Fuck It Friday!

Congrats to us for surviving premiere day! Celebrating it by sharing some of what I've dubbed the Secret Wip. Blame my co-conspirators @hippolotamus and @slightlyobsessedwitheverything, and read this snippet by Hippo for some context. Eddie rubs his thumb over the stretched skin soothingly and he leans forwards to press a small kiss just above her belly button. “Better?” he asks, eyes flickering over her face has he scrutinizes her expression. “Yeah, it’s fine now,” Shannon replies, rubbing her belly thoughtfully. “That was fucking sore though.” “What was sore?” Shannon groans as Tommy’s voice floats down the corridor, and a second later he walks into the lounge, peering at them suspiciously. “Jesus Christ, not you too! I’m fine, people!” Shannon glares at Eddie, as though it’s his fault her uterus suddenly decided to become active. “Is she fine?” Tommy asks, directing his question to Eddie because he knows as well as Eddie does that Shannon likely won’t admit she’s in labour until the baby is crowning. Eddie – a trained medic who has delivered many a baby – is apparently a reliable source when it comes to his wife’s status. “I guess?” Eddie shrugs, and out of the corner of his eye he sees Shannon nod resolutely. “It didn’t feel as hard as contractions usually do. Probably just Mr Sir rearranging himself and causing a Braxton Hick’s.” Tommy tuts and drops to his knees beside Shannon. He taps her belly three times with his knuckle and clears his throat. “Theodore, this is your father Part Three speaking. I’m going to need you to stop partying up in there. It’s uncomfortable for your mom and makes her very cranky.” It’s a testament to just how pregnant Shannon is that Tommy doesn’t get a clip around the ears for the last comment. Instead, she smiles at him fondly and gives his head a little shove. “You’re such a dork.”

I am now knee deep into the possibility of buddietommyshannon. Tommy and Shannon obviously don't have romantic feelings for each other/fuck but they're so fucking in love with those two codependent idiots and they all just fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Tommy completes them!

They’ve been throupled for years at this point. Shannon has heard Chris, 13 now, thirteen, say many times still cannot believe the way to make his parents stay together was for both of them to date some other guy, but they’ve all come to terms with all of this years ago. Buck, for all he used to be just an exciting fuck for Shannon, is actually a good stepfather. Chris adores that man to death and beyond, and Shannon loves that about him. For all their fuckups, Buck has become the stabilizing force they all needed. Moving back in with Eddie was easy, adding Buck to that was easier still, and now, 4 years on, they sit at their dinner table, Chris was excused to go play his video games (head phones in of course, Eddie hates the sound of those damn games) and the three of them are having easy, smooth conversation when, slowly, like they’re planning something, that Tommy guy comes up again.

There was this disaster involving a cruise ship or something last month and Buck and Eddie have been hanging out with this other firefighter more and like she’s glad they have friends outside the station for once but this feels… like something else. Apparently he’s gay. Apparently he’s single. Apparently these things are supposed to matter to Shannon

“Baby, if you’d seen him you’d get it he’s hot as fuck.” That perks her up.

“Buck! Darling,” Darling was The Buck Word. Whenever Buck became Darling and she became Baby, Eddie was serious “be sensitive. It’s not that we’re unsatisfied we’re just… curious.”

“Curious about what exactly?” She knows. But if they’re about to suggest what she thinks they are they’re gonna have to say it.

“We wanna fuck him so bad but.” But you can’t be there because he’s Kinsey 6 gay, Shannon can read between the lines and Buck has been an open book since the first night she dared him to kiss Eddie.

“I have got to see this fucker for myself.”

“Babe he is SO hot.” Buck reiterates. Buck has always been vocal about who he wants and how he wants them. It made the transitional stages of their relationship, first as just Buck and his best friend’s estranged wife who he’s fucking then as Buck and the married couple he was sleeping with and then finally as them so much easier because Buck told them everything he was looking for and Shannon parsed that out to Eddie and Eddie decided if he was willing to take the risk.

“There’s a medal ceremony in two weeks. You can be Buck’s plus one” Eddie is shifting in his chair. He wants this too. It’s rare to ever see Eddie express desire for someone outside of her or Buck, that makes this interesting.

“And I’ll decide if he’s worth it.” She enjoys making Eddie squirm, always has and now she has to sate her own curiosity about this mystery man.

“Thank you babe.” Buck jumps out of his seat to kiss her. “We’ll tell you all about it. Uh. If it happens. Promise.”

buddieshannontommy - pop star or some kind of musician au (can be all or one of them!!!)

FUCK YEAH OKAY!!!

Shannon is lead vocalist & on keyboard. Eddie is backup vocals & lead guitarist. Tommy plays bass guitar, and Buck is the drummer. They’re a very popular band that initially started making covers of popular songs, and got recognised by a label when they posted one of their covers on YouTube and it went viral.

Initially it was just Shannon and Eddie, husband and wife who sang and played duets together, but Buck and Tommy saw them at a bar where they were playing (they were playing immediately after them) and approached them after the gig was finished, suggesting they have a go at playing together. They organised a time to meet and immediately gelled, deciding to debut as a band after a couple weeks of rehearsals. They’re met with great applause and are a band from then onwards.

They’re all quite surprised at how well they get along and quite so quickly. Word spreads of their band and they start playing at bigger clubs, which is when they also start making their YouTube videos. Buck and Eddie become very good friends quite quickly and notice some chemistry between them, but the same is also felt with Buck and Shannon, and Eddie and Tommy. They do their best to brush it off, what with them being two established couples, but one night they get a bad review after one of their shows and they all end up cuddled on the couch. Something shifts in their dynamic that evening, as Eddie falls asleep in Tommy’s arms and Buck and Shannon end up sprawled on top of each other. They talk about it the next day and admit their shared attraction for each other and tentatively agree to try a relationship as the four of them.

A few years after the band has formed and buddietommyshannon has been established, they decide to go on tour. Christopher is around 3 years old at this point - having been raised by 4 parents - and is their little roadie, always keeping their moral high. He loves to play the drums with Buck, swinging his little drumsticks around and whacking anything he can reach. The tour takes them throughout the majority of the USA, hitting all the major cities, and rather than hiring a fancy bus, Tommy decides to rent them a campervan, turning it into somewhat of an RV holiday (as much as it can be when you’ve got a number of trucks following you with all the stuff needed for a band setup etc). It gives them a good opportunity to spend time together as a family - something hard to come by when you consist of 4 very well known pop stars

Buck suggests they write a song for Christopher, a lullaby to help him sleep at night while they’re away. Eddie and Tommy write the lyrics and Buck and Shannon compose the melody for it and they record it a few days before Christopher’s 4th birthday. The lullaby gets debuted at a show a few months later, before the official release of the EP, and becomes their most popular song, being nominated for a Grammy. The four of them attend the Grammys, where they get a lot of questions about their unconventional relationship type, and dedicate their win to their son, who watches them through the TV. When they get off stage, Eddie shows them a video of Christopher from his Abuela, with the kid cheering for them on the couch as he watches his Mom and Dads win an award. His joy makes their absence almost worth it, and they dial back the number of shows they do after that so they can spend more time with their kid.

Stop stressing.” “Eddie has never been stress-free a day in his life,” Tommy teases with a grin. “I feel like that’s a lot to ask.” The universe must take a brief moment of pity on Eddie, as Shannon’s witty response is stopped in its tracks. A look of discomfort flickers across her face, and she presses the heel of her hand to her abdomen with a wince. “Is that another contraction?” Eddie asks, immediately on high alert. He knew there was something going on with Shannon, his body feeling tense and on edge around her. And his instincts haven’t been wrong yet. “Eddie, I swear to God, if you ask me that again,” Shannon grits, her teeth clenched with discomfort. She puffs out a short breath and twists in her seat, a small whine issuing from the back of her throat. “I’m going to ask you that until the baby is in my arms,” Eddie retorts. He reaches over and stretches his fingers over Shannon’s belly again, and this time her abdomen is firmer, like an over-inflated beach ball. “This definitely feels stronger than a Braxton Hicks.” Shannon hangs her head back, resting it on the back of the couch, and Tommy gently runs his fingers through her hair as he comes to stand behind her.

what is the tommy/shannon dynamic in the polycule

Tommy and Shannon are partners, but not romantically. Tommy's gay, so he doesn't feel romantic love towards Shannon but my god does he love her platonically. They're best friends who have regular movie nights with cuddles and blankets. He's someone Shannon feels comfortable using as a sounding board or talking to, especially because he knows the trials and tribulations of dating Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley and everything that comes with all that. Shannon is a big rom-com fan as well as Tommy is so they initially bonded over those and now they have regular movie nights when Buck and Eddie have overnight shifts and Tommy's home. Tommy is also the first person to run out and grab Shannon the stuff she's craving because he's the designated Snack Getter and he's got a whole big list of all the things she likes now. And Shannon loves to paint Tommy's nails when he's anxious and going through a biting phase - she gets a whole load of fun colours and gives him a bit of a spa day about it all.

“You could probably do with some competition,” Tommy replies with a smirk. Buck definitely feels like he’s intruding now. Eddie’s hand runs down Tommy’s chest as he hums in agreement, and their lips meet in a chaste kiss.

Bobby wrenches the screen from Buck’s grasp, hurriedly exiting the game. His face burns, as though he’s been caught watching something NSFW, rather than building his dream home on a game designed for people with god complexes. “I wasn’t playing a video game,” he responds, keeping an outwardly cool exterior.

Buck lines himself up and takes a deep breath. He closes his eyes and pictures himself running down the stretch between him and the vault, imagines his body twisting as he jumps – his ritual before any routine. Now, if he could just be normal in front of Tommy Kinard and not fuck this vault up, that would be great.

“He’s just taking a bath, Eddie, he’s fine. Little Miss kept him up kicking all night so he’s probably just relaxing a bit,” Tommy replies, running a hand through Eddie’s hair. Eddie opens his mouth but Shannon cuts him off, the hand that had originally been resting on her belly coming to stroke across Eddie’s arm.

Something pings in the back of Tommy’s brain, and he understands how it looks. A 9-1-1 call which involves her brother’s boyfriends – it’s understandable Maddie’s a little terse. “Evan’s fine, he’s at home,” Tommy prefaces, getting that bit out of the way first.

“Actually, he’s due to trial a bottle now, if you wanted to give that a go?” Eddie looks up at Buck, bewildered. Sure he’s got his own experience with babies in the NICU – his son had spent a lot of time there in his first months of life – but this is so far out of his area of expertise

Eddie sighs, resting his splintered hands on his thighs. Buck will find out one way or another, it’s best it happens sooner or later. “Fine,” he begins.

He swallows thickly, laying the receiver back down again, and hastily makes his way from the room. It’s finally happening, he’s finally going to be of some use in this damn fight! A chance to stick it to his parents after years of ignoring him, treating him like he’s no more than an insect on a rug.

“I’m sure Alfie will be a very well-behaved boy,” Bobby smirks, looking between Buck and Tommy. “He’ll sleep in until 8am and then very politely ask if he can open his presents.” “Not with Evan’s DNA in there he won’t,” Tommy grins, and Buck feels himself flush.

Ooh I had a thought which was building on one @hippolotamus came up with. This is how the 'Cule deals with illness

Buck sleeps for days when he's unwell and it takes an ungodly amount of bribery to get him out of bed and onto the couch. Usually the promise of cuddles from any of his partners will do, bonus points if there's more than one involved. Shannon usually joins him in eucalyptus scented baths, Eddie will make him his Abeula's spicy soup and Tommy drags him outside to lay in the grass while they listen to true crime podcasts. After doing this a couple times, Tommy sets up a hammock he and Buck can lay in which is perfect for cuddles

Eddie denies he's sick and will work/ continue husbanding until he's on death's door, unless someone calls him out on it first. Unfortunately for him, Shannon has been married to him for the best part of her adult life and can sniff out a bullshit excuse for unusual tiredness from a mile away. She forces him to rest and shoves food, water, and medicine into him until he feels better. Buck reads him sappy romance while Eddie's on enforced bed rest, giving him lots of kisses and cuddles, and Tommy watches a plethora of sports games with him (or Love Island if Buck and Shannon aren't home).

Shannon gets wicked migraines when she's sick which often comes with the inability to tolerate a lot of foods. Buck has perfected a plait that keeps her hair out of her eyes but doesn't make her head feel like it's going to explode, and also massages her scalp when he's doing this. Eddie sets up the whole house with blackout curtains and has a constantly changing rotation of electrolyte drinks for her that he'll feed her so she doesn't have to open her eyes to find the bottle (he also kisses the excess from her lips so that's a win). Tommy knows exactly what snacks she can stomach and constantly has them on hand. He also takes her to get her daith pierced one day.

Tommy runs so hot when he's sick and gets fevers at the drop of a hat. He's messy when he's sick so Buck makes sure there's always a trash can by him, for tissues and other uses and cuddles Tommy while pressing ice packs to his forehead. Eddie takes showers with Tommy because he finds cooling down after them helps break his fevers, and Eddie will let Tommy rest and hold him up while he washes him (this can sometimes be an Eddie and Buck job). Shannon drags both couches in the lounge together and sets them up with a pile of blankets, puts Love, Actually on TV and her and Tommy curl up and watch trashy movies all day.

You loooove me,” she teases, barely containing the smirk showing through.  “Fine! I admit it. I, Thomas Kinard, want to help with the Shannon Diaz baby agenda. Sue me.” “So, what’s the problem?”  “Other than the fact that I don’t have sex with women?” He levels her with what she calls his ‘Bitchy Gay’ face, both eyebrows raised and head tilted in a way that ‘screams condescending’. “Did you need another reason or…?”

I think they all have a variety of pet names for each other some of which get used interchangeably, but they want to be 100% sure that every member of the 'Cule feels loved and cherished, so here are the names they use for one another:

Buck:

To Eddie: baby, babe, Eds, Sir (when he's in Brat Mode™️) To Tommy: babe, baby, Sir, Thomas To Shannon: sweetheart, Shan, baby, sweet girl

Eddie:

To Buck: baby, sweetheart, darlin', mi amor To Shannon: baby, honey, mi vida, carina, Shan To Tommy: handsome, señor (when he's in Brat Mode as well), babe, bud

Tommy:

BuddieTommyShannon: while Tommy and Shannon don’t share the same level of connection as with Eddie and Buck, they are Besties. They have marathons of terrible B level horror movies and always have the best snacks. Buck is perpetually offended that they won’t tell him where their secret stash is. Meanwhile, Eddie knows they camouflage them in empty boxes of the gross healthy cereal Tommy loves.

PLATONIC SOULMATES!!!!! In my head they also give each other lil kisses cause why can't friends who are also dating two of the same men not have just a little smooch every so often?

They are also expert blanket/pillow fort makers and have transformed the lounge on many occasions.

Do you have any thoughts around fun pregnancy moments between shannon and tommy? shannon and buck? tommy and eddie?

Boy do I ever

Shannon and Buck nest like absolute motherfuckers towards the end of their pregnancy. It's not unusual for Eddie and Tommy to come home to find them curled up in their little nest of soft things, shirts pulled up and swollen bellies exposed while they rub their tight skin cause it can get itchy. Sometimes when they're in their little nest, one of them will feel their baby kick. When this happens, they like to press their bellies together so the babies can feel their sibling and have a "playdate", as Buck likes to call them.

Along the nesting line, Eddie and Tommy have to get very creative with where they hide their jumpers when Buck and Shannon begin their nesting because the next thing they know, they've either all been added to the nest, or are on Shannon and Buck's person. Eddie stores a bunch at the station until Buck finds them and they're gone, so Tommy goes out and buys them a whole bunch and hides them in the attic because Shannon and Buck have been given very strict instructions that they are not to go up the ladder under any circumstances.

For some reason when he's pregnant Buck goes completely off pickles, meaning Tommy is now the only other person in the house that likes them as much as Shannon does. When she starts craving them, he makes it his weekly task of finding a new market/ grocery store that sells them and he'll buy two jars (one for him and one for Shannon) and when he gets home, they have a taste testing day where they'll compare them to all the other pickles they own. Shannon's cravings get to the point that her baby is nicknamed Pickle (by Eddie at first, followed quickly by the other two)

In all honesty it was @hippolotamus and @slightlyobsessedwitheverything who had the original idea of A/B/O buddietommyshannon with pregnant buck and pregnant Shannon, Hippo did the smut (and very well) and I nominated myself to write the birth 😅😅

But I'm so glad we've opened your eyes!!! They're a delightful ship to play with. Shannon and Tommy together are a force to be reckoned with

i just want to say i am living for buddietommyshannon like what a polycule. i love any universe where shannon lives, just considering what the dynamics would be is so much fun. i am just rolling around in this universe where this polycule exists.

This is truly delightful news, when @hippolotamus and @slightlyobsessedwitheverything and me came up with it I don't think we thought anyone would like it cause it's such a weird combination? But them and their little twins who aren't really twins cause one is Shannon's and one is Buck's have our entire hearts and I can't wait to show off more!!! Those babies are so loved with their 4 parents and big brother kjdfhsdsfkj.

Also have it noted that Shannon and Tommy together are a force to be reckoned with BUT Buck and Shannon are what give Eddie his first grey hair
