Amber Freeman x reader

Word Count: 2.1k

Summary: Amber Freeman needs several hugs and the constant company of her girlfriend.

Amber sat in her art class with the most displeased frown etched upon her normally smirking face. She scoffed as her phone buzzed with another text, reminding her of the reason for her current state of irritation. 

Her eyes shifted in annoyance to the usually occupied but noticeably very empty seat next to her before they returned to the text conversation open on her phone. 

Amber: Baby you’re late

[Seen 10:05am]

Amber: Did your chem test run long or something?

Amber: Helloo?? Are you not coming to class?

[Seen 10:09am]

Amber: Y/N stop leaving me on read, where the hell are you?

Y/N: amberrrr yk I love you, right <33?

Amber: Duh.

Amber: You’re ten minutes late babe. Did you fall into the toilet or something?

Y/N: haha very funny but, no

Y/N: how mad would you be if i told you i wasn’t coming to class…

Amber: Mad enough to finally snap and stab u like I’ve been threatening to

Y/N: guess this is it for me then, been nice knowing ya Ambs  >:(

Amber's foul mood dissipated slightly at her girlfriend’s dorky nature. If she wasn’t so used to the teasing flirtatious remarks from the other girl by now, she was sure she would have blushed. 

Amber: If you’re not coming to class where are you? Got someone more important to be with?

Y/N: babe you know that could never be true

Y/N: i have a dentist’s appointment

Y/N: i’m really sorry i didn’t tell u, but i know you would have weasled your way into coming with me if i had

Y/N: and i didn’t want u to miss class cuz of me

Amber: But I hate being here without you. You know that.

Y/N: i know, i’m sorry, i’ll be back for lunch if that helps at all

Y/N: i’ll bring u whatever u want from that place u love if u promise not to stab me

Amber: Alright bring me the caesar salad and some fries. 

Amber: No promises btw. >:)

Amber pulled herself away from her phone and began lightly sketching on the pad in front of her. Unable to stay mad at her girlfriend, she let herself calm down as she settled into the rhythm of one of her favorite classes. A soft smile graced her lips as she thought about how caring her girlfriend was, tricking Amber into attending class and offering to bring her an off campus lunch. This girl had her full heart and as much as Amber prided herself on her independence, she knew she’d do anything to keep Y/N by her side.

The bell rang, signaling the end of the class period and the start of the next one. Amber trudged to her next class begrudgingly, knowing she’d have to sit through three more classes til she’d next get to see her girlfriend. 

The next two classes were a bore, as she’d expected. She felt herself slip back into her usual brooding demeanor as she stalked into the history classroom. Amber walked towards her seat and slumped down into it.

“What’s got your panties in a twist, Freeman?” Mindy asked with a shiteating grin. Amber rolled her eyes at Mindy’s remark as Tara slapped the Meeks-Martin girl lightly on the shoulder. Mindy shot Tara a wounded look and it was Tara’s turn to roll her eyes. 

Tara fixed her gentle gaze upon Amber before speaking, “Upset because Y/N’s at the dentist today?” 

Amber’s brow furrowed at the knowledge that Tara had seemingly been informed of her girlfriend’s whereabouts. She stupidly felt hurt for some reason. She looked at Tara with what was almost a snarl. “How do you know? She told you?” 

“Easy tiger!” Mindy laughed, thrilled at the opportunity to tease Amber while the girl was too distracted to quip back. She quickly shut up at the wicked glare Amber sent her, turning to instead focus on the mind-numbingly boring reading they had been assigned.

Tara, knowing Amber well enough to not fear the girl’s cold exterior, remained unbothered by the intimidating expression Amber held. “She told me in chemistry before she left. Told me to make sure you didn’t go on a rampage when you noticed she wasn’t gonna show up to art.”

Amber sighed, feeling stupid for being so quick to jump down her best friend’s throat about the situation. “Right, sorry Tara. Didn’t mean to get so defensive.” 

Tara gave her a sweet understanding smile in return as the two girls began taking notes on the chapter. History class passed by extra slow as Amber swore she literally felt the minutes tick by. The girl shot up and gracefully slipped out of the room as soon as the lunch bell sounded, leaving Tara and Mindy to only smile at the girl’s very obvious rush to be reunited with her girlfriend.

Amber sat by herself at the group’s normal table, glaring holes into her phone as she waited for any sign of life from Y/N. As enough time passed for the rest of the group to take their seats at the table, Amber silently debated whether or not she should go on that rampage Tara had mentioned after all. She smirked to herself at how it would lift her mood to lock some poor unsuspecting soul in a bathroom stall. 

Amber’s group of friends chatted amicably, ignoring the girl’s quietness and even feeling sort of grateful for a change from her usual snarky demeanor. Tara glanced at Amber from the corner of her eyes, knowing the girl was likely planning someone’s demise and silently willed Y/N to make a faster arrival. 

Amber felt her jaw clench and her nostrils flared in deep annoyance. She had woken up that morning (just like every other morning since she began dating Y/N) feeling particularly soft and happy at the thought of getting to spend another day with her girlfriend. The girl’s absence, however, was seriously about to set Amber off. She was going to force herself to calm back down and just send Y/N a text until her ears perked up at the mention of her favorite franchise in her friends’ conversation.

“C’mon Mindy,” Wes scoffed, “Stab 8 is easily the best. You only prefer the original because your uncle’s in it.” 

Mindy went to retort back but was interrupted by Liv, who chimed in to agree with Wes. “Stab 8 is so much better. That’s the one by the director of Knives Out, right?”

Tara’s eyes widened comically as she took note of the murderous scowl upon Amber’s face. Being the only one to notice, she pleaded to whatever god might be listening for the conversation to come to an end. Just the opposite happened, however, as Amber’s posture became stiff and rigid and the girl stretched out to her full height before she gripped the picnic table with almost enough force to snap the pieces off into her hands. 

“You’re an idiot Wesley.” Amber spat with a tone full of hatred. Everyone but Tara seemed completely caught off guard at Amber’s burning tone. They all sat in silence, shocked by the girl’s tone. 

Wes cleared his throat nervously, “What?”

Amber sneered as she pushed herself into Wes’s face. “You heard me, momma’s boy. You’re an idiot, just like anyone else who thinks Stab 8 is anything but an absolute garbage movie.” She glared at Liv next, who shrunk back into Chad’s arms. Amber poked her finger harshly into Wes’s chest before gripping his shirt tightly and twisting it to pull him impossibly closer. “Next time you open your stupid fucking mouth around me, make sure you think twice.” 

Wes sputtered, mouth opening and closing like a fish, unsure of how to get Amber to loosen her grip enough so he could slip out of her strong grasp. He was about to speak in what probably would’ve been a plea for his safety until a voice spoke up firmly from somewhere behind Amber. 

“Amber, what the actual fuck?” Y/N clutched a brown paper bag by its handles as she alarmingly took in the scene splayed out in front of her. Amber had Wes clutched in a death grip, his face bright red from embarrassment and fear, while the rest of their friend group sat scared stiff, helplessly watching the interaction happen.

Amber released Wes so quickly he almost toppled over the bench backwards. She whipped around to face her girlfriend, finally feeling the sociopathic part of her quell at the sight of the girl standing behind her. “Baby!” She smiled gleefully as she scooped Y/N into a hug, nearly lifting the girl up off the ground. The group of friends behind her experienced whiplash at Amber’s sudden reversal of moods. 

Y/N seemed equally as shocked, trying not to let Amber’s tight and warm embrace completely divert her from what the girl had been previously doing. Amber sweetly kissed both her cheeks and Y/N’s brain finally caught up to her. Holding the bag of food in one hand, she clasped her other around Amber’s wrist, dragging the girl away from their group of friends, shooting them a confused yet apologetic look before setting her attention fully on Amber. 

“Amber?” Y/N questioned hurriedly, “What the fuck happened with Wes?” 

Amber tilted her head (very cutely, Y/N noticed) at her girlfriend’s bewildered expression. “Oh, that?” she said nonchalantly. Y/N nodded and Amber had to refrain from pulling the girl into another hug at the action. “He said Stab 8 was the best film in the franchise.” 

Y/N’s mouth dropped open at Amber’s reason for outright attacking Wes. “Amber!” She scolded her girlfriend like a mother would a child. “You can’t do whatever you just did to Wes because of his opinion of a movie.” 

Amber tried her best to not look like a kicked puppy for the second time that day. “Yeah I can babe. Especially when it comes to Stab.” She blinked slowly as she just stared at Y/N, who was torn up between being concerned for just how deep Amber’s love for the slasher franchise ran and (for the umpteenth time in her relationship with the girl) greatly wondering what the hell kind of parenting the Freeman’s had raised Amber with.

Y/N’s hand rose up to pinch the bridge of her nose, a habit Amber knew that meant the girl was stressed. Amber reached up and gently cupped her girlfriend’s cheek, smoothing her thumb over the soft skin. Their eyes met and Y/N made the decision to table the more serious conversation for a time when Amber and she were alone, knowing the other girl would remain fully stubborn on the matter unless she felt she could be fully vulnerable.

Amber heard her girlfriend sigh and watched as she nuzzled into the hand that was placed upon her cheek. “Let’s go to our spot, Amb.” Like it was a spell spoken straight from an enchantress’s lips, Amber dutifully followed behind Y/N.

The two girls took their place on the ground under the towering oak tree. Amber pressed herself as far as she possibly could into her girlfriend’s side, receiving a warm smile in return. She watched as Y/N reached carefully into the takeout bag, retrieved Amber’s salad and french fries and gently passed them into her waiting hands. Amber smiled wider than she had all day long and planted a tender kiss on Y/N’s forehead, before slowly beginning to eat her food while the other girl fondly watched. 

“I really missed you today Amber, I’m sorry again that I didn’t give you any notice about the appointment.”

Amber’s heart constricted firmly in her chest at her girlfriend’s soft apology. Y/N had a way of making her feel so whole, cared for, and seen. She gently placed a hand on the other girl’s knee, stroking the skin there just as she had done earlier with her cheek. “Don’t be sorry, just be happy that we’re together now.” 

Y/N smiled at her and the sight knocked Amber’s breath away. She knew at that moment, just as she had many others, just how lucky she was to have the privilege of being able to wholeheartedly love the girl in front of her. A love that, as silly and probably insane as it would be to compare the two, towered above even Amber’s sometimes irrational love for the Stab films.

•now dont get it twisted, curly ISSSS ponys muse and he draws him the most out of anyone else, but in nyc pony also takes to just drawing strangers!! in a cafe, subway, park, wherever!! he always has a paper and pen so its pretty easy to do, and sometimes he just gives it to em to keep!!!

•if anyone gives pony shit while hes trynna draw em, he would totally get into a fight over it, curlys always told pony he cant b nice to every one and give em a chance but pony nevverrr pays attention to him so atp instead of stopping him curlys just took to looking over for ponys safety and happiness

•SO when they visit tulsa, pony doesnt rlly have that drive to draw others for some reason, but he still WANTS to draw and so he just does it for the whole gang!! everyone always gets a drawing from him and its usually of them just during their everyday life!!

•but if the gang allll came together and rlly compared who pony drew the most, darrys winning (if ur wondering, sodas second, then two, srry steve</33) and pony couldnt tell u y, darry just inspired him that way

•curly loves being dramatic and says that darrys replacing him btw, and the gang didnt even KNOW how many times ponys drawn curly till curly said it, and pony had to hit him to get him to shut the hell up

•ANYWHO if u looked even deepperrrr into em, u would see that w everyone elses picture, theres a while background and stuff, yknow makes it seem more full, but w darrys pics the only thing in em WAS darry, no background no nothing

•and thats bc,,,,hold my hand here everyone,,,,he was starting to see darry just for himself, woaahhhhh :00000!!!! but honestly, pony couldnt tell u Y he was only drawing darry, he just assumed he was too lazy or something bc he soent most of his time just trying to get darry right

•howeverrrr ponys realized that hes more open to talking to darry, like having full blown convos w him about his interest n stuff how he feels, and dare pony says it, darrys actually pretty funny,,,like wow,,,they talked about his art first and that just opened the flood gates for other things, like darrys interest!! one of them being gardening (remember that for later,,,)

•the gang have also definitely noticed and they will purposely leave them alone so they could catch up, for the time pony spent in nyc and for his childhood, sometimes the gang doesnt even HAVE to do that, darry and pony would just dip and u can find them in the backyard or in the lot away from everyone else!!

•id like to think that curly would poke his head in like “fuck yall out here for” only to get lulled back inside VERY quickly so he doesnt fuck up the mood, BUTTTT BUT BUT BUT, there comes a time where darry actually jokes w curly and ponys thinking “wait a god damn minute hes never done that before,,,” and THATTSSSS when pony starts realizing hes getting closer w darry

•u might b wondering, y is THAT the moment pony realizes that?? and for that i tell u, to pony, darry joking w curly shows that darrys rlly trying to b apart of ponys life!!! even the parts hes not particularly understanding of w the ppl hes not rlly close to and thats all pony has truly ever wanted from the guy as he grew up

•pony gets soooo sad when they get closer and closer to the day they have to go back to ny, so every chance he gets to hang w darry, pony takes and DONT THINK DARRY DOESNT NOTICE IT!!! HE DOES!!! and he thinks its cute, never telling pony that bc he knows pony would b embarrassed but he knows!!

•now remember when i said pony loses that spark to wanna draw other ppl/places when he gets to tulsa,,,bc its ALSOOOO around this time where he genuinely tries drawing the places around him so its etched in his mind, most importantly tho, he draws the lot!!!

•ponys only drawn the lot like ONCE and that was before johnny died, now the lot looks different, completely different!!! theres more grass, noticeably theres a few fucked up looking flowers, nobodyyyy knows how the flowers got there, but PONY does,,,bc darry grew them!!

•one of the more deeper talks they had together, was that after pony left, darry couldnt stop thinking about the lot, it was a place where the gang went to hang out but after everything happened, nobody rlly went there anymore so w his new interest in gardening he took that as his first place to start, as a way of correcting his wrongs and changing the look of it in hopes that in the future the place would b a place to admire!!! and to lowkey mourn johnny

•that got pony out of his artistic rut SO fast, and when pony left, darry went to his room and he found a drawing of him in the lot, the first drawing pony made of him w a background!!! yahoooooo

ur SOOO right abt him being in law 2 help ppl ,,,,,, SO right w the idea of him walking around w a briefcase + slicked back ponytail + coffee GOHDDDD ok . okay . jobs I THINK suguru would have LETS GO !!

CERAMICIST - hed make these insane pots + sculptures n have showcases that r BOOKED like ,,, hes just so ,,,, pottery person 2 me,,,, n i feel like hed have a focus on using old pottery methods n keeping them alive in the modern day ,, like hes got some crazy intricate jomon pots, porcelain bowls + other kitchenware, n probs some bizen pots that he made dotted around his garden ,,,,, WAUGHHH I LOEV ART HISTORY

TATTOO ARTIST - ok . popular hc BUT STILL . hes worked his way up from being an apprentice in a huge shop -> owning his own lil studio pretty fast n hes GOOD . like hes got a rlly nice set of flashes that r colorful n playful but on himself hes probably got these super serious grayscale marbles and mythology plastered all over him [except for a family portrait mimiko + nanako made when they were like . 6 that he thought was so cute he got it tattooed on him] also i dont think hed b SUUPER in2 tattooing ppls names on other ppl or on himself, but maybe once u two have been dating for a LONGG while or r even almost a solid decade into marriage hed consider getting your name tatted somewhere hidden-but-not-really-hidden [womb tattoo, around the back of his ear, inner thigh]

MARINE BIOLOGIST - oHH MY GOHD OH MY GOHD OHHHHH MY GOHD i get super excited abt this cuz i wanna b a marine biologist SO BADDDDDD . its coming . TRUST !!!! anyway, he probably does some type of conservation bcuz . cmon . look at him . so he dives pretty often, like a weekly typa thing, BUT IMAGINE HIM IN THE SCUBA OUTFIT . he comes out sopping wet n hes probably rlly hot 4 a solid minute b4 the Stench hits u since ur both in an enclosed space and he smells like the underside of a dock.

CLASSICAL MUSICIAN - u know how i was talking abt how suguru would b a cellist ? yeah hed b a DAMN GOOD cellist like that man is principal cellist and hes so nice abt it 2 ,,, like he doesn't flaunt it and whenever someone in his section needs help w bowings or smthn else he gladly helps them !! he probably solos a ton on the tuba 2 ,,, like hes just SO GOOD at everything he picks up its insane

CONDUCTOR - same vein as the classical musician thing, he would b such a fine ass conductor ,,,,, like his facial expressions when the music gets intense and then it softens and hes swaying with the orchestra, hands gliding through the air ,,, also hed just b rlly good at keeping ppl in time and figuring out what each section was doing wrong.

AND I AGREE COMPLETELY the part abt him wanting to keep old art alive….. showcases constantly booked bc he’s just so skilled….. 😵‍💫 yeah. sugu as any kind of artist makes me insane. and him being good at pottery is just so…. weirdly attractive to me???? LIKE . him just having the most steady gentle hands…… teaching you how to mold the clay properly……… your back against his chest as he guides your hands . i need him so bad

AND . TATTOO ARTIST. yes it’s popular but it’s popular for a REASON (reason being: he is hot). hihihi! don't know if you read these but i so frequently enjoy your art that it felt like i should say something about it, it's so so pretty and maybe i'm biased because i'm badly obsessed with the royal trio (like, constantly on my mind, building an ita bag about it types of obsessed) but when something you care so much about gets barely represented and you see somebody put so much time and effort and skill into it it's not just nice it's like feeling seen y'know? i appreciate the art you put out there so so much :3

especially when it's like, sumi centric seeing as i think she sometimes gets kind of lost or delegated to a third wheel to the other two when i think she deserves the world actually. :D i hope you are having such a good day

and sumi centric FOR SURE!!! she's my favorite character :') ive said this before but i got into p5 for joker but i stayed for sumire............ idk smth abt her just pulls my heartstrings just right. i love her so much eeEEEE so im glad to give her some share of the spotlight that she deserves... //w// ive been a fan of p5 since 2018ish and royal since its release but.... my art wasn't all that back then so i (very frustratingly) wasnt able to draw the sumire/royaltrio/etc content that i wanted to see but.... now i have the time and the ability (SORTA!!!! still working on my art i know its also still not all that) to draw it so i will KEEP WORKING HARD EHEHHEHE

i think often sumire is outcasted from the other thieves which well. given that shes a dlc chara basically. makes sense but it also gives me a lot of room to think about her and spin some new ideas :3 double edged sword!!! but yeah YEAHYYEAH im really happy to hear that people like how i characterize her!!! i like to give her some edges and bitterness and frustration that canon didn't give her......

certified major loser here‼️im 20, been in college since i was 15, should have a bachelors degree already and very much do not, we rockin w an AA and technical program. i’ve dropped out like three times 💪 im not sure what college situation you’d be in (community vs uni, state vs private) but honestly the biggest things i’ve learned from trying and failing a LOT is that… it’s all chill. everyone’s at least a little scared and confused, mistakes are part of the learning experience, not knowing smth or asking a question doesn’t result in a duolingo bird level instakill (idk if that even made sense). there’s more of a sense of community than not because we’re all pretty much in the same boat. a lot of profs are nerds about what they teach and want you to know about it very very badly bc of that (i.e., ask questions. all of them. any that pop into ur head). i wrote a paper about Lil Nas X for cultural anthropology and my prof remembered me two years later. there is an incredible amt of freedom: with most general degrees, you can take whatEVER the FUCK u want roughly whenever the fuck you want so long as it falls into natural science, math, social sciences/humanities, or phys ed. you are more than allowed to drop a class, change your major, take more or less credits than expected, graduate a term early or late, pretty much anything. go ham. like 80% of my elective credits by choice were biology classes. queer lit was a baller time and counted for english cred. i’m gonna wrap this up bc it’s so long— don’t take anything before 9am (you’ll suffer), check the credit requirements early on so u have a vague idea of what to take, ASK FOR HELP WHEN U NEED IT whether it be a prof or advising services or the damn cashier’s office, expect to walk a fucking shit ton if it’s a larger campus, CHECK RATEMYPROFESSORS, enroll as soon as classes open, do NOT shirk your language classes if you didn’t take them in highschool, for the love of god bro don’t take more than a full time course load (15 credits at most institutions). yes, you could probably do it alright, but that is the DEVIL TALKING saying you’ll be fine. sorry this so long but i’ve been doing this so long i have so much to say. if u want more specific advice just say and i’ll be back‼️—local professional loser idiot with no bitches, no money, and a toy car collection

also also as you can probably tell i believe that wonderland is very much a real place but it is also a product of a dream since gen 5 had that dream world mechanic dunno how that's gonna fit in the story but its a nice thought

I'm delighted to meet another Emmet simp! One of the big motivators behind 'I wish for truth' was for Emmet to not be a sad sad angsty depressed boy for once. Hence, him being a mysterious, powered up, bamf lol. I'm so very glad my story was able to provide that break from the *angst* that I myself was looking for.

I'm honoured to have someone so aware of my works! Communication on AO3 is relatively limited and I don't get much feedback aside from what's available on there (and social media ain't really my thing), so it's nice to know that there are people who notice and appreciate. so this came out, as further celebration for the anni. VERY GOOD, much more appreciated than the prior story set lol that one was kind of boring but i get it

they made the kids for all the... kid-less ones, and the eisuke one that used to be VIP-exclusive is now here for everyone to buy (rip those ppl who gacha for it)

my rambling behind the cut (spoilers!!)

shuichi // as ud expect, shuichi has a literal hime ass looking girl (kikyo) for a daughter. she’s only 6, but is pretty calm and ladylike. She even calls her parents with –sama so... ok luckily shuichi does not strip down all the way in the presence of her daughter and only takes off his suit coat. thanks dad

anyway since shuichi has a break coming up, he wants to have a family trip how nice. but then the dang girl wants to go over to see eisuke WHAT when soryu exists and lives a block away? unrelatable, im closing the app anyway eisuke is her first love, which wtf he’s like 20 yrs older than u. even worse, mc says she’s been in love since she was like 3.

shuichi is reconsidering the benefits of democracy in his mind but eventually relents. but then they’re still following the fucc-days rule they set years ago. well, as he says in the story, RULES ARE RULES

blah blah i don’t want to go over everything bc then it’ll be boring reading the story when it comes out in engl right? also im tired bc it’s 1 am and i just want to play toontown in bed but nothing really bad happens. they are a v cute family bc shuichi is a pleasant and mature dad. kikyo and mc even do a little surprise for him at the end and it is very sweet. i feel like out of all the families, this is the most ideal

mad hatter // so they have twin sons named Rui and Kai. Rui is the childlike one that resembles Rhion in personality, Kai is the more mature one that resembles Al. man i forget that boy’s name but u get me i know they only can use stock bgs but it’s killing me that these dang kids get to sleep in what looks like separate king sized beds.

even though rhion is now a father of two, he still acts like... 10. i mean he still horni but it makes me feel weird

later it’s revealed that Ota teaches them both as an art tutor bc they both showed an interest in art. this is cute bc ota is bad with kids in this universe LOL

the ending on this one was weird cuz the kids didn’t show up in the entirety of the last ep bc it was about WORK. so uh... interesting

hikaru // so their son is named akari. haha get it because it means light. like how hikaru also means light. can mc name her kids unrelated to their father or is that against the Geneva convention

this kid actually acts like an actual little boy. like what hikaru would’ve probably turned into if not for the whole sad backstory. the story starts with akari just bringing a dog randomly home one day. he actually saved the dog (it is very cute bc he did not want the dog to cry), and then after a talk they decide to keep the dog as long as akari knows the responsibility of taking care of an animal.

so next day, the bidders come over to their house and everyone’s like woaw a dog. lol they come into their house as guests and eisuke and mamo still demand for beverages, they all suck

akari names the dog... “Light” (Raito) and i want out of this nightmare. Naturally bc Light is an abandoned dog it’s still kind of bad with interacting with things. But then Light suddenly be giving the ( ╹ਊ╹) to soryu bc remember, animals love him. everyone clowns on soryu for being an unintentional dog whisperer and then akari is like “soryu san pls make me ur apprentice” and he gives some advice like approaching it slowly, and talking to it from the front instead of back.

blah blah there’s a situation where Light goes YEET after a Doberman gets all angry and then hides bc then another dog is scaring it. hikaru swoops in to the save the day as the Real Dog Whisperer. ok it’s cute when hikaru actually gets to look cool  for once LOL

luke // luke is cute on the bc “pre-story” scene he’s actually pretty open to the idea of having kids; he actually goes “well imo we should think abt it pretty soon, but i wanted to hear ur opinion on it” but then he gets horni. and then he’s like “our kids are going to have your collarbones. awesomeee im looking forward to that” ....ok

ok cut to the actual story and they’re in Japan. Luke’s kid looks... strange versus the others. why are his eyes so big? omg voltage his eyes arent going to be saucers just cuz he half white also the kid’s name is Yuri (Or Urey). They couldn’t think of any other Brit-styled names? Like Harry? Henry? William? Wilfred? hey stan be my princess btw he’s pretty cute, though he gives serious “timid kid that gets bullied in the children’s movie” vibes. He calls Luke “daddy” and mc “mammy/mommy”.

so luke talks about his relationship w/ soryu and eisuke and then yuri is like “i want friends like that” wow cute but also find less ethically-complicated friends

so luke lets yuri meet a young patient of his (haru) so they can be friends. they get along so it’s good. haru gets in critical condition later so luke zooms outta there to do the operation.

LOL but at the end yuri is like, “i want to make more friends. (...) can i go to the bidder’s room from now on?” this boy works fast

And then he’s like “Eisuke-san... please be my friend.” HIS POWER. even eisuke was like :O so then eisuke orders a whole bunch of food and books up to the penthouse. But then yuri’s like “...i like eisuke’s eyes” and everyone’s like oh man that’s gonna be his fetish

Baba: why have u started to have an interest in eyes Yuri: I read it from one of daddy’s medical books Hikaru: wtf u can read that at 4??? (...) Soryu: wat Yuri: um... i want soryu to be my friend too Yuri: bc soryu’s eyes are also powerfully cool...

eisuke // ok this gets an extended ramble bc the more annoying the story the longer i must complain

so you might be thinking, “oh so this is gonna be a flashback in some in media res styled story with your 2 kids, u know in the style of the others” and well, no you just go straight to white screen into the flashback, back when eito was smaller and thus a little more cute. well it’s not really false advertising bc they did say “reminisce” in the description. but i wanted to see eito be a good big brother for a moment! or... less good? man i wanted to see kaito go waaaah like a baby idk i wanted to see him exist

so back to the story they cut to small eito. even as a smaller punk he does fight with his dad a little, just w/ a more narrow vocabulary to work with. tho at this point he’s still pretty sweet so clearly eisuke clowning him day and night was a negative effect on his development. (doesn’t treat his child like a child) (child grows up to a punk that doesn’t respect him) (surprised pikachu) being the son of a billionaire means that this child has to go study at a very young age and listen to MOZART. no child of eisuke ichinomiya will be listening to degenerate bops like lee taemin’s criminal next day they all go to the very fancy school that eito will be attending. eisuke does a speech, but then eito is all like “why is papa over there all the time” in reference to how all the other parents in attendance are having fun with their children, but eisuke is busy talking to other people for business and connections etc. etc. mc kind of has a hard time trying to explain it to eito bc... it’s honestly poor parenting... eiji shows up after arriving late, and he’s like “gramps is gonna be with ya today! instead of papa” which is cute but then she’s like psst thanks for coming and im like oh... so grandpa just didn’t randomly come to the open house for fun he’s just gonna be surrogate dad while real dad is busy... aw... and then at the end eito’s like FUC THIS KINDERGARTEN. eisuke is like “(smh) don’t yell in public. (despite everything) you are still the eldest son of the Ichinomiya family”

and so afterwards it’s clear that eito does not want anything to do with this school. he just sits in the classroom until mc is there to pick him up instead of playing in the courtyard or w/e, wanting nothing to do with the other kids.

so later there’s a hiking trip for the students and both of their parents, and mc asks eisuke if he’ll be available for it. eisuke is like, “i have a business trip that day, so I’ll have to adjust my schedule” and he’s been very busy in the opening of a new business or w/e. mc tells him to not do so much for something like that and that it’s ok if she goes alone with eito on the trip.

it’s the day of the trip, and mc goes alone with eito. she notes that a lot of dads did indeed come along for the trip. she apologizes to eito and says that she did talk to eisuke about the trip before, but he��s simply busy for this day. and im like... but girl, you were the one who told him not to change his schedule for the trip. yes a trip may seem less important than business ventures, but don’t make it sound like you weren’t the one who stopped him. lol. idk why im pressed abt this single line of dialogue bc later she does realize she fucced up there well eito is just like w/e about it and has pretty much accepted that sort of thing

anyway eito goes missing later and one of the kids said that he told eito that his dad (eisuke) didn’t come bc his dad thinks that his work is more important than his son. so eito got mad and ran off somewhere

and then mc finally gets the lightbulb moment that eito... wants to see his dad!! he ran off to go try to see him somehow??? !! wow so sweet

it’s raining like a mf but then in her search for eito eisuke randomly pops out of nowhere. He’s like “ho i did not remember saying that i wasn’t coming” and she’s like “im sorrryyy” and both me and him are like “just find the dang kid”

ok yea they find eito, he starts being a good student, and u start to see where he starts being antagonistic towards his dad LOL etc. etc. lol this story annoyed me so i don’t feel like doing the rest of the play by play orz

Apothecary Diaries - manga rec

Summary

Before it had an English name I just called it Kusuriya no Hitorigoto. It's about mao mao who was forced by kidnappers to be a court maid. A plain freckled girl who is nonchalant about it but misses working as a doctor assistant for her father.When the high ranking court ladies babies come down with an illness that others deem a curse mao mao figures out the cause. Trying her best not to get stuck in court drama squabbles only leaving a note on the cause. However a eunuch named jinshi figures her out and is forced to solve palace mysteries while also working as poison tester. (it's fine she likes to test poisons on herself)😓 So basically Chinese historical story that deals with harem life that's also a detective and medical story. So their are modern conventions and solutions that we take for granted that are used as solutions in the story. That’s the draw of alot of time traveling stories but since its not we don’t get an outsiders perspective about what we would consider wrong. Maomao has resigned herself to whatever happens to her and dosen’t fight the system directly but she still has a strong sense of justice.

Maomao- the pharmacist

Maomao is the protagonist /pov chara and is the main reason you read the story she's very eccentric when it comes to medicines and poisons but is actually very quick witted and emotionally intelligent. She's a realist and down to earth often thinking little of herself. Maomao has resigned herself to whatever happens to her. She knows she's smart and might be toooo smart. Her only motivation is medcine so political infighting and conspiracies is the opposite of that. Whenever her sense of justice shows up it really bursts and it's great to see💖😊 Even though she pettite skinny and a commoner whenever she decides to do something it really feels like she's risking her life.Also aro/ace representing she really dosent care about much except medicine.💞

Jinshi -Eunuch

He works as a foil to maomao becasue hes a born noble, the boss of her and is one of the most conniving characters. His personality starts off as a sadist/playful tease but eventually really cares for maomao in the story as he gets to know her better. Jinshi is the one who presents the issues to maomao and is the one withe the authority to give her tools to solve the cases.He's obviously hinting at maomao alot but she dosent get it or doesn't care.His job is to work in the harem and to do whatever the emperor requests if him. He's the most beautiful person in the story and alot of woman and men want him. He drinks this a medicine that make him more eunuch like to maintain that appearance. The reason why we don't know and his backstory is one of the big mysteries.

Setting

It's not a specific year which is good Apparently mongels are still a problem and they can keep in contact with the west if they want. Historical Chinese dramas I guess 🤷‍♀️. Politically ppl dislike the last emperor and just over a decade before slavery was abolished. U can technically sell family members tho if ur poor. Maomao was sold as a palace maid and all her earnings go to her "family". In fact most of the maid charachters are the same way.So some cultural things need to be addressed if your new to court drama. Honestly it's a cliche for me cuz I watch alot of Asian dramas but others might not.

In the palace we have the outer court that does real work like paper work and women can join the outer court but they are akin to secretaries. I think they dislike inner court ladies cuz they had to take a test (Also technically maids but they don't do the best job compared to inner court ladies). The inner palace only has women and they are all concubines for the emperor. There have been cases of maids becoming lower ranked concubines if they were pretty. 4 great positions are taken by great noble ladies and their families. These 4 ladies each have their own palace and are the ones most likely to become empress/create heirs.

Hanmachi/red light district is a big part of the story. Mao mao was raised there and is the 2nd location the story takes place. It's both a beautiful gorgeous palace and a dark dangerous alley. Maomao says that the brothels are both a cage and a Wall that protects them from the streets Maomao isn't a courtesan but was raised with her 3 big sisters the 3 princesses of Rokushoukan. All high courtesans need to learn to dance, play instruments, talk, play go or other board games and read. Men don't usually get to sleep with high courtesans and it dosent work on all girls but the more pure you are to get the higher the price.

BTW we never go to them but there are brothels that are lecherous, and there are cases of rape within that district and maomao has almost been in that situation which also hasn't been shown.

Adaptations/art

There are like 3 types of versions of the story for some reason. There are 2 mangas and the og light novel. The mangas not done but maybe the first one went in a different direction of the novel 🤔 idk??? I've read a little bit about the the light novel but honestly not that different. Mao mao is a very introspective charachter she has alot of thoughts and won't say alot of her thoughts or feelings due to fear of nobility or just laziness.

So the manga makes her alot more expressive while keeping her introspective thoughts. She can be very funny and comedic with her expressions. Later on when she gets stitches they keep reopening(she just roles with it and everyone gets freaked out for her)

The 2nd manga makes mao mao her personality more serious and aparently there's less emphasis on romance. Only 1 volume so can't judge on much. (Only read 2 chapters) so I'm gonna talk about the 1st manga.

(Light novel, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto manga and Mao Mao no Kōkyū Nazotoki Techō manga)

The art is really good what happens alot in shoujo series set in harems or inner courts. Is that the women are not hot they can be beautiful, pretty even but they really aren't hot.

But damnnnnnn all the girls are 🔥🔥🔥

Specifically the hanamachi ones and even maomao herself sometimes. Lol 😆 I'm gonna stop now

But seriously I like how they talk about sex, prostitution and harems. Alot of shoujo are so PG about a place that is notorious for sex work.

Last minute thoughts

Check it out there's 2 manga volumes out and more coming. (Or read the scanlations I did both)

I like jinshi when he gets jealous since he's so cool and in control alot seeing him flounder about with mao mao is fun ❤

Maomao has a pretty interesting past too and it's hinted at really early there's this guy she definitely dosent wanna meet in the outer palace (that's my hint for foreshadowing) 🤐

I would read the light novels if ur like dying to know the plot the manga is a monthly series (I won't cuz I'm lazy)

This ties back to the fierce honesty policy you have between each other, but you both are so stubborn so arguing does happen

You both usually start by saying snarky things until one of you breaks and says what is really bothering them, which doesn’t take long at all

If you cry, congrats, you automatically won bc Jin not only does not know how to deal with a woman’s tears, he cannot fathom his one true love crying

Although you usually try to continue explaining your reasoning bc you don’t wanna win by crying, you wanna win bc you’re right

Jin, similar to Jimin, respects you a lot, so the other girls seldom ever catch him acting like a clown’

His downfall is just being bad at expressing his feelings bc he thinks you just know, like you read minds or something

You both read each other like a book, so the only time anything comes up is if you don’t like what you’re reading at that moment and vice versa, then a fight might start but it is shockingly rare

If he makes you cry, the fight is over, he lost. Yes, this is a running theme among the guys bc they are all whipped dummies

Very perceptive of your feelings, so never really worries about fighting with you or you hiding anything from him

Makes him go silent real quick and reevaluate everything he has ever thought or done

For this reason, he just sighs and apologizes, genuinely bc you can absolutely tell when he’s just saying it to shut you up

He is the only one that will allow you to leave (the room, not the house) not that you want to leave the building considering the dangers you know are out there

Once you both cool off, you’ll have him state what he thought about and vice versa

You give advice to all the girls on how to do this, but not all of them are brave enough to try

You intimidate the other guys when they fight with their darlings bc you keep a smile the whole time you are threatening them and holy fuck is it eerie. You usually try to distract the upset girls post-argument with a craft or fun art facts

Jimin:

What makes the relationship work are your selfish tendencies working in tandem with his more sinister ones, but it can’t always work that way

You both test each other all the time despite agreeing on almost everything because the relationship is not a fight for dominance, but control-control you usually win 

The closest you get to real fighting is rough sex, most of the time you have disagreements that you resolve with conversation

It's the most “healthy” (it’s not all that healthy tbh) thing about the relationship and it blows everyone's minds, but it only happens bc Jimin has always respected you, and he genuinely knows that you don’t need him as much as he needs you

But on the extremely rare occasion there is a fight it is never in front of anyone and all hell breaks loose: screaming, yelling, slamming doors, it all seems like endless hell bc you both are too stubborn to say when you’re wrong

Until you cry

He really can't stand the sight of you crying, bc you rarely ever cry. He sees you as really tough and his whole perception of the world shatters once he realizes he’s the cause of your tears

Making up includes, you guessed it, sex. Like calling into work bc you can’t walk sex (Jimin cries during this sex bc he feels undeserving but by round 2 he stops)

The girls come to you post-argument to rant bc you live to talk shit with them to vent

Taehyung:

Rarely ever fights with you, because he absolutely despises doing so and you typically do what he says without question

But when you do fight, it always ends with both of you crying and hugging

During the argument though, he can say some seriously out of pocket shit, bc he lacks impulse control and you take that shit to hear bc who wouldn’t 

The fights are nightmarish and hard to watch bc at some point it just becomes Taehyung losing his mind while you cower until he realizes how much of an asshole he’s being or until you try to leave mid convo

Bless him if he were to ever make you cry in front of the other MC’s, my guy would be ripped to shreds bc the other girls do not fuck around

Hates to ever be the cause of your tears so you both are very quick to makeup and he can spend up to weeks making up for it

I’m talking gifts, money, food, dates, clothes, he is basically your personal assistant that pays you when he feels bad

The girl’s come to you after an argument for quiet time or some cute embroidery time

Jungkook:

You don't fight often, but when you do it's disastrous bc he is wildly paranoid and you are wildly insecure

You almost always go into a panic attack, fearing he'll leave you and he immediately loses all fight in him and feels like shit

And he is absolutely crushed seeing you hyperventilate or clutch your chest while he's yelling so he just stops like mid yell will just close his mouth and take a deep breath before going to you 

Immediately apologizes when it happens

Usually cries with you while he holds you

Another fella that will get torn to shreds by the other girls if they even catch a whiff of him being anything other than sunshine and rainbows to you rip jungkook tbh

He makes it up to you the same way Taehyung makes it up, by shutting his mouth and doing whatever you want, and giving you whatever you want

When the other girls get into an argument with their guy, they come to you for a hug and some quality time distraction

· but he really dislikes how his daughter is super christian, so if she ever finds out he may be the devil or even states he could be anything satanic or sinful, it wont be pretty on her side

· his face isnt that comprehendible until u personally get closer to him. if ur a complete stranger to him, its impossible to directly look at his face without some sort of problem. it'll seem like static or as if nothing is there, and itll make u want to look away since its too much for ur brain to handle (can make people have headaches or their eyes sore). if ur a pal or a well known enemy of his, you'll see some features like his sharp and terrifying grin, and sometimes his 3rd eye (which will make anybody be in distress)

· he, surprisingly, has a great voice. what makes up for his lack of face or any horrifying features is his voice. sometimes you'll hear him hum a melody or quietly sing a song in his office, he sings more calming songs than anything energetic. if ur lucky enough he'll hop his ukulele out and start singing a wonderful and peaceful song

· he loves guns, but not in a weird way. back to my first headcanon, once he entered this reality and had a somewhat stable form, the minute he found out theres metal shiny things you can hold that make loud kaboom sounds and have many varieties hes like "holy shit!?!? that is so cool!!!!!!!" and its really his comfort item. he usually goes to any open range and practices bc it is a great distraction and he loves holdin em (like a stim!). he cleans em regularly, like a hobby of some sorts

· he's made his own songs before, but he keeps em in private. he may sing em for his daughter though!

· hes more in touch with anomalous beings then regular humans, cause every anomaly thats been locked up by the foundation can relate on something

· "hm. this small anomalous child has no (good) parental figure in their life? well that is clearly my child now. i am their new dad"

· he is very intelligent, you can never prank, trick, or pull any game on him. he can read gestures and cues very easily, and can pick up any weird vibes or feelins within his area

· hes definitely an anarchist, i dont make the rules

· he sometimes wishes he can live a normal life ina suburb home with an amazing s/o and his beautiful daughter and they live happily ever after. then he proceeds with "well where the hell is the fun in that?"

· he has yet to comprehend human emotions, mental illnesses or neurodivergency, he may be able to trick and mess with someone in their head, but being able to fully comprehend human feelings and such is far out of his abilities. maybe one day though

· mess with his friends or family? hes already at ur house bud. there's no saving ur miserable life now

· the infamous 'dr clef can't be affected by anomalous things or properties' still holds very true. he can be affected by 166's powers tho!

· he speaks 4-ish other languages: old greek/latin, german and french. he can gladly try and take up more languages tho, they amaze him!
