Memory Lane-ing brought me back to Bailey's acting debut. Well I've been thinking and things are clicking.... Might be time for a present day Songbird's semi autobiographical story to be told through music and film.

Yesterday, my 12 year old laptop died.

This machine was an XPS laptop. It was in perfect working order up until the motherboard decided to die. I've swapped keyboards, screens, batteries, and a track pad on this thing, all with the help of YouTube. I actually wanted to get this machine repaired until I learned it would be about 3 grand for a repair that might work. There would be no guarantee and it would be hard finding someone willing to work on a computer that old.

I'm paying someone for data recovery because he can do it better and quicker. When that's done and I have the hard drive, I'm going to donate my old XPS. It can still be repaired if you have the right part and enough time. People do. I'm donating it to a program that takes old computers like these, fixes them, and gives them to low income students. This computer will probably last another 5 years (or more). Parts for it are easily purchased on Amazon.

My new computer is coming today. It's the same build, just slightly newer. It will last me another 12 years I hope. I will repair it as needed. Parts are easily available on Amazon. It will do everything I need it to and, when it's time, I'll swap it all over to a new computer from that same series.

Being able to repair my own machines has made me an XPS user for life. It allows me to save money and cut down on e-waste. So many people are stunned that my old computer was 12 (the one I had before this was 15 before it failed). We are so used to a society with disposable technology that it's genuinely shocking to people when someone says they fixed their own laptop.

But why should people try? So many laptops are made so you can't just unscrew and pop the back off. So many computers are made to fail after two, three, or four years. So many computers are made to force you to buy a new one for whatever capitalist bullshit reason.

I'll gladly pay extra for right to repair and a solid build with easily available replacement parts. That's what's important to me.

wait, but wouldn't eri's... erico's lack of elemental powers give him away?

Not quite! Eri/Erico might not be able to move the earth, but you know what he can do? Wield the Scythe of Quakes and imitate the Earth Punch! The Earth Punch in particular is literally just Erico shapeshifting the physiological effects (glow and heat) without getting any extra strength, so it's still something of a wonder that they're never found out. It's tiring, though, so Erico can't keep the earth punch up as long as Cole could—but initially this was attributed to his exposure to the oni smoke, and then later the ninja had bigger fish to fry.

Most of MotM is less Erico figuring out he's not Cole and more him having to accept that truth—they'd kind of started to figure it out beforehand, but it wasn't until they were deep underground with no real elemental power to show for it (just whatever shapeshifting tricks he could come up with) that Erico had to finally, truly ask himself who he was and what was going on.

Oh, and as a fullblooded oni, Eri does have access to powers of destruction, even if he's not quite a master of it like Garmadon or Omega are. But surely, that won't come into play at all, right? (it will >:]])

Actually yes!

I'm still fond of this idea even if it turned out to be wrong—but before the s4 special aired I was pretty confident that while MK went into the scroll to find Monkey King (and I totally called Macaque going in there with him), he would see something related to his creation/past and that was gonna be the thing to shake his relationship with Wukong.

But honestly, it makes more sense that a SWK and MK conflict would be saved for s5. I think I had just assumed that they were going to answer the question of "what is MK?" in the s4 special, when they definitely didn't do that at all lol.

So now I think we might just get this sort of thing later! The special made it clear that SWK V Macaque ("What happened between you two, for realizies?"), along with MK's identity are gonna be some of the plot points looming over MK's arc next season.

lazy weekends with your boyfriend were your favorite types of weekends. ones where you have nothing planned so you can sleep in, waking up from the sun shining through your windows and not from an alarm blaring at you.

and if it’s not the sun waking you up, it’s your boyfriend’s lips, peppering kisses all over your face until you wake up.

“i thought we agreed to sleep in this weekend?” you mumble sleepily to him. “we did. it’s almost 11, sweetheart,” jeonghan whispers against your cheek. “besides, i’m bored,” he adds, making you huff. “so you wake me up because you’re bored?” you ask and he just grins.

“well, i was just giving you some sweet kisses, you woke up on your own. but since you’re up… let’s get our day started,” he says, pulling you out of bed.

your day fully starts in the kitchen, both of you working together to prep your breakfast. jeonghan mixes the pancake batter while you cut up fruit.

when you glance over, you see him meticulously shaping each pancake.

“you’re so extra, you know that?” you tease, watching as he made bunny shaped pancakes. “only the best for you sweetheart,” he grins.

you eat in a comfortable silence, only occasionally giggling at a stupid joke jeonghan makes or nudging his side playfully.

jeonghan takes care of cleaning up and washing the dishes, sending you to the living room to get your activity for the day set up: a new lego set for your growing collection.

you hear him connecting his phone to the speakers, a soft song playing before he joins you on the living room floor.

“i can’t believe you bought three lego sets at once,” you sigh at him as you sort the pieces from the first baggie.

“well I couldn’t decide which flower set i liked most! besides, now i get to give you flowers that last forever,” jeonghan smiles, pressing a kiss to your temple.

you begin building, each of you building small pieces then connecting them. when you got to steps where you couldn’t work ahead, you’d settle for handing him the pieces he needed.

but as relaxing as this was, doing anything with jeonghan always had its chaotic moments.

“we’re missing a piece– oh god, how did we lose one–” “hannie–” “we can’t continue without it–” “jeonghan!”

you finally cut off his panicked rambling with a kiss to his lips. “sweetheart, we’re missing a piece–” “you were sitting on it,” you tell him, holding up the tiny green piece.

this happens at least 3 more times before you finally finish building.

before you bring the finished orchid bouquet to add to the shelf filled with all his other lego builds, jeonghan makes you pose with the flowers.

“do we really need to do this every time we build something?” you ask but hold the flowers, smiling as his snaps the photo.

“of course. i need a new lockscreen. besides, i like to document my favorite memories with my favorite girl,” he grins before taking the legos from you, setting it on the shelf.

“i think you need to be put on a buying ban for now. we’re out of space,” you say, looking over all his other legos.

“aw, but i just saw that they came out with the home alone lego set!” he exclaims. “hannie, where on earth would we even put that?” you give him a look.

“looks like we’ll just have to convert the guest room into a lego museum.”
