Rental Car Toll Charges
TIP: Do your research before booking and compare rental companies. I received a message from my daughter 24 hours before her flight to New York in regard to paying for tolls in a rental car. Her route was from JFK to Maryland and couldnā€™t work out her options. I have previously written about the Orlando Visitor Toll Pass ā€“ Save up to 80% andĀ Illinois Tollway on 2023 road tripĀ States 46 & 47ā€¦

Gonna be kinda all over until the end of the month. Silo put in his two week after a lot of abuse from his superior, like utter misandry and discrimination due to his ADHD. I don't use buzz words lightly, this woman deserves it.
Though this is better overall for his mental health, and when he does get another job, it's a guaranteed 20k at minimum increase, he doesn't have another job lined up. Due to his mental health, I did involve his family and his parents are not gonna charge us rent next month, so we're good for now. However, if it takes longer than that, OOF.
Tumblr media
I may advertise my commissions and adjust the prices soon, to kinda make a cushion, but I ain't gonna die if I don't get any.
((I'll reply to the things I was tagged in tomorrow, it's quite hectic atm ahhhh))

In our current society (in North America and much of the western world) we can't completely avoid capitalism, but with some work and dedication we can reduce how much we have to participate in it.
Building community is hard, and it often requires a lot of up front investment in time and energy before you start seeing returns on that investment. I know not everyone is in a place where they can make those expenditures without getting anything back right away which is why it's even more important for those of us who can to start building sooner rather than later.
When you have a healthy, thriving community of people you can start withdrawing yourself more and more from reliance on a broken capitalist system. Yes there's mutual aid within a community but what's even more exciting to me is the option of participating in a barter/trade economy because it's so often more empowering for disabled folks and other marginalized groups that struggle in a capitalist economy.
And even more importantly than that, it's how we can survive a political landscape that is openly hostile to us. It's as impossible to avoid the fallout of the current political situation as it is to avoid participating in a capitalist economy, but being part of a strong and healthy community can at least help mitigate some of the harmful effects.
Neighbours sharing produce from their gardens can lessen the chances of food-borne illness as a result of lax food safety regulations.
Creating, maintaining, and sharing resources that help marginalized groups can help protect vulnerable people in your area when the larger resources are being dismantled or when people acting in bad faith are pretending to be a helpful organization.
Communities have more leverage (and resources) when it comes time to put pressure on local government to make progressive changes
As communities grow, empathy and compassion for the people in the community also spreads and that can help create allies against the bigotry and prejudice some of the community members face. When you're in community together with someone it's harder to depersonalize them. They aren't [insert oppressed group] member, they're the person who walks your dog and brings you beets in exchange for piano lessons, or the person who loaned you a spare tire so you could go to work and when you got home that evening they'd fixed your flat tire for free because they had the time and some spare material laying around from a repair they did on their own tire.
It's going to be really easy to give in to despair in the coming months and I'm not going to lie and say you can survive it. Some folks won't. I'm not going to lie and promise if you can make it through that things will get easier, they might not!
But if you can hang on I can promise you there's a chance things will get better, and I can promise you there's a whole heck of a lot of us out there trying to make sure it does get better. I can promise you that building community will help you survive when things start getting harder, and I can promise you that community can be a beacon of light in dark times, a bastion of hope in a desert of despair.
I know you're tired and I'll understand if you can't keep fighting, but I really hope you've got enough resilience left to hang on long enough to find a community to be part of.

Mom called me a shitty roommate today bc after months of her telling me to rent a uhaul (too young to do so) and then flaking out on me whenever I asked her if we could it on x day, I gave up on trying to get my bf's heavy TV and dresser and ordered a mountable tv, instead of buying more storage totes so that I could add to the ever increasing stack of totes in our guest bedroom
#leading up to and since raine moved in i have thrown tons of shit away and so has he#we both moved from larger rooms into a smaller shared room#meanwhile my parents moved into a bigger room with a bigger closet and claimed the garage for storage space#i have several decorative items that would look cute out in the livingroom without clashing with her style#but she considers all my items ''clutter'' so i have to keep them in my room or in a tote#except all my totes are already occupied by other shit#i threw away 90% of my friends items that i was storing here in an effort to make my room tidier#(and to ensure that my items are not littered around the livingroom and kitchen)#i got a bed frame with drawers so i could store items in there#i am not a horder and neither is raine but we have to condense two peoples worth of things into one room and two closets#and like i said before we both had bigger rooms before moving to this house#my room was way larger before. even with my giant ass desk (that doesnt fit in my room) my old room#didnt look cluttered bc it had lots of open space. even tho that was a 2 bedroom apartment#and this is a 3 bedroom duplex with garage the square footage in this house was budgeted poorly#my hallway is literally a snail spiral shape so a lot of space is lost to the curvature#not to mention my parents have bought more shit than we had at the old place to fill up space that we all shared in our old apt#except i am going to mention it bc i think this is totally unfair#i get that my mom has never liked when my room is messy. she's my mom and she is going to nag#but she does not have to use my room or bathroom (she has her own. thats bigger than mine)#and i keep my bathroom clean for guests#and she has made it clear that she is unwilling to help me even when i ask and tried to plan out ways to cheaply get more furniture#raine has had tote boxes in his car since he moved in bc he knows that we dont have a place for them inside#not to mention several collectable swords (including limited edition skyrim sword and genuine damascus)#which is kind of a fucking road safety hazard since they are real blades#but he puts up with it bc he doesnt want to add to the clutter#i bought this tv and wall mount bc i know that as long as my tv is grounded to a dresser i cant rearrange my room to make more space in here#and im donating my current tv to the guest bedroom bc they wont buy one for it#they also wont buy a dresser for it which is why my mom was hounding me to rent a uhaul for raines dresser#(i cannot stress this enough. we are both TWENTY. how are we going to rent a car. we need older adult help!!!)

#running the numbers on my budget and calculating how much i can afford per month on things#bc i will likely need a new car soon and i need to figure out what kind of budget i have for it and what my options are#and i get a bill from a doctor's visit in fucking november for almost $150 after insurance payout and my copay and like.#hey i was told on my insurance shit that i would only have a $50 copay! and i had met my deductible!#it legitimately looks like they waited until it rolled over to charge my insurance specifically so i would no longer have met it#like the visit was in november. why did you wait until mid-april to payout?#my insurance rolled over at the beginning of april. huh. what a fucking coincidence.#idk who to call about this but this stinks of bullshit#i should not be owing that money. period. and there is absolutely no excuse for sending me the bill for it eight months later.#and i need to clean my apartment. and i need to feed myself at some point.#and i need to cancel att and set up the comcast internet that's recently been folded into rent as an amenity#i have already gone through and canceled all the subscriptions i don't use#so check that box off#and like. i don't want a roommate and i really am not looking for a relationship with anyone.#but doing all this shit on my own and having to pay every bill on my own and having to do all the cooking and cleaning on my own is just.#exhausting#i am so so tired#and i'm looking at things and i intend to go through online school for a communications degree which will be reimbursed through my job#and there may be a lead position opening up soon which everyone seems to be pushing me towards which would be a title change#and significant raise at the cost of added stress#and i feel like butter spread over too much bread#i need to work anti-burnout measures into my schedule and budget now to get the structure i'll need#but i am already so tired#but i need the raise and i need the degree to gtfo of this career

I wonder if I can save money on food when moving out by just getting a 30 day supply of ā€œjust add waterā€ MREs and cutting the portions in half? The only other food items Iā€™d get would be flour and rice (in bulk), and maybe eggs, so I could pay only around 200 dollars in food for a supply of two months or potentially longer. It would work wonders for my executive dysfunction, not having to cook much. Plus, I could save money on gas by not having to drive to the store very often. I could also grow food indoors.

i work really hard to not compare myself to others but itā€™s so bizarre to me to see other people my age like. going out all the time or travelling or even just living on their own. what do you mean all your money goes to just your own living expenses & your own fun and you arenā€™t the financial backbone of your family. every time i take vacation days a coworker will ask me if iā€™m going somewhere and its like no lmfao do you think im made of money. i dont think about it much because it doesnā€™t really do anything but upset me but deep down im so resentful of every other young adult who doesnā€™t have to pay their parents bills and just gets to blow their money on whatever the fuck whenever the fuck
#my best friend lives at home but doesnā€™t pay rent or anything at all and he was talking about buying new games & joycons & stuff#and he just dropped like. a large amount of money on getting a new dog#(impulsively. literally the whole thing happened in 24 hours and he wasnā€™t thinking about getting a dog at all)#and like its not like i WANT him to not be able to spend his money how he wants#iā€™m just resentful. because i keep trying to budget for things i want or even a fucking car so i can actually go places without it taking#over an hour. and then something unexpected pops up that i need to cover#like ive used 175% of the money iā€™ve earned this year on household bills#my savings are in shambles because nobody could afford shit so i had to cover it#and like. im happy to do it i donā€™t want my family to be screwed. theyre good to me.#but i hate this. and listening to people talk about throwing away money or impulsively spending tons without needing to worry about being#able to keep the lights on or whatever ā€¦ tests my patience a little#im so resentful of having to be the grownup all the fucking time. why does everyone else get to be fiscally irresponsible and i donā€™t#freewheeling bitextual#even just people moving out ā€¦ like i could afford to move out and i WOULD be if it wouldnā€™t completely fuck over everyone else#ā€˜oh you live with your parents? you must save a lot of money that wayā€™ fuck you!!! fuck you!!!!!!!#see what did i say. this train of thought is bad for me <3

WAIT IM SO HAPPY??? every time i've moved states and had to register a car, the car was new to me, so i'd have to get a new title and all that. so i kinda assumed that when you move states, you gotta pay like almost $800 to register your vehicle, and while i've just now got that money set aside for when i move, i was bummed it was gonna cost so much. but i was just reading up on it and it seems like since i don't need a new title or anything it's only going to be around $50-70???? thank fucking god. that makes my life so much easier

one of my favorite parts of being an adult with stable & disposable income is doing little things for my friends. husband's best friend tells the group chat that he lost his job? hubs and I message each other at the same time to go "imma send him money for snacks." we've been playing fortnite with our partner and her sister & her sister is the only one without battle pass? consider it gifted. these people have been here for me for the last 4+ years and we were all riding the struggle bus together in college, it makes me so happy to be able to give them a little bit of happiness especially when I don't get to see them in person that much anymore

Literally NEED my job to send my contract through so I can find out how much Iā€™ll actually be earning and budget for rent and stuff because my god if I donā€™t move out Iā€™m going to [redacted]
#like tell me why my mom is constantly like ā€˜oh you donā€™t need to move out! itā€™s not urgentā€™ and talks as if iā€™ll be living here forever#like yes i do. yes i do need to move out if you want both of us to continue living#on maslowā€™s hierarchy of needs you can scrub out literally every other need and replace it with MOVE OUT#i am. so tired. of this place#literally the only good thing here is mabel and i canā€™t even bring her with#but itā€™s still worth it iā€™m sorry girl. iā€™ll visit#like this place is so toxic to my mental health and i really need to light a fire under my ass and get moving otherwise i will still#be rotting here for god knows how long. and one of the things that was holding me back was that i was like ā€˜but what if i save enough for a#deposit on a houseā€™ girl NO ONE DOES THAT ANYMORE!!!#aspire to long term rent like a normal young millennial!! GET OUT#i need to light a fire under my ass. iā€™ve got the job and thatā€™s a start. i need to narrow down a range of areas i could move into#so basically 1) the town where my job is or 2) one of about 3 major towns that have train stations#if i am within say 1 mile of the train station i am okay#iā€™m not budgeting for a car. iā€™m just. iā€™m not. that will schew all my figures#do estate agents ever help you find houses? or do you just have to use their search engines and put in an application yourself#like could i call them and be like ā€˜hey i need approximately this; i am this; and my budget is this. help?ā€™#i donā€™t think iā€™ll have That many problems finding somewhere. like iā€™m a landlordā€™s dream. iā€™m single; no kids; no pets (as stated; leaving#mabel with my mom); donā€™t drink and donā€™t smoke. iā€™m boring and clean and iā€™m neurotic so i will pay rent on time#itā€™s just finding something that fits my criteria and my budget and doesnā€™t have black mold or faulty wiring or mice or a creepy man#tl;dr anyone need a roommate. because uh. help#personal#rant

Budget Cars for Rent: A Comprehensive Guide to Choosing the Right Car for Your Needs
When planning a trip, one of the most important decisions you'll make is how to get around. Renting a car offers freedom and flexibility, allowing you to explore your destination at your own pace. However, finding the right budget cars for rent that suit your specific needs can be a daunting task. With a variety of options available, it's essential to consider factors like cost, size, and the purpose of your rental. This guide will help you choose the perfect rental car for your next adventure.
1. Understand Your Travel Needs
The first step in choosing the right budget car is understanding your travel needs. Consider the purpose of your trip: Are you traveling alone, with family, or with a group of friends? If you're traveling solo or as a couple, a small and fuel-efficient car may be the best choice. For larger groups or families, a more spacious vehicle like an SUV or minivan may be necessary to accommodate passengers and luggage.
For business travelers or those staying for an extended period, comfort and functionality should be prioritized. In this case, opting for a sedan or a premium car might make your journey smoother without breaking the bank.
2. Consider Fuel Efficiency
When looking for budget cars for rent, fuel efficiency should be a top priority. Renting a fuel-efficient car can help you save money on gas, especially if you plan to cover long distances. Compact cars and hybrids tend to offer the best fuel economy, making them ideal for city driving and short road trips. Always check the fuel policy of the rental company to avoid surprises, as some companies may offer full-to-full fuel options, while others may charge upfront for a tank of gas.
3. Check for Additional Features
Even when renting a budget car, itā€™s important to consider the features that will make your driving experience more enjoyable. Some rental companies offer budget-friendly vehicles with modern features like GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and rearview cameras. These can be particularly useful when navigating an unfamiliar city. Before booking, review the carā€™s features to ensure it meets your expectations and adds value to your rental experience.
4. Compare Prices and Offers
To get the most affordable deal on your rental, itā€™s essential to compare prices from different companies. Look for promotions and discounts that might be available for longer rental periods, or during off-peak seasons. Many affordable car rental Dubai companies offer deals, especially if you book in advance or through online platforms. Keep an eye out for hidden fees, such as charges for additional drivers or insurance, to avoid going over your budget.
5. Size and Comfort Matter
While cost is an important factor when choosing budget cars for rent, donā€™t compromise on comfort. If youā€™ll be spending a lot of time on the road, ensure that the vehicle you choose has enough legroom and luggage space for your trip. Economy cars are great for short, city-based trips, but for longer journeys, it may be worth spending a bit more on a larger vehicle that offers extra comfort and space.
Conclusion
Choosing the right budget car for rent is about finding the perfect balance between affordability, comfort, and functionality. By understanding your needs, prioritizing fuel efficiency, checking for useful features, and comparing prices, you can ensure that you get the best deal possible.
For reliable and affordable car rental in Dubai, check out Lumiere Car Rental. They offer a wide range of budget-friendly vehicles to suit all travel needs, ensuring you have a comfortable and affordable journey throughout your trip.
