do you two know each other’s favorite colors
Sheesh, my bad, didn’t know you hated my main man red so much!
I don’t—I don’t hate it. It is simply not my favorite; that’s what the original question was about, was it not?
Well, what is it then?
What?
What’s your favorite?
…
…
…
Seriously? It’s way too late to pretend like you don’t have one! You already said it wasn’t red, so what is it!
…
…Pink. And green. It’s a pleasant color combination—if I recall correctly, they are…they are...They go well together.
No lie, those are pretty swag colors…….so what about mine?
Yours?
Do you know my favorite color?
Of course I don’t, why would I?
You’re such a bad friend, man!
We are not friends.
Hope you got a pen nearby ‘cause you better be writing this down: I like……………..ALL colors! My favorite is everrrrrrryyyyy color!
Absolute nonsense. How is every single color your favorite? Do you even know what that word means? It—
Oh, so you can like pink and green, but I can’t like every color? Huh?
It’s only two compared t—
But doesn’t ‘favorite color’ imply that, whatever it may be, it is a singular hue? Isn’t it atrociously incorrect for you to list two separate colors? Shouldn’t—
Stop it. I do not sound like that.
Yeah, yeah, and your favorite color isn’t red, we’ve all heard it
IT IS NOT—
#no way back is here#needless separation is here#average ask takes 3 hours factoid actually statistical error. favorite colors georg who was drawn under a desk in english class and had two#lines of dialogue written before having to be put away for 2 hours until i came home and even then was too busy eating spaghetti to finish#writing it is an outlier adn should not have been counted#anyway sep trying desperately to remember color theory like it’s not killing him

Assistant Noah AU: How would Alejandro react to learning that Assistant Noah was originally a contestant in Season 1, but Noah tricked his team into voting him off super early... But Chris somehow found out, and Noah became Chris Mclean's Assistant as a punishment... How would Alejandro feel about learning this? 😅
assuming the timeline here, and that initially the circumstances of noah’s elimination is the usual ‘i was promised a 5-star resort, i didn’t get one, i’m going to get one’ and assistant noah’s usual Spite i think there is something interesting to be found there:
alejandro is the villain of world tour; the antagonist. with it comes a drive to win, so it’d be easy to say while he may respect it, he would look down on a play to just, get yourself out of the game. that being said, that reaction is more in-line with someone like heather, and alejandro is an opportunistic villain — i can see him respecting such a play, and admiring it in some way.
^ adding onto this, while i'm not sure this is too inline with what we're given in canon, alejandros motivations seem to be less about fame or money (seeing as his father is a diplomat) and more about proving a point specifically to his brother.
and, while not refined in the slightest, there is a degree of skill involved in nuking a single social situation so hard you get yourself voted out near-unanimously. and alejandro, different from someone like say heather, understands using the game to a different ends than what's being promised by it, ergo; respect and admiration.
(maybe even moreso since it is a very isolating move -- at least when he plays charmer villain he's hoping to get a good chunk of cash from it. all noah was hoping for was a luxury summer and he didn't even get that.)
not to mention it speaks to more character beyond the action itself -- a character i do think alejandro would, at the very least, be intrigued by. building off the previous assistant noah ask, i'd imagine alejandro would use it as a point of teasing, assuming it to be a kind of sore spot for noah.
which he isn't entirely wrong about -- since it wasn't so much a choice and more of a 'do this or else' i can see noah here being leagues more salty about his job and the circumstances thereof and looking back not-so-fondly on how he even landed it in the first place.
anyway in conclusion: it makes alejandro stumble harder into being a smitten loser and noah remains Bitter
#giggling i do love filling out asks its like prompted responses in english class or whatever but i enjoy it much more#hmm trying to find something to ramble about in the tags#like usual if this is incoherent we r going to pretend it isnt ok!!#assistant noah SIGHS why did the writers nerf that potential#oh ive been busy coming up with wild ass hcs for alejandros family and characterization its bound to seep into other stuff#kjask#total drama

I've been asking Allah عز وجل for righteous companions for such a long time now... and not once did I ever expect that du'a to be answered in the form of colleagues. Allahu Akbar, truly.

Tired of missing out on big international deals because of your English?
At times, when you see international business owners speak English well, you ask yourself, "How do they speak English so well?"
Just like you, Fahad, a Middle Eastern business owner, had the same thought because his weak English was not helping his international business.
He had also tried many ways to improve his weak English skills, but he made little to no progress.
Fahad sent me a message and told me how he had tried to improve his weak English but he couldn't talk confidently.
He joined the 1-on-1 VIP English program for Middle Eastern business owners for eight months.
~ He showed up for every English assignment feedback to improve his English faster for business and took action.
~ Fahad joined every one-on-one live English class, ready to learn and develop the strong English he wanted.
Eight months later, he started talking confidently in English during important meetings and events.
Fahad began to use his English confidently for his international business.
When you are ready to take action to develop strong English to grow your business in other countries and make more money.
P.S. Send me a message with the word "strong" to join the 8-month 1-on-1 VIP English coaching program to improve your English for international business.

Close reading is such an underrated skill.
I know it hasn't been really taught as a general skill in primary or secondary schools in many decades, and of course it shouldn't be the only tool in your toolbox. But the closest most kids (here, at least) ever come to close reading in high school is still a few weeks of looking at newspaper clippings for persuasive techniques and desultory attempts to ape them in essays.
But in real life I am frequently presented with art or media without much further context. It's on a book shelf. It's an ad. It's streaming on a service. It's in my YouTube recommendations. I don't know when I see these things who the creator is personally, or about the context in which they produced this thing. No idea!
So I see a lot of people saying online now, "How was I supposed to know [this creator] was a Bad Person when nobody told me?"
And my answer is: you do not have to know anything about a creator to engage with their work and recognise whether or not you think their ideas are quality ones. You can learn skills and put them in your critical thinking toolbox to do this for you. And close reading skills are one way to meaningfully engage with texts on that basis.
Unfortunately, you can get about a year into an actual literature degree before a gobsmacked professor will sit a whole class down, lean wearily on his desk and say, "Does any one of you know how to do a close reading? Do they not teach that in primary?"
No. No they don't! And unless they've started doing it again pretty recently, they haven't for decades.
#they're too busy filling english classes up with shit that should have been in social sciences and civics.#and acting shocked about national reading comprehension failures#unsolicited opinions#close reading#just a personal complaint i guess#old man yells at cloud#when close reading is the ONLY tool that can end up with some fucked up readings but. it's still gotta be there.#if you only have a hammer you also fuck things up but most people would still want one in a tool kit#lit tag

boss wants me (an in-house corporate english teacher who has been teaching one 1-hr lesson a week to each employee who is supposed to be learning) to think of a better way to teach english
anyone have any ideas?
#for context we currently teach from Oxford Business Result textbook series#i've thought of assigning a WHOLE BUNCH of extra hw#or making everyone take 2 lessons a week but i feel like that won't really do anything#unless the second lesson was like a book club so they had to do a couple hours of reading outside of class every week#perhaps doing a monthly speech contest to make them practice what they've learned#maybe doing fifteen minutes per day (on the clock at the office) of english study time#llu
