand beside him.
be laughs at my little joke, but then he gets serious. "where's your helmet?" he asks, frowning.
"they didn't give us one." i shrug, looking up at him.
"i gave you one to wear?" he laughs awkwardly. wondering where my helmet is.
"they told us we didn't need it..." i shrug again, pointing to some of the coordinators that are now on the bench.
"absolutely not. my top priority with you being out here is that you're safe." he says sternly, "you're wearing mine." he unclips his helmet, taking it off and plopping it on my head. he clips the strap together and adjusts it, making sure it's secure and comfortable.
"auston...now i'm the only one out here wearing a helmet..." i pout, crossing my arms and looking down at the ice.
"it'll be alright. i know it's probably embarrassing to you, but if you fall over like you were doing yesterday you'll be grateful." he laughs, tapping the top of the helmet.
i laugh, looking up to see the first wife skating up for the shooting portion of the short showcase. there's only five wags here so it shouldn't last long. she shoots and isn't able to make it past jeremy swayman, who offered to goaltend the shooting portion. he high fives her and she skates off to the speed portion.
she makes it past pretty easily, shooting one last goal and missing it too. the next woman goes and preforms about the same, but this time she made the second goal. after decent performances by all the women, it's my turn. i grip my stick that auston bought me, and skate up to the line.
i start at center ice, bringing the puck down until i get at a good distance and angle to shoot. i make my shot, smiling as i continue skating so i can try and get the fastest time. i trip up a little when going around the cones, but i quickly recover and speed up going back down the ice for my second shot. i shoot, aiming the puck for the top left corner, and make it.
i smile and throw my hands up in the air, skating back to auston who's skating towards me with a huge smile on his face. he picks me up, twirling me around and then setting me back down.
they calculate the scores, and soon determine that i won the little showcase. i smile wide as i skate over to pk subban, who was doing some interviews on the ice. he asks me a few questions about myself and then he says, "where'd you get the helmet from? seems like you're the only one who wanted to wear one." he laughs, holding the microphone up to me.
i lean in a little, "well, they told us we didn't need a helmet, but auston insisted that i wear his because he wants me to be safe. i fall a lot and i just learned to skate week before last so..." i laugh, adjusting my helmet.
pk laughs, saying a few more things before a quick goodbye. i skate over to auston and take off the helmet, handing it back to him. "here, baby.." he takes the helmet from me and gives me a kiss on the cheek.
"you did really well, sweetheart." he says with a smile.
"thank you," i say, fiddling with the hem of the dark blue jersey i was wearing. "i only did well because you taught me how to play..."
"you did well because you were willing to learn. i'm not surprised you skated and shot that well. but damn, you did amazing out there. it's like you're a natural on the ice." he smiles, looking at me.
they soon tell announce that the wags are done in the ice and we can take our leave.
i begin making my way towards the exit off the ice before auston grabs my arm, "my love, if you want you can sit on the bench beside me and watch." he says with a smile.
"will i be in anyone's way over there?" i ask, furrowing my brows.
"you shouldn't be. if they tell you to go, just let me know and i'll take care of it." he says, pulling me along with him and guiding me to the little bench that they set up on the ice for the players.
i sit in between him and sidney crosby, my heart racing. i look over at auston with an excited expression on my face. "auston...i'm sitting beside sidney crosby..." i whisper, smiling with excitement.
he nods and pats my head, "you can talk to him if you want. he doesn't bite." auston laughs.
i shake my head immediately, my eyes going wide. "no! i'll probably embarrass myself." i whisper. "and how do you know he doesn't bite?"
auston laughs a little louder and pulls me close, my body pressed against his side. he taps sidney on the shoulder, beginning to casually talk with him. i watch the other players on the ice take their turn showing off their skills, but the mention of my name makes me turn to look at auston in confusion.
he points to sidney, who's looking at me with a smile and an extended hand. i slowly reach out and shake his hand, listening as he introduces himself to me. sidney and i talk for a bit before it's his turn to go next in the current competition.
i look back up at auston and smile, "i told you he doesn't bite." he says with a laugh, "i'm next. you gonna be okay?" his expression turns a little more serious.
i nod with a smile, "yeah, i'll be okay. how much is left after this competition?"
he thinks for a second before he answers, "not much. maybe twenty minutes?" he says, watching as sidney finishes his turn and makes his way back to his seat beside me before he stands to get ready for his upcoming turn. i wish him luck and watch as he skates off.
-
after the showcase ends, auston drives me to the luxurious hotel and drops me off so i can sleep while he goes to hang out with his friends. i shut the hotel room door and kick off my shoes, cutting on a few of the smaller lights around the room instead of the big, overhead light.
i brush my teeth after i change out of my clothes, spitting out the toothpaste and rinsing with mouthwash. i wash my face and take off the little bit of makeup i had on. i walk back into the room, cutting off all the lights except for the one by the door so auston can see when he comes back to the room.
i turn on the tv and go to youtube, pulling up a video with soft, ambient music and a calming background to help me sleep. i get comfortable under the bed and pick up my phone. i click on my tracking app i have with auston and see that he's still out with the guys, his little icon signaling that he's in a building. i text him goodnight and shut off my phone, plugging it in.
i snuggle into the covers, closing my eyes. my efforts to fall asleep in vain, the cold mattress and quiet atmosphere that's usually filled with auston's snoring now making me almost uncomfortable. i can normally handle him being away, but something about this night is different. i sigh, sitting up in the bed and walking over to his suitcase. i grab the shirt he wore yesterday off the chair, slipping of my sleep shirt and putting on his shirt.
the smell of his cologne, hair products, and even a faint scent of his deodorant comforts me slightly as i make my way back to the bed, sliding in on his side. i pull his pillow close and close my eyes. the feeling of sleep soon overtakes my active mind, the soft music helping lull me to a restless sleep without auston in the bed with me.
-
i wake to a gentle hand on my shoulder, grumbling as i open my eyes. i sit up, my hair a frizzy mess as i yawn. i take a second to let my eyes focus, looking up at auston. "you're back..." i whisper.
he smiles softly, "of course i am, i'll always come back to you."
i smile sleepily at his words, scooting back so he can take his place in the hotel bed. he slips in and immediately throws the covers over his body, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer. we lay in silence for a second before i hear him speak softly. "you still awake?"
"yeah, you okay?" i look up at him in the darkness, my words cutting through the silence.
"yeah, i just wanted to tell you that i'm proud of you." he says, even in the darkness i can hear the smile on his face.
"for what?" i ask, my brows furrowing.
"for doing so well out there earlier. the guys were all raving to me about how good you did, at it really made me think about it." he says, "i guess i was so wrapped up in the excitement of everything that i forgot to truly congratulate you for winning and for doing such an amazing job."
i smile softly at his words, "thank you, auston. did i really do that good?"
"oh absolutely. you did way better than all those other women out there." he laughs.
i laugh along with him, "i don't know, david's wife rebecca did pretty well."
he hums, "she did okay."
i smack his chest softly, laughing along with him a little. "hey buddy, that's my friend you're talking about!" my words make him laugh a little harder, but soon silence fell over the dark hotel room once more. "but seriously, thank you. i couldn't have been able to do that without you."
he says nothing, pressing a kiss to my lips before he yawns and grabs the small of my back, pulling me closer. i yawn after him, hearing him yawn caused me to follow along almost immediately. he chuckles, rubbing my back softly. i close my eyes, finally content. i soon hear the comforting sound of his snores, making me smile as i soon begin to fall asleep as well.
the excitement and busyness of the day floats away from both auston and my sore bodies, gentle snores erupting from both of us as we sleep off the tired feeling in each others arms.

october 1, 2021 4:15 p.m. grant's house
[juhani] hello? grant, can i call you tomorrow? it’s late.
[grant] no, you can’t. i know it’s 11 o’clock where you are right now, and i don’t really care. you answered, so you’ve trapped yourself.
[varpu, faintly] juha, if you don’t talk now, he will never call you back.
[juhani] i want to speak with you, of course i do, it’s just–
[grant] fantastic, because that’s what we’re doing. we’re talking! i have 30 years of stuff to get off my chest, and i'm sure you have your own piece to share. not sure where to start, but.
[juhani] may i ask you a question? what did you overhear at dinner the other night? are you upset i'm moving? is that it?
[grant] i mean, that stung a little after the whole “i’ll be around to build a relationship with you,” thing, but i gave you my express permission to go home, so it’s whatever. we are both adults, so i am not going to fault you for making adult decisions that improve your life. i'm more upset by you claiming you didn’t tell me about your plans or include me in the moving and wedding stuff and whatever because i'm difficult.
[juhani] that’s not what–
[grant] oh, come on. don’t kid yourself. you said it yourself, anything involving me is like pulling teeth. i heard it loud and clear.
[juhani] well, when i tell you things, you never react well. it always goes precisely like this conversation is going.
[grant] really? never? because i remember being pretty positive about your proposal and about you contacting me in the first place and about coming to dinner to acquaint myself with varpu’s kids and about meeting varpu a while back

[grant] what i react poorly to is you leaving me out, you calling me difficult, you complaining about me in front of impressionable people, etcetera.
[juhani] i don’t want to leave you out.
[grant] that’s what varpu said, too, but i didn’t believe her, so why would i believe you?
[juhani] i have no idea how to interact with you. i've apologized to you, told you i regret the events of your childhood. nothing works.
[grant] do you regret it? because it kind of just feels like you’re doing the same shit again. abandoning me for your own self-interests. oh, and this time you’re replacing me with a brand new family you treat better.
[juhani] i'm not repl–okay, what would you prefer me do when you push me away? you told me i was difficult.
[grant] when did i say that? i mean, that's true, sure, but i would not say that to you. what i probably said that you’re misconstruing is that talking to you is hard because i'm not comfortable around you.
[juhani] and how long will it take you to be comfortable around me? i don’t know what else you want me to do. truly, i don’t, and it is not pleasant to be rejected endlessly.
[grant] well, i'd have to forgive you, but i don’t. if forgiveness was meant to happen, it would not be instant. you’d have to keep trying with me, even if i piss you off, even if i push you away. you’re my fucking father, it’s your job. you show up for your kid even if they’re horrible or annoying. you never turn your back on them. but, you know, you didn’t show up for the first 22 years you were around, so you’d have to try extra hard now to change my mind.
[grant] but honestly, i will never be comfortable around you. i've realized that over the last few days. i did actually think if you just kept trying, i'd relax and be less on edge, but nope. you could become an honest-to-god saint tomorrow, and i'll still be furious because nothing will make me understand why you couldn’t have been a decent person when i was a kid. like, when i needed you.
[grant] and i don’t get why you weren't. i don't. i'm serious. i can’t comprehend it. clearly, you have it in you to be a decent person. you love varpu's kids. you're fatherly towards them. you take them on vacation, you invite them to house and wedding venue tours, you tell them about and include them in your hobbies, you remember details about them, you smile at them without being forced, you go to their weddings and don’t flip out about them being queer even though you were viscerally disgusted with me when you found out–
[juhani] you shouldn’t bring them into this. it isn’t fair. and i've taken you on vacation before, for one.
[grant] i am being petty, but i think it's fair because i'm not shitting on them specifically. and yeah, okay, you took me on vacation once. you took me to finland exactly once, but i never met your family, and i remember nothing other than the plane rides.
[grant] and you shouldn’t do this. we don’t need to split hairs. you don’t need to crawl through that list of grievances and “well, actually” me as many times as you can manage. one vacation changes nothing. that does not erase all the times you sat there like a lame duck and ignored me or mocked me or let my mother abuse me. there is nothing for you to pat yourself on the back about.
[grant] nothing.
[juhani] so, what are you upset about now?
[grant] why?
[juhani] why what?
[grant] why are you like this? why were you a terrible father? why have no heart for me or my sisters? why did you save all your love for someone else’s kids?
[grant] oh, and how about cerise? you sure didn’t care about your bastard kids either, did you?
[grant] shit. i'm sorry. that just kind of came out. that’s not how i wanted to, you know, pepper that into this conversation. i was going to save that for the end.
[juhani] how do you know about her?
[grant] doesn't matter. it's a long story.
[grant] on that note, what is up with the secret daughter? how’d that happen? is she the only one, too, or should i be on the lookout for any other siblings? and hey, you only divorced my mother in the last few years, so you were cheating. how many times did you fuck around on her, and why would you? you wouldn’t divorce her because you were afraid of her, but apparently it's no big deal to cheat.
[juhani] grant, how can i answer you if you don't allow me to talk? cerise’s mother michelle is a doctor. your mother and i were both at a conference in detroit about healthcare outreach, and

[juhani] i know it seems contradictory, given how long i stayed with your mother, but i was unhappy in the marriage. i met michelle there at the conference, and she was kind and intelligent, and i suppose the rest of the story should be obvious to you.
[grant] goddamn, man. i hate my mother, but that’s bold: sleeping with another woman right in front of her face.
[grant] did she ever find out?
[juhani] eventually. you remember how she was with the finances. she tracked all the money going in and out of the household. you couldn’t have one cent go missing without being accused of something, and she’d always blame it on some incident with her brother and start ranting about him.
[juhani] look, the agreement with michelle was that i'd stay out of her life and send child support, and she wouldn’t interfere with my family either. i used to lie and tell your mother the child support funds were going somewhere important, but she didn't believe me very long. she did finally question me and find out the truth.
[grant] and?
[juhani] in hindsight, her reaction reminds me a lot of the one she had when you lashed out at her during your graduation dinner. very little left her speechless, but that did. initially, i should clarify. she would go on to never let me live cerise’s existence down.
[juhani] and to answer your question, as far as i know, cerise is the only other child.
[grant] as far as you know?
[juhani] i cannot rule out further surprises.
[grant] jesus christ. my grandmother is right, all men are dogs, but you most of all.
[juhani] does it upset you that much?
[grant] again, i don’t like my mother, but if i needed any more proof that you’re more spineless than a sea sponge, this is it. you were so unhappy with my mother that you’d cheat on her, but you’d not divorce her when your kids were vulnerable.
[grant] you disgust me. you slept around and thought with your dick before you spared a single thought for the kids you let my mother abuse. or for yourself! fuck you. if you’re going to be that selfish, at least be selfish enough to prioritize yourself and leave the woman making you that miserable!
[grant] and now i don’t believe you when you say you wouldn’t leave her back then because you were scared of her. do you seriously mean to tell me it’s less terrifying to cheat on her than to just walk out of the house and never come back?
[grant] i did that, you know? when i'd had enough of my mother, i told her as much and then never spoke to her again. and guess what? wouldn’t you be so stunned to find out she’s never tracked me down, never tried to call or email to reel me back in? she left me alone after i told her to go fuck herself!
[grant] and technically, you know it's possible to leave her, too. what did you say about the divorce? that she just rolled over and let you do it and was fine with you just coughing up all the assets and dipping?
[grant] exhibits A, B, and C that she’s a coward, too. she thinks she’s the boss, but if you fight back hard enough, she gives up. you could have left her at any point in time.
[grant] god. oh my god. you stupid, spineless motherfucker. i thought i'd maxed out on anger. apparently not!
[grant] you really could have been a better father. you could have had your whole little life overhaul decades ago, and you could have saved the entire family so much pain. you, me, elizabeth, kelly

[grant] i should have suspected as much, and i guess i did, but it's shocking to realize over and over just how useless you are as a father. i think it can't get any worse and then it does. you are a complete and utter failure as a parent.
[grant] this is why i can’t forgive you. you didn’t have to mess up so badly. but no. whatever you got out of the relationship was enough to convince you to sit there and watch my mother ruin all of us, and even thought you weren't happy with her, you got by with fucking other women and only regretted staying a billion years later when you noticed you had nothing of substance left in life but my mother. and that’s a pretty depressing way to live, isn’t it?
[juhani] i stayed because i thought we deserved each other.
[grant] with that attitude, maybe you did.
[grant] listen, i'll admit this, no problem. it’s no one’s fault that she is the way that she is. it’s not even yours. she’s abusive, and what she does to other people is her fault and her responsibility. she’s excellent, too, at convincing you to just go along with it and never question her. it's not that hard to get caught in her trap at first, and she will try her very best to break you. but at some point, you have to question anyway. at some point, you have to recognize you deserve better and do something about it.
[grant] but you didn’t. not until it was too late for it to mean anything.
[grant] i would never think i've done everything right, but in the end, i've respected myself enough to make better choices and do something about the situation i was in, and i've had to do that because the adults in my life weren’t responsible or organized enough to fix things before responsibility fell into my hands.
[juhani] you are a braver and a better man than i.
[grant] i'm glad i am, but do you know how exhausting it is to be brave all the time?
[grant] i am because you weren’t. it is entirely because you failed. you weren’t brave enough to give a fuck about yourself or your kids, so i've had to be brave my entire life. brave enough to survive my childhood, then brave enough to leave. and guess what? i don’t want to be brave. i just want to exist. and back then, i just wanted to be a kid.
[grant] just a kid.
[grant] i wanted to come home from school and play with my pokemon cards and hear my mom and my dad say, “hi honey! how was your day? we love you!" i didn’t want to live in fear of what horror would befall me each and every day.
[grant] fuck you. fuck you. fuck you. you stole my childhood. you stole elizabeth’s childhood. you stole kelly’s childhood.
[grant] you and my mother, but you could have done something. you could have given us our childhoods back. you could have done something! you should have done something!
[grant] you didn’t have to do everything right even. parents mess up, i know that, but you could have at least tried. the bar was on the floor. i would have over the moon living in a single parent household with a father who at least showed up to my hockey games if he wasn’t busy at work and gave me a hug every once in a while.
[grant] and you know what, you did more than steal our childhoods. because you couldn’t stand to sacrifice your comfort long enough to take care of your kids, we all have to live in permanent hell. i have to spend the rest of my life freaking out when someone walks up behind me or speaks too loudly or–god forbid–touches me! it took me years to finally learn not to flinch when someone high fives me! and kelly–i don’t know what she deals with, but i know her life can’t be peaceful.
[grant] again, i am not blaming you for what my mother did–i know she was not kind to you either– but i do blame you for not even trying to stop her or get away from her. you were an adult with power, and you didn't use an ounce of it. actually, you did use it, just not for good. you threw me specifically under the bus because it was easier to let my mother use me as a punching bag than you.
[juhani] you’re right.
[juhani] you’re right, grant.
[grant] i have nothing else to say, short of "fuck you" again. i think i'm done yelling at you.
[grant] no, wait, one last thing. what did you even see in my mother in the first place? what was so enticing about her that you’d stay with her so long and ditch your college sweetheart for her?
[juhani] i don’t know. i don’t know anymore.
[grant] i guess it was two people drawn to each other's misery.
[grant] great. well, that’s all, folks.
[grant] good luck with the new family. maybe you can make it right with someone else and enjoy a totally fresh start because you will never make it right with me, and i will never let you forget what you did to me and my sisters. and don’t lose varpu again, by the way. she is, like, far out of your league–so far it's not even funny–and you are lucky to have this second chance with her and to have a good relationship with her kids.
[grant] also, just so it's clear, i don't want to speak to you anymore after this. don't call me, i won't call you either, except in one circumstance. i'll consider it on the day my mother kicks the bucket. we can toast to the end of that chapter of our lives and hope that the haunting ends. because surely you have to feel a little haunted, too, right? i have a sinking suspicion that’s why you reconnected with me. you don’t care about me. you care about that fresh start, about making yourself feel better about wasting your life and fucking up everyone around you.

Lmk au idea.
Wukong isn't MK's teacher. At least, not in the same way he is in the show.
In this idea I had randomly pop into my head I'm thinking that Wukong had gone above and beyond simply vanishing for 500 years and hiding out on FFM. He straight up changed his identity and went into hiding as a mortal. He says fuck off to being a demon god, fuck off to all the gods and celestials and all his titles. He retires, fully and completely, passing his crown off to his Stalwarts and just becomes a wanderer traveling around, doing odd jobs and never staying in one place too long.
At some point over the centuries he ends up back in the village that he left his staff in, or rather, whay it became. A sprawling metropolis of a city that a person trying to disappear can easily do so. He set up shop, having had many hats over the years he's able to easily pick up a humble job nobody would blink twice at. Mechanics are always sorely needed in large cities after all.
One day at his shop a hauntingly familiar fave appears at his doorstep. Pigsy's truck had broken down while he was out with baby MK on a supply run and Wukong's shop had been the closest mechanic they could find. Wukong could sense something was special about MK, but not what or why and after he fixed up the truck he spent the next hour or so reminding himself that he is not Sun Wukong anymore, he is not part of that life anymore. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Wukong's mechanic work was something Pigsy liked, a lot. The truck was running smoother than if ever did before and the price was a steal! Wukong quickly became the favorite mechanic shop for Pigsy's Noodles and MK began to show up more often at the mechanic shop (he crashed a lot of stuff ok). Wukong ends up becoming the cool mechanic dude who helped teach MK how to mod his hoverboard and would often drop cryptic but helpful advice to the kid, Wukong having settled with the idea that he can look after the kid at least since it doesn't look like Zu Baijie's decendant or the kid were going to go away anytime soon. This led to meeting Tang and Mei, which were... experiences. And Wukong just ends up being a family friend to the Noodle Gang who likes cold vegetarian noodles.
Then a Hero is Born happens. Wukong hadn't been there for that experience. He was "on a supply run" when DBK was freed, he was in a different town entirely. So he wasnt physically present when MK became the Monkie Kid. It doesn't mean he wasn't completely uninvolved, though. Wukong isn't stupid, he knows DBK would eventually be freed, and he also knew it was possible someone else would pick up his staff. Afterall the staff had chosen him, not the other way around. It isn't unfeasable to imagine it'd pick another now that it's owner has put it down. Plus it isn't entirely impossible to imagine whoever it is would seek him out, he was the last known person to wield the Ruyi Jingu Bang after all.
He left a series of visions and astral projected recordings in his cave. The first being triggered should anyone breach his cave, the vision MK first sees when he enters Water Curtain Cave, only it doesn't stop at Wukong just running off. The projection speaks.
Wukong's recording. Looking as laid back and amused as can be: If you're seeing this, congrats! You got past my unstoppable barrier! Unfortunately I'm afraid that you won't be able to find me, as I would have been long gone from this place and am retired! So if your here for an autograph I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to leave.
MK: WHAT!?
Wukong's recording, becoming serious and almost sad: If you are a friend, however. I want to say I'm sorry, but please don't go seeking me out. I am hanging up my crown and title as the Great Sage and the Monkey King, and I don't not wish to be disturbed. Over the centuries I've come to realize my whole life I've done nothing but hurt the people I care about, so... for everyone's sake... I'm disappearing so that I can't hurt anyone again. Ever. And if you find my staff, I'm sorry I can't be there to help you. But I'll give you a piece of advice I learned, believe in yourself. Even just a smidge can make all the difference.
MK is gobsmacked at the thought that Sun Wukong had just up and left like that, that he's been gone for a long time and won't be able to help. He decides if Wukong wasn't there to be a hero anymore, he'd do it for him. Just a smidge makes a difference, right?
And so the Monkie Kid becomes the Monkie Kid. Over the next season or so he struggles a lot with his powers, not having a proper mentor. See, unlike the rest of the Noodle Gang, since Wukong wasn't physically present when MK became the town hero he isn't ever explicitly told it's MK. MK literally just forgets to mention it to him, but he does his best to help where he can. Giving advice where he can.
Most everything else was done without his input, altho MK did find it weird that the Calabash seemed to think his mechanic friend was the Monkey King. It's the first hint he ever has that Wukong was not as he seemed, but he write it off as him simply thinking of Wukong as a mentor figure since he's always been supportive and gave helpful advice and the Calabash substituting the Monkey King for Wukong.
Even the Macaque episode was done mostly without his input, altho a certain black furred monkey was not happy that his attempt to lure Wukong out didn't work at all. Wukong had been busy with renovations to expand the shop at the time, thus where the "step into the strike" advice came from since MK had been helping Wukong with tearing down the wall.
The big reveal about Wukong being the Monkey King only happens during Revenge of the Spider Queen, when Wukong has no choice but to step in as the Monkey King. And believe me, he is absolutely not happy about the matter. He doesn't run away once everything is done and over, but it's very clear that he is upset by the way he avoids everyone and jsut sits curled up on the rooftop. When asked why he never told them, especially knowing MK was using his staff, he first points out MK had never explicitly told him about the whole Monkie Kid business so he had no reason to "know" anything about it. Then he jsut points to the destroyed city.
Wukong: This is what happens everytime the Monkey King appears. Destruction, death, and chaos. I didn't want to be that anymore.
This spun off from a convo on how Wukong likely felt abandoned by his mentor(s), beginning with Subodhi, the allies he made in Heaven before the war, Guanyin, and even Tripitaka when the monk passed.
Wukong, going by just "Wu", drifting along the centuries living a mortal life. Packs up and leaves whenever conflict or war breaks out, or when people start to get suspicious.
His number one rule? Never get attached. Never again...
He becomes a mechanic (a real "grease monkey" if you will). Although he loves medicine and herbalism, it simply has too many paper trails. Also cars are fun to tinker with and don't talk back most of the time. Less likely to make a connection.
He eventually returns to the village where he lay his Staff down for good. Just seemed right coming up to the 500 year anniversary of one of his biggest regrets. The village has since become a sprawling mega-city, open to humans and demons alike. There he plants his roots.
The biggest shock of his life comes when he sees his brothers faces and souls all over again. Three in new bodies, and one in the same. A certain fish demon had pretended he didnt recognise him, and Wu returned the courtesy - seems he wasn't the only one from the old days to retire.
He wonders if it was the right decision to settle in Megapolis...
Until the day Pigsy knocks on Wu's shop, breathless and carrying a wiggly baby human (?). His food truck had given up the ghost and the cook desperately needed repairs asap! Wu simply couldn't turn him away.
Through the conversation and the repair process, the wiggly baby maybe-human had stared at the monkey demon with absolute wonder. Wu isn't sure why until he overhears the cub blabble something into his father's ear.
MK: "Mon-ken." Pigsy, fond sigh: "No MK, that's not the Monkey King. He just looks like the drawing in your Baba's book." Wu, nearly drops the truck on himself: "Eh?" Pigsy, little embarassed: "Oh! Sorry. The piglet is convinced that you're the Monkey King. My partner researches mythology and stuff, and he fills the kid's head with all sorts of ideas." Wu, rolls out from under the truck with a cheeky smile: "It's no problem. You'd be surprised how often I get mistaken for him! Think its the fur." (*Wu shares a glance at MK, the baby human is still staring at him unconvinced. Wukong makes a unsubtle shush motion and winks - causing the little human to wiggle once more with joy. Pigsy sighs fondly once more, knowing that the boy will most definitely hold this moment dear throughout his childhood*)
With that one chance meeting, Wukong breaks his number one rule; Never get attached.
It's not his fault he fixed the truck so good that Pigsy became a loyal customer! And the pig demon began tipping him with free cold vegetarian noodles. And that the scholar at the shop and him started info-dumping together! And that the little human began seeing him as a beloved uncle...
Oh yeah. Wu is in too deep. Hopefully nothing too chaotic happens within the next few years or so >:3
You can say a certain monkey demon nearly had a heart attack when he learned that someone had finally taken up his Staff - and that it was his little buddy!! Also Sandy is back in the gang, so they can't pretend that they dont know each other for long.
Wu would *like* to step up and reveal himself as the Monkey King to MK - but he feels that would just make things so much worse. The kid's trust in him would shatter immediately. So it's better to leave his projections on FFM to do the physical training, and for Uncle Wu to provide him with much-needed emotional guidance.
Sharing this dm you sent in particular based on the "Macaque" episode cus it's a tasty piece of dialogue:
MK: "Is it really better to focus your power into every attack?" Wu: "Hm, that's a lonely way of thinking. And dangerous. Look at this hammer I use for example, it's strong but if I'm not careful an just bang away at metal, it'd hit hard but it'd cause more damage to myself and the people around me. But if I were to... step into the swing so to speak and not depend on the hammer but rather my own strength, it's easier to control and has less risk of hurting myself."
He had been doing renovations on the wall to expand his business at the time, thus why he was banging at the wall with a hammer.
Eventually the episode ends with Macaque calling desperately out to the battlefield - almost begging for his king to reappear. The shadow monkey is so occupied in his despair and anger that MK manages to slip free and reclaim his power.
MK promptly bullies Macaque into actually mentoring him. Macaque chuckles at the nerve of this kid, and agrees - but only as a truce until Wukong returns. After that, Macaque expects a rematch.
Unironically loving this AU

In a zombie apocalypse, in the style of The Last Of Us, would the Ros manage to survive like in this world, would they give their lives to protect Mc?
I think all of them would give their lives to protect MC. I'm not including Jade in that of course.
❀ Cam - He would become very resourceful, he's stil hotheaded in his ways, but he is also more cautious of what's going on. Who can and can't be trusted. He'll likely have a few close calls, but I think he would survive. (until much much later and be killed off in a heartbreaking way. but i would never do that so.)
💙 G - They try their best to hide their emotions, how everything is falling apart around them and it only worsens their mood. They would definitely be putting their medical knowledge to good use. Their would be more noticeable cracks in the mask they wear, chipped away by the horror that is now their life. And they would be more honest with themselves and their feelings, because their time is so limited.
💚 Kara - I could see her using her charm to get by, which in her opinion is wasteful of her time and her energy. But if it keeps them safe, then she would have no problem with it. She can be cunning, and I think this would be the perfect time for her to show it. Her dominating personality would really push her to take action, and maybe even cause her to bump head with others.
💛 M - They will pull out some serious zombie knowledge. From the B rated movies they loved before, to anime/manga even games. M really tries to make things make sense. Honestly this spurns their creativity and that is something that would become a bit of a crutch for them, a form of escape. But escaping isn't something they have the time to do, they have to come to terms with whats happening. It would be a trying time for M, and MC would have to help them through it. M isn't always happy-go-lucky. They've dealt with horrible situations before. This is just another facet of that, and they would deal with it. And become someone that MC could really depend on.
💜 Isaac - Death they know oh too well. It's already shaped them in ways they've still not dealt with. (certain spoiler things about Isaac would come in helpful navigating this new life) Isaac would constantly be worried about MC. Especially when they've come to terms with their feelings. To the point they would make some dumb choices that could cost them their life. But if it means MC is safe... then it's a cost Isaac would pay ten-fold. They would be really good at bartering, and likely become a runner. Dangerous but the pay is good. It at least gives them some stability. There isn't one decision he makes that doesn't take MC into consideration.
đŸ–€ Ardent - (this idiot would get himself killed because he doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut.) The good thing about him, he paints a very dominating image. One that many would think twice about trying to take advantage of. Not to mention the way he talks, with bite to his words, Ardent makes more enemies than friends. But that's fine, because friends close, enemies closer. This way, he knows who to suspect. I think he would likely lose Cupid, not because she dies but because he wants her safe, and Ardent knows its not safe to be with him in the city. That would really break him. Which means it's a good thing he has MC. Ardent would be the type to push others away, thinking it's for their safety, but MC would be the one to remind him that they’re capable of making their own choices and don’t need him to shield them from everything.

“Are you seriously wearing that y/n.” he asks, his voice sharp
Your smile drops, caught off guard. “What’s wrong with it?” you look down adjusting your black mini skirt. The outfit hugged your figure nicely, shaping you perfectly.
“What's wrong with it?” He repeats, almost mocking you, “you look like your desperate for attention”, His eyes traveling down your body. “It makes me look bad y/n”.
His words hit you like a slap on the face. “Desperate? Really. I'm not dressing for attention, Eunwoo. I'm dressing for myself.”
“Oh please y/n.” he snaps, his voice rising. “That's all bullshit, you know how this looks. People are gonna look at you and think I just picked up some slut on the way.”
You were shocked, absolutely gob smacked. The energy in the room had completely dropped, once excited to show your outfit now dangerous like a ticking time bomb was gonna go off at any second, it was always like that when he entered a room.
“Are you fucking serious Eunwoo”, your voice starts to raise, shocked and disbelief in his audacity.
“Dead.” his voice shot a dagger straight into you, the more and more he spoke, the more venomous his words got. “Do you not understand how this is gonna make me look” not everything is just about you y/n so stop being so fucking selfish for once and start thinking about how your choices affect me.”
“How it makes you look?” you spit his words right back at him. “are you fucking kidding me, I'm the selfish one? You just fucking slut shamed me.” you say angrily making your way back to your room, you knew he was hot on your trails, you can feel his negative presence behind you.
He scoffs “Oh so now I'm the bad guy.” you turn your head back to him sharply before he continues. “You need to face reality; your outfit makes you look cheap.”
The words sting more than you like to admit. You take a step closer, your voice trembling with anger.
“No, the reality is that you're trying to police me, you don't get to control any aspects of my life Eunwoo. You're my boyfriend not my fucking dad.”
“You think you’re being so strong and independent, well you're not, your being difficult like always. You seriously don’t care how this affects me?”
You can’t believe this guy.
“I'd probably have more sympathy for how you felt if you weren't insulting me left and right.”
He scoffs again, “Insulting you? Or am I just being honest, dressed like that you're practically asking for it.”
You freeze, and for a moment the two of you stand there, the energy between you two thick and suffering, he looks like he’s about to say something else but,
“You know what Eunwoo. I don't need this from you right now.”
Eunwoo stares at you, his jaw tightening, annoyance deep in his eyes.
“Fine, do whatever you want ‘Ms. Independant’, but don't expect me to help when you start getting that as you say unwanted attention.” his voice darkens.
With that, he storms out of the room, slamming the door behind him. You exhale shakily, hands tremble as you try to process what just happened, but the last thing you were going to do was let him ruin your night.
You shake your head, trying to push away the lingering tension, but his words still sit heavy in your mind. The anger in his eyes, the way his voice had dropped to something low and threatening—it wasn’t the first time. It never was.
You both had met in high school, and in the beginning, everything had been smooth sailing. He was charming, sweet in ways that made you believe in forever. He made you feel like the center of his world, like nothing and no one could ever compare to you. But slowly, those small, seemingly harmless gestures of care started to morph into something else entirely.
The subtle changes crept in, so slow that you almost didn’t notice them at first. The way he would ask where you were, who you were with, how long you’d be gone—it felt like concern, like love. Until it wasn’t. Until his questions turned into demands. Until his presence felt suffocating. Until he made sure that all you needed was him.
You used to defend it, tell yourself he just loved you too much, that his possessiveness was a twisted form of devotion. But now, after years of biting your tongue, of letting him dictate your choices, of walking on eggshells to avoid setting him off—you were exhausted.
Your snapped out of your thoughts when Eunwoo honks from his car, determined, you grabbed your purse and head out, you take a deep breath before reaching his car.
_______________
The atmosphere shifts as both you and Eunwoo step into the crowded house. The party already in full swing. The air filled with a distinct violet hue, casting ethereal glows on everyone's faces. The haze of alcohol and weed hanging in the air, while bodies everywhere were dancing to the bass thumping through the walls.
As you push through the crowd, you force a smile to the familiar faces you see, trying to shake off the lingering tension from earlier. He hadn’t said much since the argument, the heavy silence between you two speaking louder than words ever could. It was a silence laced with unspoken resentment, a tension that refused to dissipate. His jaw was set, his hand on your lower back, guiding you through the crowd, his touch felt nothing like affection but like a leash, and you knew this wasn’t over.
Next to her stands a tall, broad-shouldered guy with a slightly messy black mullet, his toned arms visible beneath the dark, rolled-up sleeves of his button-down. He leans against the wall with an effortless confidence, but it’s not his stance or even his presence that makes your breath hitch.
it was him.
Your heart stumbles over itself, a sharp inhale barely making it past your lips. It’s the first time you’ve seen him since that night, since everything changed, since he left you standing there with nothing but your own guilt and confusion weighing you down.
Your fingers twitch at your sides, nails digging into your palm as the memories you’ve spent two weeks trying to suppress come rushing back all at once. The way his lips felt against yours, the way his hands had gripped your waist, the way his voice had sounded when he whispered into your ear.
You tear your eyes away, pulse racing, but you can still feel him.
“y/n! You're finally here” she pulls you into a tight hug before turning to him and Eunwoo watching their lively exchange.
He’s still oblivious to your presence while your mind spirals into a chaotic mess of anxiety. Their words blended into a distant murmur, muffled by the frantic pounding of your chest. You feel a knot forming in your stomach, the silence between your racing thoughts grew heavier, suffocating.
“babe”
you were gonna be sick.
“This is y/n, my best friend.”
His eyes dart over to you, expression unreadable at first, but his lips part slightly as the recognition flashes in his dark eyes.
Jungkook’s lips curl into a small, polite smile, but his gaze lingers on you a moment too long.
“Hi y/n, Jungkook”, he says, voice smooth and inviting.
It was all forced, given the chaos you had both unknowingly caused. The fleeting connection you both had created hangs in the air like an unspoken tension between you. You can’t help but wonder if it's truly him or is he masking the complexity of your choices for both his and your sale.
Your chest tightens, and you swallow hard, forcing yourself to speak. “Nice to meet you, Jungkook” you say, voice steady, but your head feels like it’s pounding out of your chest.
“Likewise,” he replies voice calm, though there's an unmistakable edge to it, a subtle tension that only you seemed to notice. His eyes lingering on yours a fraction too long, enough to send your heart into overdrive. The polite facade he wore couldn’t hide the unspoken history in the air.
Eunwoo shifts beside you, his presence a reminder of the situation you were in. You could feel his gaze on you before he turns back towards Jungkook. Suspicion barely veiled behind his otherwise neutral expression,
“Do you guys know each other?” Eunwoo said, voice breaking through the strained silence.
It was a harmless question on the surface. Before you could even begin to form an answer, Jungkook spoke up.
“We don’t”, he said smoothly, his lips curving into a polite smile. “First time meeting”.
His lie was seamless, it was enough for you to feel Eunwoo’s body relax next to you, but it wasn’t enough for the tension between you two to die down.
Lilah, blissfully unaware, jumped in to fill the silence.
The group all engaged in a conversation, one you weren't listening to, nodding absentmindedly as your thoughts swirl.
The weight of Jungkook's presence lingers, and your mind keeps drifting back to that night, the way you both gave into something you shouldn’t have.
“I'll be right back,” you blurt out, more as an escape than anything else, you flash a quick smile and head toward the kitchen. The music was loud, bass pulsing as you make your way through the crowd, People are everywhere, laughing, shouting, screaming the lyrics of the song currently playing, but you hardly notice. Your head was spinning, not from the alcohol, not yet at least.
At the counter you grab the strongest thing you can find and line up two shots, downing one quickly, you wince at the burn, The second follows swiftly, your hand grips onto the counter grounding yourself as you also try to ground your thoughts.
You don’t feel him approach you as your pour a third.
His hands stuffed into his pockets as watches you attentively before speaking up.
“y/n, we need to talk.” he says, his tone calm, but his frustration was obvious.
You don't even glance at him, instead you throw back your third shot, starting to grow numb to the sting. “What’s there to talk about.” you say flatly, setting the empty glass down and reaching for another.
“Don’t do that” he snaps stepping closer, the proximity making your skin prickle. “Don't pretend like it didn’t happen,”
You ignore him ready to pour your fourth shot, he takes the bottle out of your hand setting it aside.
You huff and finally turn to face him. “This is not the time or place for,” you vaguely gesture between the two of you, “whatever happened between us.”
Jungkook’s jaw clenches, his frustration growing more prominent. “And when will ever be.” he counters, leaning in slightly. His eyes search yours, looking for anything he could find.
Your breath hitches, you turn to leave anything to avoid the conversation, to avoid the tension, but his hand reaches out, catching your arm, not tight enough to hurt you, but just enough force to get you to stop.
“No,” he says, his voice quieter but no less intense. “You’re not walking away from this.”
Before you can protest, he’s leading you down the hallway towards the closest bathroom away from the large crowd. He opens the door ushering you inside, shutting the door behind him with a soft click, muffling the party’s chaos.
You’re back against the sink as his broad frame stands over you, presence overwhelming in the small space.
“Seriously Jungkook what do you want me to say? That I regret it? That I don't? I have nothing to say. End of story.” you say before attempting to escape.
He steps Infront of you, “you don't get to brush this off like it's nothing y/n.” he retorts, voice raising slightly. “You’re my best friend’s girlfriend, do you understand how complicated this just got.”
You flinch, the reminder hitting you harder than you’d like to admit, but you mask it with irritation. “You don’t think I know that?” you hiss, keeping your voice low. “Don't act like you’re the only one dealing with this Jungkook. When you turned around it made me sick to my fucking stomach.”
Jungkook exhales sharply, his lips pressing into a thin line before speaking up again. “And what do you think it’s been like for me? Watching you with him, pretending like I don’t know what your skin feels like under my hands, like I haven’t thought about you every damn day since that night?”
Your breath hitches and your body tenses, the raw honesty in his voice striking something you weren’t prepared for. You glance away chest tightening as his words hang heavy in the air. “Jungkook, I- we both know it shouldn’t have happened” you say, your voice quieter now. “Let’s just forget it and move on. It’s better for everyone.”
His laugh is sarcastic, a sharp exhale through his nose. “You really think I can just leave it at that?” he asks stepping closer. His voice lowers. “You think I can just pretend like I don't remember the way you looked at me that night? The way you-” he cuts himself off, running a hand through his hair as if trying to steady himself. “If you think I can just forget it your crazy y/n.”
You stayed silent, unable to form a coherent sentence.
“I-”
“Tell me you haven’t thought about me at all these past two weeks.” he interrupts, eyes searching yours once again.
“Jungkook we ca-”
“Tell me" he says cutting you off again. Why is he making this more difficult than it needs to be.
You hesitate, the truth weighing heavy on your tongue. “Does it even matter,” you say finally, your voice firm despite the way your heart pounds in your chest.
“It matters to me,” he counters, frustration lacing his words.
“Well, it shouldn’t.” you avert your gaze “my answer won't change anything, what happened that night can never happen again Jungkook, you know that”.
Its silent the air between you growing thicker, for a moment he’s just staring at you, almost as if he was contemplating his next move.
“But what if I want to.” his voice almost in a whisper.
Your breath hitches, his words feel like a punch to the chest. “Jungkook...” you start.
Your mouth hung open, but nothing comes out.
“I mean it,” he says not waiting for you to speak, his eyes locked onto yours, voice trembling with frustration and something deeper. “That night... It wasn’t just a simple mistake to me y/n. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since, and I can't find it. Not with her.
Part of you knew it was wrong, so wrong. Your brain wanted to push him away and just walk out the bathroom. Your best friend loves him, trust him, and Eunwoo, although not the best boyfriend, you couldn’t do it to him. Betrayal sat heavy on your chest, reminding you that the moment should have never happened in the first place.
But the other part of you wanted to be selfish, you couldn’t let go no matter how much you tried to convince yourself. There was a part of you that remembered the way he touched you that night, the way his lips felt on yours, the way your body responded to him. The way he’s looking at you now, it scares you more than anything, because if he’s willing to cross the line again, you don't know if you’re strong enough to stop him.
Think with your mind, or your body.
“No Jungkook, we can’t.” your voice small, you sounded like you were trying to convince yourself more than anything.
He observes your face, the way you were avoiding his gaze, fidgeting with the hem of your skirt. He stood and watched you.
“You’re lying to yourself,” he says tone growing softer. “I can see it y/n. The way you look at me, the way you're avoiding my eyes right now.” You meet his gaze, your heart racing as his words sink in “I know you felt it too.”
You shake your head slightly nudging his chest to push him back slightly, mostly to give yourself more space to breathe. “Do you hear yourself right now? She’s my best friend and you're his, We can’t.”
“I know who we are,” his voice breaking slightly, “You think I don't feel guilty? You think I don't hate myself every time I see her smile at me completely clueless? But that night,” his voice softens, eyes pleading. “That night was the first time in my life I felt something real.”
You try to keep your composure as his words cut through your defenses, leaving you almost speechless. “But it wasn’t real, we were both drunk, it was a moment of weakness, that's it.”
“No,” he says firmly, shaking his head. “Don't call it that. Don't reduce it to that. You and I both know you felt it too,” He runs his fingers through his hair steadying himself. “You can’t tell me it meant nothing to you.”
Theres another moment of silence between you too, you were finding the right words to say but you were speechless. You couldn’t believe the situation you both had gotten yourselves into. The guilt, the longing, the frustration—they swirl inside you, a chaotic storm that you can’t seem to escape. Jungkook’s eyes are locked onto yours, waiting, searching, as if hoping you’ll give him something, some kind of answer, some kind of clarity, but all you can do is stand there, trapped in the gravity of a mistake that neither of you can bring yourselves to fully regret.
“Jungkook we can't, end of discussion.” you say pushing past him.
Your hand on the doorknob you pause before speaking up. “and yes, I felt it too.” before he can respond you were out the door.
You make your way back to Eunwoo and Lilah first, your steps shaky, not only because the alcohol, but because of the emotions whirling inside you. Your heart pounding harder than you care to admit. You were angry at yourself for even letting the hookup with Jungkook happen, guilty because of Lilah and Eunwoo, and something else you're unwilling to name.
You find Lilah alone, her greeting you with a warm cheerful smile. “Hey, where'd you disappear to?”
“Just needed some air” you reply, forcing a small smile sitting on the couch next to her.
Jungkook appears a few seconds later, entering from the opposite side of the room, his movements slower than yours. He’s calm, like nothing happened, but you can feel the unwavering tension, that only you two seem to notice, radiating off him.
“Where’s Eunwoo?” you ask trying to distract yourself from his presence.
Before anyone can answer Eunwoo plops himself on the couch next to you, lazily hanging his arm over the back of the couch behind you. You can tell he’s slightly buzzed from the looseness in his posture and the evil edge in his smile, the one that's always a warning.
The four of you are talking about something trivial, but you barley register any words. The conversation muffled under Jungkook’s words playing on repeat in your head: “I’ve been thinking about it, more than I should.”
What you don’t take notice to is the two guys staring at you from a distance, but Eunwoo does. His eyes roll annoyed more at you than the two guys that were eye fucking you from across the room.
You turn to him feeling his gaze shift to you, you can tell he’s upset, whether it’s your earlier argument with him or something else entirely.
Until he leans in and finally whispers into your ear, “You must love all the attention on you tonight, it's like every guy just can't take their eyes off you.”
Your expression falters before you quickly mask it with a sweet smile, not quick enough, Jungkook notices but says nothing.
You exhale slowly, forcing yourself to stay calm, you don't want to give him the satisfaction of a reaction, not here, not Infront of everyone.
“You must be so lucky to have me then huh.” you whisper into his ear. He can hear the sarcasm in your voice, he smirks, clearly pleased with himself lifting his drink to his lips.
You can’t believe he would try to pull something like this Infront of everyone. The weight of everything tonight becomes too much.
You stand abruptly smoothing down your skirt “I need a drink.” you say, voice sharper than intended. Without waiting for any form of response you turn on your heel and make your way towards the kitchen once again.
The kitchen was quieter than the living room, but there’s still a buzz of activity. People against the counters, loudly laughing, pouring drinks. You push your way through this time grabbing a bigger cup and pouring yourself something strong enough to make you forget about the night when you woke up.
The burn of the alcohol as you down it is strong and immediate, but it didn't help the way you thought it did.
So, you pour another, and another.
Hands growing steadier but your thoughts don't. His words still in your head. His intentions were clear, cruel and uncalled for. What stings the most is the way he said it, not with warmth, not with teasing affection, but with something sharper, something that dug beneath your skin and settled in your chest like a dull ache. His tone was laced with something possessive, almost accusatory, as if your mere existence in this dress, in this party, in this moment, was an invitation for attention. As if you wanted it. As if you were asking for it.
The thought fuels your anger even more, you finish the drink faster than you know you should, you had already lost count, and you know you should slow down, but it's starting to blur the pain, and that's all you need right now.
You feel someone's gaze on you, you look up and of course.
Its Jungkook.
His expression almost unreadable. It wasn’t judgmental or anger it's something softer.
You hate the way he looks at you, like he sees right through you, past the facade and right into the mess you're trying to drown.
You don't want to face him right now; you can't face him right now. You pour yourself another drink, desperate to get rid of the feeling of Jungkook's gaze, Eunwoo’s words, and the growing ache inside of you.
When you make your way back to everyone, you’re noticeably drunk. Your steps unsteady and you laugh at things that aren't even funny. Lilah gives you a concerned look.
Eunwoo finally speaks up, “You're drinking a lot tonight,” his voice calm but no less condescending. On the outside someone might think he’s genuinely concerned, but you knew that tone all too well.
You glance at him “it's a party isn’t it.”
Lilah shoots you a nervous look, the tension between you two wasn't subtle.
Eunwoo’s smile avoids his eyes “Sure, but maybe try pacing yourself? You don't want to cause a scene.”
The comment angered you, he knew what he was doing, and even with all those drinks in you don’t let him see that it's getting to you.
You force a tight smile “Don’t worry E I’ll make sure not to embarrass you in front of your friends.” you lean down to kiss his cheek; you couldn’t tell if that was you or the alcohol.
Its silent between you two, the tension suffocating and you feel as though you're balancing on the edge of a knife.
Eunwoo hasn’t moved from his spot, watching you with an expression somewhere between annoyance and amusement. He doesn’t speak but the look in his eyes says enough.
Jungkook, meanwhile, has grown quieter, his eyes flickering between you and Eunwoo, like he’s trying to decide whether he should step in our just stay out of it, ultimately deciding to stay out of it knowing if he said anything, thing would get worse.
“I’m gonna go mingle.”
-----
The drinks hitting you hard at this point. You had lost Lilah, unaware that she had left an hour ago. You found yourself in the middle of the room surrounded by people you barely knew, you spoke to anyone that would listen. Laughing too loud at jokes you didn’t even understand, swaying to the music even if no one around you was dancing.
Eunwoo had been watching you like a hawk, that same scowl on his face.
You weren’t trying to get a rise out of him, but when you catch a glimpse of him from across the room sitting bitterly on the couch, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
You planted yourself amongst a new group, laughing as you fumble with the rules of the game. You throw back another shot at your loss. Your cheeks were flushed and words slurred, but you still were able to keep the attention of the group.
“Y/N.” Eunwoo calls out sharply.
Jungkook notices the shift immediately, his gaze flicking between you and Eunwoo. He can sense the tension brewing, the storm about to break.
One of the guys in the group cracks a joke, causing you to throw you head back and swat his arm playfully.
It was harmless, no hint of flirtatious undertones at all, but for Eunwoo it was his final straw.
He pushes himself off the couch angrily making his way towards you. When you see him the smile on your face drops. You feel his hand wrap around your wrist before he drags you to the backyard.
The cold air hit your skin like mini-ice daggers, you force your wrist out of his grip and cross your arms glaring at him.
“What's your issue?” you asked, your voice sharp with annoyance.
Eunwoo stood there, breathing heavily, the anger radiating from him in waves. “What the hell was that Y/N?” His voice was low but filled with frustration,
“What are you talking about Eunwoo.” you say, your voice had grown restless, you were tired of arguing with him all day, all you wanted was a fun day full of no worries. With Eunwoo it seemed like you could never catch a break, like a gray rain cloud had been following you all day.
“Don’t play dumb” he snapped “You’re in there making a damn fool of yourself, you don’t see how stupid you look? You're stumbling around because you can't handle your fucking liquor and throwing yourself at how many random guys?”
His words had temporarily snapped you out of your drunken haze.
You let out a short laugh in disbelief “Oh my god is that what this is about? Because I laughed at a stupid fucking joke? You’re ridiculous Eunwoo.”
A quick flash of anger beamed through his eyes “I’m the ridiculous one? You’re in there acting like you don’t even have a boyfriend, do you understand how that makes me feel?” his voice cutting through the air like a blade.
“How it makes you feel?” you repeated, voice rising. “You're constantly watching me like a fucking hawk. God forbid I have a normal conversation with a group of people. This is insane.”
“You don't get it so you. Of course you don't because you don't think.” he says pointing to his temple. “You look desperate”.
“Desperate?” Not the first time he’s said it to you, and it was still like a slap to the face, and for a moment, you weren’t sure whether to laugh or scream. “For laughing at a joke? Are you serious?”
“Do I look like I’m kidding.” he deadpanned. “You think I’m supposed to stand here and take it while you go off and flirt with some asshole?”
You felt a surge of anger flood your chest, your heart racing with frustration. “What do you want from me, Eunwoo? An apology?”
“It’s the least you could do,” he said, his tone demanding.
“Well, you're not getting one.” The words were out of your mouth before you even realized it, a sharp finality to them.
His eyes widened, and you saw the anger flare in his gaze. “What?”
“I said,” you repeated, your voice steady, “you’re not getting one.” You shrugged, your arms crossing over your chest once again. “I’m not apologizing for enjoying myself, Eunwoo. Your insecurities are not my problem.”
“Enjoy yourself all you want, but don’t drag me down with you.” his tone was cold, his words laced with hidden undertones.
“How do I possibly drag you down? Do you hear yourself?” you were in disbelief. “I. Laughed. At. A. Joke” you say emphasizing each word hoping he would listen to you just for once.
“People don’t see it that way,” he replied, his tone dripping with condescension. “They see a girl who clearly doesn’t respect her boyfriend enough to—”
“Respect you?” You interrupted him, your voice sharp with bitterness. “Eunwoo, you’ve been disrespecting me all fucking day.”
“You’re not listening.” his voice softening, you took that as nothing but a warning. “I’m trying to protect what we have, you never think before you act, and I'm the one that's always stuck cleaning your mess” he sounded genuine, like he cared but you knew that tone all too well, you knew him all too well.
“Mess? What fucking mess Eunwoo. You’re the one making this something it's not” you say poking his chest. “I was having fun, and you just couldn’t stand the fact that it didn’t revolve around you.”
His jaw clenched. “You’re drunk,” his tone cold. “You don’t even know what you’re saying”
“No, I know exactly what I’m saying, if you can’t handle me having friends, that’s on you.” You say folding your arms once again.
The silence between you two was thick, almost suffocating. Eunwoo stood tall, towering over you, his gaze cold. For a moment, it seemed like he might lash out, but then he just scoffed, shaking his head as he turned to leave.
“You know what, do what you want y/n.” He says before turning and walking away, leaving you standing there, tears threatening to spill from your eyes.
You couldn't tell if they were sad or angry tears.
You couldn’t believe the way he had been treating you today, the comments, the pure disgust in his eyes whenever he looked at you, picking petty fights. The weight of it all had come crashing down on you. You decided to make your way towards the bathroom to regain composure.
Meanwhile, Eunwoo returns to Jungkook and the friends he had spotted earlier in the night. The only one that seemed to notice Eunwoo’s demeanor was Jungkook. He wasn’t stupid, he saw the way Eunwoo stormed over to you and drag you outside, he didn’t fix his gaze back on Eunwoo until he saw you storm back inside either.
“I'm out.” His voice calmer but still has that rough edge to it.
Jungkook’s eyebrows furrow in confusion, “you’re just leaving her here?”
“Clearly she can handle herself.” He says sharply before making his way out.
Inside the bathroom, you stood before the mirror, your face flushed from the tears you had wiped away. The kissy faces you made to your reflection were a sad attempt to hold it together, but the moment you stepped out of the bathroom, Jungkook was there.
“Eunwoo left.” he muttered, his voice soft, stepping on eggshells with the information.
Your chest tightened, but you shrugged, “Figures, where’s Lilah?”
“She left a while ago, she said she had something to take care of.” you nod “Hey,” he said voice low “You ok?”
You let out a breath, forcing a small smile “Yeah,” you lied “Just needed a minute.”
Jungkook didn’t look convinced. He studied you for a moment before exhaling. “Come on,” he said, nudging your arm lightly. “I'm gonna take you home.”
“No.” you say shaking your head, “I told him I wasn’t gonna let him ruin my night and I meant it.” you say.
Before he had the chance to argue, you made a beeline for the kitchen for the third time that night.
Jungkook followed close behind, his footsteps deliberate, but by the time he reached you, you had already thrown back another shot, numb to the sting. The burn down your throat was fleeting, drowned by the heavy buzz in your head. Before you could reach for another, Jungkook’s hand closed around your wrist, halting your movements with a firm grip.
“That’s enough,” he said, his voice tight, strained, as if holding onto the edge of his own patience.
Your brow furrowed, your body buzzing in ways that had nothing to do with the alcohol. “And? It’s just one more, Jungkook. Please, Af—”
“No.” His tone was final, sharp. “You’re already wasted.”
You huffed, exhaling sharply through your nose. You didn’t care. Not now. Not tonight. “And?” you said, trying to shake him off, your limbs sluggish as you swayed slightly on your feet. “I’m having fun.”
Jungkook scoffed, jaw clenching. “This isn’t fun. It’s self-destruction.”
You huffed, rolling your eyes before reaching for the shot with your free hand. But Jungkook was faster, he grabbed the glass and downed it himself in one quick motion, slamming it back onto the counter with an unmistakable finality.
Your mouth dropped open. “What the hell?”
He stared at you, his gaze unwavering, steady. “There. Now you’re done,” he said simply, voice stern.
You yanked your wrist from his grip, staggering back a step. “I don’t need a babysitter, Jungkook. I’m fine. I can handle myself.”
“You’re five seconds from face-planting into the counter,” Jungkook shot back, his eyes filled with a mixture of concern and something else, protective. “Seriously, no more.”
The silence between you stretched, heavy and suffocating. Jungkook stood motionless, his gaze fixed on you, his expression unreadable. The weight of his stare made your chest tight, something unfamiliar stirring inside you, but you ignored it, too proud to acknowledge it. With a sharp inhale, you turned away from him, heading back into the thrumming chaos of the party before he could stop you.
The music seemed to pulse louder now, the bass thumping in your chest, making the room feel like it was vibrating. People swarmed around you, a blur of bodies and flashing lights, all of it blending together into a dizzying kaleidoscope. You threw your head back, letting the rhythm guide you, arms lifting above your head, swaying with reckless abandon. You closed your eyes, letting the alcohol sink deeper into your system, numbing the edges of everything, quieting the loud voices in your mind.
But even in the haze, you could feel Jungkook’s eyes on you, locked onto you from across the room. You didn’t look at him, didn’t acknowledge the way he was watching, but you could feel it, like a weight pressing down on your shoulders, always there, always hovering just out of reach.
You didn’t care. At least, not until someone else stepped into your space.
“Hey,” a voice slurred near your ear, thick with alcohol. “You’re looking a little lonely over here.”
You blinked, trying to focus on the figure in front of you. Your vision swam, the lights flashing in dizzying patterns that made it harder to think. Your body swayed, and the buzz in your head deepened, dulling your thoughts. The guy before you grinned, a smirk curling on his lips, his breath hot against your skin as he leaned in closer.
“I’m fine,” you muttered, voice low, your attempt to push past him weak and uncoordinated. Your drink felt bitter on your tongue, the taste stale, and you wanted nothing more than to leave, but your body betrayed you, unwilling to move the way you wanted.
But he didn’t take the hint. No, he just stepped closer, his hand brushing your arm, his fingers lingering too long. “Come on, don’t be like that,” he said, his voice soft and coaxing, but there was an edge to it now, a possessive undertone. “What’s your name, sweetheart?”
Your stomach churned, unease creeping up your spine like an invisible hand wrapping around your throat.
“Not interested,” you muttered, your body swaying as you tried to step around him. But the guy blocked your path, his smirk only growing wider as he closed the gap between you.
“Relax,” he said, his voice far too smooth, his fingers curling around your wrist with a light pressure. “I’m just trying to have a conversation.”
Your eyes go back to where Jungkook stood, he was gone. You turn back to try to form a response, before your mind could process what was happening, the air around you shifted. A new presence cut through the tension, the weight of it unmistakable.
“Conversation’s over.”
The voice was low, deep, unmistakably Jungkook’s. You froze, the room suddenly feeling colder, quieter, as you turned slowly to see Jungkook standing there, his posture rigid, his eyes dark with intent.
The guy, taken off guard, faltered, his smirk quickly disappearing as he faced Jungkook. But Jungkook didn’t budge, his stance casual on the surface, yet something about the way he held himself, the way his jaw clenched, told a different story—one of danger, one of warning.
The guy’s eyes flicked between the two of you, hesitation creeping into his expression, before he let out a half-hearted laugh and raised his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. No need to get all worked up.”
“Then walk away,” Jungkook said, his voice calm, but there was a weight to the command that made the guy’s smirk falter once more.
For a beat, the guy hesitated, looking at Jungkook with a mixture of disbelief and irritation, as if he couldn’t believe someone would dare challenge him. Finally, he seemed to realize that this wasn’t a fight he was going to win. With a scoff, he stepped back, giving you one last look before disappearing into the crowd without another word.
Jungkook let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding, running a hand over his face as his shoulders relaxed just slightly. But when his gaze found you again, his expression softened, the tension still present but now laced with concern.
“Come on. Let’s go,” he said, his voice gentler now, but still firm.
You opened your mouth to protest, to say something, anything, but before you could even get the words out, your body betrayed you. The world tilted, and the room spun around you. Your vision narrowed, darkness creeping in from the edges. The buzzing in your head intensified, and your knees buckled, threatening to give way under you.
Strong hands caught you before you could hit the ground.
Jungkook’s arms were around you, lifting you with ease, his voice no longer just concerned but filled with a hard finality. “Alright, that’s it,” he muttered, his tone clipped, no longer gentle. “You’re done, Y/N.”
You groaned, trying to push him away, but your limbs felt heavy, your body like dead weight against him. “Jungkook, let go-”
“No,” he replied simply, his voice unwavering as he guided you toward the door, his grip never loosening. “You’re done.”
Outside, the cold night air slapped your skin, the chill against your heated body a sharp contrast. You shivered, your muscles aching as exhaustion finally caught up with you, dragging you down.
Jungkook didn’t release you until you reached his car. Even then, he only let go to open the passenger door, his expression hard, unreadable.
“Get in,” he ordered, his voice carrying a weight of finality.
You crossed your arms over your chest, swaying slightly as you tried to gather yourself. “I said I don’t need you to babysit me, Jungkook.”
He scoffed, the sound laced with exasperation. “Yeah? Then walk in a straight line for me.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but the words died on your tongue. Your legs wobbled beneath you, your head still spinning, and suddenly, everything was too much to handle. Your body refused to cooperate.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow, waiting.
With a sigh, you gave in, stumbling into the passenger seat. “That’s what I thought,” he muttered, shutting the door behind you before walking around to the driver’s side.
The engine roared to life, and the weight of everything hit you all at once—the party was over, Eunwoo had disappeared, and the only one left looking out for you was Jungkook.
Your chest tightened, but you shoved the feeling down, ignoring the sting.
You leaned your head against the cold window, the glass cool against your skin, you spoke barely above a whisper. “Thanks for taking me home, Jungkook.”
He glanced at you, his expression unreadable, but there was something softer in his gaze now, something warmer.
“Yeah,” he said, his voice quieter, almost distant. “Anytime.”
The bumpiness of the car ride enhancing your dizziness, you close your eyes leaving you with nothing but your thoughts.
Your mind spinning, going back to the guy creeping a little too close to you, you were drunk and if it weren’t for Jungkook who knows what could have happened. A flood of Eunwoo’s words clouded your mind, you couldn’t stop hearing it, his voice harsh and accusing. Maybe it was your fault. The outfit, the attention, it was all too much wasn’t it. You wish you could take it all back. Maybe if you hadn’t laughed so much, accepted those drinks, smiled at the wrong people Maybe if you hadn’t worn the skirt, none of this would have happened.
Maybe Eunwoo was right
“What?”
Too lost in thought, you dont realize that the thought had slipped from your lips.
Jungkook’s eyes flicked to you for a moment, then back to the road, but he heard you. His voice was quiet, but there was a softness to it, like he could sense the weight behind your words.
You squeezed your eyes shut, regretting saying it aloud. “Nothing,” you muttered, voice barely above the hum of the car.
But Jungkook wasn’t letting it go. “Eunwoo was right about what?”
His tone was different now, laced with something unreadable, concern? Frustration? You weren’t sure, but you felt the shift in the air. He wasn’t asking just to ask. He needed to know.
You exhaled sharply, feeling defeated. There was no point in lying. “He said I looked like a slut,” you admitted, voice hollow. “And that I was basically asking for it in my outfit.”
Silence filled the car, thick and suffocating. You didn’t need to look at Jungkook to know what he was thinking. The subtle change in his breathing, the tension rolling off him in waves—it was enough to tell you everything.
When he finally spoke, his voice was softer yet filled with unwavering resolve. “That’s bullshit.”
Your eyes flickered open, turning to him in surprise. Jungkook rarely cursed.
He shook his head slightly, jaw tight. “I don’t care what you were wearing, Y/N. That doesn’t give anyone the right to treat you like that. You’re worth so much more than that.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat, trying to ignore the way his words made your chest ache.
The weight of unspoken emotions lingered in the air between you. You wanted to thank him, to say something to ease the suffocating tension, but your voice refused to cooperate. Instead, you stared at your hands, fingers curling into the fabric of your skirt.
Jungkook hesitated before speaking again, his voice quieter now. “Is that why you were drinking so much?”
You stiffened. It wasn’t just about tonight, wasn’t just about Eunwoo, but his words had been the final shove off the edge.
You hesitated before whispering, “Part of the reason.”
He let out a small sigh, nodding as if he understood. And maybe he did. Maybe that’s what scared you the most.
“You didn’t need to do that,” he murmured.
Your brows furrowed. “Do what?”
“Drink till you forget.”
The car hummed quietly, Jungkook’s words lingering between you, sinking in deep. You felt exposed under his gaze, but for the first time in a long time, it didn’t feel like judgment. It felt like he actually cared.
“I know... I just—” you paused, taking a shaky breath. “I didn’t know how to handle it all. It got so overwhelming, and I was looking for an escape.”
Jungkook didn’t say anything right away. He let your words settle, giving you the space to breathe, to find your way through the mess of thoughts clouding your mind. His silence wasn’t pressing; it was comforting, a quiet assurance that he wasn’t going anywhere.
“I know I shouldn’t have,” you admitted softly, voice barely above a whisper. “But it was easier than facing it all.”
Finally, Jungkook spoke, his voice steady yet filled with warmth. “Like I said, Y/N, you didn’t have to do that. We both got ourselves in this situation. You don’t have to carry this all on your own.”
You turned your head slightly, meeting his gaze for the briefest moment. There was something in his eyes, something steady and unwavering. He wasn’t just saying words to make you feel better. He meant them.
Eunwoo had never looked at you like that. Never made you feel like you weren’t at fault, like you weren’t constantly walking on eggshells, waiting for the next sharp comment, the next wave of disapproval.
Jungkook was different.
And for some reason, that realization was both comforting and terrifying all at once.
That was the last thing you remembered before the exhaustion finally won, your body succumbing to the quiet hum of the car, the warmth of his presence the only thing anchoring you as sleep pulled you under.
-----
Your head was pounding, body heavy with exhaustion. The filtered sunlight beaming through your curtains still felt bright causing you to wince as you sat up. Everything felt like a distant blur, coming back in fragments, the party, Eunwoo...Jungkook.
You rub your temples trying to soothe some of the nausea flowing through you, your eyes landed on your dresser, a bottle of pain killers and a glass of water sat beside your phone, almost as if someone thought for you. It’s funny, you don’t remember setting them there.
Grabbing your phone you squint at the screen, scrolling through the notifications you had missed, nothing from Eunwoo. No check in, no apology, not even an angry text. It was the usual, messages from friends, random updates, but nothing from him.
What caught your attention was the notification from an unknown number.
UNKNOWN:
Just think about it
You stare at the message as the realization hits. It was Jungkook. You knew he brought you home but the last thing you remember was falling asleep in his car. You weren’t sure why this made your chest tighten, but as you stared at the message only one thought lingered through your mind-- why did he care so much?
YOU:
Whats there to think about?
Jungkook we both know ts can’t happen again its messed up
ur with her and I'm with him
thats not something we can just brush off.
A few seconds pass before you see the three bubbles pop up, signaling he’s typing. You lean back against your headboard, the soft pulse still beating in your temples. You try to focus, but your mind keeps lingering back to last night, the party, the alcohol, the conversation, the way Jungkook looked at you when he drove you home, the way he protected you.
UNKNOWN:
Ik its complicated but I'm not gonna act like nothing happened between us
I couldn’t even if I wanted to
And ik you can't either.
You hated that fact that he was right, the desire to push it all away, ignore it all was strong, but the pull towards him was stronger. The way you felt when he kissed you, the way he touched you, the way all your troubles faded when you were with him--
Thats exactly why you couldn’t do this.
YOU:
its not that simple Jungkook
you know that.
The bubbles pop up again then disappear, anxiety starting to creep in
UNKNOWN:
Ik.
But I cant stop thinking abt it
Or abt you
You take a deep breath, everything weighing in your mind, your fingers hover over the screen, your pulse quickening as you type out a response. You didn’t know what you were doing but no matter how much you tried to fight it, you couldn't anymore. Especially not when everything you’ve been holding in is waiting to be released.
YOU:
fine.
ill think about it
but thats all I can do right now.
You hit send before you can overthink it all, it's simple, but enough. You weren’t sure if you were just giving into something that you can’t control, but you couldn’t ignore how much you wanted him, not anymore.
You toss your phone down on the bed, swallowing hard, is the risk worth it? Are you willing to possibly throw away everything you had with your best friend and boyfriend?
Before you can fully collect your thoughts, your phone dings.
E♄:
Hey baby, I'm sorry for the way I acted yesterday, let me make it up to you?
You stare at the message. A wave of guilt crashing over you as the tension in your chest tightens. You hadn’t heard from him since he left you at the party, and here he was apologizing, wanting to make things right.
And you were here, Thinking about his best friend.

Pokes u
Do you have Barnacles Headcanons to share with his wife (aka me)
Tumblr media
YES also sorry for the late response lol uhhh this is mostly just stuff from my au lol and its got different world building than the show does
Ok first off some context, in my au the reasons for PEOPLE species to have different traits is more based on environmental factors and conflicts between other groups of people. 👌
There are definitely some wild species that aren't even intelligent enough to have nearly any sapience (in simple terms its self awareness) that would probably end up being food or wtv, but like going based off of irl stuff polar bears mostly need high fat diets and unless there are a TON extra of high fat food fish thatd make the arctic pretty hard to survive
Unless ofc 👀 well they are PEOPLE people so u can convince me they'd have somehow domesticated either musk or (hoofed arctic animal) or bred some other kind of milk producing animal as a source of food
All I'm saying is that he could and would and has eaten an entire wheel of cheese before
And he absolutely has a secret stash of high fat snacks because I think he might be a liiiiittttle bit self conscious about it
Because he realized that arctic animals and non arctic animals have HUGE differences in social norms and apparently most animals don't have at least 3 inches of fat minimum on their entire body???
And its not cuz hes embarrassed of the fat, its normal and healthy, he just doesn't want to go from Trustworthy and Reliable Captain of thr Octonauts to "oh my god i need like an entire cheesecake rn to feel normal" in front of everyone cuz like 😭 he is a bit of a comfort eater. Like ah yes our strong and level headed captain is eating an entire box of oreos at 2 am because he misses his sister again 😭
Ofc the others do find out but there isn't any judgement if anything kwazii would probably join him, bro has a history of having weird food habits (hm wonder why... surely nothing related to being shipwrecked on an island and having to survive) and its nice
He does like, have THE best snacks tho and he might be hoarding them just a tiny bit-
he also can feel a bit worried about coming off as too large or intimidating so thats why he's always got his hands on his hips- and his head lowered down a bit
its not that he seems like physically scary but a larger presence can be intimidating for a lot of people
Teeth and claws aren't usually seen as intimidating in most scenarios in this world because its so common and is just like a feature of the species the same way hearing or smell can be btw
so yeah someone threatening to scratch ya can be scary but so can someone being able to find you because they can hear ur heartbeat 💀🙏
Back to the main point, like all the other octonauts aren't even like medium sized animals (like wolves and whatever), there ALL very small species. So hes like way in the upper range, the highest and tallest possible species while everyone else are all smaller ones specifically
So if barnacles is Actually Mad (💀 the scenario to make him genuinely mad has to be BAD) then he will go to his FULL HEIGHT
Cuz irl polar bears got very tall strong necks and etc so I think him standing at Full Serious Height would be very startling
Also about polar bears sense of smell!
Circling back to the adaptations being related to survival pressures and social ones
Polar bears in this world, use their sense of smell for something very important in the arctic: navigation, above and below water
It prevents things like getting lost in the wintery white world, which is so so easy for others. It can help find others than might be lost, and it can tell u if they r injured or not and I think thats precious
there is one problem tho, while their sense of smell is VERY strong, stronger than bloodhounds and etc, its made for being able to detect things very far away in freezing temperatures... so they're extremely sensitive
Which wouldn't be that much of an issue if barnacles wasn't in all sorts of more tropical environments...
In thr artic all u can smell is other people, animals, and which was is home
But if he's not in the octopod or under the water, but somewhere where there's THOUSANDS of insects, hundreds of pollinating plants, and tons and tons of different creatures all at once-
I think thats be overwhelming and he's probably be allergic to sooooooo many plants poor guy đŸ„ș
Also even tho he like trims and thins out his thick coat, and even has a little cooling pack vest sort of thing under his uniform he can still overheat pretty easily
Cuz yk, the several inches of brown fat or blubber? Someone might say "hey just adjust ur diet and whatever to lose it" but that would be VERY UNHEALTHY for him... mess with the balance of his bodys systems yk? so its really not an option;^;
So yeah he still tends to overheat and thats why having his room canoncially set to actual arctic temperatures every night helps him sleep better and feel better
Usually alot of octonauts missions happen under water or in gups or maybe they'll spend some time on an island and it'll be hot
But with extended time spent in warmer climates he has to take alot more breaks and it can be alot harder for him
Also I think that he had a period in his early 20s college years where he was like kinda lowkey depressed because he was learning more about global warming and capitalism
, it didn't last too long fortunately because yk he met professor inkling who was already developing his idea for the octonauts
and they actuslly became really good friends and it really came together as a realistic thing when tweak got wind of em
On a more depressing note global warming for polar bears in a world where they're actual people with a unique culture and heritage means some totally different stuff
Like its not even the fact they can't even engage in their own cultural traditions (cough traveling in that one arctic global warming special where they were all exhausted cuz all the melted sea ice cough)
Its also the loss of genuine homes (in my au they're kinda like ice hobbit houses đŸ„°since polar bears irl will dig out shallow resting spots or mama bears will have dens with a toasty 30 degrees farenheit), architectural collapses, traditional jobs that can only be done in the arctic being lost, and being forced into more southern grounds because more and more just can't rely living there anymore
And I think that'd be super depressing to see in real time, its a cultural death
Heck even irl there's so many grizzlies going north and polar going south that they've actually started to mix and start having hybrids (grolar bears). And the thing is they're so genetically compatible that their species can actually develope into their own separate identity that might totally replace most if not all polar bears sense they're just more adapt to the changing climate and have more range, with benefits from both species
And while that sounds great on paper and makes sense and is obviously fine for them to have easier lives, I think in thr context of this world it would leave barnacles with some conflicted feelings
Because the thing is there used to be concerns about polar bears having to leave their homes to live is societies and communities that just... that their jobs wouldn't fit to. That would be physically harder for them to be healthy in. That they'd have to give up so many thousands of years of traditions thatd be impossible to carry over in.
Idk its late and I've got one braincell and idk if this makes sense and im sorry if it got depressing 😭
But yeah, so there's more and more of these younger people grolar bears, that just... will never have that full connection to their heritage. And idk I think its sad and maybe I'm projecting
Also I think that if barnacles was ever sad he'd just cope by playing the accordian lol, like the one meme of the girl playing "its a mental breakdown ✹" on a kazoo 😭
Let's end this on a happier note tho, circling back to barnacles being several feet taller than his entire crew, like-
We all already know this guy emotionally adopts every living being in sight
And well, his ENTIRE CREW literally, and I mean very literally and physically, looks up to him-
Like they all gotta turn their heads up and loon at him with big hopeful eyes ready for whatever he has to say
And im gonna be honest his composure is alot stronger than mine cux I would CRY because of how adorable that is
Like he knows its probably so unprofessional and might be seen as condescending BUT DAMN IT HE CANT HELP THR CUTENESS AGRESSION!!! HE WANTS TO SQUISH THEIR TINY FACES!!!
so sometimes hell have a very Serious and Leadership-like Captain Conversation, and then thr SECOND hes out of their sight (and hopefully hearing) HE JUST HAS TO STOP HIMSELF FROM JUST CRYING-
Cuz the second hes out of sight he will LOSE ALL COMPOSURE and need a minute because he loves them so much AND THEYRE SO FCKING SMALL-
Its kinda funny tho cuz ur captain barnacles is a pretty tiny guy, wonder howd that work for u XD
Anyways gn or whatever time it is for u đŸ»â€â„ïžâœšâœšâœš
Also he and Bianca call at least every week for an hour and frequently send eachother updates about what they're up to
He could talk to her about anything and she's good at talking sense into him
He makes sure that natquick gets plenty of social interaction too, that man is like his father figure
(Kinda sad but I headcanon barnacles dad died when he was really young cuz of an accident where ice collapsed, probably did not help how he felt when he got stuck in an icy hole as a kid 💀🙏)
ALSO

Flower Empowered.
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#lan wangji#wei wuxian#lan wunian#The absolute chaos that ensued when Lan Wangji showed up...those girls went wild.#We have to give kudos to narration that takes the form of a bunch of suitor seeking ladies.#They were so loud about being here for the hotties and whispering gossip. You go girls.#Wei Wuxian most likely just picked up a already tossed flower to throw. Second hand flowers...are still flowers I suppose.#Can you imagine if LWJ had allergies? Poor lad.#Okay it's time for the real gritty discussion point. The one everyone is waiting for me to talk about:#So...from where we are in the timeline...what the hell is WWX supposed to be wearing?#I'm serious. Put all the fanart out of your brain for a moment.#We are post burial grounds and sunshot campaign so he's had his little goth moment reveal.#*BUT* he is still with the Jiang sect. And by proxy of this flashback talking about his disrespect - they never bring up his attire.#meaning he is likely in some kind of Jiang Purple.#Continuity wise it really feels like this scene should have been *before* the burial mounds.#I understand why it's post - we need to build up on the mystery of how he became the YLLZ.#But also his personality feels way more 'pre-burial mounds WWX'. I think this was probably a 'I don't want to kill my darling' scene.#(The Phoenix mountain flashback is a lot of people's 'darling'. I am knowingly putting myself in the line of fire here).#I'm willingly putting him in Wen Qing's borrowed cloak and assuming people take him wearing it as like...a war trophy.#Historians will revise this moment later on but for now he *is* a hero of that war.

"Louis acting like a pimp to Armand" And what is a pimp exactly? Quickly. And, oh so sexual trauma survivors can't engage in kink now without it being all about that? Pet names? They can't be submissive anymore? Consensually? Sexually healthy? Be serious. I'd hardly say there's much power difference between them during all this anyway, except that Louis is freer than Armand and it's been putting a strain on their relationship. Louis wants more from Armand, and less of this 'being his past' for them both, and so helping Armand with this could fix that. It's healthy to want to help your partners get out of a rough patch?
I mean, the whole exchange was very clearly set up as a "I want to help you" after such a great moment of vulnerability Louis feels just how much Armand is desperate for it. Louis called Armand so they could work out a plan together.
And the bit with the umbrella was Louis' way of asking 'are you willing to listen to me?' and Armand said yes by unfolding it. Louis goes on and explains, Armand is allowed to argue against it, but Louis makes his point. And then he gives Armand a way to make his own choice in it too. Armand's already decided 'I want you, more than anything else in the world', but Louis still asks after if he's sure of his choice, and with a name, Arun, that is the one of his fullest agency, running the point home. Honoring the situation Armand calls Louis Maitre - as a way of being like 'I'll do as you've said then'. To make this work he's going to have to give Louis some of the control, yes. But it's the first time such a role is ever established, and it was his choice to do it. So so what if they do it in a very suggestive way? They can't like doing that? I think it's them having fun.
I struggle to find how Louis is being overly domineering here when really he's giving and offering Armand the most agency he's ever had. Same with finding it manipulative. The manipulation was more earlier in the episode I think, when he was stringing him along, giving mixed signals. He's no longer toying with him like that. Louis might be pushing Armand, leading him on to make a decision, but he doesn't mean bad by it.
But back to this pimp thing. I find it frankly offensive that this is where people are going with this. I get it, but to run with it being the case is, on many levels, wrong.
Louis told us episode 1 this was the only sustainable line of work to support his family and keep their standing, at the time. It was never his choice to be doing this either but his blackness allowed no other options. He did what he did so his family could stay in that house and maintain all their same comforts. It gave him privileges most black men didn't have at the time that he wanted to maintain and even have more of. Anyway, it doesn't and had never defined him the way 'being good at running things' had. And in that case he just likes having that kind of control where he can get it, which makes sense.
The world is what placed that kind of role onto him of what he was allowed to be able to run, not himself. And on that he actually treated the sex workers he employed well and respected them enough to give them more opportunity.** He recognizes they don't have much in the way of options either.
Louis employed sex workers, yes, but he didn't subject them to abuse, (like how Armand was)*. He didn't oversee things in a way that would go against their consent (see; episode 1 again)**. Sometimes a job is just a job. And Sex work is work.
Armand's particular past with sexual abuses may strike a particular cord with Louis, given all that, but the very last thing either is thinking is that Louis' pimping Armand out here. This is merely their decision as companions, and had nothing to do with adding another line in a laundry list of selling Armands body out to people at the command of someone else. Armand rescinds some of his control to Louis' wishes, because he wants him, and he trusts him, that's all.
If you aren't allowing Armand that choice, and are doubtful it's fully his, you're putting him right back in the box of being defined by his abuses. Putting him back into that space where he isn't given any agency over what he does. (Which is exactly opposite of what the intent of this scene is for)*.
*: (edit) added for clarity.
**: (strike through) numerous people are saying I'm misremembering these points so disregard it. (Thought he was siding with Bricks, it was the other way around). (Technically one aspect of those opportunities were for getting around the law). I don't have a perfect memory, it happens. Let's not get mad about it. Doesn't change much of the point which is that Louis, now, Louis then, was always considering more about the running things and for stated purposes. So I guess I'd say he may only have respected the SWers enough sometimes for what allowed him to do that, and there are moments he certainly expressed remorse over the fact, but he has a great deal higher respect for Armand that is genuine. It's incomparable. Please read my added notes in the tags, it should address most other concerns.
#amc iwtv#iwtv spoilers#iwtv season 2#Loumand#louis du pointe du lac#armand#interview with the vampire#IWTV#Many people are ranting about this but I'm throwing my hat in too#signed someone who went through csa and is close friends with many swers#long rant#noticing spelling errors in this after posting ffff#added note: I'm not saying armand and louis dynamic is without it's flaws or that louis was somehow without his exploitation and faults#while he was a pimp#as a pimp though he certainly wasn't going about it in the same way as what had happened in the brothel or with marius#I more so say that their very actions are of a healthier dynamic than that this is true even if they themselves are not exactly so#all for nuanced and messed up relationships that run everywhere in this show#But I still don't see it as that specific dynamic I wouldn't call it that there's just an amount of that dominence at play#neither want to be tethered to the roles they've been playing previously and they aren't entirely different for it but#are still arriving to this idea of needing something new to define themselves by and something they both want#they're exploring with this companionship that they're still trying to get a feel for#we as an audience might know they never do fully work their shit out and so are doomed but they don't at that point#last thing I guess is that I am not here to start shit it's fictional and not that serious 4 me 2 care enough 2 go after any1#not individually no#These are just my thoughts#I heavily caution using this idea of it being like the pimp 'jumped out' or whatever for reasons above#and its racist implications as others have said more bluntly (I've implied it)

just got a dm abt one of my posts and y'all please don't try and show the hermits (or any minecraft youtuber or content creator for that matter) my posts, i'm uncomfortable with it and don't want any of my posts shown to a cc. if they stumble upon it naturally that's unfortunate but i can live with it since i do maintag a lot (something i REALLY need to stop doing tbh i already know i need to make a tagging system just for my blog that wont clog results) but going out of ur way to show a cc is entirely different and something i am not comfortable with.
no hate to the person at all but even if i wasn't a little silly and weird with it sometimes i wouldn't be comfortable with it, i want my blog to be a purely fandom only space with none of the creators involved <3 please respect this
#which is imo how a fandom space should be#i'm old fashioned and it breaks the fandom etiquette rules i stand by#i ship and stuff and absolutely NO cc needs to be subjected to that please and thank you even if it's a non-ship post#not saying hermits and others cant hang out and interact if they wish hell no but like....#if you as any person with a following willingly go into a fandom space you have to expect to see some things you find weird#doesn't even necessarily mean ship just stuff the cc finds weird :v idk im not phrasing this right but like#the rule with shipping around any sort of media has been to keep it away and not show the creators anything !!! and thats fallen out#of practice the past few years with ppl getting more and more comfortable demanding boundaries and personal info from creators#which isn't right imo bc its like you're trying to see how much you can get away with. u want a guide on how to interact and social skills#which is... huh??? just be polite and keep anything weird away from them like what we were doing#some folks nowadays need “permission” to ship stuff even from SHOWS and shit with no real people and its like wow... huh....#u need it to be canon?? u need everything told to u by the show?? wheres the imagination. the spirit.#the making of everything so far removed from what it once was#like that guy that played nick from heartstopper that had to be outed to play a gay guy. like#idk im so sick of the boundary fandom ppl in mcyt 'what if they saw and made it uncomfortable!! im going to show them!!!!'#you are making them MUCH more uncomfortable than i am by GOING INTO THEIR FACE AND DEMANDING THEY LOOK AT IT!!#AND DEMANDING BOUNDARIES N SHIT... CRAZY.... idk the hermits especially its weird to me bc clearly they understand fandom etiquette#and the dynamic im talking about. most of them understand that by going into fandom spaces they will see things they dont like#which is why a lot of them only like fanart and answer questions asked by fans. even on tumblr !!! where the weird ppl are!!!#they also all seem to understand they are playing characters (citing joel cleo and grian as examples) for their audiences#which is. smth the audience itself doesnt understand most of the time anymore. oh my god they all died in real life in hermitcraft season 8#idk hermitblr used to be a lot more okay with hermitshipping n then a bunch of ppl from other fandoms moved in and its all more negative#and makes me sad. idk...#i never meant for this blog to gain almost 500 followers i just wanted to make silly little ship posts and now im scared to#bc ive gotten hate and its.... bwugh.... tempted to remake blogs and make one thats very clearly just for me and a few weirdos#whatever i went off on a tangent in the tags as usual just pls dont show creators my posts even non-ship ones for this reason#jamies bad posts#talking in tags#serious posts#<- ig??? idk
