I'll tell you what. I've spent the past several days going through this tag. All 224 pages of it. I was angry. I wanted to block every goddamn person that used it. I don't wanna see their shit whether it was AI or not, and I don't want them seeing mine either.

But I learned some things while I was clicking through this, clicking on names, and blocking.

Overall, the content posted under this tag are predictably bland, unimaginative, and uninteresting. I think we all could have figured this one out without looking.

The users that seem to post these almost all strike me as incredibly young. Not all of them, of course, but many admit in so many words that they are high schoolers, often just messing around, as high schoolers often do.

So so SO many of these are marked in their summaries as the poster just mucking about in AI because they were bored, avoiding homework, avoiding sleep. They thought whatever it churned out was funny, or in some cases horrifyingly bad, and posted it to share it. They know it's bad. It is actually very rare for some of them to be earnestly trying to claim it as writing. There's a lot of "oh god what did I/chatgpt/insert AI write?" and "this is so weird and funny" type of tags.

on the other hand, there are a (surprisingly small) handful of them that are clearly fetish content, with extreme or taboo kink. I wonder if the use of AI helps them to separate themselves from the content they decided they wanted to read. Like a way of saying "well I didn't write this, it's the AI". I wonder if it's about shame. Of those kind of pieces, most of those posters only put up a single piece and disappeared.

A loooot of them are marked as "original fiction." As for those that are listed under fandoms, imo the posters have absolute dogshit tastes - in terms of tropes, ships, and plots they chose to prompt AI for.

Some of these aren't even fics, but use AI-generated images to illustrate, to translate from another language, or say they were "inspired by" an AI chat rather than made with it. I'm not saying that's better, but it does change the way I'm looking at that giant number at the top.

A large amount of these are listed under orphan_account. Meaning that whoever wrote it decided, for whatever reason, to disassociate themselves from it. Maybe they got pushback. Maybe they thought better of it. If this many people orphaned their works, I wanna know how many of them deleted them in full

The number is growing, but I suspect that's because this is the parent tag that the tag wranglers are constantly adding to, rather than people posting new AI content. I suspect this because every time they round up more, new names pop up on pages I already went through.

Tbh, coming to these realizations made me feel better about this whole thing. I'm sure there are other fics out there that aren't tagged for it, but this gives a good idea of the kind of content that comes out of AI. And I very deliberately am using the terms "content" and "poster" instead of work, writing, writer, or artist. Because this isn't creative work. It's content churning. It's a crude parlor trick. And even the people that posted these seem to know it.

Those of you that have played with AI. I'm talking to you now. The kind of stuff you're getting out of AI now? I promise you - it is so much better to make your own, and to look for actual writers for something to read.

You can find and write funny crackfic. People have done it for decades. You can come up with weird nonsense and bizarre ooc chaos all on your own. It's so much more satisfying.

If you are looking for angst or romance or horror or whatever to read, there's literally hundreds of thousands of fanfics written by real people that will tell far better stories. The thing is, when a person is telling a story, there's usually a core goal or message they're trying to give. Writing is about communicating something. It's about sharing the things that make your heart sing. It's about putting the things in your head and heart onto paper or a screen so that other people can see those parts too. AI isn't capable of that.

If you have ideas but you don't want to write it yourself, you just want to read it, instead or prompting an AI, consider posting your prompt to a community of other fan artists and writers, here on tumblr or somewhere else. Back on LJ, there were entire promptfill communities. People would post prompts and ideas they had, and others would respond and write them. It was my favorite part of those fandom communities. I miss them terribly. I miss the fics and art and the overflow of creativity. Most of all I miss the connection with others.

And for those of you that do want to write, to communicate ideas of your own, but think that you aren't good enough to write it yourself — I would rather read your own words than anything AI could churn out. Even if you're terrible. Even if you can't string the words together the way you want yet. Bad writing is how you learn to put words to your ideas, your feelings, the things that scare you, the things that make you laugh or cry. The computer will never, ever be able to translate those things onto a page in any way that's authentic, because it's stealing things from other people and scrambling them together. It doesn't create anything. It steals, and then mixes and matches scraps of other people's work to approximate what you asked for, and it's bad at it. It lacks intent and it lacks soul.

The words that you would choose yourself are lost every time you let AI do the work for you. And that's really sad to me. Don't willfully give up your voice. Its the most precious thing you have in this world.

Write it shitty, write it scared, write it without a clue but don't you be so spineless and have an AI write fanfic for you.

it wasn't hard for daniela to get jealous. she could get jealous at someone merely looking at you for a second too long. but those were with people she didn't know. you figured she wouldn't get jealous over something silly like fans shipping you with megan and edits being made of you two.

you were unfortunately wrong.

it's what causes the first real argument in your relationship. you and daniela started dating right after the end of dream academy and the lineup was announced, having feelings for each other during the whole survival show and actually officially dating once it was all over. and it was great. you debuted, you went to kcon, you went on a mini asia tour, and everything was great.

you obviously knew it was easy to get daniela jealous. after debuting and getting popular there would be some celebrities that would try to talk to you or hit on you and she would suddenly appear beside you to drag you off somewhere. but you didn't think she would get jealous because of one of the members who was most definitely not into you.

the fans had grown to like you and megan as a duo, a ship even with some of the edits you've seen on tiktok. to the point where you two were one of the more popular ships in the fandom. you thought it was silly, and you would occasionally giggle at the edits because you didn't take it seriously and you thought it wasn't serious enough to worry about. until daniela saw.

she knows she shouldn't get jealous over it to the point she's essentially ignoring you. but that's just how she is. she knows she can't officially say anything cause management would go ballistic and they'd probably go on hiatus. she knows megan doesn't see you that way. but that's just how she is.

you knew something was wrong when daniela started ignoring you. and that was hard for her, you both knew that. she couldn't stand being away from you, let alone ignore you for days on end leaving you wondering what you did to cause this. so you knew something was seriously wrong then.

the girls noticed it too. the tension that had suddenly grown was odd for them all watching dani ignore you while you would stare with sad eyes trying to figure out what happened. but they couldn't do anything. daniela wouldn't budge on telling anyone anything. so everyone was left in the dark while you had to deal with how to address it.

it was late at night when all the girls were asleep that you decided to confront her on it. she was in the living room reading one of her books when you left your shared room with sophia and yoonchae, which you weren't surprised about. her eyes flickered up from the book only to look back down a second later once seeing it was you.

you slowly approach the couch before sitting down at the edge of it, keeping a distance between you two which the blonde notices. you glance over at her, letting out a sigh before speaking. "can we talk?"

"about what?" daniela responds, her eyes focused on the book but not reading anymore.

"gee i don't know, let's start at you ignoring me," you say, shaking your head and scoffing quietly.

"i'm not ignoring you." daniela's eyes stay fixated on the book, her hands gripping it more tightly in her hands.

"really? that's what you're going to say?" you look at her with furrowed eyebrows. "obviously you're ignoring me, and i don't know why. so please talk to me."

"there's nothing to talk about," daniela mutters.

your lips pursed in a thin line, your irritation starting to become greater at every word she says. without a second thought, you yank the book out of her hands and put it on the table in front of you, seeing her eyes widen as she finally looks at you.

"what the fuck, yn?"

"what the fuck?" you repeat. "what the fuck, daniela? that's what you have to say?"

when daniela's eyes meet yours for the first time in weeks, she can see the mixed emotions in them. you're angry, upset, confused. all because of her. she feels a twang of guilt rush through her at the sight.

"after ignoring me for weeks you're surprised i'm fed up with it?" you shake your head. "look, i don't know what i did, but i can't fix it unless you tell me. why have you been ignoring me?" you ask the question again.

"i'm not ignoring you."

you take a deep breath after her words, your anger starting to bubble up before you speak. "fine," you say, standing up. "if you won't tell me what's going on, then i think we should end this."

"what?" daniela's eyes go wide and her head jerks up to you when you stand, the expression on her face finally changing into something you hadn't seen, panic evident in her eyes. "you're not serious."

you just stare down at her, your arms crossed over your chest. "i am. we can't fix things if you won't say what the problem is. that's for everything. i don't even know what i did, daniela, because you won't tell me. how do i know if it's something serious or something petty like you being jealous? i don't. so yeah, i'm fucking serious," you tell her, your voice and look on your face being enough to tell her you are serious. "if you don't tell me in the next ten seconds then i can assure you this is over."

daniela feels her mouth go dry at your words. you're serious. you're serious about leaving her. she knows you're right. she knows she has to just suck it up and say it. just say it and she won't lose you. just fucking say it.

"i don't like how close you're getting with megan," she blurts out.

the words take a moment to process in your brain, and before you can even think of a response, she's continuing.

"i know she doesn't see you that way and you don't see her that way but i don't like it," she says. "i've seen all the edits, i've seen all the tweets, i mean fuck it's like how much more obvious can i be before people realize that you're with me? i know we can't officially say anything but i can't stand it. i trust you and the girls, of course i do, but what if a pr stunt happens? what if the company says you're dating some random celebrity and i-i'm left behind and you realize you don't really love me and–"

"dani, calm down." you sit down again, closer to her and cupping her face in your hands, cutting her off of her rambling. "are you really jealous over megan of all people? the clingiest girl ever? dani, there's nothing to worry about," you tell her. "it's nothing serious, you should know that. i love you, daniela. okay? even if for some random reason the company does a pr relationship i promise nothing will change between us. so please, stop worrying."

daniela slowly nods along to what you say, her eyes flickering across your face. "i'm sorry for ignoring you," she says in a quiet voice.

"it's alright," you reply, your thumb drawing circles on her cheeks. "i love you," you whisper.

I think there would be much less drama if people could do this:

1. Be both invested into a show and, at the same time, be able to not take themselves 100% seriously.

I'm both forever analysing Mairon and at the same time mercilessly poke fun at him, and enjoy both serious and hilarious takes of others. I would actually be very disappointed if there was no unhinged humour.

2. Take distance from their own takes. I love Mairon, I even feel sorry for him, but I do not pretend he's not a horrible bastard who's hurting people in inexcusable ways. Hence, I'm not going to rage when somebody is not in love with him as I am (which is, to be honest, an approach that makes much more sense, but I don't choose my blorbos, they choose me).

3. Understand that the show is not just about their blorbo / ship.

IN DEFENSE OF PETEKEY

an open letter about a ship everyone knows, but no one ships.

The link between Pete's discography and petekey has consistantly been cited as source of contention among those who would catagorize themselves as 'anti-petekeyers', or at least those who would think of themselves as not petekey aligned.

There is this common notion that most petekeyers are delusional, which while I might argue that RPF in itself is delusional, as RPF is fundamentally a made up fan activity, I think the belief that "petekeyers suck" comes from an outside perspective of the ship that missunderstands the fans within.

There is a term in Chinese fan culture for ships, if something doesn't have many works being created for it, it's called 冷门 - which means that it’s cold, or in slang terms, "the artic circle".

Petekey is straddling this strange place of being a ship that has high notoriety without having a large body of work being created for it anymore; it's very famous, but not contributed too. It is an artic circle ship.

So, unlike Peterick or any other more prominent ship, there is a deficit of work which takes labor; fanart, fanfic, edits, etc. Because creating that work takes double the effort, one must create their own situations and then create their art.

There is very little canonical interactions of petekey. It is an old ship. It requires a lot of work on behalf of the fan to interact with petekey nowadays, and much of that work must exisit outside of the cannonical acceptance if new ideas/content are to be created.

What is easy, and what is simple to digest to the larger population, is the fact that Pete at one point in time probably wrote some LiveJournal posts about Mikey. And what is easy to do is extrapolate that into "XYZ song is about Mikey Way".

"Songs about mikey way" a joke that I believe is easier made and more wide spread among people who don't ship petekey in a genuine way. Within the Petekey tags on fansite, you'll see little of this behavior among people who are actively engaging in the ship in a continuous way.

I have found myself several time staring down a post made as a joke about how "every song is about mikey" with many critial comments about the ship as a whole. I think it is easy to take posts in fandom spaces at face value that their intent is genuine due to the overwhelming presence of genuine and honest love for the media/people at hand.

But fundamentally, we see the abject distaste of petekey in a way that isn't applied to other ships. For an easy comparison you can look to Peterick and the notion that any content can be applied to Peterick without judgement.

Though Peterick is definitavely a more complex ship which encompasses more time between the two members, it is noticeable that same standard of "canon" is not interjected into those who determire what is about them, weather that be in FOB's discography, interviews, or other writings.

We can say many things are about Peterick while containing it within a vaccuum unaffected by any other ship or "canon". One of the typical objections to Petekey posts one might see, is an intejection that whatever romantic notion is detailed, pales in comparison to what Peterick has.

Similarly, due to the prevalence of Pete and Patrick within each other's lives, many fans can write that any given meme, situation, lyric, or other media can be applied to them with relatively no push back. After all, there is a wealth of situations one could use to justify its "canonicalization".

This reliance on the canonicalization of Fall Out Boy lore and the rallying against that which is uncanonical has always been a bit paradoxical. As stated before, RPF has always been a fan created activity for the purpose of self expression.

Shipping, let's use for example, Andy and Pete (or any other "rare parings"), despite their limited romantic expression, is not to be seen as delusional, but rather an endevor of fun that doesn't need canonical text to back it up. Content within these rare-pairs does not recieve the same scrutiny within typical interactions; which one might allign with the notion that these rare pairing are done with fun and jest.

So while we often link the annoyance of petekey to "making lyrics about mikey when they're not" AKA the adherance to "canonical text", I often wonder if it isn't simply the disinterest in petekey altogether due to the fact that it's prevalence has gone stale and contributed little to the marketplace of artistic creation within the past ten years.

You can also see this happening within the MCR community. As MCR contnues to interact less and less, there is a difficulty that comes with creating new works of labor as one must develop their own ideas surrounding the ship. Staleness can often come and permeate fandom.

I find the rise rayard/frikey as an almost counter movement to frerard/rikey which previously was the popular default among fans. There is the artistic desire to explore that which is new in order to open up a door to new artistic explorations.

One of the reasons I started writing fanfic was the lack of fanfiction being produced for petekey which explored new ideas past "doomed yaoi". Many petekey AU fanfics which have gained notoriety were written by authors who have long since left the pekekey fandom altogether, not to mention the amount of half finished works abandoned on AO3.

As I write my own Petekey works, I find myself creating people who are adaptaions of Pete Wentz and Mikey Way. It is an expression of how I, someone who also travels for work and works in entertainment, views relationships and love and life.

It is hard to keep a dead fandom alive. It takes time and authentic love for what you're doing, both of which the larger fandom population would not be exposed to, because one must go looking for it.

The anger and vitrol towards petekey largely seems to be volleying shots at an enemy that has long since left. That which you do not enjoy or are bored with does not make it your enemy.

I encourage those of you who claim to have no ill will towards petekey, to check out some of the lovingly crafted fics instead of focusing on those who have lobbed a tweet or tiktok from a place of irony. These works are rare and and created from a place of authenticity and I am very honored to share a space with them.

i've seen this joke on twitter and tumblr a few times. And in fanfic kyle is often portrayed as being the "least experienced" or more awkward out of the m4. its fine if people like this hc/trope. Ultimately, fanon doesnt have to stick to canon. It's just that your post reminded me of that, so i hopped in here to share my own thoughts.

about kyle actually fumbling nichole. like i said, the situation was already unfavorable for him. kyle didn't have much a chance to fumble from the very start but if thats how you see it, its fair.

im pretty sure this is merely because there wouldnt have been enough time for all that. you kinda have to keep in mind that mattrey only have about 20 minutes to flesh out a whole plot, and their main goal is to deliver jokes, not romantic plotlines.

kyle did ask cartman before to clear the rumors right after finding out about them at the playground (and only kept quiet because cartman manipulated him into it) which already lets us know that kyle didnt like the rumors (or cartman), so a scene where kyle tells nichole about it would have been repetitive.

if you want an in-universe explanation tho, i guess you could say that by the time kyle decided to explain things to nichole he had already given up on trying to date her. Therefore there wasnt much of a point in denying the rumors to her in particular. it wouldnt have changed anything anyway.

and thats really all nichole needed to be told tbh. that alone reveals to her that cartman is racist and not to be trusted (so technically she could infer that everything he told her is a lie) and it is what leads to the conclusion of her arc with tolkien. anything else would have been unnecessary and kind of a waste of screetime

if you mean kyle coming to cartman at the playground, again, its more about mattrey pacing the episode based on whats more funny and entertaining rather than something to look into. like, yeah, had kyle gone to nichole first it could have fixed everything from the start, but we wouldnt have an episode.

plus, i kinda think it was good he went to cartman. cartman was the one who started the rumor after all, so he should be the one to clear kyle's name. and maybe kyle did try to deny the rumors, but the other kids might as well not have believed him.

i did figure the kyman bit was a joke and, like i said, I don't mind the ship, but i was only taking the canon into account for my post. mattrey definitely know and play about kyman in some episodes (the same way they do with other ships like style, bunny, butman, candy, etc), but it hasn't been seriously adressed in canon so, to me, it doesn't count ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i was gonna address the whole s20 thing but i've had this in my drafts for days now so im gonna make it short. from my pov kyle wasn't jealous, he was dubious and suspicious of cartman (reasonably so) and later when he realized cartman was abussive to heidi did he intervine (which is GOOD, its true he could have handled things better, but heidi did need help and his heart was in the right place) him crying over that picture can mean a lot of things, not necessarily that he has secret feelings for cartman.

I love this episode. I appreciate how many crew members we see and how much characterization they get. So much of it is silly, which juxtaposes well with the high stakes and the serious moments.

We get sassy Uhura and her great line of "Sorry, neither" in response to Sulu calling her a fair maiden.

The first mention of Spock's mixed heritage and the conflict he has towards it.

Dutiful Kirk willing to take any risk for the ship but resenting the sacrifices he has to make for duty.

And a completely unnecessary shirt rip.

Plus a casual huge scientific breakthrough at the end. What more could I ask for?

Was the time travel discovery meant to explain all the planets the Enterprise visits that are essentially Earth with an alternative history? As far as I know, the ability to travel to any time is never addressed again.

Summary

The USS Enterprise is observing a planet's death. Spock and another crewman go planetside when the group of scientists they're supposed to pick up don't respond. All of them are dead in confounding ways. The crew member doesn't follow proper quarantine protocol and brings a virus on board that lowers the inhibitions of the infected. Meanwhile, the Enterprise is in a difficult orbit that gets harder the more crew are distracted by the antics of the infected. Will the ship get destroyed with the planet?

Almost completely fine. Janice is used as an object of desire to illustrate Kirk's loyalty to the ship to the point of sacrificing any other want and how a part of him is unhappy with that. There's nothing really problematic about that. My girl just deserves better.

He talks about his attraction to her, acknowledges it's inappropriate, but he does look at her longingly toward the end and says "No beach to walk on." Ultimately, it seems to be more about him grieving his decision to prioritize his career and the ship over romance than specifically any romantic opportunity with Janice.

Spock x Chapel - 🥲

I like that Chapel acknowledges and accepts all of Spock's heritage. She pays him a lot of attention. Her love does seem unrequited though.

Spock and Kirk do have a very emotional scene together. I don't think there's any subtext. Kirk is talking about Janice in this conversation. But you get some really good lines and expressions.

There is romantic subtext later in the show, but in this episode, it seems like a very passionate vulnerable conversation between friends (I feel very straight saying that). But I think it lays a foundation for more later.

I'll also note Kirk's distress causes Spock to stop thinking about his own inner turmoil and focus on the problem at hand. It's very clear they care a lot about each other.

I don't usually consider their verbal sparring particularly romantic, but I feel I would be remiss not to note it. Particularly, Spock's smile after his jab is pretty cute.

Hogwarts Legacy x Wizarding World Careers

I wasn't quite ready to post today, but the exposure therapy must continue! I did a lot of work on my fic tho so I am very happy, but for now, I must yap about the jobs Hogwarts Legacy characters would have.

MC

Starting with our MC. I would like to think she will follow in the footsteps of Rackham and Isadora where she either becomes the Headmaster of Hogwarts or at least a Professor of some sort. If not a professor then maybe a curse breaker. I think she would like to stay in action, never the type to really settle down. ALSO FUN FACT Dumbledore would have been a first year at Hogwarts around the time our hero is in 6th or 7th year so of anyone is writing a 6th/7th year fic those two could canonically meet.

Sebastian Sallow

For Sebastian I am pretty sure the consensus is that he would be a Defense Against a Dark Arts professor or a Healer and I agree with both of these. I can see him and MC running the school and maybe even have students shipping them bc they see them banter around and Sebastian could bring MC in class and they would duel in front of the students for fun. That's such an amusing concept to explore I might just write it myself (I can't, I banned myself from starting new projects until I finish one of my unfinished ones).

I could also see him as a Healer. Maybe after he got humbled by what happened with Anne he would dedicate his life to finding cures for curses and other remedies. I wasn't planning on writing this, this literally came to me as I'm writing this post but that would fit well if someone headcanoned MC the Cursebreaker route. Then the two of them could just travel around and break curses and cure people and always be on the move.

Ominis Gaunt

For Ominis I actually don't have a clear idea I am not going to lie. I would like to think he escaped his family (I WOULD LOVE TO WRITE A FIC ONE DAY WHERE MC AND SEBASTIAN JUST FUCKING BURN THE GAUNT ESTATE TO THE GROUND) very passionate about that idea yes. In one of my fics taking place in the summer between 5th and 6th year I just headcanoned the three of them living together in the Sallow home and basically just doing odd jobs with MC and Sebastian and they have that domestic setup going on. Maybe he would also work at Hogwarts but yeah no clue long term. Also according to canon unfortunately Ominis would have to die young which breaks my heart.

According to the wiki:

"It is known that the last living Gaunts by the summer of 1925 were Marvolo and his children Morfin and Merope. It follows that Ominis had already passed away by that date; he either did not have any offspring or, if did, they must also have already died by that date."

I really don't think she went as far as Newt in studying the creatures but I definitely think she would be a strong advocate for not killing dangeorus creatures and making sure that they are left alone. I feel like she would be strong about preserving dragon habitats and shutting down poaching rings. I can see her taking a spot at the Ministry or again just be a strong advocate for the protection of animals. And of course I can also see her taking over Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts.

Natsai Onai

I think Natsai is destined for great things. She's very self assured and self confident. I am sure she would want to be an Auror being inspired by how useless Officer Singer was in the game. I think she would be like wow there is so much crime and some of these Aurors are useless, I must become one in order to make a difference. Later on I see her taking a ministry job as like an advancement but I definitely think she would try to fic the existing system.

There's a couple cinematics, the star guardian skinline for League (basically turning them into magical girls) really emphasized their relationship (friendship? More than that? It really looks like the latter), the "You Really Got Me promo for the mobile game also gives them screentime together.

They also have an entire short animated series together (admittedly with Ezreal and this other little wizard guy who I don't remember the name of) again mostly centering on them

So that's that for established stuff from RIOT to the best of my memories, but as characters...

they just click.

Jinx needs someone who sees her for who she is now, everything she's done, and accepts and loves her for it without forcing her to change herself. Lux could help her heal, without constantly reminding her of the past.

(My biggest thing with Timebomb is that no matter how much better Ekko gets, he still knows how she used to be. Even if it's unconscious, chances are he's still seeing Powder in her. She also... Killed a lot of his friends. Right in front of him. He beat the shit out of her. She tried to kill them both multiple times. There's so much history and tension between them and I don't think that can reasonably be solved with a "but I love her!" I'm not saying it can't happen, but there's a lot of things that need to happen before that's even a feasible option)

And as for Lux, she needs someone to help her let go. Let go of the past, let go of her powers. Someone to bring her out of her shell, show her that her powers do not make her monstrous. And who better for the job than our beloved Jinx, lover of all things bright, colorful, explosive, and loud!

I would find Blondie Lockes very annoying in real life, but I love her in fiction. She's a genuinely good journalist in terms of both skill and ethical integrity, who only occasionally forgets to check the facts because she's fifteen and holds herself accountable when she does. She has incredibly high standards for everything and believes herself to be the ultimate authority on quality. She has magical lockpicking powers because her fairytale is about Goldilocks breaking into a house. She somehow completely ignores the story's moral that Goldilocks was wrong to break into the house, feels entitled to go wherever and help herself to whatever she's able to and cannot comprehend why people dislike this. She's been terrorizing an anthropomorphic bear family with her cheerful disrespect for privacy and is convinced that they love her. She has a non-anthropomorphic pet baby bear. Her motivation is dependence on external approval rooted in deeply internalized classism. She's desperate to be useful and important to those with higher social status and feels the need to lie that her family is technically royalty to fit in with her royal friends, even though they treat commoners like equals all the time. She positions herself as a conduit of true greatness; closer to it than the masses, but never the hero, always reporting on other people and evaluating what they've done. Because what she's done isn't enough to be worthwhile. What she is isn't enough. But this performative lifestyle makes her anxious about being judged as a fraud and an interloper, and ashamed of selfishly transgressing against social norms. Her microphone head looks like an adorable little bear head. That's one hex of a character alright.

can I say something is this a safe space. it's kind of fascinating that ford is meant to read as a deeply repressed character and a capital s Scientist no less but he leads this other half of his life entirely dedicated to the occult. in the 70's-80's. like the historical connotations of the occult and what they represented in the united states at least seems kind of interesting in this context. for no reason in particular I find the dual aspects of "extremely dedicated to presenting as a logical, steadfast researcher trying to earn respect and social acceptance to the point of hinging all of his self worth on this vision for the future working out" and "deeply tied to the paranormal and "unsavory black magic" and everything Weird/freakish but feels like he needs to hide this aspect of himself from even the people closest to him" Very interesting. hiding six-fingered hands compulsively behind his back even if it's the emblem he puts on his journals. "what are you attracted to?" and "maybe you're simply attracted to things that hurt you" from two different points in the book. sweet dreams (are made of this) on the record player. hey does anyone know what that tarot card with a snake on it is meant to represent

yknowwww there is something... deeply uncomfortable about the way mel never speaks directly to viktor in the 'build hextech weapons' scene. she really only speaks to jayce. plenty of people have pointed this out already but like the one scene they actually share a meaningful interaction and she treats him like he's beneath her. all this after jayce has emphasized how important viktor is, that hextech is theirs, together. she unequivocally ices him out, there's no other way to interpret this scene. the way it's shot too - from viktor's perspective, looking up at her, as though to reinforce the same belief in him. like he doesn't even bother expecting respect from her - or anyone from the upper echelon of piltover. he's fully accustomed to being dehumanized by everyone around him at this point. sometimes even by jayce, despite the trust they clearly have in each other.

then of course after this scene is viktor experimenting on himself. it's pretty clear that he has internalized his own dehumanization. crazy.

au where bruce is attracted to his robins and batgirls. he tries not to think about it or act on it, but it's getting more difficult with every new member of his team he acquires. does anyone know? do the robins and batgirls notice his weird behavior? what do they do about it? do they ever find out the truth? who would think it's terrible and who would find it strangely hot/comforting/nice? does bruce ever act on his feelings?

oh my GOD do i have thoughts for AUs like this, i love this shit so dearly, dirtybadwrong Bruce who's trying to keep a lid on it my beloved.

i think the fun of this AU is if characters would notice Bruce lusting for themselves vs would they notice Bruce lusting for a different Robin/Batgirl. like does Dick pick up on it when it's just him and Bruce? no, because it's just. him and Bruce. he and Bruce are weird and complicated and hold endless bounds of nuance. that's just How Bruce Is, and Dick is the "test run", in a sense. he knows Bruce is new to this whole sidekick/family thing and is giving Bruce grace for being rough around the edges. but when Bruce starts looking at Jason or Tim or Cass that way, that's when Dick starts to notice. it's never enough of a suspicion he feels justified to bring it up, but the thought lingers. he's hyperaware and grows less and less comfortable with leaving them alone with Bruce. it's a weird game of chicken, Dick and Bruce staring each other down when Bruce's touch lingers too long. each waiting for the other to say something first. if Bruce ever broke and actually acted on his feelings, Dick would be eaten alive by the guilt of knowing something was up, but never saying something until it was too late.

obviously, Cass would know. there's no world where Cass *doesn't* know, the nature of who and what she is would immediately clock it. but the issue is, Cass doesn't have a good framework of what family looks like. she doesn't really understand familial vs romantic love bc she has no firsthand experience of what a parent's love should even look like. so she never calls it out. she just watches. i'm a fan of Cass believing this is normal and believing she too can express and act on attraction that's vaguely incestuous. maybe it's with Babs, maybe it's with Dick or Tim or Bruce himself. but she recognizes this as Normal and Accepted within the Batfamily, so it severely fucks up her understanding of familial love and i just. man it's my favorite thing about Cass in Batcest honestly, is how you can play with her lack of experience with love, boundaries, and sexuality.

Tim is the fun one for me. because my favorite flavor of BruTim is when Tim knows, as he agrees to be Robin, that there's a non-zero chance that Bruce is going to be Weird and agrees anyway because he's decided it's an acceptable risk. so Tim knows from the get-go because he's expecting it. if Bruce acts on his attraction, i think it's either with Tim or Cass first, because they're the most likely to confront him about it in a way that isn't entirely negative. Tim has accepted it's a possibility and Cass just seeks being loved and touched so. it leads to the first time someone's ever confronted Bruce about it. and the thing is, Bruce really doesn't like confrontation about his flaws. the first time Tim tries to imply he's okay with it, Bruce would lash out at the idea, tell Tim how inappropriate that is and benches Tim for a week. it'd probably take a united front from Cass and Tim to get Bruce to even *admit* to the attraction. still Bruce wouldn't allow it to happen and he brushes them off until finally, the dam breaks. it's fun if there's a cause like sex pollen, but i think it's *more* fun if it's just. a random fucking Tuesday and finally Bruce is at his limit. he has no real reason, there's nothing particularly different about that day's routine. he just sees Tim or Cass striping armor and sighs and gives in.

i don't think Steph, Jason, or Babs would notice until anything substantial happened. not because they're not wicked smart, but just because none of them were looking for it. Jason put Bruce on a pedestal when he was alive, and when he came back from the dead he wasn't close enough to be noticing Bruce's interpersonal dynamics outside of his narrow scope. Steph has no real framework for what healthy fatherhood looks like, so if Bruce's touches linger, if he stares too long, she just shrugs and assumes it's how it is. and Babs was just never quite close enough to Bruce to notice. if and when she notices, is when actual sexual things start to happen between Cass and Bruce. because Cass would see no reason to hide it. Babs would be pissed, but it'd be tricky to navigate. Cass would be an adult, even if she's only 18/19, so technically, she's old enough to be consenting. if nothing else, Bruce is a careful man. even when he breaks and gives in to his desires, he covers his tracks well. he makes sure he has enthusiastic consent and there's no legal recourse that could be taken. age of consent and all that. there's not much Babs can *do* other than try to tell Cass (and/or Tim) that this isn't normal or okay. not that it gets her anywhere, but god would she try.

by the time Duke comes along (if we venture out of the pre-Flashpoint era) i think it's a sort of. open secret, in the Batfamily. talked about in nothing but hushed whispers and knowing glances. at some point, they've all had sex with Bruce, caving all for different reasons. some more than others. Tim sees it as a duty, Cass sees it as a way of seeking comfort, Steph sees it as getting Bruce's approval for once, etc. it's never forced on them, but eventually, they all come to Bruce sooner or later. and that's the fun irony of it, i think. they try to convince the others not to, but would go to Bruce on their own well. because complicated reasons they can't put into words. sometimes, Bruce is just a messy man who doesn't realize how prized his Attention to for the rest of the Batfamily. that weird duality of not liking him, but also wanting desperately for him to like you. all of them have dealt with it, at some point. so for Duke, it takes a while for him to understand this... whole dynamic. it's Cass who tries to explain it to him, and he's a little horrified, a lot confused. especially when Bruce starts staring at him a little too long as well. i think he'd only want to watch first but well. they all cave eventually.

also fun bonus if we venture into the Dark Knight Returns universe for my bestest girl Carrie Kelley: there's such a like, "i'm fucking around and i'm finding out" vibe to Carrie. like Tim, she's very proactive in just. deciding she's going to be Robin and she's ready for whatever that entails. (IMO canon Carrie is closer to fanon Tim than canon Tim is but *that* deserves its own post-) like she takes one look at the old man that is Batman and goes yup. he's never fucking getting rid of me now. if Bruce started having weird feelings about her, i think she'd have *fun* with it. she's decided she's in it for the long haul and for whatever being Robin means so. she's almost teasing about it, seeing how hard she can push before Bruce snaps. since it's an older, gruffer Bruce, i think he'd express open annoyance at it first, almost a sort of banter about how Carrie behave. but of course he caves and Carrie leans into it, because there's a fun in having all of Bruce's attention to herself. in the main timeline, Bruce is pretty split with so many Robins and Batgirls, but during their era, it's *just* her and him and she's very proud she's got him all to herself.
