Wait so Angel (sadly) is the shadow of her father in the form of her romantic brooding hero. He’s the one that’s there to protect her. He teaches her things about the world. He says things she doesn’t understand. He says he loves her and then he changes and he leaves. She’s apparently at fault. The same emotional notes the conversation with her father in her nightmare hits are hit by Angel’s switch. She’s haunted by her home crumbling and the love that was supposed to shelter her forever suddenly not existing anymore and the idea that she’s to blame. It repeats in a romantic context with Angel. Love doesn’t last and is not to be trusted. But she tries to trust it anyways and it fails her again. But then the narrative shifts into but that’s not how it’s supposed to be!!
