I’m wondering if the beige/white/black minimalism trends have any correlation with the rise in fascism and religious extremism vis a vis repression, conformity, “cleanliness” (and thus lack of sin), obsessive performative lives and such.

To them its like normal human expression and joy is a deviation they should fear like the devil. Color is the /other/. Maximalism is hedonism. Etc.

In Knives Out Blanc wanted to do the murder mystery investigation with Marta so bad, but she was certain she was guilty so she spent a good amount of the movie avoiding/hiding stuff from him

Meanwhile in Glass Onion Helen was fucking carrying the investigation, even while accidentally getting drunk, and even went to investigation lengths Blanc was hesitant to do

#knives out #glass onion #ko: marta actively ruins evidence due to her perceived guilt. blanc knew the entire time she was innocent or ill intent #go: helen fucking diving forward to eavesdrop on duke/miles/whiskey better. helen tossing a tape recorder in birdie's bag. helen listening #in on lionel & claires freak out at the pool. helen did all the research on her sisters journals to get as into the role as possible #marta only standing up for her rightful inheritance at the end after everything vs helen down to ruin those shitheads from the start #i love these movies & the duality in the chars/victims & how it ends. marta gets the house. helen burns miles' down. its just!!!!! it does make me laugh a little bit that stolas made this deal about the full moon, but once they were actually hooking up both he and blitz start blurring the lines of what that means almost immediately 😭

By the harvest moon festival (s1e5) they're already having sex outside of the "normal" schedule for the deal. And in truth seekers (s1e6) they're having sex because they want to, without even considering the full moon. Of course after Ozzie's, Stolas stops asking Blitz to hook up at all. When he finally reaches out again, Blitz is genuinely excited to hook up and plans for it the whole month (evidenced on his calendar) and then packs for the night with stolas all day in Full Moon

blitz really said the sex is too good and i'm catching feelings but it's for work rn so i can't really think about that :-)

#is there a canon timeline #bc when i first started this show i assumed that their first night together was like years ago #but upon rewatch it's evident that the first night is like maybe a week (or two at most) before episode 1 #so i'm running on that they hook up around december #then in the beginning of january (as stated in ep1) they set a rule to meet on the full moon #and ozzie's is like maybe six months-ish? from the start of their deal #maybe a little longer #but i could be way off base here #watch this show only have been like 3 months in canon #and this slow burn isn't actually slow at all #helluva boss #helluva stolas #helluva blitzo #stolitz #stolas goetia #blitzo buckzo

This isn't a new or unique thought, but something that drives me absolutely bananas about the Ted Lasso writer response to Ted/Rebecca shippers being this condescending stance that it's so common and basic to do a romance between m/f leads and we've all just been ~socialized~ to want this, is that it actually ISN'T COMMON AND BASIC to see a romance between, first of all, two solidly middle aged people full stop, and two solidly middle aged people who are laden with grown-up, real-life baggage and whose relationship would have begun as a hard won and deeply authentic, joyful, and healing friendship, and probably a million more components that I'll think of after I post this. They of course were not legally obligated to do a romance but I absolutely beg of them to stop acting like Ted/Rebecca would've been dime a dozen because it would not.
