My day today:
Get up. Discover my allergies are dialed up to 12.
Go to work.
Work on a brief that’s due today. Ask partner for help with a difficult research issue that’s in her wheelhouse.
Realize there are also discovery responses due today.
Check client documents; realize client did not provide discovery documents.
Draft the most bare-bones discovery response I have ever drafted.
Email client for confirmation that responses are accurate.
Finish brief.
Prepare for pre-hearing client consult.
Get a call from my apartment telling me that the upstairs apartment had “leak” and my apartment has water in it.
Drive home.
Discover that the “leak” is a burst pipe.
Clean up the immediate wreckage.
Get dinner.
Check for client confirmation.
Serve discovery responses without client confirmation.
Clean until everything wet is dealt with.
Get told by my roommate that I’ve only cleaned “a couple things.”
Clean more.
Get volunteered to accompany partner to a hearing tomorrow.
Try not to scream/cry/meltdown.
Being a lawyer sucks ass tonight and I will not be entertaining opposing opinions.

Dealing with Burst Pipes: A Guide to Protecting Your Home on the Gold Coast
Tumblr media
Burst pipes are an unfortunate reality that many homeowners on the Gold Coast may face, especially during the colder months. When a pipe bursts, it can cause significant damage to your property and disrupt your daily life. In this blog post, we'll explore the causes of burst pipes, the signs to watch out for, and essential steps to protect your home from potential water disasters.
Understanding the Causes:
Burst pipes can occur due to various factors, but some common culprits include freezing temperatures, aging pipes, excessive water pressure, and corrosion. The Gold Coast's cooler months can lead to freezing water inside pipes, causing them to expand and eventually burst. It's essential to be aware of these potential causes to take proactive measures.
Recognizing the Signs:
Detecting a burst pipe early can save you from extensive water damage and costly repairs. Look out for signs such as water discoloration, low water pressure, damp spots on walls or ceilings, unusual noises from pipes, or sudden spikes in water bills. If you notice any of these signs, it's crucial to act promptly.
Steps to Protect Your Home:
Insulate Exposed Pipes: If you have pipes exposed to the elements, especially in crawl spaces or attics, insulate them with foam or pipe sleeves. This helps prevent freezing and potential bursts during colder weather.
Keep a Moderate Temperature: During cooler months, avoid setting your thermostat too low, especially when you're away from home. Keeping a moderate temperature helps prevent pipes from freezing.
Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular inspections and maintenance with a professional plumber. A plumber can identify potential issues early on and address them before they escalate.
Know the Main Water Shut-Off: Familiarize yourself with the location of the main water shut-off valve in your home. In the event of a burst pipe, turning off the water supply quickly can minimize damage.
Drip Faucets During Freezing Weather: On particularly cold nights, allow faucets to drip slightly. This prevents water from sitting in the pipes and reduces the risk of freezing.
Be Mindful of Water Pressure: Excessive water pressure can strain pipes and increase the chances of a burst. Consider installing a pressure regulator to keep water pressure at a safe level.
Emergency Plan: Have an emergency plan in place in case a burst pipe occurs. Know whom to contact for professional assistance and have the necessary tools and materials handy.
Seeking Professional Help:
If you suspect a burst pipe gold coast in your home, it's crucial to act quickly and seek professional assistance. Shut off the main water supply and contact a licensed plumber who can assess the situation, repair the burst pipe, and inspect the rest of your plumbing system for potential issues.
Dealing with a burst pipe can be a stressful and costly ordeal, but with awareness and proactive measures, you can protect your home from potential water disasters on the Gold Coast. Being vigilant, investing in regular maintenance, and seeking professional help when needed will go a long way in safeguarding your property and ensuring peace of mind throughout the year.
Remember, prevention is key, and taking the necessary precautions today can save you from headaches tomorrow. Stay informed, be prepared, and keep your home safe from burst pipes and their potential consequences.

Dealing with Burst Pipes? Call an Emergency Plumber Near You
Tumblr media
Have you ever experienced the chaos of a burst pipe in your home? Water gushing out from pipes can cause structural damage and ruin your belongings. If this happens, you don't want to wait around for a plumber to arrive – you need immediate help.
Burst pipes can happen to anyone, and they usually come unannounced. When pipes unexpectedly burst, it can cause panic and stress. Calling a professional plumber to deal with the issue can relieve the stress and prevent further issues.
If you are dealing with burst pipes, don't wait until it's too late. It's essential to address the issue quickly to avoid costly repairs or damage to your home. An emergency plumber is your best bet in this situation.
They have the expertise and tools to fix the issue quickly and efficiently. In this article, we'll talk about why it's important to call a plumber when dealing with burst pipes and what qualities to look for when choosing an emergency plumber near me.
What are burst pipes?
Burst pipes are a plumbing nightmare. They can cause extensive damage to both your home and your wallet, not to mention the disruption they can cause. Burst pipes occur when there is too much pressure in the water line or when a pipe is frozen and expands, breaking free of its fittings.
This results in an uncontrolled release of water which can quickly flood an area. The damage that a burst pipe can cause depends on where it is located, how long it has been running and the amount of pressure behind it. All these factors need to be taken into consideration when dealing with a burst pipe.
What causes burst pipes?
Burst pipes can be caused by a variety of factors, ranging from extremely cold weather to poor plumbing maintenance. When temperatures drop below freezing, the water in pipes can freeze and expand, causing them to burst. Poorly maintained plumbing systems can also lead to burst pipes due to corroded or weak joints that are unable to handle the pressure of the water running through them.
In addition, some pipes may be too old or worn out and unable to handle the pressure they’re subjected to every day. Finally, if there’s a sudden surge in water pressure due to something like a power outage or even a plumbing repair gone wrong, this could cause an existing pipe problem to become catastrophic.
Signs of burst pipes and plumbing emergencies
If you’re dealing with a plumbing emergency, it’s important to know the signs of burst pipes and other plumbing issues. One of the most obvious signs is an unusual amount of water pooling in your yard or basement. If you have a running toilet or sink, this could also be an indicator that something is wrong.
Additionally, if you notice strange noises coming from your pipes such as gurgling or bubbling, this could indicate a blockage somewhere in your system. Finally, if there’s a sudden drop in water pressure for no apparent reason, this might also be a sign that something is a miss.
Why you should call an emergency plumber
There are some situations when you need an emergency plumber to consider. There’s no room for DIY—it’s always best to call a professional. Not only will they be able to diagnose and resolve the issue quickly, but they can also provide you with expert advice on how to prevent similar issues in the future. Furthermore, emergency plumbers are available 24/7 and even on public holidays so you can rest assured that help is at hand when you need it most.
So don’t delay—if you suspect that you may have a plumbing emergency such as a burst pipe, emergency hot water or any gas fitting needs, make sure to call an emergency plumbing service near you right away!
What to expect when you call an emergency plumber
When you call an emergency or an after-hour plumber, you can expect a quick response and prompt action. A reliable local provider will arrive on time at your home or business, equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment needed. This applies not only to residential plumbers but also to commercial plumbers as well. Whether it’s a burst pipe, blocked drain, gas leak or hot water system issue, they’ll be able to diagnose the problem accurately and provide you with a cost-effective solution.
Plus, experienced emergency plumbers are available 24/7 and even on public holidays so you don’t have to wait long for help. Furthermore, they offer leak detection services that use state-of-the-art technology to locate leaks quickly and accurately so that they can be dealt with efficiently.
How to prevent burst pipes and plumbing emergencies in the future
Regular inspection of visible pipes is crucial to identify any signs of damage such as rust or corrosion. In case of any issues, it is recommended to seek the assistance of a qualified plumber without delay. Additionally, it is advisable to monitor pipes for freezing during winters, and if any frozen patches or icy build-up is observed, it is best to seek the help of an emergency plumber for safe defrosting.
It is advisable to have a professional plumber perform regular maintenance to detect potential plumbing problems early on. This may involve examining faucets and taps for leaks, assessing drainage systems for obstructions, and evaluating the effectiveness of hot water systems.
No one wants to deal with a plumbing emergency, but if you do find yourself in need of an emergency plumber, it's important to know who to call. Our goal is to provide prompt and reliable service so that you can get back to enjoying life again. From blocked drains and gas leaks to burst pipes and hot water emergencies. What to Do When a Pipe Bursts in Your Home
Tumblr media
If a pipe bursts in your home, it can cause significant damage to your property and belongings. Here are the steps you should take to minimize the damage:
Shut Off the Water Supply and Drain the Pipes
The first step in dealing with a burst pipe in your home is to shut off the water supply. This will prevent any further water from flowing into your home and causing more damage. To shut off the water, locate the main water valve and turn it off. Next, open all of the faucets in your home to drain any remaining water from the pipes. This will also relieve the pressure on the pipes, which can help prevent additional bursts.
Use Your Investigative Skills to Locate the Leak
Once the water supply has been shut off, it's time to locate the leak. Start by looking for any visible signs of water damage, such as wet walls or floors. If you can't find the leak, listen for the sound of running water, which can help pinpoint the location. You can also try using a moisture meter or thermal imaging camera to detect any hidden leaks.
Reach Out To Professionals
Repairing a burst pipe can be a complicated and dangerous task, so it's best to leave it to the professionals. Contact a licensed plumber or water damage restoration company to assess the damage and make any necessary repairs. They can also help you determine the cause of the burst pipe and take steps to prevent it from happening again.
Also read about Identifying Toilet Backup and How to Solve It
Clean Up the Mess
Once the leak has been fixed, it's time to clean up the mess. Start by removing any standing water using a wet/dry vacuum or sump pump. Next, use fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the affected area and prevent mold growth. Any damaged materials, such as drywall or carpeting, should be removed and disposed of properly.
Take Inventory of Damage Done
Make a list of any items that were damaged or destroyed by the burst pipe, such as furniture, electronics, or personal belongings. Take photos of the damage and keep any receipts or invoices for repairs or replacements.
Talk To Your Insurance Agent
If you have homeowner's insurance, contact your agent to report the damage and file a claim. They can help you navigate the claims process and ensure that you receive the compensation you're entitled to. Be sure to provide them with any documentation or evidence of the damage, such as photos or receipts.
Take Preventive Measures
To prevent future burst pipes, there are several steps you can take. First, insulate any exposed pipes to protect them from freezing. You can also install a leak detection system that will alert you to any potential leaks before they cause significant damage. Finally, make sure to have your plumbing system inspected regularly by a licensed professional to catch any problems before they become major issues.
Remember, time is of the essence when dealing with a burst pipe. So, act quickly and follow these steps to minimize the damage and get your home back to normal as soon as possible. Yes, a clogged pipe can cause a leak. When a pipe becomes clogged with debris, waste, or buildup, the pressure within the pipe increases, putting stress on the joints, connections, and other parts of the pipe. Over time, this pressure can cause the pipe to crack, leak, or burst, resulting in water damage and other problems. To get more details Contact NYC Drain Cleaning today at +1212-641-0256.

Hey Texans (and others in the US)!
We’re expected to have a freeze and harsh weather this week and/or next week (check your local forecast for specifics). Make sure you have some extra water storage, non perishable foods, blankets, and maybe some hand warmers in case our local or state power supply gets fucking destroyed again.
Make sure to at least set your heat to 55°F, keep cabinets with pipes in them open to allow heat in, and drip your faucets to help prevent pipes bursting.
It’s not anything to be scared about, and not likely to be as bad as 2021, but always better to prepared.
There might be snow in the panhandle today, though!

Percy Jackson but he drops out of uni and goes to trade school instead.
He becomes a plumber.
He works for a big company for a while to make a steady income while Annabeth finishes school and establishes her own career.
Then he takes a leap and opens his own business.
He builds a reputation as the kindest, quickest, most honest, most fairly priced plumber in the city.
You called him for the leak in your shower but he also went ahead and fixed that sink faucet with the slow drip because he had the time, no charge, obviously.
When he tells you he's gonna have to break into the drywall to get to the problem and you think he's just scamming for more money, he highlights the bit in his contract where it says he'll pay for the repairs and owe you money if he's wrong. (He's never wrong.)
He will lecture you for flushing shit you ain't supposed to be flushing, but he does it without making you feel embarrassed or guilty.
If he's called to replace toilet guts, he will offer to teach you how to replace them yourself so you don't have to pay for the labor next time.
