Your art inspires me so much, your use of expression and line weight is truly remarkable, I love it so much! I asked my family to get me brush pens for Christmas so I can learn/practice line weight traditionally 👉👈 you are such an inspiration to me I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
Ah! Thank you! The brush pens I like using are the Pentel pocket brush pens. Super messy, super unforgiving, I love 'em. Haha! Hope you have a wonderful holiday as well!

So, are you like a main idea guy for bobs burgers or do you just contribute to it. I’ve followed you for a while but i dont really know your story
I'm not a MAIN idea guy for Bob's. I work in post production. Each episode is written, storyboarded, and then animated overseas, and when the animation comes back, there are always a lot of fixes that need to happen. It could be changes in the animation, changes in the audio, or even changes in the story. All these changes are called "retakes", and I'm the retake director. So I work closely with the main series directors, and even get to briefly work with Loren and Nora.
All that being said, I'm more of a "problem solver." The ideas I contribute are mostly around "this shot/gag/drawing isn't working, how do we fix it?" A lot of the time the directors and showrunners know how to fix it, and I just draw what they need, but a lot of the time I'll chime in with ideas for fixes, or even point out things that people might not have considered, and they'll use my ideas if they feel it works. The end credits segments are usually a little more open ended because we do them stateside, and during post production. So there are times where they don't have ideas for that, and I can pitch something. The "Slug-Horses" episode, I came up with the end credits myself. I think someone said "maybe we could do something with the rockets dancing/spiraling around with eachother", and I rolled with that. I came up with the idea of transitioning it back into the kitchen, so I boarded it, sent it to the creative heads, and they loved it!
So, that's pretty much the "creative" side of my job. I also direct the stateside animators in executing all the changes we've decided to make. Lotsa' work! But I love it.

Did you also happen to do the animation with Gayle panicking in the hallway in the most recent episode? When she’s screaming “call 911!” Over Tina and Louise fighting haha. It looked very fluid!
I did not. That was the result of a good storyboard artist, and the overseas crew putting one of their "A" animators on it. I totally agree though. That was some solid animation on Gayle.

Don't drift too far this #AniMonday
This episode is extra special for me. I had the privilege to animation-direct the "sorry card" sequences, which were animated from scratch by our stateside animation crew. They even flew me out to California to direct and meet everyone in person. I also boarded and pitched the end credits, and the post team knocked it out of the park. It was an awesome experience, and I am extremely proud of the end result of this episode.

Overcome your stage fright this #AniMonday
This was a test for a Blue Sky studios project. Woz, an "illusion magic" based creature, has a bit of a self-confidence issue, causing his powers to kind of work against him.

Song was so good this #AniMonday I had to join in.
I was in love with this episode ever since I first read the script. So happy that it's being received so well!

How would you feel if you got a special episode of Bob’s Burgers or at least a scene where it was all animated in your signature style? Like how some animated shows will have a “guest director” or “guest animator” for one episode?
Haha! I'd never say no to that. It would probably be a bit more expensive, though. I will say, keep an eye out for an episode coming in December, where I got to anim direct a few sequences in a VERY different art style. ;)

Have you ever drawn the green guy from the Spread the Love collab again? He makes me happy :)
Ah! Thank you! I don't think I have drawn that guy since. But I should! :D

Also would like to know how work is like for you out here with the animation landscape right now?
For me personally? I THINK I'm in a fairly stable position, but it seems to be a pretty rough time for animators/animation these days, so I try not to rest on my laurels.

Hey I'm an animation student who's a huge fan of bobs burgers and I've seen the art of your rough animations in action. What would you say is your favourite part of working for bento box entertainment?
There are a lot of things I love about working for Bento. But probably my favorite times are when we pick a shot for me to go in, shoot reference, and rough anim it out. Even moreso when I get the chance to final anim it myself as well, but those times are few and far between. Haha!

I came to cheese this #AniMonday !
This was my first Bob's Burgers end credits that I got to animation direct the team on. It was one of those moments where everything kinda all fell into place during the storyboard process, and the animators knocked it out of the park. So much fun!
