ROCKS RoCKS ROCkS i love to draw the rocks!

[ID: My hand holding a graph paper sketchbook with a brushpen drawing of rocks at low tide, above the actual rocks themselves. They're covered in thready chartreuse algae, which I suggest in black ink with scribbly textures and hatching. I've also drawn the sea water bubbling and rippling around the rocks, and suggested bladderwrack seaweed dumpling the water as it clings to submerged rocks.]

[ID: Me holding up another page in my sketchbook at the same rocky Eastern Turtle Island beach. I drew it sitting between the boulders of the hurricane barrier, and the foreground focuses on their texture and bulk extending all the way to the pebbly waterline. I suggested the horizon with just a few lines for the bay and seawall. The real ones line up almost exactly behind the sketch.]

A blast from sketchbooks past.

I've seen some pretty adorable art that uses washi tape for fabric and designed a piece I thought might be fun for that. I couldn't get the washi tape to behave quite that well, though, so I ended up inverting it and using washi as a background design instead.

Recently had the time and the hand-ability to sit on a log in Blackstone Park, and draw its portrait.

[ID 1: A fallen tree surrounded by lush undergrowth, from the POV of me sitting on it and holding up a sketchbook where I've drawn it in brushpen. The soft, bark-less heartwood is slowly falling to pieces in the afternoon sun. Gnarled knots where branches used to be now shelter tiny plants.

ID 2: A closeup of the drawing, the graph paper sketchbook laying on top of the log. The angled light makes the black ink almost brown in places. I've tried to replicate the textures of the bark with thin scribbly lines, dark shadows, and lots of hatching. I suggest the undergrowth with some plants but focus on the tree itself and the plants growing on it.]
